Well, it's not going to replace Chipotle. I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars- it wasn't awful, but "meh, I've experienced better" fits precisely... The good: clean place, good service. The meh: the food. I had a steak burrito with the "Hot Head" sauce, some veggies and salsa; chips and guac; and a drink. The price was about the same as Chipotle. The steak was flavorless and a bit tough. The other ingredients seemed fresh, but none stood out. The sauce was barely detectable. This place seems to pride itself on the sauces, and I don't know if I had a bad batch or just not enough to taste but I was unimpressed (even when I found a concentration of it in a corner of the burrito and could taste it better.) And the whole thing was barely room temperature (dining in, and wrapped in foil) so it wasn't very palatable. Plus there just wasn't that much flavor overall. The chips and guacamole were good. I just don't get the interest in this place, and won't be back. The sauces are a great idea, but poorly executed. And there's nothing else to make it stand out.

Got a burrito bowl from here and honestly, it did not compare to the flavor you get out of Chipotle burritos. The rice was to plain and the chicken i ordered seemed overcooked, dry, and not as flavorful as I would have hoped. You do get to choose from a TON of sauces, but sauces are supposed to be the a condiment and not the main attraction. I would be OK with all of this if their prices were more competitive to Chipotle, but the fact that the prices are just as expensive as Chipotle's means I would choose the competitor base on quality of food.

So disappointed. Flavorless, except for the chunks of raw onion in the corn (yuck). I honestly don't understand what this place has to offer in a city full of chipotles, which are way better tasting and the same price (if not cheaper!). When I walked in I saw a metal wire rack with can after can of GFS black beans, pinto beans, etc. Based on the flavor I'm pretty sure they simply opened the can and just dumped it in the serving pan (except for the corn....YUCK!). Nothing is prepared there. Everything comes from a can. I wanted lettuce on my burrito and the lady working there goes, "do you really want this lettuce?" It was brown and wilted. And then she told me it's the only lettuce they had. What??!! I should have walked. Won't be going back.

After sitting with a "opening soon" sign for months, HHB opened in my neighborhood this past week. I dropped in for a late lunch to this location that sits on the west side of 23/High St just south of Lazelle Road and a Tim Hortons. I was greeted warmly by the staff as I entered and found my way back to where the line started to place my order. Well, if you've been to another "Chippy" place you know how to order but this is where the comparison of two similar restaurants ends. HBB is all about choices and they offer a lot of 'em from proteins to sauces you can craft many different tastes here. I ordered a steak burrito for my first try of HHB with brown rice and a host of veggies, choices of cheese and of course one of the 14 different sauces they offer I went with the "Hot Head" Sauce. I scored a seat at one of the booths and then had to go searching for extra napkins and a eating utensil, both located behind the counter and had to be asked for. My burrito wasn't wrapped very well so eating it with or without the wrapper was gonna be a messy time but that's never a problem with me personally. I dug into this with a fork and found pretty much all the flavours I was looking for. The steak was nicely seasoned and tender, not fatty, gristly or chewy like I've sometimes encountered at other places. The rest of the fillings were fresh, bright and the Hot Head sauce, a mild creamy chili sauce complimented it well. For a first visit this wasn't too bad overall, I'll be back to try more choices here because that's what it's all about here, choices. Hopefully by then they will get better skills on burrito rolling 101...

Staff was friendly, no line, clean inside, not the first time I've been to this chain and certainly won't be the last. Things worth pointing out: I ordered Barbacoa and the dude gave me easily twice as much meat as they ever do at Chipotle. Awesome. The hot salsa has a sweet taste to it as well, like there is some cranberry in there perhaps. Pretty good. Got the extra habanero hot sauce, also good. Didn't try to charge for a double wrapped burrito like Moes does (they try to charge extra for EVERYTHING at Moes, can't stand it) and the portion sizes here are off the chain!

Move over chipotle & Qdoba! Hot Head burritos is now my #1 fast food Mexican joint. I love that there are so many options & that you can add a sauce to your burrito/taco/bowl (I recommend the sweet habanero). I have gotten both the burrito & a bowl & found both very filling. The prices are pretty much the same as Chipotle & Qdoba but I think it tastes better. The only drawback: the menu is very overwhelming when you walk in. You have to pretty much know what you want. Other than that; good food, big portions, good price.

My bf and I went to this Hot head location yesterday for lunch. This is the normal one we go to. The staff is always really friendly and the food is decent. I really like that I can order a kids meal #1 the lil' burrito and it comes with a cookie and child sized drink. I like having this option because it's the perfect amount of food. I find that the larger burrito is entirely too big and I never end up finishing it even if I bring the leftovers home. Chipotle and Qdoba don't offer the child sized burrito option so this is what brings me to this Hot Head. Otherwise the reason I rated it a 3 star is because I do think both Chipotle and Qdoba have better tasting ingredients then Hot head does. I also don't care for the Hot Head sauces that I have tried. But if you enjoy Chipotle or Qdoba you will most likely enjoy this as well.

As always Hotheads is good, this location is really nice. Friendly, nice staff, clean, much room for seating. As long as I have been a regular I have never had any complaints, ingredients are fresh, food is always good. I would come back to this location as I was pleased and so was my stomach.

I really wanted to like this place! I think that everyone who drove by their store front for the nearly nine months that they were "Opening Soon" had to be excited about it. Tonight was finally the first night I got to try it out. I am let down. I wanted to really have it be a 3-star place in the worst way too. After finishing my meal, I have to say its just average to below average. The one thing I can say about the food is it tastes bland. There are more choices for items on the line than a Chipolte, but it's not as high of quality. The steak looked like chopped hamburger. The chicken looked a day old. The rice was plain white rice, no cilantro in it really. While the stuff isn't up to snuff with Chipolte quality, it's still the same price point $15 for two meals. The best part about it was the "Hot Head" sauce, which was pretty good or at least seemed to add a little flavor to the bland items. I don't think it's going to be a place where I'm wearing out the pathway to now that the curiosity is gone. If your high school cafeteria set up shop and had "burrito day" and went all out for it, the end result would be about what you get at Hot Head. At least they're finally open.

Great place with great service. The restaurant itself is really nice, run like a chipotle almost. Great place to go grab lunch or dinner with your friends before to head out somewhere

This place is just not good. I ordered a steak bowl and one bite in regretted that we didn't drive a bit out of the way to Chipotle or Qdoba. Overall, the quality of the many ingredients is poor. The spicy steak was neither spicy nor steak-like. The consistency was similar to really dry pot roast. I kept wondering where the "spicy" part was. Turns out they use some type of chili oil drizzled into the dish in lieu of actually cooking spices into the meat. The bottom of the bowl had a pool of the oil that was a bit spicy but not especially tasty. The lettuce was from a bag and had that icky preservative taste. The guacamole was from a can and had that awful citric acid metallic flavor. The corn was straight from a can, no seasoning added. The "signature sauce" is just strange. The flavor was okay I guess but more appropriate on a sandwich, not Mexican fare. I do like that they offer brown rice as an option but mine was undercooked and literally crunchy. The black beans were unseasoned but I think they may actually use dried beans and cook this ingredient in-house because they were tender without being mushy like canned beans. My husband bailed on his chicken burrito half-way through. I am not sure this has ever happened. Ever. Next time it's off to Qdoba for an Ancho Chili BBQ burrito or off to Chipotle for anything on their menu. We will not return to HHB.

Nice staff, delicious food. I love that they offer a lil burrito bowl for the times when you just want a small meal. They also have a rewards card, which is awesome for earning points

Came in for the baby burrito and it was good! I didn't think it was quite as fresh or flavorful as Chipotle, but I really liked the portion of food for a quick lunch. Staff was very friendly and prices are good. Maybe next time I'll try a hotter sauce for some extra flavor.

As far as service goes, Ive really enjoyed coming to the high street location. Its close to my work, and overtime Ive been getting to know the staff and Ive become a regular. The staff is friendly and always willing to suggest items, and keep you coming back. One tip for anyone thinking "Chipotle" when trying another burrito joint, might I suggest to try something different that you cant get at the other place. The queso and chips are great, the three tacos offer good value, the quesadilla is loaded if you get the deluxe, the hawaiian burrito is wonderful (pineapple is usually extra but wonderful nonetheless). The sauces, ohhhhh the sauces. They offer a wide variety. By now Ive been mixing and matching, and Ive also asked them for their favorites. If your nervous about the unknown flavors, get the sauce on the side! Monday - 2 for $12 burrito/bowls after 5pm Tuesday - double sticker day Friday - just look at Facebook for the freebie item/deal

I've read the other reviews and want to add that my experience was more positive. I tried HHB because it is close by, and have eaten there about 6 times now. I've concluded that the most important aspect is the choices of sauces and ingredients one makes. I admit that I haven't been too picky about the ingredient quality.... The first time,I chose a combo right for my particular taste (rather spicy, preferring the green chilli, with a leaning towards healthier--brown rice, no iceberg lettuce--choices) and am not sure why, but the burrito was OUT OF SITE! Since then I've been feeling mildly addicted, it's become a favorite place. I've never had an experience of that ilk at Chipotle. It seems likely that picking the right sauce is the key, so you might wish to try some different combos (just tasting isn't the same as eating it mixed in all the other ingredients). If I ever have a negative experience there, I will update this to be fair.

My boyfriend LOVES this place, but I find it pretty average. I've been here twice now and both times were totally different experiences. The first time the staff was really nice and helpful, and the second time they all looked miserable and just looked at us instead of actually asking if we were ready to order. The portions were also much larger the second time, so I don't really know what they are aiming for. The place is pretty dirty for just opening though- the tables are not frequently wiped down and the floor is clearly not cleaned everyday. The food is pretty bland compared to what its copying off of (Chipotle). The beans have no seasoning, the rice tastes like nothing, and the guac does not taste like it is made fresh (and might not even be made in house). Yes there are more options, but I don't find any of them to be particularly appealing. The hot head sauce is amazing, and that's probably the only thing I love about this place. I really wanted to like this place, but after two mediocre visits I don't know if I'll be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
