It's close to home, it's usually pretty good, and the price is right. Isn't that what you want in a neighborhood chinese place? There's nothing that makes Happy Dragon stand out, it's just reliably average Chinese food that I can walk to pick up. The wonton soup is very good, with lots of veggie and good broth. I've always found the food was ready quickly and correctly. I can't ask for much more than that.

I really hate to write negative reviews. I really try to find the best in any business I visit because I'm a generally optimistic and upbeat person. I focus on the good, downplay the bad- it's just my nature. I'm always the one finding more good than fault. But, I can't help it in this case. I really have to report that this is awful Chinese food by any measure. Dry, mild to the point of boring, on top of bland rice. I didn't know Chinese takeout could get so bad. Now, who knows, maybe I went on a very unlucky day. Maybe the good chef was sick or a vital delivery had not arrived as expected. At any rate, I've been reluctant to ever try this place again. I'd love to hear that someone has had a great experience here so I can stop in again, but I'm just plain afraid to at this point. Sorry, Happy Dragon!

I've been going to this place for years, and it's always good, always fast, and always plentiful. It's not the greatest, tastiest Chinese food in Columbus, but it's above average, and you can order meat dishes knowing that you will get good meat, not that creepy chewy stuff you sometimes get in Chinese restaurants. I like the tofu- it's cooked nice and chewy.

Not a big fan. I am always skeptical when trying a new Chinese take out spots. I moved from Grandview(Great Chinese Food) to German Village and was hoping this would be my weekly chinese take out. However, the food was extremly bland and lacked flavor. The only good thing I can say is that the portions were large and the prices are low. I guess I will have to make the trip to Tai's Asian Bistro in UA.

I ordered from the Happy Dragon for the first time this week, and I thought the food was very good. The hot and sour soup was some of the best that I've had anywhere (and it is definitely spicy!) and the Gen Tso's chicken actually tasted like chicken. I will definitely be back.

Most people talk about the 'Dragon like it's heaven on rice, but I think it's standard Chinese takeout fare and nothing more. Since it's right next door, though, I deal with it a fair bit. Meh.

Wow disappointed to see negative reviews of this place, considering the limited amount of Chinese takeout in the area. Living in German village, best Chinese takeout within walking distance. Every experience I have had here has included them cooking the food right in front of me after in have placed my order, fresh and hot as it gets. I've walked in 5 minutes to closing and they have prepared my food. Nice staff, typical American Chinese food. Reasonably priced, I've never spent more that 25$ here. Limited seating, I would not suggest making this an eat in destination. Excellent jalapeño shrimp. Take it for what it is, American Chinese take out close to home in the village.

Haters gonna hate. But Happy Dragon is TASTY!

New to the Village and thought we would try this place. Menu is nothing exciting, mainly tried and true old standards. Still, we had hoped that some flavor would get through. I always order pot stickers when trying a new Chinese restaurant. If they take the time to make the filling flavorful and the dough thin then I assume that they take time trying to get everything right. Alas, very mediocre here. The curry chicken was the best of the lot. Some heat (not much) and some good flavors but still only an average dish. The Mongolian beef was flavorless and tough. The vegetable lo-mein had noodle that were fine but two pieces of broccoli and one of bok choy in the entire portion. It was like they recycled it from someone else's order. We were sadly disappointed and will not go back. Ever

  • Kate Q.

Um, it's OK. I honestly can't decide whether to give it two or three stars. Sure I've had better Chinese food, but Happy Dragon is cheap, quick, and an easy fix for food during a busy day or late night at the office. Now that I'm gluten free, though, I can't really eat here all that easily so I haven't been in a long time. All in all, though, it's not bad. It's not great, but not bad either.

So many moons like 10+ years ago this was the best place in cbus to get take out. Changed. Downhill this place has went to the crapper. The food is horrible, sesame chicken use to be on point perfect, I got it last summer after leaving scioto mile with my kids, and literally took one bite and tossed it. Horrible.

  • Greg S.

Like others, I've never understood the excitement about this place. Despite it's nice looks and location, it's pretty standard Chinese food. Most of the dishes taste similar, the cuts of meat are low grade and tough, the sauces are runny, and the vegetables are usually overcooked. One of the things that I really don't like, is that they use cheap styrofoam containers for take out, instead of the traditional boxes from most places. The couple of times I have ordered take out, I open my bag only to find sauce was all over the place, having leaked from the box. It's acceptable, but by no means what I would call great Chinese.

    (2)
  • David S.

WORST CHINESE EVER!!! Bland with absolutely no flavor Sesame Chicken was dry with no sauce. The fried rice, no flavor. Well lets just say nothing had any flavor. Ordered carry out because it was close. Will not make that mistake again.

We just moved here, and needed some food delivered as we are surrounded by boxes. Called to placed order for delivery and was told they only deliver to hospitals and hotels! My cell phone number was a non local area code, and I guess this bothered the person at happy dragon, because he asked where he would deliver, I said German village, and he said we don't deliver there. I said you ARE in GV! Totally bizarre, and pretty crappy welcome to columbus. Thanks Crappy Dragon.

  • Miss J.

Food is okay, just take-out, nothing special. They did get my order wrong though, leaving both bean sprouts and onion in the dish (yuck) and it took them about an hour to deliver some lukewarm food 1.6 miles away to my work and that's a 5 minute drive. Maybe 10 if traffic is horrendous.

This place has the best spring rolls and wings. Can't say I've tried much else, but yum... the spring rolls. Get them.

I like the following items on the Happy Dragon menu: String Beans, Pad Thai, Hot and Sour Soup, Crab Rangoon and Mongolian Beef.... Everything else has fallen short in my opinion... I live a few blocks away from Happy Dragon, so, its a convenience factor that keeps me going back. The fact that they don't deliver is a little absurd.... There are some nights when I just want my Chinese delivered... I have seen the white BMW with a Happy Dragon sign making frequent trips to Grant and Children's. There are plenty of better Chinese places in Columbus... Happy Dragon just happens to be fast, convenient and pretty cheap... and the portions are pretty big too.Meh is a perfect way to describe Happy Dragon.

    (2)
  • Keith M.

Bland, but cheap, sums up my experience. Got the vegetable lo mein and it was mostly soy sauce that I tasted on the noodles and some frozen veggies thrown in. At least I found out once and for all that the Happy Dragon out in Reynoldsburg is definitely different and way superior for Americanized Chinese: get theveggie lo mein & General Tso's Chicken combo there and you'll see there's no comparison between the two.

  • Simone D.

This is my go-to for Chinese carry out. It is typical for sure but it's right down the road from me and everyone is super friendly and quick. It's never taken me longer than 3 minutes to get through the line and get my food. The food tastes good, doesn't seem like it's a couple days old like some takeouts can be. If you are in the area it's great but I don't think I'd venture here strictly for this place.

I order from this place when I am to lazy or tired to even make a piece of toast, and everytime I do I wish I just got my act together and made the toast. This is your typical chinese take out place. Even when I order spicy I have to add some fresh garlic or something to give it a kick. I do appreciate that everything is made to order so you can get fried rice without egg or opt out on the fish sauce. It is also pretty interesting that they serve phad thai although there is not much about it that makes it thai. My favorites are the hot and sour soup and veggie low mein, the portions are generous for the price but then again you could always just go with toast.

Wow I was shocked to see all these slams on Happy Dragon! I've been going here since the '80s and have always enjoyed tasty Chinese with good sized portions for the price. The stir-fried string beans are my favorite but I've never tried anything so far I didn't like and they have always been very accomodating as my preferences, mild, medium, or spicy depending on my mood. I have never tried any other popular priced Chinese in the greater Columbus area that I thought was as good as Happy Dragon.

  • Spongebob S.

Pros: -Food was okay -price was inexpensive, and worth it for what you got -good variety of dishes, and they were willing to accommodate to your tastes (my friend asked for extra chili in his general tsao's) -decor wasn't too bad for the location and prices -small and large options for your meal Cons: -Food was okay -Rice tasted cheap and half-assed -their wonton soup was bland -they would not deliver to apartment complexes (even though ours was literally across the street) Overall, if you are craving chinese and this place is within a decent driving distance for you, it would be worth it to try it out. The prices are reasonable, about $6 for a small and $8 for a large The chicken was actually fresh-tasting (I got a General Tsaos), but the rice just ruined it for me. It was too bland and dry.

    (3)
  • Charles G.

Better than average Chinese food and *much* bigger than average portions at a lower than average price. Also, very fast service! I got two meals while they were quite busy in under five minutes.

    (4)
  • Jeff L.

I got take out from here tonight. First, the positives: the food comes in pretty large sized portions and they seem to have some quick service (they got quite a few people in and out of there in about 5 minutes). The prices are pretty reasonable too. As for the negatives: the food quality is just blah. Everything was severely overseasoned and lacked any distinct flavor. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars if we could. Oh, and I called for delivery and they only deliver to motel rooms. I'd be able to deal with the sub par food if it came delivered.

    (2)
  • Chad C.

With the enormous caveat that today is my first meal from happy dragon, here goes... Not very friendly. I had the cashew chicken, and it was really bland minus the saltiness. The first bite I was like, "Aww man!" It tasted like creamy soy sauce. The veggies seemed fresh. That is all.

  • Tony W.

Food is adequate but I have to admit I make my own meal up due to the bland nature of their features. Chicken fried rice with a portion of curry sauce. Get it home, apply soy sauce and pour the curry sauce on top. Yummy. My comment is to do with the older guy who takes the orders. Look, if I am coming in and giving you business, at least have the decency to be polite. I make a point of going elsewhere simply due to the attitude of this guy. By the way, people have put down that they deliver. They deliver ONLY during the day and ONLY to hospitals (work that one out). To me that is not a delivery service and should not be advertised as such. I mean, seriously, it isn't rocket science. 1. hire delivery person with car 2. Take orders over phone and take address 3. Make food 4. Give food and address to delivery driver 5. Have delivery driver take food and collect money 6. Repeat from step 2 until 9pm

    (2)
  • Randy J.

Very solid Chinese food in German Village. The portions are huge and prices are good. Also they deliver, which seems to be a rarity in Columbus.

Happy Dragon makes me Happy, they're in my phones speed dial 1. This place is in walking distance. 2. They're open until 9 every single night. 3. They're open most holiday's. 4. My order is always $6.50 with tax-a small combo (anything), steamed rice and an egg roll. That's a two day meal there, sometimes three days. Yes, you may need to add a little hot mustard or soy sauce but really isn't that the same as adding a little salt to your potatoes or extra sour cream on a taco.

The perks of being Asian? Table service when there isn't any. haha When the crew decided to get some Chinese before heading to the airport, we ended up here. There were 7 of us, so we started to rearrange some of the two seaters when a worker came and put two 4 person tables together (ahhh of courrsseee). Sweet. Happy Garden is a hole in the wall joint with the standard menu you see in Chinese restaurants across the country. It says there is no table service on here, but I guess because my mom's friends chatted with them and they came over to take our order (we're all Filipino but I guess we could "pass"). Nice. The food came out in full on styrofoam (drinks too.. sodas are HUGE) so no restaurant plates or anything. Although, the containers came in handy for those who took their food home. The food came out super fast but was just alright all around. EXTREMELY hot. Like hotter than hot (temp wise).. I definitely burned my mouth more than once. And the portions were kind of inconsistent. I got the Happy Garden (derr) and my mom got shrimp with pea pods. I probably got twice the amount she had and we both ordered "small". I mean, both portions were more than enough for one person, but it was just interesting. Pretty quiet for lunch time on a Sunday, it was just us and a group of gentlemen soaking up the night before with egg rolls. This place is definitely not a destination location for Chinese, but a decent price for decent food.

My family moved here in 1993 and we quickly discovered the joys of Happy Dragon. Our family has eaten here for the last 15+ years! Their prices have rarely changed over the long time we've been going. The large is HUGE! I usually order a small and have plenty of left overs for the next day. I was sad to move to California and leave Happy Dragon behind. During my pregnancy this is what I craved but couldn't have in California. But my family still goes there- They even know us by name practically. I'm so happy to be visiting Columbus soon and to enjoy Happy Dragon once again.

I discovered Happy Dragon shortly after moving to Columbus and was curious to try it as it always seemed busy. It is your average Chinese takeout restaurant. There are some tables, but it appears that the majority of the business comes from takeout. The small portions are quite large and come with regular or fried rice. Combo with an eggroll is only .75 more. I like my food very hot and they have been obliging every time. For an entree, rice and an eggroll to be $6.50 with tax is a great price! I'm a huge fan!

  • Emily H.

Lately everything has been really bland (with the exception of the string beans, which were the one dish that had flavor). I still occasionally come here because it's close to home, and I do appreciate that it feels a lot cleaner than, say, Number One, but I've definitely had better. And I still don't understand their delivery policy - one review says they only deliver to motel rooms, when we called they said only to Children's Hospital, but they always have that delivery car parked outside... why not use it?

Used to love this place, but went back and was like "Wait, why did I love this place again?" Just OK.

I'm hovering between a 3 and a 4. What pushed me over the edge was the superior quality of the won ton soup to other Chinese restaurants of its ilk. First, there were tons of veggies not traditionally in Americanized Won Ton, like cabbage and whole fresh mushrooms. The pork filling in the dumpling was flavorful and gingery, and there were even some shrimp swimming around in there, too. Broth was a little on the salty side, but what would this type of Chinese food be without a sodium injection? The fried rice was a little too mushy for my tastes. I like a slight crisp on my fried rice. But again, lots of fresh veggies so I was happy. I'd ordered takeout from here before when I was working on a weekend day downtown. My coworker picked up the order-- so I hadn't been inside until now, though I'd driven past it many times. I was a little surprised by the interior. I thought it would be a little nicer (maybe some light waitstaff, place settings, etc), but it looked strictly takeout with a few cruddy booths. Not a problem, I can't really see sitting inside to eat anyway, even if it were nicer. Back to working on the weekend though... you know how on law-related movies or tv shows, they always show the lawyers working hard at the conference table, stacks of papers everywhere, bleary-eyed with TAKEOUT CHINESE CONTAINERS?! Yeah, I had a vision of that... so I was kinda bummed out when our meals came in STYROFOAM LIDDED TRAYS. Whhhhaaaat? Totally ruined my overworked-professional aesthetic. This last time I ordered, the fried rice came in a more traditional (albeit red) takeout container.

Happy to find Happy Dragon! I am new to the area, was happy to find good tasting, reasonably priced Chinese take out food. Happy Dragon compares very favorably to the Chinese take out food we enjoyed at our last residence. My family and I will be regular customers.

I have had the unfortunate experience of eating this food on a few occasions. I have not tried everything they have to offer (thank God!), but I have been consistently disappointed by their food. I work downtown where it seems the only Chinese that can be ordered for delivery is from Crapp... I mean Happy Dragon. So, the first time I ordered it I was excited to be able to get Chinese food and avoid my works cafeteria. Mistake! The second time, I thought I'd give them a second chance because any place can have an off day or a bad dish. Instead of fried rice (which should be hard to mess up, but they did), I ordered lo mien, and once again, I was very disappointed. Extremely soggy, cold, and just plain bland. Now I wish I could say that was the last time I ate there, but sometimes you just really crave some Chinese and you think, "it couldn't possibly have been as bad as I remembered..." But I guess I do have a very good memory. So, if my co-workers order from there now I politely decline and mock their lack of taste buds. So, if you're hungry for Chinese then you should keep looking. But if you're training for Fear Factor, then go for it!! P.S. - To be fair, they do deliver their awful food in a very timely manner. They must be circling the block with a wok in a hatchback, making orders as they deliver.

When I want cheap Chinese take-out THIS is the place I go. My favorite dish is the Sesame Chicken with steamed rice. I usually go with some crab rangoon and/or an egg roll. What bugs me about a lot of Chinese chicken dishes is that a lot of the pieces end up being slimy once you bite into them. I usually never have that problem at Happy Dragon and each piece is nice white chicken breast.

    (4)
  • Robb M.

Very average. We have eaten here 5 times and it's just not that good. It's the only Chinese in German village, but really... It's disappointing. Update: We've been several times. It's decent if you are really wanting Chinese. Chicken Fried Rice is pretty decent. Soups are good.

  • Beth P.

I don't get it. Everyone I know raves about happy dragon. My experience lacked anything that I would brag or rave about. I ordered a lot of food for my friends and I, and was super disappointed. The chicken was stringy and dry, and the sauces all felt like they were "just add water" packaged sauces. Fried rice was flavorless and really disappointing crab rangoon. The restaurant also is older and always feels dirty. On the plus side, service was quick. I won't be back, and I will not recommend them to anyone. Sorry to those that rave about it, I don't get it.

  • Craig L.

I really loved Cheryl H.'s review. She is right, people talk about this place like it is the best. But for me, I have always found it to be just satisfying enough that I leave happy, yet not quite enough for me to tell others to try it out. Overall, pretty standard for both food and price. Nothing is going to leave you extremely disappointed, but nothing is going to have you ranting and raving either. Worth trying once, maybe twice.

Food is pretty gross. Typical American-Chinese food. Greasy. Meat tasted horrible...

  • Alex V.

Grumpy Dragon I really seemed to have inconvenienced the people working there, who seemed to be the owners, by placing an order of three dinners. They were anything but happy. The food was sub par, in my view as well. I won't go back.

I will start by saying I pretty much know what to expect form Chinese takeout. I am not under the illusion that there is some amazing, hole in the wall takeout place. They are all pretty much the same. But Happy Dragon left me with a bad taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally. I step into the restaurant for lunch on Friday and everyone behind the counter is scrambling for the lunch rush of call in orders. Since this is my first time here I take that as a good sign. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and egg roll combo which is slightly over $8. When I handed over my credit card I was asked if I have any cash. I looked down at the sign directly in front of me clearly stating there was a $5 minimum for cards. Though I could have argued, I go with the adage..."never F*** with people who handle your food". Plus I was hungry. I sat down on the other end of the restaurant to enjoy the view, my order was ready very quickly. I was notified of this by someone SCREAMING my order across the restaurant. Bringing out an order costs absolutely nothing for the amount of people they had there. I started with my egg roll since the chicken was extremely hot. The egg roll was surprisingly good. It had a good flavor and looked and tasted fresh, with a healthy mix of meat and veggies. The chicken however was extremely disappointing! The sauce was so tasteless that it may as well have not been there. Chinese brown sauce is something that is fairly standard in most places. I have no idea what they did to this but it literally had no aroma and no flavor. The chicken itself was very soft and soggy. Having worked in several places where deep fryers are present, I am aware this is indicative of old fryer oil that needs to be changed. Steamed rice is hard to mess up. It tasted like rice. Between the utter lack of service and the very "meh" dish. I doubt I will be returning.

I've been here several times and always had decent experiences. The food isn't anything crazy. The options are slim compared to some Chinese joints, but at least there isn't so much you get lost. Some dishes exceed expectations, others are just average. What warrants the four star for me is a few service factors: 1. Speed - service is always fast. I have rarely waited more than five minutes for food here. I usually do take out kinda late at night and I don't even shut my car off sometimes. 2. Special requests - the vegetarian and seafood menus are rather small compared to other places, but on numerous occasions they have let me substitute tofu for a meat in a dish. At my most recent visit, I ordered pepper steak, no meat, sub tofu, with black bean sauce added. I told the lady my order was going to annoy her, and she repeated it back to me twice just to make sure she got it right. The tofu was marinated in the black bean sauce just perfectly. It was amazing!

  • Bridget C.

Typical American Chinese restaurant. As a Chinese, I like a change of flavor to visit places like Panda express or Happy Dragon for some deep-fried, heavy-sauce-covered goodies. Happy Dragon can make your dish highly customizable, the female owner will ask you if you want extra spicy or if you want the kind of pepper in your dish, so hospitable. One thing I didn't understand was why most of the people who order food at Happy Dragon order them to go, their dinning area seems perfecting "dine-able" to me, in fact, when I go there I always dine in. Any idea? Great food, great service, will visit again!

  • April O.

Pros: Good crab rangoon, quick service. Cons: The General Tso's tasted like chicken nuggets in soy sauce, and the fried rice was just white rice with soy sauce poured on top. The price was high for the (lack of) quality. I will not be returning.

    (2)
  • Brad J.

Pretty terrible Chinese food... The General Tso was sauceless, the egg rolls were bland, and the crab rangoon was rubbery. I'm not a huge critic of Chinese food... But this is without question the worst Chinese food I've ever had.

  • Mark M.

The food is okay, but every time you come here the women that work there are extremely rude and inconsiderate. They have no value to their customers at all very unprofessional

    (1)
  • Todd H.

Never thought you could actually get "bad" general tso's chicken but I stand corrected. Honestly $7 for lunch had my expectations high but this tsos was absolutely awful! I never through away food but this was truly terrible and barely edible. Very disappointing.

I love their food, its cheap Chinese food, but their quality and quantity has been very consistent, you can also customize it, they are very accommodating to special requests, and its totally worth the price.

I normal don't review but this place was unfortunately not very good. We got two chicken dishes and both were bland and mushy.

There's unbelievable Chinese restaurants with delicious, complex meals and full service. There's good Chinese food with lots of tasty food for your buck and quick counter service. And then there's the disgusting Chinese food with amorphous meat and buffet offerings that have been sitting there since yesterday. Happy Dragon falls squarely in the middle. Don't expect an elegant atmosphere with white tablecloths, but don't be prepared to run out screaming either. You order your food at the counter from their large menu and either take it out or grab a booth or table. They might bring the food out to you if you dine in, but will more likely yell out your order so you can pick it up. The space is pretty spartan with the typical Asian artwork, but generally clean and lit. Pros: Most of the food is quite tasty. The Kung Pao chicken is delicious with slices of quality chicken, chunks of zucchini and other veggies, and lots of peanuts in a spicy sauce. The Pepper Chicken is great if you like hot, fresh sauteed jalapenos with onions and chicken. The hot and sour, egg drop, and wonton soups are all delicious. The crab rangoons are great and the egg rolls are solidly good. The fried rice is good. The service is really quick (5-15 min). Sometimes you don't know how they can possibly have your order ready when you swear you just ordered it. The entree portions, even the small, are enough for two meals if you have a soup or side (egg roll, crab rangoon, etc.) as well. Cons: The breading on the chicken in any dish with fried chicken chunks (General Tso's, Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken, etc.) is not good. Either the breading is too thick, they don't fry it enough to be crispy, or they let it sit in the sauce too long. It's too bready and gooey. The other issue is the entree sizes, which are available in small and large. I'm not sure as I haven't actually measured this, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the small and large are the same size. They put the two sizes in different containers (small = styrofoam clamshell for both the entree and rice, large = two Chinese takeout boxes; one large for entree and one medium for rice) so they look different. But having ordered the same menu items in different sizes multiple times, I really think there's no difference. I think you get as much or even more with the small size than the large so that's all I order now. The only other con is the service. As some other reviewers mentioned, no one at Happy Dragon is ever happy. They frown, they shrilly demand clarification, they bark at you when your order is ready, they do not care. But you know what? Neither do I. If the food is good and I'm getting take out, it's really not important. Sure, it'd be great if they were nicer, but it just doesn't matter much.

I used to love the Happy Dragon. I would crave their War Su Gai to help nurse me through my hangover. But over the last few years, the quality of their food just hasn't been as good. Now, when I order the war su gai, the chicken is burnt and dry and the sauce is the globby yellow stuff instead of their old delicious, dark brown gravy. Now, I stick to their won ton soup which is quite tasty and their chicken pad thai which has just the right amount of spice, but not enough veggies. It's the closest take-out place to me so I still eat here occasionally, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it anymore like I used to...

This place is not Happy. They should call the place crabby dragon because thats everyone I encountered tonight. My husband has always picked up the food, so hes a little more reserved with his opinions. Once I got there for my pick up order. They didnt even say hi. They just stood there waiting for me to let them know why I was there. I told them I had a pick up and she just slid all the food down the counter towards me and just told me the price. It felt like I was annoying her. As I paid she aggressively slapped the receipt on the counter like I wasnt going to sign it for her. Then she shoved my copy in my face as I was signing. The entire 4 minutes I was there I couldnt have felt more unwanted; like I was a pain in their ass for placing an order. Thank The Lord they dont deliver... Id be scared what would happen to my food because then Id be beyond a pain in their eyes. I'm really on the verge of being willing to drive 8 extra miles to another Chinese restaurant. They have ZERO appreciation for their customers. I really dont know how anyone else tolerates this place. Its sad.

Easy to get to, and a parking lot to boot! While this is more sit down than a mall variety, or more permanent furniture than a standard take-out, it is not an "order off the menu table side" joint. The food was very good, and the banter within the staff was on par with the pricing. Pricing is good, with both cans of pop, and fountain drinks with Pepsi products. Quick turnaround on the order fits a tight lunch schedule, including travel time. With the biggest Wok I've ever seen, they could easily put out anything that comes their way! Their sweet & sour is the thicker variety, which I really like! Hiding down in there was a piece or two of pineapple to keep it interesting. Quantity was great, enough to take home for another time when red watery crap is served (don't judge, Chinese food is a staple 'round here).

I ordered delivery and the food arrived quickly. The chicken in the Sesame Chicken was all-white meat in strips, which is absolutely perfect. Fried rice was offered as an option (vs. white rice) included with the meal. I'm used to an upcharge for fried rice.

Good food. Only decent Asian choice in German / Merion Village area. They have a monopoly in area. Monopoly allows them to treat customers as necessary evils So cheap that ownership puts take out food in styrofoam clamshell containers. Cheap because this style packaging holds less food, not to mention they leak sauces all over the bag and your car. Some items are good--especially the soups. Hope they can change their attitudes and the take out packaging. Hope someday competition enters the marketplace.

Service was fast. Staff did not greet us immediately. After that though, they took our order. Food was hot. Mongolian beef was really tender. Rice delicious. Sweet and sour good too!

Food is usually ready within 10 minutes and it's good, greasy Chinese that satisfies the craving. The lo me in and egg rolls are the usual order. A large order is enough for lunch the next day.

If you're in German Village and craving some Chinese take-out, then Happy Dragon is your place. It's not great, but it doesn't suck either. Between the Mister and me, we tried sweet and sour chicken, General Tso's chicken, egg rolls, and hot and sour soup. The sauce on the Tso's was really dark and bland. The sweet and sour chicken was a better option. The egg rolls were filled with beef and chicken, and they were pretty tasty. And the Mister loved the soup. The service was the real winner here. My order was ready in about 15 minutes, and everyone there was incredibly sweet and helpful. If you're driving all over Cbus looking for delicious Chinese food, you may want to skip Happy Dragon. But if you're in the neighborhood and have a hankering, you totally give Happy Dragon a try.

Yeah, Happy Dragon is about as three stars as they come. Food that's ok: not great, not bad. Service that's ok: not great, not bad. A dining room that's ok: not great, not bad. You get the picture? If you're craving some Chinese food, and you're in the area, and there's really no other place to go, you won't be disappointed. If you've got time to get up to Sun Tong Luck, but you choose Happy Dragon instead, you'll definitely be a sad dragon. And as for portion sizes, Happy Dragon is pretty typical. The "small" size is usually enough to feed two or maybe three people. Two of us had a small pork fried rice, small general tso, crab rangoon, spring roll, and two Pepsis for around $21, and we had left overs.

The food is great. I have been here many times over the past 10 years. The service has always been kinda hit or miss. They are a bit rough handling the phone and when they say what time they close they really mean it. They let you know of your intruding their closing duties.

Spicy pork and vegetables with steamed rice was very good.

It's pretty god awful. But it's quick and if you're in German Village and really want Chinese it's there at least. There's really not much more to say. The parking lot seems too small - tough to back up in.

I don't know about anyone else, but I really dig Happy Dragon. Chinese take out is hit or miss, it can be hard to find dishes I like around town. The sesame chicken has been consistently good throughout the years. I think the rice tastes fine. I mean, how hard is it to make rice in a rice cooker? There's no problems with the menu, the service, or the location. I've never had delivery, so I can't comment on that. Maybe it's not everyone's tiny cup of green tea, but Happy Dragon has always taken care of me.

This place is garbage! Have eaten takeout from there over a dozen times - Why so much? Because there isnt anyplace else in GV to get chinese take out. Which is why, I suspect, this place is still in business.

This is the closest Chinese food place to us now that we moved to Merion Village. We have been a few times now for carry-out orders only. I am not too impressed with the food, but will probably continue to go here when I want takeout due to the proximity. I haven't had anything particularly good from their menu: the Pad Thai and Lo Mein are pretty average, the crab rangoon are subpar (the filling is basically just sweet cream cheese), and the fried rice tastes unusual to me--really peppery, perhaps? I'm a noodles girl, but the husband has tried different beef and pork dishes and his general sentiment is, "Meh." Verdict: Give it a try if you live in German/Merion Village and you really want to eat Chinese in your pajamas at home. If you're putting real pants on already, maybe drive a little further and dine in somewhere else.

We used to order from here all the time when I was at Children's hospital - delivery was usually quick and accurate (Big pluses in my book!) and the food was solid. Not awful like some other "Chinese" places in Columbus. Try the chicken with black bean sauce or the spicy fried green beans - both were regulars in my orders. I'm not one to order things like general tso's or sesame or sweet and sour, so I can't give you an opinion on those, sorry!

This is a order at the register joint which you have the option to do take out or eat-in. I couldn't tell from their menu if they specialized in Hunan, Szechuan, etc. We walked in about 2pm on Sat. There were a few people eating there but I noticed most of the customers coming in ordered their food to go. Food is typical standard American chinese. This is fine with me since it's a consistently reliable comfort food for me in unknown areas and offers options as a vegetarian and flavors I enjoy (soy, garlic, chili oil) with fresh veggies, tofu, and rice. The dining area was surprising quite spacious, and I liked the brightness of the the place as it had plenty of windows. I ordered a small hot and sour soup ($1.50) which was served steaming hot and had a nice spicy broth. It had tofu, two kinds of mushrooms, red pepper flakes, and bits of pork. Also ordered their moo goo gai pan ($5.75) with fried rice. This is a vegetable stir fry in white sauce typically with slices of chicken breast. It was served in a styrofoam container with two scoops of rice. And also got the kiddies the general Tso's chicken with white rice ($6.25). This batter-dipped goodness was all chicken breast rather than the typical dark meat. The sauce was syrupy sweet and smelled aromatic of orange and garlic. I liked the fact it had it's own parking lot, which was a relief I didn't have to deal with being annoyed of feeding a meter unlike the downtown area right around the corner. And I could take my time to eat instead of watching the clock. I would definitely come by again to order the same items and possibly some veggie lo mein.

Just revisited this place after a several year hiatus and was impressed. I used to live right behind this joint and always just thought it was decent in a pinch, but not the best food. Kind of a two-star place. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of my food at lunch today. I ordered the spicy chicken and eggplant and it was hella good!!! Fresh eggplant sliced in long purple-haze colored strips - white meat chicken and some szechuan peppers and green onions stir fried in a brown sauce that wasn't too thick and overwhelming. SPICY, HOT and FRESH!. What else can you ask for from a Chinese place? My other got the cashew chicken, which was also very good with zucchini, onions, celery and carrots stir fried (no green peppers - YEA!) It still may not be the best Chinese food in the city, but my lunch was excellent and a huge portion and reasonably priced. I would definitely go back and if you haven't been here in a while, you should re-visit it as well.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
