Food is worlds better than ding ho around the corner. Something happened years ago to Ding Ho that was in this location. The name went around the corner but the location changed their name to Dragon Palace and kicked butt on the food!! The food is never made in advance and doesn't sit in a food tray. Menu is varied from a traditional Asian Menu with very specific twists on an old traditional theme. West Broad Street might be out of the way and this strip might not be an inviting area of Columbus but Dragon Palace is worth the trip!

Ah, I am a sucker for these old time capsule places.. they get my right in the feels, man. Enough sentimentality... I enjoyed my visit to Dragon Palace. It was quaint, and frankly intimate, because.. well, we were the only people in the entire dining room. This could be mostly in part of it being 4pm, and the beginning of rush-hour on a Monday during a Tornado Warning. If I should perish in this old 1940's time capsule bunker-esque building attached to a For Sale crack hotel, then it damn well.. better taste good. No Tornado warning will stop me from a decent meal. The service was good and of COURSE it was, we were the only people there. This is one of the old school joints that still serve you complimentary ice water in a fancy stemmed glass. We ordered our usual American Chinese staples and indulged while taking everything in. It reminded me of my dear Peacock West down the road.. now closed, but not forgotten. The dishes were served, and they were actually quite good. In my opinion is was close to being on par with my experience at Ding Ho's. Good Egg rolls and all. The General Tso's was a little sweet, it could have had a bit more of a kick for me, but it was still A-OK. The House lo Mein hit the spot perfectly, but wasn't really my all-time favorite. I'd gladly stop by again to try some other dishes on their menu. A-OK plus some, and we didn't die from the Tornado. Phew!

ordered the Gen Toes with fried rice the gen toes tasted like it had ketchup with sugar for a sauce very NASTY!! as for the chicken itself it was dark meat you could tell by the taste, as for the rice it was very bland and tasted like it was left over from the day before, not impressed at all, Place was dirty, containers for the sauces (mustard, duck sauce) were dirty. and they charge per drink instead of like a soda fountain. I was there between 12-12:30 place was empty while I was there there were a total of 3 customers, 2 of which was take-out and myself..

I don't go to Chinese buffets anymore because I always get a headache within 15 minutes of my first bite. Last few times I tried takeout, I had the same problem. I'd given up on eating Chinese food that I didn't make myself. When my boyfriend said "hey, a bunch of work friends are getting together for dinner at Dragon Palace," I agreed to go, but I had aspirin in my purse. Turns out I needn't have bothered. Whatever it is in buffet and takeout Chinese food that gives me a headache is not present in anything I ate at Dragon Palace (I suspect MSG, but can't say for sure). The potstickers were fabulous, I actually ate so many of them that I didn't have room for much else that was served. The beef with Chinese broccoli had great flavor and the meat wasn't mostly gristle like you get at some places. I didn't even get to try a chicken dish, but I suspect that now that the boyfriend knows it doesn't give me headaches, we will be back frequently and I'll have plenty of chances. Try the potstickers!

I went to visit an old girlfriend today. Her name is Dragon Palace. We used to date every now and again back in the day when her name was Ding Ho - Far West Restaurant. I really have to say my girl's looking better than she did 4 or 5 years ago when I last saw her. On our last date, she looked tired and worn out. Kinda shabby to tell the truth. Dragon had also gotten to the point where she had lost her passion for cooking. She was a pale reflection of what she was in her prime. I felt bad not going back to see her but things just weren't the same. But now? Well, she's different. Better even. I know what it is! She's had a face lift and she's gotten herself back in shape. You know, she really looks good again. Dragon decided to make me lunch,. She made me my favorites, actually! She knows I love Kung Pao Chicken and Egg Drop Soup! Both were very good. She's got her mojo back. She's back to being the girl I remember. The good times we had. The great food. The fru fru cocktails that made every visit so enjoyable. I'm interested in dating again. You know, nothing too serious. Maybe I could come over every now and again. I think it's great to have her back in my life again. I appreciate the time she took to make me feel at home. She took care of me like she did in the old days. I really enjoyed my visit with her and I'll be seeing Dragon sometime again, very soon.

Sad face for this place. Hungry Stomach needed taste Soggy Chicken Blah! I came in and ordered to go and the two ladies were so nice, the other reviews so positive, and my stomach so excited. I ordered Black Pepper Chicken, Chicken Egg Foo Young, Egg Roll and Crab Ragoon. The only thing I would order again is the egg roll. The Black Pepper Chicken was breaded chicken that was soggy drenched in a sauce with black pepper. The taste wasn't even tasty and I can't eat soggy chicken. The Egg foo Young's gravy was tasteless and not my type. The Crab Ragoon was very blah without that sweet cream cheese and crab taste. They were also tiny. The only thing this place has going for it is the two sweet ladies that greeted me, decent prices and a decent egg roll. That saved them a one star review. I guess they may also have some people on the west side as customers. I will head west to the Lincoln Village area for my west side Chinese cuisine.

5 stars for service for sure, but like someone else said I always go for the General Tsos when I first visit a place and mine was way to sweet, no spice at all, and the sauce was real thick and tasted less like General Tso and more like a thinned out Jelly like a plum flavored one, so I won't get that again, but I will in fact go back and try other stuff. My honey got the Mongolean beef and it was pretty tasty the meat was juicy and tender (what no fat or grissle? LOL) oh speaking of my chicken in the General Tso was really good, no fat and cooked just right, no chewy this or soggy that. The egg rolls were very tasty and so was the crab rangoon. I am not a huge fan of those table condiments as who knows who touched them or how long they have been sitting there, but I used them. The bread to me is just pointless to bring they should really ask you first, because I knew I had plenty of carbs comin my way and so the whole basket just went to waste. They have many dishes I have never seen before and most importantly this place is great for groups and families because they have a pretty big array of American cuisine on here so if your kids hate Chinese food and it is your passion this is a great place for you they have spagetti, cheeseburgers, onion rings, fried mushrooms, and heck even Filet Minion Woot woot! I love the Feng Shui of this place it is quite nice and cosey in here. Good place, Good food, I think they have beer too, Good prices with lunch specials and family specials too! If you are out on West Broad and you hanker for Chinese try them out, but if you love General Tso ask for extra spice and be prepared for a very thick and way too sweet sauce. So out of all my current reviews where is my favorite General Tso.....Peking Wok on West Broad (pretty sure they call it the bottoms) but once again the sauce is way too sweet, no spice, but still taste not like plums but like General Tso andthe sauce is normal not uber thick.......(also please note.....when I say no spice I mean the kick of taste is not there as I can't handle hot n spicy, but a typical General Tso with the usual kick that I have grown to know and love I can) Oh, one more thing, they do not have egg drop wonton soup and for that they lost the soup sale, but I mention that in case you are only looking for that so that you know they don't have it here.

Ahhhh yes - what happens when a large family of one of the oldest Chinese American (or is that American Chinese) restaurants in the city feuds and breaks up? Well most of the family moved to Phillippi Road. The hold out rennovates the old place and opens up a competing restaurant. As is the case with the Dragon Palace. A pale copy of its older sibling Ding Ho, it does have it's own qualities and specialties. You walk in and can see some updating, the relics of the 1950's Ding Ho have been brought into the late 20th century with nice wood tables, new booths, and some noisy soft drink coolers in what used to be the Pagoda Lounge. Yup, the Pagoda Lounge didn't fare too well in the remodel... The food is pretty solid American Chinese. You can order a burger as well, if that tickles your fancy. The eggrolls are the best thing on the menu - very similar to Ding Ho, packed even tighter with cabbage, shredded meat. And they even have Ding Ho's unique duck sauce - swet and sour with apricot and vinegar - this is reason enough to go to these two restaurants. The menu is varied - old time dishes like wou sue gai, chicken sub gum chop suey and egg foo yung are prepared in the "Ding Ho" style...but ultimately the taste is like 90% there but missing one ingredient here or there....The chicken lo mein is pretty good, but very different from the Ding Ho. You still get that delicious Auddino Italian bread with your entree - and they even warm it up here....=) So try it out - cheap eats and great carry out.....

Ever since I came here with a friend, it has entertained a certain place in my heart. From the exterior, you may not necessarily be impressed - but I've learned long ago not to judge a book by its cover. On the inside - it's a really nice place to eat. One I'd gladly take friends out to eat at. The service was great - we were served by the owner who was friendly and eager to chat us up. The food was much better than the Chinese buffet fare that I'm used to, and in good portions... I couldn't be happier. They've earned a new customer.

So glad we found the place! Used to eat here when it was Ding Ho. Come to find out the original sauces and most of the dishes are the same! Huge portions. Like all Chinese restaurants, some dishes are better than others. Love the wor dip par. The General Tso, not so much. Not enough heat and heavily breaded, but the egg rolls are delicious and the bread is very good. Will definitely return. The service is outstand, and the place is much cleaner than before.

Love the old school Chinese feel of the place, good food and the best egg rolls around.

My spouse was craving Chinese, and honestly, we've really not found anything we've liked in the Columbus area other than P.F. Chang's. Well, my husband remembered seeing this place. So, I went to find reviews, address and a menu, and we placed our order for pick up. Quick and easy take-out service and delicious, plentiful food! We've been here seven times since January. The staff/owners have always been polite. The dining room is pleasant, and I'd have no objection bringing friends here and look forward to doing so very soon. You receive 10% off your take out order, the portions are more than generous, and the lunch selections are varied. The daily specials are always an excellent value. It's great to know there's great Chinese close by our home in the Hilltop. We've had the General Tso's Chicken, Lemon Chicken, MooShu Pork, Broccoli Beef and Szechuan Beef and fried rice. Not one bad thing so far! Can't wait for next week's order as it's our new mid-week treat. Don't judge this particular book by it's cover!

They have good lunch pricing. Dragon Palace is not bad. Our company got if for lunch and got mixed reviews. The services was good, and food was fresh. The egg roll was very large. I will try again and leave another review.

I'm guilty of having to try the general tso's at every chinese restaurant I go to before exploring the rest of the menu. I think it's really hard to find good chinese but I have to say it was pretty good. The sauce was a bit strong with hoisin sauce but still decent. The egg rolls are really good. The service left something to be desired but overall it was a good experience.

I continue to eat here, and continue to be impressed. Beef and peppers is great. Bumping it up to a 4.

Previously we were a fan of Ding Ho's but decided to try out their old location. They both serve our favorite dish War Dip Har (shrimp dish). This was the best ever. We also enjoyed the egg rolls and the Wonton soup. In addition to being better than Ding Ho's it was less expensive. We have a new FAVE!

My wife and I moved to Westgate a little over two years ago. There happens to be quite a few Chinese restaurants in the area. We have tried most of them to find one that we really liked. Dragon Palace is the best place on the west side. They are very helpful on the phone, and are very fast when you place your order. They have the best General Tso's chicken around, and the other dishes are very good as well. They are great for take out, but the atmosphere inside is wonderful as well. It looks like a Chinese restaurant from the 60's inside, but modernized. There is exposed brick walls and it is tastefully decorated. All in all I'm happy to order food from here every time, and I'm happy that our search has ended with such a great place.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
