Just FYI - when you know it's going to be a busy day (treat day for Children's Hospital), don't go to your job and complain. I waited in line for a Blizzard to treat myself tonight and also it was the benefit for Children's Hospital so why not? Sat in the drive through for several minutes but once I got to the window all I heard was employees complaining about how they could see the drive through from where they were standing and saying, "Who would even wait in that line?" Um I did, and you know that you work at DQ and know what your job is so why are you complaining? Then on top of that I got the wrong Blizzard. Annoying.

stopped in this morning because we had a buy one get one free coupon. they opened at 11 and we were there at 11:15. on the outside, we were greeted with bugs and trash [and trash on top of the trash!]. on the inside, the first employee was leaning on the counter on her elbows looking at us as if she were bored out of her mind. the rest of the staff looked equally as exhilarated while lazily strolling about in the back. we ordered two original juliuses but were charged for smoothies [fine...we paid a few cents less]. as our culinary artists were lackadaisically making our orders, we glanced around the restaurant and noticed that it was very run down. happy to be taking our drinks to go. this is the second time we have been to this location within the past year or two and will probably not be back, with or without a coupon. p.s. the drinks were terrible...we suffered through as much as we could and threw the rest away. sad experience!

This is one of the worst Dairy Queen... no, one of the worst fast food restaurants that's currently still in business in Columbus. Despite all the negative reviews, the management staff and/or the owner doesn't seem to care because all the problems mentioned in reviews from 2014 are still prevalent. The food is typical DQ, and I've never had food poisoning here, so I'll give them a pass on the food. What's truly horrible here is the service. Some of it might be due to crappy staff, but when I went today during the lunch rush, they only had 3 people working the entire store! 1 person manning the drive-thru, 1 person manning the front register AND decorating ice cream cakes (because apparently people come in to order birthday cakes in the middle of the lunch rush), and 1 person in the back cooking all the orders. You can't possibly expect a fast food restaurant to function efficiently with staffing like that. Because of this, service is slow, the food quality is poor, and the front register isn't always manned. I saw multiple people walk out without ordering because there seriously wasn't anyone to take their order. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even properly train the said overworked staff. This would seem to me a massive failure on the part of the management and the owner(s). Robert Irvine and Restaurant Impossible needs to come here and revamp everything. Oh, and they don't accept Dairy Queen coupons. "It's the owner's policy" is what the cashier will tell you. And looking at Gwendolyn B.'s review, they apparently don't honor promotions that Dairy Queen HQ advertises nationwide either. Avoid at all costs.

Not too impressed with the ppl he guy at the counter was an idiot asked me what size told him the size rang up the wrong thing then asked me to repeat my order and then asked what size I wanted seems like this dq is geared mostly towards food not many options for ice team the coolers where the cakes and packs of buster bars empty kinda disappointed with how the people and the layout is not my favorite place. But they have had any viral infections of bacteria like other ice cream places keep your fingers crossed

The only Dairy Queen in Columbus that does not honor coupons or offers on comercials. They also don't fill the blizzard cup to the top.

I don't usually review chain stores but seriously this franchise is failing in all aspects! This place deserves -1 star! It is honestly that horrible because when we wanted to order, no one was at the front counter. Hello? Knock knock? Anyone actually works here? Nope! There were 5 guys working, front counter guy literally walked out after taking the order of the people in front of us and never came back so then there were 4.... whom totally ignored us and chatted happily in the back. They clearly saw us, I'm not sure why they were being so unfriendly. I don't understand why this place is still open and why nothings been fixed when there are complaints since the beginning of time. I'm actually glad we didn't end up placing an order, a place that turns a blind eye on customers don't deserve business. Ps:if you enjoy eating with flies, this is the place to go!

This is the worst DQ in the U.S. I used to work at a DQ when I was in H.S in Dublin (Perimeter Road one when it was still around) so I kinda have an idea on how things were run. We went on Sunday night, line was about 6 deep at the drive thru, but it still took forever, almost 20 minutes to get to the window. We ordered a large swirl cone with sprinkles and a Large Mister Misty Float, My float had so little ice cream in it, i barely had 3 scoops of soft serve in it. It also came to 6 bucks, I should have asked for a receipt, but I didn't care, just get me far far away. There were 4 people working, 2 kids were on there smart phones, one had ear buds on and they were just sitting around- I mean, where is a manager? an owner? I can understand if they are closed, but the line wrapped around the store and they couldn't care less about the customer. Dont waste your $, dont waste your time at this location- It should be condemned.

Not only is the staff friendly, not only is my food always made fast and accurately...but Misty, the Manager, even remembers what I order and always greets me. Even on my worst days, a trip to this Dairy Queen makes me feel better :).

Horrible service. HORRIBLE. Rude kids working here. We get you hate you job, but common! Summertime is worse for sure. But when this is the only DQ around what else are you to do when you want a blizzard.

It's no secret that Dairy Queen is better experienced at their roadside shacks than it is at their dining-room stores.Who can deny that, like the Tastee Freeze and Mom-and-Pop dips, taking a short walk and waiting outside a DQ for delicious ice cream isn't a part of the grand Americana summer? But when one gets a craving for DQ grub one will take whatever form the DQ comes, never minding the dull interior and awkward waiting area. But when the food quality falls short, and the service falls even shorter, you get a waste of time and money. I came here after a long bike ride jonesing for a footlong, fried mushrooms, and a chocolate shake. This DQ, riding the front grasses at Carriage Place off Bethel, had never been stellar, but it had never failed to deliver good food either. The first thing I noticed upon entering was The Lord of the Flies environment of the staff. There simply seems to be no adult around; there were nothing running the island but kids. They were joking, making loud commits, and jerking around. There were several of them there. Some seemed like part of a clique, other cowered away almost alienated. One boy seemed a bully, he kept kicking my cashier while he was taking my order. It was weird. Some joviality and fun by staff makes a place festive; I don't need stick-up-the-caboose professionalism; but this was over the top. Why do they serve the shakes before the meal? You have it almost done before the main portion is served. They need to change that. The food was disappointing. Maybe I'm spoiled by all the fantastic food trucks around, but the footlong was blah to the nth-degree. It tasted microwaved--and undercooked at that. The mushrooms are shallow copies of what they once were. Bland and boring, they seemed to have sat under hot lights for too long. The shake was good though. Just a disappointing trip all the way around.

Came here on a Sunday night and there were already cars lined up well past the restaurant. Probably 6 or 7 in front of us, at least. We got to the window and were told to wait. We were then waiting at least 5-7 minutes before anyone talked to us again. We finally ordered and the guy working couldn't hear us. There was also a big pothole/bump in the drive-thru that everyone had to drive over. We then waited a lot longer for our actual dessert - a star kiss (because pre-packaged is the way to go here, I'd say) and a chocolate blizzard with cookie dough. Star kiss was freezer burned and the chocolate blizzard was vanilla. What a disaster! Here's hoping the many cars in front of and behind us had a slightly better experience...

Disgusting counters and drive-thru! Incompetent staff that all look like un-showered 12-15yr olds. Yikes guys.... Get it together over there! I will never go there again after what I have seen tonight!

Brought my kid in for some ice cream and then seen how dirty and ran down it is.. Well the boy wanted ice cream and we were here the dufus behind the counter stood in the back will I was waiting to order finally came up and took my order what he brought out to me was what I ordered but the worst in my 20 some years of eating ice cream the waffle cone was paper thin and stale 3/4 full these guys need taken over by another franchise and remodeled and new staff the only other one is worthington and never had a bad experience there!!!!

I came here Saturday night around 8:30 and it was pretty bad. My wife and I came in just wanting a blizzard, but it appeared that there were only 2 workers present. One was taking orders from the drive through and processing all their orders while the other lady was at the front processing all the walk in orders. I didn't see anyone in the back (like you normally do, waiting to process food orders). Anyway, the employee takes the order of the lady in front of me and disappears for a good 10 minutes. She re-appears with the lady's 3 blizzards and then asks me what I want. I ask for the strawberry chocolate blizzard (It was the special on the board). During the 5 minutes i was waiting, I took a look at the operations and it looked pretty nasty back there. I would definitely not recommend eating here as everything looks like there is a layer of grease. They really don't take care of the place at all. After about 5 minutes, i get my blizzard. by this time there's about 10 people waiting to order. I mean seriously, 2 people? oh, and then a third lady popped out after i got my order, so 3. Honestly, it was probably the worst blizzard I have ever had in my life. first time for my wife, so I was very sad for her. the blizzard was pretty much pulverized and had tiny bits in it. not a single 'chunk' could be found. it wasn't rich and thick, it was kinda runny and gross. What made it worst was that we had to play table roulette, almost all of them were dirty and I had to clean one off myself to sit. we ended up going to the wendys and getting a frosty to make up for this travesty.

We went at lunchtime on Sunday and there was no one in sight. The service was just awful and with that kind of motivation I highly doubt anything is clean. I won't be going back for sure.

  • Heather D.

Horrible. The service stinks. The employees are rude. I ordered a $5 buck lunch and it did not even come in a box and it was missing the sauce for the chicken strips. When I went in to ask for the sauce I was given attitude by the employee behind the register she stated, "We only give that out when it is asked for" to which I replied "I did ask for it", regardless how about not giving paying customers attitude. They lost a customer and I have informed my fellow 40+ office workers to never go to this location unless they want to be treated like crap. I have ordered the $5 buck lunch at other locations and never had a bad experience. The chicken tenders were the smallest I have ever received and they taste like they were cooked this morning.

This place just sucks. End of story. Forever a long line, and timed the drive thru orders tonight and it took each car 5 mins. I pulled up and sat from 825 pm to 830pm before I was even GREETED at the drive thru. Do they only have one person working?! Ever!? This is not my first horrible experience here, all I ever get is a slushie with ice scream, and the past 3 out of 4 times I tried to order it over a range of 2 months and was told several lies that either their machine was broken or that they didn't have the ingredients. My boyfriend tried to order a burger once and was told that wasn't working either. Awesome, everyone that works here is rude or doesn't know their own menu. I'm done giving them anymore of money, pathetic. I could've drove to Walmart, walked in and bought my own ice cream and be home enjoying it faster than this crap!

Went to this DQ, drove through the drive-thru, all I ordered was an ice cream cone with the chocolate dip. Easy and quick. But instead I waited like 15 minutes in the drive-thru line, unable to get out of line, to be charged over 2 dollars for an ice cream cone that was completely melted under the chocolate shell. If you knew you were gonna be slower than crap you could have waited to make the cone until I got up to the window. Disappointing and overpriced.

Around 9pm last night I did submit a formal complaint with DQ Corporate following my Yelp Review, and am pleased to say that around noon today I was contacted via phone AND e-mail by the Operations Manager. He advised that he will personally make all necessary corrections, re-communicate the importance of food safety and quality to his teams, and assured me that something like this will never happen again. I never expected to hear from Dairy Queen, if anything I thought I might get an electronically generated e-mail acknowledging receipt of my complaint, or maybe the manager of the store would contact me through Yelp. I am so impressed with Dairy Queen's due diligence in taking my account seriously and advising me of the plan to make corrections. Their near instant response has proven their slogan: "We Treat You Right." As I began my initial review below, I DO love Dairy Queen and am excited that the necessary changes will be made for me to revisit this location and continually adjust/evaluate my review based on my experiences.

I went to this DQ last night. I would have to say, yeah I agree with the last review saying that they are out of things (being the soft serve machine was broken so you couldn't get a swirl), but I thought the staff was really nice. I only went through the drive thru, but it seemed like the people working there enjoyed their job. They did make an accomodation to my swirl by giving me chocolate with vanilla on top.

We have never been treated so rudely and bizarrely in our lives as we were this evening at the Bethel Road Dairy Queen. My friend and I got in the long line hoping to get some dinner before our movie. It was Saturday night so I thought to walk over and get tickets while my friend ordered our dinner. I came back and perfect timing~ he was next in line. The young man clerk asked 'Did you just get here?' Well, yes, in essence I had. I had just returned and come in the side door to rejoin my friend in line. My friend, however, had NEVER left our place in line. We multi-tasked the dinner and a movie ticket lines and all was well...or so we thought. The clerk returned my smile with a sneer and disappeared from the counter area to the back of the store. He returned, self-satisfied to announce that his manager had said that he could not serve us since we had not waited in the line. 'The line is back there', he said....uh, yeah, my friend replied. He had been waiting in it, uninterrupted for the preceding 15 minutes. We tried to explain this to him but he was very pleased with the idea, which he had invented, that we were line jumpers. I asked to speak to the manager myself. We told her that one of us had indeed maintained our place in line. Fortunately, the people in front of us AND the people behind us confirmed our story. 'Oh, well, then we can serve you,' she replied---no apology, no remorse, no embarrassment for the uncalled for way they had treated us and refused service. My friend was about to proceed with our order, thinking normalcy had returned. I decided we could not trust food preparation to such rude and incompetent people and I told them as much. We left and we won't be back. There are years of this sort of rude behavior at this location as per Yelp, yet it seems yet Dairy Queen remains unconcerned with these ambassadors of ill will for their corporate image at this location. Being refused service is serious business. Civil rights movements have started in response to the same. This was egregious. If you like your dignity and have some self respect, don't trust these people to mistreat you --- much less prepare your food! The only reason this location has business is the very busy adjacent movie theater from which they are evidently unfamiliar with customers purchasing tickets....

Sometimes Yelpers get it right. Don't be like us and think "it's DQ, how bad could it be." This place is as slow and bad as the other reviewers have said. Avoid at all costs. Update. Still in drive thru over 20 minutes later - yet to order. DQ should shut this place down to preserve their reputation. Yikes!

  • Rojo G.

I'd almost forgotten about my recent experience at this DQ, then I surfed through the reviews here. While I'd rather not pile on, I will affirm some of the complaints seen below. Drive-thru slow? Check. Beavis and Butthead staff? Check. Food item made correctly? No. I've had the peanut buster parfaits for years, not sure how you could screw it up. Usually done with more ice cream, it's a tall container, fill 'er up already. I don't think there's another DQ within 10 miles so if I get a craving I might be back. Or I can go across the street to Graeter's and get ice cream done right the first time.

Yikes!
