If you go to Club 185, you gotta get the Club 185 Burger (duh)! You can order single or double, with or without cheese. I had the single with cheese, plus a side of fries. It made for a very comforting dinner. The burger is just right- not too fancy, but certainly tasty. My favorite part about the Club 185 burger is the 185 sauce (which is either mayo or very close to it). The vibe is cool and dark (but they have candles to illuminate their menus). The service was friendly and professional.

Favorite hang out place in German village. Drinks are cheap, especially during happy hour. The food is great but nothing crazy. Best fish tacos I've had in Columbus. The place is short staff but they work super hard and are very friendly. Looks kind of odd on the outside but has a very cool feeling on the inside. A place to go if you want to eat good food and drink beers with friends for a few hours.

Love this little swanky place! Great drinks and egg salad. I haven't had the meatloaf yet, but hear it's amazing! I look forward to returning.

A friend came here to wait on me to get off work because the internet told him it was a "dive bar" close to my house. He lamented that this place should be renamed "Suits and Cologne." That about sums it up. I've been a handful of times, once when they closed their kitchen early and wouldn't serve me food, another where I had an alright early dinner with a couple of friends, and this time, where I sucked down a Bulleit & ginger beer and got out of there as fast as I could. Only a dive bar by Suit standards. The bartender had a forearm tattoo. Maybe that makes it divey? Fucking chauch city.

Been wanting to try this place for a long time. I finally found myself in the neighborhood, so I stopped in for a drink & app. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. They only have six taps, but there's something for everybody. Their real claim to fame is cocktails, though. The menu is small, but diverse. The open faced veggie sandwich is OUTSTANDING! According to my waitress, they never change the menu, but she just overheard the chefs trying some new dishes that they were excited about. So, I'll definitely have to come back and bring the wife.

This is a place I drive by everyday and it's walk able from my place. I've heard great things about the burgers and it was Friday, stressful week at work so why not? I walked as it was a beautiful day. My only concern would be that it would be packed because of happy hour. I doesn't seem to be much of a happy hour crowd as there were only a few people there (at about 5). Maybe they were coming later. There happy hour doesn't seem like too big a deal...just some drafts and drink specials. I asked if there were food specials and the bartender didn't really answer me just handed me a menu. The guy next to me ordered the Cuban sandwich which he said was awesome. Instead of the burger I took his lead. I ordered mine with fries and a Stella. The fries are the thinner, crispier ones which I love These did not disappoint. The sandwich was also great. Not too pricey...good portion. Seems like good dependable food. The service wasn't bad but they weren't overzealous at all. That's not a bad thing. I don't need/want to be annoyed by someone. I wouldn't have minded if the person that took my order stopped by to see how it was. It did seem like they were in a shift change so that might have had something to it. There were two new people that seemed to be taking over for my server. All in all something I'm glad to have close by. Very warm inside, stamped tin ceilings, wood, warm bar and booths.

One of my favs in Cbus. Killer wings-original extra crispy. A great pour, good beer and wine. Recently there to say goodbye to a great friend on his last shift. Bittersweet--love the people, love the food. Easy parking across the streer in the church parking lot.

I'm still a big fan of Club 185. It's got that low-key ambiance, with decently priced food and drinks. I tried their 185 Burger and it's solid. For $4-5, it's one of the best non-chain restaurant hamburgers around. Their happy hour is great. $2-3 pints of Lake Erie Monster also help. It's no wonder Club 185 is a work favorite!

German Village has the best neighborhood bars in the city. (Sorry, Grandview.) Club 185 is and has been a top-notch place to eat and drink forever. Typical GV: windows in the front, dark wood paneling and bar, dim in the back where the jukebox is. Local memorabilia, business memorabilia, marginally comfortable seats - check, check and check. Atypical GV: Abundant parking across the street, north of Livingston. A bit of an early dinner (happy hour dinners are like the 30-something answer to the early-bird special) brought us around for a couple pints of local brews, onion rings, fish tacos (grilled fish, so tasty, with plenty of veggies and hot sauce) and the 185 burger. Even though the serve "bar food," it's done with a little extra something - fresh oil in the fryer, nice hot grill, the right spices - makes Club 185 not just another GV pub. So good.

There is a small outdoor patio to sit, right off the street, you can see some pretty nice views of the area. The waitress was really friendly and had good drink recommendations. The Cuban sandwich was amazing! I wanted to order another one :-) Definitely going back, nice spot to meet up with friends after work and have good food

Oh Club 185. I had not been in a while, stopped by last night. My drink was prepared exactly the way I like it. Bartender was attractive, and shared my love of bitters. I was even offered a couple ideas for other drinks which were similar, that I may be interested in in the future. That's a level of service and bartender competence that you don't see often. Atmosphere is always nice. Crowd is pleasant. Good mix of young and old. Very friendly place overall. Bonus - there is a cigarette machine tucked away in the back for emergencies. All of that being sad, the food is just unimpressive. My "Spinach Artichoke Dip" was more like a soup. It was served with some all right bread and some lifeless pita. It wasn't terrible, but it's definitely not good. Both of our pizzas were very over salted. I'm literally still thirsty today. I haven't had much better experiences with anything else on the menu. With so many great places opening up in Columbus, I find myself here less and less. I don't think that will change anytime soon. P.S. - They did brand the pizza boxes, which is pretty tight.

I love everything about this place. Probably one of my favorite spots in Columbus. Found it when I first moved to Columbus and was living right down the street. Became an instant hot spot for my roommate and I. Classy, comfortable atmosphere with great food and beverage. The daily double is where it's at!

I went for the photobooth, as seen on photobooth.net . My photobooth addiction is pretty strong. The booth itself works well, runs a little on the dark side when processing, but it's the real deal old school booth. $4 for four poses, and the strips come out within a few minutes. The place is located right off of Route 70 so it made the lunch stop super easy. Service was great, food was pretty darn tasty and the menu options were vast. I went with the Club 185 salad, which hit the spot with its bountiful fresh veggies (lettuce, green beans, red potato, olives, tomato) and a lovely mustard based dressing. I also sampled the mac and cheese, yum! My husband ordered the margarita pizza, that seemed to be sauceless, and looked a little like a frozen pizza, but the crust was actually really good. I don't think I'd call it margarita style though. If I'm ever on Rt. 70 traveling cross country again, or just in Columbus, I'd definitely stop in again for a bite and a few rounds in the photobooth.

Fat Tire - Welcome to Ohio! Since its legal arrive in Ohio in December, I'm happy to know this place has it. Plus I love the glasses that Club 185 serves their beer in. This place has a lot of good things in 1 establishment that most German Village and Short North places can't - large variety of alcohol, good food, & free parking. Lunch appears to be slowly growing as they've got 1 of those sidewalk signs saying they serve lunch. My colleagues and I (group of 40) slammed them on a Thursday at 12:40pm without any notice. After recovering from the initial shock and finding us all seats, they took our orders & had all food served within 35-40 min. Chips & Dip - the chips were very crispy and the dipped complemented the chips so well that we wanted more chips to finish the dip. Double hamburger - burger had good flavor and could compete in any burger joint. Fries were good as well. Atmosphere - it's awesome. There is a full length bar, couple tables with barstools, booths, and a 5 seat lounge in the front window. Free parking across the street in the church parking lot. Easy, quick access to I-70.

A very cool neighborhood bar in the German village in Columbus. I was a bit disappointed by my experience here (not a reflection of the establishment), because our group stopped in for food and a drink and couldn't even find a place to sit- someone was having their 50th birthday here (Happy Birthday!) and basically took up all of the tables- so we were only able to get a drink at the bar and actually ended up leaving for another place. However, this place has a cool traditional yet hip vibe, a cool looking menu, and nice staff. There was a diverse crowd when we were there, and I really wished that I could've stayed for longer and tried the food. Hopefully I can stop in again in the future if I'm ever in the city again.

My husband and I live close by and have been meaning to stop into Club 185 for a while. We did this past Friday night. First, this is not a dive bar. Whoever thought this was a dive bar has never been to a dive bar. This is a nice neighborhood bar, a bit on the classy side (as in exposed brick, high stamped tin ceilings, dark wood, candles, long curve-around bar). We loved the atmosphere though it was louder than we expected. Even when sitting right next to each other in a booth against the wall, we had to shout to have a conversation. The place was packed on Friday with nowhere to sit, not even at the bar, but we managed to snag a nice booth when a couple saw us searching and offered their spot as they were leaving. We ordered beer, hard cider (Vandermill; never heard of it before, but liked it), and the Black Bean Jalapeno Dip appetizer. The drinks were large (and cheap!) and the appetizer was tasty. Everything was going well. And then we ordered dinner. Now, I had read the reviews. I knew no one was raving about the food at Club 185. But it's pub food, right? We weren't expecting much and figured we'd have a simple, solid dinner. Well, we didn't expect as little as we got. I ordered the Club 185 burger with cheese and my husband got the Cuban sandwich. I got the mac and cheese side and he got the onion rings. My burger was pitiful. Seriously, might as well just go to McDonald's. The bun was a thin, smooshy white bun - the same cheap buy-em-by-the-pallet kind you expect at family picnics and church barbeques. The "cheese" was an American cheese food single and the burger was tiny. It was a 1/4-lb burger at best, maybe smaller. Even with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles (hold the mayo, please!), I barely felt like I ate anything. The mac and cheese was a substantial brick. It definitely filled me up where the burger had failed, but it was just unimpressive. A rectangular chunk of mac and cheese sliced out of a pan with another cheese food slice on top of it? Not my idea of comfort food. As for my husband, he fared a little better, but not by much. His Cuban sandwich was...strange. A Cubano should generally just be ham, roast pork, cheese, pickles, and mustard. Simple and delicious. If you want to change it up, that's fine, but indicate that on the menu. The weirdest thing about the Club 185 "Cubano" was the flavor. There was some kind of spice or spice mix on it that neither of us could identify. It tasted maybe like Italian seasoning or one of the many spices in Italian seasoning. Basil? Thyme? We're still not sure, but it just wasn't right. As for the onion rings, he said they were just ok. Nothing special though nothing weird. Overall, the food wasn't horrible. But it wasn't very good. And to top it all off, we both had some intestinal worries that night and the next day. Nothing major, but enough to notice. So while we may be going back to Club 185 for the cheap drinks and to try the cocktails, we'll probably be skipping the food. Sigh, too bad. The place has a great vibe.

I went to Club 185 a few years back when a friend was working there as a bartender, it seemed like a great neighborhood place (with a lot of black AMEX doucheyness), but we had a good time and decent food. Recently my friends and I got to a birthday party in German Village early (almost an hour early) and wanted to stop in for one drink at 185 (this was a weeknight). We walked in and saw an open table in the middle of the room, approached it and were just about to sit down when a waitress appears and says "there's someone sitting at that table." We all look at her surprised because nothing was on the table. She then proceeded to say "you see these (pointing to drink napkins on the table)...that's what that means." We all looked at each other somewhat taken a back because, wow...just RUDE. So, we moved over to another table and had a seat. We talked for a few minutes and the same waitress was now COMPLETELY IGNORING us. We looked at each other and said F this and walked out and took our business to Curio where they gladly waited on us. Not sure if we'll go back after the last experience we had, but we may. My hope is that the rude bartender/waitress found a new job or learned how to interact with people.

Great food! Burgers are delicious little morsels of yumminess. Great wine and cocktails! Perfect spot in the village it's like a little home away from home.

I luv this little bar! The bartenders are fun and enjoyable to be around, and the drink selection they have is pretty solid. They surprisingly have a pretty tasty Bloody Mary here (and I'm not a huge Bloody Mary fan). The reason why I gave it a 4* and not a 5* is because I have only been here during non-busy hours (Fri/Sat between 4-7), and have never tried any of the food. I would definitely swing by if you're in or near the area. It has a neat layout and some vintage things lingering around, including an old school photo booth!

A great place to go in GV! We went here on a Thursday night for a night cap and found a table right away. Our server was excellent, offering samples of beer that we were interested in getting and was very personable. Clean, typical GV bar with a fairly large local selection. We will definitely come back when we are in the German Village area!

Cool ambiance, but not a lot of space. Happy hour on a Friday was like being stuffed into a sardine box. The service was fantastic for the amount of people.

The best happy hour in Columbus, hands down. Half price drafts of Bell's two hearted and other fine beers. The staff is amazing and friendly, and the food is some of the best you'll find for the price here in Columbus. Come for the happy hour, stay for the amazing jukebox and photobooth.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 1st-time visit to this joint. Lunch time. I wasn't feeling the fast food route, so used the trusty Yelp app to see what was around. Club 185 caught my eye. It looked like a good fit, after reading a few reviews. Thus decided to go here with my father: He is a sucker for fried bologna, and I for sweet potato fries!! The place was pretty full of customers when we walked in. One table and one both remained open, so we sat ourselves in the booth. The host/waitress was polite, passed a menu, took our drink order, then left and gave us a minute to peruse. My father, of course, ordered the fried bologna sandwich (a half-inch thick piece of the meat, several thick slices of fresh sweet pickle, and mustard to top on a bun). I decided on the chicken salad sandwich (lettuce and tomato on toasted white bread) and a side of their Yelp-recommended sweet potato fries. It took about 10 minutes for our food. The bologna sandwich and were both hot. My chicken salad sandwich was AWESOME: instead of like most restaurants that sell chx salad sandwiches, where they plop a small 1/2 cup scoop of the mix on bread that is twice the size, this sandwich was nothing like the stereotype. A heaping serving of their sandwich mix filled the entire bread, and was at least half an inch thick!! Wonderful :) The white bread was fresh. Slightly toasted, it was chewing - just the way I like it. And the best part of the dish? The basket of hot sweet potato fries. Absolutely no added seasoning (!!) so I was able to taste the true sweet potato. Lightly cooked (oil?) with a "crust", but soft and chewy. I haven't had spf like these since 2005!

Just ate a very generously endowed Club sandwich, and it was fabulous! I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere differences on a weekday vs. weekend. Weekends tend to make the place seem tiny and stuffy from so many people, but on a night like Tuesday it's a chill, laid back place to chat with friends and have some drinks and noms. Service was friendly and prompt

Club 185 has a really tasty burger. Slightly thin patties, on a glistening greasy toasted bun. I got mine with pickles and onion and put on some mustard myself. Perfect diner style burger imo. Service was fast and friendly too. Great place for a quick lunch on a weekday.

Club 185 is mostly cool, but occasionally douchey. The occasional douchiness isn't Club 185's fault, but sometimes this place becomes Hipster Paradise. But when it's not, it's pretty freaking fantastic. The vibe is dark and low-key, and it's really comfortable. The service is good, but not great. They just act a bit nonchalant. Eh, that's okay - they keep my drinks filled. Oh, and don't discount the food - it's always super tasty! Get the bean dip and the pigs in blankets. Trust me. Tip: There's a giant parking lot across the street, so park for free!

  • Stephanie K.

I don't really have that much to say as I only ordered one drink here. The inside is nicer than you'd expect after looking at the exterior. There's a weird little hip corner with mid century furniture. I ordered a gin and tonic and it was fine. Nothing great or bad about it. The service was fine. Ermm nothing else much to say. I'll have to come back for food sometime and update this rating.

Club 185 has maybe the BEST wings in Columbus. My suggestion. Get the second hottest sauce on the wings and the hottest sauce for dipping. Also, get a side of the amber ale battered onion rings. They are insanely good. Great beer selection and the service is pretty decent. Not to mention they were playing some rad tunes as well.

Looks like it'll be a hole in the wall bar... but no, this is a FANCY hole in the wall bar. I didn't get much of a chance to explore the booze, I just ended up ordering a Bells Two Hearted on draft. I did order a burger and fries...it was DELICIOUS. The service is here and there... turns out you half DIY by running to the bar. I love the dim, dungeon-like lighting and the overall ambience. It's a little loud, but I think you could still pull off at least a pre-date drink? A-OK place :)

Came here last night with the boyfriend, as I was craving a burger and the chance to try somewhere different than our usual spots. Parking can be a little iffy in this area, especially in the evening, but we got pretty lucky with a spot a block away. The ambiance is pretty cool here - I love the tin ceiling and exposed brick - and it feels dark and cozy, which is nice after a long day under fluorescent lights. One thing I didn't like was how loud it was, especially when there were still open tables. It was hard to adjust to the noise level and sometimes I felt like I had to scream my conversation. We got drinks (Oktoberfest now on tap!) but were kind of bummed when they came out far too warm to be fully enjoyed. Service was okay. The food was pretty good. We started with the Jalapeno Bean Dip, which was decently seasoned but could have been spicier. They give you a ton of chips, I think we ended up sending half of them back to be tossed. We each got cheeseburgers - regular for me, double for him - and split an order of the fresh-cut fries and coleslaw (to top our burgers with, of course). The burger patties were thin and pretty similar to the burger at Press Grill (owned by the same people as 185). Overall really really good burger if you're not into a huge piece of meat. Fries were kind of soggy, but we got a huge basket for only $2. Our total for 2 drinks, an app, 2 burgers and 2 sides came out to just under $30 - which is awesome. Overall, pleased with the Burger and vibe - 'meh' on everything else.

This "bar" wasn't quite what I had hoped it would be. I guess that's why they call it a club. Moreover, I suppose it got its name because one would have to be clubbed 185 times before they would enjoy going there.

I've been back here a few more times since my first review. The food is still a winner. Fast, tasty and value priced. The service is almost always attentive and prompt, keeping glasses filled and plates cleared. I'm pleased to say that the overly loud music has not been an issue on any subsequent visit, though the place can get noisy with chit-chat when crowded. This place has definitely won a spot on my go-to list.

Can someone PLEASE answer this question for me? WHAT IS THE RECIPE FOR THE DIJON HERB VINAIGRETTE ON THE CLUB 185 SALAD? I'm a foodie. I can make a Dijon vinaigrette in my sleep. This one is more emulsified with tarragon and...some other herbs. If you know the recipe or someone else who does, please hook me up! My review: The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because while I think it's important to stay with tried and true customer favorites, it would be great to have a small, rotating seasonal menu or new chef specials for variety. If you gave one of those menus to each table, people would go for it. Do they really think that we can see or remember to look for the tiny chalkboard by the kitchen? People are lazy, make it easier on us!

  • Brad S.

I love this bar - it's unpretentious, has great food and beer, and a really nice layout and design. They have a great bar menu with the usual suspects, but they're prepared well and perfectly portioned. They keep really nice beers on tap (Two Hearted...), and make pretty decent mixed drinks as well. In the spring and summers, the doors stay open and the place just feels fresh and fun. The staff is friendly, but reserved. It's a mixed crowd here, usually, from older business people, to young hipsters, to yuppies. The bar caters to them all. My only complaints: it's so popular after work that it's hard to get a table, and the constantly loud music. Pro-tip: park at the church across the street. I've never had an issue.

Bahahaha! First of all, when I went to Club 185's Yelp page to start my review, the "People who viewed this also viewed..." section just listed a bunch of strip clubs. Who's been checking out Club 185, eh? Well, they do have very attractive staff. Club 185 is my go-to bar in my neighborhood. Not feeling spiffy enough for Lindey's? Not feeling schlubby enough for Beck Tavern? Come to Club 185! The interior is juuust interesting enough to be hip without being overdone. I recall my first visit: when I first saw Club 185 from the outside, I thought it would be a little more divey than it actually was. There's one raised corner with some mid-century-modern furniture in it. I like sitting in that spot. I feel like a mannequin in a 1960's department store. It's small, and everyone loves it here, so expect peak times to be very crowded. The service problem others have mentioned seems to correlate exactly with how crowded it is-- perhaps they should consider hiring more staff for rush hours? The food is also a bit better than one might expect. For bar food, it has a little more seasoning and flair than your average bar fare, plus rotating specials! I really, really, REALLY like the burger here. It's small, but it's so tasty and I can appreciate a little portion-control. I get one of those puppies with a beer and I'm all set. The crowd is a good mix of people; everyone always looks like they're having a blast. One of the reasons I wanted to move to German Village was for the slightly older crowd. No matter your age, from 21 to 60, you won't feel out of place.

Club 185 does it again. We went in Friday night for a date and I was instantly discourage when we found every table full and no spots at the bar. I figured we'd be leaving in 5 minutes. Well, in two minutes a table opened up and we had an amazing night from there on. The service was super attentive, friendly, and plain awesome! The food was great and cheap, as usual! Love that Ruben! Drinks were great. A good strength on the vodka soda and a nice size lime wedge. Even though the place was completely slammed and a true hipster's paradise, we felt like the only table in there. That's how spot on they were. Kudos 185!

Had a nice club 185 salad - almost a nicoise sans fish. nicely blanched green beans, boiled red potatoes, one hard boiled egg, black olives...dressed in a mostly light but somewhat oily vinaigrette. I added a portobello 'shroom. That was the awesome meter kicker! Nicely grilled with flavor yet still firmish. Next time I'll add cheese.

ok so this place is pretty on the inside and has some nice nostalgic touches like the old phone booth and photo booth, but it is not as cheap as I though by the reviews, but I do realize I am still new to Cbus and therefore it technically is cheaper then most places. We came too early for happy hour and had we been there for happy hour I would have been happier, lol, but their beer is priced higher then the Old Mohawk down the way and I personally will drive the extra little bit to visit them instead and this is why. Mohawk has a much better menu with lots more choices, their 4pm to 7pm happy hour is way better and you can get a Yuengling draught for literally $1.50. Service is better and food is tastier. We did get the Daily Double during this visit which is two cheeseburgers and fries for $8.50. The fries were good and tasty, but the burger was thin patty on a small bun and for a few more bucks and a beer you can head to Thurmans and be in heaven even without a happy hour. So I would go here again, but not till the happy hour and not very often. Oh ya and their beer is $4 and up, sorry, but there are just better places in German Village to go to.

Update - The 99-cent tacos on Monday are pretty good. Not great, but very good for the price. And the meatloaf sandwich is as good as a messy sandwiche gets. Great flavor, meaty and moist meatloaf. Just a super sandwich. Highly recommended

nice neighborhood dive bar. Good crowd.. A bit too loud. On busy days, Friday night and Sat night seems to be understaffed. Forget about trying to be a regular, they have a lot of waiters rotation, I've seen a different waiter everytime I've been there. The only regular is the bar tender. Descent food. Prices OK

Came here on a weeknight and it was packed. It is seat yourself which can be kind of frustrating here. The burgers are classic old fashioned styled. Not the thick burgers you are used to at non fast food restaurants. They are cooked fresh however and are incredibly juicy. Get the double burger. Its less than 5 bucks! A small but competent beer selection add to the draw of this place. The beers are very reasonably priced as well.

Loved it. Went here with a few friends after work last night. Ordered roughly 3 drinks and a steak and egg philly cheese sub (I think that's what it was called) and my tab only came out to be a little over 20. Pours on the wine are large, always a plus ;). The food was AMAZINGGG (like seriously so amazing that I've craving it the next morning). The place was loud but I wasn't expecting it not to be, considering it was a bar and we went around 11. We probably shouldn't have sat so close to the photobooth, lots of excited, screaming girls coming and going (lol). Good food, drinks and I happened to be in great company, I'll definitely be back.

Well, tonight at 185 was a big disappointment. The food was good, but the chunky blonde bartender spilled a drink on my lap and then proceeded to make fun of my drink selection (white wine). I've been a semi-regular customer for years, but this place is really beginning to spin into a downward spiral of negativity. I'd rather head to Old Town East or the Short North where bartenders are generally happy to see customers.

Upon entering the place it seemed nice, and people appeared to be enjoying themselves. This is where the good impression ended. We were ignored by the waitress, who then made an excuse on why we were ignored. (We'd never been there before and after waiting at our table for awhile, we wandered to the bar to ask a if that is where we ordered.) It was not totally the staff's fault, they were severely short handed, but honestly, I don't think our waitress knew a thing about customer service. The food was mediocre to poor. I've made better pizza and fries at home. The soups, I tried two, had no flavor and were watery. When I mentioned I didn't care for the soup, which was supposed to be chili, but was more like a watery, tomato, onion, green pepper stew, she only offered to give me another soup. I was hoping to like this place. :( The only thing I like about this place where the happy hour prices. We will never go back.

Classic bar space, nicely refurbished. Good drink menu, cool atmosphere, and speedy service. I love the old touches like the pressed tin ceiling and the retro photo booth. I'd like to go back soon and try the food. It got crowded, but there's a very long bar with lots of stools available, so belly up to the bar and have a drink.

I can't really explain it, but Club 185 makes me feel really, really swanky. Whether I'm grabbing a quick lunch or a late-night drink, the atmosphere makes me feel way cooler than I actually am. The chips & dip are addicting, and I adore the fried egg sandwich. My friends also highly recommend the veggie melt and Club 185's hot dog special. The servers and bartenders here are excellent. They're patient with my indecisive nature and are always willing to the change the TV station so my friends and I can watch our favorite game.

What on EARTH happened here? Despite enjoying myself every time I've come with my friends after work, I may have eaten the worst salad of mankind last Thursday. Lunchtime and happy hour are night and day, apparently, for I have frequented Club 185 during happy hour with a smile on my face and a twinkle in my eye. My lunchtime salad, however, made my blood simmer. We are all dreadfully familiar with these jokes of salads: the wilted, old romaine leaves (which should have been spinach, by the way); three blueberries; one walnut cut into corners; three goat cheese crumbles; bland chicken strips that tasted like a paper plate; and an overkill of red onion. Absolutely miserly. To the naked eye, this salad sounds divine! A fresh spinach salad, tossed with blueberries, red onion, and goat cheese. Add grilled chicken for $1 extra. Yum! A perfect, simple salad. But no. This salad may have have been crafted by the hands of a mischeivious, vengeful carnivore whose sole purpose was to slit the throat of salad's destiny, thereby ensuring no one eats a salad ever again. I'll just stick with the friendly atmosphere and affordable libations at CLub 185's happy hour. This place has character, if nothing else.

Ahhh 185...you always treat me so well. I specifically came to 185 for lunch today as a result of my disgraceful meal yesterday at the Gahanna Grill. You can read about that experience here... yelp.com/user_details?us… I've had dozens of burgers at 185 over the years and they are they the same every damn time...DELICIOUS!!! I actually feel bad it has taken me this long to advertise my joy for them. It's really not that hard to create America's most popular meal. Fresh ingredients, perfect bun and good beef cooked correctly...thats pretty much it. 185 does is great every time. The other items on their menu are just as scrumptious. Fries are perfectly cut and never over/under cooked. Daily specials are solid, chicken salad is delish, soups are always tasty. If you cannot tell...I'm a big fan on 185. The scene is always good, never pretentious nor trashy, just an overall great vibe. Don't even get me started on the best lamp in cbus...just look behind the bar and you will see her!

This place rocks! The burgers are awesome, the pizza is more like a flat bread but still nice And the Fries are fantastic! The prices can't be beat and the service was stellar! Thanks Chelsea (bartender) you are fantastic! Xoxo. Can't wait to eat my way thru this menu. Has lots of great options like a spinach salad add chicken or salmon, fish tacos and lots lots more! The drinks are yum too! Great bar atmosphere :) Not good for kids people.

This was my first visit to Club 185. I've heard that after dinner time it turns into a shithole that smells like A&F cologne--but, that it has good food. So, some friends and I made a trip over there on Sunday afternoon. It was pretty empty when we got there, so I was optimistic. Unfortunately, it fell short on most everything service-wise. The waitress came over and brings us drinks--then promptly tells us their fryer is down. I'll be honest, I'm not totally sure how a restaurant functions when the fryer is down. I wanted to get a burger originally, but this put that to rest. Couldn't get wings either. So, I went with carnitas tacos. My friends got the lasagna, turkey reuben and Joe's Special. After about 30 minutes we still didn't have our food, despite there being virtually no one else in there. The reason from the waitress was "we didn't even have a cook until an hour ago"...this logic made no sense to me. But, she was nice about it. Eventually, our food showed up. The tacos were the definition of average. Nothing special, not much flavor and not nearly sufficient enough for a meal. My friend's review of the lasagna was that it was very average, nothing special as well. It was a large meal though, so he was at least full I think. Turkey reuben looked good--but (noticing a theme?) not enough for a meal. The review for Joe's Special had to wait--it came out after the rest of us had finished eating. They picked up the tab for this meal, but it was still annoying. For what it's worth--he said it was really good. From a distance it looked like a big mess on a plate. Overall, based on this only experience Club 185 only gets 2 stars. Service was terribly slow, and borderline incomplete. I will certainly try it again, though. I've heard it's much better than this. I hope it is.

Went here for happy hour and had a great time. The atmosphere is unique with a mix of young and old, hipster and professional. Nice fun photo booth in the back to mix things up. The food was very good--I had a double burger with havarti cheese. I love havarti and was surprised they offered it on their burgers, and it was melted perfectly over the rest of the ingredients in the burger. Their fries are great, and the hot wings are awesome--crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and with lots of hot sauce. Will definitely come back to try some of the other things on the menu!

Burgers and beers abundant at this trendy spot in German Village! Do yourself a favor and get an order of the fresh cut fries (regular or sweet potato), they are delicious. If (like myself) you prefer the lighter side of meat...get the turkey sammie, it is pulled high with delicious roasted turkey and topped with mouth watering havarti cheese. SO GOOD. My only regret was the Mac n' cheese; Its a tasteless blob, avoid!

This is my favorite spot in the city! To all reviewers who say the parking sucks, I would like to say that there is an entire lot across the street! The food is great, the drinks are cheap and the bartenders can't be beat. Girl with the long blonde hair is my favorite. She has a great rapport with customers and a great sense of humor. Can't beat the place. Two thumbs up!

Yes, the brussel sprouts and pizzas are the highlight of this place. Order those. The lowlight though? The service. The menu has an eclectic mix that's sure to please anyone in your group, including yourself. And speaking of groups, this place is a pretty great place for a meetup (particularly for the awesome photobooth that gets major props.) But what concerns me is why both times I went in I had crap service. It wasn't that busy and that's what surprised me the most. My server seemed to disappear for at least 10 minutes and didn't even come back to ask me if I wanted a drink after she dropped of my menu. I just kinda sat there for awhile, with a menu and no drink, waiting for her return. It really didn't perk up after that either. My tea was never filled and the only time she came back to my table was to drop off then pick up my check. I'm guessing it's a completely different atmosphere at night for dinner and drinks so I'm thinkin' it's a good idea to get back in soon and give them another go... If only for the photobooth.

Came here on a whim - a friend's desire to hit up a new place for happy hour every Wednesday. I can't say I didn't enjoy the choice! The burger was delicious, the staff was great - my beer was full all night long, and she had us waters the second we called her over. It's a great atmosphere, with good food and great beers on tap, with an interesting mix of a crowd. I'd definitely come back here again.

This was our first impression of the place- some of the people in our party had been there before, but for most of us this is our first (and last) experience. I had higher hopes for this place; but like most places in German Village, please don't expect too much. The service was fine... I've had better at White Castle, 1AM, with drunk friends screaming at the lady behind the window. We had a large party, a table of eight this past weekend and three of us were screwed out of: 1) not receiving a drink, 2) being forced to pay for other friend's drinks (the server didn't pay enough attention and our friend left after paying his portion of the bill- we noticed a drink that none of us had and when we brought it up to her, she smiled, raised her eyebrows, shrugged her shoulder and said it was out of her control) or 3) being overcharged on a credit card by $50+ and not being able to take care of that charge until mid-week. Sorry, honey, that's not a good first impression on ANY of us. $50 isn't the end of the world, but it's a big enough chunk of change to make a stink about it- we're college kids who tip well and have all worked in the service industry, don't waste our time with pathetic excuses like "Someone will get back to you about that." or "it's out of my control." Please, you pay for a drink when you fail to do your job as a server. We've all been there. I usually would give this place a second shot, especially since I hear they have a killer food menu, but I think three strikes in one night is enough for now.

This reminds me of my current favorite bar except with better music, an eclectic crowd, cleaner restrooms, and I'm presuming better food. In fact, its probably not my current favorite bar yet because I can't walk to it from my apartment! I thoroughly enjoyed this German Village gem. At first, I thought, "this place is so small!" But then realized that's the charm of it. The decor is old fashioned and I love it that way. And with the jukebox playing constant favorites, I could imagine never leaving this place. You will probably have to carry me out next time. The crowd is a mixture. Since it was around 9PM on a Friday night, there were plenty of downtowners just off work, still in suits sans jacket and tie, and the typical mid 20's-30's. Some were rowdy, some were trying to have a couples night out, but all in all, the atmosphere and energy of the place was great. Definitely better than the drunk and dumb college crowd I'm used to. The only disappointment is that there are only around 4 beers on draft. But hey, it won't stop me from coming back to try the food next time!

Excellent spot for lunch. Club 185 has great lunch specials for a great price. It's hard to beat the tacos for a dollar or the 2 Nathan's hotdogs for $4 on Thursday! The extra that always seals the deal are the sweet potato fries with delicious dipping sauce. Take my word for it, these can't be missed! The service is quick and efficient. The vibe of Club 185 is relaxed. Not to be missed if you are in German Village!

THIRD BEST BURGER! These are the greasy, messy, artery clogging burgers. The Charles burger comes with a fried egg - why not - to hell with your cholesterol. Second favorite is the thick cut bologna sandwich - although I would switch mayonnaise for their recommended mustard - if you're going to get one stint might as well get two or three. Also worth a try is their kettle chips.

It doesn't seem to matter how infrequently I come in, the barmaid always remembers what I want and how I want it cooked. Today, along with my roast beef on weck, I also had a bowl of their chili. This was made with real chunks of beef and tomatoes and peppers. Moderately spicy, but not bad. Truely a great place to dine.

Odd I give one of my fave Cbus watering holes only 3-stars, the decor I've always loved the modern remake of an old German Village classic that turned this from old man after work crap-hole bar into a trendy, somewhat typical, but more cool tha most German Village spots. Food is very good, not bar food but 3 to 4 star restaurant quality that is rare to find in a bar, great sandwiches, especially the meatloaf. Hate the pretentiousness of servers - has been bad for 8 years but at a low point now with staff seemingly only worried about how cool they think they are, completely annoying!! Cbus has posibly best all around service of any city I've ever visited so service a bug let down, excellent crowd and very good food. Crowd is typical for neighborhood of German Village trendy with many nice looking 21-40 year old ladies. Best on Thursday when you can actually get service and there's still a customer base.

club 185's homepage features an inebriated blonde, slung over some dude's shoulder, throwing up the sign of the horns and generally having a good ole time. in retrospect, this should have indicated to me that 185 is known more for their good times than the "good food" the website promises, but life is about taking chances, so i gave them a whirl. and while i bet the nighttime scene is bumping here, i wouldn't go back for lunch. 185 has some standard bar fare that would be great with cocktails; like their kettle chips with house-made onion dip, which was totally yummy. but i also needed something more filling, and asked the server if she preferred the cream of mushroom (soup of the day) or the chili. i definitely should've gone with the chili - it's bar food, and hard to screw up too badly. however, the mushroom soup she recommended, was screwed up pretty badly. it tasted like a bowl of cooked mushrooms floating in heavy cream with no seasoning whatsoever. it was bland, flavorless, and in desperate need of salt. chives were certainly out of the question. i took three bites and was over it. guess i should've tried the beef on weck! 2 stars for the onion dip and the notion that they're a good bar.

For sure don't judge this place by the sign. It's pretty nice inside and they have some pretty good stuff. I came for the lasagna on a Sunday on the recommendation of a dude I met at Dick's Den. They mix a good drink too and the staff is friendly and nice but not too talkative. The lasagna looks decent sized, but not ridiculously huge. It's very filling though, so plan on taking half home. It tasted pretty good the first time and left over as well. Overall my experience was positive except the brief outburst of cussing coming from the kitchen, and I could see myself coming back with a friend, but it didn't offer anything compellingly different enough to make me look forward to my next visit.

Good bar food, really good bar food. Healthy? No. Tasty? Yes. Affordable? Yes. But the place is loud, I mean really loud on the weekends. Service? Well the girls are attractive but they suck at waitressing. Hired for their babeness I guess. So go when they're not busy or get takeout, unless you don't mind waiting and want to drink. Shame really, because I really do like the food.

Fun neighborhood bar. Strong drinks. Cheap happy hour. Bean dip is amazing. After work crowd is generally downtown workers of all ages but then transitions into a upper 20's/30's crowd as the night progresses. Only complaint is it gets loud! Hard to talk as the night goes on. Parking is available in the church parking lot across the street.

I love 185 for lunch, dinner, happy hour, late night drinks and everything in-between! It is the perfect neighborhood bar in my opinion. The atmosphere is great... There is nothing flashy or pretentious...Plenty of seats in the small space, high tops, low tops, booths, plenty of bar stools and even a little sitting area in the corner by the window. There is a jukebox, but, most of the time the bartenders just rock their ipods.... Although, I have actually asked them to turn the music down a few times... I think this is a sign I am just getting old. Sometimes on the weekends it can get a little crowded and average age definitely dips, but, for the most part it is a great place! Some highlights: $.99 Taco's on Monday nights, The 185 Burger, The Club 185 Salad, Sunday Night Lasagna Dinner, Quesadilla's, Mac and Cheese, PHOTO BOOTH and plenty of parking across the street. They also have some pretty tasty soups! Drinks are reasonably priced and happy hour is from 4-7pm. They serve food until 1am - dine in or take out!

  • Mike B.

Full of the average german village crowd of older empty nesters or 30 something hipsters, you might feel out of place in jeans and a tshirt. The barstaff is attentive and friendly. The food comes quick, the simple menu is well rounded. Prices on food are good, but prices from the bar are a little steep ($4.50 for a draft, $7 for a martini). If you're looking for the perfect blend of food and a full bar in the village, try the olde mohawk instead. But if you're looking for a quick stop for a bite and a brew, club 185 is there. PROS - above average bar food, good bar staff, nice interior decor, german village atmosphere. CONS - good luck parking anywhere, cost of drinks are high, crowd can be hit or miss.

A nice spot off of a mundane street - I came to this place on a Wednesday night, and it was hopping - which is a good sign. The atmosphere is great, the decor is nice and it seating and bar are quite aesthetically pleasing. Service was a bit slow, but understandable due to the crowd. The food is cheap. And by cheap I mean inexpensive, not low quality. The double burger is a great deal and tasty, but nothing to write home about as far as burgers and flavors go - but hey, for bar food, its good. I don't drink, so I can't rate the alcohol, but know that the selection is broad and the staff is friendly (when available). Service was quick and the fries were good.

Club 185 is a frequent destination for the after-work downtown crowd. Therefore, you'll likely find many politicos and businesspeople hanging out here between the hours of 5-10 on weekdays! There are also often events held here by lobbyists, politicians and businesspeople that may draw big crowds, and, if you are not a part of the event, could be bothersome. I have been invited to many of those fundraising and schmoozing events and therefore had a great time! It is important to note that I have also been there on my own accord with friends and enjoyed myself just as well. The bartenders here are friendly & attentive and make their vodka sodas very strong...this is good...and dangerous! They have a nice selection of beer and their bar is accessible and laid out well. The food here is just as pleasing: hamburgers and pizza are above par and I definitely recommend the homemade potato chips with their special secret scrumptious dipping sauce (someone please tell me what that is concocted of...it's so good)! Come here with a couple drinks and snacks with friends while in German Village and you'll be sure to have a great time. This is moreso a laid back bar rather than a stuck up "club" (and certainly not a dance club of any sort). The interior is exposed brick and there is also a PHOTO BOOTH (like the ones at the mall you took pics in with your friends when you were 13). Relive those moments of tween-hood (only tipsy this time) by hopping in the booth and getting a strip of photos to remember your visit to Club 185 by! PS: Ample parking across the street in a church parking lot. Do it.

Club 185 is a great gathering place in German village. It's one of my favorite places for happy hour. Club 185 is located on Livingston Ave, across from a church (where ironically enough you can park.) The inside is rather contemporary and very roomy, whether you sit at the bar or one of numerous tables. There is a nice large window looking towards downtown, which is where I like to sit. The clientele is perfect for my age, mostly 30 somethings. Club 185 has a large selection of domestic and imported beers, including some good micro-brews. They also have several speciality drinks including some of the best Mojito's and Martinis around. They have a great menu including sandwiches, pizzas, and several great appetizer dishes (I like the nachos myself.) Prices are decent, especially if you hit happy hour. It usually gets pretty busy around lunch time, so be prepared to wait. All in all, Club 185 is a great after work stop. There is plenty of room, courteous staff, and a great atmosphere.

I gotta give them a BIG FAIL on this one. It may be the worst bar experience I've had. I was there with a co-worker on November 7th. The food was pretty good, but the service was terrible. We were ignored. We decided to pay and go somewhere else. When I complained to the male bartender, he said I was "parading him", which he explained meant talking down to him, and he told me he would punch me if he wasn't working. On my way out, he shadowed me, called me "tough guy" and implored me to punch him. So, we won't be in a big rush to go back there and I will encourage my friends and colleagues to stay away.

I work next door, so Club 185 is one of my favorite lunch spots. It's pretty cheap - I usually get a fried egg sammich, which is under $4 - and the food itself is pretty good. Nothing to get too excited about in either variety or quality, but good. I've only been here later in the evening for drinks twice, and was amazed to see it a completely different atmosphere than what I'm used to during the day - crowded, for one, and a much younger crowd at that. Parking is easy (and free), which is always incentive to patron this place - just across the street in the church lot (you're really allowed to park there, don't worry.) It's definitely not a "club," it's just a regular ol' bar. I have no idea where the "club" came from - though they do have a yummy club sammich? :)

Le Club. The perfect neighborhood bar. I actually spent Thanksgiving at Club 185, which is kind of depressing when you think about it... but at least we got the happy hour specials. Cheap drinks, decent beer selection and excellent food. Great service. Dark, small and sometimes really loud. Exactly how I'd do it if I opened up a bar myself.

Club 185 is such an awesome place to grab a drink or have a meal. I think the atmosphere is really versatile. I could see people going there for first dates, late night drinks, or business lunches. For me, it's a sweet neighborhood bar within walking distance where the service is always great.

Ive been there many time, Ive enjoys the atmosphere and the beer selection. The place is small, but still fits the area quite nicely. Its a Younger crowd that is pretty consistent. The staff is friendly but at times it can be hard to get a beer. So i would say service is hit or miss. I will continue to frequent this bar.

Bar service was non existent and what service we did get was to take my half filled drink from my table before I was finished. Employees were more interested in being patrons than serving patrons. I witnessed the bartender/waitress walk outside to smoke at least a half dozen times. The bar itself is nothing special but has a lot of potential with the right management and staff.

On a recent return trip to Club 185 I remembered how much I loved this place; all the exposed brick, the beautiful wood bar, the lighting. They always have a nice selection of beer, both on tap and in bottles. They have a photo booth! AND, they serve food till 1 am every single night of the week. Now that I have rediscovered this place I don't think I will be forgetting it again!

great: sweet potato fries The food prices were very reasonable Good: Atmosphere Bar Service Not so good: Size Red's Chili (the flavor and quality has gone downhill since last year) Bad: Noise (can't hear unless you scream at each other) Other foods: Boyfriend had the reuben, which ended up being okay. The meat was kind of dry. Burgers are pretty good Fries were not spectacular, but I loved their sweet potato fries Grilled cheese was.... different. They didn't use American but instead some sort of cheese that had herbs and dill in it. All in all, the 15 minute drive isn't really worth it for me, but I can see how people in the area are attracted to that place.

This is one of my favorite places!!!! Finding parking is not bad if you know you can just park across the street at the church. I love the atmosphere, and the diverse mix of people. Club 185 has above average bar food and strong drinks. My boyfriend and I don't go there without ordering the Black Bean dip (SO good), and also recommend the white pizza, the daily double (two regular sized cheeseburgers worthy of sharing) and the bologna sandwich; the french fries are great. I've also had the Ruben sandwich, which is really good. Great place to go for a drink! It gets busy for happy hour on nice days, so get there early if you want a table!

This used to be my most-visited bar when I lived in German Village. It's still one of my favorite places to have a drink in Columbus. First off, it's not a club. It's a bar. It's small, but if you manage to get a table, you'll love it. People are laid back. Service is great. Atmosphere is great. Food's great. Drinks are great. I still go there even though I'm surrounded by bars I can walk to in the Short North. It's a place where you wear a blazer, but still drop a buck in a jukebox.

this is probably my favorite bar in columbus. Very laid back, great atmosphere. It's also just a few blocks from me. Not the best selection of beers on tap, but they do have stella, an IPA, and a few other good ones. I usually come here on a friday or saturday night. It's usually a great crowd. You won't find any sorority girls here...which is awesome. the good rotation of music caters is a plus. If you are looking for different scene than the arena district (which does not appeal to me), check this place out. they also just got a photo booth in the back. very cool. as far as food--the beef on weck is delicous. i think its on thursdays.

Alright on a late night Stumbled into Club 185 on a late night looking for something tasty to eat. The hardest part was settling on what to have since the menu had many items I enjoy. I could not resist the meatloaf sandwich though so decided on that. I have had this dish at a few places in town, some better than others, so was interested in how theirs stacked up against the competition. It did not stand out. It was not bad, but was not memorable either. It just did not do it for me. I guess that is the best way to put it. Maybe I will try again to see if I was just having a bad night, but at this point just middle of the road.
