As a Southern California native, this is as good as it gets in Columbus! So glad we came here and will definitely be back!

I chose this restaurant because it had the best rating of all the Mexican restaurants in the closest vicinity. I am glad I did. The ambiance is uplifting and bright. The food was fresh, well seasoned, tasty and ample. They bring out chips, salsa and a bean dip with Cole slaw on top - don't knock it until you try it. I ordered those Chorizo Con Huevos. I am reminded of eating at a Mexican restaurants in Houstin, Texas. I am stuffed. I should have quit eating halfway through but it was so good! I really wanted dessert but there was just no room. Let me warn you. When you first pull up you are going to be a little hesitant but gi to the back and park you will see lots of cars!

Wow how things changed for me about this place. Since I was going to have nothing but a clear liquid diet all day Sunday I decided to go to one of my faves. Wow I'm still in shock from the awful experience. This was the worst service I've had in a looooonnngg time anywhere. Where oh where has the service gone from this place? We sit down we get menus, chips, and water promptly and that's where the good part ends. We wait and wait for our server to come take our order. She finally shows up we don't even know her name but we order our drinks which are ice tea for me and beer for hubby. Then we wait again to order. My son orders chicken taquitos with rice and beans. My hubby and I get the fajita trio which is chicken steak and shrimp and we are splitting it. The chips and salsa and the beans with cole slaw are their usual yumminess. Thank goodness we had those as it took forever to get our food. When she brought our food my son asked where were his rice and beans she says they don't come with taquitos he says I know but ordered them in the side ugh! We ask her to bring us plates as we have nothing to put our food on. We wait and wait I go track her down and again ask for my sons sides and plates. Ughhhhh she still doesn't show up so my hubby sees her and AGAIN asks for those items and she acts annoyed WTF. So at this point I'm beyond mad and I'm sad because I loved this place but not anymore over it I will not be back.

I enjoy Mexican food, and finding new and flavorful dishes to try is a treat. I've been to Casa Hacienda a couple of times to break up the tacos/burritos/tortas routine (I'm a food-truck gal when it comes to latino food). It's a ringing endorsement to be surrounded by Spanish-speaking customers. The menu at Casa Hacienda is extensive. Of course, there are the standard tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc. - but they also delve into more deeply-flavored chipotle, mole, Villarta, Veracruz sauces and more. The menu is something like 10 color pages. We ordered shrimp fajitas with corn tortillas, and chicken mole with flour tortillas. They do make their own corn tortillas and they are crazy thin and crazy good, complimenting flavors without overpowering them. The fajita mix had carrot mixed in. The chicken mole was wonderful, quite spicy with just a hint of sweet before the burn set in. We ate until we couldn't move. The restaurant is large and bustling most evenings. They do have a full bar, but no drinks menu. The servers are quick, friendly and happy to answer questions as well as pretend your Spanish is good. All around good experiences here.

Great Mexican food. Salsa had a good spice level. My girlfriend had the Chipotle Burrito and "gained 11 lbs". I had the Macho Burrito and it was delicioso. Love the atmosphere too. We'll be back for sure.

I have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant and went here solely based on the 4.5 star review it has. It is def over rated I was not impressed at all but I don't know if I am being biased because I was spoiled back home in Mansfield, oh to great Mexican food restaurant. the tortilla were so thin that the seemed soggy everything seemed overly salty. I just had really high hopes and was let down. On top of the food not being good the service wasn't that great. My one year old daughter vomited all over her just brought out food and the waitress acted as if nothing happened. I had to ask her for napkins and towels to clean it up (i understand her not wanting to get any on her or get any germs) but come on at least offer me napkins and towels to clean it up. She didn't ask if she was ok nothing.

Homemade tortillas, amazing asada, plentiful chicken tacos, and an ambiance that is family friendly. Our servers were attentive and the service was quick. The bean and coleslaw dip and fresh chips were a great indication that we would be enjoying this meal. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Columbus. We will be regulars.

Revisting this review after going back for another lunch experience. It was a different experience this time in many ways. They took the lunch specials off their menu and I'm not sure why. That was disappointment number one. It was a Wednesday afternoon and I went with a large group of coworkers (10). I understand that this can be an issue for restaurants, and there were also several other groups there, but the staff should continue to remain professional and do their best. Our server took forever to come around and just get our orders. The food came out ina timely manner and was the same quality as mentioned before...just a little more expensive. The server also took forever collecting out checks and getting the cards and receipts back for us to sign. The smaller group I rode over with stayed a little later than the rest because we were taking longer to eat. We let the server have some time to recover and clear the other plates before giving her our checks. We decided it was time to give her our cards and she took fifteen minutes to get back to us. Overall, it's disappointing to see the lunch specials gone. It's also disappointing that the staff were unable to handle big groups of people...even when they have huge tables for that very reason.

Wow, pretty incredible. It all starts with the beautiful architecture and style of this building. It's really feels a bit out if place for the area as well. I got a jumbo top shelf marg - it was not cheap ($15), but it was sooo worth it. One of the best margs I've ever had (and they did NOT skimp on the tequila). We had the queso fundido with chorizo, something we get at all Mexican restaurants. It was so delicious and not just a heavy cheese sauce. It was cooked on a fajita platter and it tasted so fresh. All the tortillas are made in house and are really thin. This is probably what impressed me the most. Best tortillas I've had. They went well with my molcajete. Almost like a Mexican stew - and phenomenal. This place has now made my list of musts when I am in Columbus. I am actually disappointed I didn't not try it sooner.

Still 5 stars! Homemade tortillas, margas, fajitas, the service. More than 5 stars if I could!

Got diner here on a Friday night and the place was packed! The food is really good and they have everything! The menu is huge and you can find any Mexican food you want here. The service was great, very friendly and fast. Constant refills and out waitress checked up on us frequently. I had the taco salad which was just so so and not that great but everyone else I was with raved about their food and it looked a lot better, so maybe pass on the taco salad. The place is pretty big and the ambience is great! I would definitely recommend this place.

Random thoughts as I'm in here drinking my Cadillac margarita... The restrooms are super cool, like out of a 70's drug cartel movie. Everyone is super nice. Still can't believe they give you all this free shit when you sit down. 35 mins later... Just took a pitcher to the face! Feelin awesome.

The food here is lovely and the portions are huge. The bean dip served with chips before the meal is quite good. The service has been hit or miss--not that the servers haven't been good, it just feels like the 3 times I've been there, maybe they're understaffed or something. The last time I was there was the worst, though I suspect that had more to do with the group of 15 or so people who had clearly come from a conference or something and didn't have a reservation and of course just HAD to sit together, forcing staff to drop what they were doing to pull tables together (not cool, conference people, not cool). I recommend the vegetable quesadilla, which is chock full of veggies and not overly-cheesy. I've taken three different friends there on three separate occasions, and they've all liked it as well. Oh, and beer. Beer is there and it is pretty cheap.

This is a pretty good Mexican restaurant, but not the best that I've been to. I got the fajitas and they were pretty good, but their tortillas are very thin. They were different from any other tortillas I've ever had at other Mexican restaurants. I wasn't the only one who was not a fan of them. So this is an alright place for some Mexican food, but I'm sure better options are available.

It's all about the food and the food is incredibly deilcioso. We sadly missed La Hacienda when it closed and only recently found it's replacement, Casa Hacienda Grill. Casa Hacienda Grill has an extensive menu and excellent food. For starters, we loved the bean dip w/ slaw served with the complimentary chips. The chips were good too. I ordered a Burrito Relleno wo/the Spanish sauce. It was much larger than I expected. It was different but delicious. The relleno was an omelet-style, egg-wrapped mild green pepper and tucked neatly inside of the rice and bean burrito. I am a fan of fried chili rellenos but this was an interesting style that I've not had before. I am looking forward to trying the Mole Enchiladas and a Margarita on our next visit and my next review.

By far the best Mexican food i've had in ohio. I'm from Connecticut and there's some killer Mexican food out there. So for the last seven years i've been disappointed in every place since moving out here. I've been here twice and it was excellent both times. Great service. Extremely fresh and bold flavors. It has a homemade/handmade feel that other places don't have. You get a ton of food for a great price. The decorations are beautiful. Not a thing i would change or tell them to do better :) we drive 30 mins to get there because there's nothing that can compare!

Great food but they do not honor the coupons that can be purchased (Groupon, restaurant.com ) from other sites as stated. They create exclusionary rules that you don't figure out until you get to the restaurant and see their paper sign posted. For example, the Groupon is only good for Monday-Thursday, which was not stated in the Groupon fine print. Disappointing.

Increíble recosimos sabrosos!!! First being of Mexican decent it is always very difficult to eat Mexican food outside of our home. Second being from California we have some incredible authentic homemade food. So with that being said our experience was 100+% Off the chart with the quality of the food, the flavor is so good and so close to homemade favorites. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and gracious. Typical Mexican hospitality. Mi Casa Es Su Casa atmosphere. The servers are pleasant and food wait time is timely. Your food is plated neatly and arrives Hot. The presentation of the food is perfect, hot and generous portions. I cannot say enough about the food, service and establishment. It's decor is typical Hacienda interior designing like you would find in Mexico. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great Mexican food meal. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to share my experience with my restaurant in California. Bien provecho!!! Muchas Gracias Casa Hacienda. Bien echo

This place has some pretty outstanding Mexican and Tex Mex food, here is what sets them above the rest -Homemade flour and corn tortillas, they are light and perfectly soft. -Refried beans and slaw with your chips. Such a refreshing addition to the plain old salsa and chips. The salsa is not bad either -Huge portions, though I normally finish my meal because the food is that good. -Extensive drink and food menu. This place has so many food and drink options, everyone is bound to find something they want. Decisions, decisions, decisions! -Check out the tile work, great colorful atmosphere. Don't miss the tile work in the bathrooms too!

My mom and I are Mexican food addicts! We are always looking for our next favorite spot. And we're pretty picky. Found this place on yelp and saw all of the good reviews, so we went to see what all of the hype was about. Uuummm.... yes... we LOVED their food. The chicken is suuuuch good quality. .got the sampler appetizer. very yummy. Guacamole is the best ive had. Rice is the best ive had. Honestly, there wasn't one thing that wasn't fabulous. We loved that they used shredded cheddar on their nachos. So good!!!!!!!! Can't wait to go back.

Come here for the best flour tortillas in Columbus. Homemade and absolutely amazing. They get a fourth star for the tortillas. I have been here a couple times. Most recently, I tried the mole enchiladas, which were a good pick. The cinnamon in the mole gave the dish an almost breakfasty quality, which was nice, and the accompanying rice and refried beans did their job well. I'm not sure what it is about the interior of this place, but it seems rather sad and cold. Perhaps it is a lighting issue, because the tile and paintings and wood benches should feel warmer. I also have a beef with the cocktail menu: it has no prices. There is a pretty strong price-quality relationship with tequila, in my experience, and it is hard to pick a winner off their menu. But the staff is friendly, the food is decent, and the tortillas are crazy good. Crazy good.

Pretty much awesome! It starts off meeting the super cute host, an older gentleman who has a great mix of english and spanish and is super gracious. It's clean and has that fun Mexican restaurant feel with outdoor style decor. Chips and salsa and beans as well as waters arrived first. Great super thin, crisp, hot chips with either a so-so salsa (definitely good enough) and yummy beans and slaw. Both work well. Our server was prompt, sweet, personable, and helpful. Overall, great. We were there for lunch and they have a lunch menu with smaller (still huge) portions and smaller prices. Upon receiving the check, I told them thy should charge more! Most everything was $6-8! I got the carnitas and they were delicious and came with amazing homemade tortillas. All of the entrees come with the fresh tortillas so, I would suggest ordering an entree. Brian O. got the chimi and really enjoyed it. Cleaned his plate actually. From the time we sat down to the time we got our check was 30 minutes. So if you're in a rush it's perfect, but you can be as leisurely as you like. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back and try 10 other things I saw on the menu that sounded good!

This place had better flour tortillas than the ones my friend hoarded in Porto Nuevo. (Troy, you know who you are!) They are paper thin and delicious. I'd love to meet the woman that makes these so I can learn! We were just driving through on our way to Indy and found this on yelp. So glad we did. The building, the music and the food took me back to vacations in Mexico and my Nana's kitchen. Seriously, how can a place this authentic be in Ohio? We got chile verde, mole and a simple combo plate. I can't wait to drive 3.5 hours to come back!

Having grown up on homemade Mexican food from Toledo, I have struggled to find good Mexican food. This is just like the food I grew up with. Amazing! One of the best places in town.

My husband and I LOVE this place!! We drive from the Hilliard area to eat at Casa Hacienda at least once a week. They bring a place of refried beans with a sweet slaw to the table with the chips and salsa, which is awesome because most salsa is too spicy for me. Their Carne Asada is hands down the best I've ever had. The service is always fast and friendly. We firmly believe it is the best Mexican food in Columbus.

Love this place. the craftsmanship is awesome. plenty of sunlight. food is great. you will be happy and satisfied with anything you order. the menu has way to many choices so you will get confused. but just choose one and come back again and choose another..

FINALLY I have found my go to Mexican in Columbus! It was a long and hard journey and I was really about to give up but after hearing so many good reviews about the Casa and being in the area we gave it a whirl! I am a lover of refried beans and LOVE how they bring you a plate of them with slaw and salsa for starters! I have to admit I ate 4 plates of of the beans and a ton of the salsa before we left but it was that good! Everyone agreed this is the freshest and tastiest salsa we have ever had, as well as the beans, no cans or lard here! I got the fajita taco salad which was very good and my husband and son the combo platter which for once was really worth it! They got a chimichanga, chalupa (needless to say blows taco bells away) and burrito, each were big, and very very good, my husband had it with steak and my son with chicken, both were very tasty. Their spanish rice is also among the best, no dry, flavorless heatlamp grains here, it was fresh and yummy! The prices are fair and they have an awesome dessert menu (fried ice cream, churros, fried apple burrito, I want it all!) but we were too full and will have to be back! Service is very friendly and fast and the decor is elaborite and clean, nice place for the family and a great meal!

Many more visits to Casa Hacienda have warranted another star! This is my go-to since it's conveniently located for me and I've liked everything I've ordered. It helps that the kids love it too, so it's an option when we don't feel like cooking for all four of us. The shrimp enchiladas have become my favorite dish here. Didn't like the tortilla soup, but there are enough other things I love to even things out! Service has also been excellent every time, whether they're busy or not.

I've only eaten here one time after a suggestion from a friend but it was by far the best Mexican restaurant I've eaten at. They are quite busy so we did wait a little while, about 10-15 minutes for a table on a Saturday evening. I got the shrimp fajitas and they were amazing, especially the actual flour wraps, which tasted the best I've ever tasted, I think they were homemade or something. My girlfriend loved her dinner as well. The beans and rice were delicious. We've been El Vaquero regulars for years but I think this will be our new go to place when we decide we want the best in Mexican food here locally.

Found myself in this area of Columbus while running some errands on a Saturday. Bf loves Mexican, and we're always looking for new spots to try. Casa Hacienda is highly recommended on Yelp (4 1/2 stars!), so we had to try it. The outside looks a bit creepy. I don't know if it's the location, the decorative bars on the windows or what. Once we walked in I felt MUCH better. The decor is over the top kitsch, but fun for a place like this. One thing I did notice was how clean it was. The place seems huge and there was no dust on the (fake) plants or visible grease in the kitchen, floors were swept, bathrooms were spotless. Our server, Roberto, was friendly and on top of it. Kept our glasses full without being buggy, which is sometimes rare for restaurants like this. Much appreciated! I ordered the Burrito Carnitas ($11.50), which oddly did not come with carnitas, but your choice of chicken, steak or pork. I went with the chicken and it was pretty delish. The flour tortilla burrito had grilled onions and peppers and sides of Rice, Refried Beans, Sour Cream and some surprisingly good Guacamole. The only thing I was meh about was the cheese on my burrito. I had hoped for melty white queso sauce and got melted shredded cheddar instead. Still, really good. Bf had an order fail. He got something with rice, chicken and mushrooms in a red sauce ($10.50). Oddly, there was a lot of celery in his dish which really overpowered it and made the whole thing taste a little off. He was definitely a fan of my burrito though... One kind of nice thing about Casa Hacienda is that they give you a little plate of beans and slaw to accompany their spicy salsa and chips. It was nice having a little variety to start the meal, though I did feel like the slaw was a little bland. I don't think we'll ever go out of our way to visit Casa Hacienda again, but if we're in the area I think we'd give it a second try (and both order the Burrito Carnitas!).

I have to say this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbus. The menu is extensive, the food is delicious, and the staff is wonderful....so what else could you possibly want? Well, the atmosphere is gorgeous. The murals on the wall are beautiful, as are the tables themselves. The portions are enormous and you definitely get not only what you pay but more. It was hard to mark the price as they do have some very inexpensive al a carte items to being a bit higher, but I would say it tops out at my $20-most items are between $8-$15 and that includes sides. For a long time I didn't think they were getting much business, but the parking is deceptive in that many park in the back and you would never know when driving down 161 as the side lots you can't see much as there aren't as many spot. I highly suggest this place as it truly is a great experience!

This place was great as the ratings say. Service was little less than perfect tonight, but hey it was cinco de mayo. I'll give them some slack. Margaritas were great. I got the peach and it was delicious. Ordered queso dip and chips. Yum! Finally found a place that makes a great Tacos al carbon. Had it with both chicken and steak. Rice was good along with the guacamole. Will be returning for sure.

I ordered the veggie burrito with black beans and without cheese of course. The burrito was huge, I didn't even know where to begin. I regret not asking them to not put zucchini in there. I dislike zucchini and it did not go well in the burrito. My biggest issue with the burrito was it was very salty. I mean it was like the cook accidentally put too much salt and he didn't realize it because he didn't taste his own damn food! Chef Gordon Ramsey would have been livid. The drink, I forgot the name (something tropical though) was good but they didn't put enough tequila. I had a buzz for like literally 10 seconds. I'm a light drinker so you can just imagine. My cousin said her food was way too salty too. I forgot what she ordered but she was not happy at all. We left highly disappointed. It was a huge waste of money--no doggie bags for us. Oh, not that it matters much but they serve free tortilla chips with dip.

  • Aaron S.

Some of the better Mexican food I've had. I got the steak fajitas, they had lots of meat and the flour tortillas were fresh and soft. Could a used a bit more guac, but that's normal. As mentioned by others, the decor is awesome, with extensively tiled arches that divide up the seating areas. I do not speak Spanish but a couple of my companions do. They enjoyed practicing with the waitress; from my experience it is common elsewhere that waitresses are not so encouraging. Will definitely have to return (and oh, it is right by the climbing gym)!

We visited Casa Hacienda because of the reviews. The tile work is beautiful and the food is excellent. We especially enjoyed the beans and slaw that was served with the chips and salsa. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My warning to you: If you have a food allergy - you need to be SPECIFIC when you order. I carefully read the menu before ordering a veggie dish and specifically ordered "no broccoli". I'm sure they were being nice, but the kitchen added cauliflower as a substitute. I'm a little different, I'm sensitive to Vitamin K found in both broccoli and cauliflower. I could not eat the meal. I was impressed by the cleanliness. The bathroom was spotless! I firmly believe that a restaurant who ignores the bathroom also ignores the kitchen. I will definitely return but be more specific when I order. The entrance is on the I71 side of the building. I parked on the wrong side and had to walk around the building at night. Yikes!

The service was fantastic, but the food was not. We had a party of 20 & only 1 server, but he was very patient & attentive which is usually unheard of in Mexican restaurants. My hubby & I were really looking forward to the homemade tortillas so he ordered the pollo chipotle & I had the pollo a la diabla. Both dishes were not good at all & the flour tortillas were so thin they were practically translucent. All the sauce leaked through the tortillas & made it a huge mess to eat. The nachos & Mexican pizza that 2 people in our party ordered looked good, but I'm not sure I would be desperate enough to try this again voluntarily.

(January, 2012) I came to Columbus to visit a friend of mine, and I was looking for local restaurants that looked good to eat at, after looking at reviews, we decided to try it. I would first like to say that it's kind of tough to get into the parking lot if you're traveling east because there is no turn lane, so you have to go down to the next light. The tile work in this place is magnificent, and the atmosphere is like nothing I have seen before. The staff was very friendly, addressing us as "amigos" and gave us smiles all night long. Service wasn't the best, but was enough for what we needed. The complimentary chips and salsa also come with a side of their refried beans, which I hadn't seen anywhere before and I thought was a nice touch. I got the chicken fajitas and my friend got the fajita salad with steak. Both meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection, all of the food was terrific and I was stuffed by the end of it. ¡Kudos to Casa Hacienda! 5 stars

Some of the best Mexican I've had. Everything was very fresh. Portions were enough for 2 meals. Service was good. Prices were reasonable. We couldn't get over the amount of detail inside the building. Just about every surface had been tiled and embellished. If we lived closer, this would be a regular stop, for sure.

Great Mexican food, definitely up there with the best. I ordered fajitas and the tortillas were fresh and home made. Chicken was amazing. And the margaritas generous and delicious!

  • Zack R.

I want to add to my previous review, and make sure that everyone who goes here experiences their home made tortillas! Holy mother are they good! I got the spicy beef in red sauce and asked for corn tortillas. He accidentally brought me flour, and after looking at them, I'm glad he did. They just looked incredible: slightly thin and translucent, misshapen, toasty-yet-soft. And the flavor was amazing. Perfect for sopping up the red sauce on my plate!

I love this place! I'm originally from Texas, born and raised, and since I've lived in the Columbus area I have only found "OK" Mexican food... until I found this little gem! I can not rave enough about how delicious the food is, consistently. My three point criteria on "good" Mexican food rests on the beans, the salsa and the guacamole. Every day they impress and NEVER disappoint. Their menu is extensive, I've been visiting this place for about a year now, averaging a visit about once a week and I have only gotten through about 1/4 of the menu. Okay, yes I already have my favorites, but I still try to explore and be adventurous from time to time. They excel on the genetic items like fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, etc... and impress on the more involved items I can't even spell without their menu in front of me. On the worst day ever (face it all places have bad days) the food was only "good", every other day besides that ONE day had been amazing, exceptional, awesome, and just plain stuff yourself silly out of this world! And need I mention everything is made fresh daily? The tortillas, the salsa, and the to die for hot salsa.. Yes I'm a fan.... Every day I walk in wondering just "how" good everything will be knowing I will never be disappointed. Now on to the perks of being a regular... They know me well enough that I always get my hot salsa with my chips (I love you, Beatrice.... Your smile warms my heart!) and that I love pico de gallo with my queso dip (we just call it queso in Texas) and most days it's a Bohemia beer (if you haven't tried it, it pairs sooooo well with Mexican food cuz its Mexican beer!) but sometimes it's a Cadillac Margarita (the jumbo reminds me of a goldfish bowl). The waitstaff is very attentive, and although their busiest days may take them a little bit longer to get to you or get your food out to you, they will always make you feel special and welcome with their charm and smiles. Emilio, Oralia, and Sochi know me best. Emilio is such a charmer, no matter how busy or slow he always makes me feel like the world revolves around the table I am sitting. Oralia is so adorable. She's tiny and sweet and always smiling, I just want to hug her she's so cute and she never forgets my extra napkins when though I do! Sochi is like the big sister always making sure everything is perfect, checking in on everyone and being wonderfully attentive. They have more staff than that but I try to sit with my favorites because I like to play catchup and hopefully brighten their day as much as they do mine. In my heart this place is my extended family. They remember me and I love them for all the little things they do for me. I try to treat them well and tip them well and I know they appreciate me as much as I do them. If you've never been to this place, give it a try! The portions are large, the prices are wonderful, the decor is festive and mood invoking, and the cleanliness is excellent. It's well worth the drive if you don't live close. If you haven't been in a while, go back and visit, try something new, smile and enjoy the closest thing to "home" (actually, it may even be better!) I've been able to find in 7 years... Just keep in mind if it's a busy day (Cinco de Mayo or weekend), expect service to be a little slower... Go for a Monday, Tuesday or a Wednesday if you want really quick food/service, since those are generally the slowest days.

Excellent! Came here because of the good reviews and we were very pleased. Lovely decor, friendly and attentive staff, and deliciously fresh food! We will definitely dine here whenever we are in the area. Top notch restaurant!

Absolutely the best Mexican food I've ever had! My Cadillac Margarita was loaded with hooch. Refried beans with chips were delicious. Pork carnitas were perfect; moist and tender! Love the flour tortillas. Great service and price. I WILL be going back!

I've passed by this place several times but was never in the mood for Mexican food. A coworker suggested we go here for lunch "her treat", so I said sure. I did not expect the food to be so good, ordered the Chicken Chimichanga and it was amazing, the tortilla was crisp and flaky, the chicken was tender and everything was piping hot! I was talked into getting the Sopapilla for desert and was glad I did, they were soft, sweet and yummy without being weighed down with tons of sugar. I highly recommend this tasty establishment!

I went here with my boyfriend because we were craving Mexican... you know, the usual Mexican you can usually expect. But this is not like any other Mexican restaurant! We were blown away! The service was excellent and speedy, and the tile work in the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. They give you complimentary salsa AND beans with slaw. And they refill it endlessly. The menu is huge, and everything sounds and looks amazing. The plates are huge, and the food is to die for! I tried the chipotle burrito. The sauce is probably the best sauce I've ever tasted. We can't stop raving about it to all our friends. If you don't try this place, you're really missing out. I can't wait to go back.

5 stars, hands down the best Mexican food I've had in Columbus. I'm from Texas, so Mexican food is one of the major food groups. Since moving to Columbus I've been severely lacking proper Texan nutrition, but after stumbling upon Casa Hacienda Grill, my pyramid is complete. It's a must try.

LOVE this place, definitely the best Mexican I've had in Columbus. I was a big fan of its predecessor, Hacienda Grill on Sinclair Rd, and I was thrilled to see the same people (and practically the same menu, albeit with expansions and new dishes) at Casa Hacienda. It's just good straightforward Tex-Mex fare at good prices; perfect for a cheap lunch with leftovers to take home. I highly recommend the Burrito Verde, which is pork with green verde sauce. I haven't found verde sauce like this place anywhere else in Columbus.

Let me start by saying this place has the most delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine that I've tried in the Columbus area. I've become sort of a regular here - I usually treat myself a few times a month. The majority of the time I take it to go since I live in the area, but I have dined in a couple times. Service is usually on the slower side, even if they aren't busy. The decor is pretty cool. There are colorful ceramic tiles and glass that accent the terra cotta-like walls. Gives it an authentic vibe. There are great lunch specials and combinations, as well as happy hour specials (if you're into that). The House Margarita is okay. The alcohol content is high, which is fine, but the couple times I tried them they tasted salty. And not salt-on-the-rim salty, but like they put a teaspoon of salt into the margarita itself. All the food I've tried is excellent. I think this is due to their flour tortillas which are the best I've had. They're always freshly grilled - the perfect combination of flaky, chewy, buttery, and crisp. It serves its purpose well in dishes like Burritos Colorado and Vallarta, quesadilla camaron (shrimp), and pairs well with the cheesy gooey delight that is queso fundido. I try something new every time I go, so I can't wait to get back!

My 2nd favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbus (behind Los Gauchos Taqueria). This is less a taqueria and more a full-service Mexican place, with the spread of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc that you would expect from your typical Mexican place. You wouldn't confuse this place with a Rick Bayless restaurant, and you probably won't find yourself saying "Muy Authentico!" all that many times during your visit, but for what it is - Mexican food familiar to us gringos - it is good. That said, it's well executed food (pretty much what you'd expect, but decidedly better than average), consistent quality, extremely good prices, friendly service, all in a nice building with a convenient location. What more could you want? During my last visit (today), I had a good cheese enchilada, a decent hard-shell taco with shredded beef, and a good chile relleno. One question - is Dublin Granville Rd the Boulevard of Mexican Restaurants in Columbus? There seem to be a number of Mexican restaurants and former (now closed and shuttered) Mexican restaurants. Also - I got this place and Fiesta Jalisco confused for the longest time. Both are on the north side of Dublin Granville Rd, and both are in big bright yellow buildings. Having eaten at both a number of times, I strongly prefer Casa Hacienda.

"house estate grill"? Walked in & I noticed there was not many people there, it was right at dinner the place was empty BIG RED FLAG! #1 I look @ the menu I see the Cadillac margarita of course we got to try that. The free serving of chips and salsa was put on the table with the beans and slaw... Now I got married in Belize. That's South America, south of Mexico FYI and the Geographically challenged. And this slaw, (native dish to Belize and terrific on a Johnny cake) that they are making is missing half it's ingredients I give them a E for effort. The chips, not fresh made like El Rayo Mexican restaurant. They come out of a bag here ready made. Not terrible, just not fresh. Red FLAG #2 The salsa was bland so I ask if they had a spicy salsa I could try she brings me this little bowl of smoky tomatillo salsa. It's hotter & it's better than the other stuff. So I inquire about the salsa and the slaw, asking how they make it. The waitress goes on to tell me that they make the salsa only on Monday's so if I like it hot I should come on Mondays when it's made fresh! It's Thursday! I tried to act like my jaw didn't just hit the floor bc I'm sitting there eating this shit and it's already 4 days old?! Our first waiter shows back up with the two margaritas and two shots. OMG, you got to be kidding me?! My margarita tasted like pure triple sec and was so sweet I dumped my shot in it and asked for a whole glass of ice on the side to water it down. It was still bad, but better. We order our food. Hubby orders the tampiquena at $17.95 bc it's suppose to be "the best" and, like El Rayo restaurant I got the Camarones a la Diabla. $12.95 Which is shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce. A dish that is classic Mexican. If you can't make this dish you need to hang it up, retire your chef coat seriously. Low & behold the food comes out and we just ordered! I mean like it was 5 mins!!!! RED FLAG # 3!!!! For those of you who are "restaurant challenged" and don't know what actually goes on behind closed doors at restaurants needs to watch a few months of food network, volunteer, at a shelter in the kitchen over the holidays and/or get a summer job workin in a kitchen. Rice gets put in giant hotel pans with water and are cooked once, dropped in a steam well and like 75 people get a scope out of it. The beans, omg they were so bland and watered down, in my opinion this was done to stretch the batch further so they wouldn't have to bother making a fresh batch or since NOW I was told to my face they only make things ONCE a week, maybe they were Mondays beans watered down to stretch out to Thursday. Hubby said his meat was ok but he didn't know what the (chili killies) was and dubbed them Mexican frito pie. Everything on the plate was half cold, half hot and the plate was HOT like it was just sent thru the salamander with all pre made stuff except the meat which was the only thing grilled fresh. Yep $18 bucks he could have had any steak anywhere for that price and it was paper thin skirt steak, maybe $3 bucks worth. The shrimp in my dish were two different sizes like they had a few med shrimp and they rest was small shrimp wtf?!?! Then it also had mushrooms in it?! Wtf?! Never, Ever have I EVER had mushrooms within this dish! It's suppose to be Mexican not Italian! The spicy tomato sauce was Sysco/Prego store bought mystery spegetti sauce doctored with a few mexican spices and I imagine the mushrooms were also added to doctor the bagged spegetti sauce taste! Then it hits me! Casa also means "house" in Italian! Hacienda is still "estate" so maybe this place is a really strange experiment of a blended family of Italians and Mexicans! How freakin Cool would that be?! So I asked. Nope, sorry folks. No Italians, no Mexican family either. One owner. One man. One freakin strange name for a restaurant, a really bad restaurant at that. I was so freakin pissed I just left. But not b4 I took a peek in the kitchen! Yep, giant commercial kitchen, cafeteria style food being made in giant portions like a catering company would do. How do I know all this? Bc I happen to be a Chef!! On my way out the door who do I run into? The owner. He was sitting in the sitting room with his hands in his hair like he was under a tremendous amount of pressure. And I can see why!! Bc after all the money he put into all this fancy tile work he should have saved some money for a professional chef and sous chef instead of just hiring all kitchen workers with little to no experience. I guess what they say is true that "ignorance is bliss" and if Columbus people are happy with sour cream and cheese covered meh out of a bag that's ok with me. But I know what really good Mexican is. And if El Rayo Mexican restaurant hole in the wall dive bar mexican joint out by the freakin airport is the best you got?! Thats the best columbus has to offer?! I guess I don't have much choice or competition, maybe I'm the Executive chef for the job!

I've gotta say this is probably the best Mexican cuisine I've had in Columbus. Part of that may have to do with the fact its right around the corner from my house, but its mostly been the great food! From the salsa, bean dip and slaw plate to the Birra or Seafood Fajitas, it has all been great! I feel like I can order pretty much anything from their menu and it be delicious. For those of you that don't understand the finely chopped slaw and bean dip plate, try them both on a chip together. YUM!!! Oh, and their interior.. All that tile work is amazingly impressive. They spared no expense. I can't say I've seen anything like it. You can tell they are planning to stay a while!

On my birthday, I wanted to hit up a Mexican place in Columbus that received good reviews. Driving home from my job along Dublin Granville Rd. (a.k.a. 161), I passed by Casa Hacienda and wanted to read up on it via Yelp. With all the 5 star reviews this place had received, I was prompted to finally go with my friends. As you walk in, you can tell they spent quality time decorating the place, and it has a clean ambient feel. Authentic Mexican feel with slight cumbia & tejano music in the background, but not to the point where it's way too loud. We headed there for a late dinner around 9 p.m. (place closes at 10 p.m.), but the staff was very professional and sat us right away. Upon first glance at the menu, it was huge and felt like I was reading a textbook assignment. Yet at the same time, it is a very detailed menu, has a vegetarian section, and enough selection to please the taste buds of the picky eater in your group. The prices seem a bit high, but the portion sizes are enough to have leftovers the next day. I ended up ordering the vegetarian enchiladas and a lime margarita. The food was cooked well, came out fresh & hot, and in a reasonable time. Upon first taste, I really enjoyed the refried beans, rice, and could tell they were well-seasoned. The enchilada sauce was great, yet the only veggies they put inside were pre-frozen carrots and broccoli you could buy in a bag at Giant Eagle. To give credit, I was full after the meal and props to the cocineros that served our group a nice hot dinner at a time when most cooks are ready to close up shop. My critique of the vegetarian enchiladas were the pre-frozen veggies & lack of caramelized onions & peppers that give the dish total consistency. When I don't need to reach for the hot sauce to compromise the flavor, I know that it is well-seasoned & make it a goal to personally compliment the chef after my meal. Add that to the well-mixed lime margarita I had & I could legitimately call it the best Mexican meal I've had in some time. Basically, this is a great place to take your family if you're a college student & want something that everyone will enjoy. The Tex-Mex adaptation can be a bit bland for spice aficionados such as myself, but still tasty. A big thing I appreciated was that our server did not rush us & waited until we asked for the check (a custom forgotten all too much in the restaurant business). Add to the fact that it was closing time and I will say that Casa Hacienda runs a really nice place. The Mexican people are like family to me, I will be back soon, and encourage others to experience Casa muy pronto. Salud!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Oh man alive, YES! Finally a decent Mexican restaurant in this area! Columbus, you don't know what you were doing to us! We were in serious withdrawals, begging to go to decent Mexican restaurants almost every time we went out of town! I kind of feel like the character of Janet in the movie "Singles" whose list of standards for a good man kept getting shorter the longer she dated until all he would have to do is say "bless you" when she sneezed- my standards for passable Mexican food in Columbus has been whittled down the criteria that the restaurant uses REAL CHEESE in their nachos and quesadillas. Well people, I'm here to tell you Casa Hacienda USES REAL CHEESE!!! Yeah, that's right, real cheese. And you know what's even better? The food is GOOD! Yeah, it's really good! And they've got an amazing variety of dishes. And the decor is bright and charming! And the prices are reasonable! I mean, seriously. It's amazing how much brighter my life feels right now, now there is a decent Mexican restaurant nearby.

You walk in and are hit with a blast of color and vivid Mexican ambience. It. Was. Beautiful! Very fun place, great menu, great service. They had cheap appetizers that could be a meal all on their own. I'd like to meet the person that eats an appetizer and a entree AND dessert. My boyfriend ordered an appetizer, chicken Mexican pizza. I had arroz con pollo. Both were delicious. We shared a dessert, banana strawberry fried icecream (SOO GOOD!). As one of those people that drinks and drinks and drinks (soda) when I'm out at a restaurant I really appreciated their giant glasses. Didn't need as many refills. :) Gonna get a margarita next time. And yes, there will be MANY next times!

Their food is always fresh, delicious, and they have so many choices. My wife feels they have the best chicken mole, and chilli relleno anywhere. I usually have the arroz pollo or arroz camarones. Atmosphere is top notch, great lunch specials.

They're back!!! My husband and I used to frequent their old location on Sinclair Road. The name then was La Hacienda Real, and we were heartbroken when it closed! We're thrilled to see them back in business and offering the same fantastic food and outstanding service that we were so accustomed to at their original location. Now, I haven't done any extensive research on the competitive cost of Mexican Dining in Columbus, but I will say that the prices are certainly reasonable for the large servings and exceptionally tasty fare! I also love that they offer a small American Menu for those who may have picky eaters in their group. Some of those items include Burgers, NY Steak and a Chicken Sandwich. Finally, let's not leave out the incredible and extensive dessert menu. There's surely something there that will please even the finickiest of palates. I personally recommend their Fried Ice Cream, and for the record, I am one of these aforementioned "picky eaters".

My husband and I have had trouble finding a good Mexican restaurant in the Columbus area. Many fails, but this one was great. The tortillas are homemade and they bring you beans with a slaw (the best!) on top of chips and salsa. Some of the dishes are Americanized by adding cheddar cheese which is not seen in Mexican cuisine, but they do have their more authentic dishes which use white cotija cheese. I give it a 5 because it's the best in Columbus. The only thing I recommend is putting cotija cheese on the beans instead of cheddar. I had to remove all the cheese off my beans last time and wasn't able to enjoy them as much. But overall it's clean, nice interior, good service, and good food.

When you walk in, you immediately notice the decor. There is lots of brightly colored, high-quality tile work and surprisingly intricate wood word and metal work throughout the restaurant. Upon seating, they serve you a basket of chips, a side of re-fried beans with a type of cole-slaw, and some of the best "house" salsa I've had. The menu is extensive and prices vary from the affordable combos to the more expensive seafood specialties--including whole, pan-fried tillapia fillets (complete with the head still on). Lunch specials during the week are cheap. Combos on the weekend are less expensive than entrees, but not as inexpensive as the week-day specials. When the food arrived, we were surprised by the portion sizes--they are huge. My plate easily could of accommodated a small pizza. Nothing was bland, nothing was over cooked. Even the sauce-covered tortillas still had a little al-dente crunch in them instead of a microwaved-squish. The re-fried beans still looked like beans instead of bean pudding like at most places. Everything was exceptional. Even the restrooms were highly decorated and clean. The wait staff was friendly and they are all bilingual. There were plenty of native speakers eating here during our visit. I guess that's a testament to the authenticity of the food. It's definitely more Pacific-Mexican than central or northern Tex-Mex. One person in our group noted that the food was slightly salty. I didn't notice till it was pointed out. Still, that's a minor ding in an otherwise enjoyable meal. This is the best Mexican food I've had in Columbus so far and I will come back to edit this review if I find someplace better.

Fantastic Food, Fantastic Service, Great Prices! We came to the area from Southern California to vist our daughter at college and wanted to take her and her friends out for a meal. She was missing Mexican food and after reading the reviews, we decided to try Casa Hacienda. Homemade beans and tortillas did not disappoint. The food was flavorful and entrees huge. Service was right on target of meeting every need without overdoing it. We were a party of 7 each with an individual entree, the check total was $94 and all of the college kids had lunch for the next day.

I've spent some time in the Southwest and took full advantage of the Mexican offerings (Sonoran Dog anyone?) while I was there. Casa Hacienda Grill (lovingly called House House by my friends and I) is hands down the best Mexican food in Columbus. I enjoyed El Vaquero for a while but would be hard pressed to go back when CHG is so readily available. The prices are reasonable, the menu is extensive and varied, and if the service was any better it would almost seem fake and annoying. Though they really should get Coke Products.

My husband and I love the food here and the service is second to none. They are very gratuitous helping me with Spanish pronounciation. The colorful decor cheers me instantly upon arrival. This is most certainly one ov my very favorite Mexican restaurants. They will see more of us.

Went here today for a business lunch, and I had low expectations going into it. However, it was much better than I expected. The prices were fair, they brought out refried beans along with the free chips and salsa, which was a nice touch, and a large selection on the menu. On the lunch menu they gave me there were very few vegetarian options, but when I asked the waiter he brought me a dinner menu and there were around 10 options that all looked good. I ended up getting cheese nachos supreme, and they were covered with more cheese than I thought possible, but otherwise the chips stayed crisp and the guacamole was delicious. The restaurant had lots of parking, a clean bathroom, and a fast and courteous staff.

To be honest, the only reason we tried Casa Hacienda Grill was because Cuco's is closed on Sundays. We wanted to love it because a.) it's super close to our house and b.) we always seem to be hungry for Mexican food on Sunday. My oldest son, who is never one to mince words said, "I would rate Taco Bell better than this." Now I wouldn't go that far, but I have to say, I didn't love the food. Maybe it's us (my husband , myself and our oldest son collectively rated the food about a 3 on a 10 scale, while our 9 y/o's immature taste buds rated it an 8...but he would eat his own fingers if they were covered in cheese, so we can ignore his opinion just this once.) The service was fast, but not great. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by their willingness to refill the salsa and chips; we were not offered a refill period. I also found the prices to be higher than necessary, especially because the ingredients did not reflect the need for the expense. The next time I want Mexican food, it won't be on a Sunday.

Best Mexican in C-bus, hands down. Best Mexican in the world? No. I mean really. It's Columbus, guys! Anyhow - salsa, beans, coleslaw (which I don't understand), all good. Food? Gargantuan portions at reasonable prices. When I first saw the menu and the prices I thought: "Huh. A little on the high side." Ordered anyway. And then saw the plates that came out: "Wow. That's why!" My husband and I could easily have shared a plate. Anyhow, he got the eggs and chorizo - how did he put it? "It's not like they just scrambled some eggs and slapped some chorizo on top of it. They actually put some thought into it." I got the pollo jalisco, which was spicy and good - I think there was half a chicken on my plate. I don't know if we can ever go to El Vaquero again. Oh, and the homemade tortillas? I normally don't like flour tortillas. They're just too... floury? But these were GOOD. Check 'em out guys, you won't regret it.

This is my new favorite Mexican eatery in town! Absolutely everything, from the service, to the food, and even the decor, was top-notch. A bit off the beaten path, but completely worth it. Not expensive. Go out of your way next time you feel like fajitas, you cannot miss their homemade flour tortillas. I've never had better!

I absolutely love this place. I had gone to their previous location for years and was sad when it closed. I was overjoyed to find that it had reopened. The food is exactly the same as before and I even saw a few familiar faces. If you like made-to-order flour tortillas as well as an awesome slaw and bean dip, visit TODAY! You will not be disappointed.

Sketchy area but Yelp gave it 4.5 stars, and looking at their menu they have a nice selection of vegetarian dishes. This is what brought my bf and I to Casa Hacienda. I love Mexican food and have recently become a vegetarian, so you can't go wrong with a Mexican restaurant, Right? Actually I couldn't have been more wrong!! First, we did like the beans and slaw along with the salsa and chips, different and fairly tasty. The canned beer with no offer of glasses was disappointing...but we just asked for them and waited, no bigee. I love enchiladas and burritos but something seems strange about celery, carrots, and broccoli being in these choices. It kinda turned me off, so I went with the vegetarian quesadilla with onions, peppers, zucchini, and mushrooms...with guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. My bf ordered the seafood chimichanga with no scallops, extra shrimp instead. It only took minutes for our food to be served. My quesadilla was huge and looked nice and bf's chimi was a soft tortilla smothered with a pungent white (jack) sauce that was awful!! A chimi that's soft?? He just opened up the chimi and ate the filling avoiding the sauce...sadly only a few small shrimp inside so he was thankful for the rice and beans that were on his plate. I was able to eat two wedges of my quesadilla before biting into celery?? Then the next bite had carrot! So I decided to just open it up and see what's in this crazy thing...and found broccoli and cauliflower, carrots, and celery. Gross!! Which seemed like a bag of frozen vegetable medley, poorly scattered on my quesadilla!! Completely half assed. Our server didn't at all seem troubled by the mistake, but offered to have it re-done. How about just make it right? It wasn't my taste that was the problem, this dish was made completely wrong! I don't know about you, but carrots, celery, and broccoli don't belong in Mexican cuisine. We both agreed that the guacamole wasn't too bad. With that all said the tile work was beautiful and the place was really clean. We didn't stay long enough to use the bathroom, but found it awesome that there was no dust on the fake plants or chandeliers. Somebody really cares about that part, wish the Chef shared this opinion in his preparations. So, to surmise...both plates were made wrong, sauce was awful, veggies seem frozen, chips seem bagged, service wasn't great, and yet we still payed full price!! They did remake the quesadilla Togo. We will not be back...even with an offering of a free meal, not that they offered that...just making a point!

I'm from Texas, so I guess I kind of asked for it going to dinner at a Mexican place in OH! But I saw the reviews and figured, why not. The chips and salsa were ok. The salsa is spicy but more tomatoe based than salsa. The bean dip was good though! I ordered the shrimp fajitas and it was missing that "grilled" taste. If you order fajitas you expect a little char from the sautéing. There was none. It was like they boiled the shrimp and sautéed the onions and peppers with too much oil and barely any seasonings. Rice and beans were ok but the guacamole left little to be desired. Tortillas were good. Overall, I was less than thrilled, but again I'm from Texas and Mexican food is difficult to beat from there.

Love the tiles, artwork, wood carving on the benches. Every surface is decorated. It is kitchsy but really just straight up fantastic. Beans and slaw came with the chips. Best idea ever. They have some different vegetarian options you don't see all the time - fantastic Chile Relleno Burrito! Good for Vegetarians and they brought out my partners vegan. Massive amount of food for $9. Fast service and friendly folks.

We seriously enjoyed C. H. G. The place is bright, colorful and clean. The staff was friendly, neatly dressed and plentiful. The menu is extensive but it is full of photos and descriptions. The service was complete and speedy. The food came hot on large plates. We were so full we didn't have room for dessert. We will definitely be back.

We visited Thurs 9/12/13, 7pm. Food was hot and flavorful, service friendly and casual. Menu a bit overwhelming, but we decided to share the Mexican Trio, and it was delicious! And the slaw was so good we had to order more! Also shared a spinach enchilada, and we'd recommend it highly!

This place is a cut above your typical Mexican restaurant across the board. The service is better, the food is better, and the ambiance is better. The tile work and art work are outstanding...somebody clearly took time in designing and decorating this place. The beans and slaw served with the chips were a refreshing change as well. I'm yet to have a dish that is not delicious!

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've visited in central Ohio and on par with what I had in Mexico. Location: It's conveniently seated at 71/161, so you can zip on and off the highway. The building is Latin kitsch at its finest, inside and out. Gorgeous tile work and painting everywhere you look. It's a feast for the eyes. Service: Fast, friendly, and very accommodating. They keep your glasses full, dirty plates gone, and don't rush you. Food: nothing less than excellent. Last time I had sopa de albondigas. It came in a giant bowl filled with a well-flavored broth housing big chunks of tomatillo, daikon (yeah, weird), potato, and celery, plus two big fluffy light meat balls. I practically licked the bowl clean. Then I had pollo en mole. The chicken was moist and the sauce was rich. The house-made flour tortillas were ok, a tiny bit oily for me. The corn tortillas, however, were just right. For desert was flan, which was a small portion for the price, but it tasted good. I've been there five times since it opened. I really love it. And, to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food in general--partially because the Mexican fare around Columbus isn't always great--sloppy, greasy, over sauced. But I really love it here.

Now, I must warn, I am in no way a professional reviewer, in fact this is my first here on yelp. Please don't let that sway you. I'm writing this review because I was astoundingly impressed with this restaurant. Ive watched this place under construction curiously for what seems like 2 years? Finally after feasting through the holidays on "comfort food" I was craving some *good* Mexican food....which isn't really synonymous with Columbus, Ohio....with the exception of a few taco trucks in my humble opinion. Alas, taco trucks only offer a small taste of Mexican cuisine, enter Cass Hacienda Grill. This place tops my list of Mexican restaurants here in Columbus. CLEAN! I mean sparkling clean, from the tobasco sauce neatly tucked into the condiment organizer sitting atop your spotless table to the underside of the toilet in the restroom (yes, I checked). Now a large reason for my lack of reviewing places is, truth be told, I just don't eat out much anymore. I much prefer preparing a meal at home and skipping all the hassles and disappointments. Also....service anywhere seems non existant. If I'm paying to eat at your establishment, I'm contributing to your livelyhood and feel like I deserve to be treated at minimum with the same consideration you would give serving in your home. Arrogant maybe, but ive worked food service, it's not all that rewarding, but not every customer is going to be "that customer" and we do not deserve to be treated badly then expected to tip. I always feel obliged to tip, and when more often then not I'm treated poorly, it just compounds my eating out problem. Ah now to the long winded point. You WILL NOT get better service in the city, if you do, please let me know where because I need to eat there. My glass never went empty, I saw 2 servers, one who took my order and one who brought my food. Both wore a warm smile, and were above and beyond friendly and helpful. Every question answered, every "demand" met, prompt and I mean prompt service. Never once did I find myself needing for anything or like I was inconveniencing someone because I needed a box or had a question about the food. Ah...yes, the food. I cannot rave enough about the food. From the delicious chips, "hot sauce" and refried beans and slaw's for dipping that they kick the meal off with, to the most delicious shredded beef enchilada ive ever had the pleasure of eating. This place is what a Mexican restaurant should be, clean, inviting, delicious and filling. This is going to be a regular spot for me, I have to try to whole menu.

Excellent authentic food. I went here twice and both times i was pleased. Food was great Emilio, my server was attentive and quick. Anytime i eat mexican i look at how they do the basics -beans and rice. Here they were done with care. Good flavors. Anything iff the char grill is fantastic. Try the carne asada! Also the short ribs in green chili sauce is to die for! Good pricing and great decor here! The

By far my favorite Mexican sit down restaurant in Columbus. Got Chili Rellenos today and haven't had one this good since I lived in San Antonio. Highly recommend.

Nothing special. If you're from the south and know what Mexican food should taste like, you won't be impressed at all. And wtf is that coleslaw and refried bean dip?!

I don't have too much to say that others haven't, but this place is phenomenal, my favorite Mexican place in Columbus by far. Tortillas are on point, as others have said. Somehow very thin, but still have great flavor and are able to hold all the ingredients without tearing, getting soggy, etc. So delicious! Chips and salsa were good, as was the bean dip that comes out with them. The salsa was a little chunky for my personal taste, but the flavors were fantastic. Our server was very nice, quick, and checked back with us just the right amount. I had the carne asada and my friend had chicken fajitas, both were great and the rice, beans, and toppings were all fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend!

After my visit last night, I had to update my review. We waited for 20 minutes before someone took our drink orders. We ordered everything at once because we were not sure the server would return to take our food order. Everything that we ordered was tasty. My appetizer was large enough to share with four people. Our margaritas were strong.....And then we waited for another 25 minutes after we had finished before someone came by so we could ask for the check. We waited another ten minutes to actually receive the check. Super annoying. The food is pretty good, but I've started to prefer more authentic styles of Mexican food since my last review. Although the tortillas are great, I can't get past the absurd amount of cheddar cheese on everything. No thanks. This place isn't bad, but it definitely isn't on the top of my list for favorite Mexican places in Columbus.

Alright I know every restaurant has its kinks, but we are here mostly to talk about food! Here the food is amazing! We have been there 3 times now. Service has been great with the exception is the welcoming into the store and the amount of time to seat one of those times. The appetizer sampler platter is great! Lots of different looks and everything is as good as the next. You get chips and salsa (though salsa I do not fancy very much), and even refried beans! Which are very good. Both specialty burritos I have tried were fantastic. Portion sizes are great and the prices are good as well.

This was the first time I'd ever visited a Mexican restaurant where they give complimentary bean dip with the chips as well as salsa. It was very tasty to boot. We weren't starving so we got the appetizer sampler to split and we only ate about 3/4 of it before we were stuffed. So in other words, it was huge. I don't think the picture does it justice. The beer was nice and cold too. The waitress made us wait for longer than I would've liked after we got served though. It took a while for her to check on us and then for the bill at the end. Despite that, I would still visit here again next time I'm in Columbus.

It would have been a 5 if the service was better but the food is fantastic! I had been looking for a place to try after the last couple of visits to El Vaqueros was not up to par. I had chicken enchiladas with cheese and black beans and it was delish! My step mom had the carne asada tacos and let me tell you from the small bite I had they were amazing! The food is very flavorful, and they also bring you a wonderful bean and slaw dip with your salsa that is very tasty also. Other than not getting refills on our drinks after the server came by a few times to check on us, this is a great place.

We've been looking for great Mexican food since we moved to Columbus - this is it. It's not Tex-Mex, it's Mexican food done very well. Prices are great and it has all the things you want in a good Mexican restaurant. Good service, friendly staff too.

I was hoping to give this place a better review, but it really fell flat for me. The sad part is our server was super nice and attentive for the most part, but that was about it. My girlfriend and I didn't have a bad experience, but the food was really just average at best. Like everyone's said, they start you out with chips and salsa but also add a plate of beans and slaw which is cool, if not a bit odd (at least the slaw). The salsa had pretty good flavor, but it was so runny, and there was so little of it, that you hardly got a good bite in. For lunch, I went with the carne asada tacos, and the girlriend had one of the enchilada, tamale, and tostada combo. I also tried an order of their fried chile peppers, which were essentially just jalapeno poppers served with ranch. They were decent but nothing special. I was just really hungry and needed something quick. The food was out quickly, and I'll say that the highlight of the meal was the homemade tortillas that came with the tacos. They were pretty damn good, but that's about where good stops. The steak was pretty bland, and even throwing a bunch of the homemade hot sauce (which didn't have much flavor either) and the tomatillo sauce on it, didn't make it much better. The plates are huge and come with rice and a side of guacamole, but the tacos themselves are huge, so you'll find it hard to finish the rest of the plate. My girlfriend's tamale and chicken enchilada left a lot to be desired, and I couldn't even tell that there was pork on the tostada due to how much lettuce they put on it. By the time she got to it, the tortilla was so soggy that it fell apart everywhere. Our original plan was to check out Taqueria Guadalajara, and I wish we had, because I was not impressed with this place. It could be that I didn't try the rish dishes, but I won't go out of my way to check it out again. Hopefully, some day in the future, I'll be back and prove myself wrong.

Came here on a recommendation of a coworker. She's Mexican and said the food was great. Dining on Nuevo Acapulco for years, I'm very skeptical there can be better. This place may be it. Sat down to a basket of chips and a small salsa. Chips were good, but not great. Salsa was good, and close to great. Nice zing but a bit watery. Opened with a Cadillac Margarita the size of my head! Not sure what it's going to set me back, but very very tasty. Ordered the queso fundido with chorizo as an app, along with our dinner, Casa Hascienda for 2. It all came out at the same time. Cheese dip was good, but the entree was great! Carne Asasa, chillie rejeno, chunks of beef in a mole sauce. Side of tortillas was the best we ever had. Overall, service was a bit poor, but friendly. Food, however, was excellent all the way!

I was excited to check this place out because of the great reviews. I went for a work lunch and was unimpressed. Everything was good but not great. For me, it's not worth driving to Dublin Granville Road and eating next to the condemned Knights Inn. The Salsa and corn tortilla's were above average but I just don't see what all the excitement is about.

Good food, good prices! 4 stars for friendly servers but the front desk/greeter service is poor and I wouldn't even give that service 1 star. We were not acknowledged for 10 minutes while the front desk girl proceeded to take a personal call. She offered NO apology for our wait. This is the second time this has happened, which is unacceptable. We will not wait if there is a third time.

Food overall was good but the rating is lowered for multiple reasons, including customer service, the server, and prices. I would not consider this the best Mexican restaurant in Columbus, there are many better... however for the variety on the menu and location in town it is respectable. The biggest issues I found was that they seem to be trying to run a Groupon and restaurant coupon scam, which made it far less respectable on my list. Be very very wary if you are going in with a Groupon, they will try to fight you on using it. I had just purchased one the other day and carefully read the small print details. It had nothing indicating no weekend usage and in fact it stated in it "reservations recommended on weekend". The only items it prohibited were happy hour specials and alcohol. Our bill before my one margarita (which was good) was over the $20 requirement. The server told us they only accepted them on Monday's and Tuesdays!! I pointed out that there were no restrictions listed on my Groupon so he got a manager... she came out and also tried to tell us that it wasn't valid on weekends. I again pointed out that it did not state that anywhere in the terms of what I had purchased. She then tried to argue that I'd ordered a margarita, I pointed out that the food itself was well over $20. She took my phone and walked away from the table (not a good practice) and then reluctantly gave us the discount after splitting our check into 2 (one for the alcohol and one for the food). This was way overcomplicating the process, especially for those that use credit cards to pay their bill. This experience is not enough to keep me from going again but I will not be purchasing another Groupon or any type of discount and caution anyone with one for this reason. For the meal we started out with them bringing out the standard chips and salsa, they also brought out a small plate with refried beans on it which was a nice extra touch. The server was very slow to come to our table when we arrived and timeliness continued to be an issue. I asked for a house hot sauce or salsa and they brought that out. The taste was very good with a nice heat to it but full of flavor. I ordered a house margarita which was well made and at 6.99 for 16 ounces very fairly priced. For our entrees my husband ordered the Chile Colorado with corn tortillas and black beans instead of refried. I ordered the Enchiladas Bandera Mexicana with pork. He apparently missed the part where I asked for it with pork and then offered me the wrong meat choices to go in it (he apparently did not realize pork was an option). When the entrees came out he did not bring the corn tortillas for my husbands entrée. We had to get his attention and remind him before he brought them out. He did not check back with us until the very end of the meal so drink refills were sparse and if we had had any problems with our food then we would have had to flag him down again. For the quality of the food, I found my husbands Chile Colorado to be rich and flavorful as I would expect but the beef was a bit small and chopped compared to what most restaurants typically serve. My enchiladas were delicious and the green chile sauce brought back childhood memories from when I grew up in Denver. I would definitely eat an entire bowl of that with some pork and tortillas. :) The portion sizes were fair to generous but I found the pricing to be a tad bit higher than I would expect for those entrees in most other restaurants in town. We will definitely try it again but I am leery of their business ethic after the Groupon incident I mentioned in the beginning of this review. (we went on a Saturday night around 6pm, review was not written until the morning after)

Ok, so first of all, I love Mexican food. Unfortunately, I don't often find it to my liking. Too many places rely on cheese sauces that honestly turn my stomach. But this place was different. Walked in for a late lunch early dinner. Place wasn't packed, but not dead either. First thing they put on the table was the usual freshly made tortilla chips and salsa, but what's this? Bean and slaw dip! Unexpected and delicious! Wanted to try a drink from their extensive selection, but had other things to do that day, so on to the food. I ordered the combo plate with 3 choices, chicken burrito, ground beef chimichanga, and chile rellenos. Came with the usual refried beans, lettuce and pico, but instead of drowning in cheese sauces, it was covered in shredded cheese that melted perfectly. As other reviewers have noted, the tortillas are quite good, being flour tortillas, and my chimichanga was nice and crispy. I will say the salsa was the usual thin affair, which only bothered me when that on my chile rellenos got other things wet, but that's minor. I could always ask for it in a separate plate. In all, very good meal, I'd love to try some drinks and investigate their dessert options.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
