Not bad, although I have to say I would give most donut places these days a maximum of 2 stars, and more often 1 star, so 3 is pretty good. I tried the black raspberry donut that was filled with pretty basic red raspberry jam. The blueberry donut seemed like it was made with dried blueberries that maybe needed a little more rehydrating, but the donut was ok. The apple fritter was really good, with lots of cinnamon, but a little lacking in apple. I was pretty impressed with their selection of fair trade teas though. Service was adequate, but not incredibly friendly, and they don't have a public restroom. This is the kinda place where you will have a few old retired guys meeting for coffee on one side of you and a guy scratching his daily fix of lottery tickets on your other side while the local police officer walks passed the counter right into the kitchen. They do have free wifi, but if the staff doesn't know the password, it's buckeyedonuts.

good stuff and cheap, the building is run-down and lots of weirdo's lurking around the parking lot, but worth it!

Update: Im not going to buy stale Donuts from this place anymore. There are too many other places putting out quality product to settle for these sub-par (and over priced) Donuts.

Having gone to the campus location multiple times, I thought I'd try this one. That was a mistake. First off be aware they don't have nearly the menu their sister has. It's pretty much just donuts, coffee, hot chocolate. and juice. Well, the coffee was probably the worst I've ever tasted. Possibly because it was half cream, that the insane woman was dumping in my cup while asking if I wanted it. Um, yes? Do I have an choice? Then she didn't even fill up the 8 ounce cup. And it was so bad, that I could not even finish it. The donut was pretty good, but then again you have to be like skilled to screw up a chocolate creme filled donut. It just wasn't top notch (though I will admit, my standards are high having grown up on Lindsey's: yelp.com/biz/lindseys-ba… ) So basically, just don't. I highly recommend their campus location, but this is just to sketch for me.

I don't know why anybody could ever possibly give this place any less than five stars - clearly they are trying to convince themselves that their frozen weightwatchers fare tastes delicious by denigrating the wonderfully sugary, chocolatey, drizzled with the sweet nectar of the gods goodness that is defined by the amazing array of donuts that I and my two friends were given the good fortune of sampling tonight. If you are used to the usual fare offered by Tim Horton's... try this place. It'll redefine the standards by which you measure all of those other poor, inferior donuts. Actually, don't. Please, for the love of God - if you value your waistline... forget that you know this place exists. My blood sugar spikes just looking at the displays. Stay skinny. For my sake. Because I'll be busy stopping back again, chowing down more donuts. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Okay, Buckeye Donuts. I've been a fan of yours from waay back. I agree with most of the comments that the South High location is the bomb-diggity as compared to the Campus location. South High is awesome. When I lived in LA, where it's impossible IMHO to find a good donut or pizza, I regaled my roommates with tales of how incredibly awesome Buckeye Donuts was. When one of them traveled with me back to the OH for a visit, we stopped in. He agreed that Buckeye Donuts blew his hometown fave spot out of the water. My personal favorite at Buckeye Donuts is the chocolate cream filled powered donut. Most places fill theirs with frosting, which makes the donut too rich and inedible. But Buckeye Donuts fills theirs with a chocolate cream/mousse like filling and it's heavenly. Until yesterday. I stopped in to get myself and my son a little nosh and was disappointed that my chocolate cream filled donut barely had a teaspoon of filling in it. It was mostly dough and powered sugar. Not that those are bad, just that I go there for a donut that literally explodes with cream filling and for my dollar ($.95 a donut) I felt that I was gipped. My son's jelly donut was the same way. I mentioned it to the lady behind the counter and she said, "okay" and walked away. I know times are tight, everyone is trying to save money but there was almost too little filling in the donut to enjoy it. I was very disappointed. So, I agree that as far as donut shops go, Buckeye Donut is the place to be. I just hope they aren't scrimping so much that they lose customers.

I'm usually only hitting up Buckeye Donuts late night. If I've been to the one on campus, I don't remember it. I almost always go to the one on S High St. The place is a dive. It's not particularly clean, but the lady working is usually always friendly. The donuts are tasty, and the selection is usually pretty good. However, they're ALWAYS out of chocolate bismarks. Bummer.

The donuts here are delicious. I have not actually been to the shop as the donuts were always brought in by someone but they are very tasty and they have quite a selection.

THE. BEST. DOUGHNUTS. The maple bacon was sublime, so moist, airy, light, fluffly heaven. And I usually don't like cake doughnuts. The buckeye donughnut could change though. The peanut butter is not sweetened at all, and if it were a real buckeye flavor, It would taste more like a true buckeye. Still one of the best yeast based doughnuts I've ever had though! I ain't mad!

Moving here from the southwest, I was surprised to find a paucity of doughnut shops in Columbus (there seems to be one on every corner in Texas and Oklahoma) but found Buckeye Donut right away. While not an expert on the genre (for that, read CMH Gourmand in the blogosphere) I do like my doughnuts. This place is convenient, the doughnuts are top notch and the service is crazy nice. I am a sucker for crullers. I simply love them. With chocolate icing. If they do not have the chocolate ones, they will take the plain ones into the back and glaze them with chocolate for me. How cool is that? The blueberry doughnuts are as good as they get. Dough is solid and tasty. Blueberries are real. The outside is lightly crusted. Perfect. All I have had are good to great. And, the atmosphere is like something from the late 50's. If you need a doughnut fix, this is the place.

I wanted to write this review after I had been to the Buckeye Donuts on campus because a lot of the reviews seem to compare the two. I don't understand how these places share the same name honestly. They're two completely different places, with two different menus and two completely different atmospheres. This Buckeye Donuts is exactly what I expect a donut place to be. It's quiet, they have donuts for cheap, the service is decent and they leave you alone. That's all I want really. If you want to talk about your donuts, go to the one on campus, if you want to reflect deeply on your donut, go to the one on S. High.

Probably the best donut place we have found so far in Columbus! We love that we are able to walk here from our house, especially in the Summer Mornings. Place is simple, has a old diner feel to it. The place has a bar area where you can sit and drink your coffee and have your donut. They have a Buckeye Donut that is heaven on earth (There is a picture on here of it). It's easy to find, right off of high street and everyone is always friendly when we go in there. It's a place we tend to gravitate towards when we have family staying over at our house and we want to provide some breakfast items! They also do special orders. They over heard me talking to my husband about a donut I used to get when I was little. They told me next time I come in to tell them and they will make it for me even though it's not on the racks.

Just stood at the front counter for 10 minutes looking at donuts with staff folding boxes and making eye contact but not willing to serve my self and my wife. Looked around and noticed that she and I were the only people of color in the place. I have never had this problem at the high street location. Left without buying anything and won't return again.

This place was nice. For a place that specializes in donuts, they've definitely surpassed Krispy Kream. They had about every flavor and combination I could possibly think of for a donut, and the donuts themselves were delicious. The location was a bit bleak though and lacking friendliness. I wasn't greeted when I entered, and nobody seemed too happy with their job, but I guess they are working at a donut shop. But still.....it seemed a bit off. I definitely think I might return in the future if I want a donut, but maybe not to this location.

I will make this short as possible. We had an event on April 12, 2014. We called a day ahead to order 3 dozen donuts and 2 gallons of coffee to take to our event. The person who took our order said we were all set and it would be ready at 6:15AM on Saturday. We call around 5:45AM to ask if they could take payment over the phone, as we were having a volunteer pick it up. The lady who answered said they cannot take payment over the phone, did not know what the total would be and had no idea about the order. Okay, that sucks, but she said they could get it ready still and it would be ready by 6:15. Cool, no problem! At 6:30 AM the volunteer arrived to have none of the order ready. They were able to throw donuts in the box, but the coffee is another story. It was not ready. Alright, two gallons of coffee take about 10 minutes to brew. Shouldn't be too much of a problem, at least it will be hot! Time ticks by and ticks by. I get a call at 7AM from the volunteer staying the coffee still was not ready. They did not have any thermos boxes to put it in. Excuse me? Was this not something that could have been discovered an hour earlier when we called in to confirm the order? Or a half hour earlier when she went in to get the goods? Or even 15 minutes before that when it was suppose to be ready? After alerted about this issue, I immediately called Starbucks on Front St. They said the coffee would be ready in 10 minutes and we could go pick it up. Sure enough, it was and the ladies working there were very kind and delightful. After our event was over, I called Buckeye Donuts to ask what the issue was. They told me the same thing as they told the volunteer. There were no thermoses for the coffee. The lady told me she got in a 6AM and was someone different than I spoke to at 5:45 am. The lady at 5:45 am must have been confused and they should have known they were out. Well, I guess so, but why was I not alerted about this at 6AM when the "knowledgeable" person got in to work or why did our volunteer wait around for over 30 minutes for something that just wasn't going to happen? After this whole confusing situation took place, they still charged us full price for the donuts (when they were suppose to be part of a discounted package deal with the coffee) and couldn't even genuinely apologize for this mistake. All in all, this was a terrible experience and not something you want to go through the morning of your event. When you place an order ahead of time and call to confirm it the morning of, you have a certain level of trust and confidence that it will be taken care of. This will be the last time we ever visit this establishment or even think of using them for an event again.

With high hopes I stopped at Buckeye Donuts. Staff was nice, shop was cool, a few older men spending their retirement at the counter. Got a dozen fancy/mixed for $13.95. Not a bad price. Too bad all the donuts seemed 12 hours old. Not one of them had any crispness. They could probably improve all the donuts by covering each of them in the peanut butter cream you'll find in the buckeye donut. The cake donuts were each inedible, even the glazed coated peanut one. They were all hard and dry. The long johns were limp and underfilled. Apple fritters were pretty good, but would have been better fresh. Again, all donuts suffered because they didn't taste fresh. At 10Am you think they'd have at least been the second batch for the day, but I have had many donuts and am sure they were not remotely fresh out the oven. I would say there are many places, including Giant Eagle, I would go to before getting a Buckeye Donut again.

Classic donuts, classic flavors, and they never, ever, ever close. Just remember that if you show up between ~9pm and 2am, they will probably be running out of the more popular selections and specialty donuts. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the custard filled powdered donut and their apple fritters, but your mileage may vary.

Old school vibe, which fits its south-end location. I had a donut at 3am, and the lady working the counter told me mine was fresh made. I had a cream filled long john and it was delicious!

I was looking for a donut cake for my mother's birthday and so I called around to all of the donut places close to us. I wasn't able to find a place that would do it until I called Buckeye Donuts. It wasn't something that was on their menu but the owner said that he would do it for me. It ended up turning out great! I was so thankful that the owner went out of his way to make this happen for me. I will definitely be going back to this location in the future!

I hate the Buckeye Donuts on N. High Street, its busy and crowded and the donuts taste stale, but head a little south on High Street ( okay a lot south) and you'll find Buckeye Donuts SOUTH ! with a huge range of amazing tasty, delicious Donuts. Who cares if the donuts are bad for you, just grab however many you want and you'll be happy. I don't really want to write a huge review about donuts, I mean is there really anything else to say? They are open twenty four hours and there is normally a pretty good police presence here if you are worried about headed this far to the south side. If you want them fresh stop by early in the morning, or call a head and they will have some for you.

Oh god, not like I need it, but they have "the buckeye donut" that's a chocolate glazed ring with peanut butter filling in the hole. The donuts here are just too good, fortunately I'm not in this area often so I hold back a lot by not going. Fun note, walked in here this morning and the entire counter was filled with cops.

We made it back for a Buckeye donut. A fluffy donut coated in chocolate and the donut hole filled with sweet peanut butter cream. Yeah baby! I like the spread the cream all over the top of the donut so I get some in each bite instead of a glob in one bite. *insert Homer Simpson donut noise* It is heaven. I want one. NOW.

This is the less interesting bastard cousin of the Buckeye Donuts on N. High. I was disappointed to find that they don't have the gyros and other sandwiches you'll find at the one near campus, but the donuts are just as good.

Came here the other day just to try it out. I rarely come down this way because I think this area looks pretty scary sometimes. It's on High St., but it's all the way down past Thurman Ave. in Merion Village. In fact, I didn't even know that there was a Buckeye Donuts down here until I was down here driving around going somewhere else. I thought there was only one Buckeye Donuts! Jeff and I came back here to see if it was any good. Plus it's a lot more accessible than the campus location because it has a parking lot. So we pulled into the lot and right away almost got hit by some old guy in a pick-up truck backing out of his space that wasn't paying attention. Then he looked at us like we were just stupid kids and drove away. I gotta say, this place looks pretty junky. Inside and out. The B and E are missing from the front sign. It is old and outdated. The menu inside is written with those little plastic letters on a white board. It doesn't look like this place has changed much since it opened. There was a group of three older people sitting in the corner playing rummy. This looked like their daily hangout. I have no doubt that this place has it's regulars, but here it's old retired people as opposed to the students you'd find at the campus location. This one is also different in that they don't serve gyros or anything like that (I guess the older crowd just don't crave them like drunk college students) and they have tons of lottery tickets displayed at the counter. Weird thing: As soon as we walked in the woman behind the counter greeted us with a smile and said, "Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you in here in forever!" To me. Yeah, I've never been here! It kinda threw me off but I shrugged it off and we proceeded to order our donuts. We looked at their selection behind the counter and Jeff instantly singled one out a chocolate cake donut with colored sprinkles all over it. They did still have a pretty good selection. I forgot to mention it was the middle of the day. On a weekday. I couldn't decide, but the lady said, "Don't forget to check out these ones," and pointed out ones in the display case under the counter. She pointed out what was what and I had to stop her when she got to the signature Buckeye Donut. It had chocolate icing with a glop of peanut butter cream on top. That was mine! When she took it out she told me that those had been sitting out for a while so it wasn't real fresh, so she said she'd give it to me for half price. She also said that she hadn't made them or else there would have been a heck of a lot more peanut butter on top. But that was fine. It was like $1.37 for our treats. And the taste? Jeff's was really good, and I don't even really like chocolate donuts. But I would have eaten this one. Mine was great. It tasted fine - it wasn't stale and it was soft and chewy like it was supposed to be. The peanut butter cream was very light and fluffy, but it would have been nice if there was more of it! I try to stay away from donuts but if I ever have a craving this is likely where I'll be to get some more. The donuts are cheap, the service was nice, and they had a great selection of kinds of donuts. Plus they are open 24 hours!

Buckeye Donuts on the South Siiiiide makes me feel like I am in a cop show from the 1950s. Or, in a Wayne Hancock music video. (Please see: youtube.com/watch?v=1Itg… ). Aghast that, having lived in the great city of Columbus for going on four years now, I'd never been to any Buckeye Donuts, the boy dragged me (so very willingly) to the South Side for the sole purpose of obtaining Buckeye Donuts. Being a Dunkin Donuts obsessed New Englander, I was skeptical - very skeptical. There is nothing like a Boston Creme Donut from DD's, sorry world. And, as it turns out, this remained the truth - but that doesn't mean Buckeye Donuts wasn't awesome. It kinda blew my mind. I am so glad we went to the South Side location. Very much a small-town lunch counter/diner feel, this location doesn't have the gyros and fries that the campus shop panders to drunken undergrads - and rightly so. Fried munchies very much belong on campus - a true doughnut shop is what you'll find on S. High. There are picnic benches outside and a small counter inside. When we went in they were playing a football game, and there was a lone local watching it and sipping watery coffee out of a styrofoam cup. Of course we ordered coffees and two donuts each. The Bavarian cream did not live up to Boston creme of Dunkin Donuts fame, but then again, nothing will, so I wasn't surprised. The apple fritter was fantastic, as was the krueller (I think you all call them doughnut sticks here?) and the coconut covered doughnut we shared. They all tasted very homemade, which of course they are - which is why I liked them, compared to the manufactured and uniform taste and texture of the (still amazing) donuts at DD. Want to food-time warp into the land before megalith corporatism? Like 1950s cop shows or outlaw country? Nostalgic for simpler days? I recommend S. High Buckeye Donuts. It's sure to cheer you up. In the yummiest way possible.

Best donuts in Columbus. The only problem is that their signature "Buckeye donut" (made with peanut butter mousse) often sells out quickly, making them hard to come by in the evening.

I was in the Southside today and stopped to get a donut. It was just "okay".
