If the county landfill had a restaurant, and its specialty were diapers with braised roadkill and pipe-sludge aioli, I would still give it five stars if it served Acre's sweet-corn cookies for dessert. Yeah, they're that good. And the rest of the meal was pretty solid, too. I had the BBQ bowl with chicken and quinoa. Quinoa has a reputation as hipster feed, but it's underrated... much tastier than rice. As a whole, the bowl was tasty... didn't blow me away on the first bite, but it grew on me, and by the end, I was tempted to lick the bowl. I also had a side of the sweet-and-savory popcorn, with orange and lavender. Love the large selection of unique sodas and drinks as well. The place looks great inside for what I think began its life as a KFC. Everybody was super-nice. Definitely adding Acre to my list of places for a great quick lunch or Friday-night takeout.

This is a great find, perfect lunch/dinner spot for Clintonville. The atmosphere is relaxed and clean, and the service was welcoming and friendly. We actually read multiple reviews prior to visiting that said "poor service," and we did not have that experience AT ALL. If you're reading this, don't read into the service remarks. Really great flavors definitely worth a try. My Thia wrap was the size of a chipotle burrito and so good!

So good! My family is loving the "Family of 4" meal right now. You get good portions of 2 types of bowls and one of Acre's awesome salads. We're pretty stuck on the Thai (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower) and BBQ (sweet potato, peppers and onions) and the incredible quinoa tabouli salad. This last time we also added in the edamame hummus, it's super tasty and my kids devoured it. I have a young family of 4 and we have yet to eat an entire order in one sitting. We usually have enough food left for about one more meal for someone. We've had to start keeping track of who got the leftovers last time.

Great food with a very casual and bright atmosphere. I tried a mole wrap and it was really good! I only took away a star because they put mushrooms in there which I don't like (and it wasn't listed as having that) and I found some chicken in my tofu (which can really make a vegetarian person sick). Otherwise the food was very good and when I mentioned they should be more careful with the tofu they replaced my burrito right away.

There was so much food. I got a bowl (the one with hoisin sauce, +tofu), definitely worth the price. I couldn't finish it. The ginger spritzer tasted exactly like I make mine at home, so probably overpriced for what it was, but I couldn't help but love getting it out in a restaurant! It was standing room crowded, but I ordered mine to go, and waited only a few minutes. I'll be back for sure.

After hearing all the raves about Acre after its opening weekend, I decided to check it out for lunch. I desperately wanted to be super excited, and I ended up feeling disappointed. I tried two different tacos, the mole taco and the hoisin taco. Neither of them really impressed me - chunks of chicken in a sort of overpowering sauce with a sprinkling of other toppings. The hoisin taco was listed as being topped with pickled cabbage but both tacos just had plain raw cabbage on top. Raw cabbage, to me, isn't super appetizing on a taco. I had a side of curry cauliflower with peanut sauce, and that was very good. I also really liked the shrub soda (black raspberry, I think). I will give it another try sometime, but I wish I had been more enthusiastic about my first visit.

First, OMG! The sweet corn cookies are amazing! The Thai bowl was delicious! The edamame hummus was incredible! This place rocks and brings the best and freshest foods and ingredients! Please do yourself a favor and try this place! Columbus needed a place like this. Keep up the great work! Thank you!

First: this place hasn't been open very long. I'm still into trying again in a few months to see if any kinks have been worked out. Gave it a shot early evening on a Friday. I joined the ranks of folks eagerly waiting really long times for their food. I waited 35-40 minutes for my to-go food, for example, which was kind of a bummer since I was in a hurry, and why I opted to grab a quick dinner at a place that touts itself as fast-casual in the first place. But alas. It happens, and I'm sympathetic to that. There wasn't a line out the door, however, and it seemed like a normal Friday night volume to me. The staff, while nice, did not display a lot of efficiency or sense of urgency necessary to crank out food consistently. I actually found a lot of the inefficiencies amusing, but equate them to growing pains that every new place inevitably experiences, then eventually corrects. The food: I got a bowl w/pork and a side of kale chips. Both items had some textural issues. Kale chips were aggressively salted and not very subtle. I like that these are an option, but need a bit of improvement. The mole sauce had some nice complex flavors going for it, but there were quite sizable flakes of what I'm guessing were chilies that were hard to swallow (literally). +1 on the pork, however, and the rice was nice and toothsome. There are a lot of comparisons to Northstar. When I go to Northstar, I know that my food will be consistent, tasty, and fast, and when it's not, will be corrected by management. Jury is still out on Acre in this regard.

My food wasn't great. Maybe a mole sauce is supposed to taste like that, but I didn't particularly enjoy it. The portions were small for the price. Overall, it was just ok.

I have been here twice and got bowls both times. The mole bowl was pretty good, but I really liked the thai bowl. I think the quality of food for the price is good and the inside is lovely. They did a lot of work to improve the interior.

I enjoyed this place. I loved their soda of the day thing they had going, today's shrub soda was pineapple. The basically take plain soda and add syrup. It was tasty though. Their vibe is fresh Thai or Mexican flared dishes with fresh produce. They are focused on being planet friendly. Putting almost everything to compost. The food is tasty and fresh, feels completely guilt free. I wasn't over the moon about it, but it was good eats. The atmosphere was pretty fresh feeling too.

Finally had the opportunity to try Acre - or, better known to the locals as the "healthy farm to table fast food place that's not as pricey as Northstar." I had very high expectations from friends' experiences and the reviews on Yelp. I think I share similar opinions to the very few reviewers on here that just felt "eh" about Acre. Again, I had very high expectations - that whatever I ordered would be mouth watering and savory - that I didn't need to scrutinize my selection and all would be well with the organic world. I ordered the Mole Wrap with tofu and the husband ordered the 3 taco variety - 2 mushroom and 1 chicken. Whenever I eat something with tofu, I find it most enjoyable when you don't realize that you're eating it. I think Chipolte has done a good job of this with their new tofu option. I found the Mole wrap to be just "eh" and the big fluffy chunks of tofu kind of threw me off. The husband's tacos were much better, but still not fantastically memorable. I would go back, but I'm in no rush. The soda fountain drinks looked good, but most of the time I'd rather save my money and go for the good ole Coke. I do support Acre's mission, but still need some convincing on the food.

I just revisited the mole bowl after attending opening weekend and it was fantastic and fast. The mole was deep and balanced, and the peppers and mushrooms were juicy and flavorful. I've had a few other dishes as well and generally like everything, but now I'm hooked on the mole bowl. The only thing I might like to be a little different is the tofu. It tastes marinated but just warmed, not really cooked in any sort of fashion. In this dish its just a protein, not adding anything to the dish. Its so great to have an option at $8.50 compared with $14 for a simpler bowl up the road.

I wish I had tried Acre earlier! Loved the Thai and pesto bowls as well as the edamame hummus and coconut chai drink. Very timely service, clean restaurant, and nice, unique atmosphere. The food tastes fresh and homemade. Leaves you feeling full but not guilty about what you just ate

I'm in Columbus about five times a year after living here for eight years previously. I usually end up eating at old standbys, and not particularly healthily. This place is a nice discovery, and I will definitely be back. Had the tofu mole bowl. Really, really good and really, really hearty.

As others have said, this place is still working out the Kinks. At the time of writing, it has been open for 2 months. I went to Acre on a Friday night at 6pm. I tried to turn into Arcadia street to park in the lot, but alas, it is exit only. Booo. I ended up parking on the street instead of the lot. Then I tried to use the closest door, locked. Booooo. Shuffle through the snow to the door that I am allowed to go in. BOOM line. While chipotle (who everyone compares this too) has ample space for a line, Acre does not. The layout leaves a bit to be desired as the line runs right into the door's space. I already knew what I wanted to order, and my order took about 5 minutes to make. The place was pretty full, and got fuller as the evening went on. To be noted, there is only maybe 2 seating options for groups over 4. The self serve water is nice, but once again is a layout issue when the place is busy. The food: Kale chips: Tasty at first, but then became hard to eat. Over salted, needs to be tweaked. 2/5 Mole Bowl: Plenty of food for leftovers, pretty good. Not crazy about the flavor of the brown sauce: 3/5 For clean up you put your tray away by the trash can. It was getting quite full, and trash was starting to fall out onto the floor. I don't think the staff had the chance to empty it the entire time I was there (almost an hour). I will try it again, and I am excited to see how this place improves!

I am pleasantly surprised. Stopped in for a quick early dinner. Just in time too. The place has ample seating but once it is busy it will fill up quick!. The food was quite good. Not great...maybe I should add..."for the price". Sure a salad is roughly 7 bucks, but if you want a bit of chicken in it (+2), and something other than water to drink (+3) you are now looking into the two dollar signs price range... and you may leave a little hungry still. I was, even after eating all the leftover chips my wife's wrap came with. I feel you could easily get to nearly a $20 meal and that is kind of a bummer. Makes it harder to want to frequent Acre for a quick bite. I am at a solid 3.5 stars, but will round up!

Great rice bowls and unique overall options. The burrito (I tried one once) was not so great. The Thai and Peking bowls with chicken or tofu are spectacular! Plus, very friendly service.

  • J A.

We thought the food was very bland, especially considering the fact that everyone keeps comparing it to northstar, which is delicious. The veggies were over cooked, the brown sauce tastes store bought, the meat was just ok. I'm hoping they improve.

  • Alexa L.

I like the concept of a healthy, fast food restaurant with locally sourced ingredients, but the food was just average and not that flavorful. I got the Peking bowl which was pretty good but only after adding a lot of sriracha. My friend got the Thai tacos and mentioned that the peanut sauce also lacked flavor. Service was fast and the place was very clean. I would try something else next time, but honestly I'm not really rushing to go back.

This place blew my mind!! Everything about it! From the cool Ohio art on the wall as you walk in, to the gleaming open space, the friendly staff, and the food--THE FOOD! This is how healthy food should be! Just because it's not layered in sauce or fried doesn't mean it can't taste good. They are doing it right here. I had kale chips (first time) and I wondered to myself as I was eating them why I waited so long to get on this kale kick. I also sampled the hummus with the carrot sticks and shagbark chips. Delish! Then for the main course was a very generous BBQ bowl filled with chicken, peppers, brown rice and sweet potatoes. It was just one big disco party of flavors in a bowl. There was so much that, for me, it was two meals. I loved it then, I love it now and I'm pretty sure I'll love it always. I wish them huge success on an endeavor to get healthy, delish, scrumptious food to the masses. In fact, I wish they were open now :) The end.

Gave had a few meals now since their opening, and I love the concept! Farm to table fast food, with a drive thru on the way? Awesome. And I love that they have healthy kids meals! The chicken mole was yummy and not too sweet. The shrubs are fantastic. The Cesar wrap was good, too. The only downside I had was the kale chips were too overdone. But I will try them again as their staff gets up to speed.

This place is okay, not great. I like the location and the decor, super friendly service, but the food has room for improvement. I had the mole chicken burrito, which maybe was not a good choice, now that I'm reading the other yelp reviews. That being said, no one else at my table seemed to be very excited about their selections either. All in all, a cool joint and I would go again, if someone else suggested it, and in that event I would get the sweet corn cookie that everyone is posting about.

Keep on Keepin' On Acre. Last night I had the Thai bowl (with chicken). Excellent food and pretty good value, too. Great service and an environment that's thoughtfully done and easy on the eyes. Grateful to have places like this in Clintonville. Acre rocks.

Stopped by on my way through town and it was a very good idea. Food was great and nice, clean decor and ambiance. Staff took the time to converse and really wanted everyone to have a good experience. I had the mole bowl and the sweet potatoes and wholeheartedly recommend both. Great little place and well worth the detour to get there.

Acre is a newer spot right on the boarder of Clintonville and North Campus. I know from my college days that this used to be a KFC, but the food at Acre is a far cry from greasy national fast food chain and that is the point. Acre seems to be all about locally sourced food served up fast. I think that is the big trend in food right now and it's what my generation seems to be asking for. You have your choice between 4 main categories here: bowls, wraps, salads, and tacos. They also have snacks (which I've never tried), sweets, and drinks. My favorite thing here so far is the Mole bowl. I have no idea if the Mole sauce is remotely close to a traditional mole; I just know it tastes awesome. The bowl comes with brown rice (you can get quinoa), and choice of chicken, tofu, or pork (pork is extra). I went with the pork and it was tasty. It also had an avocado cream sauce on top. The portion is a good size (I wasn't super stuffed afterward) and the price is excellent for the quality of the food. To go with it, the Pom-Ginger soda was so refreshing and the sweet corn cookie was my favorite sugar cookie I think I've ever had. It was so simple, but wonderful. I would think if you enjoy Northstar, you will enjoy Acre. I'm glad it's in the neighborhood.

This place is under flavored and over priced. $5 for 2 tiny tortillas filled with cheese... Could of made this stuff at home for like 10% of the cost. Also ordered the Thai chicken wrap. It was filled with wrongly cooked rice and unflavored chicken. Thai food is spicy and delicious. This was not. I feel like Mormons would like this place. It's like ultra white hipster suburban soul food... Exactly. It has no soul.

overpriced for the portion received. good atmosphere. I got the Thai bowl and my friends got the Thai tacos. the bowl had lots of cauliflower and broccoli. brown rice too. it was fine I guess. unremarkable but the company made up for it.

I had the Thai Bowl. Very tasty! The sweet corn cookie was AMAZING! Only one entrance to the place and parking were not fun. The staff were great and service was prompt. I can't wait to try other dishes.

I got the Peking bowl and I was very disappointed. It was so salty to a point I had to pour water into my bowl to mellow it out. I had such high hopes for this place since everyone kept comparing it to Northstar. I will probably come back one more time to give it another chance.

Went on a Friday night and met some friends. Got there before 6pm which was a good idea on a Friday if you want to be able to sit and dine in the restaurant because by 6:30 there was a pretty long line and not tons of seating inside. If you get water you have the option to get soda water, which was great. Food was wonderful, especially considering the price. Got the Thai bowl with chicken and it was very filling, all for less than 9 bucks. Wife got a mole wrap and enjoyed hers as well. Also got a berry smoothie, which was great for 4.50. It was made with yogurt and apple cider, very delicious. Wanted to try a corn cookie, but had to settle for chocolate because they were out of the corn, but the chocolate was also delicious. I will be going here from now on instead of Northstar, because as much as I love Northstar, I am tired of paying 12, 13, or 14 bucks for a quick and delicious meal, and plenty of people will keep going to support Northstar. Can't wait to try other menu offerings, and happy to have a healthy option for less than 10 bucks!

I had heard about Acre and we gave it a try on a whim. We were very pleased with the menu selections and quality of the food. Kind of like North Star type food, but quieter environment with a more varied menu. I had two kid size items, the kale/quinoa tabouleh, very tasty and unusual, and a mole bowl, and my husband had several tacos. We couldn't resist the cookies for carryout but they never made it all the way home; the sweet corn cookie was too tasty to save for later! We appreciate the healthy philosophy and that they spend a bit extra to have compostable cups and sauce containers for a very low waste facility.

Quick. Simple. Delicious. I think of these things when I think Acre. It's my go-to when I don't feel look cooking or spending a lot of money but don't want to expand my waistline either. I crave the edamame hummus on a weekly basis and the Thai Bowl has my heart. Not quite on the Northstar level but it certainly has that feel when looking at items on the menu. In a pinch for lunch/dinner? Acre is your spot.

My only complain/need- more sauce on Thai burrito. But that's only because it was AMAZING! You could absolutely taste the freshness and good portion size. My boyfriend and I shared the Thai burrito and taco salad. Both with chicken. Besides wanting more peanut sauce, Yummy yummy in my tummy!

    (4)
  • Benjamin K.

Opening night and service was understandably a wee bit slow but staff was very earnest. Menu is tight and ingredients were top shelf. Bbq bowl had a nice sweet sauce and the chicken was tender. Thai bowl's peanut sauce overwhelmed all the other flavors and couldn't taste the coconut rice or curried cauliflower. Tone the peanuts down; throw in some ginger and it will help IMHO. Again, staff was working hard and let's hope the business flows. Very comfortable seating and nice clean look.

Acre is a new (2014) restaurant in the area between South Clintonville and Campus on High St. (Arcadia and High) They are located in a converted fast-food building that previously housed a Mexican restaurant and a KFC among other things. Acre specializes in "close to the earth" cuisines with an international flair. This restaurant seems to take a lot of its ideas from the highly successful Columbus chain, Northstar. Many people that I spoke to prior to going to the restaurant said that it was basically a cheaper Northstar. Food: The food is one of Acre's strengths, but as with any new restaurant, has room for improvement. The first time I came to Acre I ordered the mole wrap with chips and salsa. When I got the food, it was really perfect. The wrap was soft and the rice was perfectly cooked. The mole sauce that was used had the hint of spice to remind you of the what you expect from a traditional mole and was rich in flavor and complexity. The chicken was tender and went well with the dish. The chips however, while being heavy, were lacking in flavor. Acre's staff would do well to add something to them. They were heavy and seemed stale - if they were kept warm or zested with lime before serving, they would stand out much better. During our first visit, one of my friends who was dining with me got the quinoa bowl with no protein. This bowl was pretty limited. It was quinoa with some basic spices and one single split cherry tomato. Although this is supposed to be a light dish, my friend complained that it left something to be desired. She mentioned that more tomatoes or a mild salsa on the side would give the dish more body. Myself and another dining companion of mine got the ginger-pom homemade soda as well. This was great and a divergence from the typical soda fountain fast food style. This is one of the attributes of the restaurant that sets it apart. Service: As some other yelpers have said, service at Acre, when they get busy is a bit slow. When I went for the first time, at dinner time on a weeknight, I had to go back to the counter after 12 minutes to remind the staff of my order. Service is friendly and professional but is still learning how to get everything done well and take care of customers at the same time. The second time I went, at lunch time on a weekday, service was much more attentive. I got my food within 5 minutes of ordering and it was just as good as the previous time. Ambiance: As said before, Acre is housed within an old KFC building. As such, it does not have the warmth or character that one would expect from an establishment in the vein that Acre resides. The ambiance really reminds me of a Chipotle - with a little quieter music. The color scheme is white, light blue, and blonde wood. It feels clean and open - if not too open. The floors are a simple but nice dark stained concrete and the ceilings are open to the rafters and heating ducts - as is typical in a Chipotle. As you walk in you are met with shelves with small growing plants and books that really make the space seem more inviting. When food is served, it is served on nice small oven trays, something I'm still not sure about. Overall, I hope that as Acre grows that they focus on making this building and the dining experience feel less like a fast food restaurant and more of a community affiliated restaurant. Considering the space they have chosen to occupy, I would say that they are doing really well at this point and maximizing their opportunity. Price: The price is another strong point for Acre. This is one of the things that will keep me coming back. In the Central Ohio area it is difficult to find a healthy lunch option that you can eat quickly and not pay $15 for. Acre is that option. Weather you are between classes or on a quick lunch break, you can stop in and have it all done in 15 minutes or less and have not eaten something that you will regret. For dinner, it is a more casual healthy option to the Northstar and Lavash options around the area. Overall, Acre is off to a great start. Their food is healthy and appetizing. Their staff are hospitable and their prices are really reasonable for what it is. Acre's owners would do well to continue to redefine fast-food if that is the style that they intend to maintain, or strongly distinguish themselves from the typical take out establishment. It is easy for a restaurant like this, that is social associated with a larger successful store's (Northstar) style to fall into the same path as the larger store and become boring. If Acre continues to surprise us and carve out a niche of their own, I think they will be really successful. 4 well earned stars.

Went in the first time today. I currently am not eating any added sweeteners and the employee I spoke to was very knowledgable about the menu and all ingredients. She was able to recommend sweetener-free (or easily modifiable) dishes. Food was great, service friendly, fast, good price, etc. I'll certainly be visiting here regularly.

I want to like Acre so much more than I do. you have such a good idea but lack the follow through. Your food was lacking in flavor and the stack of 6 corn chips on the side of my wrap was borderline offensive. Really 6 chips? I mean you did stack them all pretty like but I am not a 6 year old. Food like yours is why people refuse to patron "healthier option" establishments. Salt even! just something to add some flavor to your food.

The corn cookies. THE CORN COOKIES. If you only go for the corn cookies, it is money and time well spent. I also tried their Thai wrap w/tofu. Very good, but not quite as good as the one Northstar offers (VERY similar ingredients in both). Although they do have their own parking lot, I had to park down at Lucky's and walk because it was so busy. Just a heads up. It was a little too busy for my tastes (weekday lunchtime) but won't stop me from going back...for the corn cookies. Really glad this place exists!

I had been wanting to try this place for a while ever since I heard of it. I saw a review written up for it in the Columbus Underground so I thought maybe I should really pay this place a visit with my friends. The place is nice for meeting with your friends or family for a quick casual meal. When you arrive inside there is CBUS love all over as you walk in. You can also easily spot the menu to browse over. The choices are all healthy options like protein bowls with rice and veggies, wraps, salads and tacos. Then you can add sides like roasted sweet potatoes or a sweet corn cookie. As for a drink options you can get a fountain drink, iced chai tea, kombucha, and smoothies. I tried the BBQ Chicken Bowl. I think the sauce threw me off a little bit because it tasted like BBQ sauce mixed with apple butter. Mixed with the veggies and brown rice inside. I also got the mixed berry smoothie and that was okay, I really could taste the apple juice in that. I also tried my friends sweet corn cookie and man was that the bomb. The flavor was so sweet and corny. The cookie was literally bigger than my palm. Then I tried my friends iced chai tea and I actually really liked how that tasted. I rarely drink my chai tea's with ice. In all, I'm happy I came here and actually got to try it and check it off my list of places to try. If you want a health conscious place I would recommend trying it to see how you like it.

I like how nice this place looks, like a Ma & Pa healthy spot. Guy that took my order was super cool... There is no nice way to put this but my kale chips tasted burnt and way to salty. I use to know someone that spent 2 days making his & it destroys this. I don't recommend this at all here. Quinoa Tabouli was really damn good. I'll be coming back with friends that's for sure. I don't want to say better than North Star. I've only been here once and I love it, despite the shitty chips!

I've had this place bookmark since hearing about its plans of conception. I was thrilled to finally make it here for dinner with some great Yelp friends! This place has some great positives. The casual atmosphere makes it a great place to converse. Also, healthy options to choose from. The price point isn't bad - about what is expected for the menu and area/location. I tried a small Buttermilk Ranch side salad, the Thai burrito, a sweet corn cookie and their Iced Chai. To start, I thought the chai could have used a bit more flavor. But, hey, I respect the fact that this place is trying to do the healthy/no extra additives thing. So not a big deal. Just an fyi for myself. On to the burrito. Good. Outstanding, makes a lasting memory good? Not quite that far. I enjoyed tasting all the components. The amount of sauce did not over bare the concoction. Here, you order your food at the counter, come get it when they call your #. Personally, it would have been even more awesome if they brought my tray of yummies out. But in hind sight, a minor peeve. Overall, this was a perfectly good meal. Just... I don't think this has left that much of an impression to make me notice this joint, and stop in, when I this part of town.

Acre is a great spot for a quick, healthy lunch or dinner. Clintonville is my new neighborhood so I was excited when Acre opened close to my house! I've had the tacos, wraps and bowls. My experiences with the food and staff have always been positive. The chicken mole tacos are my favorite. $8 for three tacos and a side of chips & salsa. Acre is really affordable for the quality of food you are getting. I've had a few wraps and the tikka bowl special. I loved the tikka bowl and hope it stays on the menu! I have had a few of the drinks that are offered. I thought the drinks were overpriced for the size. The ginger spritzer wasn't very good. However, I usually get my meal to-go and drink a beverage from home. Definitely end your meal with a sweet corn cookie. The cookies are pretty large and perfectly baked. Crispy edges and a soft center - the way a cookie should be.

For my first visit, I decided upon 3 pork tacos. I received a Thai, a Mole, and a Santa Fe. All three were excellent! The corn tortillas were fresh with a great earthy aroma, all of the taco toppings were fresh and sexy (as every taco should be). I ordered three tacos anticipating that they would be on the lean side, these were very good portions, I almost didn't make it through taco trés (only however, almost). As a beverage I thought to go a little adventurous with an iced coconut chai. That was an excellent decision (note to self: iRock). (Gee, thanks me! You're welcome, you tha man!). It was sweet, not sickeningly so, and perfect for a warm day! Now, you can't look at my hips, and gather that I tend to skip dessert, sadly; I skip dessert often. Today on the recommendation of the smiling attendant, I ordered a Sweet Corn Cookie. Heaven! I picked up three to take home, and locked them safely in my lunchbox, in the trunk for fear they might not survive the drive home. Acre: Farm To Table To-Go is a very cool place! It was clean, service was exceptional, the menu does rotate with what is fresh in season, but in my mind that is how a menu should be. I heartily recommend coming in and experiencing this restaurant! Eat Local Columbus!

Stopped here for a quick lunch on the way to the airport. It's very casual dining in that you walk in, place your order and find a seat. Then when your order is ready you retrieve it from the counter. I ordered the 3 Thai chicken tacos and the sweet corn cookie. I am fairly unfamiliar with the Farm to Table concept as it's not something that seems to have caught on in Las Vegas to the degree that it has here. I enjoyed tasting my food without it being covered in a lot of sauces and seasonings. Everything looked and tasted clean. Even the chips that accompanied the tacos had a nice corn taste and were not greasy at all and didn't shatter when you bit into them. I'm glad the sweet corn cookie was recommended to me. It was the perfect blend of sugar cookie with a hint of corn. I wish I had ordered one to go. This is definitely a place I would revisit next time I am in Columbus. I am knocking one star because for as busy as this place is someone should be at least bussing the tables. As a customer I am doing everything else, which I don't mind, but stalking a table because it's crowded and then it being not wiped down is not cool. And just based on the size of Acre I would avoid traditional busy times for that reason.

Love this place! Went for the first time the other night and I've been back 3 more times since. Food is fresh and nicely prepared. The inside is clean and crisp and clearly very well taken care of. Prices are fair and portions are perfectly sized. Definitely my new go to for fast (but healthy) food.

Don't know why it took me so long to get here, but a haircut and bike ride put me nearby so I stopped in. If I'd known about the sweet corn cookies I would have been here on opening day... It's basically local fast-casual, and they do it very well. The building is cool inside and out. There was no wait at 2 on a weekday afternoon, though I imagine it gets crazy at peak times. Service was minimal but very friendly and efficient. There is a little wait till they bring your food out. I was hungry and not sure how big portions were, so I got the Thai bowl, savory popcorn, and a cookie. The bowl was perfect: seasoned but not spicy (there's sriracha handy,) full of veggies and chicken (my choice.) Well-cooked rice, everything blending just right. The popcorn was a nice snack, cheesy and crunchy. The cookie was like a huge sugar cookie, with serious corn flavor. If you like Jeni's sweet corn ice cream, get yourself over here and try this. Prices were reasonable for the quantity and quality. There's a decent selection of items, and a board telling you what ingredients they're using. I will definitely be back.

The best way to describe this place is an off-brand North Star with a twist. Most of the ingredients are locally sourced and they do have some different menu options which is nice. Lots of vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options too! I had a Thai chicken bowl which had just the right amount of spice, and the Thai peanut sauce was delicious. The veggies were all fresh as well, especially the curried cauliflower which was different but surprisingly awesome! We didn't get a chance to try dessert, but I have heard great things about their cookies! One warning is that the seating area is very small and you may have to wait for a table. And since they have counter service, you may end up standing around with your food before you can get a seat. But other than that, I think this place is here to stay! It was a great addition to the area.

In my opinion, this is the best new restaurant in Columbus! I absolutely love Acre! This is our go to lunch spot on Saturdays after a workout at the gym. Everything is fantastic and zero guilt. My favorite meal is the Thai wrap with tofu. The Bangkok peanut sauce is out of this world. I could drink it with a straw! I ALWAYS accompany it with a Shrub Fruit Soda and a Sweet Corn Cookie. Don't ask me what makes that darn cookie so good, but I'm addicted! If I'm really hungry, I'll also have a side of the Curried Cauliflower. Don't judge! I would be vegetarian if I could eat this every single day. My husband always has 3 tacos, usually the Thai tacos with chicken. We are a family of Bangkok peanut sauce lovers! The staff is consistently fast and friendly. The interior is clean and beautiful, and there is plenty of parking in the private lot. I've never seen the restaurant packed, but there is always a constant stream of people. You will not be disappointed. Give Acre a try!

Delicious healthy food. Friendly staff. Simple, aesthetically pleasing environment. You order the food and pick up food to bring to your table when your number is called. I had the thai bowl with tofu and peanut sauce and it was delicious! I love the clean, bright airy ambiance. Would go back again.

Five stars for what it is. We checked this place out because we love the concept. Healthy farm to table, but fast and cheap. We both had the Thai (one bowl one wrap). The flavors were great. Not sure why other people didn't think so. The peanut sauce was awesome. The wrap came with cabbage while the bowl had curried cauliflower which was a much better vegetable. Both had broccoli and carrots. Wrap was probably a little too heavy with rice and chips but I could have easily saved half for a second meal (as my SO did with her bowl). It was clean, spacious and most of all CHEAP and EASY. It's not the fanciest meal in the world but I gaurantee you I couldn't get what i did in New York or Los Angeles unless I paid double the price (I know. I've tried)

Our office went to Acre on a whim after discovering them on Columbus Underground. Having spent some time in Portland I understand the farm to table movement and am pretty excited to see it come to Columbus. Overall, not one of us left disappointed and we've been back several times since. I am not sure if their drive-thru is intended to be functional sometime in the future (I assume so) but that would set this place apart as the go-to for a quick farm to table meal. We came at a relatively quiet time of day, lunch time around 1:00pm. The staff was friendly and explained a bit about each bowl. I ordered a Peking Bowl and was able to be quickly served. They use actual silverware and ceramic dinnerware which is always nice for presentation. See photos for my particular bowl, which tasted as fantastic as it looked. Ingredients were clearly fresh and tasted incredible. My only gripe could be portion size, but I really shouldn't push this given my growing gut. We plan on coming back several more times throughout the year. Note their hours, however. We did try one day (Tuesday) and they were closed. I anticipate this to change as their following inevitably grows.

I've been to Acre several times since they opened and have ALWAYS had a great experience! Their food is quality and consistent, and the price is even better. In fact, they should probably be charging more (I've even told the manager this!) because I want them to stay in business! I usually get the chicken or pork Thai bowl, or the chicken or pork taco salad. Portions are generous for the price (usually $9) and I can usually get two meals out of one serving. The drive thru pick-up window is super convenient. Staff always seem genuinely friendly.

I remember when I first moved to Columbus, and this quirky new farm-to-table spot opened in the Short North. It was doing something different, something nobody else in the city was doing: a simple menu, whole foods, and delicious, nourishing meals. It felt like the cusp of something great about to happen to the Cbus food scene. That was circa 2004, and the restaurant was Northstar. Fast forward 10 years, and although the concept isn't as revolutionary, it's still one of my all-time faves. Acre feels like the Northstar of 2014. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Todd Mills, earlier in the summer to hear all about his farm-to-table to-go restaurant. I had the distinct displeasure of waiting months to try it. Now that I've had Acre (a few times), I can confidently say it was well worth the wait. The idea is Northstar-esque food, but much faster and a bit cheaper. But simply comparing it to NS isn't fair. Let me be clear: this is no poor man's Northstar. Acre shines in its own right. The current menu has: bowls, wraps, salads, and tacos. There are also snacks like popcorn and kale chips, and there are a variety of handmade sodas and sweet treats. Everything is house-made with ethical ingredients, and everything is a labor of love. Some of my faves are: -The Thai bowl or Thai tacos. You can choose chicken, pork, or tofu. IMO, the pork works best here. (the peanut sauce is ridic) -The mole tacos -The raspberry shrub (a handmade, colonial-era vinegary soda; trust me on this one) -The sweet corn cookie (this one's gluten-free, but more importantly--one of the best cookies I've ever eaten) Before you run to Acre, I need to give you a heads-up: It's not perfect (yet). Everyone working here is incredibly sweet, and they are so excited to be a part of such a great new concept--they just need a bit of time to work out all the kinks. If you want to get in on the newest concept in town and feel like you're with them on the cusp of something great, then go to Acre. But if you're looking for a place that is already perfect, maybe go to a Cameron Mitchell restaurant instead. (No shade thrown to CM.) As for me, you can find me at Acre, and I'll be eating a Thai taco. Here's to the next 10 years, and watching Acre revolutionize fast farm-to-table food in the capital city.

Healthy food that's really good! It's stuff that we normally eat and make at home so it's the perfect place to visit when we are too tired to cook or don't have the time. We've visited quite a few times and have tried pretty much their entire menu...the bowls and wraps are equally a delicious! Their grilled chicken tastes perfect! Their speciality drinks are wonderful. Staff is friendly. Desserts...oh so delicious cookies! Don't miss the sweet corn cookie...you will forever crave it! Prices are reasonable!

Usually a place like this isn't somewhere I'd rush to get to, but with all the great reviews coming in, I figured I'd head up that way to check it out. I found it a bit odd that the place didn't have a sign (maybe they never will) and that the front door only listed the hours for Monday, which happened to be when we went, so maybe they just throw up that days hours, who knows?! The inside was brightly lit and much different than the Graffiti Burger days that I was familiar with, but it was very warm and inviting. It took the girlfriend and I a bit to decide what we wanted, but we ultimately ended up ordering the mole wrap with pork and the BBQ and Ranch Wrap with chicken as well as a side a roasted potatoes. I told her we also had to try the shrub sodas based on Bryant's suggestion (Thanks! She loved it). It was a bit pricey, a little over $30 for two wraps and a side plus the drinks, but as long as the ingredients are of high quality, I don't mind. The food took about 10 minutes to come out, and it looked great right off the bat, but I wish they gave us more pico on the side, because that stuff was soooo good. We really liked both wraps, and I'd say the mole was the overall favorite. The roasted sweet potatoes were pretty tasty as well, especially with the BBQ sauce. We tried it with their ranch as well (both the BBQ and ranch are made in house), and it's not your ordinary ranch. In fact, if they didn't call it ranch, I don't think anyone else would have. It's more yogurt based without a very strong flavor. I was disappointed that they were out of the sweet corn cookies when I went since I had read they were pretty tasty, but that's quite all right since I was way more full than I thought I'd be. Overall, I really liked the food here, but I wouldn't say it WOWed me as much as some other people. It's a great little place to get some quality ingredients at a decent price quickly. I'll be interested in some of the other options the next time I'm there!

We accidentally happened upon Acre this week. I was stuck at home with a sick kid, with a bunch of random food in my kitchen but nothing made sense to throw together to make a real meal. I called my husband on his way home from work with a desperate plea to get pick up something to eat-- but it had to be relatively healthy and it needed to be fast because I was needing some relief from a whiney toddler. He drove past Acre on his way home from work... and boy are we glad! He ordered the mole and Thai rice bowl to go (total $19.90 for both). He was in and out in less than five minutes. The portions are great and the food was really delicious. Acre is a great "I'm in a bind with dinner but want something fresh and fast" option. We will definitely be back!

A healthy option for you and your wallet. I had the Mole Bowl and it was really good, it had a really strange flavor but in a good way. My friend had the BBQ bowl and it was great, the perfect combination of sweet and salty. And the best of all was the Corn cookies, they were amazing. I had to take 2 t go LOL

Oh my! This was crazy off the hook great!! Fresh organic food just taste better!! If I lived here i would be a regular!! Thai bowl- coconut rice- yellow cauliflower which is just gorgeous- broccoli carrots- green onions- sensational!!! One important correction- I almost didn't come because it sounded like take out only type of place- nice sit down area available. Definetly a do-again!

Acre...what to say about Acre... The food. Locally sourced and made in the same vein as Northstar - a dozen or so ingredients arranged in salad-wrap-bowl-taco combinations. Kale chips and quinoa sides on offer. Big cookies to reward yourself for eating "healthy." The food is good; I had the Thai tacos with peanut sauce and pork, paired with super-salty Shagbark chips. Their drinks appeared to be bottled and heavily sugared, so I had water. The ambience is a little warmer than the fast-food dining it replaced, and the late-lunch crowd was laid back. Definitely a place to bring the kids - a bit of room to move, not too big or too loud. The staff were nice in pointing out the menu, bussing tables, etc. However, with both Northstar Café and Whole World (among others) so close by, I wonder why the Acre folks chose this location to offer what is nearly the same menu as Northstar, albeit at a lower price point. This concept is crying out to be situated in Old Towne East, in Franklinton, or in Merion Village - places where local, fresh, organic and reasonably-priced food is hard to come by, especially for families. I sincerely hope they get the food traffic and business they need in order to expand the fresh and local fast food idea to another area which could support it.

Food is fresh, but pretty average overall - not really getting the hype. Nothing in particular is terrible, just really not that impressed with the flavorless tacos and chicken. Plus, they are unbelievably stingy with the sides. For example, you get about a handful of popcorn for their popcorn sides (costs $2.50!). And I got five and a half chips with my two tacos. It's almost insulting. Actually, I take that back, that is insulting. I do want to like this place given the lack of similar choices in the area, but I can't recommend it at all.

Acre is DELICIOUS! And it's healthy? Eh, I don't even care if it is or not because it's that good. Pro tip: order one of the bowls. Any of them will do. This last time I got the mole with chicken, and it was incredible. Very complex mole for being at a semi-fast food joint that doesn't specialize in that genre of cuisine... Pro-er tip: get one of those sweet corn cookies. It's like a crispy, chewy, reimagined bowl of captain crunch but without the roof of your mouth getting shredded.

Speeding down High Street between Clintonville and Short North, it's easy to miss this place. Invited by some friends, I enjoyed the BBQ bowl with chicken. Initially, I was afraid that it wouldn't be as fulfilling a meal but man, I was proven wrong. All the ingredients felt fresh like it had just arrived from the farm. You don't get that tired feeling after a heavy meal but instead rejuvenated like an energy boost. Plus, the Honest selection of beverages completed the meal. Atmosphere: No TV and maybe a dozen tables create a cozy atmosphere that simply saids "local".

It's essentially the same concept as Northstar and Northstar is way better. It's a good concept, but everything turned out a little more blah than I would hope for. And for literally maybe $5 less than Northstar. Not worth it. Biggest hit was sweet corn cookie, but upon taking second bit found long black hair baked into cookie. Doubt I'll go back.

When I've driven past this place in the past I thought it was a more upscale restaurant where you are waited on. That didn't really deter me but when I found it was more fast casual I gave it a try. Basically you order at the counter and they call your number. They have wraps, bowls, tacos and salads. I had the Thai bowl which seems to be a favorite on here. As the name implies it's fresh and local which makes me a big fan. The prices were fair and the portion was good. I did want to try the Kale Chips but they no longer have them. Over all good stuff.

Um no. I was super pumped to try this place after so, so many people have raved about it. The inside is adorable. Very modern. I ordered the spring bowl to go. It contained mushrooms, asparagus, brown rice, and lemon Caesar dressing. Also ordered a side of the avocado cream. Upon arriving home, I was greeted with some over cooked mushrooms, limp asparagus, and dry brown rice. The avocado cream and Caesar dressing were mediocre at best. I've heard a lot of commenters compare Acre to North Star and I personally beg to differ. North Star makes unassuming veggies vibrantly bright. Here, veggies come to die a slow, overcooked death. I know I may be being harsh based on just one review, so I will try to go back and try something else. But, I won't be rushing back.

I finally had the chance to try this place on Saturday, and I'm so glad I did! I got a to-go order of the Thai wrap, and also one of the ginger shrub sodas. The wrap was HUGE - like almost the size of a chipotle burrito, with chicken, veggies, and rice. I think the wrap could have used more of the delicious peanut sauce, but I'm also a big fan of condiments. It didn't come with very many chips, but I was excited to see that they are from local producer Shagbark! The little cup of pico de gallo that it came with was fresh, but needed something - maybe some lime juice or salt or something to jazz it up a bit. The ginger soda was so refreshing, and had a real spicy ginger taste! I like the clean and airy feel of the dining area, and the fact that you can see into the kitchen where your food is being prepared. All of the employees seemed smiley and happy, and had cute little bandannas instead of ugly hairnets. At first, I thought that $8.75 was a little steep for a wrap, but upon receiving mine it was a lot of food. AND, quality food. Since they use Bell & Evans chicken, and many other local and sustainably-sourced ingredients, this price is more than fair. I also liked that they have multiple flavor profiles that you can have as a bowl, a wrap, a salad, or as tacos. As someone who likes choices but can get overwhelmed with too many options, I appreciated this. I can't wait to go back!

Farm to the Table; great food concept and well executed. Nice corner location so they have lots of parking, in an area where that helps. Place is bright and a big change from the previous burger joint. I think Talita's was located here for about ten minutes. We had an array of tacos and a burrito. The tacos were especially inventive and delicious. The burrito; well it was a burrito. The insides were very fresh so that pushed it above average. We had some ginger soda concoction and it was outstanding. I'd come back just for tacos and that drink. Taco prices were 3/$8, a bit on the high side, but I was ok with it. We're big fans of the concept and the execution. Can you BYOB?

I meant to update my review the last time I went (Mole Wrap) and my kids were in the back eating their ($3.50!!!!) kids meals going "mmmMMMMMmmm". But I forgot and now I'm back with my updated review. I said in my last review that I was unimpressed with the kids quesadillas, so I've been getting them the chickens skewers instead. Once you take them off the skwer they are essentially grilled chicken nuggets with the sauce of your choice. Win in our house. I had a bowl last time and I think dining in I would stick with bowl, but on the go, I'm digging the wraps. I asked for extra pickled cabbage and extra mole on my wrap last time and it was DELICIOUS although I think the cabbage needed to pickle just a BIT longer. This time I had the kale caesar wrap and my husband had the BBQ Ranch wrap. Both were great. I think I would still probably ask for more sauce, but this is definitely going to be a regular staple in our house now that they have the to-go window. Also, I have to get the cookies everytime....

I waited to come here in hopes all of the kinks would be worked out. I was here just before they started their 7-day open schedule. I wanted to try the kale chips but they were sold out at 7pm. The layout is similar to the former Graffiti Burger but so much nicer-looking with a calming and pleasant atmosphere. Everyone behind the counter was nice. I tasted the soda which was a little more puckery than I would've liked. The sweet and salty popcorn was delicious. The chicken Thai bowl was delicious. I enjoyed the curried cauliflower and wished there was more. The Baja tacos are a solid choice especially for anyone who isn't sure of what to order.

This place met all my expectations and more! It's a great place to come if you're looking for a quick yet healthy meal, and the prices are reasonable too. I had the Thai bowl with chicken, and it features coconut brown rice, carrots, broccoli, curried cauliflower, and a Bangkok peanut sauce. You can also substitute the brown rice for quinoa for a little extra charge if you're about that life. There are also a number of wraps to choose from which are similar to the bowls, but instead come in a flour tortilla. A couple of the salads and tacos look tasty, as well as the sides and sweets, so I definitely plan on going back to try those! I also had the mango-pineapple smoothie, which was made with yogurt and orange juice, and it tasted very fresh. There's even a kids menu with healthy options as well, so this place is perfect for the whole family!

If Northstar and Chipotle had a baby, this would be it. Similar in concept to Chipotle: carb/salad + protein + toppings= lunch. Though you don't get paraded through a line, they put it together for you. Northstarish in its fresh ingredients, beautiful food presentation, similar dining vibe, attentive and upbeat staff (mostly ladies at the Acre), and that you pay too much.

Fresh, fast-casual As an avid enthusiast for healthy dining options, I couldn't wait to try Acre. Acre combines two trendy concepts: farm-to-table and fast-casual dining. A glance at their menu shows a variety of fresh options: bowls, wraps, salads. Every item can be customized to be vegetarian-friendly with tofu. I ordered the BBQ bowl with tofu. It was extremely filling and flavorful. I also got a side of the curried cauliflower with peanut sauce. DELICIOUS! I love the merging of sweet and spicy. I ordered to-go this time. However, dining in looks like an appealing option. The interior is very quaint - especially considering it was previously a fast-food restaurant location. They also have made-to-order sodas with seasonal fruit flavors. Oh, and their cookies look amazing too, but I resisted this time. Next time...

I've wanted to try Acre since I've read all the reviews and finally stopped in for a lunch takeout on Saturday. After browsing the menu, I ordered the Thai Bowl with Tofu, and a Sweet Corn Cookie. The guy at the register was super friendly and within minutes, I left with my brown paper bag. I chowed down later, and I absolutely loved my meal. The rice, veggies, and tofu were perfectly cooked with the peanut sauce. Actually, next time, I may ask for a tad more sauce. The Sweet Corn Cookie was amazing. I would get the same thing again. I'll be back for sure. The dining room is cute and clean. They have an interesting drink selection, too.

thai tofu wrap (1star)- quite bland, I didn't taste peanut sauce or salt. I wanted to try the coconut rice. It was so disappointing. Too mushy and unflavored. Too much rice. Taco (3star) - I got two tacos. One was food, one was not good Smoothies. - I got to try all three varieties. Almond banana was my favorite. The others were bland. Corn cookie (5stars) love it !! I prefer Northstar cafe.

We went to Acre the week that it opened. They were clearly working out a few kinks, and we had to wait a while for our food, but that's to be expected as a restaurant is finding their sea legs. The atmosphere is very casual, which I don't think is a bad thing. It is still very clean, open, and tastefully decorated. The menu is fresh, diverse, and appealing to a wide variety of palates. Many things on the menu can be made vegan (with the exception of a few sauces and the cookies, which contain dairy). My husband and I got a starter of kale chips which were salty and crisp, just as they should be. He got an assortment of tacos and I got the Thai bowl and we were both really pleased with our dishes. The Thai bowl had beautifully fresh veggies, chicken, and a spicy peanut sauce. The tacos were saucy and crisp in all the right ways. The food was so good that my husband and I basically stopped talking until we were done eating. We finished with a sweet corn cookie (just to try it) and found it delightfully airy and with the perfect amount of sweetness. I plan on returning to Acre both because there are many menu items left to try and because I anticipate their menu turning over a lot, so I'm eager to see what they do. I really enjoy this new addition to the Clintonville area.

So this was worth the wait! It seemed like Acre was "coming soon" for most of this year, but "soon" is finally here, and they're worth taking the time to visit. The building they're located in has been a Mexican Restaurant, a burger joint, a White Castle, and, if I remember right, a KFC. Despite that, the Acre team has managed to give the building a surprisingly fresh feel inside, with lots of neat glass decorations, books lining the walls, and a very open dining area that makes the whole space feel larger than it really is. Orders are made at the counter (though I believe a drive-thru is in the works), you get a card for your table, and they'll bring things out to you as soon as it has been prepared. Pick a protein, pick a style of presentation (BBQ, Thai inspired, Mexican, etx), and the way things will be delivered (tacos, salads, bowls, burritos!), and you're off! There are several side options - the standards are simple (but tasty) Shagbark chips and salsa, but you can go for several kinds of popcorn, roasted sweet potatoes, curried cauliflower (OMG!) or kale chips instead. There's also a nice selection of hand crafted drinks, or you can just get something simple from the fountain. When I went, there were a few kinks with the service still being hammered out, and I noticed that ordering a couple of different proteins in the taco plate, for example, seemed to throw them for a bit of a loop, but these are all things that I am sure will smooth out as they grow into the space and get more comfortable with day to day operations. If you haven't checked them out, I strongly suggest you make the time - these guys are doing something really wonderful, and you won't be disappointed.

Charlie and I went to the soft opening of Acre, and what a WONDERFUL idea for that space! Take this review for what it is considering it was a soft opening, and I will post another review soon. Charlie and I ordered the following: Kale and Quinoa Salad This was "healthy" tasting, but not very exciting. Great ingredients though, but I think it's missing a few things. Caesar Salad Wrap Very healthy tasting, delicious, and the dressing, though not traditional for a Caesar, was INCREDIBLE! I got a side to add and indulged. Vegetarian Mole Bowl This was amazing! Totally delish, huge chunks of tofu and Chanterelle mushrooms, a total home run! Chocolate Chip Cookie and Ginger Cookie Chocolate cookie was really solid with a slight ginger undertone. The ginger cookie...BEST EVER! Homemade Ginger Tonic Also nice and refreshing Also of note, I really enjoyed the decor and vibe. The tables were beautiful, locally crafted. My only wish is that it wasn't so white, it would be nice to see more warm colors. The presentation of the food, the silverware, plate ware, all really thoughtfully presented. The food looked like it came from love, as cheesy as that sounds. Verdict: This is a total gem! It is what I have always wanted Northstar to be (but sadly isn't). I always get the feeling that Northstar is run by some NeoCon restaurant think tank in New Albany, trying to cash in on Clintonville/Short North do-gooding greenies. Acre, ON THE OTHER HAND, feels like it's run by people with skin in the game. Similar in a lot of ways to Heirloom both in quality and concept. First, it's pretty affordable considering the quality. Second, a truly healthy restaurant that has conceptual integrity. I think Acre really pushes the local food conversation forward, and does it in a way that feels accessible. Congrats on this! Bravo! ~ Keida Mascaro

Fast and friendly service, healthy food, and nice atmosphere. I would recommend a side of extra sauce for the Thai Burrito because it falls to the bottom. The tacos were delicious.

I have half the menu left to go before I have had roughly everything but I feel the rest will be as good as what I've had so far. For 12$ you walk out pleasantly pleased for sure. The Tacos are not bad.. interesting combos that give you a range of flavours. The Thai bowl was delicious, added some hot sauce and was in heaven. I like the locally sourced idea and seasonal veggies that make up the menu. I will note that nothing I have had to date is really spicy but that is fine, I can always add the spice level of my liking. The atmosphere is that of a Chipotle but with a touch more of a personal feel that you get from local place. I also enjoy the fact they have nice sit down style eating or take away. I must also note the chips they have are some of the best I've ever had. I also enjoy how hearty they are and do no break if you decide to eat them with your bowl rather than using a fork or spoon.

Staying here from Vermont- I always try and eat local when I travel. This was a sight for sore eyes given all the fast food chains. Loved the food and service! I had a seasonal dish and asked the waitress to bring me her favorite tacos which didn't disappoint!

Acre really surprised me - it was great! Everything was fresh and tasty! Usually I'm hesitant to order chicken at restaurants, but I got the Thai bowl with half chicken and half tofu. The chicken was so fresh and grilled to perfection! The drinks are awesome and the cookies are a perfect sweet treat!

This review is exclusively dedicated for the mole bowl with chicken entree. It was freakin delicous, I was surprised to taste something so good yet so healthy. First, I was debating between the peking or the mole, but the avocado cream caught my attention and I did not regret it at all. Nice combination of heat and a flavor that I can't quite put my finger on it. It was so homey in my mouth and it tasted pretty complicated. Or, just like what all judges said in every cooking competition, "it has the right balance". And I think it really did. Definitely my new favorite, and so glad to have another healthy alternative beside Northstar, and a cheaper one too, or a break from the MSG overload yet delicious Lucky Dragon next door. Note: my friend was pretty crazy too for their kale chips, so that's next on my list.

Tasty, healthy, speedy. Usain Bolt? No - Acre! A great place for a flavourful meal with friends, the only letdown was the fervour with which they used the air conditioning.

Fast, healthy, good vegan options. A little expensive, but the food is great quality so it's worth it.

Ordered thai bowl with pork, BBQ chicken wrap, moo shu pork bowl, tikka bowl, edamame, corn cookie, and a shrub. Pros: food was cheap (but nothing's free), the cookie was delicious....but it's a cookie, and the BBQ chicken burrito really tasted good. The sauce and the chicken were yummy together (although it was cold....). Cons: none of our food that was supposed to be hot was. None of it. Pork in thai bowl was a bad flavor combo (recommended by the cashier) and was dry and powdery. Hoisin in moo shu bowl was over reduced and tasted and looked like tar. Chicken in tikka bowl was charred and burnt. Edamame hummus was ok, but tasted more like horseradish dip than hummus, which is fine I guess. Finally, the shrub was too sweet, and the vinegar flavor was overwhelming - not as subtle as the shrubs I've enjoyed at other restaurants. Also, let's talk about the design. The first thing you see when you walk in is the overflowing trash and tray bussing area. When you do go to dispose of your food: good luck! It'll take you five minutes to read all the labels and there's nowhere to actually set your tray while you're trying to abide all their waste rules. The lighting is HORRIBLE, garish, unwelcoming and uncomfortable. I and all my dining companions were really disappointed by our meals and would never go back.

Who knew that burritos and tacos could be such incredible hipster food?! Who knew that you could replace beans and steak for tofu and vegetables? Who knew that a burrito didn't have to be Mexican but Thai? Who knew that you could put sweet corn in your cookie? Who knew that you could put Mole sauce on you taco? Who knew that you could make your own sodas instead of having a traditional soda fountain? Ok, so it's not that hard to believe, but wow what a place!

Acre, I'm just not that in to you. You're convenient, well-priced, and healthy but kind of boring. For entree selections, there are limited flavor profiles on the menu (mole, moo shu, bbq etc.). You pick a protein (pork & quinoa are an up charge.) Then you choose the vehicle in which they enter your mouth (taco, wrap, bowl). I've been twice now because I thought I was missing something. On my second visit, I discovered the corn cookie. The cookie was sweet & salty--yummy!--and did not make me give up complete hope on you! But honestly, for a unique, farm-to-table concept the flavor is bland and lacking. I will keep trying you. Underwhelmed. Fingers-crossed that as summer approaches offerings will ramp up. I want to love you so hard.

Short of it: Fresh, healthy, tasty food that isn't over-sauced or salted too much. Long of it: Went there for the first time today and got the thai bowl (added mango slaw that comes with the thai wrap) and a BBQ wrap. Both were amazing. Not salty, perfectly seasoned to be able to taste the actual food. I've been looking for a place that I can grab a healthy, delicious meal for under $10. This is my new spot.

Acre is the place to go when you are looking for healthy food that is inexpensive and fast. They have a very convenient pick up window for call ahead orders that only takes about 10 minutes to be ready depending on the size of your order. So that's a huge plus for this place. Their grains are organic, meats are free range and they also have a plethora of local products and produce that they display on a chalk board for the customers to see which is pretty darn cool. All of their sauces and dressings are made fresh IN HOUSE. I was blown away when I found this out. They are also very militant about recycling in front and back of the house, plus composting everything, no scraps left behind what so ever. Even the left over food that you leave is scraped into a bucket and composted. How cool is that!!! The food is what you would expect for healthy options. Nothing is drenched in sodium and over flavored for the unhealthy palate. You never walk away from a meal feeling bloated and lethargic, yet you get huge portions. That's what I'm talking about! I have really bad digestion issues and this place makes my tummy feel great. So my hat is off to them for this. They have different options of wraps, bowls, tacos and salads. Also a pretty cool little kids menu. The sauces are nothing short of amazing. The mole' is to die for! Also their peanut sauce is very addictive. They make this mango pickled cabbage for the Thai tacos and IT-IS-DELICIOUS. They have options of chicken, pork, tofu, mushrooms or extra veggies for anyone who is vegetarian or vegan. The bowls and tacos are ideal for anyone who is gluten free. They have local corn tortillas from Shagbark that are gmo free and they are superior. Also concerning Shagbark, they have popcorn and tortilla chips that are also gmo free! No wonder my tummy loves this place. Don't expect to come here and it not be crowded. This place packs a full house during lunch and dinner hours. So try to get there a little earlier if you want to dine in. I love the staff here. Everyone is down to earth, extremely nice and beyond helpful if it's your first time visiting. I would expect to see more Acre locations popping up in the future. This place already has a small cult following by those who know what healthy food should taste like and that is saying something. So, Acre...YOU ARE AWESOME. I APPLAUD AND THANK YOU!!!

I have been meaning to come here since they opened after hearing good things about it and I've also had the owners food when he ran a pop up at the Hills Market. I finally got around to trying it and was really impressed with the inside of the building. It's clean, bright, and very modern looking. Now onto the food. I ordered my food to-go since I have to get back to work but I only waited about 10 minutes for it to be ready which is a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the BBQ Ranch Wrap with the tortilla chips. They put my food in a cute brown paper bag which I liked. However they just put the chips in the bottom of the bag with the wrap on top and when I got back to my office to eat a lot of the chips had broken. I was very surprised to see that my wrap was more like a burrito there was so much in there. It was a lot of food for the price but I thought it lacked a little flavor and my chicken was a tad burnt. Since this was only my first visit I would try it again but most likely won't be back anytime soon. I know they have only been open for a few months so there's only room to improve. I think I would try a bowl next time instead of wrap.

If you want to convince your friends that healthy food is bland and overpriced, take them here! My main complaint with the food was a lack of flavor. The peanut sauce on the Thai items was very bland and hardly noticeable at all. A little spice would help. The BBQ sauce tasted like fancy ketchup and lacked any smokey flavor you would expect. The wraps are on plain white tortillas, which are nothing special. The tofu just seemed to be heated up... no marinade, no baking, no frying, no grilling... awful. Portion sizes were so-so. The wraps are filling, but the bowls are a little sparse. It would be nice to have more options for sides than just a small handful of chips. Service was very slow. The restaurant did not have enough chairs in the dining area. It had been open for an hour when we came in and the floor was a mess. It was noisey so the atmosphere wasn't great, and we could barely hear the guy calling out order numbers because he didn't have a microphone or anything. I hope this place gets better, but for now, expect a KFC experience at Northstar prices. I suspect Acre will do well because there are so many hipsters in Clintonville, but I would skip it.

Tried this place for the first time tonight after hearing rave reviews. I had the BBQ chicken wrap and my wife had the Thai bowl -- both were exceptional. Fresh ingredients and perfect portions. We also had a cornbread cookie and it was the best thing I've probably ever put in my mouth. I felt compelled to drive back and give everyone in there a high five. Well done, Acre. Highly recommend.

Acre was worse than I could have expected. I new it was going to be some healthy natural place to i was skeptical. I live in the neighborhood and was anxious to try it though. I like healthy food but i hate being ripped off. I ordered the thai bowl to go. It was so crowded with stupid ass yuppies there was no way i could eat there. Also the walls are all white. The decor is very basic and boring which I suppose is how these stupid jerks want the place. As if to say eat and get the fuck out! I waited 20 minutes for my food. It came in a tiny to go container. I was not pleased. I took it home though to give it a try. The food wasn't even hot. It was a tiny scoop of brown rice. 2 pieces of carrots, 2 pieces of broccoli and one tiny one inch cube of chicken. They had ripped me off! They had wasted my time and money. I took it back for a refund and it took them 20 minutes to refund me my money. Then they acted like I had a problem because I didn't like waiting 20 min for food and 20 min for a refund. Place is a rip off of north star cafe which is another yuppie establishment w shitty over priced food. I looked around and i was in disgust with their uptight white yuppie customers. So happy to pay for over priced food. Looks like Acre doesn't employ minorities either. I just saw a bunch a uptight white bitches working. FUCK ACRE. You people will take anything handed to you. You love mediocrity. You love fake places with fake philosophies with fake ass white people handing you your food. America is soulless and you can see it everywhere. In the food, the music, TV. It is all bad for ya. Every man for himself. Save your money eat anywhere else. So sad Clintonville only has fast food and yuppie establishments. I guess that is the new america though. master and servant class. Thank You ACRE for inspiring me to move out of Columbus Ohio again. I won't stay and watch the yuppies take over Clintonville.

AMAZING. My husband and I were just talking about how there needed to be a healthy fast food option in columbus.. Voila, Acre. It's very similar to northstar, which we love, but cheaper and much simpler. After ordering, the owner gave everyone popcorn while they waited for their food.. Thy still have some kinks to work out in terms of speed but the free popcorn more than made up for it. The popcorn, our meals, and the ginger cookie for desert were all amazing. Their attention to simplicity and wholesome goodness is very appreciated. We will definitely be back!

I had an excellent lunch at Acre. It being my first time there I was tentative walking in, scoping out where to order and how the menu was set up. The cashier made the first move and welcomed me and explained how it works and recommended her favorites. Friendly, welcoming staff is always a plus! I ordered a chicken baja taco, a chicken caesar taco, and a mushroom mooshu taco. It came with a small side of chips and salsa and I also ordered a sweet corn cookie and a Pom-ginger soda. It was all delicious! The only downside I would give is the mooshu was soooo salty, I was glad I ate that one first, that sauce was saltily intense! The baja and the Caesar were both delicious and the cookie lived up to its rave reviews. It was huge as well! The real star of the meal for me was the Pom-ginger soda. I do not like sweet drinks and this was tart, refreshing, and thirst quenching. I would have ordered one to go however here we run into the second con of this restaurant....I had just paid almost $17 for three small tacos, a cookie, and a drink, including a tip. I could not force myself to make it an even $20 with a to-go drink. It's not that I'm opposed to paying higher prices for fresher, more locally sourced food, but for those prices I should be sat and served, especially considering the credit receipt when you pay specifically has a line for a tip. What am I being asked to tip for if I am picking up my own food and bussing my own table? Knowing how the process works now I would not tip next time, the food prices are high enough and it is self service enough that I feel no social guilt over this.

I had been to Acre one other time and thought the food was alright, but my last visit was very disappointing. I went up to the drive thru window and the employees were nice enough to let me order there even though it is meant for picking up phone orders. My sister and I ordered two mango-pineapple smoothies and although the the flavor was very tasty, there were big chunks of blue plastic in each of our smoothies! One piece was the size of a nickel! It was gross and could have been dangerous if we hadn't noticed sooner. We also ordered a wrap, which came with chips and salsa, and a bowl. Both were alright, but the Shagbark chips served with the salsa were very stale and tasted like cardboard. The restaurant I work at serves the same chips (which I love!!) and they never taste like that. I expected that a farm-to-table restaurant would be more cautious with what they serve, but I was wrong. I won't be returning.

This place is great! Run, don't walk and get dinner/lunch from here. Food is so fresh and healthy. We love the thai bowl but the menu has something for everyone. I like that they post where their food is coming from--truly a farm to table. The serving staff outfits, now those are a little silly, as is the pretension about the iced tea.

On my first visit I was uncertain and took the suggestion of the person at the register. I got a mini bowl Thai Chicken. Simply delicious with curry cauliflower. And two tacos (to diversify my experience) one my shu pork and the other mole. Very fresh and flavorful. I will be coming back.

This is a rating primarily based on the dine in experience around lunchtime. It was busy but the food came out in a timely manner. My major gripe is with the seating. There is a dearth of seating. And to top it off you have customers that walk in, steal a seat FIRST, and THEN go and order some food. This, frankly, is backwards and rude. My girlfriend asked me if we should steal a seat before we order and I said to her "No, that seems like a dick move," I should have just took her advice. This is an issue that needs to be addressed by the staff, at least get someone to do some traffic control during the busy hours. I'm not going again anytime soon because I'm afraid that I'll have my food come out, and then have no place to sit and eat again. Food was a okay, somewhat bland really. Pop was great.

In the past that corner was a synonym of junk and bad food. However I decided to try again this new restaurant and I found something different. Acre restaurant is very nice, good ambient, excellent music and delicious food. I recommend the coconut rice. It's awesome. Also try the soda drinks, a great company for your food. My only suggestion is that the refill option exists for your drinks.

I am a big supporter of restaurants that try and crank out delicious, healthful meals, so I really wanted to love Acre. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. I had the peking bowl, my boyfriend had the mole wrap, and we shared a side of curried cauliflower. The cauliflower was tasty, but it was all of 6 bites, which felt like a bit of a rip off at $4. The other items are very reasonably priced and good bang for your buck, however. The ingredients are definitely quite fresh, but the dishes just weren't balanced. the peking bowl, for instance, was basically a base of rice topped with unseasoned vegetables and tofu, and then drenched in hoisin sauce. I could have very easily made the dish at home given the simplicity of it all. The mole wrap tastier, but again it just felt like an easy formula - some vegetables and meat wrapped up and drenched in a sauce I could find at a local market. When I eat out I like to get something I can't easily make for myself at home, otherwise what's the point? I liked Acre's idea, but the execution left me wanting more. Do something nice with your veggies - I mean, just give them some seasoning even! - and I'd bump it up a star.

  • Chris M.

Very tasty food that's also very healthy, at a very good price. I have found the people working here to be extremely friendly and warm. Highly recommended!

  • Stephen K.

My food wasn't great. Maybe a mole sauce is supposed to taste like that, but I didn't particularly enjoy it. The portions were small for the price. Overall, it was just ok.

  • Laura B.

We thought the food was very bland, especially considering the fact that everyone keeps comparing it to northstar, which is delicious. The veggies were over cooked, the brown sauce tastes store bought, the meat was just ok. I'm hoping they improve.

Acre rocks.

I got the Peking bowl and I was very disappointed. It was so salty to a point I had to pour water into my bowl to mellow it out. I had such high hopes for this place since everyone kept comparing it to Northstar. I will probably come back one more time to give it another chance.

Took the family for a quick lunch after Match Day. The food was excellent and the service was quick. Staff was friendly too. I had the Quinoa Tabouli with chicken.

Started with two Caesar tacos: one chicken and one mushroom. Both so flavorful. Went back and ordered another chicken Caesar taco. So delicious I did not want to get full!

This was a great experience. I would never have know this was their opening day. Great decor and vibe to the place, friendly service, food fresh and delightful.

Fast-casual restaurant food was great! Had the BBQ bowl with chicken, the sweet potatoes were cooked perfectly and the sauce were paired perfectly! Will definitely go back!
