It's tasty yogurt. Period. Their chocolate yogurt is the best I have ever put in my mouth. I regret not getting it myself, but stole some of my son's. I had original tart. Wish they had more toppings that were targeted towards the flavors they have. The toppings seemed sort of random in relation to the froyo flavors. Love the look inside - they even have a few board games if you eat in....and a patio out front!

Outstanding. Always friendly and inviting. And awesome flavors. Carolyn is always helpful and I love that she's expanded the menu. Really creative combinations and flavors. Big fan here.

It had been a very long time since I'd been in 39 Below. Today is a great surprise visit. The menu is much more diverse, interesting and should bring folks in for meals and yogurt treats. Today I had a Shake...Marshmallow Yogurt Peanut Butter an enjoyable post-lunch dessert. Carolyn made me feel valued. This is very different from an older attitude....thanks for the treat!

Fiance and I were craving frozen yogurt. Our go to is OrangeLeaf in Columbus (RedMango or PinkBerry or YogurtLand in our native California... we like frozen yogurt) but we had the day off and were feeling adventurous. We had walked by for the Moonlight Market but it was freezing so we didn't indulge. However this time we went in the early afternoon. Parking was easy enough for us because someone pulled out as we drove down Gay Street. They even left 30 minutes in the meter. Seeing as how there were no other spots I could see how it gets frustrating to park. The Yogurt: Good. Not great but good. I tried chocolate and cake batter. I sampled the mint and it was really good, but very strong and I knew if I put it in my cup everything would taste like mint and I wasn't in the mood for that. The Toppings: Meh. Not very exciting. A small open bar that was a few berries and lots of crushed up other foods (cookies, graham crackers, full reeses). I like how OrangeLeaf does mini-foods because then it actually gets in your ice cream. Putting a full cookie or graham cracker in my yogurt just has me eating cold cookies and graham crackers. Also, they had toppings in white containers but many were out (basics like sprinkles and chocolate chips) They were also out of hot fudge and hot caramel. The woman said they were out of these but it was only 3. I hope they don't run out of food this early. The Price: 49 cents an ounce. Consistent with everywhere else in Columbus. So, in summary, 3 stars. I would go back if I was in the area, but I won't make the trip.

39 Below has stepped it up! The last time I was here, I was underwhelmed. The yogurt was melty, the staff were non-existent, and the hours and phone number weren't updated. I may have been a bit harsh in my original review, but when you see the other froyo shops in town closing -- it's a reason for concern. I don't want to see 39 Below close -- I love having a yogurt shop so close to me! Well fast forward to today, and there were many noticed improvements. The lady working was upbeat and helpful -- welcoming in the line of guests. Everybody else must have noticed the improvements too because the store was crowded tonight! The lady was quick to point out that she had just run out of a particular flavor. I wasn't interested in it, but I appreciated her helpfulness. I stuck with original tart, but unlike last time -- this time it was delicious! I also noticed a fully-stocked toppings bar, with crazy delicious things like oatmeal cream pies, candy bars, sauces, and fresh fruit. I stuck with fruit, but I think anybody would be happy with their options. The shop was bustling, the yogurt was good, the staff was friendly, and all their hours were updated. Literally every complaint I had was reconciled. Way to go, 39 Below!

A month or two ago, I purchased a Groupon for 39 Below FroYo. Since it was expiring soon, I decided to check this place out. There was one woman working and she was extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered the Club Breakfast Sandwich and the French Toast. Both were really good and worth the menu price. All of the menu items are reasonable; you can get a sandwich for $4.50. While waiting, the frozen yogurt caught my eye, so I had to have some at $0.49/oz. I was very pleased with the experience and will definitely visit again.

Came in for frozen yogurt. I had been craving it for weeks. Had this place bookmarked for some time. The frozen yogurt was just okay. The mint was my favorite of the flavors. They were out of several toppings including basics like sprinkles, chocolate chips, Oreos. A customer behind me made a comment about how thick and clumpy the hot fudge was. The cashier commented that it was what was left for the day. If any food items aren't presentable they should be removed from the serving line. Will come back to try their breakfast. I've heard good things.

Solid froyo. I stick with chocolate or peanut butter because I tried a fruit flavor once and wasn't wowed. The toppings are good, the cut fruit is fresh. The woman who is usually working is really friendly. She always asks how my day has been and it sounds like she is actually curious. It has always been clean inside. I have noticed it has been busier which makes me happy. Haven't tried the grilled cheese but I'm curious.

Honestly, not bad for frozen yogurt. It's not the BESTEST FROYO EVER but it's definitely serviceable. +1 star for being a cute shop on Gay Street.

Neat little place - though they specialize in Froyo, it reminds you of "Central Perk" and your local coffee shops of yesteryear. I tried a raspberry pomegranate Froyo and it was KILLER - a tad tart so I wouldn't eat too much of it, but SO tasty! I'm only a block away, so this is a walking-distance treat I plan to allow myself as often as possible. Goodbye diet!

Love this place! They rotate flavors so there's always something new to try! My favorite was the nutella frozen yogurt. They also have pumpkin spice foyo in the fall. Staff is very friendly and helpful The only negative is parking can be tricky downtown.

Love this local beauty. Try the grilled cheese sandwich for lunch too. This place seems fairly new. Owner operates it. She is great. Place is creating a breakfast and lunch menu. I had a great lunch!

Our favorite place to get frozen yogurt in Columbus. We love that there is always a sorbet or fruit flavor. Plus it is cheaper than other places not to mention locally owned. We visit almost weekly, and have always been treated wonderfully by the owner and her staff. Two thumbs up.

Simple, but really good. Local owner, small business. I thought was pretty outstanding relative to the price and location as well

I went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning while in town for the weekend and dang was it delicious! The stuffed french toast was great and my boyfriend would not stop raving about his pesto egg sandwich. A really affordable option as well, considering the only other places open downtown for breakfast were lounges. Whoever was there (the owner I assume) was super friendly, made everything quickly, and helped us orient ourselves to the area and even chatted with us a bit about the city. A great experience overall!

Let me preface this review by noting that I am NOT an ice cream / fro yo / anything-frozen-&-creamy fan. That said, I came upon this quaint establishment one Saturday afternoon when I had some time to kill on Gay Street. (Confession: I was hunting down a place that offered free WiFi and this was about it on that block) Although I primarily had WiFi/work time in my sights, I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a storefront. It sells self-serve fro yo, complete with a robust toppings bar. You pay by the pound. Super simple, right? While the quality of the fro yo is no Jeni's, I appreciate the straightforward concept and experience. The decor features pieces from local artists. There's ample indoor and street seating. And did I mention there's WiFi? Can't wait to go back in the Spring/Summer!

Cute, quaint little place. Very friendly. Delicious yogurt. I've been to other froyo places that have had more choices for toppings, but this place had all I would have wanted/needed and was cheaper than those other places.... I'll be back!

  • Eileen T.

I love that the froyo tasted rich...almost like ice cream. I'm not a fan of tart flavors. I got cake batter (which usually sucks at froyo places I've been elsewhere) and chocolate. I liked that it was completely self-service, and that there was no limit on how much you could try. They also have tons of toppings including brownies from the nearby Sugardaddy's. I was disappointed in the selection though. There was only one fruit flavor...a total of 6 flavors I believe...so not much selection there. It's also such a cute store. My friend and I wanted to sit inside, but it seemed like the female working there and her friends were taking up the sofa with their stuff...so that was a little disappointing.

Good stuff in a great downtown location. As a downtown local, I couldn't be happier about their extended evening hours. If they keep it up, this may be a favorite after dinner stop. A familar format (fro yo for $/oz) but the bonus is lots of interesting flavors, bonus info about the selections, and friendly staff.

I have gone to plenty of frozen yogurt places in my day (they are popping up like dandelions in Cbus), this one stands out because of its location. I work downtown so when that 3 p.m. wall hits you it is smart to go our for a walk and maybe a pick-me-up snack. Options are limited to coffee drinks down here, so I was super excited when 39 below announced this location. The toppings and flavors are about the same as most places, and so are the prices. So if you are downtown for business or for fun, I suggest a nice, somewhat healthy snack here. (And I highly recommend covering whatever yogurt you get with yogurt chips... yummmm!)

  • Apolinaras S.

Can we PLEASE get more flavors. Most froyo places I go to with my fam have 10+ flavors. We found only 6 here. Saturday is a really slow day for them, so we got to enjoy our treats in an empty shop.

I absolutely LOVE this establishment and it's amazing owner! I work right around the corner and it is a perfect getaway from a long afternoon at the office. The flavors never disappoint and the hospitality is AWESOME. They are even serving breakfast now! Once, I convinced my office to have our staff meeting there. We let Carolyn, the owner, know what time we would be there. We walked in to see a meeting spot dedicated just to us! Not too many people go over and above for their customers and Carolyn does that EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I can't say enough about 39 Below! I've recommended this place to everyone I know and will continue to do so!

There's FroYo downtown!!!! WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I stopped into the recently opened 39 Below this afternoon after lunch and I was really impressed. I'm an original tart lover and they did not disappoint. The toppings were fresh, tasty and plentiful and there were plenty of other flavors besides tart that sounded yummy but I always stick to the tart. I like to pretend I'm eating healthy that way. Just ignore those mini chocolate chips in there... look I have fruit bits too!! The owner Carolyn is great. She encourages suggestions and is really friendly. I can't wait to stop in again.

So, I'm super stoked for downtwon frozen yogurt. Catch is, that I better plan on walking there and back because I tend to go over board on the toppings. I'll toss a few fruits on there and then quickly smother them in Reese Cups, so what? The whole vibe is very friendly and open and the staff is all smiles (and not in the shaming, you're eating all that? way) The prices are pretty on par with other frozen yogurt places around town and you can try all of the flavors before you commit.

I love that this place opened downtown since it's close to my work. The idea is great, and the yogurt & toppings are delish; the only negative is that it can get pricey if you get a lot since it's priced by weight. A good addition to Gay St.

    (4)
  • Lori K.

Tons of options for yogurt and toppings, I am sorry to say I prefer them to do it for me and have set prices, rather than go by weight, and that is how it is here. They show you what do to when you walk in. I got a tiny dollop of vanilla with rasberries, it cost $2.57. It could get expensive if I had gotten even a small. But it was pretty good. I wish they had one of these in Detroit. Bottom line.

I love this place! The best froyo in Columbus. They gave energy to downtown. You can taste all kind of froyo in tester cup and add fruit, dressing and candy... They ve gluten free yogurt also. You should try here!:)

39 below is doing it right. I came in today with a friend during the pearl alley farmers market, to try is new place out. We were greeted when we came in and promptly the owner came out to talk with us, which I appreciated. I probably haven't had froyo since hair scrunchies were in, but now price by weight places are really taking off. I ended up getting chocolate with a bunch of nonsense on it for 3.74. And by nonsense I mean chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate chips, bobas, and chocolate chip cookie dough. I like that the toppings are by the register so the staff can make sure no one is using their filthy hands to serve themselves instead of the spoons. The staffer who helped us was chatty and pleasant and also helpful. I mentioned that my birthday was Sunday and they gave me a punch card for a free yogurt on that day... How awesome is that?

YUMMY! I stopped by this place to get dessert & I felt like I hit the jackpot!! I had the cake batter flavor. The choice of toppings were also great! Will cone back the next time I visit Columbus. I wonder if there's one near Chicago?? :-)

This place is a great addition to Gay St! The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. The self-serve yogurt is great with a lot of tasty options to choose from. I've been back three times in the last week!

First off, can I just say that the owner is absolutely wonderful. It's refreshing to see owners treat their customers in this manner, greeting each and every person, pulling up chairs, spending time to converse with them, etc. Anyways, the set up is pretty much how you would expect a froyo place to be. Pick up mini cups, try flavors. Pick up big cup, fill up with all the good stuff, then go to the toppings and cover it with some other good stuff. The flavors are switched regularly, which is encouraging as I'd like to try more. (Unfortunately, we had just finished eating at Tip Top down the street and couldn't try as much as we would have liked, which is, all of it.) The flavors I did try, however, were wonderful. A refreshing blast from the past that included some clever and unique toppings. The mini buckeyes were delicious, sea salted caramel pieces rocked my world, and cap'n crunch? Are you serious? It is like taking all the good parts of childhood and throwing it in a very reasonably priced cup. Cheers to a lovely new addition to downtown Columbus, and thank you so much to the wonderful owner for making this the perfect pit stop after date night. I will definitely be checking back soon.

The husband & I stopped in after dinner at Ringside Cafe. We've been to similar fro-yo places, but this was our first visit at 39 Below. Pretty good choice of flavors and toppings. The fro-yo comes out of the machine faster than at some other places - doesn't bother me bc I worked at a soft serve place for 6 years, but be wary if you're less experienced. The chocolate machine wasn't working all that well when we visited - it came out more soup like than either of us would have liked. The guy working the counter seemed nice, but was so soft spoken we could barely hear him. The husband eventually just gave up trying and had me handle the transaction.

Pretty good froyo. Price was cheaper than a lot of frozen yogurt places that I am used to. They had red velvet, which was a delicious flavor. In terms of options/selection, I found the yogurt flavor and toppings both a bit lacking. I've honest just had better selections. The yogurt itself was creamy and delicious, though! Plus points for having the sample cups already out for you; it's often annoying to have to ask every time you want to try something. The worker was talking to her friend for most of the time we were in, so it was a little less personable. But otherwise, good froyo, and nice outdoor seating for the summer!

Cute little place downtown. I love the atmosphere, it's a pretty chic place to hang out on your laptop. The frozen yogurt is amazing. I just wish they had better coffee, like an espresso machine.

Great tasting fro yo. The staff is super nice. They have gluten free options and even accommodated me by getting me an un glutenized topping since the one on the counter were next to the gluten stuff. Will def visit again when I come back to visit Ohio.

So much more than Fro-Yo. They have awesome breakfast and now they have a cocoa/hot apple cider bar and grilled cheese and soup! Check their Facebook because there's always something new happening. Carolyn is awesome and this place is a definite must for the downtown/Gay St. lunchers.
