The Stone Oven has easily become one of my go-to places for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even just a dessert. Their sandwiches and salads have all been good, and their soup is always flavorful and fresh. Their soups seem to change daily, with always two options (one usually vegetarian and one meat-based) available. Their baked goods are exceptional, especially their tea biscuits. Gosh, if you haven't had a Stone Oven tea biscuit (poppyseed, raspberry, or apricot are your choices), you definitely need to give them a try! I've also taken a few of their loaves home and each one has been fantastic. Keep in mind, though, that they are void of preservatives, so should be enjoyed within a few days; otherwise, they can easily be stored in the freezer for later use. The service is always friendly and usually well-staffed, especially on the weekends when the lines can get a bit long at lunch. There is plenty of seating, even for larger groups, so it is usually not difficult to find a seat to enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch, or sweet treat. There's also free wi-fi and plenty of parking in the back lot if you plan to stay awhile and study. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Truly, The Stone Oven is one of the gem bakeries in Cleveland!

Fantastic egg salad! Also enjoyed some soup and a coconut bar. Bustling atmosphere and friendly staff makes for a great lunch!

This is one of my favorite places for sandwiches, pastries and salads. I frequent this location, as well as the one located in Eton. I've never had a bad meal here, everything is always fresh and delicious. My favorite sandwich here is the curried chicken salad sandwich, which is sweet and savory, served on fresh handcut bread. I also love the side options, kettle chips, tabouli or couscous. My only complaint is that the staff at the Lee Road location never has any sense of urgency and not always very friendly, but after speaking with manager, I can understand why, he was a bit laid back, as well. The food is always great, I'll definitely return!

Great spot for breakfast or lunch with indoor and outdoor seating. I look forward to the daily soups and French toast! Also, fantastic baked goods and bread.

Beautifully artisan breads, pastries, and desserts without the high prices. I like that they got more substantial breakfast foods than just pastries. Their mocha bomb was delish, good blend of mousse & cake, not too sweet. PB choco cookie very soft with just the right amount of insides. Nutella croissant had tasty nuts on top; the croissant isn't as flaky as I would like, but it's one of the better croissants around. The people are nice & sitting inside feels relaxing. Best parts: free wifi & clean bathrooms!!

I used to really enjoy the stone oven. I used to sneak their cookies into movies at the cedar lee. Lately when I go there, service is spotty. No matter what I order it always ends up tasting the same. Their menu needs an update. I can't justify the money anymore for bland pastries and soup.

Great food. My favorite items are the "chicken curry salad sandwich and the rice pudding". Wonderful location right in the heart of Cleveland heights and far enough from other bakeries that it makes a worthwhile walk to grab lunch. Staff is always berry pleasant and polite.

just got some takeout lunch, salmon salad with capers sandwich on absolutely beautiful rye bread, the tabbouleh was magnificent. 10/10 will eat there again. great portion size, reasonably priced, super fresh :)

I love this place! This is one of the businesses in my neighborhood that makes me love where I live. On most visits I run in here to grab a loaf of bread (my kids' very favorite bread is the pugliese), a challah on Friday, or a quick cup of coffee. But it's also the place I take my kids for a special "breakfast" (in quotes bc it's more like dessert) before the first and last day of school. The pastries they order are delicious and tasty and usually include the ham and swiss croissant, a cinnamon roll/croissant, and breakfast breads. I order the stone ground oatmeal and nibble off theirs. All of it is super yummy! This is also a great place to grab lunch. The sandwiches and salads are fresh, LARGE, and really tasty. I'm a big fan of their salad with the scoop of tuna...I think it's called Sasha's choice. They also have a delicious Mediterranean salad that my boyfriend likes to get with a scoop of the tarragon chicken salad. The turkey sandwich and the roasted veggie sandwich are other fantastic choices. I tried the roast beef sandwich once and couldn't bite through the tough meat so I don't recommend it (disclaimer: I never order roast beef so maybe it's always like this?). When ordering a sandwich, get either the tabbouleh (garlic-y lemony deliciousness) or the chips (the crunchy kettle-cooked kind). The couscous is just a dry and not very delicious accompaniment to a bread sandwich, IMO. This is also a great place to pick up dessert for a dinner party when you don't have time to bake. I lived on the brownies and lemon squares when I was pregnant. Awesome local bakery and neighborhood gathering place.

Some classmates and I met here for breakfast Sunday morning and I'm so glad we decided to go as early as we did because this place filled up fast! It was hoppin' by 9:15! I had some scrambled eggs with a variety of veggies and some toast as well as a latte with almond milk. It was just what I needed since I almost never get up that early! Adding to the pleasantness of the morning was the fact that everything was less than $10! What a cool place!

The bread and pastries here are worth the trip all by themselves. I'm a fan of taking a 2:00pm break here, with a coffee and pastry, even though the coffee is just ok. For lunch, most of the sandwiches are spot-on. In my opinion, the tarragon chicken salad is a bit plain, but that's to be expected with a mild spice like tarragon. A better alternative is the chicken curry salad, and with focaccia bread it is incredible! It can get very busy, but going around 12:30 normally misses the rush. Bottom line, it's a solid lunch spot in the Heights.

Very underwhelmed. We had a pb&j (over $4.00 for some Smuckers for a little kid?!) with couscous and a cold chicken salad sandwich on wheat. The pb&j was your regular pb and j. The chicken salad was sad. It had no real flavor and was dressed with a piece of tired old lettuce. Panera is waaaay better tasting. The bread was soft and was the only thing decent besides the tabbouleh, which was excellent. Couscous was bland. The restaurant ambiance was fine, but the floor needed attention, tons of garbage and crumbs all over. The napkins are impossible to find. The employees looked bored, no one was particularly friendly. Bought a cookie for the kid, she liked it. Husband bought a brownie...it was dry.

What a pleasant experience! I immediately ventured to this place after the disappointment of On the Rise Artisan (which I have reviewed!). Ordering and wait time was excellent. I ended up with the turkey orzo soup, roasted veggie sandwich on multigrain bread, and couscous. It sounds like a regular sized meal, but I was STUFFED. I ate it all while I studied for two hours. Soup was delicious and piping hot, just the way I like it! Bread was a great balance of crusty outside and soft inside. The sandwich was a good mix of favors, but I'll probably try something else next time. This was my first taste of couscous, and it wasn't bad! Dill isn't my favorite flavor, but it was tolerable in this side dish. In the end, it was a good meal to help me get through my studying.

I suppose it would be fair to give four stars, because it is better than "A-OK", but I can't say "Yay! I'm a fan." either. Hmmm. So the bread is very good, also the croissants. Even if one wanted to be less anal about names for ways of preparing coffee that have not much left in common with what these names originally meant in places where they originated from, the kids serving do not all do the same thing and what you end up with is still a lucky dip, even if you learned your vocabulary well. Personally (I am also a potter) I find paper cups a sin against any hot drinks, mulled wine on a Christkindl-Market being the may-be exception due to the fact that you buy it from a stand (as opposed to a shop) and drink it outside (keeps fingers warm), and further not only do I want to sit with my ceramic cup but also I insist on a tea-spoon, and Stone Oven only has soup spoons. A wooden or plastic stick won't do, and a soup spoon neither, sorry to be so picky, but I'm willing to give up on the saucer. This shop COULD be the 'less-over-the-top-alternative' to the recent "artisan-coffee shop"-craze that Cleveland is drowning itself in, but then again it is not, as the acoustics are hell. There seems to be a very large very lively group of seniors meeting there for every-morning-discussion, which is absolutely fine, God bless them, and the fact that they are seniors is certainly not the issue, but they happen to be so loud that one can't hear one's own thoughts sitting anywhere near them (which means practically anywhere in the not that large shop) which makes me not want to go there and stay. It does make me wonder if they are really that loud (??) or if the place has acoustics like the Sydney Opera House. Anyways, just to buy your bread this is a very good place.

I came in last week and ordered a ham and cheese croissant and a loaf of sour dough bread to go. I was so excited that I stopped in! The service was friendly and I can't wait to come back and order sandwiches or other kinds of croissants. The sour dough bread I took home tasted like sour dough from San Fran!

I've been here a couple of times now, and I've liked it both times. I came here for the first time in the summer when I was interviewing for a job. I got a salad then, and remembered really liking it. We sat outside on the patio in the back, which is super cute! This time, I had a couple of gift certificates from 2011 (yep, you read that right. I can't believe I held onto them that long...) that allegedly never expired. I brought them in, skeptical that they would be honored. To my surprise, they were accepted without a second glance. Service was otherwise very nice as well. My boyfriend got the roast beef sandwich with tabbouleh and I got the tarragon chicken salad with couscous. We also got a couple of desserts. I enjoyed my chicken salad. I liked the roast beef better, surprisingly, because it had this delicious horseradish mayo on it. I also preferred the tabbouleh to the couscous. Though both were good, I thought the tabbouleh had a bit more flavor. I got a couple of tea cookies which were exactly what I was hoping! Delicious, sweet, and scrumptious. My boyfriend got a brownie and a cupcake. He liked everything except for the cupcake, because he said the icing was a little strange and tasted a little store-bought. Everything else was great! I like the atmosphere of this place, I like the food, I like the service. Prices were fairly reasonable, too - our sandwiches with sides came to just a little over $15. I probably would have spent more at a place like Panera. Parking was also pretty easy - there's a metered lot in the back. Glad we had an excuse to come here!

I came with a friend for a quick dinner and since I'm feeling a little under the weather, I decided to get a bowl of soup. I got the turkey orzo and boy was it SALTY! I'm sick and so my taste buds should be a little dull, but even with that, I could taste the salt. The turkey in the soup was the chunky pieces of deli turkey, super processed. I thought it would be more like real turkey, so I was a bit disappointed. The orzo also was a little ... slimey? Is that the word I'm looking for? Something about the texture was a little off for me, but I'm not a huge fan of textured foods. I did like the bread that came with the soup. It was very tasty. I wish there was more because it would have definitely helped cut down on the saltiness of the food. This place reminds me very much of a Panera Bread. It's good for a quick meal, but I wouldn't say it's the best thing I've ever had. Their pastries do look very tempting and so next time I'm by Phoenix, I'll definitely stop by Stone Oven for some yummy looking cookies or cupcakes.

I came here for a quick dinner and I have to say the food was ok, typical cafe food style and quality. I ordered roasted vege sandwich with Italian bread. I have to say the flavor was pretty good but I wish they had a toasted option for me so I'm not eating a cold sandwich in the winter for dinner. also, I'm not sure if I saw eggplant in my sandwich, although its supposed to be one of the ingredients. I also got th tabbouleh because of many people's recommendation. I think it was way too sour for me and a little too dry. the portion size was very generous, but I probably won't come here unless I need something quick and ready to go. I'm also kinda curious about their desserts so maybe ill stop by next time to try the sweets.

The Stone Oven makes sandwiches that just cannot be bettered. The recipes and the fresh ingredients, not to mention the delicious and wide variety of breads make this place one of the best little restaurants in Cleveland. The staff is friendly and efficient too. The only mildly disappointing thing was that they don't serve whole milk with the cappuccino. It's good that they're health conscious but I wish they at least offered the option. Otherwise this is the go-to restaurant for a light, healthy unbelievably delicious sandwich! I am yet to try their deserts. Will update this space once I come around to it. P.S. I'm a vegetarian so my review is good for all vegetarians out there. I think they have a couple of vegan sandwiches too but I'm not sure since I eat cheese and I don't pay much attention to that.

This place is great. Went for breakfast and lunch in the same week. I love the soup/salad/sandwich combos. The focaccia was out of this world! Same cost as a panera lunch but with more flavor and awesomeness.

I have a very important announcement to make: The roasted veggie sandwich on multi-grain bread with a side of tabbouleh is where it's at, man. In need of a quick bite to eat after my hair appointment, I stopped in to scoop up something nutritious. My vegan friend suggested the roasted veg sandie, and although I'm not strictly a plant eater, I tend to dabble once in a while. Anyways, I ordered this thing on a whim, trusting my friend that it wouldn't be a tasteless, soggy abomination to the sandwich kingdom. Hail to the frickin' veg--this thing was yummy. The bread was soft, delicious and went perfectly with the roasted zucchini, eggplant, red peppers and artichoke pesto. I had them add some swiss cheese and although it was good, it wasn't necessary. Plus, no sogginess! Also, these 'wiches are huge! I made it through half of this monster, gave up, and sent the other half with my friend. The tabbouleh? Super garlic-y and just delish. It can get a little sketchy when you try foods like this at a place that doesn't specialize in that cuisine--Stone Oven nails it. P.S. I was told the gazpacho is also a game changer... I'll be back.

Decadence...just plain decadent. This little family owned spot is exactly what a quaint bakery/coffee shop/ sandwich shop would be. It gets a big thumbs up.

When you see the owner John remind him the coffee here is TERRIBLE. Seriously! no seriously, the coffee is so bitter you'd start to rethink Starbucks isn't too acidic...........and and the opeing times in the morning are a joke............7:30, 8, 8:30 for weekday, sat and sunday morning openings.............ok lets end on a positive note - they have EXCELLENT pastries. they bake them fresh in house. Good bread pudding too. The breads not bad either. all fresh made in the store

I love the breads and regularly buy loaves to bring home -- multigrain, or focaccia, or any of the Sicilliano, or really any of them. For a quick lunch I like either a chicken salad or tuna salad sandwich with couscous. Although I usually like tabbouleh, I am not a fan of the tabbouleh here. Most of the soups have tomato, and I am allergic, so I can't say much about them. Lots of really good baked things, I am a big fan of the croissants.

  • Chanell S.

I'm a fan of Stone Oven because: - there's plenty of healthful choices - they use quality ingredients - everything I've tried had great flavor - it's locally owned I'm not a fan of: - the parking (can't really hold this against though) - the short/bothered tone of the cashier I had last time - that there isn't any hot sandwiches - not many clean tables to choose from I'd change to 4 stars if my next visit involved some friendlier service.

I LOVE this place. My best friend and I love to come here for our girl dates and I find myself craving the salmon salad sandwich (purple onions, salmon and capers?! YES!) and ALL of the soup frequently. The brownies are spectacular and result in foodgasms. The little key lime pies have even traveled cross-state to get to some key lime lovers, and they changed their lives!! I don't typically get the couscous, but the taboule is delicious and the chips are good as well. (Though I like the taboule a little more because it isn't as filling and feels healthier when I'm stuffing myself.)

I have been eating hear since my college days when my buddy used to work here on our breaks. It had been good each time. Everytime. I like most food here but get the veggie soups. My fav sandwhich is tuna with provolone lettuce tomato onion on foccacia bread with fresh chips on the side. Hey -I didnt say I was on a diet! Coffee and sweets are great here also! Usually Im just too full from above lunch to eat it!

  • Joyce H.

I like the space here, the lunch hustle and bustle, and the amazing bread, but 2.5 stars overall for food. I had the half cup soup, half sandwich (roasted veggie). The artichoke pesto was tasty and the veggies were pretty decent. The couscous and soup were just okay though -- flavors weren't mind-blowing. Just a nice sandwich hang out shop if you need to grab a quick bite.

One of the greatest bakeries in CLE. But dang people, time to upgrade the quality and variety of coffee/s. It often is a reason for me to chose Phoenix over Stone Oven although I like the interior and superior food choices of Stone Oven a lot more. With better coffee, I'd give this a 5 - star rating.

I have been here a few times and have had a pleasant experience each time. From what I saw this is a basic bakery that also serves food, mainly breakfast and lunch. I have had breakfast here twice and lunch here once. It is not a full service restaurant, order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Stone Oven's croissants are some of the best I've had and you can add them onto your breakfast and lunch items. I noticed that some others had mention pricing and I actually didn't think it was that bad. Under 10$ for breakfast and the same for lunch, which I don't think is too bad for fresh baked bread/pastries ect. I can also confirm the coffee is not good here. I wouldn't say its the worst coffee I've ever drank, it's actually not that bad, I just wouldn't hold off on drinking my wake up coffee to have one over breakfast here. I will definitely be back to Stone Oven for breakfast and lunch. This would also be a great place to takeout from and bring home as it can get crowded. I would suggest the breakfast scramble with a croissant. If you can't find their breakfast menu it's because it's printed and hanging on the window in front of the pastries, don't miss it like I did the first time here!

I don't care that when you want a salad to go you have to wait 15 minutes when it's busy. I don't care that it's more expensive than I would like. I don't care that I once found a metal nail in my salad. I seriously still give The Stone Oven 5 stars because the Jaina is my favorite salad ever. Minus the roasted red peppers, of course. I miss this place so much.

Family lunch with family on a Saturday was truly disappointing: forks showed dishwasher residue; trash bins were overflowing; pugliese was overdone: too dark and dry. My daughter had a hard time eating it. When I asked for a plain slice of softer siciliano, I was charged an additional 75 cents. My next family lunch will be 'On the Rise' on Fairmount Blvd.

Came here for breakfast with the family on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome! Decided to bring in laws back. Was appalled to find that they charge $1.25 to refill your coffee. Seriously? And they charge $.50 if you want your bread toasted. Serously? My wife and I don't drink coffee, which is why we didn't know this. Food is great, place is nice, a bit overpriced on some things - I can live with that. But to charge for coffee refills and to toast your bread? Seriously? Don't get me wrong... we enjoyed the food and we'll likely be back, but I think the owners may want to rethink some of their business practices. Nickle and diming your customers doesn't sit well with me.

I came here with a friend, and had a soup and salad, with Roast Beef and swiss. The minestrone soup was quite fetching. I did have to add a lot of Tabasco; but that was because I really like spice. The soup was heartily prepared, so no fault of the soup! I had an italian bread with my sandwich and was most satisfied. Prompt service and a warm vibe makes for a very pleasant and reasonably priced place for enjoying a mouth-watering morsel...

Why, Stone Oven, did you go from heavenly to earthly? I hadn't visited for several months, and was looking forward to the absolutely best cinnamon rolls in town. Light, tender croissant pastry and not drenched in sugary glaze like Panera or grocery store bakeries. Much to my chagrin, I peered into the pastry case and saw cinnamon rolls -- coated with a heavy, sugary glaze. Well, I bought one anyway, figuring the Stone Oven knows what they're doing. VERY disappointing! The glaze soaked the entire outer layer softening what used to be the perfectly balanced browned, ever-so-slightly crispy outside/delicate, soft inside. Also disappointing, an oat-raisin scone used to also be a much more tender, airy consistency. Today's was dense and heavy, like someone forgot to add the leavening. Next time, I'm heading around the corner to On The Rise for cinnamon rolls and scones. They've haven't compromised quality for quantity.

I really enjoy this place for a quick bite. Plenty of parking in the back and the service is fast. I feel like this is one of the healthiest options for food in the area and their salads are huge (could split). Their desserts are also great, but large as well. I really like their salad with tuna salad on it! The bread is delicious as well!

The recipe for a delicious sandwich at Stone Oven Bakery consists of two parts artisan bread, one part delectable Dijon and, unfortunately, one half part meat required to complete the sandwich. All served at a very high price. Don't get me wrong, SOB serves up delicious, delicious sandwiches. They know this and they charge a premium because of it, which I am 100% fine with and completely understand. I just wish they included more meat on the sandwich for the price I'm paying. FYI- Black Forest Ham on Multi-grain is my sammie of choice at SOB. Dy-no-mite. Their sides range from the unremarkable to the Middle Eastern 'exotic'. Although I normally go with the no-brainer side of potato chips, I tried the tabbouleh (thank you Google spellcheck) on my last trip and it was surprisingly a very good sandwich compliment. If you have a sweet-tooth, desserts are in ready supply at SOB and are the perfect way to cap a meal. The inside of the restaurant is clean, spacious and great for reading/studying. Perhaps even more importantly, there is an outdoor patio out back to help us Northern folk take full advantage of our 60 days of summer. Will I go back to SOB? Of course I will (and I have). But if I'm hungry I may head somewhere else that will give me more bang for my buck.

I wish this place was near my office, I'd eat lunch here just about everyday. And take some bread or desserts home for dinner too. I expected the breads and scones to be good, but I was pleasantly surprised that even the little side serving of tabouli that came with my sandwich was excellent. I see the other complaints about it being pricy - maybe it's because I'm from out of the area, but I thought prices were reasonable and very much consistent with the quality of the food.

Great place! Basically a local version of Panera. Tasty :-)

  • P W.

Stone Oven is a great alternative to something like Panera Bread. The food is good and there are plenty of options. The offerings lean more toward the healthy side of things which is good. I prefer Stone Oven to the few sandwich shops around Tremont (Bodega, Dish Deli etc...) but cannot justify driving 15 minutes out to Cleveland Heights to get it most of the time. If I ever move to the east side, I will probably eat here a decent amount.

Love it! Perfect alternative to chainy icky Panera. Curry chicken on raisin walnut or Jaina salad, oh and pizza yummy yummy! Also, sides of tabbuleh or couscous a great addition. Staff can be snooty sometimes which is weird. I mean everyone is nice in Cleveland .

This is usually our dining pick when we go to the Cedar Lee for a movie. It never disappoints. Tasty soups and sandwiches. The bread is freshly baked. Asiago cheese bread actually has chunks of the cheese in each slice..... Love it!!!

I am definitely a regular here in this mom and pop, but upscale cafe. Their Siciliano bread is my weekly sandwich bread and at $2.75 for a sliced loaf of fresh soft Italian bread, you can't beat it. Although it is probably best known as a sandwich shop, there hasn't been a soup that I haven't liked here. Their tabbouleh sides are amazing. I have only had one thing I didn't like and that was a coconut cream tart, which I think had gone bad. Otherwise their danishes and other deserts have all been great. In fact, the almond danish is to die for. I'd given them 5 stars if they offered hot sandwiches as well. Oh and price is great for the quality. This place is always packed for a reason.

I always enjoy the sandwiches & salads at Stone Oven. My favorite sandwich is the Roast Beef with the Horseradish sauce. Its so yummy. And it always feels like a much healthier choice than I normally make when it comes to food. And if you want a treat, there is a whole glass case full of yummy desserts. :-)

Love the Stone Oven and come here often. What do I love? I love the wonderful baked goods, the excellent bread (I try to buy all my bread here!) and the lovely mural of bread baking, which I think is suppose to be Botero-esque. The soups are also good and there is always veg option which is fabulous. The tabouli salad is great. My only really criticism is that the wireless is hit or miss.

The Stone Oven is the Cleveland Cavaliers of Lee road dinning. Everyone forgets there there but when you go you have a good time. The services is fast the food is fresh and there is zero hassle involved. Pick from a variety of sandwiches, choose your own fresh bread, pay, pick up, and enjoy. No waiters and you can sit wherever you want and come and go as you please. You can't go wrong here. I had the roast beef with swiss (horseradish mayo) or asiago bread. It was delish. Give them a chance your sure to have fun!

i miss many things from my time living in cleveland, and this is probably at the top of the list. i lived just doors away from this charming bakery, and ate at least one meal a day here. the staff was always so pleasant, the food always perfect, and the coffee always strong and fresh as far as pastries go, you couldnt go wrong with any of them, honestly, ive had everything over the course of my three years living near-by and i was never unhappy. however, if one thing stands out, its the poppy seed tea biscuit. this heavenly pastry was always in demand, and i can remember two instances where fights broke out over the last one, and i am not joking. it became a weekend tradition for me to go early on a saturday and get two, knowing that i wouldnt make it in time to get one on sunday morning, and to be without it, well, you dont want to make me sad, do you? they offer a few soups everyday, and always a vegetarian option, and again, ive had just about every one they make, and was always pleased. also, their sandwiches, served with tasty couscous (how healthy!) were a major part of my diet--my only complaint is that they never had regular yellow mustard, just honey mustard, so i would generally have to get my sammys to go and put mustard on them at home...oh well! beyond the service, and food, the general neighborhood feel of bakery/cafe was delightful. i recently watched a docu about "the big-boxing" of america, and how smaller, mom-and-pop shops are being leveled to make way for the big corporations, and i immediately thought of this place, and the cedar-lee neighborhood i lived in, only to get 2/3 of the way through the film and see them tape a portion INSIDE from a booth ive sat at many times, it was surreal, and very apropos; this is one mom-and-pop that wont ever close, and for good reason!

Wonderful fresh baked artisan breads, desserts, and sandwiches. The soups are constantly changing; unique and tasty. One slight bummer is only having two soups offered at once.

The people here are great. Kind, attentive, pleasant, welcoming. Additionally the food and the bread and the coffee is equally wonderful, so if you were to ask me...Stone Oven f-ing rocks. Jellys and jams to put on your breads, the Sunday paper on the counter and tons of tasty options. Love the oven and every stone to make it.

They serve City Roast coffee. If they would grind it and sell it to me on location it'd be five stars easily on that alone. Outside of that, they have excellent sandwiches, breads, soups, and really good deserts. Probably my favorite lunch stop in Cleveland Heights.

This is a bakery/cafe and it functions very well in both respects. The bread is very good, worth every penny. It is consistent, baked fresh, and has just enough variety to keep most people satisfied (although I could live with more variety). The sweets are also very good; in my opinion the best item sold here are the almost danishes...they taste like a danish with marzipan in the middle, and are absolutely wonderful. This cafe also serves food and can be a good place to get lunch. The soups are consistently excellent, and the sandwiches (on the bread of course) are always good. The atmosphere is nice, slightly trendy/urban; there is a clean tile floor, neat chairs, stools, and tables; very good jazz is usually playing. It's not exactly a cozy place, it has more of a "sophisticated" feel to it; a bit more fast-paced and less laid-back, but very nice. One can chat with friends or enjoy a cup of tea while watching the street--a very active place in the heart of the Cedar/Lee business district. As the other reviewer pointed out, there is not a single place in the Cleveland area that resembles this one. As such, it is greatly appreciated and is always quite busy. Parking is around back in the municipal lot--beware, the Cleveland Heights Police regularly patrol the lot on foot and exhibit the utmost vigilance when it comes to spotting cars parked at expired meters. The tickets, however, are quite affordable.

Actually pretty surprised to find this place packed on a Monday at 2pm....it is Cleveland after all so I've become used to everything looking abandoned. Very friendly and didn't even bat an eye when I supplied them with with my favorite fake name "Gomez". Oh yea my sandwich was good too.

My favorite place to eat lunch in Cleveland! I moved from the city about 3 years ago, but each time I go back to visit, it's where I want to eat. The roast beef sandwich is awesome and their soup selection is even better. And don't even get me started on their desserts -- try a piece of carrot cake, it's incredible. Easy parking and its new location make it an easy place to get to, and the huge plate glass windows make it fun to people watch. It's a simple cafe without too many bells and whistles, but that's perfect for me.

Loved the Stone Oven on Lee since Day 1 when it was located on the corner. Please, expand to the west side!!!

One nice thing about Cleveland is that it does have places like The Stone Oven. One of the problems with Cleveland is that pretty much the only places like The Stone Oven IS The Stone Oven, and you can tell, as the place is packed from morning until well after lunch on a Saturday. This is your typical coffeehouse cafe serving soups, salads and sandwiches in addition to the coffee. A variety of breads and sides allow you to personalize your purchase. It is quite tasty, and the sourdough (when they're not trying to health me up with that wheat-style) is not bad. The downside: no wireless internet.
