When I was planning events in college, Marigold was our caterer of choice! Marigold was always really easy to work with and really professional. The people we worked with were always quick to respond to us and to make sure our needs were met for our events. They were a bit pricier than the other caterer we sometimes used, but it was so worth it! They had this salad that was AMAZING. I don't remember what it was exactly, but I remember it had feta cheese and mandarin oranges and was absolutely delicious. If we got to eat leftovers from a Marigold-catered event, it seriously made my day. If I were in Cleveland and planning events, I would definitely reach out to Marigold to make sure my catering needs were met!

Literally couldn't be more thrilled with our experience with Marigold, from the time we first sat down to brainstorm about ideas, through menu planning (so innovative and creative!) to the night of our wedding reception at their onsite facility (August 2013). First: the food. The food! People are still talking to us about the extraordinary meal they had--not just the best of any wedding they'd been to, but excellent by top restaurant standards. Seriously. We set them the difficult task of creating an Asian/southern fusion meal (you wouldn't think it could be done, but Marigold did it!), with variety to enable the vegans and vegetarians to fully partake too. Every dish was amazing, and served elegantly and creatively. I found them more than willing to work within our budget, and to think about a variety of ways to achieve what we were looking for. We had a full cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres, followed by a meal presented at several stations, an old-fashioned ice cream sundae bar for dessert, and then dancing: all in 3901 at Marigold. They handled each transition seamlessly, and I never had to think or worry about it during the day itself. Because beyond the delicious food, what really made Marigold stand apart is that we felt we were working with people who *genuinely* enjoy what they do--thinking through food, designing great parties, making it easy for people to just enjoy themselves. The party was honestly perfect. I will also add that, as it happens, our wedding occurred during the same week that another major caterer was going out of business, having summarily fired dozens of workers and cancelled events around the city. We witnessed Marigold working around the clock to try to save many of these events, and also to hire as many of the other company's displaced workers as they could. From what I could perceive, they did something really great by the larger community. It could have been a very tumultuous time indeed, but they kept it "offstage," and at no point did their commitment to our wedding get sacrificed. So I not only have huge gratitude for Marigold helping create the reception of our dreams, but also for their ethical and community-minded business practices. Marigold, I would give you 6 stars if I could! Thank you, thank you, for an amazing wedding reception, for your vision, your commitment to green and local food, your warmth, and for making our wedding reception just exactly what we hoped for!

I would love to do a review of this place since it looks very promising but unfortunately, I never received a real answer from their "Event Planner". I asked for an estimate with options, followed by a phone call to clarify my needs and 2 days later I got more questions, some of them repeated questions that I clarified before. I happily clarified those and gave more insight to get a proper estimate, and 2 days later I get back with more questions. Seems like this company must be doing very well, since they don't have time to answer to potential costumers!

I recently used Marigold for breakfast and lunch craft service and catering for a commercial shoot. They were really great. Very accommodating to my many last minute changes and most importantly the food was good!

Marigold catered our wedding reception and rehearsal dinner. Both venues were unique and had minimal catering space and equipment. We also had distinct cuisine styles for each. A modern take on a classic american barbecue/picnic for the rehearsal dinner and a Spanish/Mexican/Latin/Fiesta themed reception. Despite the limitations of the spaces and the starkly different cuisines, the food for both was exquisite, superbly prepared, and well-served. Ours guests raved about the food after both events. Marigold worked within our budget without trying to push us to do/spend more. Moreover, they were more than willing to accommodate and serve a variety of home-made foods at each event (appetizers and desserts at the rehearsal dinner and desserts at the reception.) Through the entire process, from initial meetings to tastings to event execution, Marigold was professional and exceeded our expectations in every way. Of all the vendors with which we dealt throughout the process of putting on our wedding, Marigold Catering was by far the very best.

Marigold literally saved our wedding, and for that I will forever be grateful. After fleeing to them after being erroneously told by the company that owned the venue of our wedding that we had to work with the evil empire Sammy's (see my separate review for Sammy's, aka the criminally incompetent and morally bankrupt 'catering' company that has a bit of a stranglehold on downtown Cleveland), they were everything we had wanted when thinking of who would provide the edibles at our wedding. Open to our ideas and helpful in constructing a menu that reflected what we wanted our wedding to be, Marigold exceeded expectations each step of the way. From the one on one tasting with the company founder and executive chef all the way to the rave reviews coming from our friends and family, I couldn't give a stronger recommendation for these folks. Thank you, thank you, thank you Marigold!

If you like to be fooled then choose Marigold. We chose Marigold to cater our reception at the Old Cleveland Courthouse, after a tasting we had with them. We had the stuffed french chicken breast and braised chipotle beef ribs. I must say the food tasted absolutely delicious. I was really pleased with how good the food tasted and I asked if the food would be this good for the reception, due to the fact that during the tasting they did not have to cook a large amount of food. I was assured the food would taste the same, and that they were used to cooking great tasting food in large quantities. I also addressed my concern for the food being served warm, because the courthouse does not have a kitchen. I was assured the food would be served warm, they stated they had warming devices in their van and pointed out they were only a few minutes from the courthouse. I left confident in their services. At the reception the food was not the same, the bread did not have the speckles of Kosher salt as it did the day of tasting, I could barely find the stuffed Polenza in my chicken breast, and my food was cold. It was discussed amongst my bridal party how cold the food was. I did not eat my food, it was cold and tasteless. One of the bartenders was rude to my husband and he was dismissed and sent home by the manager because of his rudeness. After returning back from our honeymoon, our family and friends commented on how beautiful the wedding was and that the only downfall was the cold food. My grandmother told me her chicken was undercooked and bleeding, a friend of mine told me the same thing. We also found out that one of their workers, instead of directing guest to our wishing well decided to collect the envelopes herself....to this day I do not know if we received all of our envelopes...They also kept slices of our cake for themselves and told my guest, who wanted more cake, that there wasn't anymore cake. When in fact, there was, my brother in law saw it in their catering station and my sister told them to bring it out. I sent an email to Marigold and their response is below. They did not have a response to most of my complaints as you will see. I do not know how they would have known who my immediate family was and I have yet to find out who they are talking about, because no one in my immediate family enjoyed their food. Basically Marigold's response was to think of something else to be happy about on that day. A total lack of going the extra mile, I can't have my day back and they can't make up for the cold tasteless food and poor service. For the price we paid I expected 5 star service, instead there was a 5 star bill for 2 star service. the 2 stars are for their presentation, the servers looked very professional and they were nice. Marigold's Response: Hi Cherie, Liz forwarded me your email, and I have to say that I was very surprised by it. I am so sorry that in hindsight your wedding was not all you had hoped for. After receiving your letter we discussed your wedding in great detail, and I have to admit, from our perspective it was a successful event. Jimmy received a myriad of compliments on the food and the service, some from your immediate family and many many guests. And the chef, truly one of our best, was also completely surprised by your email regarding the quality of the food. The bartender showed poor judgment in pouring the liquor into a smaller bottle, but it truly was only to speed up service to your guests. He was in no way attempting to be disrespectful to your husband. Again, I am sorry that you feel that it was not all that you expected, I hope that you will be able to look back on your wedding in the coming years and will be able to remember everything that you did enjoy that day.
