This place has very very pretty desserts. They run out of things towards the afternoon. The macaroons are the perfect light airy chewy texture. The triomph chocolate dessert was very good but nothing could be as good as it looked. Their seems to be a reliance on almond paste in a lot here and I did not think it was spectacular in flavor or texture. Definitely a place a group of women would enjoy but I found it to be a little style over substance with what I had. Still, nice atmosphere and I am sure they will continue to succeed. Just for pure flavor I would rather go to Great Scott's or several places in West Side Market.

Coquette is smart, classy and delicious. The ambiance, drinks and pastries are all thoughtfully and gracefully composed making this a special spot in the neighborhood. We are looking forward to our next visit and to becoming regulars.

Absolutely in love with the French macaroons. So soft, chewy, & flavorful. So worth my drive from Willoughby.

I love macarons, and will order one at any place that makes them, so I was excited to try this new shop at University Circle. It's a beautifully presented little space with a classy vibe. Unfortunately, I have to agree with reviewer Yuan C. -- the macarons left me feeling "meh." They're perhaps too subtle in flavor, and all I could think was that I much preferred the fatter, fluffier, punchier macarons at Luna, my go-to place for sweet treats. Coquette also serves some other baked items and cheeses, but nothing more substantial -- it would be great if they had light lunches like quiche and salad on offer as well. Still, this is a good place to sit down for a tea or coffee if you're in the University Circle area.

Great spot for after the orchestra, event, or romantic date in University circle. I love the European cafe charm of the whole place. Classy but laid back. Love that. Potentially great people watching for coffee/studying during the day. Staff are very friendly. However, the food case in which the items to order on display were nearly empty! They were out of oysters, and apparently many other items. Disappointing and strange since they should have expected the "after-theater" crowd. And speaking of, the space is very small with limited seating. I wanted to order just a cup of tea with my food but they only sell it by the pot! ($5.50?!) I ended up ordering a small individual quiche. It was very good! I love that they stay open until midnight. I will be back maybe earlier in the day when the have more of a selection. I recommend it as a great meeting place for a quick dessert, coffee or wine.

Please note that my 2-star review is strictly for the product, in this case, macarons. I've been to Coquette twice: once shortly after it first opened and today (Dec. 2014). My first experience was great and the macarons were fantastic. Today, however, I purchased two of each flavor (today's were peppermint, rosemary, spicy mexican chocolate and cranberry). The peppermint and chocolate are both totally dried out and crunchy and the cranberry and rosemary just taste weird. Very disappointing. At $2 a pop, I expect them to at least be fresh/properly prepared. If you want consistently good macarons, go to Luna. But I will give Coquette props for their ambiance, spirits and other pastries which look lovely but I've yet to taste.

I love this place! Such a gem in the heart of University Circle. Having gotten to know Shane and many of the servers, it feels very homey, warm, and welcoming. The pastries (esp the macarons) are always excellent, the beers on tap are unique and interesting (they even had my #1 favourite once), and the absinthe is super fun to order. Overall it's a fine establishment, very classy, but also fun and casual. When I was a student at Case I would go 2-3 times a week! Oh... One more thing... get the cheese plate :)

Pretty much awesome. The space is just spectacular - it is a pleasure to just sit there. Combined with great food and it is a must visit.

Absolutely fantastic! My favorite new place in Uptown. Great handmade French patisserie, fine selection of microbrews, unparalleled ambient, and great owners. Very accommodating.

The worst servicing of an order I have ever experienced anywhere. Went one week ahead of time to order some desserts for a dinner party, because I was told a 'special order' requires one week's notice. I arrived the morning of the pick-up day--all smiles, along with my wife--to just CHECK on the order...simply to make sure our time-frame would be honored later that day (was on a tight schedule). I even offered to pay for it to save time on the back-end, even though it's pick-up time wasn't for 6 or 6 1/2 hours later. They eventually found the order still sitting on their order board, and said there would be no problem--really? Why one week's notice when the order is just sitting there completely forgotten? They couldn't even find it at first. They also could NOT ring up the order ahead of time (why, I am not sure). Returned at the appointed pick-up time...NO order! Was told they were just wrapping it up...(and this was NOT a big or complicated order, especially with a week's advance notice!). My wife and I sat for a few moments, and I went to the washroom. Through a window that looked into the kitchen from the hallway, I saw one lady feverishly trying to dress petit-fours. It was clearly my order. The order hadn't even BEGUN to be filled! I was getting very irritated, so my wife suggested that I go to our hotel and check-out while she waited. I did so and returned...still no order. In short, the order was one hour late by the time we paid for it. I wanted to just walk out, and told them so; but my wife just HAD to have these desserts for a dinner party. So we paid...no discount...even though MY time is definitely worth some money too! My wife said aloud: "C'mon honey, they are a small business...give them a break". To the ladies who own/operate this shop: I am a small business, and I am immensely successful precisely because I am fully reliable. NEVER late. My associates are not uninformed, as are your front of house staff; and as an owner/proprietor, I care about my customers...unlike you. Your attitudes were truculent, condescending, and arrogant...but your pastries were indeed pretty good (but that is the only compliment you are getting). No matter how good the desserts, this order was not worth my time or your attitudes. Here is a reality check...you are running a business...straighten out your personalities, be on time, and hire extra artisans if that is what it takes. But don't EVER keep customers waiting an additional hour for an order that was placed one week in advance. To your relief I am sure, you can be certain that I will not be returning to spend my money in your establishment. To others who are reading this...be forewarned.

I found this wonderful patisserie right in our neighborhood. Britt-Marie Culey, the pastry chef, makes some delightful pastries. We've already sampled a number of her beautiful creations and look forward to trying more. The first time I brought one of Britt's pastries home, my wife tried a bite and the first thing she said was that the flavor brought her right back to when she use to live in France and the wonderful pastries she enjoyed there. If you want to be wowed by desserts, or wow your dinner guests, check out her web site and try some!

I'm gonna update my review from the last time and have to say that while the food quality has remained stellar, the service quality has gone down. Allow me to elaborate: when I visited a year ago, the individuals who were behind the counter treated me like a customer, which is to say--they cared. Now, based on the past few times I have visited, the customer seems to have become an afterthought. Which is to say, as the other Yelper who has commented on this place rightly asserted, it seemed as though my presence was an inconvenience to the staff. I did not feel welcome.
