This place is underrated here on yelp! I've been here on several occasions and I tried their hibachi, sushi, curries and stir fries and my experience was great each time! we don't eat sushi much but when we do we want it to be fresh and tasty and this place offers a great selection of fresh delicious sushi! hibachi is very good as well and the place is well ventilated so you don't get out with the cooking smell all over your clothes. make sure to make reservation if you want the hibachi seating because it's limited. the service here is friendly and knowledgeable. Wild ginger is one of my favorite Asian places around cinci especially for special occasions.

I love Wild Ginger! I've been going since they opened and I've never had a bad experience there- minus one horrendous date, but that wasn't their fault :) I stopped in last night with my best friend, it had been a while since I had been. For an appetizer, I ordered the chicken potstickers. They're always good. Soft, but with little crispy spots on the outside. The soy ginger type sauce they serve with them is so delicious that I occasionally save it for my rice later in the meal! We also ordered the crab Rangoon. Super crispy and fresh with a sweet filling. There could be a little more crab, but I feel like most people who order this aren't super fans of crab anyway. For dinner, I ordered the teriyaki salmon. I had had it before, but I had forgotten just how great it was. It's served in a thick, teriyaki glaze. If you're a thinner teriyaki lover, this isn't for you. But I love it! It was served next to some stir fry veggies which were pretty good (except mushrooms- but that's my personal taste). My friend ordered their pho, which I've previously had and have always been a fan of. You have the option of meat (chicken, beef, and I think shrimp?) or tofu or just veggies. She ordered the tofu. The pho is served with a side dish of limes, a heaping pile of bean sprouts, and a small bowl of Sriracha-looking hot sauce to add to your hearts desire. Everything was tasty! They give a 10% discount if you pay with cash, which is nice if you have it. The service was great, we had a server who was new and asked us to please excuse his English. We are both patient people and his English actually wasn't that bad and our order came or correctly- which sometimes doesn't even happen with native English speakers at other restaurants. Hah! Anyway, yummy food, great service, I'm a fan. :)

Wildly fun and so good!!! Took 13 people for my 23 year old son's birthday! The hibachi cook was fantastic!! He was so personable and made the birthday party even better!! The food was excellent!! And I was stunned at the reasonable prices when my bill arrived. It was an overall, outstanding dinner, experience and evening!!

This is a review on "Sushi" only: there are around 13 places to eat Sushi in the Hyde Park / Mt Lookout area. You would think one place would be better than another, but sadly they all are about the same: "below average at best". Competition generally should drive one of these restaurants to excel... Just a little. So, struck with a case of amnesia, we popped in WG today for lunch... Warm, borderline hot sushi rolls. Tried one. Stopped. We paid our bill, and left. In Cincy, a developing "foodie" city... You'd expect better. The best sushi is in Mason (the burbs), try KYOTO.

I've heard a lot about Wild Ginger so I decided it was finally time to check it out. It looks more upscale inside than your average Asian restaurant. I had the miso soup, salad and a Dragon roll. It was all delicious and my server was very nice. I would go back again with a friend.

I don't pick Wild Ginger when I'm in the Hyde Park area. My kiddo loves Fusian; my husband loves Lemongrass; and my favorite is Green Papaya. However, I sometimes go to WG if a friend suggests it. This last time I went was purely out of convenience: I had errands to do at Rookwood, but was CRAVING phó something fierce. I'd been hoping to try Saigon Cafe, but they were closed, and I distantly recalled WG, being a "fusian Asian" restaurant, offering phó (along with their hibachi, sushi, Thai, etc.). I was seated quickly and the service was friendly, as it has been the other few times I've been there. But the food, UGH! Bad. Just bad. I ordered veggie spring rolls, and while they were tasty, the shredded vegetable filling was still cold in the centers. Not great. But the phó was sacrilegious - just disgusting, the worse phó I have ever had. It was a big bowl of spicy, grease-filmed, ORANGE broth, globbed with gummy noodles and bean sprouts already added in (this is a negative - I don't like bean sprouts anyway and I never add them to my phó). BUT THE WORSE was how, on top of the soup, was mounded strips of COOKED beef - how nasty! I had to ask for hoisin sauce and sriracha, since neither were offered or displayed on the table. Neither helped the "phó" anyway, which reminded me increasingly of those nasty Maruchan-brand spicy beef-flavored cup of Ramen noodles (the ones you add hot water to and let sit for several minutes) that I ate incessantly in college (I'm clearly not a food snob). The cooked beef strips were unappetizing, the broth was nasty, and unlike the affordable Ramen noodle packets consumed during my years as a starving grad student, the yucky phó and cold spring rolls were WAY overpriced - $19 (no beverage), and with tip, amounted to $22. Ridiculous, even if the food had been good (c'mon now, phó is just cheap noodles and broth, and the rolls weren't stuffed with shrimp or meat). The food and value were 1-star, but the servers were friendly so I'll bump it up to 2-stars, but I will definitely not be going back. I'll get some $8 sushi at Fusian close by next time, or grit my teeth and face the parking situation in Clifton to my beloved Cilantro with its $7 phó and $1.75 spring roll!

As a Hyde Park resident, this is my go-to for Thai. It's yet to disappoint (except for when I ordered the orange chicken, which was weird on my part since I don't actually like oranges - I'll take the fall for that one).

The sushi was amazing! Also, when there, be sure to get a spring roll. I got sushi, a spring roll, and orange chicken (split between me and my girlfriend). It was very good. It was a little expensive, but it was very delicious, and I highly recommend it!

This is yet another asian restaurant in Cincy that lacks an identity-- is it Thai food? Is it Japanese? Is it Vietnamese? I wish it would make up its mind. When I recently dined at Wild Ginger, I decided to go the Thai route. My dad and I ordered a Pad Thai and Lemongrass veggie stir-fry to split. Both entrees met our expectations but weren't anything special. The stir-fry was a little on the salty side. The portions were pretty big, though; we ended up with quite a bit left over. Maybe next time I'll treat it as a Japanese restaurant and go for the hibachi, because the Thai route was mediocre.

Wild Ginger wasnt even on my radar... the mister and I originally planned to eat somewhere in rookwood spontaneously after a concert but since it was Saturday night, everywhere was packed. Wild Ginger was pretty packed too, but it looks like theyre very willing to accommodare large parties if reserved in advanced and despite the people, we still found parking in the back lot. As promised, we got seated within 20 minutes, and there always seemed to be room at both the drink bar and sushi bar. BF had the sauvignon blanc and I had the moscato, which was super refreshing and delightfully sweet. Wine list seemed pretty diverse, although their cocktail list seemed pretty short. They have your typical Asian beers and sake too (lychee and fuji apple, hot sake included). For food, we shared the spicy tuna roll, which was honestly a huge disappointment compared to aroma, cloud 9, mr. Sushi, or drunken bento. Although, sashimi platters are even an option here, so props to you guys I guess. Theres an extensive list of stir fry and noodle options, which you can choose beef, chicken, vegetarian, sea bass, scallop, shrimp, etc., and choose a spice level between one and ten. Boyfriend had the drunken noodle with scallops, spice level 3. I tried it and there was barely a kick so put your number at a 4-5 if you love sriracha or spicy. They were very generous with their amount of protein. Same goes for mine, pad see ew with beef. Vegetables were delicious, but I wish they had cooked noodles a tad bit more al dente. Service was on point all night and super fast. Our server especially were soooo patient with the table next to us, who gave the server a hard time after not realizing most thai dishes uses fish sauce... lol. Props to you dude. Tldr; good drunken noodle and pad see ew, scallops are good. Sushi not so much. Get their wine! Service is great.

The food was pretty good and fresh, but not amazing. For the price it seemed like it could have been more or better food. Service was fine, I think I saw a famous author there which was cool. On a side note, two people can easily share the stir fry dishes. -shrug- eh

Wild Ginger offers a pleasant atmosphere with some intriguing art work. Servers are friendly, but I can't help but notice a bit of a language barrier, and perhaps not the kind you would expect. Try any stir-fry with beef, it is delicious. Chicken dishes are tasteless. I don't know what they're doing to their chicken but it's wrong and it has no flavor. Chicken Pad Thai is a whiff, which means I can't rate this place any higher than average. Sushi is hit or miss. Some are good, some are boring. I just think you can do better with other sushi places in the surrounding area.

Nice selection on the menu from stir fry to sushi. They also have a hibachi table. Nice decor and friendly staff. Small parking lot behind.

This place is just... ok. The pad thai was very bland and on the sweeter side. For the price ($13) for tofu pad thai, not a good deal... The sashimi deluxe regular was ok. The portion was decent but it wasn't anything I would rave about. The ambience was good.

Went here with another couple on a weekend night. Glad we had reservations! Definitely a must on the weekends. First time here, and though it was okay I don't think I will be back. I did not like the waiter. He was not very friendly and really kind of snobby. When I asked him his opinion between two dishes, he had this attitude - like, can't you decide? "They're really two different dishes." Other waiters at other restaurants at least reply in a pleasant tone of voice. Not him. The food was okay. Nothing special. Another tidbit - the restaurant emptied out. We hadn't seen our friends in a while and probably stayed past our welcome. BUT - the restaurant was practically empty! They stopped filling our waters - hint, hint - they definitely wanted us to leave.

This was my first visit to Wild Ginger. It was carry-out and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. They patiently answered my questions about the menu items. My personal trainer recommended I try Wild Ginger. I ordered Teriyaki Vegetables with Chicken. The dish was very good. The Vegetables were fresh & not mushy. The chicken was recognizable as Authentic Chicken! not like some storefront Asian carryouts that use some form of white chopped scraps of something shipped from somewhere and pass it off as chicken . Sorry, I digress.... my meal was very good. I will be back.

Boyfriend and I went for lunch. We were seated right away and service was great. We ordered cream cheese wontons and shrimp tempura for appetizers which were both delicious. (5 stars) Our main meals, however, weren't as great. I ordered Wild Ginger Fried Rice with Chicken (no broccoli, because ew and level 4) and everything except for the chicken was delicious. The chicken tasted so bland and very freezer burnt. I was so disappointed because I was looking for the same exact Thai dish I ate up at Thai 9 in Dayton without having to experience the longer drive. My boyfriend ordered the seafood mix Teriyaki stir fry. He didn't like his dish either. (1 star) Needless to say, we probably will not be going back for a long time.

I went to Wild Ginger with some friends. The food was good. The staff was friendly. They didn't have the ingredients for a mojito that my friend ordered so that was a bit disappointing, but not a big deal. My friends enjoyed the sushi they got. I had a simple order of shrimp fried rice. I ordered it with a 7 spice level (on a scale of 0-10), but did not find it very spicy at all. I think I would go with a 9 next time. I haven't had the hibachi there, so I can't comment on that.

Wild Ginger almost puts me to sleep. It's an almost comically stereotypical Pan-Asian job, with superslick decor that is reminiscent of an upscale chain bar-and-grill and the usual tired mix of Japanese and Thai standards that is so prevalent in Cincinnati. (There's also a pho, which I recall being off-the-mark, and in the back, a teppanyakki room.) The food is relatively fresh, but it is executed in such a bland manner that it barely registers. Most everything that I've tried here in about four visits over about seven years is badly underseasoned-and-spiced. Last time I went with a very basic basil chicken Thai dish. The chicken itself was so flavorless that it almost seemed like it had been boiled whole--with no marinade, no seasoning, no nothing--and just reheated, and the thin sauce made little impression. A mango curry at our table was somewhat better, with some evident development of flavor, but nothing to write home about. There has been one tiny exception: On this last occasion, we sampled a single two-piece order of nigiri. I think it was whitefish. That one bite represented very fresh, tasty sushi, at least by Cincinnati standards. The upscale pretensions of Wild Ginger are somewhat laughable, given how generic the overall experience is. Many of the diners seem overdressed, apparently out to see and be seen by their Hyde Park neighbors, and this observation is coming from someone who complains frequently about folks dressing like bums in good high-end restaurants. When non-Hyde Park Cinci-area folks poke fun at the highfalutin-ness of Hyde Park, they're most likely thinking of a scene like this. And big surprise--you get to pay a bit more for the privilege of being part of it. Hyde Park at its most complacent.

I'd eaten at Wild Ginger once before, and had a "meh' dish, but this visit was much different. First off, we went on Easter...do you know how hard it is to find an open restaurant on Easter? I didn't until we tried. Happily, Wild Ginger was open, so we decided to try it. The BF was so happy to see Pho on the menu (his favorite Asian dish). I was happy to see a huge selection of vegetarian dishes. I remembered the last time my dish was "meh" I had ordered a noodle dish...not sure why as I am not a huge noodle dish lover. This time, I made sure to avoid ordering the same thing by getting a rice dish. I ordered the vegetable garden stir fry. It had a wide variety of fresh vegetables and plenty of good ones (including asparagus and zucchini...my two favorite vegetables.) It had a brown sauce, but wasn't at all thick or heavy as some brown sauces can be. The BF said the Pho was some of the best he'd ever had with a very flavorful broth and filled with tons of chicken. In fact, there was so much stuff in his bowl, he didn't have any room to add the extras that come on the side. Service was good and we managed to snag a place right in front; however, it was early and Easter...so there probably wasn't too much competition. I do know that they can get very busy and that, while they have a parking lot, it doesn't hold enough spaces for all the patrons. I did see a sign that you could park in the Busken lot, so that helps, since parking in this area tends to be at a premium.

This is one of my go to places for a relaxing evening of great food and drink. I first fell in love with this place because of the bar and the service. I'm a single diner who likes to sit at the bar at restaurants and this bar, though rather small is rarely crowded. The bartenders here are awesome. They are just very good people that make sure you are taken care of. The bar is right next to the hibachi grill so you do get to observe a lot of fun, celebratory occasions going on. The food is consistently on point. Drunken noodles, Pad Thai and the Sashimi (any type) are my favorite. Bottom line: the whole staff is polite and genuine and the food is perfect. Can't ask for anything more!!

We were very excited to finally get to try Wild Ginger but were disappointed. The shumai was overcooked and for $5, I think they could have given us a few more since they are tiny. The portion sizes in general were a little small. My friend got the Pad Thai and I got the Pad See Ew. We found both dishes to be pretty bland. I attribute this to the lack of sauce. The only benefit I can see in the lack of sauce and smallish portion sizes, is that maybe the dishes are healthier? I personally prefer my Asian fair to be carb overloaded and doused with flavorful sauce. For the price I paid, I could have eaten like a queen somewhere a little less "fancy."

I've been to Wild Ginger twice now when I visit my best friend in Cincy. We're both sushi snobs and always try to find the best places around. Since Hyde Park was close to her house we ended up here for a late lunch about a month after she moved into town. We weren't sure what to expect, but I have to say that the sushi was quite tasty! There was only one roll we ordered that neither of us cared for and didn't finish, and that was just a matter of personal opinion on taste and ingredients. Over the course of my two visits I've tried 9 different types of sushi, the crab rangoons (which tasted freshly made), the lettuce wraps (nicely seasoned and well presented), and several bottles of wine. I don't have one complaint. I would recommend the Rock and Roll and the Sweet Potato roll. I also recommend ordered bottled water, as the tap water has an odd taste.

I've been to nearly every sushi place in Cincinnati and have rarely had a poor experience. Wild Ginger unfortunately came close. The duck dish we ordered was tasty but after ordering a "10" on the spicy scale, it barely had any heat. The 4 sushi rolls we ordered were rather bland, the rice was extremely soggy, and I'm pretty sure the chef forgot to put add in the rice vinegar when he prepared our rolls. I don't think we'll plan on making a trip back here.

Had dinner with a group in their very nice private party room. The room itself would merit 5 stars. They seem to use good quality ingredients, and the prices are certainly in line for the quality and portion sizes, but the beef in my pad thai was tough and chewy, and overall the dish was lacking in flavor. I added a little sesame oil to the portion I brought home, and it improved it considerably. Service for our group of about 20 was decent, although some people had their entrees served long before the accompanying rice came out, and there was a very long wait for the checks. All in all, not a restaurant I'd go out of my way to return to.

My girlfriend and I enjoy Thai/Japanese cuisine and we drove past wild ginger multiple times saying "we should really check this place out." We finally did check it out on a Friday night and we had a fantastic experience. The service was solid. He gave us recommendations and was attentive. What stole the show was the food. They do have hibachi at the WG but we elected to try some sushi and pad Thai. Everything we ordered was delicious. I was extremely full but it left me wanting more. We've tried a bunch of restaurants in the area that are similar to WG, but wild ginger really stole the show for me. The sushi was so good I could have just eaten that and been satisfied.

Having been to Thailand as well as trying almost every Thai restaurant in Cincinnati I say with a lot of confidence that Wild Ginger is not only the best Thai food in Cincinnati but some of the best I've ever had. I have been going here far before the renovations and add-ons of the back and hibachi grills. I have still never had their hibachi because everything else on their menu is just so great. I have tried almost every appetizer and love them all. Both the seaweed salad and crab sunomono are served in martini glasses and are delicious. When I go with my family we usually order a noodle dish (pad thai, siam noodles, or druken noodles), a curry, maybe another kind of stir fry and usually also some sushi. You can go here just for the sushi which is really fancy and delicious. I could go on and on about this place but I feel like I got the point across. I am completely obsessed and have to go everytime I come home to Cincinnati. Can't wait to come when I am home this weekend!

I've never been a fan of the generic "Asian" restaurant. Wild Ginger, unfortunately, is one of these establishments. Its menu suffers from the problem that it wanders in too many different directions. Options range from Japanese, to Thai, to Vietnamese. After my experience at lunch, I am just not convinced that they can do any one of these cuisines that well. I think Stephanie B. said it best below, "I wish [this restaurant] would make up its mind."

    (2)
  • Katie B.

Not impressed at all! This restaurant has gone down hill. The sashimi were very small pieces that looked like leftovers. The tea was a bag, not the good green tea. I could barely understand the waiters because they all spoke Spanish. Not exactly the environment I was looking for in an Asian restaurant. The staff was not friendly and the food was on the low end. I used to love this place but think this may be my last time here.

  • Jim S.

Do not waste your time if you are looking for some "really good" Thai food. I am being generous with 2 stars also!! The carrots in my dish were boiled like my mom used to make(almost mushy) and that turned me off completely. The vibe was a bit presumptuous in my opinion. I will not go back there ever. My dining partner was not at all thrilled with their dish as well. I guess I will have to chalk this one up to experience.. Not at all happy with the food and the service was just okay. Went early on a Friday evening....Nothing else to say.....:-(

  • Ben D.

I made two separate trips to Wild Ginger. The first time, they refused to seat us because it was 15 minutes until they were to close between lunch and dinner. I've never been turned away while an establishment was open. The second time, I went for dinner and had mediocre, dry chicken. The vegetarian options were tofu or vegetables, not tofu and vegetables... And it costs extra for tofu AND vegetables. Next time and all other times I'm in this part of town, I'll go to Lemongrass.

  • Candice F.

Overall just an ok experience. We had the sushi boat for 2, salmon sushi & drunken noodles. We subbed the Cali roll for the Wasabi roll which wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. We had a bottle of the silver sake but no sake glasses were served. Real, not disposable chopsticks would've been a nice touch too. The service was a little slow & we actually had to track down our server to get the check & dessert and/or coffee was never offered which we would've enjoyed.

When I rate a restaurant where I've ordered sashimi, the rating weighs heavily on the quality of the fish. I ordered the Sashimi Deluxe and was not disappointed. I'd give Wild Ginger five stars if it weren't for one thing. The menu says Sashimi Deluxe comes with 18 pieces of sashimi. In my book, imitation crab and egg do NOT count as sashimi. So reduce the number of actual pieces of fish to 14. But hey, I just counted what was on my plate (thank goodness I took a picture!). Fourteen actual pieces of fish, two pieces of shrimp, two pieces of fake crab and 2 egg, that's 20! Still, it was NOT 18 pieces of fish and it should have been. Okay, now on to the good stuff. The sashimi was amazing! It melted in my mouth and I am guilty of making yummy sounds all through lunch. I always save my favorite for the last piece, but today it was impossible to choose. Seriously, each piece was as tasty and velvety as the next. It didn't matter which I saved for last. I'm not sure that has ever happened before! The miso soup was fine. The Wild Ginger roll, with fried scallops and cucumber topped with crab, salmon and honey wasabi was simply delicious. A nice, plentiful serving of plum wine topped it off. Service was pleasant and quick! We will definitely be back!

I love this joint! Bartender Rebecca is the best. I would encourage you to sit at the bar and chat it up with her. Also the Thai dishes are such a great deal. The sushi is much pricier and less filling. So definitely go the Thai route. However, the sushi is good (I really enjoy the Venus Roll for sushi and Ginger Pad Thai for dinner).

I used to live with Wild Ginger practically in my backyard and got spoiled by the convenience of carryout sushi so close at hand. After the renovations there is more of a reason to go and dine-in now that there is so much more room inside. Delicious Asian food and a comfortable atmosphere. I definitely recommend Wild Ginger on anyone's tour of Asian restaurants in Hyde Park.

One thai-worthy night, we came here for dinner. Wild Ginger is more of an Asian Fusion restaurant than traditional, and if you know that going in, you'll have an awesome meal. The menu had several specialty cocktails. To start, we had a mango mojito, a cucumber basil martini, and fried tofu. Both drinks were heavy on the liquor. My mojito was refreshing, but the pulpy mango at the bottom made it difficult to drink. Perhaps strain it next time? As we endugled in the fried tofu, we had some questions about ingredients on the menu. When asking about a specific word, unsure if this was a kind of veggie or seasoning, the server looked completely baffled and had no idea. After running back to the kitchen, he still wasn't sure. This was a bit unsettling. We also asked if the stir fry was cooked with meat stock or vegetable stock. The server responded: "Fish stock, so it's vegetarian." Er... right. The food arrived in massive portions. We had mango curry with fried tofu and steamed rice, and the Spicy Pad Char. Everything was devoured. I even ended up taking home half of my mango curry, which made for a full meal the next day. The portion sizes are definitely worth the quality and price. While the server lacked knowledge about the food, he was very friendly and kept track of the time when we mentioned we had an event to go to after dinner. With a large menu, lots of specialty items, and a clean, posh atmosphere I'll definitely be back to Wild Ginger. Price per person: $20.00

This place has the best Thai curry that I've found in Cincinnati -- and I've tried a lot of Cincy Thai restaurants! Like most Cincinnati Thai restaurants, they have odd ingredients like broccoli and too-sweet carrots in their curry, but once you have them take those out, the curry is very reminiscent of what I used to get back in NYC. If they could match NYC flavor, I'd give them 5 stars. I also think they have some of the best specialty roll sushi in Cincinnati as well. With great sushi and curry, Wild Ginger has become one of my top 3 go-to takeout places.

Too expensive - the food is good but I'd rather have RuThai's. You pay a few bucks more for a prettier place to eat... They also didn't have the coconut creme brulee which was still on the menu but they don't have it anymore I guess.

I was happy to try this restaurant because I love Thai food and we have very few memorable ethnic restaurants in Cincinnati. The sauces were very watery with overcooked chicken and salmon curries. Vegetables did not seem fresh either. When we complained, the waiter smiled. When I really complained, waiter said there was no manager available. Maybe we should have stuck to sushi or stir fry. Disappointing. The coconut chicken soup was good.

Wild Ginger is a solid choice for Thai cuisine in Cincinnati. It's a little overpriced, but the servers are friendly and there is a large menu sure to satisfy any picky eater. They offer a unique selection of appetizers- spring rolls, summer rolls, winter rolls- it's like a tour-de-seasons! I'm a huge red curry fan, and Wild Ginger's curry dish was delicious! The Hyde Park location is excellent, and the interior is cozy and comfortable. 2 thumbs up!

Been there 4 or 5 times. Sushi is good as is Pad Thai. Wine selection mediocre. Tables are pretty close together, but overall food is worth the trip, price is reasonable. FYI takeout was disappointing, I'm not sure it came from the same place, I ordered calameri and got 6 or 7 small pieces. Therefore would recommend eatin

Our experience at Wild Ginger was mixed. The sushi was mediocre, and the Tom Yum soup (which is normally my favorite part of a meal at a Thai restaurant) was just plain gross. But the red curry-based Spicy Green Beans with beef (basically Pad Prik Keong), the Sizzling Scallops, and the Buddha's Feast were all excellent. Fresh, flavorful, spicy without being overwhelming (at a spiciness level of 3). Basically, I'd recommend sticking to the Thai entrees.

While this place was not the worse I have had better. My friend and I went on a Monday night. We were seated near the bar area. My friend had the mango curry and she said it was ok, but after was not feeling well. I had sushi: sweet potato roll and spicy crab salad roll. Neither tasted like it should. The sweet potato roll was overpowered by cream cheese. The spicy crab salad roll did not have fresh cucumber. When you visit the web page it states "the most hip Thai and Sushi restaurant in Hyde Park, with our award winning of the best interior design and the most cozy ambiance by Cincinnati Magazine. At Wild Ginger, you will discover a unique combination of our authentic Thai food and wide ranges of different styles of sushi." Sorry but I did not feel like I was in a cozy atmosphere. This place is more for drinks and to be seen (I guess). I will not be back.

The Hee Mah Roll is awesome. Highly recommended. I've only been to the Hibachi side of the restaurant, so I can't speak for the other side, but I've always had a great time. How can you have a bad time with an organized food fight with flames shooting everywhere is taking place inches from your face?

I have never eaten so much sushi in my life. I am far from being a sushi/sashimi connoisseur, but I have tried several of the places around my area (Hampton Roads, VA)...this was by far the best I've had. I have never even been tempted to try sashimi based on my sushi experience, but that changed at Wild Ginger. I was floored. (Try the Yellowtail) We had the Hee Ma, Volcano, Tuna Indy, Tony's, and the King of the Ocean rolls. The Hee Ma was the favorite, but all were better than the best I'd tried to date. (this is not an exaggeration, and is probably more than a little sad). I will return next time I'm in town.

This is one of my favorite places in Cinci for sushi! Generous rolls in a wide variety! Unfortunately they do not offer half price nights like many other local establishments, I do not mind paying full price for this sushi! Meals are also good, but have not had many of them as I always tend to lean towards the sushi.

I had high hopes for this place, but was a bit disappointed in their sushi. I haven't tried their hibachi, but I can imagine that hibachi is their feature. I got a sashimi plate and it came with egg... I'm no sushi connoisseur, and I don't know the actual definition of sashimi, but when I order sashimi, I prefer fish... not an omelet. That being said, the fish was good.... good enough for 3 stars. The sake was good... but I have yet to go to a restaurant where I thought the sake was 'bad'. I also had the crab rangoon... good but I've had better... Same with service.. good but I've had better. The was nothing blatantly wrong with this place, but I can't say its on my list of places I'd like to try again. HOWEVER, they do offer half price sushi for lunch Wed.-Sunday.... so maybe its a better lunch than dinner place.

When the menu includes all styles of east Asian cuisine it usually means that everything is very mediocre, if not just bad. This is the case at Wild Ginger. And to make things worse, all that food inventory means higher prices. Not worth it at all. Tables are cramped and apparently they have teppanyaki in the back. Sensory overload. I had a Salmon California Roll which was not only overpriced, but also pretty bad. Over half of the pieces had gristle/connective tissues. That irks me big time! The prices of the sushi rolls were definitely more expensive than comparable restaurants. The Pad Thai was also pretty lame. The tofu tasted stale. I'm not sure how they accomplished that. There's just too much competition in the area to go back to Wild Ginger. It'd be great if they refocused on one style of food instead of doing everything poorly.

Good sushi is hard to find, y'all. And it's even worse if you're a cheapskate sushi snob like yours truly, which pretty much doesn't make sense the more I think about it (I have my reasons). The good thing is, Wild Ginger is one of my favorite spots north of the river for quality sushi and excellent Vietnamese/Thai food, and it's well worth the frequent wait, though maybe not more than 30 minutes or so. I remember back in the good ole days before they expanded and added hibachi grills, which are my least favorite feature of any given Asian restaurant these days. I told you: I'm a snob. If you go to Wild Ginger and get fried rice, you're sorely missing out. The sushi is fresh and well-made, and even on busy nights never seems to get too backed up. We went with a large party one evening and ordered several boats of rolls cooked and raw, all of them came out all at once in beautiful sync. The pad thai is also quite good, and the Pho is rocking. I'm still amazed that pho is such a tough dish to find in this city. Seems like only a few places do it, and fewer still do it well--and Wild Ginger is one of them. For our veg friends, Wild GInger has a great array of vegetarian appetizers and dishes available, so they don't have to resort to just salads and side dishes. Service has always been excellent every time I've been, which I'm discovering is more and more of a rarity just about everywhere. Price is a little above my usual range, but the sushi is quality enough to let that slide. I'd avoid the hibachi and stick with one of their charming little table and chairs sets, but it can get a little overly cozy on a packed evening. If you have personal space issues or a big booty (again, like yours truly), be forewarned. Wild Ginger was one of the very first Asian places I got to try in Cincinnati, and it's still one of my favorites. I've never had a bad meal there, and it's such a warm, inviting place to get together with friends and enjoy a really delicious, quality meal together. I've found a closer spot to get my immediate sushi fix, but for special occasions, Wild Ginger is a great place to go.

We enjoyed our dinner at Wild Ginger. The service has a high class, Hyde Park-y feel to it with a formal, distant friendliness. They were attentive without being obtrusive, and it really couldn't have been better. I'm not saying I expect or want that style of service everywhere I go, but it felt very appropriate here. The menu has great variety. I'm told the sushi is excellent, I may try that next time, but I love Thai cuisine and there were so many intriguing choices on the menu, I had to go for one of those. I opted for the 7 flavors stir fry (or something like that) as it was hot and featured Hoison Sauce. It was fine - fresh ingredients, a relatively flavorful sauce, though I wish they'd add some corn starch, it was too runny to scoop up and pour over the rice, and a generous portion. And whatever you order, get the brown rice instead of white. It had more flavor and a very pleasant sticky yet crisp texture. The food prices are right in line with the cuisine, the area and the atmosphere, but the bump on alcohol was a little much, more than 3x store prices (ex $28 a bottle for Chateau St Michelle Riesling vs 8.99 in all the stores). But hey, no one was holding a gun to our heads to drink.

The decor is green, upscale, and calming. There is a nice garden patio with seating out back. The bar is very nice, and they have a good selection of liquor on display. The service was good but not great. However, I will freely admit we showed up about 45 minutes before closing. The sushi was made well and you get a generous portion of wasabi. I don't like to have to ask for more. I will note though that the vegetarian options are limited and the prices may be a tad bit on the high side. I was very happy with my dish, though it was a touch more sweet than I generally like. I was impressed that they made it to the spice level I requested. Most places do not serve their food spicy no matter what level you ask for. They have a respectable selection of sake for most people, but I would like to see more. I have yet to find a place in Cincinnati with a truly great selection of sake, but I am working on it.

I have been here often and I feel like the quality has declined over the years. Pros: 1) Pretty decent service 2) Nice atmosphere 3) Delicious Red Curry Cons: 1) I think its over-priced for the quality of the food 2) The hibachi chicken we had was still slightly pink in the center Considering all of the options for thai in the area, this place is at best... average

You know, I'm really not a sushi snob. I love a good spider roll, crunchy roll, the crazier the better! It's just that I have yet to find a great sushi place in Cincinnati. My brother-in-law and I went here because he'd heard it had the best sushi in town. Great waitress, good drinks. We ordered so much sushi and sashimi they brought out the boat for the two of us (whoops... guess we were hungry!). And it was....fine. The fish seemed to be of good quality, the sauces were fine, it was rolled well. Just not as great as my beloved Shiki Sushi in Durham, NC. The ice cream dessert was super fun, though. Little ice cream balls (green tea, mango and red bean) covered in mochi, I think. Make sure to save room for them!

Zomg this was the worst "Asian food" I have ever had. EVER! Ok so first of all, I always order eggplant when I go to Thai/Chinese/Indian places. I'm not sure why, but I love it with all my heart. Understandably, these different types of cuisines will offer eggplant prepared and flavored in different ways. I never mind and it's always yummy. Well, at Wild Ginger, it is not. I ordered a simple eggplant and other random veggie stir-fry, and 1) the sauce was too liquidy (probably could have been fixed with some cornstarch); 2) the eggplant was rubbery and watery with no flavor. This is a rookie eggplant-cooking mistake -- one that I made all the time when I was first learning to prepare it at home. But at a restaurant I would expect better. Finally, to help support my case :), I was dining with a group of mostly Asians. They ordered things like other stir-frys, pho, and sushi, and were also quite disappointed. I've noticed that a lot of prior reviewers liked this place a lot, I'm just not sure why. I guess my review would most benefit those who have sampled all types of Asian food and know what "authentic" tastes like.

I have been driving by this place for quite some time and have wanted to try it, especially with the recommendation of a fellow yelper! The friend I went with loves this place (it is one of her favorite sushi places in Cincy)! I was able to get us reservations for Friday night, surprisingly! I liked the inside- think upscale asian decor with neat woven fabric seats. We decided we wanted to stick with sushi for the evening, so we ordered edamame as our appetizer, and split three rolls. Oh man- it was so much food! We ordered two specialty rolls and one "regular" roll. The two specialty rolls we ordered were the King Of The Ocean Roll and the Venus Roll. I especially was a fan of the Venus Roll which has lobster, seaweed salad, shrimp, avocado, and honey wasabi sauce. Yum! One of the specialty rolls was much bigger than the other, and the "regular" roll was also pretty big. It would have been nice if they listed how many pieces were in each roll, so you could better plan how much to get. The sushi did taste very fresh and the edamame wasn't overcooked, which is a pet peeve of mine. Parking was hard to find- street parking on Edwards is probably just as easy. It was super packed, and I really enjoyed the sushi. I would love to go back to try their non-sushi options!

Wild Ginger is my favorite pan-Asian restaraunt in Cincinnati. The service is attentive and the food is delicious. I've had a variety of the sushi a couple of curries as well as the stir-fry. The portions are generous so there is usually enough for another meal or to share. I highly recommend Wild Ginger.

In they Hyde park Mount Lookout area there seems to be an epidemic of sushi is sushi is sushi. This is also prevalent in the burbs. It is disturbing when a Thai restaurant can make sushi as well as a japanese restaurant. It is also disturbing when Chinese people work at the sushi counter of a japanese restaurant, koreans make sushi at a thai place, and hispanics make the sushi at wild ginger. If I was in any city but Cincinnati this would confuse me, however in Cincinnati it appears the sushi eating public tends to be 20-30 year old Caucasians that tend to stay in the midwest and never leave. This leads to an interesting phenomenon in which as long as someone looks asian they can open an asian restaurant and make pan asian dishes. It blows my mind. All this being said, the specialty sushi at wild ginger is much better than that at other restaurants. Its more creative and flavorful. They probably suffer a bit because they don't do the half off sushi but it is worth that little extra. When I go, I usually order their version of pho. It is pretty decent as a noodle dish, I just wish they wouldn't call it pho. This is mostly because this dish is NOTHING like real pho. If they let it stand on its own feet as some crazy concoction made by someone to imitate a traditional asian dish for white people it would do just fine. Just don't go in expecting pho and you'll be happy. Why do I make such a big deal? Well most importantly they use the wrong kind of noodles. They may look kind of like pho noodles, but they aren't. Not sure who is suppling their noodles but I have a feeling they get just generic noodles that can be put in multiple dishes. Second the meat in the pho is the wrong cuts of beef, don't contain any of the beef balls, and have a surprising lack of vegetables. Oh you get the dish of fresh veggies to put in like any other respectable Asian restaurant, but their is a surprising lack of anything else in the soup. All in all, go for the pho, but don't expect to get real pho and you'll be ok. Oh and order some sushi while your at it. Its good, not great, but better than the competition.

Park on their private lot. Walk along the side of the restaurant...you can smell it. The sizzle. You know you're in for something good. And it is. Delicious food. Generous glasses of plum wine. Absolutely delicious!

This place rocks for sashimi! The chirashi is a steal for large, fresh, chunks of fish including tuna, salmon, hamachi, roe and my personal fave, super white fish or escolar. It's a milky white color, with a rich creamy flavor that melts on your tongue. They recently stopped offering chirashi on their dinner menu but I think it is still available for lunch. For dinner recently, we both had the sashimi. It was delicious and fresh, a beautiful assortment of fish garnished with daikon and mint leaves. I'm hailing from San Francisco, DC and Chicago, and this is one of my favorite sashimi restaurants ever! It's a great value for the price, the fish is generous and fresh, the ambiance is pleasant and soothing, and the service solid. I can't say much for their Thai entrees because I'm so in love with the sashimi, I hardly ever order anything else on the menu!

So when I do the Thai/Asian fusion thing, I usually hit up either Bangkok Bistro or Green Papaya, but this time I decide to try Wild Ginger because I wanted to see how it looked after the renovation. I had crispy pad thai beef - spice level 7. My wife had cashew nut chicken - spice level 1 (basically none). Crispy pad thai. Meh. I've had better. Much better. The noodles were not quit crispy and my spice level 7 was barely even spicy. Actually it was like I asked for the level 1. Worse than Green Papaya's and Bangkok Bistro's in my opinion. Actually worse than Blue Elephant as well. Can't recommend it. My wife actually enjoyed her dish. She liked the flavor of the sauce and the choice of vegetables that came with it. Service was very attentive (almost too much) and we were pleased with it. Probably won't be going back at least for a while with other more enjoyable choices in the area.

Thai restaurant that tries to integrate a little Japanese and Chinese into its menu. Wait...no. It has a full-on teppanyaki bar ready for the consumer. I've been here a few times so what I say is not just biased one or two occasions. First of all, the Thai food. If you want your Thai food to be super sweet than by all means come here. Spice is not something they've heard of because ordering a 7 means nothing. Taste-wise, nothing special, not the best, not the worst. What gives it the low rating is their teppanyaki bar. I don't know if it's just lunch time that is bad but the chef was not very good at all. Maybe it was a one time thing and he was new so I'll let that slide. When the food was served, that's when you knew something was up. The fried rice was full of butter and oil to the point where I don't know whether you should eat it or get a paper towel and let it soak first. A friend ordered chicken that was not close to being cooked through. Another friend ordered a shrimp meal, which consisted of 7 tiny shriveled shrimp. Luckily, I ordered a half-half meal of chicken and shrimp and received an order of undercooked chicken and 3.5 shrimp (yes, the chef actually cut 1 shrimp in half and gave the other half to the other half order). If you want Thai food, there are too many options even in a mile radius to be coming here. I'd suggest Green Papaya.

We've had a few good dates here. The first time we were totally decked out, so they made sure to give us a front table at the front window. They're smart enough to know that the eye candy will draw in a crowd. I get stir-fry and rice, the food is good but nothing special. The atmosphere is quite nice though, and the staff is always very friendly. They're also located right behind a 24-hour Busken Bakery that once saved me from a 3am bagel craving. I should go write a review for them right now.

First, love the decor. Colorful and subtle, with woody earth tones, this is a wonderful place with wonderful food. I haven't eaten off the hibachi, but the rest is great. Sushi: fun, artfully presented and delicious. I love their edamame as an appetizer too. They have plenty of vegetarian options for me too (I eat fish). Their noodles are tasty with lots of yummy vegetables. My whole family loves it there, and they dont all get sushi either. I would go very often because I have very good memories of their food. I would highly recommend.

I've been to Wild Ginger a few times now and I have to say it is one of the best sushi/hibachi restaurants in Cincinnati. The Hibachi side is fun, the chefs are always lively, and it's great for special occasions with friends. The sushi/thai menu is creative and delicious and perfect for date night. My husband and I went there on a Friday night - we called ahead and had no wait so it started out right. We had their signature Hee-ma and sushi bomb rolls and the budda delight; the yellow curry was friggin amazing. I'm not a huge curry lover but it had the perfect mix of curry and coconut milk and spice - the veggies were fresh and cooked to perfection - aka not mushy and not raw ;) The rolls are huge and full of fish so even though I can go down the street to Dancing Wasabi for half price rolls, I'd rather pay full price for full sushi. The rolls were $14 a piece so not too bad in price anyways. I agree with other reviews that overall price might be on the high side for portion size, however, it's great service, good atmosphere, and better than food than most of their competitors in my humble opinion. :)

Went out to Wild Ginger expecting pretty much what I got. I only tried the sushi and sashimi so I can't speak for the habachi grill. The sushi and sashimi were both good, a little more pricy than some places around town and not any better from what I can tell. But the setting was nice, a good date atmosphere. The boat they brought the sushi out in was very pretty and made the table next to me jealous. Parking lot is kind of difficult to navigate, it's a little cramped, but I was able to find a spot without much trouble. Service was pretty good although it seemed like the waitress didn't understand that I wanted to change my order so I got soup instead of salad, but that was more funny than it was annoying. The place didn't win me over and make it a new place to frequent, but the food was good.

Very expensive for very low quality food. The hot tea is just a mug of hot water and a cheap tea bag. The entrees Pad Thai and fried rice are extremely sugary, like a dessert mixed in. Nasty. When I said something, they didn't even want to rectify it, saying that "of course it's sweet". My mom I left hungry with an $18 bill for our tiny unappealing appetizers. I am writing this from another restaurant where we will finally get something good to eat.

Good selection of Asian food (Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese) that is well prepared ... nice decor. Noticed it also had hibachi grill tables. Little pricey for what you get compared to some other local establishments, but the quality is worth it for some items on the menu.

DE-BA-CLE So, last Saturday, I had a friend in town that wanted to eat at Wild Ginger. I hadn't been since fall 2011, and thought that it was time to go back. My trip in the fall was great. My trip in May, not so much. We called at 7:30 and requested seats at the hibachi table, they have us a reservation for 5 at 8:45. So we waited until 8:45, but when we got there, there was a large group taking up both hibachi tables. We were told that it would be 30 minutes if we wanted to wait or we could have a 20% discount if we sat at a regular table. Reluctantly, we took the table with the 20% discount. (Why, did they give us the 8:45 reservation if they had such a large reservation for a birthday party? It is insulting.) From there the experience only got worse. It took nearly two hours to to get out of the restaurant, with 30-40 minutes to get and pay our checks. Our service could not have been worse if our server had been trying to ruin our evening. I ordered a Wild Ginger Roll, a yellow tail roll and shrimp tempura. My Wild Ginger roll had the chewiest scallops I have ever eaten, and my shrimp tempura was like fried shrimp from the Golden Corral. Lastly, the restaurant offers a 10% discount for cash, which seems like a disreputable business practice. If it comes in with no paper trail there is no need to pay taxes, wink wink. Fine, 10% discount, we all decided to pay in cash, partially for the 10%, partially because we weren't planning to leave a tip and didn't want to have to call Amex the next day if a tip got added. Surprise, no 10% discount, 2 hours of our lives, and chewy seafood. Worst Thai experience ever, and I've eaten at Lotus of Siam.

rediculously overrated. Service sucked and the food wasn't anything to write home about. In fact, I wouldn't even waste a text message on telling anyone about Wild Ginger. Remember: just cuz it looks nice and upscale doesn't mean it is. You can shine a turd all day, it's still a turd.

The sushi was great, very fresh and delicious and I loved the presentation. The service was good. The wine list was short and too expensive. The $28 bottle we had was $8.99 at Kroger. The ambiance is very casual and family oriented. I would not recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner.

most disgusting lunch ever! I sent food back and it took forever to get it back. The manager was rude, making excuses for why it came the way it came without any apologies. When I got it back it was so disgusting that I could not even stomach eating it. Nobody checked back us to see if it was even okay! I didn't eat it at all! They came by and took my plate and charged me for food I wouldn't feed my dog! DISGUSTING!!! I will never eat here again!!! They don't even deserve the one star I gave them!!! Save yourself the disaster by picking another place to eat!!!

I travel a lot to Cincy for business and I take my clients out to lunch/dinner. So I figured since I was in the HP area lets try this Sushi place with a group of 4 people. We got seated and was ready to order some Sushi, but our "very-low talker" server told use they don't have any today. All of us had this WTF look, he was terrible and didn't know anything else about the menu, plus it was so damn hard to hear what he was trying to say. So the only thing available was Chinese food, but was really wanting sushi instead. Anyways, we should have known that any place that serves Chinese and Japanese food together can't do anything well. The food was terrible, we order a 5 level hot and it was inconsistent, the noodles are watery and overcooked. Never again, the Elephant and Green Papaya is the best choice.

I was torn in writing this review. 1 star for the service, 4 stars for the food. That's how we end up with a 2. While the Red Roll is to die for, the service makes me wanna die. Previously a frequent visitor to Wild Ginger, my last visit was my last ever as I was accosted by a patron for taking up a table for too long. He apparently was told by the waitress his wait in line was my fault?!?! When I asked the waitress, was told not to worry about him because he "didn't tip very well". (Please keep in mind this was a Tuesday night, not a weekend and I wasn't at the table for an excessive amount of time). When the manager was brought over and I explained my frustration in the situation, no apology was offered and my companion and I left with our tales between our legs never to set foot at Wild Ginger again.

Service is pretty good here, and if you stay away from the teppanyaki, I think you'll be rather satisfied. I ordered the duck and fried rice here several times and have been pleased. Like other reviews said, their food is not spicy, and what would be considered a 3/10 in other restaurants would be rated about an 8/10 at Wild Ginger. One time, a group of friends decided to try the half-off teppanyaki lunch special, and it was very underwhelming. Our chef needs to go back to teppanyaki school because he shot a Chris Bosh-like 1/16 when trying to fling little bits of food into our mouths, and he broke so many eggs that he had to use pick out the shells out of one to make our fried rice. What's even more unappetizing is that you see how much butter and soy sauce goes into your food, and you begin to wonder how something with so much salt and grease can still taste that bad. I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of teppanyaki in the first place. So if you are, then you still might like this place. But don't get the shrimp because only get 3-4 pieces.

I really enjoyed it. I'm surprised at how many people consider this a sushi place. To me it came off as a great Thai place that happens to serve sushi. But whatever you call it, it was very good, and my sister and wife loved the martinis.

Traditionally, I'm not a fan of Thai food. So when my roommate suggested we check out Wild Ginger for dinner a few weeks ago, I was pessimistic. She assured me that Wild Ginger had offerings on the menu that weren't strictly Thai (Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese, to be exact) so I agreed to go along and try it out. Our meal started off well, we ordered the Edamame and received a lightly salted generous portion of the soy beans. We also ordered the chicken lettuce wraps, which I think have since been removed from the menu. Don't worry, you aren't missing anything, PF Chang's simple version is tastier than Wild Ginger's old dish anyways. I ordered the Steamed Sea Bass, which was light but I found it was overpowered by the ginger sauce that came with it. My roommate said her Pad Thai was some of the best she'd ever eaten, and she's a Denver, Colorado born self-proclaimed Pad Thai connoisseur. She ordered a level "six" on the dish and said her meal had the perfect heat, but I was blown away by the spice when I sampled it, talk about fiery! I wanted to sample Wild Ginger's sushi so I ordered a California Roll after my entre had been cleared. I was pleased with the freshness of the roll and I didn't even need to dunk it in soy to enjoy (my usual method, I'm not very refined). For the amount of food we received our meal price was very reasonable, my bass was less than $15 and our huge bowl of Edamame was $4. We had to wait to get a table on a Wednesday evening; this place is a favorite of locals. The restaurant is very small; too, we had to wait outdoors on the sidewalk. Parking can also be an issue, we got a street spot right out in front but saw diners parking in the Aveda School's lot across the street. Wear whatever you want to Wild Ginger; we saw everything from jeans to business attire.

I've always said, any restaurant that tries to serve multiple types of Asian cuisine is likely to suck at all of them. Wild Ginger didn't prove me wrong. I stuck with Thai cuisine on this visit. The Tom Ka Gai soup was thick and creamy - which is very strange. The carrots in the Pad See Ew were overcooked, tasting more like what you eat in an American pot roast. Far from authentic, this place is nothing to write home about. Try someplace else - somewhere that specializes in one cuisine.

Wild Ginger is right around the corner from me, and it has quickly become a staple in my Cincinnati dining. I've been here numerous times, both eating in and getting take-out, and I've yet to be disappointed. We always start out with different types of sushi for appetizers; they have real sushi chefs who prepare the sushi on site and it's always fresh, not too fishy for those who don't like a fishy taste. My favorite is their noodles, although I can honestly say I've yet to try anything that I didn't really enjoy here. They also ask you how spicy you'd like them to prepare your dish, so you can personalize your meal exactly how you'd like it. Wild Ginger is currently expanding at its current location but they are still open (thank goodness!) and I highly recommend it.

Really adorable on the inside, great for dates. The red curry with tofu was delicious! The server was very friendly. Great location.

I am a big fan of this type of cuisine and must say last night was a very bad experience. I have eaten here in the past and it has always been pretty good. Although this time the sushi was bland and tasted like it wasnt fresh. The server didnt bring out the soy sauce that we requested until about half way through our sushi. I also ordered some shrimp shumai and it seemed like the shrimp had gone bad as well. I am incredibly disappointed and pray that this was a one time occurance, but I will never go back in fear of getting sick. Not once did the waiter ask if our food was good and when she noticed that we ate about 1/8 of what was brought to us wasnt eaten, she still didnt ask or offer up anything.

Just had dinner here with my girlfriend. She needed a "win" after a Saint Patricks day gone awry. We did some classic overeating this time. We started out with the steamed shrimp shumai, edamame, and the baked mussels. A lot of places will deep fry their shumai, but i think shumai is better steamed and is a slightly healthier option. The baked mussels were prepared with jalapeño and spicy mayo, they were also delicious. We moved on to the boat for two. Their sushi was fantastic. Its some of the freshest sushi I have had in CIncinnati. The miso soup was a little bland. I would suggest the salad in place of the soup. After eating everything we were both stuffed. I then ordered the fried cheesecake with ice-cream. This dessert is the biggest reason I'm writing this review. It has a surprisingly light flavor. Chocolate sauce and caramel sauce was drizzled over a healthy scoop of vanilla ice-cream, whipped cream and 4 slices of the deep fried cheesecake. We were both blown away by this dessert. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy.

It costs so much, but IT'S.SO.GOOD. I've never tried the hibachi grill (which is new), so I was surprised to read the previous post about a bad experience with that. Stick to the front section. The sushi is worth every penny. We usually get green curry w/ tofu - yum. I've also tried the pineapple fried rice - really really good.

Nice place for upscale asian flavors. Good appetizers, the sushi is so-so. a sushi purist would lose their mind here, with how un-sushi some of their rolls can be (mexican roll, anyone?) All the food i've had has been pretty good, and I've always left feeling happy and full, despite the prices being unnecessarily high.

Wife and I decided to visit this place despite some of the bad press. The food was great. The sushi was fresh and this is coming from someone that lived in San Francisco for over 10 years. Also, the service was decent. I definitely will visit this place again.

My first visit here, with a friend who had been before. I remember the various establishments this spots has been, and I was surprised at how intimate it felt. Comfortable feel, nice decor. Our server was excellent. She helped us pick some drinks from the specialty drink menu as it was happy hour and the drinks were half price. I had a sake-tini, which was very nice with a taste of cucumber. Refreshing. My companion had the wild ginger-tini, which sounded to me like it could be too sweet with coconut, but it was nicely balanced. Not a sushi fan, I stuck with a stir-fry. I chose Mango stir-fry with chicken, at a 6 our of 10 spiciness. The sweet chili sauce was a tad too sweet and not enough chili for me, but out server brough some hot sauce upon request. It was very nice. My friend chose the Spicy stir fry I can't remember the name, with tofu. It was quite good, spiced at 7, but she needed extra spicy too. Price was fine, service great, food good!

I thought the asian dishes here were just OK. Nothing special. They were affordable, and the fusion style towards American tastes is alright, but surely not authentic. If you're looking for "out-of the-box" Asian food, this might be a good place to visit.

Great restaurant, great food, award winning interior design. Much better than the comparable Teak in Mount Adams. Only downside is the location.

Good food all around. But you'll pay a bit more for it because of the focus on the "environment". Equally good food for less and a quiet environment is Lemongrass right across the street!

My wife and I went on a busy Saturday night. We had to wait for about 30 minutes so went to the their bar. We asked for drinks. Here was the Problem #1. The bartender seemed annoyed that we had dared to ask him for drinks. I do not know if we got the "special treatment" for people that annoy him, but Problem #2 was that we received some watered down version of a Margarita and a Mojito. I drank mine in less than five minutes and felt absolutely no effect. Alas, I had the privilege of paying $10 per drink for something that was only slightly stronger than tap water. Problem # 3 came about because we were forgotten about and struck from the waiting list without being called. This even though we were in their own bar area. We discovered this when we asked why people who arrived after us where being offered the sushi bar seats. We were offered two sushi bar seats, which we gladly took. We thought getting the sushi bar seats was going to turn the night around. But, Problem #4 was that we were not waited upon for over 15 minutes after we sat. I finally flagged someone down and had our order taken. After that the night went OK, but not great. Although good, the sushi did not make up for the poor service. We will not return.

We had the house pad thai, the drunken noodles and sampled some of their sushi. The food was bland, the chicken in the noodles had a stale flavor, and the sushi was not the freshest we've had. We were hoping to find some spice in their "thai" food but were disappointed. The service was good and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Go only for drinks and skip the food

Delicious food. The menu is extensive. I can't say the Pad Se Ew was the best I have ever had but the Drunken Noodles were delicious and the edamame was on point.

This review is just for the sushi. And I should mention...this is my first sushi experience in Cincinnati. And I might be spoiled by the plethora of options in the bay area. But this place for the price was just ok. It was cool that all of the pieces were cut into more or less bite sized pieces. Some places have like giant sized pieces that you attempt to shove into your mouth rather than the bite in half approach and then you're stuck not talking to anyone for at least a minute and your main concern is not to spew rice out of your mouth rather than actually tasting the fish. I got the seaweed salad. Pretty standard stuff...and they give you a decent sized portion for five bucks but only because they threw it on top of some shaved daikon. I like the extra crunch =) I also got the red roll and the orange dragon. The fish isn't super fantasticly fresh and perfect but it's not overly fishy either. The only real samples I got were the tuna on top of the red roll and the salmon on top of the orange roll. I think I'd need to try to the nigiri or sashimi to really give an accurate assessment. Overall, the rolls were rolled pretty well and it's decent, a-ok sushi. The restaurant seemed like a nicer spot with dim lighting and mainly accented in red I think which is pretty typical of Japanese places. I'm not sure about the mix of Thai and Vietnamese...seems weird not to just specialize in one thing but maybe there's not much of these types of cuisines in Cincinnati? What do I know...I've got five of each type within three miles of my house...guess I'm just spoiled =)

The best part about this place is the ambiance, unfortunately. The place has a modern feel with nice lighting and earth toned rooms. Ordered the Basil Duck and Drunken Noodles. The Duck was overly salty and missing any real basil flavor. The drunken noodles were okay, but really seemed be be lacking any developed flavors as well. It was more oily than anything. I wouldn't recommend this place solely for the food, but it might be a good place to take a date.

Great sushi. The place is not as cramped now that it has been expanded.

I have now made three trips to Wild Ginger in a couple of weeks so obviously I am a fan. Each time the food was outstanding. I am a super picky eater and the menu had a number of items that sounded really good. The edamame is great as is the teriyaki shrimp.
