We went for my boyfriend's birthday in March. I felt like we were treated like royalty. Our waiter (Jarod) was so polite and professional. All the other waiters around us sounded the same too! Food was great, we loved the different sauces. I specifically joined Yelp because I wanted to share my wonderful/positive experience with this restaurant. I have been treated so well by a restaurant...ever.

For pure fun, the Melting Pot is great. You get to use the "search and rescue" spoons to hunt for fallen chicken or veggies, laugh at your friends staring at their pieces of pork wondering if it's cooked all the way through, and enjoy an affordable bottle of wine with your group. But, aside from the fun times and the tastiness of the food, it's just too much! You'd think bits of bread, meat, and strawberries wouldn't fill you... but add 1/2 cup of melted cheese per person and the heavy dessert dippers, it's really ridiculous. I love food, but I never enjoy feeling as though I need to be rolled out of a restaurant because of how sickly full I feel. The end result of my two visits to Melting Pot made me $50 poorer, incredibly sick (one time actually literally getting sick when I got home), and reminiscing about good times with friends rather than the food itself. I'd go back again, but I'll just have a salad and save my appetite for dessert so I feel a little less like death afterwards.

Wow, harsh rep for The Melting Pot, I mean, it wasn't the best dining experience I've ever had, but it was a hell of a lot of fun. The concept behind the Melting Pot is fondue! Fondue for me, fondue for you. You sit at a big booth with a heated area in the middle of the table. This is where the server puts down the put that gets all nice and hot and bubbly, ready for your cheese or meat or whatnot. You go through the menu and pick out what you want. There are courses for different types of cheese to melt, of meats to melt and (later on, after everything is said and done and eaten), desserts to melt. Then they put these things into the pot on your table, and you dip into it with long skewers. It really is a blast, especially done with people you like. For my first time there, I got the very basic four course meal and I have to tell you, it was delicious. Let me go through what I ate: * Spinach and Artichoke Melted dip on top of two different types of breads and delicious vegetables *A Cesar salad that was fresh and crisp *A pile of meats ready to be cooked (including ahi tuna, shrimp, beef and chicken) and five different sauces to dip them in, each one different and wonderful *A S'mores dessert, which put chocolate and marshmallow into the pot to be melted, sprinkled in with graham crackers and then a tray of things like brownies, cake and cheesecake to put into the melted pot of awesomeness. Honestly, I started to get fill after the cheese! My god it was good. Our server was amazing too. I wish I could remember his name but he was friendly and fast and kept coming back to check on us when it was the right moment. I'm sorry for the people who has terrible service before, but whoever this guy was, you should ask for him next time ... yeah, I know, not very helpful. Now, I cannot stress this part enough - wait for deals! Usually, a full four course meal (cheese, salad, meats and dessert) is going to be about $45 to $50 a person. I went on a night when thyey were offering the full meal for half of that. It was actually going on all month long, BUT you had to know about it. The waiter never mentioned the special as he was going through the prices, but as soon as we said that's what we wanted, he knew exactly what we were talking about. Check their website, find a night with a deal and rock on over. Totally a good time.

I took my wife here for her birthday, what a fantastic experience. We had never been before and it exceeded our expectations. Our waiter, John, was great! Very knowledgeable and helpful for us since we didn't know what we were doing. The food was great and service very attentive. I recommend The Melting Pot.

This is one of my favorite restaurants but they really blew it tonight! 5 stars to the Melting Pot in Pittsburgh but 3 at best tonight here and that's for the food. Service gets 1 star. I took my wife and 2 children to this location. Today was her birthday. The staff was not very friendly from the hostess to the server to the manager. Her birthday was no big deal to them. We were sitting at a table with 2 burners. My 2 teenagers sat in front of 1. The oil got very hot and was splashing them. Another server came over with our waiter and replaced the oil saying that they always have problems with that burner. They put it on the lowest setting and it still gets too hot. Why would you put kids in front of that! Later on my wife was splashed on her outfit by our oil. The manager came by to ask how the meal was. He was just going on his rounds and didn't listen to anything we said. My wife said she got burned and he ignored her. Our server acted like he didn't want to be there. He lightened up a little at the end. He messed up our order: wrong salads, wrong dressing, wrong drinks; couldn't remember who got what. He complained that we substituted so he had to write it down. That didn't help him. Getting dressings on the side or shrimp instead of salmon or steak is not that hard. He didn't bring us all the sauces that you normally receive. I have been to this one many times for special occasions + the one in Pittsburgh. Usually when they serve you they explain how long to cook each item. He even criticized us for ordering oil; saying not many people order that because it is fattening. $9.00 for a small Apple Martini with little flavor doesn't win any awards in my book. Having been to Melting Pots for many years I am willing to give them a shot again. Definitely will hit the Pittsburgh one next time I am in town. Follow-up Heard from the owner the next day after I sent a complaint to the Corporate office. He was very apologetic and refunded our entire bill! That's a five star classy thing to do!

Love this place, staff is friendly but they don't usually tell you their special unless you bring it up yourself. If you have a coupon they will charge you the tip without telling you.

I have been going to The Melting Pot restaurant for about 10 years and it is one of my favorite places. I have always gone on special occasions and spent a lot of money because it's hard to go and not get all four courses (cheese, salad, meat/seafood/veggies, and dessert) and a bottle of wine. But, there really isn't a need to spend a lot of money, nor is there a need to go as a couple for a special dinner. On an off night two people could stop in and have a couple glasses of wine and a cheese appetizer. The cheese fondue runs about $12 - $14 and feeds two people perfect. Even though I love this place, I wish it didn't have the reputation of being a Romantic Fine Dining Restaurant. I think they are missing some great opportunities by only identifying with couples, romance, and fine dining for all that matters. It is definitely positioned as a romantic restaurant because you walk in to a low-lit dining room filled with individual booths that are high enough for romantic privacy. My personal opinion is that a Fondue Restaurant would be a cool hipster spot if it was open and more lit and maybe individual fondue pots at the bar. How cool would it be to stop in and sit at a bar with a glass of wine while nibbling on cheese fondue! Why has fondue all of a sudden become romantic? Back in the 70's when it was popular it was more of a social thing for parties and gatherings. Will somebody please re-invent a fondue restaurant that isn't thought of only as a romantic place to take a date! I have ideas.....

The Melting Pot has become THE restaurant for my fiancee and I. We love the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the FOOD! We were just there and tried a new cooking style (Mojo) and it was a gamechanger!! Our server, Emily, was extremely helpful in explaining the menu to our friends, offering wine pairings, and treating us like we were her only table. If you are looking for a dinner EXPERIENCE, not just dinner, look no further than The Melting Pot. (I don't even have to mention the chocolate fondue, because IT'S CHOCOLATE FONDUE!!)

My husband took me to The Melting Pot for my birthday and it proved to be a romantic and relaxing way to spend the evening. The restaurant is geared up to provide the type of intimate experience I had, or a fun and entertaining experience for larger groups. One thing's for sure; plan to settle in for a few hours. The menu is intimidating at first, so I recommend ordering one of the four course meals rather than ala carte. This limits the number of choices you have to make and agree on, and you seriously can't go wrong with fondu. Overall, I was very impressed with the freshness and the quality of the food. They do a great job pairing flavors well and you just can't beat any kind of table with a built-in cooking surface. I like that the meat came on a plate raw and it was up to us to keep track of how long it was in the fondu pot. This makes for a whole new definition of "made to order." The entrée came with so many sauces that I don't think I tried the same flavor combination twice! If variety is the spice of life, get ready for a literal and figurative flavor explosion! Although I was warned about the expense, I never saw the bill, so I have nothing to complain about! Despite the alleged price tag and the fact that it's a chain restaurant, The Melting Pot is something to add to your bucket list to try at least once!

Fun-do! Great for conversation. We had the four course experience and loved it all. The atmosphere is intimate. The wine was a tad expensive. I would get it again, though. The desert was def our favorite. The wait staff was top notch. All-around fabulous.

Serious meal, so rich... Maybe an annual thing. Any more and my health insurance rates are going up. We had great food here last Friday night but the service was lacking. They were out of several things and the server brought the wrong champagne. We ordered one, and he brought another one, opened it, and poured it. We had ordered a brut rose and we just got a brut. So the manager comes over and her response to it is "so, is it okay?"... Ummm.. It's fine, but it's not what we ordered?! No mention at all of them taking care of it or how they could fix it. I asked if there is a difference in price between what we ordered and what they brought us, and she says she'll check into it, and we never saw her again the rest of the night. Did we pay more for a cheaper bottle? Or did she charge us for the higher bottle? No idea, because she never came back to let us know. Our server recommended a port, which we all ordered. Then he came back with 1/3-1/2 glasses for all of us, telling us that was all they had but he took a few dollars off each one. If I had suggested a drink and then couldn't fulfill the order, I would have let them know and let them make their own decision whether they wanted a half glass or not, not just taken a few dollars off. It felt cheap... Most of the places we frequent would have said "you know what, since these are tiny little pours and I suggested you get this, it's on the house"... Or "we're out of that, can I suggest an alternative?" All in all, made for a bad experience.

I love the melting pot in Montgomery. We have tried the one in centerville twice. Food was excellent but the servers look like there is a trailer park right outside the doors. We expected the same quality personality. The greeter looks like a fat Michael Bolton. Our server had a horrible hair cut and lacked all personality. The time before our server complained about her car being fixed and how mechanic overpriced her for parts. Next time we will stick with Montgomery rd location.

For the price, we received terrible service. Left prompt feedback and have never heard from anyone. For this much money this pace is too risky.

IF YOU LIKE FONDUE BUT LOVE SINATRA... This is your place. Solid european fondue-fare served with non-stop Sinatra at levels so loud, you'd think he's getting skewered!

I don't understand the people who have complained about having to cook your own food. As a previous Yelper stated, it is Fondue. This has been my favorite place to go for special occasions for years now. I admit that it's a bit pricey, but to me the experience is well worth it. For my money, you can never go wrong with the Big Night Out. It runs between $80 to $100 per couple and includes four courses. The first course is the cheese course. They have several selections to choose from and I have yet to be dissapointed with my choice. I've tried the Wisconsin Cheddar, the Fiesta Cheese, and the Artichoke and swiss. They give you multiple selections to dip in the cheese. I recommend the apples. It's not as weird as it sounds. The second course is the salad course. I always go with the ceasar salad, and regardless of what salad you get, I would suggest adding hte parmesan encrusted pine nuts. It's the only place I've ever seen them and they are a great addition to a salad. The third course is the main course. Again, I have yet to try something I don't like. My personal favorite is the Lobster tail, but no matter which selection you get, you are going to have a ton of food. The fourth course is the dessert course. It's pretty much worth the price of admission alone. I should probably try a different chocolate one of these times, but the chocolate smores is so good, I don't feel the need to branch out. I guarantee you won't leave hungry, and at a typical meal time of two to three hours, your food is so spread out that you really don't even realize how much you are eating. I recommend this to anybody looking for a nice romantic date night. Just be preapred for the length of dinner.

It's not like there's a plethora of fondue restaurants to compare Melting Pot against anymore. So you'd never know if this is some kitsch version of what might have been a really good thing in days gone by. It's a fun place to go with friends if you really, really like the people you're hanging out with. Because you're going to be there for quite some time. The food was pretty decent. But it was exhorbitantly expensive considering that you're the one doing all the work. And also considering the miniscule portions. Yeah, the steak was good and the prawns were pretty good sized, but for the money? Seriously? Are you guys joking? Comeon. No way. The redeeming grace for this place is indeed the desserts. In fact, skip having dinner here. Go somewhere else for dinner and save room for desserts. Then end up here for the topper. On second thought... go to Graeters instead. If you're just wanting the experience of fondue, well there aren't a lot of options and everyone should do it at least once in their lifetime. But if you're like me, you'll only go to this one once.

I love the Melting Pot Chain. I first experienced the fondue restaurant in Louisville, where I was blown away by their impeccable service and surprisingly good and filling food. From asking what my cell phone was in case I left something in the booth and carefully explaining what and how each dish was to be cooked, I felt like I was not in a restaurant in Louisville, but one it like New York City or Abu Dhabi. Their exotic wood furniture and rotating wine room made it all the sweeter. However, I will remind you, that was in Louisville, not the Melting Pot in Montgomery. When I planned to eat at the one in Montgomery, I really expected the restaurant to be the same, stunning service in a large, spacious yet seemingly chic environment with simply delicious food. However, once I made it out for dinner, the restaurant was small and had no sense of striking atmosphere, and the service was kind of mediocre, verging on unprofessional. I felt like our server was trying his very best to please us, but still had that kind of untrained sense around him. The food was unfortunately not much different. Our plates were not given enough, where instead of filling the entire plate with cut pieces of meat and fish, it was only half covered with the other half covered with 2 unneeded pieces of lettuce and inedible garnish. More like to take up space and use less food. Other than those things however, the overall experience was passable. But then again, I could not get over how small the space was. I felt pushed against the table in the booth, and even though I am quite average in build, it was as if I was practically on top of the fondue pot itself. One word of advice: one look at the menu and you will definitely be surprised by the prices. At and average of 30-35 per dish of little pieces of meat and fish, your best bet is to get the "pick three" option, where you get to choose three different meats and fishes. This is only 25, a great pick compared to the others. Then at the end, you'll actually have something in your pocket left for desert.

I can't help but laugh at all the Yelpers complaining about having to cook their own food. Uh, it's FONDUE!! Did you not know what a fondue dinner meant BEFORE you decided to go?! Uhhg! My husband and I go on many special occasions because it's fun, romantic, good food and the service is excellent. Ask for Jared or Pat and you will NOT be sorry! The Big Night Out is a four course meal, which changes monthly. It usually looks very interesting, however, it is just way too much food for the two of us. A tip for those worried about how expensive it is, you could order a Big Night Out and share among more than 2 people and simply order extra salads for each person above the initial 2. It's less on your wallet and your love handles! My husband and I usually split 1 dinner and I order an extra salad. Add on wine, beer and dessert, then yes it does cost more than a Big Night Out at Mickey D's folks, but well worth the nice atmosphere, the ample time spent talking and truly enjoying ourselves. We never feel rushed out the door, which is key. We find The Melting Pot is well worth the money. BTW, I would like to go over a complaint about the parking. Even if you had to park in the farthest spot in this complex, it's not far at all or strenuous in any way...unless you're completely out of shape and on crutches with 2 broken legs and also have 2 broken arms. My only complaint...bring back the OLD SCHOOL MUSHROOM SALAD! I MISS YOU!!!

Fondue: the three-hour dining extravaganza! We went to Melting Pot for the Two Dine for $55.00 special going on during September. (Normally, I could never afford to eat here at full price.) The two of us slid into a corner booth and were greeted by our enthusiastic server, Ben. We had several options for our meal special, and Ben explained the details of each course. We opted for the following: Salads: House w/ peppercorn ranch and a Caesar Course 1: - Spinach artichoke with Fontina and Butterkäse cheese fondue Course 2 (Entree Fondue): - Court Bouillon (seasoned vegetable broth) - Chicken, White Shrimp, Teriyaki Sirloin, Ahi Tuna, and Vegetable Medley with five dipping sauces Course 3: - S'mores fondue (milk chocolate and marshmallow topped with graham crackers) Our table was equipped with a hot plate, and each fondue was made from scratch right in front of us. Ben told us about each of the ingredients he was mixing. It was kind of like watching a cooking show. For the cheese fondues, we had three kinds of 1" bread squares to dip, as well as green apples, carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli. The entree got a bit tricky. Once the broth was boiling, a bowl of raw potatoes, mushrooms and broccoli were dumped into the pot. Next, we received a plate of of raw chicken, steak, terriyaki beef, and shrimp pieces. The diner stabs a piece of meat and puts the skewer in the boiling pot for a few minutes. Our server cautions several things: - Consuming raw meat is bad. Don't put the raw meat on the plate you're eating cooked food from. - Metal skewers get hot when placed in boiling water. Don't stick the skewer in your mouth after removing from the pot. Use your dinner fork instead. - You MUST let the chicken boil for three minutes...or else! - If your food falls off your skewer into the pot, you have to use the "Search & Rescue" strainer spoon. (This was pretty fun, mainly because some poor soul found these things out the hard way. ) The trick to eating the entree is to keep both skewers in a pot at all times. Once you put the cooked food on your plate, stab another raw piece and put it in the boiling pot. It's all about time management. The entree also comes with FIVE dipping sauces: plum glaze, terriyaki glaze, curry yogurt, blue cheese, and Green Goddess (aka whipped cream cheese and herbs.) My favorite was Green Goddess, with plum glaze being a winner for the beef, and blue cheese for the chicken. Oh yeah! I almost forgot about the boiling veggies... those were good too! The mushrooms seemed to get devoured the quickest. Lastly, our dessert fondue arrived. The S'mores actually arrived on fire! Our server flambéed the dish right in front of us, letting the flame travel up into the cup he was pouring from. He mixed in the marshmallow, and crumbled graham crackers too. Pretty cool! Dippers included: strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, Rice Krispy squares, marshmallows, poundcake and brownies. Overall, I thought the food was delicious and was stuffed by the end of the night. Our server offered to roll us out the door. Ha! I've eaten authentic fondue in Europe and Melting Pot is pretty close to the real deal. The only difference there is that the dipping bread is large chunks of baguette and a stronger hint of wine in the cheese fondue. By the end of the evening, we had definitely consumed $55.00 of goodness between the two of us. A fantastic special, indeed. I recommend trying Melting Pot with a Groupon or coming on a special pricing night, otherwise it'll cost $100+. After all, it is just bread, fruit, meat and sauce! I had a great time chatting and eating for three hours. The Melting Pot is definitely the meal and entertainment for an evening. Grab your favorite person and go now! You'll have a blast.

Great place to go on a romantic date with your loved one. Low lighting, romantic music, and fun way to share a meal. We had great service, from the bartender, to our server Brittany, to the staff that comes around and refills your drinks and takes away your plates. Expect to be there around 2 hours. It's perfectly timed. But expect to pay between $90 and $125, including tip. But this is worth it if you're going out for an anniversary dinner. Recommended: Wiconsin Trio Cheese appetizer; Spinach Mushroom salad; Coq Au Vin cooking style; Land & Sea entree; S'mores for dessert.

UPDATE: Visited on 10/12/2013 and the service and meal was incredible- much of what we have come to know and love about Melting Pot. Our server (Amber) was attentive, friendly, low key, knowledgeable about the menu and added to our dining experience. My wife and I both ordered the 4 course meal and we were not let down. I had the Land and Sea entree, and my wife had the Pacific Rim. The portion size was perfect, and our dining experience lasted just a hair over 2 hours. We will definitely return. FIRST REVIEW: January 2013. We've been to the Melting Pot a half dozen times in the last couple of years, but our experience in January 2013 left a lot to be desired. Here's a short list: - Made a reservation, arrived 10 minutes early and still waited 30 minutes. Okay, I understand that you can't control how quickly people eat, so that in itself wouldn't have been a bad thing. - Menu just changed, and server didn't understand it. Overbilled us by 25%. That's uncalled for and besides updating our bill, barely offered an apology. - My wife received the wrong salad. - We repeatedly asked for additional utensils and didn't receive them. - We asked for an additional plate for our 6 year old daughter and never received it. We will give the Melting Pot another chance, but overall when you spend as much money as the Melting Pot costs, you expect better service and a better experience.

I've had some disasterous (and obscenely expensive) meals at Melting Pot in the past. Lately though they seem to have been trying to turn over a new leaf. Went there twice in the past couple of months and both times we left happy and didn't feel like we just got mugged for subpar food. Had such a good time we will have to go back for sure. I don't know what these new managers did exactly but it's working so much better than the Melting Pot did a couple years ago. The latest menu changes sound not so great though... guess the effect remains to be seen.

If you can't be happy with a vat of bubbly cheese and gooey chocolate bliss within reach of your greedy little digits, there's just nothing that's gonna help you. The Melting Pot is a perfect indulgence. It's not just a meal, but a whole experience in itself - choosing which flavors to combine, blending with the mix of tasty sauces they bring to the table, "cooking" your meal in a low-key, relaxed environment & having a special evening. I've been a few times for special occasions, most recently for a belated Mother's Day dinner with my mom. Every flavor choice was mom's as it was her gift. With a lot of food allergies, including to wine & other alcohol (a key ingredient in some cooking broths & other items) our server did a great job proactively helping my mom with the menu & making sure all the food would be prepared far from her allergic items. Service is always attentive, but was especially good this time, as our server brought extra veggies for the main course, extra dipping sauce, & didn't rush our meal progression. She also let us in on a "secret" that if you want a dish changed up a little bit, no problem. We got the dark chocolate & chunky peanut butter mix for dessert, but also had caramel put in it (an off-menu addition to that particular menu item.) Also, as it can be a more expensive evening if you're doing the four-course dinner, especially, look at their website often for specials (Ladies Night or health worker professionals night, breast cancer awareness, etc.) They can have some great deals there.

On a whim, our friends suggested dinning at The Melting Pot this evening. None of us have ever been here and heard about it so we decided to give it a try. I did some research and decided to make reservations through Yelp & Open Table. They have many options when booking for special occasion preferences and discounts seen on FB. When we arrived the hosted was pleasant and let us know we will be seated at 7:45 when our reservations were and the place was nicely decorated for the holidays and playing Christmas music, a plus for us. Once seated our waiter, Eli was delightful and extremely helpful! He really made the experience enjoyable and went above and beyond! We each ordered the 4 Course Meal Option. Which includes 1 Cheese Fondu, 1 Salad, 1 Meal Entree, 1 Chocolate Dessert. My husband and I chose "The Original" for our entree, house salad, Turtle on Fire and Pumpkin Flambé Chocolate with the bourgeoisie choose of cooking. It was phenomenal! My husband was able to sub more steak for his shrimp on the original. We had the bacon & Gorgonzola cheese and the Fiesta Cheese to start. They bring you breads, chips, fruits and veggies to dip into the fondu. Once finished they bring out your salads and heat up your cooking oil options. The house salad and wedge salad was delicious! Once the oil is hot and ready, Eli brought out our main dish meats and explained in detail how long to cook each item as well as how to make stuffed mushrooms with the cheese and sauces they provided. He was truly helpful with how to make the most of our dishes. He came back frequently to check on our progress, refill sauces, drinks and see how we liked his suggestions. All of which were amazingly scrumptious! Now that dinner has commenced, it's time for dessert. Since there was two burners we were able to pick two dessert chocolates. We chose the Flaming Turtle and the Pumpkin Pie which Eli flambéed for us to roast our marshmallows on. He also added cinnamon to the pumpkin pie and it was indescribably amazing!!! It is addicting. You get a plate filled with rice crispy treats, brownies, blondie, strawberries, pineapple, coated marshmallows, pound cake and bananas to dip into the chocolate sauces. This was by far my favorite part and was the best end to the evening. In all, our bill was only $75 for two people getting 2 Four Course dinners "The Original" option. The service from Eli was beyond superior and better than any top notch restaurant we've ever encountered. He really made the evening delightful and helped us navigate the menu and made suggestions that really put each course far above what we could have made ourselves. This is a place to try at least once. Even if you think you will not like cooking your meal, I dare you to try it. It's really an enjoyable experience and you can actually enjoy your food!!! I highly recommend The Melting Pot and please request Eli. He will not disappoint.

Overall a good girls night out experience. The alpine cheese fondue was flavorful and creamy. California salad fresh and sweet. Flaming turtle chocolate fondue...yummy!! Easy parking, friendly server. $5 house wine special. $6 Martinis. The not so good....the hostesses were the quite unfriendly when we came in. A smile would be a nice addition!! The Thursday ladies night special with 3 courses does not include an entree. Really?!?! Who offers 3 courses, none of which are the main course?! Definitely misleading advertising. Seemed kinda like a bait and switch. We were told that for $40 more, we could add the entree. Ouch!! $40 for raw meat as an add on?! Flaming turtle chocolate fondue. No nuts in it. Odd to serve chocolate and caramel only for a turtle offering.

We recently wanted to try something a little different so we went to The Melting Pot and we couldn't have been more pleased with the service, ambiance, food and wine. We went with another couple and it was so much fun! They made the cheese and chocolate courses right at the table they even set the chocolate on fire! We cooked our own entree after a lesson from our server, so not only was it delicious it was cooked just the way I like it and every bite was piping hot! The whole dinner took a little over two hours but it didn't feel like we were there forever. We will definitely be back

So you say to yourself "Hey! I LOVE cooking, but hate taking all the stuff out of the fridge on my own or mixing it up! Plus I have an extra 3 hours to burn and don't care if someone rapes me unwillingly financially!" - well boy do I have the place for you! It's gimmicky and a great place to go with friends if your friends happen to have an extra $60 each laying around and prefer to frequent chain restaurants. You'll also be pleased if you like surprises on your credit card bill and poor customer service. After sitting there for a slow 3 hours we began asking anyone we could find for our check so we wouldn't be late to a show we had tickets for and had warned our waiter of at the beginning. I received my check - and while the food was ok, it was certainly not $130 worth of ok - especially since I was only paying for myself as were the other 4 people I was with. I told them the check was incorrect and as he scratched his head he walked back to bring myself and another woman different checks since incorrect checks come in twos - or so I've heard. We were then brought a second round of checks - this time mine was $97, which was better, but still twice what my bill should have been. We then go through yet 2 more rounds of receiving incorrect checks and finally I got the correct amount. As we asked "these last signed bills are what will be charged to our cards, right?" To which we were assured they'd never make a mistake like that. So since my faith was so strong in them, I kept the copy of the signed receipt (which I'm not even sure was correct then, but plead mercy since we were late for our show.) tucked safe and sound inside of my pocketbook. A week later as I was reading through my bank statement - lo and behold I was billed $130 by the Melting Pot. As I called the restaurant to tell them they'd made a mistake they said they'd have someone call me. I also sent them a fax with copies of both the negotiated price receipt and my credit card statement with a full explanation and info as to what happened. Apparently they didn't care because I didn't receive a call back for over a week and not until after I called a second time to complain. The manager apologized and graciously offered to charge my credit card for the correct amount plus tip. Unfortunately, tipping the incompetent is not one of my favorite past-times so I slowly explained to the manager that while I'd pay the negotiated price despite all other restaurants showing much better customer service that there was no way in Hell I was still leaving a corrected tip. In the end they credited my account for all but $55 of the meal which was a bargain considering it only cost $45. So what's the moral of this story? Next time go to a restaurant where they cook your food for you, have an accurate calculator that calculates 1 meal the same for all people that ordered that meal and try to find one with better customer service.

It's a fondue restaurant that charges for atmosphere and ambience, not necessarily food. We went for Valentine's Day this past year because if Melting Pot is nothing else, it is definitely romantic. On that particular day, the Melting Pot had a set five course menu that diners paid a standard fee for. The meal came with a bottle of cheap wine and topped out at $135 a couple. I have been to Melting Pot on other occasions where we have selected one of the cheaper meal combinations but have still ended up getting close to that $100 mark for two people. We save this place for special occasions, because it really is a lot of fun. If you've never been your server will kindly explain how everything works. A meal usually goes like this: Cheese fondue (choose your type of cheese, they'll provide pretzels, bread, and fruit for dipping), Salad (they have a few offerings), Entre Fondue (you choose both the Bouillon and the meats/seafood's you like...you can get everything from just chicken and sirloin to lobster tail and filet), and finally, Chocolate Fondue. All of the food is decent but there is something to be said for having to cook it yourself, even if you get seafood, steak, and chicken, it all ends up tasting the same because you boil it yourself in the same manner as you boil the other parts. I know a number of people who make late reservations at Melting Pot just to go in and order the Chocolate Fondue, which comes with marshmallows, pound cake, fruit, and cheesecake for dipping. The dark chocolate fondue is SO good; definitely the restaurant's finest offering. If you go for the whole meal, be prepared to be stuffed and to smell like a fondue restaurant, you'd be wise to make Melting Pot the last stop on your evening's agenda unless you want to walk around in a cloud of cheese and chocolate for the rest of your night. Reservations are encouraged all of the time, on weekends this place gets really crowded.

This place is wickedly overpriced. Oh it's a fun time, it's very romantic, and the desserts are excellent. But there is no way I would ever choose to waste my money there again. For the cashyou'll spend at this dipping hall, you could have a spectacular gormet meal at several other local restaurants with superior food, service, ambiance, and sometimes even a view.

I love fondue! It's one of those fads that may have faded, but people still love it! The Melting Pot is like the five star restaurant for fondue foodies. It's dark and moody and always elaborately decorated. However, I'm just too much of a cheapskate to come here regularly or even order a full meal at that. I came here once on a special occasion and was floored at how much the dinner for two was. Instead of getting the whole meal, which honestly I don't think I could actually eat all of, we decided to just get appetizers. My favorite fondue is just the swiss cheese with white wine with bread for dipping. I usually make a meal of that when I eat at home, so at the Melting Pot, this sufficed for the meal. I don't think I would come back to the Melting Pot unless someone else was paying as it costs drastically less to make fondue in the fondue pot that I own at home. So dine with caution! This place is just too overpriced for what they serve.

With so many cool places to eat these days, Melting Pot can easily be forgotten. While I did not enjoy cooking the chicken and filet mignon (after all it's a night out!!), the cheese fondue with the bread and veggies for dipping is incredible. Best of all is the chocolate fondue, which comes with fruit, marshmallows and cake just waiting to be smothered and enjoyed!

Here's the thing about the Melting Pot: if you're going and getting the Big Night Out, you're going to be there for at least 2 hours and you're going to pay close to $100. My husband and I go there every year for our anniversary, so $100 once a year is not too bad. You will also cook your own food, which makes it a dining event as well as an experience. It is well worth it for the dessert fondue at the end of the meal. Seriously, do not skip out on dessert.

My mom hates this restaurant.... She says that you shouldn't have to pay that much money to prep and cook your own food. That always makes me laugh because that is why you go to Melting Pot- to do exactly that! I, on the other hand, love the Melting Pot. I have celebrated anniversaries, Valentines Day, and even my 30th birthday here and have never been disappointed! Yes, this place is expensive. You are not going to wander in for dinner on a Monday night. It is definitely a special occasions place. But the reason for the cost is the experience, which is more unusual than any other restaurant in the city. My husband and I always get the Big Night Out, which includes a little of everything.... cheese fondue, salad, meat, and chocolate fondue. You always walk away full, but there are almost never leftovers. The Big Night Out plus one drink for each person will set you back a little over $100. Too rich for your blood- keep your eyes open for specials on their website during their off months (not near Xmas or Valentines Day). Here are my recommendations: Cheese- We always get the Fiesta Cheese Fondue (read Nacho Cheese) It is served with all the normal dipping items PLUS tortilla chips! We always ask for some extra jalapenos to spice it up. Salad- Yum! The California Salad never disappoints! Plenty of Gorgonzola and a great dressing. Meat- We have tried a variety and never been disappointed with the selection. They will do substitutions!!!! I don't eat seafood and many of the selections come with several seafood selections. They will let you substitute say the fish for the terriyaki sirloin (YUM!) Make sure to dip your meat in all their yummy sauces and ask for more of your favorites. They are happy to bring as much as you want! Chocolate- We have tried many of them and never found one that is our favorite. We tend to love the ones that come flambeed! Doesn't change the taste, but makes for a good show. Though this would make for an expensive first date, it would also be a great first date spot. Low lit and romantic and plenty of activity going on to keep from having dead spots in conversation! They also have a Girls Night Out Special during the week. Definitely my go-to spot for a romantic night with my hubby. I would also think it would be lots of fun with a group. Give it a try!

I have to say that the Melting Pot is really good...but the prices are horrible! I would suggest sharing!!! the Cheese we had was the Wisconsin trio and Cheddar...the Cheddar was the bomb! and when it came to the chocolate, we had the Milk chocolate and Ying Yang (dark chocolate/white chocolate) I would definitely suggest the Ying Yang...it was delicious!!!! for those who don't know, you cook everything yourself so prepare! $100 for 2 people...but it was a lot of fun!

Better than expected! Ordering is a bit over complicated. Tried the spinach/artichoke cheese fondue...awesome. Pacific Rim Coq au Vin for main course. All ingredients were very fresh. Having a timer on my phone helps. Fun and fancy, awesome service. will go back!

Great restaurant, but it's more for a special occasion or if the restaurant has a special going on. They recently had a spring break special with a four course meal for $27 per person (normally a four course meal is $40-$50/person). This is not a place to go if you have plans afterward. Even on a good day, it will likely take you 2 or 3 hours for the meal. I've been here for just cheese and chocolate once, thinking it would be quick... and it was a little over two hours. The waiter and waitresses are very knowledgeable about the preparation of the food and generally have great knowledge of wine pairings and the drink menu. The food is great and you will likely leave here stuffed (regardless of what you order)!

I loathe this place. I will never go back. My ex-wife conned me into going there. Tip for you guys, if your wife suggests this, DO NOT fall for it. Over priced for having to cook your own food which isn't very good and it takes way too long. Can't imagine much worse. You have to keep skewers in the pot cooking while you eat, otherwise you'll go hungry in between the tiny bites of food. Wear something you can burn because you'll never get the smell out of your clothes. The only good thing is the dessert - chocolate covered fruit. Amazing that they can stay in business. Sucker born every day, I guess.

My husband went here for an early Valentine's Dinner. We have been here before. The food was good but the service was annoying. First, we had to ask to order wine. Seems odd given the mark-up on wine in restaurants but we had to actually stop our waiter and tell him we wanted to order wine. The cheese fondue course came and was fantastic. We were maybe 1/3 of the way through and our salads came. It was fine but we began to feel rushed. We were about 1/2 way through the cheese fondue when a server brought the broth pot and was going to move our cheese pot off the burner. My husband asked that they take away the broth for a bit -- he hadn't even started his salad. A few minutes later, our server brought the broth pot back and my husband, who is very tolerant, said "please take that away... I'm feeling rushed and I haven't even started my salad." The server was very nice but this seems unacceptable given the prices. We ordered a bottle of wine and wanted to relax and enjoy the wine and our food and perhaps have a bit of conversation. We got the impression the goal there is to turn the table. I am not sure we will go back.

I took my bf there cuz neither of us has been to a fondue place and i thought it would be a lot of fun, and it actually was if you like cooking your own food and interacting a lot with your partner while eating. We made a reservation on Yelp and got seated right away. Our waiter was very familiar with the menu and extremely helpful. I told him that i was worried 2 four course tastings might be too much for us and he told us to go with one entree and add whatever we want later and the kitchen will be able to accommodate us. Oh, he had an extremely gentle voice, very comforting, and my bf and I both were like yeah please keep talking... A tad creepy, huh? The four course entree was plenty for us. They gave you A LOT of food. We had classic alpine for cheese fondue and it was a little too bitter for us probably cuz of the white wine. And they served green apple to dip cheese, which was a very "you say whaaaaa?" moment. We chose Fondue Delight for entrée with the COQ AU VIN broth and instead of Chicken, we had BBQ Pork (GET IT. It is better than the filet mignon). They are very flexible with substitutions. Their red meat tasted better when we cooked it more otherwise it stays very chewy. The lobster was delicious. Six sauces came with the protein and the Indian yogurt and teriyaki are our favorites. We had white chocolate with Oreo. They use RUM 151 to burn the marshmallows. I asked if I could just take that as shot instead. Overall, soooo much food but what a stuffed fun experience.

This was my first time here and I loved the experience. My boyfriend took me as a surprise and let me tell you.. I was not disappointed! The food is awesome and out waiter Lee was even more awesome! (Highly recommend him!!) he was helpful with explaining the menu, he gave suggestions, kept the veggies coming for the cheese and the brownies coming for the chocolate! This was an amazing experience and I will definitely be coming back!!

Once, when I was a wee college lass, way before foodies were a thing, Melting Pot seemed like the ultimate romantic and fancy place to go eat. Things have changed a lot since then. We went with a group of friends to celebrate some birthdays and while the service was really great and we had a nice time, Melting Pot is probably not somewhere I'd go again on my own volition. Here's why: The amount of food you get in no way matches up to the prices you pay. My husband ordered the vegetarian entree so we could share one steak 4 course meal to try to be more cost effective. The vegetarian entree had a few slices of mushroom (allegedly a very expensive mushroom), 5-6 pieces of asparagus, a couple pieces of artichoke, and a few ravioli. I might be missing something but you get the gist- not really worth the price. I did enjoy trying each of the cheese fondues (we had enough people to have three pots so we could try different things), and no girl who loves chocolate can not love the dessert fondue. In the end, the taste and the quantity just wasn't worth the $100+ we spent on two people. If you MUST go, I would suggest spending your money on the seafood or chicken (steak really doesn't need to be boiled in broth, there are many better ways to eat it), go with a group so at least you can sample other dips, and just be ready to drop a load. To end on a positive note, the two waiters we had were great. Very friendly, thoughtful, and they brought out complimentary champagne for our group at the end of the night, with little birthday treats for the birthday girls.

We were invited back by the manager and we are so glad we went. Our experience this time was stellar. My two big pieces of advice are 1. Get the Bourguignonne style of cooking. It was amazing and so much better than the broth. 2. Do not go for the 4 course meal unless you are huge eaters. We split one entree and it was more than enough when you get the cheese and the dessert. We started with the Alpine Cheese fondue. It was good. A bit on the tangy side but good with the apples. Probably won't get that one again but we will try the cheddar or the broth based ones. Next we split the vegetarian plate. We are meat eaters but here it is all about the veggies. I am just not crazy about cooking my meats in a pot. Everything was great but the pastas were the best. Both the ravioli and the sacchetti are phenomenal cooked in the oil. They get crispy and delicious. We will definitely be getting that as our full entree next time. All of the entrees come with Potatoes, Mushrooms, and broccoli with free refills. They also come with a variety of sauces and two batters if you get the Bourguignonne. This was my favorite part of the entree. The potatoes were delicious with the blue cheese sauce. The broccoli in the tempura batter was great but for me it was all about the mushrooms. They show you how to stuff the caps with the green goddess sauce and then tempura batter. Amazing! For dessert we went with the s'mores. They flambé it table side so the marshmallow carmelizes. Seriously yum with all of the great dipping sauces. And to top everything off our waiter, Jim, was fantastic. He was super fun and made great suggestions. We will definitely be back.

We were extremely happy with the service provided by Jordan. He made dinner very fun. Dinner was outstanding! We ordered the bourguignon style of cooking. Didn't much care for the batter so we just cooked our meat without. We took food home with us and didn't eat all of the chocolate. We were just stuffed after the four courses. Look forward to the next holiday meal.

This is not authentic European fondue but it's great Americanized fondue! We did the 3 course meal and it was super fun! Entertaining date and definitely a meal that I would rather go out to eat then try to cook at home!

I've been to Cincinnati's Melting Pot a couple of times in the past year or so, and had a great dinner both times. My best friend's husband doesn't care for fondue, so it's a perfect place for the two of us to celebrate special occasions or just catch up if we haven't seen one another in awhile. We both especially enjoy the French Quarter entree, and feel that the seasoning that comes on the meats provides plenty of flavor, so we stick with the traditional bullion broth. Both times, we have had the full 4-course meal, which gets expensive when a bottle of wine is included, but it's absolutely worth it for a delicious, celebratory night out. Both times, our servers have been excellent and attentive. The restaurant has several rooms, and the acoustics of some of the smaller ones make it a little louder than might be expected, but not overwhelming. We'll definitely be back!

The atmosphere was great, as was the service. Bottle prices on the wine are pretty good. All in all, don't expect to get out for less than $100 for 2 people. Go for the cookies and cream desert! Don't skip desert!

THE FON-DO'S AND DON'TS OF MELTING POT FON-DO: Make reservations. Melting Pot is kind of quaint. FON-DON'T: go alone. Girls are totally into unique dining experiences, so why not bring one? Besides, Fondue for one is like a KFC famous bowl, a sadness meal in a failure bowl. Also akin to TV dinners. Nothing says, yeah, I'm single and not doing anything about it like a TV dinner. FON-DO: split a bottle of mid-range wine. Wine not? You're livin' it up tonight. FON-DON'T: get the green goddess dressing. It doesn't really taste like anything. FON-DO: Order the full meal. Why not? You're a frickin' billionaire! FON-DON'T: Bother spending the extra money to get anything besides the traditional bouillon. The cooking style can actually take away from the flavor of your food if you get something too fancy. We wouldn't want every veggie tasting like garlic and citrus now would we? FON-DO: Get dessert! Mmmmmm.......chocolate! Put melted chocolate in your face. Use fruits and sweets as a vehicle to get chocolate into your gullet! Kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia! Obey my dog! FON-DON'T: Forget that if you want take home chocolate strawberries you must call and tell them ahead of your meal. They take time to cool to the proper temperature. -AND LASTLY- FON-DO: Be a frickin' billionaire. This place gets pricey in a hurry. Dinner for two will cost you at least a C note and probably more. Then when you go home in your Lamborghini you can rest comfortably on your unicorn skin pillow knowing that this was only a single leaf fallen from your massive oak tree of infinite money.

My husband and I have been dining at the Melting Pot for literally every special occasion (birthdays, anniversaries, visits with friends, just because) for 9 years. We have dined quite a few times at the Cincinnati location, and we have never had a bad server. The servers at the Melting Pot are the most friendly and energetic servers ever. I believe that this time our server was newer (he mentioned that he was not yet 21), yet he was still very accommodating and accurate (we have had a cheese disaster during one of our past visits at another location). The cheese and salad courses are hands down the best part of the menu! The meat portion is good (mostly due to the mushrooms, potatoes, and green goddess). The chocolate is good, but definitely not as good as it used to be. You can't go wrong with any of the chocolate options (our favorites are the Original, dark chocolate, and s'mores), but the dippers could be better. They offer pound cake, brownies, pineapples, bananas, rice krispy treats, covered marshmallows (oreo and graham cracker), and blondies. Personally, I would love to see more fruits and less of the other stuff. After eating 3 other courses, I am usually in no shape to consume pound cake, brownies, or marshmallows. The meal is usually a bit pricey, but we usually just go whenever they have some sort of special or for a special occasion.
