My first ever macarons! It was hard to make a decision with the wide selection but we tried a six pack. Framboise, earl grey tea, pistachio, cassis, fahrenheit 513 & salted caramel. I loved the framboise & cassis best. Very interesting dessert option- gluten free and very light. A bit pricey at $2/ macaron but I loved them!

The choices. Oh, my. The choices. Fortunately, they make one very important decision for you: you're getting macarons. So now that's out of the way, good luck picking your flavors. After discussing the options with the friendly man behind the counter, and asking him which were his personal favorites, I settled on a box of six: pistachio, Earl Grey, raspberry, salted caramel, hazelnut, and rose. Each was properly made and delicious, but the Earl Grey and the Salted Caramel were the stars of the box. Speaking of the box, the packaging is beautiful. Modern and bright, with easy access to the goods. Sadly, the box isn't big enough for six macarons. It was a huge disappointment to discover that some of my macarons had been crushed. I will definitely return in the future, but I hope they work out the packaging issue. Pretty macarons are far more important than a pretty box.

I've only been here once so far, but it was a very happy visit! These are the best macarons I've had in Cincinnati. (Taste of Belgium's are really good, but small. Bonbonerie's are fine, but not truly macarons.) My husband and I came on a Saturday night after dinner at Nicola's, just a few min before Macaron Bar closed. The store is bright and pleasant and surprisingly sparse. There are two alcoves for sitting and munching on your delicious cookies, but most of the space is behind the counter, reserved for the production of these delicate treats. We ordered pistachio, dark chocolate, raspberry, and black currant (or something like that... a purple one). Pistachio is our favorite flavor and the one we use to measure all macarons against. Macaron Bar's pistachio was quite good! In fact, all of the flavors were. And importantly, they had the right texture -- a bit of crunch to the shell, then softer when you bite down and chew. (But still light! Not dense or brownie-ish, like Bonbonerie's.) You can taste a hint of the almond base, which is nice. And the fillings are neither too creamy nor too icing-ish. Next time -- and there WILL be a next time -- we'll have to try our macarons with a cup of coffee. Sidebar: The design nerd in me loves the typography, colors, and boxes, and how they all tie in with the branding.

I love this joint! Macaroons are amazing in general but these are truly wonderful. They have mastered the perfect flavor & texture combination. I purchased a 6 pack when I came in. Lemon, chocolate, Chocolate mint, Madagascar Vanilla, Rose and Raspberry. My absolute favorite was the Rose. It was such a lovely delicate flavor, almost like champagne on cookie form. LOVE the rainbow decor popping off the all white walls. I will be back!

Picked up a 6 pack of macarons for my coworkers to enjoy last week and a couple more for a friend. At $2 a cookie you'd better be prepared to savor these tasty little cookies! A great way to savor is to buy a coffee here and grab a seat in the front of the store with a friend. The flavors change daily so be sure to check out what today's offerings are on Facebook. And consider getting there early so you don't experience your favorite flavor selling out earlier that day! Our favorites were the lemon, pistachio, and salted caramel!

My happy place! The staff here is always so kind and helpful. I've honestly never had a macaron from here that I didn't love. I didn't really eat macarons often before they opened, but they're so perfect that I don't really want to go anywhere else to try them in fear that they won't be as good!

WE popped in the other night while we were waiting for a table at Lachey's [which we never got, so we'll have to try again there, another time:)] And these were everything I had hoped they would be! The guys behind the counter were very friendly, and patient, while I pondered my 6 choices [you can buy boxes of 12 or 6, or just a macaroon] It was a very lovely experience with a lovely bit sized treat at the end! We will definatly be going back!

Seriously, this has to be the cutest place in the world! This place serves some dang good macarons!(not macaroons, mind you) These are made with almond flour not the coconut ones that everyone thinks of. These are pretty darn fancy, and so so good. They have a crisp outer shell and are then fluffy and sweet on the inside. You can buy them individually or in boxes of two, six or 12(you get a discount if you buy a dozen). I bought a dozen to take to a New Year's brunch but forgot them at home so my husband and I just ate them all instead! Best day ever! Definitely stop in and sample all of the flavors!

Macaron Bar (Over the Rhine location) was a sweet delight! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The sleek kitchen and mod decor provided a simple backdrop to highlight the rainbow of delicate French macarons. I purchased a box of 6 flavors for $12, package presentation was very modern and fun. My favorites flavors included salted caramel, earl grey tea, strawberry mint and my friend loved the rose. Staff mentioned that some flavors are seasonal and their pastry chef offers a 3 hour intro to macarons baking class on Saturdays to foodies and bakers of all levels.

Finally macarons in Cincinnati. This is a cute little shop on Main St in OTR. You can order from 14 different flavors of macarons. They have a lot of staple flavors like chocolate, pistachio and raspberry and more seasonal flavors that they rotate. When we went today, they had lavender and chocolate orange blossom. I'm a bit of a macaron snob so I might be grading these a little harder. The price of each macaron is very fair at $2. The taste is pretty decent although still has room for improvement. They have the texture and crouch of the cookie just right. I do wish that the flavor of each type would come out more though. For pistachio, I'd want to taste more sweetness and pistachio like the traditional ones that I can get in France. But I feel that there's enough potential that I would still come back to try more. There's also a new location coming to hyde park square.

I've literally been stalking the opening of macaron bar and was so excited to try! After a stressful day at work my fiancé surprised me with a 6 pack box - cinnamon, passion fruit, dark chocolate, green tea, strawberry, and salted caramel. The flavors were on point. My complaint is that they were a bit hard. Not that crisp outer layer with that chewy soft cookie middle right before you hit the middle ganache - but just hard with only a little bit of chew. Let me tell you - I'm a a macaron fanatic (naturally gf how could I not be?!) I look forward to brunch at Taste of Belgium specifically because we typically try a few of their macarons which are always delicious. Sweet petit also makes a mean macaron. With the options right around the corner in OTR I unfortunately found myself unimpressed with our macarons.

The heavens had answered my prayers and brought a macaron shop to Cincinnati.. and I am so happy!! Nestled into the perfect spot on Main St., this cute little macaron shop offers a variety of macaron flavors from your typical ones to some other fun flavors. I was very excited to see that they had earl grey tea and green tea matcha ones. I had the macarons here for the first time tonight and was skeptical at first because my first bite was a bit dry and chewy, but after a few more bites into it, I got that buttery and creamy filling that was delicious. I am thinking since I bought them towards the end of the day, they just weren't as fresh.. but they were delicious and made me want to come back for my future macaron cravings!

Some of the best Macarons I've had, hands down. They have tons of flavors, so there's something for every mood and palate here. I got a box of 6, choosing black currant, cinnamon, salted caramel, raspberry, dark chocolate, and passion fruit. The cinnamon and salted caramel stood out, but the passion fruit was the clear winner. If you love passion fruit, these are a soft, chewy passion fruit bomb. If you don't like passion fruit (like my wife), then these aren't for you. The space is very nice and clean, albeit small. I love the funky decor, and the guy working the counter was super nice and explained everything to us. There are only a couple of reasons they don't earn five stars. One is the price. They are just a bit too much at $2. Like someone else said, $1.50 would be perfect. I know Macarons are labor intensive, but it seems most of the price is going into the fancy store front and packaging. Speaking of packaging, that brings me to my other reason for not giving them 5 stars. They have boxes specially made for their half dozen and dozen sizes, but the boxes themselves are only big enough to fit 5 and 11 respectively. They should go with something less fancy that actually fits all of them and pass the savings on to the customer. Still though, the cookies are amazing and I'll definitely be back.

YUM!!!! My favorite is the lemon macaron. 2$ coffee to go with delicious macarons make the perfect afternoon snack on a weekend. I hear they do macaron making classes for 95$

My boyfriend brought home a large box of these meringue cookies as a surprise for me. At $2 a cookie we weren't that impressed. The flavors are very light, not intense in any way. Of all the cookies we tried, the lemon was the only one that had any type of bold flavor at all. They are fresh though, and I did enjoy the texture. They would make a good accompaniment to coffee, hot tea or even hot chocolate. But I wouldn't go out of my way for these.

  • M. G.

The cookie part of the macaron is blah and dry. They're all the same flavor of almost-almond with different colors in the meringue. The filling is what makes the cookie, apparently. I had a rose macaron on Macaron Day. It was too light and barely floral. I got a lot of sweet, but not a bunch of rose flavor. The cookie was good, but I wasn't blown away. I doubt I'll be back to purchase a sleeve of (expensive) cookies.

A bakery dedicated to nothing but macarons? I mean, how could this be anything but amazing?!?!? When I stayed with family over the holidays in Northern Kentucky, I got to meet the Yelp Cincy CM (Hi Cindy!) one morning for brunch. She mentioned that just down the street, a new bakery had opened up that we should try. And really, she had me at "Macaron Bar." The clean and white shop isn't very big, but considering it's only selling one type of pastry -- the delicate, French macaron -- it doesn't need much room. The front had a few tables, and separating the seating area from where the macarons are made is the counter, which displays an array of the colorful cookies. On my visit I got the six-piece box for $12, and filled it with one each of the salted caramel, raspberry, pistachio, chocolate, vanilla and pumpkin (seasonal) macarons. The salted caramel was my favorite. The mix of salty and sweet in such a delectable package really added complexity to the normal dainty macaron. The raspberry and pumpkin were also stand-outs. I was also impressed with Macaron Bar's packaging. The adorable blue and orange boxes give you such an adorable package to take home with you. Macaron Bar, please open up a location in Louisville! I would love you forever!

Slight update: Last time I was there we ordered a box of 6 and 2 coffees. The carafe ran out of coffee on our second cup. The clerk said, Oh its out! Is that enough for you? Staring at my 3/4 of the way full cup of coffee I thought, I didn't want to be a bother, so I said yes, no problem. But honestly, the coffee isn't cheap. And I didn't pay 100% of the price to get 75% of the product o.0 I miss that clerk who gave me free macarons! Part of excellent customer service is going above and beyond. And mostly consideration in the form of anticipating a customers needs before they know it themselves. Aka, me staring at my non-full cup of coffee. Iol Oh well! slight hiccup. still love the place! The price is really scary for me even though it's the average price for macarons. I would almost prefer to pay for macarons for half the size and half the price because the fun for me is trying all the different flavors. I walked in on a very rainy day, and the parking and neighborhood was not so great, but I was determined to try these babies! I tried all 13 flavors that were available. I got a box of 12 ($23) and an extra one $2 more. There is also a 6 pack box for $12. The website also says they give student discounts, I forgot to show my student ID. whoops, the clerk didn't ask either. He also accidentally smooshed one of my macarons and gave me a free one on the house =] Now that we've gone over pricing and portion; TASTE. Green Tea and Chocolate Noir were the only 2 that didn't impress me. Raspberry, passion fruit, earl grey tea, and others were all very delicious! I can't tell if I'll be back or not. It was a really cute place. Their macaron making class is $95

I have been here 3 times in one month now. At first I thought they were a bit pricey, but after wandering around the city for Macaron Day, I'd say they have one of the best deals around. I've had most of the flavors at this point, and I'd put my top 3 at Earl Grey (lightly flavored, as soothing as drinking a cup of tea), Salted Caramel, and Lemon (refreshing, not tangy). The seasonal Irish Cream was possibly best of all, and I hope that comes back next year. The shop is adorable, the cookies tasty, and the owner friendly. Check it out.

Ah, Macaron Bar. The highly anticipated and wonderful addition to Main Street is finally here! In case you are wondering - a Macaron is a French sweet meringue based cookie made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food coloring and filled with a creamy ganache center. Sounds delicious right? Well now you can stuff your face with these delicious little treats between the hours of: Monday - Thursday: 8am - 7pm Friday - Saturday: 8am - 10pm Sunday: 9am - 5pm Their macarons can be purchased individually, or in boxes of 6 or 12. Pricing is: - $2 a piece - $12 for a 6-piece box - $23 for a 12-piece box (Pro tip: They do offer a student discount if you show your ID) Also just a heads up all of their macarons are gluten free and they also serve pour over coffee from Deeper Roots and tea from Essencha Tea House. Their flavor lineup includes: Caramel Salé | Salted Caramel Cassis | Blackcurrant Chocolat Noir | Dark Chocolate Citron | Lemon Framboise | Raspberry Fruit de la Passion | Passion Fruit Pistache | Pistachio Praliné Noisette | Hazelnut Praline Thé Earl Grey | Earl Grey Tea Thé Vert Matcha | Matcha Green Tea Vanille de Madagascar | Madagascar Vanilla Seasonal flavors include: Cannelle | Cinnamon Champagne | Champagne Menthe | Peppermint We tried a box of six; The Earl Grey, Pistachio, Passionfruit, Raspberry, Hazelnut & Chocolate. To be honest, the ones I loved were the ones I least expected. The passionfruit & raspberry were bursting with flavor and were definitely our favorites. The pistachio just didn't give me enough of that salty flavor I was looking for. And the hazelnut & chocolate were just a little boring. If I were you, I would suggest stepping outside your comfort zone and getting a sampler of some of their more creative flavors. Overall loved my experience and appreciate the texture and delicate nature of these little treats. I know how difficult they are to make. Huge high five & a big welcome to OTR. Keep up the great work!

I have visited Macaron Bar's Hyde Park location several times now and have generally found their macarons to be very good! I have lived in Europe twice and these compare favorably to those that I have had in Brussels and Paris!

This is my second time eating a Macaron ever in my life. I've heard of it and wanted to know what this sweet dessert everyone is raving about. I know most know what it is but those who don't, a macaron is a drop cookie made of egg whites, sugar, usually almond paste or coconut, and sometimes a little flour. The first time I tried it was in Atlanta at a Paris Baguette- a specialty baked goods store. The flavor was caramel and it was okay. It was a bit stale. When I heard there would be a macron bar opening up downtown, I had to check it out myself. When I entered, a gentleman greeted me and was very friendly and helpful. There was many Macarons displayed and freshly made. It was so hard to choose. You can either get them: -$2.00 each -6 piece box for $12.00 -Dozen for $23.00 I decided to just try three flavors since the last time I tried a macaron, it was bad. I got: -Caramel -Praline -Pistacio My favorite was the Caramel!!! OMG! The taste just sat in my mouth and was so delicious!! Now I wish I would have gotten a 6 piece box!!! :) The Macaron bar is very spacious with seating. I love the retro decor! Besides Macarons, you can purchase beverages (coffee, tea, bottle/can products and more). After trying their product, I don't think I want to eat them anywhere else but here. An FYI, their macarons may contain nuts for those of you who have a peanut allergy and they are also gluten free. A great addition to the Over the Rhine area!

After an exceptionally awful dinner in Newport, I needed something to wash away the taste and memory of that meal. Thank heavens the Macaron Bar was open! This was my first visit, but it won't be my last. Paul wasn't real excited about the area where Macaron Bar resides, I work in Over-the-Rhine, so I felt completely comfortable. The Macaron Bar itself is shiny and pristine inside, which his quite a contrast to the exterior of the building. The gentleman who served us did just fine. A macaron at Macaron Bar runs about $2.00. Before you get your knickers in a knot about the price, I suggest doing the following. First, look up a macaron recipe on Pinterest and you will see how complex they are to make. Second, try one! Since there were three of us visiting, we decided to get a dozen macarons (that's four a piece in case you were wondering). I chose the vanilla, passion fruit, lemon, and chocolate orange, which was the daily special. The passion fruit was by far my favorite. It was several bites of perfection. My least favorite was the chocolate orange because the chocolate was somewhat overpowering, making the orange difficult to discern. Did I mention that I'll be back?

Am definitely a huge fan. Very nice place, looks modern, clean, almost like a lab for those colorful round treats. My favorite flavors are caramel, coffee and raspberry. It always makes a great small gift for my wife, never disappoints! My only complaint: most of the time macarons are fresh and awesome, crunchy and chewy at the same time. But sometimes they seemed a bit stale. Consistent quality is difficult, but possible. Will keep coming back!

After a lovely lunch at a nearby restaurant in O-T-R my date and I decided to explore the rest of the neighborhood. We stumbled upon the Macaron Bar, which is in the middle of a block that appears to be going through some gentrification. As a big, BIG fan of macarons I was very, very excited this would be my dessert option. Upon walking in the first things I noticed... Wowzers, it's really bright in here! And hoooray for super cold air conditioning! The look to the MB is very minimal and lacking in color except for a few pops of color in the seating. I decide upon the blackcurrant and the green tea macarons. We take a seat in bright red chairs and watch the construction workers outside the window. Blackcurrant was up first. The texture of the macaron was spot on. The flavor was just ok. I try the green tea, and it was a total winner in my book! I loved it! Not too sweet. It for sure tastes like green tea.... the chilled kind with sweetener. So yummy! For spending only $4 on a dessert that I love, I felt this was worth the stop in. I would have taken a box home with me too if it weren't so warm outside that day.

Love the decor, love the macarons! Best macarons I've had in Cincinnati thus far! I've tried them from Taste of Belgium and Bella Terra but Macaron Bar is my favorite. They have unique flavors and each macaron is $2. My favorite flavor was the Raspberry! That's a pretty good deal for a macaron, and they're decently sized! A sleeve of 6 is $12. Worth the buy! Seriously, I'd take a sleeve of these babies over a bouquet of flowers any day! They come in a snazzy looking box too! We came 5 minutes to closing time and they were very nice. Didn't try to shoo us out or anything, and they were open to our questions. I'm so glad this place opened up!

I like the Macaron Bar - it's a cute environment but I wasn't blown away. I enjoyed the variety of flavors - the raspberry and vanilla are classic. The pistacio with dark chocolate was a little overpowering as well as the salted caramel. Overall, I'd go back and get these for gifts when going places but it wasn't as soft as the famous Laudree Macaroons from Paris. Love the decor, though!

A must-see and oddly specific venue catering to macarons and macarons only. For the life of me I can't understand how a place like this can exist from a business model perspective, but hey, I'm gonna love it while it's there. Not cheap, but not a bank breaker either-- for two bucks you can get a tiny and insanely delicious cookie in one of a dozen flavors --and just when you think you've tried them all, they throw out something new, like Chocolate Orange Blossom (magnificent). So far my favorite is Passion Fruit, but a wide variety is available including yummy Chocolate, an oddly perfume tasting Rose, and a couple of unexpected Tea flavors. You'll probably want to get a box of six for $12 or a dozen for $23 and then you'll somehow woof them all down before the end of the night. It's okay, nobody was looking! Macaron Bar also offers $93 classes on Saturdays (that include all the macarons you make - like 36ish) and some excellent graphic design choices Anyone else ever wonder why it's not spelled macaroons? I feel like I should be calling them MacaRONs. What's up with that?

The macaroons are ok. It is a very nice shop i just wish the price was cheaper for one piece. It is nice that you can watch them make them and also they offer classes.

I never got the hype about macaroons. I didn't quite understand what was so great about them because in my mind they were just a small cookie. And cookies are delicious but they can't be THAT great, right? Wrong. I am so glad my first taste of macaroons came from The Macaroon Bar. It's in the most lovely part of town although it's no secret Over the Rhine district is drool worthy and full of culture and amazing art. However I love the clean simplistic style of the inside of the Macaron Bar and we haven't even got to the macaroons yet! This place is great because they focus solely on macaroons so you know they're going to be really good. They have amazing flavors although I stuck to a lemon and got a little more wild with a rose macaroon, I confidently think you could get any single macaroon and be so happy. They also have an assortment of teas and coffee to go with your treat. My first bite of macaroon helped me completely understand the hype and I'm sad that I lived my life for so long without knowing the glorious treat of a macaroon from the Macaron Bar. Go here. Now.

Macaron Bar is a cool concept. I like their decor, the fresh pour over coffee, and the variety of unique macarons. But there's basically no furniture inside, so there's nowhere to sit and enjoy your snack...And this place is expensive. $2 for a cookie?? That's just crazy. Their macarons are not any better than ones that I have had at other stores in Cincinnati...But I'm also not a macaron expert, so maybe I'm missing something. I don't know if it's just me, but macarons are the new popular food fad that I think I should like, but I am just not that into them. Sure, the texture is really cool (crunchy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside), but the flavors are too mild for me. And they're SO SMALL for how much they cost. I always end up buying a macaron from here because they look so beautiful, and then they're gone in about two bites...And all I'm left with is regret that I didn't just go and get a more substantial snack elsewhere.

A French pastry shop in the heart of OTR! Who would've thought, right? As someone who isn't a big pastry eater, I'm new to the whole Macaron thing so I was excited about trying out this new place. Macaron Bar is a cute little shop that's bright, airy and colorful. This makes it nearly impossible to miss while strolling down Main St. Once you're inside, you're instantly engulfed by the sleek, clean, ultramodern look and feel. During my first visit, I was greeted by a super friendly guy behind the counter. I explained to him that I was a macaron newbie so he took the time to explain flavors, ingredients and a little bit of background about macarons in general for me. I really appreciated that! He was so pleasant and recommended a few of the seasonal flavors. I had one of the Valentine's day flavors (I can't remember the name, of course) but it had dark chocolate and a little bit of spice as well as the champagne flavor. Both of them were excellent! Overall, I really liked Macaron Bar and will definitely be back. Not only will I be back but I'll be sure to send some friends their way as well. My only critique is the size of the macarons, they are pretty small, about the size of an oreo. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all about portion control but I think $2 is a bit much for an oreo sized treat. It would be nice if the price were closer to $1.50 ea. rather than $2. I don't know but $2 seems like a lot for something so small. All in all I was very impressed by Macaron Bar and I'm sure they'll be an OTR staple for quite some time!

Having heard of concept and the price point I was suspicious, BUT I had never had a macaron before! In short: the place is bright and delightful, friendly folks and an incredible treat! This description is gonna get weird, trust me, but to call a macron a cookie is to call a Ferrari just a car. These treats are an experience! The first moments are light and crispy with subtle flavors and aromas. Quickly yielding to soft and chewy, a burst of rich and moderately intense flavor tapers into subtle creamy bliss. Again they are an experience! I almost want miniatures about 1/3 the size to I don't have to nibble to savor! I tried the Chocolate, Raspberry, Vanilla, Lavender, Pistachio, and Salted Caramel. They were all stunning in their own right, but I found Pistachio and Lavender to be a surprising and decadent pair. They also serve Deeper Roots coffee, so I'll put them on my morning cup radar!

My macaroons were Reeeeaalllllyyy dry. I bought about a dozen or so at the convention center. They tasted a few days old. Wish they would have brought them fresh daily. The flavor was there so it seemed although it was difficult to distinguish through the texture. I will try again however I'm going to make sure that they are fresh.

Awesome place and the macaroons are amazing! Not much seating. There is a good variety of different flavor and they are so fluffy and fresh. One macaroon is $2 and it's hard to eat just one.

Before going to Macaron Bar I'd never actually eaten a macaron so I had nothing to compare them to. Almost everyone on Yelp raved so I knew I'd have to give them at least one try. I ordered six and was very disappointed in the pricing. I just felt it was a bit much for these little things. They were very flavorful, my favorite being the vanilla and the passion fruit. The location is cute, very simple and I like how you can see the staff making macarons behind the counter. The place almost seems to big for a such a small selection of small cookies but I've heard they offer classes on how to make them. Unfortunately, I wasn't so impressed that I will be back any time soon for a teeny tiny $2 macaron but it did make for a nice treat with my friends.

Macaron Bar has perfected the french delicacy known as the macaron. I've had my fair share of macarons from my travels, and more often then not, the macarons aren't quite right- they're either stale, too sweet, too little filling, or have airbubbles. However, I'm happy to say Macaron Bar right here has avoided all of these setbacks- these cookies are a perfect balance of crispy, chewy, and creamy, all in one bite. The location and concept of Macaron Bar are also great additions to the culture of OTR. A few notes on the price point- As many have posted, $2 may seem a bit pricey for a cookie. However, compared to the baking processes of other cookies, the macaron requires much more care and attention. There are so many little steps, from sifting almond flour to ensuring the air bubbles are out, to create a perfect macaron. Compared to many other places I've been, $2 is actually on the lower end of the spectrum. A sleeve or box of macarons would be a great gift for a birthday, valentine's day, or "just because.." A little goes a long way with these- definitely try them out!

I have never had one of these until this past Second Sunday On Main and boy was I delighted. The treats are so light but rich and the boxes are a great deal for small groups like I had. They have so many favors that I had a tough time just picking 3 but I didn't taste one I didn't like. I rather enjoyed the cafe one and the fruit inspired ones.

Lovely concept, macarons are incredibly cute and elegant at the same time. Very nice idea for a treat to self, or a small gift! Macarons are fresh and tasty. They are adorably imperfect, as you can see the differences in size and colours. As a local version of Ladurees they are great!

Only 3 days ago I would've told you I don't like macarons. Now that has become a lie. My coworker had ordered a macaron tree for an event at work, and I tried SO HARD to ignore the thing and stay put at my desk. Unfortunately, there was a mystery flavor--the blue--that no one could identify, so in an effort to enlighten everyone I walked over and plucked it off the tree. One bite, and I knew: Early Grey! I'm a sucker for any tea-flavored confections, especially Japanese matcha. After tasting the Earl Grey, I went on Macaron Bar's website and lo and behold there was a matcha-flavored macaron. Even Laduree does not boast the likes of one. Out of curiosity, I stopped by the shop in OTR after work and rediscovered my intense fascination with macarons. I swear it's something in the colors, the different flavors, and perfect texture that makes your heart skip a beat. They look so wonderful that you just have to take a bite of each and every flavor. It's like collector's items (taster's items?). For someone who has been spoiled by Laduree and Pierre Herme, I am very impressed by Macaron Bar. It's damn hard to make a macaron. They hold classes, which are quite pricey but probably worth it for the hardcore enthusiast.

I've never bought macarons fresh before. They were very fresh and gluten-free. It was a lot like buying donuts - get a pack of six or twelve. There were a lot of flavors. I picked up 6. I liked the pistachio one the most but all were good. Didn't like the green tea one very much but there were a lot of interesting flavors. I'm giving it 4 stars though because I'm a bit weary of the dyes in the macaroons and the cost was a little much. But hey do what you gotta do. It's a rare place, gotta make money and I wish I had some more. I like this place. Good for a gift - instead of chocolates - give macarons.

Bright well designed store, great macarons, exceptional service and large selection of flavors; all lead up to a great experience in an extremely niché dessert market. Who would have ever thought that Over-The-Rhine would spotlight a macaron bar right in the center of it all? Not me. When it opened my main thoughts were, "How is this place going to stay open?" After trying it out - I realized that they are 'that' amazing. Strange thing about Taste of Belgium attempting to make macarons is that Macaron Bar had so much more flavor. I've had plenty of macarons in my lifetime. However I really think that this place obviously goes over the top, after being skeptical about its existence in O-T-R, I can't imagine the neighborhood without it. Macaron Bar he brought a new energy, a new focus, and more 'liveliness' to the area. (Not sure how to get the words out, but I hope you get the gist.) My three favorite flavors are the: - Pistache Praliné - Noisette Fruit de la Passio - Champagne I've tried many, but those three are the closest to my heart... Erhm... Stomach! Last thing I would like to mention is the pricing. Personally I find them to be an inexpensive treat, for people mentioning them as 'high-priced' remember that this is a small business niché market. Be thankful they're here. After every O-T-R dinner I must stop by Macaron Bar for dessert. P.S. I am planning on taking a macaron making class soon!

These delectable cookies will cause sleepless nights in bed, while you lay awake dreaming of the fluffy, crunchy, creamy, yummy goodness that envelopes your mouth when you bite into one. I'm salivating now as we speak. Every flavour is amazing, but salted caramel, pistachio, vanilla bean, and chocolate are must tries. Staff is super friendly, and my god the coffee is the best cup in town! My credit card has felt many many swipes there since they opened, and it will feel more.

The Macaron Bar is simply AMAZING. I am literally addicted to their macarons because they are unbelievably delicious. I can NEVER come to OTR without stopping by The Macaron Bar, its just SO GOOD! The only NEGATIVE thing about this place is that it is not open 24/7 lol!!! no, really the only down side would be that they don't have enough seatings, I like their decor and I wish they had more seatings so more people can hangout for coffee/tea and macarons instead of grabbing them to go when the available seats are taken. ****Please be advised that if you try their macarons you will become addicted to them, FOREVER! lol

Oh my macaron. I wish I had a lot of excuses to buy these delightful treats all day long so I can gaze at the pretty colors of macarons in the lovely colorful boxes.. and then eat them all. I bought some to share with my office but after a few tastes I can tell you I half wished that I had kept them all to myself. The flavors are delicate and delicious. You can pair with some essencha teas or deeper roots coffee. The space is bright, open, and modern, and you can see all the magical creation of macarons before your eyes (check out that giant stand mixer!). Love it!

I don't know whether to give this a three or a four star review. Lol I love macaroons so it is biased at best just for the sake of loving them so much. I got a box of six....in order of favorites this is what it was: 1. Pistachio: ate a room temperature like suggested quite a delicious and nutty flavor. 2. Raspberry: always a win with me, all though, it was cream filled and I really enjoy the inside filled with a raspberry purée. 3. Earl grey: the cookie was lovely with a hint of earl grey. The cream filling was buttery and complimented it very well. 4. Rose: the most disappointing of the bunch. I was really sad because rose is my favorite choice of any choice ever given. There was no flavor or scent of rose. It tasted like vanilla. So sad.... It was the one I was most excited about. The directions within the box say to keep refrigerated and let come to room temp before indulging. Since I ordered two raspberry and two rose, I thought it may enlighten the experience at room temp. And so it does, except the Rose. Still a standard almond cookie with cream filling. So sad. As for the consistency of the cookies...they are perfect. Chewy flakey and soft all that the same time...heaven I tell you. The cream inside compliments them most of the time. But, if some macaroons (like the raspberry) were filled with a fruit purée, it would seem more decadent to me. It seems for the sake of simplicity the use one standard cream that they add flavor too...where is the artistry in that?? I will be back if I am in the area. But, I will def just go to Whole Foods' bakery if i was made to choose. The flavors at whole foods are pretty standard, but def live up to what you expect from the flavor. I hope to come back to this place and see if maybe they make a change to the Rose macaroon and actually add some Rose water to it.

I have tried macarons from France several times and even others in the United States. They should be light and not fight back with you when you try to bite into them. These macarons (I got a box of 12) were almost like biting into a regular cookie. I shouldn't have to fight my way to the filling. The flowery flavors were better than the chocolate and caramel type flavors. They tasted a lot more fresh and not as industrial as the chocolate type flavors. I wouldn't go back to this place. Sorry. For my money, I'll order online or try The BonBonnerie.

Best selection I've ever seen! Each is strikingly different, even offering tangerine and pistachio. The Rose and Pistachio are my favorites. The service is always quick and friendly. The employees are incredibly nice. Favorite dessert. I frequently over indulge.

I have been anxiously waiting for this place to open so when it popped up my news feed that they would be opening 12/12 at 10am I was there! They did not disappoint. I consider myself a sort of macaron aficionado having eaten my way through every macaron shop in the NYC and Philadelphia area this summer and my instant search for the closest macaron shop whenever I am out of town. These delicious cookies are on par with my visit to Laduree. I cannot wait to see what other flavors they bring. This little shop is a much needed addition to the growing Cincinnati food scene. The shop itself is so cute, bright and welcoming. I also met one of the owners, Nathan, he was equally cute, bright and welcoming lol. I will be a frequent customer.

Today was the grand opening, and since our office is around the corner we decided to stop in. It looks great (everything is very clean, open and white) and they had 7 different types of macarons available. We did a 6 pack or different flavors and they were all excellent. I also got a coffee while I was there and it was really good (and brewed right before my eyes). The cookies are light and the creamy centers are fabulous. This is a great light desert or treat... This place is a great addition to the neighborhood and we are excited to make regular visits.

I recently tried macarons here for the first time so I can't really compare them to other macarons. However, I did think they were delicious and I loved the variety of flavors they had. They were very pricey though. Again, since I haven't had macarons before I'm not sure how the price compares to others. Probably a little too pricey for me to want to go back

Their macarons are soooo good! This was my first time there and I got the hazelnut, dark chocolate and lemon. They were all great, and the hazelnut and dark chocolate went fantastic with my coffee I got down the road. The only thing is that I wish they had more flavors to choose from, they had about 12. I can't wait to go back and I hope to go to one of their classes in the next couple of months.

Cool, trendy little spot with good macaroons! The raspberry and salted caramel are two of my favorites! $2/each, 12 for $23.

Let's just say that the Macaron Bar had way better macaroons than anyplace in Quebec City. They are that good. The Caramel is a must to try. You can thank me now. If you are anywhere close to OTR and want a dessert this is where I would go

Adorable shop, lovely macarons, and quality coffee/tea. I do wish there were more seating and more of a coffee shop vibe, so that I could sit and hat with friends while enjoying my coffee and macarons. But great flavors, great taste, and I'm so happy Cincinnati finally got a shop dedicated to macarōns!

My husband and I cannot stop coming here, it's amazing. It's a cute little shop, and all the flavors I've tried are amazing.

We were anxiously awaiting the opening of the macaron bar and it was worth the wait. We got a 6 box with vanilla, hazelnut, citron, salted caramel, raspberry, and cinnamon. They all are great but my least favorite was the raspberry. A little to sweet for my tastes. These macarons are so fresh it's incredible as they make everything daily. That also is the down side to a new small business. They don't have all of there flavors available everyday and were prone to selling out before the holidays. As they progress I'm sure they will learn there daily demand and adjust accordingly. I'm glad there 20 minutes from my home or I'd be here all the time.

I don't see what the fuss is all about. These are some of the worst macarons that I have ever tried. They were hard, overly chewy and dried out. The ratio of filling to cookie is totally off -- some of the macarons barely had any filling at all. Most of the flavors were very artificial tasting. The best one out of the batch was the Earl Grey. Most of the fruit flavors tasted like Starburst candy, but without the pleasing chewiness. If you are going to open a shop that focuses solely on macarons, you better have the recipe and technique nailed. There are plenty of better shops around town to purchase macarons - Frieda's, Brown Bear, and Taste of Belgium to name a few. Don't waste your money here. A well-designed interior does not make up for an inferior product.
