Hasn't anyone noticed the cockroaches? First time I went there I saw one crawling on the wall next to me. I told the staff and they just shrugged it off. Walked out of the place and never went back. Deep India on McMillan is so much better in my opinion anyways.

I and my girlfriend went to this restaurant and had lunch together yesterday, couple of hours later we both had symptoms include diarrhoea and vomiting, I have been there for couple of times, but this time the food is not CLEAN!

The taste is actually fine but it is not CLEAN!!! Yesterday immediately after my boyfriend and I had chicken tikka masala and lamb, our stomachs got upset. That was definitely a horrible night! Considering the price and its potential risks, at least we won't stop by and take anything.

Best Indian food I have ever ate. I've been coming here for almost 7 years now and will always return when I'm in town. I live in NYC and still can't find one that comes close to the quality that this place has. I highly recommend eating here!

Best Indian take-out/sit-down restaurant in the Clifton area. I'm a student at UC and have eaten at Krishna for 4 years now on quite a regular basis. Excellent and speedy service, if you order by phone you can be sure to receive it within the 10 to 15 minute time span they allow. Cannot recommend it enough.

Krishna carry out is my version of comfort food- definitely my favorite Indian restaurants in the area. Coming from an Indian background, I had Indian food 3-4 times a week growing up, and grew to become fairly critical of any Indian food other than my mother's. Most "fast" Indian food (compared to sit-down restaurants) tend to have the same underlying spice flavors with a mix of different ingredients. However, each of Krishna's menu items has a distinct, authentic taste, comparable to my own my mother's cooking. It's delicious and feels like home. If you're new to Indian food, I'd recommend getting familiar with some terms. Makhni's are cream-based sauces, masala's are tomato-based sauces, and saag is a spinach-based sauce. A fair amount of menu items are a variation of one of these 3 sauces. I've tried atleast 10 different menu items, ranging from chicken makhni to a saag choley, and have enjoyed them all equally. In terms of spice level, you can choose a level between 1-10. The nice thing about Krishna is that even if you order an item on the lower end of the spice spectrum, you don't have to worry about losing any flavor. In fact, though I can handle a fair amount of spice, I often go for the 2 or 3 because the flavor's great to start. All meals come with a large helping of rice- plenty to pair with your meal. I definitely recommend getting a naan (bread) along with your meal to dip in the sauce. If you order lunch, naan comes with your meal! It's primarily a to-go place so they haven't spent much on the interior. If you chose to dine in, there are a few table and benches within Krishna. The service is always quick, but I recommend calling in ahead of time as they do get busy. Try this place if you're around! But I must warn you... Schedule in time for a nap after a Krishna because it tends to cause food comas.

If you are hungry and on a budget, I can see how this place would fit your needs. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, roti and salty lassi. The chicken tikka masala was ok. I appreciated that the food was piping hot, but the chicken was dry and rubbery and the flavor was not to my liking ( I felt too much cilantro was added). The quality of the roti was also lacking and the consistency of the lassi was off. The lassi mixture was not homogenous and it seemed that they mostly used the whey of the yogurt. It was extremely sour, diluted and chunky. I couldn't take more than two sips and would not purchase this again.

Krishna is convienent for a college campus. Easy to go food and the quality is great. I just don't prefer the styrofoam that each meal is served in. I realize that's their choice and its a small operation. I don't have to eat there. I still occasionally come in though because there's something authentic about the taste that other indian places in Cincinnati don't have. Their heat is a little spicy if you're not into that. So a 1 is usually about a 3 in most restaurants. But that's okay!

I have never had any problems here(except with the samosa chole and navratan korma which are not good to taste). Good comfort food to eat once in a while. They use a new pan for every dish(plus point) and you basically have the same gravy dish Indian menu as any "punjabi" place. One time I went to order and the large man behind the counter was really angry and asked me thrice why I was there. I was stumped but I told him I wanted to order food, is that OK? Bit ridiculous but anyway. Sometimes they do not have delivery based on van driver availability. Minimum 20-25$ order for delivery. They sometimes stare a lot so try to call ahead for your take-out.

The naan is free during lunch time. The Chicken Tikka Masala is the only thing I've tried here so far. For $10 plus a tip they give you a good amount of food compared to other places.

Krishna! This place rocks, especially with their stellar lunch deals. You can dine in, but expect seating to fill up quickly. There are only a few spaces to sit anyway. Food arrives quickly and steaming hot! It's always too much for me to eat in one sitting, so I consider buying Krishna a 2-meal investment. I love the curry here and generally order that with naan. My #1 pick whenever I eat Indian food is saag paneer. It's pretty good at Krishna -- everyone has their own taste preferences, but I actually enjoy the saag paneer down the street more than here (cough*Deep India* cough). Great place around campus for your Indian fix. As always, don't wear anything you don't mind strong food smells to seep into ;)

Best curry in the Cincinnati area. Small restaurant with 3 tables. I would suggest calling for a to go order or come at a non busy hour. Nan is very good.

  • Nony G.

I crave Krishna regularly. The saag paneer is sooo good. Most entrees can be split and shared with plenty to fill two bellies, which makes it excellent on a budget. Friends and I will often order three entrees between 4 or 5 people, so it's about $5 each and we get a variety. The only thing I dislike is that the guy working the counter is always kind of short with you.

I've been going to Krishna's for over 15 years, its gotten to the point now that I just call and as soon as they hear my voice they know exactly what I want. I've eaten ALOT of Indian food over the years and this place is still the best I've ever had. The only complaint I have about Krishna's is its a little hard to find parking for pick up orders (I usually just leave my car on the street in a no parking zone), you kids at UC are lucky you can just walk to the place.

Easily my favorite indian restaurant in the city. Krishna doesn't have the best location, nor service or dining but that's totally all part of the experience. I think for me it's the nostalgia of college, but I Krishna and have tried others but this little dicey gem will always reign supreme for me. The menu is simple, the workers keep ordering simple, simply by some limited English but it's all good. I've personally had any issues. I always dine in which can be hit or miss, like others have mentioned they only have 3 booths. When you dine in there are pitchers of water in the fridge and a carousel of sauces to help yourself. During lunch hours they do give free Nan which is my favorite and saves $2-3, and with their portions are easily two meals and at $7-9 a dish this is a steal. My favorites are the vegetable jalfrezi, or sag paneer. Spicy level is 1-6 and I go for 4-5 which definitely has a spicy kick but isn't unenjoyable if you know what I mean. I love this place, and will always love this place. The fact that clifton has torn down and put up so many franchises triple the size of this place and it's still surviving is all the proof you need.

This place is authentic. The menu is vast with many offerings and breads. The place is small and hard to sometimes find seating. Prices are not bad. I always get the tikka masala with chicken. Its hot fresh and delicious. Water in pitchers are provided which is nice. Large portions too. Sharable for sure.

This is my favorite Indian spot. Tiki Masala or curry with vegetables are delectable. Careful with the heat, they can light you up. Be sure to try their Naan bread as well. Yum!

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants period. My husband took me to this little hole-in-the-wall a while ago and I absolutely love it. He attended UC and this was one of his favorite places to grab lunch and now we order take-out all the time. Its pretty small and may not look like a great place to eat but its seriously some of the best Indian food I've ever had.

This is the first Indian restaurant I tried! The best one around UC campus. Love the food. The owner and cooks are all from India. I usually get lamb curry. They give you large portion. I suggest get the nan bread too. It tastes really good with the curry.

This was my first experience with Indian food...What can I say, I decided to be spontaneous and embark on a new culinary adventure (i.e. the guy I am dating suggested we try this place...) I was unsure about what to order, so I followed his lead. We split Paneer Pakoras as an appetizer. These reminded me of fried mozzarella sticks with a hint of spice in the breading. So good! They are served with three "dipping sauces" which had varying levels of spice. For our main dish, we both ordered Saag Paneer and Garlic Naan. Since l have a very white-person love for creamed spinach, I really enjoyed this dish. It has cubes of soft cheese bobbing in a spicy creamed spinach mixture served with rice...Does it get any better? I gave Krishna 4 out of 5 stars only because I have no other experience with Indian food in which to compare it. I plan on revisiting in the future!

Lamb vindaloos and garlic naan. The essence of true Indian. Spicy, Fragrant, Aromatic. This is the best of Cincinnati Indian.

This place is one of my favorite eats in Clifton simply because their food never fails to satisfy my Indian food cravings and they have quick service. Because it is so small indoors, I would recommend calling in ahead to order and then carrying out. I've never heard anything bad about this place and it is because it is truly delicious. It is a must-have if you're living in Clifton.

Delicious indian food, economic and served with a smile. Just like in India! We tried several dishes since we did lunch and dinner here on the same day. Yes! They are that good. Chai is amazing too!

Apparently, this is what a 2-star rating on Yelp means: "Meh. I've experienced better." That is a good reflection of how I feel about this place. This place isn't super vegan friendly. They have about 3 possible items without dairy or meat in them (samosa chaat, chana masala, aloo mutter). That'd be okay, if the few options were good. From what I tried, I was not very impressed. The price wasn't worth it for so much rice and so little variety. For a better price, I have found some yummier Indian food. Also, the level of spiciness is disappointingly much less than what I'm used to from Indian food. Maximum level of spice, and it wasn't spicy at all. Quality and flavor overall are not so good. Meh. I've experienced better.

I am a UC student and frequent visitor to this restaurant. What's Good ? Among all the dishes that he provides i think they are best with Paneer Saag,Chicken Tikka Masala,Malai Kofta And all kinds of Naans are good. The gravy used for the above dishes will be the same for all the others entries, except for the change in the vegetable or the meat. For people who love spice ,i will advice them to try spice level 5 or 6 out of 6. But generally 3 or 4 would be decent. What's Bad ? Small space to sit ambiance not that great. Not a place for Date night ,( unless your partner really like indian food ) Restaurant is Compact Very Reasonable price Good Quantity Great Taste Good for Carry out. Best in Calhoun Area.

This tiny restaurant has 3 booths. If you're lucky, you won't have to wait for a seat. Nonetheless, the wait for Krishna is worth it. The small little eatery makes you think you've found a hidden little gem amongst all the good college eats around the University of Cincinnati. If you think you're so lucky, you would be incorrect. The mere mention of Krishna elicits mouth-watering reactions by nearly everyone. My favorite is is the Saag Paneer, spicy level 4. It's amazing. They don't skimp on the paneer and the dish is quite flavorful. The portions are, also, HUGE. It is always enough for two meals. Even better, if you go head to Krishna for lunch, the portions are the SAME as the dinner portions, plus you get free naan with your meal. Talk about expanding waist lines.... Last but not least, there's the chicken tiki masala. Though I NEVER deviate from my order of saag paneer, my foodie-in-crime usually frequents Krishna with me and he ALWAYS orders the chicken tiki masala. It's light but spicy with a hint of sweetness. Pretty delicious but not enough to take me way from my favorite. If you want Indian food, you most definitely want Krishna.

I've been coming to Krishna since my freshman year in 2010. While I normally order the same items every time, I would never go anywhere else. Their spicy levels are very appropriate, even for my sensitive-to-spice preferences. My chicken tikka masala (with a plethora of basmati rice) and regular naan never cease to disappoint. I also enjoy their chicken pakoras and vegetable pakoras. I think the price is appropriate for the quality, especially since I split the curry and naan for lunch and dinner. Always a fast service, I've never waited more than 15 minutes as it usually only takes 10. I have never had my meal delivered, always do carry out. Definitely worth trying!

Krishna carry out, my favorite Indian restaurant hands down. I was a Indian cuisine virgin until college and Krishna was the first I have ever had. Whenever I go to a different Indian establishment I compare it to Krishna. Chicken Masala number 6 , hits the spot every time without fail.

This is my favorite Indian place, when I can find a parking spot! I think it's that they use more cream in the dishes. I recommend calling ahead for carry out. This place is a tight squeeze! You can seriously stretch one dish into 3 meals - which is great when you're low on dough!

I've wanted to try Krishna for over a year now as I continue my quest to find the best Indian food in Clifton (if not Cincinnati). But it has been made difficult due to the lack of parking on McMillan/Calhoun streets, my school schedule, and Krishna not offering delivery. Every other Sunday, I have a pre-test ritual of ordering Indian food to school. I almost exclusively order from Deep because it's the only Indian restaurant around that will deliver. (although, I recently discovered that Mr. India also delivers so I'll be trying it out soon!) I finally tried Krishna a few weeks ago and was fairly disappointed by the tikka saag that I got. The chicken pieces were moist but had no flavor and the saag part was fairly flavorless as well. I ordered it a spice level of 5 (out of 6) and it was spicy enough but it didn't have any of the flavor the spices usually impart. Additionally, the rice (which I look forward to because it's cooked with all kinds of oily goodness that I would never make for myself at home) was fairly bland as well. If the stars align, I might go back and try something else just because it's one of the more reasonably priced Indian restaurants around and I prefer to support the smaller mom and pop shops. But for now, there are definitely better options for Indian in the area, especially when they deliver and feed my Sunday addiction.

Awesome place for great Indian on the cheap. I'm a fan of their Chicken Tikka Saag, Chicken Curry and Saag Paneer. The naan here is fresh and taste awesome too. Everything is made in front of you so you know it's fresh, you don't have to worry about it being made the night before or setting out on a buffet all day. (There is no buffet btw). Take out is probably your best option, with only 4 booths, seating can be a little scarce. Bring your appetite or save half for later, they definitely give you a lot!

Fantastic, fast indian food right next to UC's campus. There are some great places to get Indian food in Cincy, but Krishna remains one of my personal favorites. It says carry out, but there are about four booths for anyone who wants to eat in, and there are tons of options for vegetarians, which is always a plus in my book. I veered from my typical aloo gobi and went with the saag paneer, which was excellent. I don't have a high tolerance when it comes to spicy foods, and ordering spice level one had just enough kick for me. I actually left with no leftovers, in true gluttonous Saturday style, but 9 times out of 10, I'll leave with another meal for the next day, making the prices very reasonable for the amount of food. Pescatarian Rating: 5. Tons of vegetarian options!

Fucking uhh obviously this is the best shit in town. Hit it for five years on the reg, then moved east coast, west coast, and still haven't found better. Basically if you want dank ass Indian food come to Cincinnati Ohio and drive to the curry-colored building on Calhoun ave.

My journey to find the best Indian food in Clifton continued yesterday at Krishna's. I was around the Calhoun/McMillan area and decided to stop in to Krishna's - something I'd meant to do so many times in the past 10 months of living in Clifton! The place is small, but that doesn't matter when it smells so fantastic in there and the man behind the counter greets you with a smile. I grabbed a menu, chose a dish (Chana Masala), happily paid, and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. In just shy of 10 minutes, my food was ready and I was on my way to enjoy it at home. Comparing it to what I'd considered to be my favorite Indian restaurant in Clifton (Ambar), I was pleased in some ways but not pleased in other ways. First, the rice. I love me some great basmati rice, but this is where Krishna falls incredibly short. The texture is fine, but what I love about Ambar and other Indian restaurants I've been to (not only in Clifton, but elsewhere) is that they have some peas and bits of lemon zest throughout. At Ambar I can just eat the rice and be happy girl because it is so flavorful and delicious! Krishna's rice was just plain and didn't have much flavor at all. Boooring! Next, the portions. I think the price at Krishna's is less than that of Ambar or Amol, and if so, the portions are just fine. After what I ate last night, I have about 2 meals worth left. Not bad for $8! I do miss, though, the HUGE amount of delicious rice I get from Ambar... Now, the star dish. My chana masala was pretty darn good. I got it at a spiciness of 5 (out of 6) and it was at the perfect level for me. It came in a 1/2 quart plastic tub and, as I mentioned already, it was enough for 3 portions. Yum. Finally, the people of Krishna's. The guy working the counter was great. He greeted me when I arrived and when I asked if there was any cream in the chana masala, he confidently told me, "There is no cream, butter, or dairy in chana masala". A+, dude, A+. I now know I can suggest Krisha's to my vegetarian AND vegan friends! If I'm on Calhoun and crave Indian, I need not hold my hunger until I can walk to Ambar - I'll eat at Krishna's. However, if I'm at home and have to choose whether to go north to Ambar or south to Krishna's... I'll go north.

Krishna kinda sucks. Its cheaper but the quality isn't that good. Try deep India for better quality and ambar (the best in my opinion), dusmesh, or amol for a delicious dining experience.

Came in for lunch to finally try out the lunch deal. I got the chicken tikka masala. For $8.85, I got a nice bowl of the chicken, a lot of rice, and a piece of naan. I got my meal about 5 minutes after I placed my order, so good quick service, For the heat level, they said it was from 1-6, I got a 3. I didn't taste that much heat from my meal, so I guess I'll try a 4 next time. The meal itself seemed kind of bland and the naan wasn't anything special either. The amount of food they give is great for the price. Maybe a different meal will do better next time.

Krishna was one of the first places I ever went for Indian food in Clifton. It soon became a place I'd frequent often in my college years and even now that I am a professional. They still have some of my favorite dishes at such good prices. So I will warn you now, don't go for a "beautiful" atmosphere, you won't find it here. The atmosphere instead is more of a take out feel, where the seats are nearly in the kitchen. It is a tiny place that gets lots of carryout business, but does have 4 booths by the window. I actually love it this way and enjoy watching as the chefs are busy prepping and cooking in the kitchen. The only decorations include some beautiful religious pictures as well as a map of India and Punjab. Here is the other secret-if you are really hungry, dine in! When dining in, the portions are enormous, probably largest in the Clifton/CUF area. They serve it to you in a big takeout box, ready for your leftovers that you in inevitably have. I also remember them having fantastic lunch specials. As for takeout, the portions seem a bit more standard, but I always remember the restaurant taking special care to wrap things well. My husband used to always get extra little things like some fresh onions to go with his food, and they would always oblige. The takeout is always very speedy, I used to live about a 10 minute walk away, you could call when you started walking and the food would nearly be ready as you got there. My absolute favorite dish is their Matar Paneer. This dish at Krishna, I personally hold as standard of excellence for a matar paneer, that few places outside of India itself have surpassed. They give larger chunks of paneer than I typically see. I also think their spice level is just a touch higher than others around, I usually get a 3 and find it to have a good kick, but a 3 elsewhere may be a bit milder. If I haven't poured on enough love yet, here is a story from my last trip (3/13/2013): We had specially headed out to Clifton (since i don't live there anymore) to eat at another restaurant, but once we had parked nearby, we immediately scrapped our other plans and went to Krishna. I have so many great memories of nearly drifting to sleep in my college classes from a Krishna lunch special and after my recent trip, I can confirm that things are just as good as ever.

Called last week to place a delivery. A man picked up and was extremely rude and didn't act like he wanted to take my order. I asked if he delivers and he confirmed that he did. Half way through my order, he hung up on me. I called back and asked what happened and he said he won't deliver to me. If you don't deliver, say so, that's all you have to do. I will forever avoid this place and recommend the other million Indian places in Clifton from now on.

Awesome food and great prices! A small place (Clean enough) and 3 guys cooking right behind the counter and they are polite. Excellent, authentic indian food - and yes I know what good Indian food is! I have a place to chow when in Cincinnati, OH next time. Will try any given day. BTW: I ordered Palak Paneer and Chicken Tikka (spicy level medium) both come with rice but I substituted one rice for one naan. And also request to give half the quantity of rice only - don't like wasting. All was under $19.00 - great price. Well come back again.

This was the first Indian restaurant that I've ever eaten at, and I still think it's the best. However, I can only really comment on the Chicken Tikka Masala since it's the only thing I've ever had, but I've never had a reason to deviate!! The smartest thing you can do is call up, order, and pick up. If they are a little busy, you'll have to order and wait, and may not even have a place to stand let alone sit while your waiting. Also, it makes for a great lunch - they have a special for a dish and Nan for about $9, and it's enough for two meals!

  • January B.

This is still our go-to Indian carryout place. The portions are large enough that I often split an entree with my boyfriend and then have some samosas or bhaturi with the meal. The service is fast but impersonal. The guys behind the counter don't want to be your friend, they just want to serve you food and go on with their day. My new favorite is the saag choley (saag with chickpeas) and malai kofta (basically vegetarian meatballs in a tomato cream sauce). The vegetable samosas are very big and filling, great with the chutney trio it's served with. The fried paneer (I can't remember the name) was a surprise delight, I didn't expect to like it so much! The mango lassi is tart and sweet and creamy and perfect to cool a spicy palette. The prices are great, the portions are large, and I've liked everything I've tried!

This place has wonderful food! I love the saag paneer; it's always thick and creamy. The garlic naan is wonderful. However, they serve your food in styrofoam to-go boxes. They have four booths in the restaurant and it is incredibly tiny in there. They wrap your food in plastic wrap and bag it if you want to take your food to go. I love this place and always come back for more.

Oh my gosh! This restaurant is awesome. I have heard good things about this place before but had never tried it. The curry was deliciously spicy and the aloo saag was just the right amount of creamy! I am so excited to find an affordable place for my Indian needs!

  • Célèste B.

This place is good and all, but I was surprised to see them rated higher than any other Cincinnati Indian Restaurant. They do not have the best Indian food in town or even in the Clifton area. In fact, their food is probably fourth best in the Clifton area, after Ambar, Dushmesh, and Amol. The flavors are just not quite as complex and there isn't the variety. Their naan is pretty awesome, though.

I've been on a weird Indian food kick recently, meaning I'm looking for hot. Can places around Cincinnati give me hot? Yes, it turns out, they can. I'd heard of Krishna when I lived in Clifton all those years ago, but never tried it. That was clearly a mistake, as this place is awesome. They mean it when they call themselves Carry Out. There are four tables in this tiny restaurant and they're cramped and shoved up against the wall (it basically goes tables, little area between tables and counter and then counter to order your food. That's this whole place.) I actually did sit at the table and it was fine, but I can imagine it would have been hell if the place had been crowded. The food here is what you come for, though, and the food is what you get! Delicious selections of Indian staples (like the tiki chicken masala, which I got and it was amazing and just as spicy as I wanted it) and more foreign items which I'd have to ask what they were due to pure cluelessness. All of them looked delicious thought! They also have a case full of drinks - no soda fountain here. I'm not even sure where they'd put it if they wanted one. The place has no atmosphere whatsoever. It's tiny and kind of smells like a mix of Indian food and cleaning supplies. Still, that only kind of adds to it's charm. You're hoping that they forgo atmosphere and, in return, will give you amazing food. You are correct. Parking can be kind of annoying, since it's in Clifton and you're hit-or-miss on street. Find a meter, throw in a few coins and get that food to go. I will be back, Krishna - and this time, I'n not staying.

Quite simply the best Indian food that i have ever had. While that is not the hardest thing to achieve, my experience with Indian food is unfortunately lacking, it is absolutely delicious. The service is intimidating however. Whatever you have, get an order of naan and a mango lassi, that will complete your meal.

It's a bit tricky to locate until you know where it is. Tons of food. Smells a bit of burnt frying oil. Low key. Eat, then pay. seems like a questionable concept in Clifton. It's a small walk in, counter service style place with basic options in huge portions. Unfortunately, I am quite familiar with great Indian food, and this place does not measure up. The flavors just aren't there, with an attempt to mask this fact with heat. The heavily creamed "curry" will sit equally heavily on your stomach. I would say that if you are fighting a hangover, aren't picky about Indian food, want something spicy and fatty, and you can walk here, it might be for you.

Fantastic Indian food! Reasonable prices for the quantity. I had chicken korma and my belle had the lamb saag. Vegetable pakoras and garlic naan rounded out the meal. All very tasty. $25 and we were stuffed with plenty for lunch the next day. It's pretty simple with styrofoam and plastic, but some of the best Indian in the area. Update: Later that evening, my belle and I were feeling pretty uncomfortably full. I did read another's comment that the food weighed heavy. We only shared the Pakoras, so maybe they were the culprits. I'd give it another try. So good going down though.

I decided I wanted to rekindle my love for Krishna- it had been a few years since I left Cincy and upon my return, it seemed crazy that I hadn't been back yet. What I did not know is that since I've been gone, Krishna has gone from a relatively unknown little hidden gem in Clifton to a mad-packed lunch rush. Maybe I picked the wrong day? After driving in a circle to find street parking, I was cold and oh-so-excited for some Krishna. To my dismay, when I walked in, the place was packed! (It was about 12:30). But it's a small space so surely the wait for carry-out couldn't be that long, right? So wrong. My 30 minute meter ran out and I had to go put more change in, and to top off my ill-fated trip, the $20 I had out to pay fell out of my pocket. So sad. The folks next to me had even called ahead and still waited at least 20 minutes to get their order. The food was still delicious. I thought my potatoes were slightly undercooked but I didn't care because I know they were working hard to get the orders done and I really couldn't have waited much longer. My Aloo Saag was exactly the spice level that I wanted it (5 out of 6), and the greatest part about the lunch menu that you can get garlic naan or naan included with the huge lunch portion for no additional cost. So delicious. I picked up the Chicken Vindaloo for my husband and of course tasted it- also good. They haven't changed or expanded at all, which is understandable, since there is literally no space for expansion. And honestly, the tiny space makes Krishna what it is and is what makes it charming. So, mostly, I don't want Krishna to do anything different, but it just seems to me that their size and/or staffing makes it impossible for them to reasonably serve a fairly small lunch rush. And they are Krishna Indian Take Out. Which is supposed to be quick. So in the dining experience realm, Krishna is limited and that is unfortunately why I am not going to give it a 5. Lessons learned: 1. Krishna is indeed still delicious and well-priced for the portion size and quality. 2. You need to have lots of time if you decide to get lunch at Krishna during the lunch rush. So, if you don't have lots of time, go early or late (way after 1 because by the time I left, it was still pretty busy), or just don't do it. Or, wait until UC is out and the students aren't crawling all over the campus. 3. If you see a large band of Asian students ahead of you in line, abort, abort, and come back some other time. Krishna is tasty but probably not quite worth the long wait.

Very impressed with this food. I probably like Deep india a little better because they have good customer service and when you enter Krishna they just take your order and give you your food. They don't have good customer service but they do have good authentic Indian Food so if you want both head around the block to Deep India. Just saying. But this restaurant is really good.

This was my go-to(as it is for most college students at UC) for Indian food for a couple of years. That was until Deep India opened, and my business was directed towards them. But this Krishna's restaurant, enough about their rivals! Krishna is very good. It is definitely a landmark of Clifton and by far the most popular Indian joint, and it is for a reason. The food is very good and the service is very friendly. You will not be disappointed by this place in the slightest, but I just think there is slightly better out there. My only complaint about Krishna is it sits heavier than other Indian offerings in the area. Tastes just as good, but a little heavy...

This place is definitely a solid choice for cheap, delicious Indian food by UC. It's not really a pleasant place to sit down and hang out in, but just take your food to go and enjoy!

After reading so many reviews, I was hoping for more. It is a tiny location (I think they do more carry-out vs. dining in business), but we were able to score a booth. The Chicken Tikka Masala was really thin and runny, but the portion was huge. The naan was hot but not very good. While it was cheap (2 orders for less than $20), the food quality wasn't worth it to us.

Great Indian fast food! Saag is the best!

  • Emily J.

Every time I eat Indian food, I compare it to Krishna. Krishna always wins. The food is reasonably priced, comes in gigantic portions, and tastes amazing. Emily's favorite is saag paneer with naan. Jimmy's favorite is chicken tikka masala with garlic naan. But everything on the menu is worth trying.

I've tried several Indian spots in the Nati, and this one is tied for #1. It tastes almost as good as my other fave, but is probably a little healthier due to less heavy cream (if any at all). Accordingly, I guess that also makes it more authentic. Anyways, I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was smooth and delicious as I expected. I told them 5/6 on spiciness but I'm afraid it wasn't very spicy. The portions are pretty hefty too for the $9 price tag on most dishes. Why should Clifton get the best Indian joints? Oh well, it's close enough! Be aware that it's not the cleanest of places, it looks like a hole in the wall (but somehow that always makes the food taste better), and there's very little seating (see the name, "carry out"). Bottom Line: I'll be back for a quick, delicious #1 Indian in Cincinnati.

Pretty decent Indian Food for being served on styrofoam. Not the best but pretty good. Cincinnati has killer Indian.

This place is a good for carryout. Depending on who is cooking the spice level varies. Most of the time it's really hot so if you are are sensitive then I would go for a low spice level. Try the Chickan Tikka Saag! The place is tiny inside only like 4 tables too.

I've always enjoyed Krishnas, but because one of our close buddies says he got food poisoning here, we don't eat here as much as I'd like. Krishna's is comfort Indian food. With half a fridge packed with whole cream, you know you're getting a healthy portion of a high calorie meal. One order is enough to satisfy two people, and if you take leftovers home, you can definitely make it stretch for an extra meal or two by cooking your own rice.

This is truly fast-food Indian food albeit it's not really that fast. I've gone to Krishna's a few times when I'm craving Indian food and do not really want to go to a sit down restaurant. The interior is quite small with only a few booths so if you are looking to eat there you might be out of luck. The menu is pretty standard and the prices are pretty decent, especially for how much food you're getting. I usually get an item and it turns into 2 meals, which is always a good thing if you're on a budget. For the food, the taste is good, not amazing but that's probably a by-product of the cooking process. It seems like all their food tastes very similar. This could be because when I see them cooking (it's a completely open kitchen), I always see them taking a scoop out of 3-4 random boxes of concentrated sauces and then pouring in a ton of cream. Again, this makes food really good so I'm not complaining. The biryani is made the same way, which makes it a little too wet in my opinion. Overall, if you're starving for Indian, this place is fast (relatively), affordable (2 meals in 1 usually), and tastes pretty good. Just expect the inevitable food coma that will ensue.

Krishnas is awesome! The food is super tasty and great on a poor college student's budget. They have a rating of 1 to 6 for how hot they'll make your meal, which is nice since you can pick and choose. Personally, I always just get their vegetable samosas and rice (surprisingly, the rice is reeeeeally good just by itself). The area inside is really small though. Theres about 3 small booths and a skinny little isle up to the cash register. That being said, either only come with a few friends or order out. I HIGHLY recommend Krishnas for your Indian food cravings.

This is the best place I know to get cheap, delicious Indian take-out. Sure, they only have four tables, and if you sit at them people will constantly stand right next to you while they're waiting for their order to be up. But that's because it's a take-out place. And people come in constantly because the food is amazing. Where else can you completely stuff four people on top-quality Saag Paneer and Malai Kofta and other goodness for less than $10 a person? Nowhere, that's where. And did I mention that they have tons of vegetarian options? Because they do. This place is a win, hands down. Unless you want a table, in which case you should probably go elsewhere.

Finally tried this place after many an urging from a friend who has traveled the world and is very picky about her ethnic cuisine. As the four stars indicate, I'm a fan. Good flavors, huge portions, and the "medium" spice level was just right. Prices are a little lower than at most dine-in Indian places around here ($8-10 per entree), and I easily made three meals out of my mattar paneer; even if you gorge yourself, you'll probably still have at least one set of leftovers for the next day. The naan is big, well made and not too greasy, which naan can often be. I definitely wouldn't eat in, as there are only a few tables and the place is not air conditioned, but I already knew that going in, so no worries. This is a great stop for affordable Indian food for a night in. I'll definitely be back.

  • Mike B.

It looks like a hole in the wall, there are only 4 booths and there's a line to the door every day. It's spectacular. Don't get me wrong - it, like every other Indian restaurant in Cincinnati has been heavily westernized - yes most of there dishes rely on an absurd amount of cream and whole milk pseudo-curries. Oh and about the spice - it's 1 to 6. A six hurts, but if you ask them to make it even hotter - they will oblige. So, if you're looking for Indian food anywhere in the greater clifton area / gaslight district - skip the formal sit down places - experience the uniqueness of Krishna's - and get honestly the best westernized, Indian food around.

Best Indian food in the Nati by far! I've been recommending this place since my friends lived on Roe St in 2001. You can't go wrong with the Saag Paneer (they actually will make it as spicy as you want regardless of how white you look). Garlic Naan and samosas are cheap and delicious side items I never miss.

  • Jill D.

I used to joke with my coworkers that they slipped a little something extra in the curry to keep you coming back. At the time I was kidding... but now I'm not so sure. I am a Krishna addict. This is my to-go take-out choice. I've eaten there, but there are only four tables and it's truly a hole-in-the-wall. Best curry I've ever had (even better than what I had in London). I think they are a little spicier than most Indian places, so if you usually get a "4" - go with a "3". My favs = curry chicken or chicken tikka masala, garlic naan

My Favorite Indian food Restaurant! Love me some Kirshna! Really great indian food at a great price. styrofoam containers as plates, soda pop in a can. tiny dining area is fun and makes me feel like im in a special place. kinda grimy but to me it only adds charm.

I'm glad i got this to go, because if Id eaten there i would have kept on ordering. The place is tiny--youre basically standing in the kitchen while you wait. I was happy to see my meal was made to order. I scarfed this down in no time, and each bite tasted better than the last. So good. Wish i lived in cincy so i could hit this place hard.

Krishna's is so small you could easily miss it. What initially looks like a side entrance to an apartment building is actually the door way to one of the best hole-in-the-wall (almost literally) Indian restaurants I've been to. An efficient staff behind the counter is used to customers who know what they want, so you might want to go in with a meal in mind; I suggest the usual Saag Paneer or the delicious Aloo Gobi. Takeout is quick as they're used to college students being on the go, and naan and rice are standard on their lunch specials. If you know what you like when it comes to Indian Krishna will not disappoint.

I found Krishna by accident one day. My friends had taken me out for Indian the night before and I was craving some spicy goodness. Since the aforementioned locale was miles away from my job, I zoomed over to the UC area to see what I could find. What I found was a perfect little piece of Bombay in one of the tiniest eateries I've ever been in. They do have a few benches you can sit down in and watch the magic happen in their open kitchen. The heaping portions are excellently cooked and you'll never have to worry about having enough rice. I'm partial to the chicken jalfreizy myself but I've sampled just about everything on their menu. They even have some vegetarian dishes for you in the vegan set. Their prices are exceedingly fair as well considering the huge portions you get. My only complaint -- they could be a bit spicier. I'm sure they're taking the spice down a notch since they're in the Midwest, but if my mouth isn't burning... I'm sure you can finish that as you will. The boys are quick on the stove too, you'll have your dish up in 10 minutes or less. All in all, Krishna's got a new dedicated fan for as long as I'm around.

I fell in love with Krishna as a UC student. I try to eat Krishna on a bi-weekly basis. They have a great lunch special with an entree and order of nan for 8.95. I love chicken curry and get it as spicy as possible. They do a great job on carryout wrapping the to go box in saran wrap so no mess is created. I just call ahead and place my order and by the time I walk over it's ready to go. It's a hole in the wall but a fun experience if you want to see your food made and check out the clay oven for bread making.

One of my favorite Indian places in all of Cincinnati. I probably go once a week and order one of their lamb dishes. Which one you ask . . . any of them are good choices (i.e. Lamb do piazza, Lamb Sagg, etc.). If only it were closer to my office . . . I'd eat there every other day.

    (5)
  • Lydia W.

Absolutely love Krishna. Prices have increased since I first became a fan, but it's the best carry-out Indian place and the staff is super friendly. In fact, they have memorized my husband and I's order and have even said hello to us on the street before. lol.

    (5)
  • Eleanor L.

MMMM I love it! Dinner portions are big enough for 2 meals. Everything has so much flavor. And I hear it's somewhat authentically Indian. I love the Saag Choley. My girlfriend likes their vegetable pakoras (she would probably give Krishna 4 stars)

  • Paul B.

Little Indian place, but big taste! I love Indian food, and this place is certainly a hole-in-the-wall, you almost feel like you're walking in the back door of some business. It's some of the best indian food I've ever had, the naan is amazing and its well priced. It is a little more spicy than most indian places, so be aware when you are ordering a heat. I stay around 3 for a nice even heat.

This would have to be my favorite restaurant in Clifton! Best food on the block! The restaurant is located very close to campus and is open until 10:30PM, which usually lets me eat before I go out. I like to eat in but sometimes when I need to study I call them and leave, by the time I get there (10 min after the call was placed) the food is ready. My favorite plate is the Chicken Tikka Masala, their spiciness scale ranges from 0 to 6, I usually get 3-4 but it seems to vary, they look at you and decide how spicy you can handle. Get there for lunch during the week and you get the lunch special, all the same food but with free naan (I think that's what Indians call bread). The place is really small but I've been able to secure a table most of the time I've been there. In conclusion, this is my favorite restaurant in Clifton, I cannot live a week without having my weekly dose!

  • Samantha L.

When I lived in Clifton, I ate here religiously and I still always get it if I'm in the area. The prices are unbeatable. I'm a regular, so they're always excited to see me walk in and know exactly what I order and the spice level. The veggie samosas are a perfect addition to any meal. You can get a dinner for two plus naan and samosas for around $20. A lot of people prefer take out because it's such a small restaurant. A bit of a dive. But, I enjoy eating in and seeing all the different people that come in and enjoy indian as much as I do! Krishna has been around for quite some time and I don't think it's going anywhere.

Cheap take out indian food that is by far my favorite restaurant in Clifton. It is the first place I go whenever I return to CIncinnati and the last place I go before I leave. The food is served in styrofoam with plastic utensils, but it's totally worth it. Saag paneer is the best!

  • Melissa L.

This establishment is the only Indian Restaurant I will eat at in Cincinnati. Even if there is nowhere to sit, I will wait for carryout. The veggie Korma is delicious, and the hotter the better. I would give anything to have this recipe because if I move I will miss this.

Visting from out of town and found this gem on yelp. So so delicious. The saag paneer, chicken korma, and somosas were all some of the best I've had. Ambiance is definitely take out but we ate at one of the few tables they had.

We were going to eat at Myra's Dionysus, but they were closed for a week (labor day holiday). So, we were driving away trying to think of where else to go and saw Krishna Indian take out. We'd heard people recommend it, so we stopped in. It looks like it used to be a Subway restaurant with the large bar/counter and booths on the opposite wall. You order at the counter and sit back down. If you want water they give you a styro cup and you pour your own from pitchers in the cooler. The food comes to you scalding in a styro take out container. I had paneer makhani, which was creamy and flavorful. There was enough to save some for lunch the following day, and it was still delicious! I will eat there again.

What would I do without Indian food? :) Krishna's number is saved in my cell phone. It's a great place to pick up dinner in a pinch, or when you're craving. They've recently upgraded their take-out containers to be stronger (thank goodness). Chicken Tikka Masala is what they do best.
