Went for lunch today with a buddy. Very good. Simple menu but great taste. Would highly recommend.

Hmm, okay, so this place was good, but it certainly didn't blow my mind. I thought the rather small sized cookie was overpriced at $2.50. They don't offer any non-carbonated drinks aside from tap water in small plastic cups. The turkey sandwich was good but a bit dry for my liking. This would be a 3 star review for me normally, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because the ladies working the place were extremely friendly and outgoing. It's an adorable layout with easy street parking. I hope things work out for them.

One of my favorite new lunch spots is right here in Cincinnati. I can't believe it exists here in this town. Something about eating here makes me fell like I'm on vacation. It is in a great location with plenty of parking available on the street. The owners are friendly, helpful and generally seem excited to serve. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious. As a vegetarian it is challenging to find a place with more than one option. They have a chalkboard filled to with choices. The salads are huge and actually healthy- not faux healthy like at most spots. The menu is seasonal, interesting and changed up pretty regularly. As I came here to post I just noticed they have a patio that I somehow missed. Next time.

I love small businesses. And Kitchen 452 is one that is rapidly climbing to the top of my list for workday lunches. Here's what keeps me coming back: - Great food. I love the gazpacho, almond butter/banana/honey/date sandwich (toasted so it's nice and melty), and selection of different sodas and seltzer waters. It is NOT the normal menu, and all the fresh ingredients are just so much tastier than fast food or chain restaurants. I never feel gross after eating here, like I do after greasy, mass-produced food. Sandwiches come with a side of crispy pita chips, which are particularly nice to offset the sweetness of the almond butter sandwich I love so much. - The lovely couple who own it. I really need to introduce myself to them. They are so friendly, welcoming, and obviously take pride in their business. And they're adorable, to boot. - The ambiance. This place is like a Pinterest board I would have followed. The brick walls are accented with cute sayings and knickknacks - nothing is out of place, and it creates a relaxed but modern vibe. - The location. What a great spot for this place. It's conveniently located near a lot of Walnut Hills businesses and has easy off-street parking. It's great if you want to sit by yourself for a quiet lunch or take a few colleagues for a lunch meeting. Why it didn't get five stars: - The portion sizes are a wee bit small for the prices. However, that being said, the quality is worth it. Maybe I'm also just brainwashed into thinking that more is better... I haven't sat on the patio yet, but I hear there are a few tables outside. Guess I'll have to go back before it gets cold!

I love where they are located. It's in an area that is starting to see people regain interest. I am supportive of that so I was drawn to try this place. Three stars on Yelp is a good review. That's what this place was. Good. The building is really cool. They have roughly 10 tables in there. Everything looks clean and brand new. The two ladies working were very friendly and helpful. I thought about their Caprese grilled cheese the entire ride there. I was a little bummed. Maybe I pumped it up too much in my head. I thought it was just ok. They use a tomato spread, extremely boring white bread, and I could barely taste the basil. Caprese salad has so much flavor. I was looking for that. My wife had the eggplant sandwich. It was very flavorful and I loved the whole grain bread. Both came with a bag of pita chips. I would go again because I like their effort to improve the area, they were very friendly, and the food was decent.

I always enjoy finding local establishments that service quality food without all the hype for the chain style restaurants, and Kitchen 452 is one such place. Not far from my office, Kitchen 452 has quality food and friendly customer service. Since neither my co-worker or I were overly hungry we decided to order a sandwich and salad to split. The Caprese Grilled Sandwich very tasty, and the sun-dried tomato spread really rounded it out nicely. We also tried the Mixed Greens salad with pears, walnuts and blue cheese. They did this up right. The vinaigrette was light and refreshing. I was surprised that the blue cheese was actually recognizable. Typically restaurants put a small crumbled amount in a salad, but at Kitchen 452 there were actually chunks of the blue cheese the size of peas or larger. This order was a carry-out, however, we'll be back soon to enjoy lunch on the patio.

Fantastic lunch spot on Woodburn that I might not have realized existed if not for a friend's Yelp review. Walking into this place felt a little bit like walking into Melt in Northside, thanks to the friendliness of the staff and the layout of the building. Immediately, I felt comfortable there and welcome. The day I went was kind of gorgeous, so they directed me to the small outdoor seating area, in case I was interested in eating outside. And yes, yes I was interested in that, and it was entirely lovely. The food was tasty. Oh hello there, grilled cheese with fig spread, yes please. My sandwich came with pita chips, which seemed to me the perfect amount for the lunch portion. Also, they had a nice selection of beverages from which to choose. Always makes me happy when a place has a root beer option. I am looking forward to returning next time I'm in the neighborhood around lunchtime, because there are definitely other items on their menu that I would love to try, and it sounds like they change it up quite a bit to keep things interesting and seasonal.

Kitchen 452 is an adorably detailed restaurant. I really appreciated the warm reception. While the inside is a bit crowded, there is a variety of seating options, so whether you're dining as a group or a couple, you'll most likely find a table. The menu is small, but they have interesting combinations. The pricing is a bit high and the options are light, so keep that in mind if you plan to visit.

I have been searching high and low for a place in Cincinnati to get a great soup and sandwich (recommendations, please?!). After trying Kitchen 452, I will continue on my search. Not to say that it was bad or that I wouldn't go back, it's just not that great. I ordered the grilled pimiento cheese sandwich and a cup of tomato soup. The soup came out before the sandwich, which kind of defeats the purpose of ordering the classic combo. Both were delightful, but nothing to write home about. In the future I would probably try something different. What really bothered me about this place is that it came to $15 and they don't even serve you. I ordered at the counter, and after giving my card the ipad asked for a tip. I tipped 20%, as usual. I am not exactly a frugal person, but I would think that if you are paying top dollar for a sandwich and soup and they request a tip, that they would at least serve you. Indeed, you get your own water, they dropped the food at the table, no one ever came to check on us, and they didn't clear our plates when we were done. On a positive note, the space here is nice and there is plenty of street parking. If you go down the side street you can even avoid meters!

Finally got to taste the new menu yesterday. I had a bowl of the chilled carrot soup and a curried chicken salad sandwich. Wow! The flavors of the carrot soup are subtle yet distinct. Perfection in a summer soup! I advise getting the larger portion. The chicken salad is paired with a Shadeau croissant roll that holds up beautifully. Thanks Kitchen 452!

I ate lunch here today as a first time customer, and I was happy with everything! The service was friendly and efficient; they even came to our table to refill waters twice! Later I noticed a refill-it-yourself station that was behind me on the far wall. My lemon dill hummus with pita chips was so good! My 1/2 Mixed greens with pears, blue cheese & walnuts served with red wine honey vinaigrette was also very tasty. The price was good at $8 too. The restaurant was clean, classy, and had more seating inside than I expected, plus tables outside. The stained glass windows were a cute touch - probably part of the old building? I will be back whenever I happen to be in the area, as it is 30 minutes from my home base. I am always trying to find a restaurant that serves Whole Food Plant Based / no added oils or dairy / animal protein foods, so I hope to find more here. Read The Campbell Plan, or the Engine 2 Diet, or Food Over Medicine to know more about it.

This place is wildly delicious. Located in a really up and coming neighborhood. Employees are super nice and welcoming. Sandwiches are robustly flavorful and delicious and the soups are really incredible. I'll be going again and often.

Good little lunch spot in East Walnut Hills. Enjoyed the Banh Mi salad. Pickled veggies, mixed greens with cilantro and a really good vinaigrette dressing. The pork is served cold (I'd prefer if it was warm) but the salad was very good overall. Also split the caprese grilled cheese sandwich - it was nice. Portions are relatively small but really strong menu.

Paul and I visited Kitchen 452 for the first time after attending a Qigong class in the area. When we arrived, there was a note on the door stating that they were closing a half hour early due to a catering event that afternoon. No biggie; we decided to find another place. Luckily for us, a young man who works there came out and invited us in. Both he and the woman who was working were very kind, and the atmosphere was casual and comfortable. I highly recommend the mixed greens with pears, blue cheese & walnuts served with red wine honey vinaigrette, as it is a heavenly salad. I also enjoyed the potato leek soup, although I think it would have tasted better if there were some chunks of potatoes in it (rather than a complete puree) or some crunchy element to add some texture. We shared the hummus and pita chips; the hummus was good, but the chips were better. Paul had the egg salad sandwich and the pea soup. I tried a bite of his sandwich and thought it was good but needed a bit more seasoning. I'm not a fan of peas, but I tasted his soup and it wasn't bad.

Officially my new favorite restaurant, without a doubt! There was not one flaw about this place. The food is great, the service is awesome, the ambiance is just too perfect, what more could we ask for? I only wish the dining room was slightly bigger, since it's such a perfect restaurant! I'm sure if it keeps up, the business will definitely expand. I love love love it here. Both my tummy and my heart were satisfied.

It's been awhile since I've written a review but the food at Kitchen 452 has inspired me to sing my praises publicly on Yelp. First off, I love the format here. Kitchen 452 is a cozy establishment with a comfy dining room. The menu which changes seasonally adorns the wall via a chalkboard. Two ladies man the counter and kitchen, and eagerly await to answer any questions and take your order. Today I ordered a pimento grilled cheese sandwich which I had moderate expectations about since my mom makes the best southern pimento cheese this side of the Mason-Dixon line. I also ordered a bowl of white chicken chili and being a self-proclaimed connoisseur of all things chili, I wasn't expecting to find anything extraordinary in my bowl today. Let me just say I have never been more wrong about anything before. The pimento cheese was an angelic creamy delight. It overflowed from my sandwich like a magnificent volcano of cheese and wonder. To say it was good would be a vast understatement and disservice to this establishment and potential diners. But here's the thing, the grilled cheese wasn't even the star of the show. The white chicken chili was the best bowl of soup I've had in my life. Yes, I said it and I stand by it. Here's the thing though, this wasn't your typical thick hearty meaty bowl of chili. It was broth based with things like beans, chicken, cheese, and cilantro, and the flavor was unlike anything I've ever tasted before. All I can say with certainty is that if there is a soup kitchen in heaven, I have to believe this will be on the menu. Seriously. Kitchen 452 is only open Tuesday-Saturday from 11-230 so if you're trying to eat some of the best sandwiches and soups in the city you'd better extend your lunch break and beeline it to East Walnut Hills.

What a great lunch spot. The interior is nothing super fancy, but it is a warm and inviting atmosphere. The couple working there (maybe the owner?) were very friendly and patient while I decided what I was going to get. Everything sounded delicious. I went with the turkey sandwich with provolone, pesto and red onion. It was served with excellent pita chips. The prices are just right and the food is top notch. I will try and get over there to sample more sandwiches (and soups!) soon I hope.

Super cute little place on Woodburn. Two very friendly ladies own this place I think. I like that when I walked it everything was very polished, cute and simple. It smelled fresh. I ordered white bean soup which was very creamy and filling. And then I got curry chicken sandwich that was just amazing. Curry didn't overpower the chicken salad but just gave it enough oomph. I also got this strawberry soda drink that my friend suggested and it was delicious (can't even remember the name now). Definitely a nice lunch spot. A little pricey but that's expected when you use all fresh ingredients and your menu changes constantly.

One of our favorite new finds for lunch. The owners are great, the food is awesome. We have yet to try anything that we didn't love. Even our 2-year old daughter devours their hummus and whatever soup we order. We decided to have them cater our Super Bowl party (~50 people). They developed the menu based on a quick discussion with us, stayed within the budget we gave them, and delivered great food!! Rave reviews from all our guests and we continue to enjoy the left overs too. Our typical lunch order is the ham & Swiss sandwich which has apple slivers and Dijon mustard and a bowl of whatever soup they are serving. The catering menu was Mac n cheese bites with Granny Smith apples, fruity guacamole, meatball piquant, Asian trail mix, and caprese bites. We already can't wait for next years party to see what menu they come up with and would recommend them to anyone.

Not only is Kitchen 452 a short walk from my new digs, I greatly enjoyed the setup (counter service), ambiance, and what I got to try from the menu. East Walnut Hills lends a beautiful backdrop for Kitchen 452, as the restaurant's namesake is emblazoned deliberately on the exterior windows, from where you walk in to view the large, legible chalkboard menu on the wall before you place your order at the counter. I got the grilled cheese (sans tomato paste) with pita chips, while my lunch mates got the curried chicken salad sandwich, banh mi salad, and white bean truffle soup. Everything was really good, although none of us were keen on the banh mi salad. The dressing was very, very potent and salty, which distracted from the rest of the salad. Next time I think I'll even get the tomato paste on my grilled cheese. My biggest complaints are that its hours are minimal (Monday through Saturday, 11am until 2:30pm), and, while they allegedly had "ice water available," we decided it was more room temperature water (not a problem, per se, but not what we were expecting either). But aside from that, I really liked this place and will absolutely be back.

Remember Fork+Heart+Knife? Well this place really reminded me of it (minus the super long wait times). Love it! From the hardwood floors to the chalkboard menu on the wall, and of course great food, this place has me wanting to return for more. Alright, as others have mentioned, the ladies in charge are super nice and make wonderful food that's fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. This is a perfect lunch spot and parking is easily found on the street. I was cold and hungry so I had both the Spicy Pumpkin and the Creamy Tomato to start. I'd skip the tomato and head directly to the spicy pumpkin, great flavor. I also had the Thanksgiving Leftover sandwich and really enjoyed the Shadeau bread and all the cranberry-orange chutney and turkey goodness. As a side I had the Moroccan raw carrot salad. It had an interesting taste that I didn't really like so next time I'll opt for the pita chips. Fresh homemade food, great staff, and prices that are low, this place is full of win.

A spiffy lunch place in an up-and-coming part of Walnut Hills. Run by two delightful ladies who brainstorm excellent and healthy menus that change from time to time to avoid boring old sameness. I've had the hand-carved turkey pesto sandwich, the banh mi salad, the ham and cheese with apple slices, and always had a brilliant cup of coffee made in a Clever Coffee Dripper cone using La Terza coffee. My outright favorite thing they have is their basil vinaigrette salad dressing that goes on their side salads - exceptional. This is a great lunch spot with wonderful hosts. Stop in for an excellent sandwich, a great salad, and a fantastic cup of coffee.

Kitchen 452 in Walnut Hills is one of my favorite places for lunch! The food is always delicious, and the owners, Leah and Jen are so friendly. Today I had white bean soup with truffle oil and chives along with a side of chips and hummus. As usual, it was great. You gotta try this place!!!

It's simple.... YUM! This place is so cute and well worth the detour I took to stop by last week. The interior is so welcoming, but I sat outside on their patio on the side of the building because it was too beautiful to sit inside. My sandwich was excellent! It was one of the seasonal specials that was being removed soon due to the new fall menu going up. I'll have to swing by again and try the Pumpkin soup that was coming on the fall menu! Excellent lunch spot!

I took a break from work on a rainy afternoon last week to visit Kitchen 452 in Walnut Hills. The location in the historic DeSales corner business district is filled with other small businesses. The outside of the restaurant and adjoining spaces is really colorful and full of beautiful architectural details. I found a free parking spot on Clayton Avenue, which is the street just north of the restaurant, and quickly headed inside. The inside of the restaurant is very tastefully restored, featuring exposed brick walls, stained glass windows, and beautiful hardwood floors. The are only a half-dozen or so tables inside, and most were occupied upon my arrival. One of the owners, Jen, was cleaning off one of the tables as I walked toward the register and stopped to introduce herself. Once she was back at the register she introduced me to the other co-owner, Leah, who also took the time to stop her food preparation and say hello. It was a nice touch and left me feeling right at home. The menu is written on a large chalkboard on one wall and is also provided at each table. It is fairly short and simple with two soups, a few salads, and handful of sandwiches. They are focusing on seasonal and fresh ingredients, so the menu will change regularly. After placing my to-go order and waiting for it to be prepared I caught a whiff of their creamy tomato soup and it smelled delicious. It would have been perfect for the rainy and cold February day, but I would have to wait until another time to sample it. The sandwich I chose on this first visit was their hot ham and Swiss with green apples and Dijon mustard on Shadeau wheat bread ($7.79). All sandwiches come served with a side of pita chips that have a nice seasoning on them with just a hint of spiciness. The sandwich was served on toasted bread and was filled with a healthy amount of ham, a large slice of Swiss, and perfectly thin wedges of apple. The is mustard provided a nice contrast to the sweet and tart flavor of the apple. The combination was excellent! I also had a side of their orzo with root vegetables and ginger dressing ($3). The vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly to match the orzos tender texture. The ginger dressing added most of the flavor and it was a nice touch. I would definitely order this again, though I wish I could swap out the pita chips for a side dish to go with my sandwich. That's not to say that I didn't like the pita chips, it is just nice to have extra options. And ordering both items was a little much for me for lunch time. Kitchen 452s space on Woodburn Avenue was formerly occupied by the Skinny Pig, which was only open a few short months in 2011. After one visit to Kitchen 452 I really hope that they stick around for years to come. I know that I will definitely be back for more soon.

Delicious and fresh lunch spot. The owners are sweet and food is great. I wish they were open for dinner as well, it would be a regular spot for me. The soups and sides are amazing and they change up the menu to keep you interested. If you can get there- you should.

Everything on this menu is delicious. My dad is visiting and was able to pinpoint immediately what makes these sandwiches so tasty, "it seems like their ingredients are higher quality." Yep, dad, you nailed it on the head. Can't ask for a better lunch spot in the central Cincinnati area.

This place is a gem. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. It has a tasteful decor, the service is GREAT, the food is healthy and delicious, and the prices are reasonable for the fresh, quality food they serve. I've tried several dishes on the menu, most of which tasted wonderful; the curried chicken salad sandwich was wonderful (who would have thought of such a unique, tasty combo). The mixed green salad with pears was delicious! Next to the mixed green salad with pears, the fruit salad was one of my my favorites It's the perfect summer salad, made with cilantro and lime. The only item I have been less than enthusiastic about is the turkey provolone sandwich. I enjoyed the pesto spread and provolone, but the turkey was not great, for some reason. If the turkey were thinly sliced and the sandwiches were served on something like panini bread, this place would easily earn 5 stars. Living in a society filled with junk food and greasy dishes, places such as this are a rare commodity. I search for healthy eateries every day, and i have to say I've found few. Thus, I am more than happy to support a fresh, healthy cuisine such as this! Any chance of opening up for dinner?

Stopped in on my lunch break to grab something to go. This place made me wish I had a longer lunch and could eat in. Super cute decor, plus I noticed that they have funky aqua tables and chairs in the side courtyard for outdoor seating. Loved the vibe of this place. The menu is small but tempting. I had the Veggie sandwich with Lemon Dill Hummus. It was super fresh and yummy, but I couldn't taste the dill part. I also had the Pea & Mint soup with Indian Spices. It was a very light soup. I prefer a thicker, heartier soup, but the flavor was amazing. The girls behind the counter were absolute sweethearts. I'll definitely be coming back to this little gem.

We ate there today -- the restaurant's opening day. Amazingly, they were operating quite smoothly for their first day (rarely the case for a new restaurant). More importantly, the food was outstanding. Interesting. Fresh. Delicious. Local. Organic. And the service could not have been better or more personable. Jen and Leah, the two owners -- I know their names because they have them written on all their signage, and they make a point of telling you -- could not be more pleasant and passionate about their new business. For me, that is so nice to see. And so inspiring. I will be back. To get great food, and to support a much-needed local business.

I went to Kitchen 452 over my lunch break today. I picked up the pumpkin soup and the hot ham and swiss sandwich for carryout. I loved the ambiance of the place, and can't wait to come back and eat in. The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. I highly recommend!

What a thoroughly enjoyable experience! Kitchen 452 is just darling and the food is fresh, delicious, and lovingly prepared. The boyfriend and I have been meaning to go here for a while. They are only open for lunch, so we kept missing them. After one particularly lazy morning we decided it was the perfect day and time to finally see what they were all about. We were immediately greeted upon entering. I believe the ladies working there are also the owners, but I could be wrong about that one. They were very very kind and knowledgeable. The very first thing that struck me is they asked if we were new to Kitchen 452 and since we were they talked us through the process (order at the counter and they bring the food out) and gave us a couple of their recommendations. We ordered and I opted for water. Steve quickly reminded me that I hadn't had any coffee yet (a dangerous spot for me to be in) and asked if I wanted something with caffeine. The girls chimed in "We have coffee!" so I ordered a coffee with my meal (and I'm so happy I did). Each cup comes out with this fascinating little contraption that steeps the coffee and then fits right over your cup and pours itself. I feel like I need one of these! We both ordered the turkey sandwich and I got a side of shaved brussels sprout salad. The sandwich was exactly the right amount of crunch and the thick slices of turkey were fresh and flavorful. The brussels sprout salad was light and crunchy with lots of flavor. The ladies stopped by to check on us a few times and chatted for a while. I really felt comfortable here. We will definitely be back for lunch again.

I am impressed by the service I receive every time I come around. The owner is always on site, and ready to answer questions about a menu that is always in flux and unique. The plates come out quick if you are on a short break for lunch, and the price point for the basic sandwich and chips is affordable. Though I only treat myself here when I can. The sides compliment the main dishes well, though I wished that the option to sub the side for chips was cheaper for the plate, or you still received pita chips with the additional side. All in all, I have a fantastic experience every time and am happy its right down the street from me, whenever I'm craving something amazing and different.

This is in our neighborhood and I just can't say enough good things about Kitchen 452. I've been here a couple times for lunch, and once for a special dinner offer during Walk on Woodburn. The folks who work here are SO UNBELIEVABLY NICE and are clearly very invested in the neighborhood. I've always enjoyed the food here and the decor. Highly recommended lunch spot whenever you happen to be in East Walnut Hills.

First time here and WOW... amazing! Besides being busy, odd hours and having to wait, the service was great. I can see why they were slammed, because the food is very light and packs a punch! Very happy and I cannot wait to go back. The only problem is that when they are open is when I am working. Just have to wait for my next off day and I am looking forward in that! Due to the odd hours my girl friend and I bought a lot, because we figured we would have left overs (Wrong... Couldn't stop eating haha!). We tried two sandwiches, side of potato dip, two different side salads and two cookies. The banana sandwich with the side pear salad was unique, different and something I wouldn't normally get. Best decision I made today and I highly recommend others to try this!

I love this place. Contrary to a couple other reviews I have not had to wait. The food is good enough to write home about, the space is bright and clean, and the owners and staff are as nice as it gets. This is a GREAT place for lunch. This part of East Walnut Hills is ready to explode.

So what does one say when one experiences essence of goodness and elixir of culinary happiness muddled together in a cauldron and left simmering for hours? I am not sure what you say quite frankly... What I can say is that K452, as I have now officially dubbed it, is a great little place on Woodburn Ave. It's the kind of place that makes you want to camp out, put on the "Into the Wild" soundtrack (if you don't like Eddie Vedder you can just stop reading right now) and just be there. Super clean and fresh, I think they even filter the air which gives it a certain "Rivendell" quality. The staff is terrific sporting an enthusiastic and friendly vibe (but certainly not in the weird "eat this wheat grass of you are not welcome" kind of way). The food is what you would expect, tons of flavor and goodness without making you feel like you need to go do Crossfit ex-post. Prices are a little high, but I understand that and honestly I am ok with it if it makes the place work. Oh and order the coffee...it makes for a great little capstone. Cheers!

Kitchen 452 serves excellent spicy pumpkin soup and the sandwiches are satisfying. There is a limited menu and everything on it is excellent. I would recommend it for a weekday lunch. The decor inside is cute and it's a great addition to a growing neighborhood business district.

Wanted to try someplace new and yelp reviews led me to this gem in Walnut Hills. Don't like the sound of Pumpkin soup but tried it based on the owners recommendation. It was absolutely delicious! The turkey sandwich with their creative toppings was enough to put this on my return soon list so I can try other enticing menu items. I also sampled an orzo side item which I will get next time.
