This was our first time to Hwy 55. We were looking for someplace new and we were in the Eastgate area. The outside is cute and pretty spot-on with looking like a 50's diner. Upon entering, a server held the door open for us and welcomed us in with a smile. ALL of the servers were so nice, saying hi to us as we passed them to get to our table. The interior is a replica of a 50s diner, complete with 50s music, pictures of 50s stars, and a TV playing an old movie. They did a great job with the interior. The servers were all dressed the same, in pink 50s-style outfits, and always had a smile on their face. The menu is pretty big. But if you want to try Hwy 55 and hope to find something even remotely healthy, that will not happen. This is a place to splurge on burgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes. The healthiest thing you can get is a grilled chicken burger. We ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak sandwich, the Cheesesteack sandwich, a side of fries, and a side of onion rings. Note: The sandwiches do not come with sides; you have to pay for the fries, onion rings and any other sides you want. Our meal came out in approximately 10 minutes, which wasn't bad because the place was pretty full; we were there during lunch hour. But here's why I only gave it 2 stars. The food has absolutely no taste to it. It was almost bizarre. The fries were tasteless; the breading on the onion rings had no seasoning whatsoever. The sandwiches, although they had mushroom, onions and peppers, had no taste it whatsoever. It was bizarre. So we heavily salted the fries (which we NEVER have to do), asked for sides of mustard and mayonnaise for our sandwiches, and used a lot of ketchup for our onion rings. I loved the customer service, and the ambiance was fun, but I will not go back.

Hwy 55, where have you been?! In the world of 50s style diners, we really can't say we have much in this area except Johnny Rockets. (and I think the only one left in the area is at The Banks? Maybe?) My husband and I stopped in here for a quick and late lunch one Saturday before trekking around Jungle Jim's and we were thoroughly impressed. The burgers were delicious, fresh, and came right out. The fries were freshly fried (although I'm sure they came in frozen in a bag) and our waitress was attentive. You're not going to get a gourmet burger here, so don't start looking for the avocado on the menu, but you will get a good meal that will satisfy your "greasy burger" craving as it did mine.

In town from Indy with kids- looking for a family friendly place where my daughter with celiac could eat. Cook and waitress were rock stars. They totally "got" the gf thing and made sure there was no cross contamination. Great burgers, good fries, great service.

Great fun little burger place. The burgers were great as well as the fries. Very friendly staff, everything is made fresh and not expensive at all.

This is such an amazing place to eat! I love the food there! My brother works there! Please go to Highway 55 if you are near or at UC in Clifton!

I don't get over on the east side of town much, but my husband and I were and were looking for something different to eat. So we decided to stop. It was our first time here and I'm glad we stopped. The pieces weren't as bad a we thought they'd be, and the food was good. It wasn't too busy being the middle of the day but the staff wasn't slacking off. They were constantly moving and keeping tables cleaned. Everyone was friendly. We were heated as we came in and several different employees stopped by our table to make sure we were doing ok. Our saw us looking over the bill and stopped to make sure it was correct. She looked at it with us and said she could rearrange it a bit to make it just a little cheaper. Wow! We hadn't said anything about the cost. I'm my opinion that went above and beyond normal service. We will definitely be back...Next time with the kids.

Johnny Rockets immitation. Close to Jungle Jims. Fun place to eat at. This is a 50s diner with the usual music and memorelia. Burgers, fries, onion rings, and shakes. Coupons in reach magazine.

Went for lunch with a work colleague after arriving in Cincinnati for the first time. We needed a quick place near the office that wasn't fast food. Old school diner style decor and a 50/60s kitschy theme. Seated quickly but then they seated another party with loud kids right next to us and yet there were plenty of open seats . Services was fairly quick. I had the pimento cheese burger which was pretty good and loaded with bacon. The bun was cold and I ran out of burger before bacon!!! (Actually nothing wrong with that lol) so I am giving it a solid three. Better than fast food, but they need to work out the topping to burger ratio and think about giving a side at lunch vs making it extra (2.99 for fries on top of $4.50 or so for the burger). A lunch special with burger, side and drink would be a huge menu improvement!

First visit was when they first opened... (Technically was its "soft" open). Wasn't a great experience! We understood it was their opening weekend and took it for what it was. Now we come back x/months later and nothing has changed. Service is terrible and food is average. $8.30 for a double cheeseburger?!?!? Pathetic chicken fingers for kids?!?!?? We will never come back... sad to say. Disappointed all 6 of us.

I'm sharing my personal experience because I appreciate reviews, good or bad. I ordered chicken tenders, onion rings and a coffee. The onion rings were "blah", the tenders were very greasy and flavorless. The coffee had grounds on it... it was made in a Keurig machine. Overall the food was edible but I wouldn't go back there to eat. Both the servers and cooks are high school kids, and you can tell they are very unexperienced. I was not impressed with this place and I wouldn't recommend it.

Old school 50s dinner is cool. Great place to eat and grab a drink before you go to Jungle Jims. The food was good as well as the service. The theming was well done. For the price it is a good choice.

Very nice restaurant. Our first visit and the staff are great. Very friendly and attentive. We expected higher costs. I had the special burger, fries, and drink for 6.99. Fresh made burger and hot, fresh fries. They have videos of 50s music shows and commercials playing in large screen at one end. There's a mock up rear of a car booth. Sadly it was occupied when we came in. Everything tasted great and the staff was taking care of cleaning between customers. They offer frozen custard instead of ice cream in cones, shakes, sundaes, and a version like a blizzard called concretes. We'll be back with the kids next trip.

The best things about this place is the music playing, server was nice and the grilling sauce on the table. I am not pleased with the food at all. I will not be eating here again.

Adorable! Everything is brand new, but in a retro style. They pulled out all the stops with the decor. Loved it. Great service. Loved the burger, you can tell they make them by hand. Not for those on a diet! ;)

Really nice decor and cool features and loons clean. This is my first time trying this place , I came on a Sunday afternoon the place was not busy and there was only 2 employees working a cook and another person that was doing everything else ( like shakes and dining in and cashing out Togo orders ) honestly the service was so slow and all over the place !! I ordered a chicken sandwich and I asked for the grilled chicken , upon getting my order I asked the waiter to change it from a To go order to a eat in order ( he said no usually people take food Togo ) idk what he was saying so I ignored it and I ate it inside , honestly that did not bother me because I tipped him 30% !! What bothered me is the sandwich was so soggy !!! The bun seemed like it was in a steamer for so long that it had water in it or very very soggy and the chicken was not a breast it was 3 little peaces of chicken that was steamed ,, either way the sandwich was soggy it should not be like that other than that the fries was good!!

This place is terrible..... I stopped in to get a carryout. The food was finished by the time I ordered and went to the bathroom. Too fast... and the burger was well-done. I opened the burger when I got to the car and it was sooo hot that I could not pick it up. I asked for lettuce and mayo but it was plain. I suspect that it was already cooked and sitting in a warming drawer. The only cheese options were swiss, provolone, pepper-jack and American (which is not cheese). The guy who took my order was more than nice... the food, however, was horrible.

This place opened up in the Jungle Jim's plaza right around the corner from us so we HAD to go check it out. Went with some our family and had a great time! It's in the style of a 50's diner, the decor and even the name tags on the employees are a true throwback to that. They play the "oldies" as the restaurant music, which is pretty nice. The food is good, as well as the frozen custard, I believe they have a different specialty flavor they make up each day. It's very nicely priced, with specials listed in the menu [at least there was when we went.] I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area and want a nice themed, great priced dinner. :)

The Good: the atmosphere was decent, the staff was friendly, the food came fast. The Bad: the food was decent enough... somewhere a step above the Steak 'n Shake, about a "tie" with Five Guys (maybe a little less), but clearly no where close to the goodness of SmashBurger on Beechmont. The Ugly: The "Signature Sides" of $3 chili cheese fries were pathetically small (see pic). Even asked the waitress if this was the *real* portion size or if there was some mistake. In person, they were smaller than Wendy's Chili Cheese fries and tasted about the same (w/o beans). The chocolate milkshake had excessive amounts of chocolate syrup. The X-Factors: (-minus) everything was served in "to-go" containers (like styrofoam cups for the soft drinks, plastic forks/knives, etc.) ...so lost some points on authenticity to apparently save on the staff doing dishes. (+plus) pellet ice is awesome. (-minus) they had WiFi showing, but no one knew the password. In the end: It was like a Culver's knock-off with better deco, but worse food. I could see hanging out here before/after a movie at the discount Danbarry Movie Theater or after a day at shopping or Jungle Jim's... but not a "destination" place where I'd make a trip *just* for Hwy 55. (3-stars)

Really reasonable prices and tasty food. We tried the chili dogs with slaw, and they were really good! I will go back.

This was my first time here. Service was spot on. Had the double cheeseburger and gravy fries. Food was decent, but I have to complaints. First, everything was under seasoned. Not bland, but it wouldn't hurt to throw some more salt and pepper on the burgers when they're being cooked. The other complaint is the burger bun. The bottom was already getting soggy and falling apart as soon as I got it. Overall, decent food though.

Love the 50's feel, it was really cute! The service was fast and friendly. The prices were extremely reasonable! My family of 4 (5 if you count our 19-month-old) ate for $30 & had more food than we could eat! The burgers, although weren't "gourmet" were hot & really tasty! We got burgers, fries, onion rings and the philly cheesesteak with provolone, instead of American cheese (which was my personal favorite!!) Love the family-friendly atmosphere, great prices & all-around yummy food! This is a great addition to the Eastgate area!
