I love the Coffee Emporium!. In my opinion, they have the BEST brew in Cincinnati (that's right, I said it). I am lucky enough to live about 3 block away from this location, so I come here pretty regularly to get coffee to go and grab a pound of their whole roast coffee beans. If you just want hot coffee, you can actually pour it yourself at the front station and pay up front to shorten your wait time. If you're not looking for normal black coffee, I recommend any of their iced drinks. I really love their iced coffee, which is a cold brew and just fantastic. If you plan on staying to enjoy your drinks, the set up inside is adorable. It's an old house with a beautiful outdoor patio in the front and in the back, plus indoor seating upstairs. People come here to hang out with friends, read, and work. It's a good balance of being not too loud and not too quiet. They have a wide selection of roasts, so I definitely say you should bring home a pound of Coffee Emporium coffee! It makes waking up so much easier. If you like flavored coffees, my favorites are the Winter Solstice (tastes like cuddling under wool blankets next to a fire place, watching the snow fall down) and the Mackinac Island Fudge (tastes like warm dark coffee with a hint of snickers bar). If you don't have a coffee grinder at home, make sure you ask them to grind it for you fresh. Love you, Coffee Emporium!

The place is a house converted coffee shop. Things I liked about the place... 1. Pretty chill and relaxed aura. 2. Simple setup, nothing fancy. 3. A lots of space, front and back. 4. They have a account system which keeps track of coffee flavors ordered by regulars who have an account with them so they wouldn't have to customize their coffee everytime. Things that didn't like 1. There are shit-ton of American flags all over the place. It's fine to have 1 or 2 but more than 10 is like you are saying 'I have bigger penis than you'. Also it sub-communicates narrow-mindedness. 2. The front door handle is quite tight and they keep their doors closed so if someone with two cups in their hand tried to open the door, it wouldn't open. 3. I ordered hot cocoa. It was ok, nothing special. Tasted pretty similar to nestle hot chocolate that comes in a sachet. Plus it was warm.

Fantastic ambience , especially on a cold or wet evening. The coffee is wonderful - but its the coffee house that makes it better. My wife and I enjoyed a game of chess over a cup of coffee and glimpses of the neighborhood on a wet sunday evening. A great place to sit down, relax and enjoy(or work!).

This is one of the few coffee houses that is actually a house. Overall good coffee. I really enjoy the could brew and my significant other loves their dirty soy chai(or dirty hippie as I call it). I have also had good experience with their pastries. They also have a very nice covered patio. The only problem with it is I have difficulty getting a good WiFi connection outside, so I usually sit up stairs. There is a decent number of outlets available inside, for those who need to charge their electronics. Overall this is a solid coffee stop. It will easily blow any S-bucks out of the water if that is your standard.

I love Coffee Emporium's coffee so much, and this location is so stinkin' adorable that I can't come up with any reasons why I don't go more often. They have an adorably quant back patio that sort of reminds me of the Secret Garden, and also an upstairs that makes me wish I went to college in Cincinnati, so I could have gone there for all my studying. The only complaint I have is there should more "comfy" seating -- ya know, oversized leather sofas, fireplace, dark woods, etc. Aside from that, I love the small neighborhood coffee shop feel, and don't think you could find a cuter house for it. My personal faves are: a vanilla latte (better than ole Starbucks, if you ask me), hazelnut brewed coffee (quite possibly better than Panera), and an iced toddy (heads up #1: you can buy a growler of toddy and refills are only $5!) Heads up #2: They have a frequent buyer card (similar to Starbucks) that you can either reload with money or just rack up drinks (just remember to hand over your card BEFORE you buy). If you buy 11 then you get the 12th free.

This location was their first location, and has the most charm and ambience. In an old house that is been turned into a coffee shop they have some of the best coffee in town. On the outdoor patio covered with vines they have a fire pit in the winter and charming café seating in the summer. On the second floor is equate coffeeshop seating area that can sometimes be loud.

Unbelievably nice people. Come on a nice day and enjoy the very large & spacious outdoor seating, they even have at least 1 outlet by a table that I can see right now outside! Had a double shot espresso, nice and sweet undertones, had a cold brew coffee as well and added 1/2 oz of vanilla and a splash of half and half. Cute place and good wifi!

The coffee is absolutely amazing and the drinks, flavors, staff and atmosphere all adhere to their mission statement. They have baby purées as well which was very convenient while having my little one along for the ride. I will be back during my short stay here in cinci.

I have stopped in a number of times just to grab coffee on my way to work. It's a pretty efficient setup if all you want is a quick cup of coffee. They have self serve offering multiple basic choices of coffee. This keeps the line moving if there is one because all your have to do is pay. If you want something special they are more than happy to brew that for you as well. I will say that I like the quality of the standard drip coffee better than I have experienced at some other places in the area. I have also been there at a more relaxed time to sit and enjoy myself. The cappuccino is good and always satisfies. They have seating upstairs in a room that has a cozy feel with lots of tables of different sizes. They also have a collection of loose leaf teas available that they will brew for you. Real tea and herbal. My complaint with the herbal tea selection is that they did not seem to have any plain teas, they were all blends or with fruit added. If I want herbal teas I am looking for plain unflavored rooibos our something comparable. I did like the tea I ended up drinking but I felt the herbal tea choices were limited. They also sell some baked goods. I haven't tried anything other than the scones, but they are really good. My favorite scones in the city.

Coffee Emporium is a cool little coffee shop. I prefer to support local places, the employees are so much more friendly and passionate, and it shows. This was a nice change of pace from your typical Starbucks. We went on a late Saturday morning, so it wasn't terribly busy. We had a short wait for our drinks, nothing too bad. We both ordered the 'Nutty Irishman', one hot one iced. This was one of the better coffee drinks I've had in a while. It has espresso, hazelnut, and Irish cream. and steamed milk. It was awesome. The atmosphere of the place is what did it for me. The outside was really cute and made for a nice place to read while the girlfriend got her nails done down the street. My only complaint, and its a small one, was that the bagels weren't really that good, but I wasn't expecting it to be amazing so no big deal. I was eye balling that Bourbon barrel aged coffee so I will definitely be back to pick some of that up.

Cool place to read, study or hang out. Three stars because I got more ice than coffee and it's $0.60 extra for soy milk instead of whole milk. The outdoor patio and additional seating in the back yard is nice. I ended up preferring reading and drinking upstairs which has tables and chairs to work, read and eat. There were adorable China tea sets in the large windows. The view upstairs was nice. I wasn't a big fan of all the bugs inside though. That was a bit distracting. Going upstairs is definitely good if you want to be in a quieter area. I saw people using laptops so I assume there's WiFi.

This place has, hands-down, the best hazelnut latte I have ever had. I love it so much that I'm afraid to branch out and try other things on the menu for fear of being disappointed! The shop is very small, so don't be scared off if you see the line going out the front door... the employees are very friendly and work hard to get your order ready very quickly. No matter how busy it might get, the staff are always happy to see you and make sure that you leave satisfied.... can't recommend them enough!

Not only is the building great, the means for getting through the line in an orderly fashion is pretty great, too. Parking can be a bit iffy, though, so that is probably the biggest complaint I have about an otherwise fantastic spot. Coffee Emporium's Hyde Park location features metered street parking (or free residential parking if you plan on walking a little bit further to and from your car) and an orderly line which makes its way from outside the front door through the coffee shop, where you exit to the rear, where there is more than enough outdoor seating--much of it shaded. If there is inclement weather, there is additional indoor seating upstairs. Coffee Emporium sells pastries (breads and muffins), as well as basic breakfast items (bagels, breakfast burritos and to-order waffles on Sundays), in addition to all of its wonderful beverage options--my favorite being the Glacial Mocha. Every drink I've had has been fresh and delicious, and the solid customer service always makes for a pleasant experience.

I owe this one to you Yelpers...and of course Coffee Emporium! I am here from out of town while my fiancé is here on business. I needed something to do to kill some time this morning so I hit Yelp, of course! I was able to find some free parking in the neighborhood right around the corner from the coffee shop. I walked right in to a friendly staff. I got a Carmel flavored macchiato. Oh my, what a nice change of taste from the typical Starbucks. This place makes a great cup of Joe! I got my drink, took a beautiful walk through the neighborhood of old homes and came back to the coffee shop to do some work from my laptop. Jumping on the wifi was a breeze and I couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere to hang out in for the day! Long story short, this place rocks! I will retain lay be back next time I am in town.

Love this little spot! Fantastic patio! Phenomenal coffee and wonderful baked onsite goodies. Nice gory met chocolate selection as well. Local goodness done right. Very nice people as well. Bring change for metered parking. Wifi was a bit slow.

A perfect place to start your day! With creative coffee drinks and delicious food you can't go wrong. Add friendly service and a cozy atmosphere to the list as well. The mudslide blended drink is wonderful!

Such a cute place! If you are planning on going there for the food- I'd recommend not. I was really disappointed with the wrap that I got, but I guess they aren't known for their food! BUT everything else about the place was great! Tea, coffee, people, atmosphere- it was all nice. I would definitely go back!

As always the baristas and staff of Emporium deliver. One of Cincinnati's local business treasures - they don't sacrifice character or quality even as they expand with other locations in the Queen City. An outdoor fire stoked on a 15 degree morning is a perfect example of why you shouldn't go to a national chain. Their chai mix kicks butt.

  • AJ D.

Coffee is better than Starbucks and the atmosphere is nice too on a sunny day outside, or upstairs when the weather isn't too great.

While not as awesome as it's sister coffee shop in OTR, Coffee Emporium in Hyde Park is a definite A+. Located in an old historic home, Coffee Emporium has a nice large outdoor seating area (covered and open), as well as a quiet, but small, upstairs for when the whether is cold. The staff is always very friendly, the prices are low and I have never had an issue with the wireless. Since this store is smaller than the OTR Coffee Emporium, they do not offer a broad selection of food options. Parking is not an issue as long as you don't mind walking a few blocks.

  • Peter B.

The best coffee I have ever had! The baristas are very knowledgeable, and as long as things aren't too frantic (early morning rush hour) they take the time to talk about drinks, roasts, beans, etc if you want to learn about your drink. My wife bought a couple muffins and brownies that looked really good on the display next to the cash register. They were disappointing. Come here for the coffee, not the food. The food probably comes from the OTR location, so I suppose it might be better there, where it's fresher, but we haven't had the chance to find out yet. Parking is on the street and the spots right next to the shop are usually taken. You might have to walk a block or two, but the coffee is definitely worth that little bit of exercise. Skip the 'skim, no whip' and get your latte the way it was meant to be.

This coffee shop has it all, great coffee, amazing people, and a pleasant atmosphere (especially for this 60 degree weather!). Walking in you will find a small shop with a rustic atmosphere, littered with treats and coffee affiliated decor; it is very inviting. The mound of huge brownies, coffee cake, and jars of various jumbo cookies immediately reeled in my attention (what can I say, I have an insatiable sweet tooth). The line was large, though out door doesn't mean much since the door is about 4 feet from the counter. Nonetheless, the barista's were proactive and took our orders before reaching the counter so our drinks were ready upon cashing out. Being a caramel fiend I went got the salty caramel mocha. It was spot on, but it's really sweet (even for my taste) so be weary if you prefer your esp a little more bitter. Honestly, the description is a dead giveaway, so I'm sure you guys can figure it out. We ended up getting both the cake and the cookie, of course, which they gladly heated up for us. Both were amazing, you can never go wrong with a gooey chocolate chip, peanut butter cookie! Few things to note: 1. Everything here is locally supplied, from the beans for their coffee to the chocolate bars they sell on the racks (the bars are kind of expensive, but they are delicious). 2. The seating - They have some great patio seating in the back covered by an wooden awning covered in lights and vines. Very relaxing during day and ambient at night. Downside to the outdoor seating is very limited outlets, and have three prong plugs. They also have seating upstairs, it's cozy but limited. I would recommend the laptop users to venture here since outlets are ubiquitous and you can actually see your screen. My closing words, this is a great place to get out there and support your local community; drink down a cup of coffee and eat a few deserts. Besides, it's easier than actively volunteering.... psssh who does that? Note: Don't be a dick... volunteer.

This was a cute little coffee shop, with great outdoor seating. They had a wide selection of coffees (hot and cold), teas, smoothies, and homemade baked goods. There was no line and it was very quiet. It has a nice patio and the traffic isn't heavy, so it's peaceful to sit outside. You can bring your pets. Overall it's a great find if you want the outdoor coffee shop experience.

Loved the recommendations from staff and the place was beautiful on a sunny day... Just didn't like the parking situation and felt a little rushed for ordering as a newcomer. Had the cold brewed coffee black and the goetta and red potato quiche

Definitely my best coffee shop in Cincinnati. I love the fact that they roast their beans in-house so the coffee is always fresh. Their first location which is this shop in Hyde Park is an old beautiful Victorian house including a big back patio and second-floor seating. Great for getting some work done or meeting up with friends. All of their coffee drinks are delicious and they also have a wide selection of tea.

They make a perfect cup of espresso. Have yet to try their coffee, but the baristas are friendly and hospitable.

Coffee Emporium carries an assortment of lovely teas. They stock my usual favorites such as the jasmine, the mate, and the green tea. Their baked goods, however, look like they've been sitting there for awhile--or they taste sweet or not sweet enough. The employees are helpful and friendly when you place your order. They are located beside a quaint and cozy neighborhood; people could probably jog to the cute house called Coffee Emporium and order their refreshing cup of iced coffee. The parking might be an issue if you're driving because you'll have to park by the meters, and you can't hang out long. Overall, if you're looking for a relaxing afternoon with your favorite cup of tea or coffee, then swing by this locally owned shop.

If you know me, you know my love for the Coffee Emporium on Central Parkway in OTR. I'd heard good things about the original location in Hyde Park, so I felt it time to try it out. I must say I love the vibe of the quaint house feel across the street from the Mushroom House structure thing (that looks pretty stellar). Anyhow, once walking into the little house, we were greeted by friendly workers in a cute little shop. I had read reviews on here to try the cookies, so we did just that. My friend and I each got the peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and I got a hot chider. My friend got a regular coffee. The service was prompt and they had all our drinks and food waiting for us before we even finished paying. Heck yea! As we ventured upstairs, we were greeted with quite a few people. We made our way to the closest table and sat down. As a side complaint, the table was completely lop-sided, causing our drinks to shift and almost spilled. But we managed. We had come to exchange our Christmas gifts a little late, and were looking for a chill spot that was quaint. That vibe was met, but it just wasn't exactly what we were looking for. Maybe I'm just more used to the urban, more spacious and better for people watching vibe of the OTR location, but I wasn't blown out of the water. The place was HOT. Like super hot. Like, I shouldn't have worn a cardigan and scarf and tights. Hot. Anyway, I always tweet at the OTR location that I swear I will meet my future husband at Coffee Emporium. But sadly, I was not getting that vibe here. Perhaps it was because it's January, and maybe I'll like the outdoor vibe better during the warm months, but I wasn't awe-struck. Needless to say, I dug the downstairs more, with the cool baristas. I'll definitely come back, and hopefully I'll dig the vibe then. But totally try the cookies. Moral of the story.

You got my heartbeat runnin' away. Beatin like a drum and it's comin' your way. Can't you hear that boom badoom boom boom badoom boom bass... I finish my morning run in Ault Park by heading straight towards good old Coffee Emporium, heartbeat runnin' there too. This place epitomizes the perfect neighborhood coffee shop. Friendly staff, a lot cheaper than what you get at other independent shops, 75 cent refills, free wifi that works, a lovely outdoor garden and cozy upstairs seating. Lots of students (and I) bring laptops here. I could easily hang around all afternoon. They do delicious in-house waffles on Sunday mornings and have a great selection of wraps and scones, pecan bars, organic chocolate, etc. for you to munch on as you read or do work.

They have everything! I love this tiny, friendly location. They have such a great selection of patio seating! It's so cozy inside, you're practically forced to meet new people. The staff is friendly and efficient. They have an amazingly wide array of sundries they sell in the meager interior space. I was impressed. They have strawberry espresso jam! This place comes highly recommended. Did I mention iced chaider?!? Amazing.

I'm obsessed with their almond tea. It's unlike any other tea I've had. Like a dessert tea almost. There's multiple locations and I'm a fan of all of them. The staff is friendly and the vibe is eclectic. One of my favorite coffee joints in Cinci for sure!

    (5)
  • Sarah B.

The coffee here is fantastic. Some of the best I've ever had. I'm working my way towards not using any sugar or cream, and this coffee is so good that I didn't need either. The service is friendly and efficient, a winning combination for any business. Also, the banana bread and lemon raspberry cake were very tasty.

  • Michelle H.

This place is so charming! Where else can you have a cooffee outdoors with a firepit and view the famous Mushroom House? It's true, there is not a great selection of seating, but the warm hospitality, fast and friendly service, and delicious coffee and snacks keep you coming back, even if you have to enjoy it elsewhere. They offer a nice selection of teas but I am usually getting the spicy chocolate mocha or the dark chocolate mocha. Iced coffee in the summer is stupendous, and there is a selection of gifts for purchase as well. I love the chocolate selection but it's also great to buy things for any Cincinnatian or foodie in your life. I love the handy frequent-buyer card but I do agree, parking can be tricky. If you are able to enjoy your coffee outside, there is a lovely ambiance to the place and a strong sense of community. I have met many interesting people while milling around outdoors.

This shop, along with their OTR location, are by far my favorite coffee shops in Cincinnati. The baristas are always super friendly. They're knowledgeable and give great recommendations if you're looking for something different to drink. Both the drinks and the pastries are consistently delicious. Their roasted almond tea is my favorite. I often come here to study and stay for quite a few hours at a time. They have a ton of outdoor seating, but their indoor seating is limited and can fill up during the winter months. If you're looking for a long term place to sit in colder weather, you might have better luck finding a table at their OTR location. Great shop! Highly recommrnd supporting this locally owned business!

Of all the coffee shops in the area, coffee emporium is my favorite especially when it's nice outside, they have plenty of seats out in the street and in their patio. and the neighborhood there is very beautiful and quiet. My husband tries something new every time from their iced coffee mixes and they're all really good (full of calories though) I stick to my cafe mocha most of the time and they make it just the way I like! I wish they have better seating inside because it's tiny and very difficult to find a place to sit if it's cold outside. the servers there are awesome, friendly and work fast so don't be intimidated by long line you'll get there in few minutes.

  • Sally Y.

This Coffee Emporium is definitely in an eclectic spot. It's not quite in the heart of Hyde Park's main attractions making it a bit hard to find parking during peak hours, but the lovely outdoor patio, staff, and of course coffee make up for all of that. I love how there are multiple levels to this place, and the inside just feels more homey than the other locations do. It's a great place to sit down for a chat over some warm brew while catching up with friends!

Discovered this place while on a business trip to Cincinnati. Overall, loved this place. Great ambiance, beautiful gardens, and ample upstairs seating. The front room is tiny, and you literally have little room to order your drink. That said, it's worth it! Climb the stairs (carefully, as they are a bit treacherous) to sit back and enjoy the upstairs sitting room. It reminds me of a scene out of Alice in Wonderland. Calming, "child-like" ambiance. Loved it.

One of my favorite places to grab an afternoon coffee with friends or camp out all day to study and do some homework. An adorable coffee shop with a great atmosphere (inside and out), knowledgable and friendly baristas, and delicious drinks. If you live in Cincinnati, love coffee, and have never been here, shame on you! :)

I love Coffee Emporium. It truly feels like a neighborhood spot...it is in an old Victorian house and blends right in with its Hyde Park surroundings. You feel urban, chic, and a little sophisticated when you stop in. It also makes me think "I wish I could live here!" the colors and history of the old house are inspiring. Coffee drinkers, and Sunday morning brunchers, spill onto the back and front patio. I don't think there is an indoor dining area. The drinks are absolutely yummy and pretty too. My sister and brother-in-law live down the street so we get to stretch our legs and then reward ourselves with an iced mocha. Yes! Tip: If you are trying to show off the area, take out of towners here!

  • Katie F.

Some of the best coffee you'll find in Cincinnati, with many locations. They have such a friendly, helpful staff. My first time there, a barista took time out of his day to teach me a little about coffee! Not only is their coffee great, but so is their food! Overall, it is an amazing place to relax and have a cup of joe.

  • Cary B.

Love it love it! They have learned to read my mind when I can't make a decision after yoga class. They are always slammed on Sundays, but the line goes fast and the staff are hard working and lovely. I love sitting in the garden or upstairs, even when it is crowded. cons: watching cops park in the "no parking zone", then they give other people tickets for doing it.

We were in Cincinnati a couple of days, my husband ended up coming here everyday. Great place to sit and enjoy a good cup of coffee and one of their delectable treats. Coffee was full, bold, but not burnt like other places.

Love this place! The staff is friendly, the drinks are good, the snacks are great. I highly recommend the lemon pound cake, or the peanut-butter and chocolate bar, or the chocolate chip muffin, or the bacon-egg-cheese breakfast burrito. Seating upstairs is a little tight, but from March to November you can usually sit outside, and then there's plenty of room. Many people also go for the waffles on Sunday morning: many topping options.

Coffee Emporium hit it out of the park today with my morning coffee. As a Seattleite, I'm pretty picky when it comes to my espresso drinks, but I was truly impressed by the quality latte produced by the barista on bar duty. The milk (I went with their standard, which is whole) was fresh creamy perfection, the foam was heavenly dense and decadent, and the espresso was sweet without a touch of bitterness. Not to mention, all the staff members workings were pleasant and smiling, which is pretty impressive given how early it was in the morning. I can't wait to go back again and try their brewed coffee or one of the tasty looking pastries lining the counter.

So while the Coffee Emporium in Over-the-Rhine will always be my base of operations, this is a pretty good secondary home . I love Coffee Emporium. I love their selection of food and drinks. I love their home roasted delicious beans. I love their friendly staff. I love their delicious fresh lunches. I pretty much love it all. This shop seems like it was built into an old house (and I wouldn't be surprised if it was). There's no lot to park in but street parking is plentiful around there. I've never had an issue finding a spot. Walk into the main door and order your drink. The menu on the wall is large so don't feel intimidated if you need a moment to look it all over before speaking. The staff is always friendly (and I meant that, I've never met an unfriendly worker here) and they'll help you pick the right drink or eat. My only real complaint is the size, which is just a little too cramped for my liking. Yes, there are tables spread throughout (and I mean throughout - outside, in the back, upstairs, everywhere) but ordering coffee in the semi-small room can be a hassle, especially when the line if long. I guess I've just been spoiled by the warehouse-esq ginormity of the one in OtR. Still, this is a small complaint in what is otherwise a wonderful coffee shop. If you're in or near Hyde Park and need a spot to take a breath, this is where to go.

I am an Eastsider. I teeter around in high heels, I call my padre daddy in a high, whiny voice, and I drink coffee like it's nobody's business. But that doesn't automatically mean I always like it. I really, really want to like Coffee Emporium. It's within walking distance of my boyfriend's, it's on the way to school, AND IT'S A COFFEE SHOP IN A HOUSE. And I do like it...the atmosphere, really. The upstairs is adorable and makes me feel like I'm in the study that I want so badly I've contemplated moving into acquantances houses simply for their futon-enriched useless room. Uhm...I mean it's like the study I've never had. However, the food's a little rough, and the coffee isn't just my cup of tea. (Extremely awkward/incorrect pun intended.) It's a little on the mild side, even their boldest blend (they have 4 for you to choose from!) The upside is that it's unlimited if you sit in their little garden/patio place in the front or upstairs. Alas, I can do the same thing at Panera in Hyde Park Plaza AND get a good bite to eat as well. Their scones, brownies, etc...blech. Is someone there diabetic? Lactose intolerant? Maybe...celiac's? Hey, for the record, my friend Hannah has celiac's and her baked goods taste WAYYYYYYYY better. Come on now, CE. You want my business? Make some good baked goods. (Less awkward/correct pun intended.) I will say one thing for Coffee Emporium...if you do like them, they'll be there for awhile. The Starbucks down the street recently closed. However, I'll go the extra 3 blocks and buy my skinny vanilla latte at the Plaza's Starbucks over drab Coffee Emporium coffee anyday.

Good coffee. Lots of interesting drinks. The food is just ok. Come here for the coffee, not the food. Everything is premade and warmed up. Good place to read. Not a good laptop workplace. Half the outlets upstairs don't work.

The Coffee Emporium is definitely my favorite coffee shop in Cincinnati. Oddly enough, my favorite drink on the menu isn't coffee. Raspberry Italian Soda.... For.... The....Win! Aside from the awesome drink selection, there are lots of fun treats- many of them vegan friendly and health conscience. There are also little odds and ends you can purchase.. Coffee makers, mugs, things like that. I love the location, the only slightly bad part is the size. It's so tiny inside..There's great outdoor seating so for 3/4 seasons it's not really an issue if you want to have your coffee there. There's a small seating area upstairs. Weather permitting, there are several nice tables out front, and then a lot more tables behind the establishment under .... I can't think of the word for it... But it's basically a covered patio in the back area. The staff is always super friendly. Overall I love going there. Great spot to chill.

Very cute and cozy, with an excellent outdoor area in the front and back. Great place to take your dog as well. The staff is incredibly friendly, and after talking to them, they whipped me up the perfect drink! I didn't want caffeine at the time, and it was a hot day, so they made me a delicious cherry chocolate freeze. While you're waiting for your drink, you can browse random treats, jams, mugs, coffee makers, etc.

Awesome coffee house, but they get slammed on the weekends so arrive early and plant a friend to save a table!

On a pleasant day there is no better patio in Cincinnati to sip a cup and talk. Anne's Aztec Mocha is cininnati's best coffee drink!

Love the atmosphere and friendly staff. Love the variety of teas and coffee. Not to mention the great vegan desserts!

Cutest coffee house around! The staff are super nice and helpful. Awesome outdoor seating in the back and truly awesome iced chai. Fancy whole beans for purchase as well.

Just one question: why the shit would anyone go to Starbucks when there exist coffee shops like this. A perfect 10... Okay okay it's Yelp so a perfect 5. 'Nuf said.

Coffee Emporium is one of my favorite coffee shops, period. There isn't one bad thing I could say about either the coffee, the food, the service, or the variety of locations that they have. They have some of the best tasting coffee ever. They also have a great loyalty program with free coffee, which my fiancée and I have racked up many times in the last few months alone. We love this place and everything that they stand for.

Best coffee in Cincinnati....sometimes the snobby Hyde Park types are out in abundance, but that's not the coffee shops fault...

Fantastic place, with an absolutely wonderful staff, and (finally!) pastries as good as their superb coffee and amazing collection of teas; I particularly recommend the raspberry/almond rugelach. Also, if you're into something more hearty for breakfast, the breakfast burritos are great! With several different outdoor seating areas, including a large and lovely back patio shaded by a dense wisteria trellis, and a small but comfortable upstairs room for damp cold days, there is almost always somewhere to sit, to work on their free wifi or chat with friends. I've made a marvelous collection of friends at Coffee Emporium, and my mornings there have become the most important part of my day.

Aside from having amazing drinks - I love the flavored mochas - but the thing that keeps me coming back is the atmosphere. The Hyde Park Coffee Emporium has the best patio of any coffee shop I've visited in Cincinnati. You can choose to sit out front where there's great people watching or sit in the back where it tends to be quieter and is easy to get work done. In the winter, the upstairs is great for a good conversation with a friend. If you want to get work done I recommend bringing headphones since it can get a little loud with all the conversations.

This coffee house (literally, it is a converted house) is set in an idyllic verdant wonderland. Go there on a good day and enjoy a cup in their backyard - the landscaping is incredible. I was also taken back by the expertise and passion the staff had for what they served. No other coffee house I've been to compared.

This Coffee Emporium is adorably cozy. It has a nice patio area that is perfect for a nice day. The first floor can get pretty cramped because it's so small, and on a busy day, it's pretty noisy! Love the coffee and goodies, though I'd probably venture to this location on less busy times.

What a cute little coffee place! My husband and I were enjoying a nice drive and stopped at this place to get some coffee. I liked how they had tables outside set up as well for you to sit out and enjoy the nice weather. I'm only giving them 4 because we both got the basic type of coffee. I'll definitely go back to try their specialties if they have any and re-rate them.

Best iced mocha I have ever had....and I moved here from Seattle, land of a million different coffee shops....trust me, I have tried probably 40 different iced mochas and this one beats them all. Cincinnati continuously surprises me with its great coffee :) The breakfast burrito was also great.

The best thing about this place is the outdoor seating. The interior is adorable, but tiny, and the upstairs tables can be hard to get a hold of. So in the winter months, this spot may not be the best for work. However, in the summer--or better yet, in the milder spring and fall--the outdoor seating is excellent, and it's a great spot to spend an hour or two with a book (or a stack of papers, as the case may be). The coffee is expensive, as are all locally-owned coffee shops. But the baristas are friendly and knowledgeable and, while I'm no coffee guru, I must say that their Aztec Mocha is among my favorite drinks ever.

Nice little locally owned coffee shop. A welcome reprieve from the Starbucks society. Upstairs is a small room to hangout/chat/study and the fact that they offer Wifi with a secure connection is great. The coffee was good, but I really only get the fancy stuff at a coffee shop, I can brew the standard "cafe american" at home. About on par with Buffalo Mountain in Deer Park, my fav in the city. Haven't eaten anything from their selection but the friendly staff was explaining how they partner with other local companies for the food. Parking seemed a little difficult, I found an on-street spot without a meter (hate those 60 minute meters) since I was going to study and didn't want to worry about time. Would like to stop on a nice day so I can sit outside and people watch. I'll keep this place in mind for the spring.

I love this place! I much prefer local places to chains, and this place is perfect. Nothing cooler than walking up through their meticulously maintained gardens and into the old house. It always smells amazing inside! I'm not really a coffee drinker, but there are PLENTY of different types of loose tea available for purchase by cup, or even by pound to enjoy at home! If for some reason there isn't a kind of loose tea that tickles your fancy, you can pick a satchel from one of the many different containers they have. The staff has always been super friendly and service is always quick and prompt. I stop by occasionally in the mornings on my way home from work and grab a muffin or scone for breakfast. They aren't the best I've ever had, maybe even a tad dry, but they are still good! When it's nice outside, there are so many different places to sit outside, including the neat part in the back that's under a large trellis. I wish I was still in school- I think this would be a nice place to get work done! Parking can sometimes be a little difficult if you arrive during the busy time in the morning, but never horrible. Skip Starbucks and come over to The Coffee Emporium! I bet you'll be glad you did!

You know the wonderful aroma of a fresh brewed cup of coffee that can wake you up without even taking a sip? Coffee Emporium's coffee has that effect. As a person who drinks a ton of coffee and usually drinks the coffee black, I can really taste a huge difference between the coffee here compared to other coffee shops. With a nice atmosphere that exudes a true coffee shop, this place is definitely a place to go if you want to just lounge around, relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Fun neighborhood spot (hyde park location) with some food and good coffee options. I have been less than impressed with their teas. Especially the chilled teas are lacking in flavor. Love love love the downtown location. It is one of my favorite places to study. Love their Italian Sodas

first time to hyde park location = awesome. i came here, like i typically go to CE dwntwn, for a couple of meetings. it was great. i like the spacious outdoor, shaded seating - nice touch. the coffee, obviously, is awesome. and the atmosphere is terrific. i just wish it was closer to pike street!

Love, love, love this place to work. Plenty of room upstairs, and I love working outside in the garden. The coffee is amazing (even had Mackinac Island Fudge to remind me of home). I wish the Hyde Park location had more food since every time I'm there, I end up spending 6 hours there... but that's a good problem, right? Amazing coffee, adorable space and the outside is so much nicer than my cubicle.

This is the most adorable, dreamy coffee house. It's in an adorable cottage style house, and they have numerous vegan goodies on the counter. I stopped by on a warm afternoon, and I was entranced by the lovely patio seating that feels as if you are in the countryside, but still in the city. My latte was made with love! Even the bathroom was adorable in a cute shabby chic style.

If the weather's nice on the weekend I love to sit outside with a excellent cup of Ravens Blend and a Strawberry Bananna Waffle to start the day off right. Not really a traditional coffee shop set up with make shift couches etc. You place your order in tight quarters and then try to find a place to sit outside in the front or back. Good weather = Good experience.

A 5 star latte in a cozy old Cincinnati suburb. I ordered my drink from the "guitar store" attitude-oriented staff & sat in the quiet creaky upstairs of the cafe. Wish they had couches. Also wish I had ordered a pound of that espresso to take back to St. Louis w/ me.

Nice little coffee shop near the corner of East Hyde Park. It's fairly small, but serves the basics and seems to be set up for coffee on the run. There are five do-it-yourself coffee tins at the front of the restaurant with honey, sugar, etc. next to them. There are some pastries that looked reasonable although I didn't try any on my visit. I had the French Ugandan coffee which was fine and the price was very reasonable. There's not really indoor seating, although there's a lovely brick patio out in front with a number of seats under the trees. I imagine these would be perfect for a nice fall morning. Parking is mostly at the pay meters along the street; as the inside sign notes, park illegally at your own peril. The Hyde Park police station is across the street.

I am a long-time fan of this local cup of coffee in a local coffee cup. It's so hip you are glad you are there. Any of the locations are good, but the home in Hyde Park is special. Don't forget to take a pound of their fair trade stuff home for that next cup. You can become hooked, I am warning you.

This place always feels like coming home. They're the only coffee house to do decaf right and sitting outside is the best way to spend your Spring and Fall.

Independent, Local, and some amazing frozen coffee drinks. Patio is rad, and extra points for having that crazy house across the street. Fantastic Tea selection. Hmm, nothing bad to say really. SKIP YOUR STARBUCKS AND GET SOME EMPORIUM ACTION!

Keep in mind, I am not a coffee drinker - so my reviews about coffee shops are more about atmosphere - which Coffee Emporium has in spades. As well as a great selection of tea, which I do drink. They sell bake goods made by some of the best local bakers and chocolate makers. Cozy sitting room upstairs and out back (which a lot of people just miss). Most regulars at Coffee Emporium, myself included, just pay them in advance and by off of credit (talk about a place that inspires dedication). Lots of knick knacks for last minute gifts are on the shelves as well. Love, love, love Coffee Emporium.

I had one of the best soy chai lattes here of my LIFE! It was so delicious and had the perfect amount of spiciness. I like the area of this shop as well because the store is really spacious and cool and the architecture around the building is really neat to look at. Check out the mural on the wall about three streets down of the man with the top hat...really great!

A very cute coffee shop with amazing food, like the Reese's cookies, sandwiches, and caramel waffles; as well as delicious hot and cold coffee and non-coffee drinks. Dog-friendly and lots of seating inside and out! Definitely will visit again!

I love coffee emporium coffee and espresso even though it's slightly expensive. The chai is the best I've had! It's a great place to go on a sunny day as the outdoor seating is lovely, in both the front and the back. The indoor seating upstairs is a little cramped and musty...I just feel awkward up there. The downtown location is a better choice for a cold or rainy day.

The Coffee Emporium is great independent coffee shop, and I've spent many mornings there studying. The store itself is actually an old home in East Hyde Park. The first floor is the actual store, with a great selection of hot and cold drinks, tons of different types of coffee beans, gourmet chocolates, and other food-related knick knacks. My personal favorite from the drink menu is the Chaider- chai tea mixed with apple cider......quite delicious. I've never had a bad drink there. I will say the prices are pretty high, but not that much different from a place like Starbucks. The upstairs is a nice seating area and also has a bathroom. I'd say there are about 10 tables to choose from. The chairs and tables are a bit rickety, and can get to be a bit uncomfortable if you sit for too long. But still, its a cozy little area. There is also free wifi and a good selection of board games upstairs. The only bad thing I can say is that the windows in the upstairs have terrible insulation- so it can get chilly and drafty upstairs in the winter months. There is a good amount of outdoor seating at the Emporium. One thing about the place that could potentially bug you is the lack of parking. There are only 3-4 metered spots out front, and sometimes you'll have to park a block or two away in the adjacent neighborhood. Its not a big deal to me, but if its icy or you're with someone who is not so mobile, may not be a good idea. Definitely check out the Emporium!

I lived in the area in my college years when this place was getting off the ground. It was nice to help a business starting out. If I still lived there I wouldn't get coffee from anywhere else. Nice variety of coffee and tea, nice selection of treats. This is how it should be

Coffee Emporium has been my coffee shop for years. If I need a cup of coffee and am not near the emporium, I usually decide I don't need a cup that badly. They are absolutely the best in the city. The employees are super friendly and really knowledgeable. They can tell you where the beans are from, how and when they were roasted, etc. Did I mention they roast their own beans? They are never, ever snooty, and they always have tasty cookies and muffins and those little Belgian waffles. Go to the Emporium. You will forget that other mega coffee chain place exists.

Get your Sunday morning waffle fix here. They will almost always get your order wrong, but you really can't mess up any combination of walnuts, bananas, strawberries, chocolate chips and whipped cream. The coffee is really good here, and so are the baked goods/pastries. Every once in a while the owner's wife will mix up a batch of cupcakes or pies - the lemon chiffon cupcake has the perfect ratio of cupcake:icing and is not always available, so don't miss out if you do see it. There's a huge selection of gourmet and hard-to-find chocolate to browse through while you wait for your coffee. Once your coffee is in hand, go upstairs for ample but cozy seating and free WiFi.

I never tried the waffles that everyone else here has been raving about, but I can tell you that I was still thoroughly impressed. The Coffee Emporium has a great selection of coffee beans that you can buy and take home with you, alongside many tea varieties and brewing equipment. They also have a great selection of creative and interesting drinks (Chai tea with apple cider? - don't worry, turned out great) along with the normal staples. Another great example of a local, independent coffee shop. Take a stroll over and relax - It's great after long walk through Ault park.

Their Reserva Especial decaf beans are actual non-caf, i.e. they are grown without caffeine so that no flavor is lost. Their decaf actually tastes better than any regular beans I've ever had! Not only is the coffee amazing but the staff, the regulars, and the shop itself is charming beyond words. The neighborhood seems to have adopted the place, building miniature parks around it. Bonus: get your coffee to go so you can cross the street to gaze at the Terry Brown house.

A great neighborhood coffee shop. This location is filled with runners, baby strollers, and dogs on the weekends, though this isn't really surprising for anything in Hyde Park. They have delicious baked goods for purchase in addition to their excellent coffee selection. The employees are all very knowledgeable and fun to chat with. Great spot to come on weekends and take your coffee to go or go to the upstairs seating area and hang around.
