I've never been to a bakery that smells like poop but I guess there's a first time for everything. The one in Hyde Park needs to be hosed down or something. I doubt I'll ever know what the people of Cincinnati see in this place. Perhaps it was made popular in a time when finding fresh baked items was pretty novel and was made a part of the city's culture then. But these days I think people look for fresh AND good. What I've had from this place, however, is run of the mill, mass-produced, quantity over quality type of stuff. This is the kind of stuff you'd expect from a plastic wrapper next to the grocery check out - not a neighborhood bakery.

A 24-hour bakery! Insanity? No! Genius! Busken is a Cincinnati institution. A bakery known for it's cookies with iced glazed frosting but makers delicious deserts of all kinds! And yes, the one on Madison Road is open all-day, every-day (except on holidays, which I sadly found out when I went with friends to get a cookie to celebrate my New Years Day birthday. Sad.) I love what they do with their cookies for crazy events. Like when Chad Ochocino was on Dancing with the Stars, they made cookies that looked like his face, and for every one bought, they sent in one vote for him. Or during the Presidential Elections, they make cookies of both candidates and will keep a tally of who has had the most purchased (or is winning). Usually, they end up picking the next President! I've heard the complaints. The place makes dry desserts that aren't good - I disagree. I love their desserts. Yes, they're not your usually flower, egg, sugar cakes, but that distinctiveness sets them apart from others around the area. It's why I like them and others, well, don't. (I can't tell you what is different however, I just know it is.) I've also heard they're too expensive and, well, I can't argue with you there. This is not your dollar store bakery - everything is as little higher in price. However, you pay for delicious, and baby, they got it! Cookie, Cookie, Cookie starts with "B."

One of the best bakeries in the country, from donuts to cookies and cakes, Busken does it all. I loved my morning Busken donut with my coffee. The highlights are the glaze topped jelly and the seasonal pumpkin.

Busken, I love you so, so much. I'm so glad I only come to Cincinnati once a year because I gorge on all your beautiful sweets and baked goods and yumminess and I would get so fat if that was a regular habit. I also love that you are open 24 hours a day so when my boyfriend and I have a 14 hour drive back to Boston and need coffee at 3 am to fuel the drive you are there- with an incredibly lovely girl behind the counter who was probably just happy to serve someone at 3 am who wasn't drunk or high. Here in Boston everyone does the Dunkin' Donuts thing. I cannot even begin to explain how far superior you are. I cannot even step into a Dunkin' now without supreme disappointment. You have ruined me for all other donut shops.

I am not a doughnut girl, so much. But when I've visited Cincinnati, my family's attachment to this bakery and it's sweet offerings is pretty understandable. Doughnuts show up at family breakfasts, coffee cakes show up after dinner, cakes for birthdays and special occasions, all from here. Open 24 hours? what? we didn't have that in Phoenix, where I grew up. Busken has been there for as long as my mom has been alive ( she's 81 now) and even though she moved away, her sister and her family still frequent this place. One time, my grandpa brought one of the famous smiley face cookies to me on the airplane when he came to Arizona for Thanksgiving. It was delicious. Almondy icingy yumminess. Mom asked where hers was, and was sad when he said he only brought me one. Yup, I was his favorite, it's a known fact. Anyway, when my daughter and I visit Cincinnati soon, I look forward to getting her the cookie. She's gonna love it. It's in her DNA.

Wow. This little gem of a store is the real deal. I, along with a number of Yelpers had the amazing opportunity to tour the bakery and get a behind-the-scenes look at what is pretty much the closest thing I will have to a Willy Wonka type experience. The delicious items are made around the clock by hard working men and women (not Oompa-Loompas, oh well...). While my current eating style excludes such decadence, I did eat two donuts that pretty much rocked my world. I can't describe how unreal a donut fresh of the line tastes. A little history, I did have these guys make my wedding cake and while this was a few years ago, I definitely remember that the cake was great and working with their consultant was easy. The next time I'm in the market for some bakery yumminess, I'm heading here, and you should too.

This, the central Buskens, is open 24 hours a day. 24 hours a day! Many a night I have stopped by Edwards and Madison to pick up a fresh baked treat. I once watched a friend eat a pound of tea cookies at 1am. Look for these Cincinnati favorites: Iced Cookies: These are large, chewy cookies (there may be something almondy in the dough) with a thick layer of icing on top and a painted design on the icing. The yellow smiley is the classic. They also release seasonal versions like Reds logos, Bengals stripes, St. Patty's Day shamrocks, Valentine's Day hearts, etc. They come in various sizes too. And in low calorie versions (they make a lot; these are REALLY popular in Cincy). Glazed doughnuts: Large, fluffy and hexagonal, the way a doughnut should be. Also look for the Homer Simpson doughnut (pink with purple sprinkles). Tea cookies: Delicious buttery cookies with a generous dollop of icing. Schnecken: A German/Zinzinnati classic, served in the original Virginia Bakery box (they scored that company's recipe when it closed). Basically a loaf of butter with cinnamon sugar and raisins sprinkled on it. One of Cincinnati's many proud local chains. Every city needs a bakery like this.

I like Busken Bakery. That said, I don't think they have the best baked goods I have had, but they carry a wide selection. They are also open 24 hours a day (this location) and bake multiple times a day so you can get fresh baked donuts at different times of the day and night, not just in the morning like some donut shops. There are also many varieties of cookies, cakes, pies, and breads (like apple walnut bread) available year round and seasonal varieties. The cookies that I have had from Busken have not impressed me very much but I have only tried a couple varieties. I have never tried their cakes, pies, or breads. I have tried some rolls, like pumpkin rolls, and I did like them but still not my favorite type of baked good. I do like some of their donuts a lot. I recently had a Baby Alligator that was outstanding and the Kettle Danish are really good too. The cheese cups are also really good. The Maple Persian was only ok compared to other Maple Persians I have had at other bakeries. My wife really likes their Tiger Tail donut that is like a chocolate and plain glazed donut twisted together. All in all, I give them good marks as a donut shop plus the benefit of being 24 hours, but as an overall bakery it's not my favorite place.

The Schnecken, the Schnecken, you simply must try the Schnecken! Seriously, wow. Few things trick me into eating raisins (which I don't much care for), but Schnecken now joins the ranks of bread pudding as a suitable raisin vehicle. Schnecken is a seasonal German pastry that appears to be soaked in butter and by the buttery infusion alone seems like something Paula Deen would make on her show. (It costs just under $10, but it is worth every penny.) I recently learned that this 24-hour Busken closes at 7pm the day before Easter and re-opens Monday after (though I am not sure what time on Monday they re-open). The coffee is so-so, but inexpensive and still tastier than Starbucks (so it wins 2 points for that), and the donuts are divine - and this coming from a gal who easily can turn her nose up at donuts. As expected, they also have many other bakery offerings, like cakes, pies, cookies, and bread, so there are a lot of choices for carb overload heaven when you walk in the door. (But don't actually walk into the door, I think that was bad cliché phraseology on my part.) They have a cake shop attached to the Madison Ave location, and I believe this is the place you can get the amazing "Pizza Cake" which a friend of mine had at her birthday party in January and it was utterly fantastic, melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Since moving within spitting distance of this Busken location, I have managed to avoid it for the most part since carbs are my downfall, but having now crossed that line, I think it will be more difficult to avoid once the smell of baked goods hits my nostrils as I walk down the street. But honestly, a little treat every now and then is completely excusable, and if I want that treat at 3am, the lights will be on at Busken.

Just got a shipment of Halloween sugar cookies my coworkers sent from this place. The sugar cookies here are YUMMY! Unfortunately the cookies came smashed (not Busken's delivery), but they were still so damn good. A bit on the sweet side with the sugar coating, but MAN it hits the sweet spot for a sweets craving. Cute cookie designs too!

Even though it's located in a congested and busy area on Madison road, I think it has the best selection of baked goods. They are fresh (especially the donuts)! I haven't been to a Busken's in awhile. I needed to bring a dessert to a dinner party and thought of Busken. I bought Blueberry Crumb Cake for only $6.50 (enough to feed 6 people). Pricing is very reasonable. Buskens has it all! Cookies, Breads, Coffee Cakes, Pies, Donuts, Cakes for every occasion, coffee, and catering for lunch and breakfast. This location has plenty of parking and bakery is organized and clean. Also, this location opens 24 hours! Can't beat that!! Love this place!

A bakery that's open 24 hours a day? You can't go wrong with that- especially when everything is made by Busken! I never leave without a smiley face cookie...or two...or three. Everything else they make is delicious, as well. They must know some baking secret because their goods stay fresh for days, tasting just as yummy as when you first bought them. You don't even have to wait until you get home to indulge! They have several tables for you to sit at, or you can go to the other side of the store and sit on the bench, while watching custom cakes being decorated!

Have I ever mentioned I am a wild fan of Busken Bakery? It really does not get any better than their headquarters in Hyde Park. Open 24-hours, you can get a donut fix whenever the mood strikes, which is exactly what I do around 4:00am from time-to-time (no, of course I don't know their baking/frying schedule! Ok maybe I do). Everything is good here. It's as fresh as it gets since everything Busken makes happens behind the doors you see in this store! If you don't see something on their shelves, ask and they may have it freshly made in the back for you. You can also grab a hot or cold drink, which is a nice bonus to your tasty treats. Hands down best donuts in Cincinnati and beyond. Also, if you ever get the chance to go on a tour of the bakery, go! I've been twice and it's my version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

It's a 24-hour bakery. And it's very cheap. This is all you need to know. Seriously, we moved just down the street from Busken. If you're looking for a sweet during normal bakery business hours, I recommend one of the many other nearby bakeries just for variety. But Busken always delivers on taste.

I only require a few things in life to make me happy. Good friends. A positive bank account. And a 24 hour bakery 10 minutes or so from my crib. And I didn't get just any old 24 hour bakery, I got the Busken Bakery world headquarters! If I thought it would sell I would make a documentary like "Super Size Me" on Busken Bakery. I would, of course, have donuts for breakfast. Definitely one glazed donut (which I'm pretty sure must contain some sort of crack and/or methamphetamine in the glaze (for the sarcastically-challenged, I kid)) and also one of their mixed cream chocolate covered donuts which has both bavarian cream and white cream mixed together (imagine mixing awesome with dear oh dear this is brilliant). For lunch I would have the cookies. If you're familiar with Busken then you already know what cookies I'm talking about. If not, imagine if there was a bakery in heaven and you asked Archangel Michael (who just happens to be manning the bakery counter on this night), "What is your most popular cookie?" The sugar cookie with yellow icing and the signature smiley face is what you would get. I don't know what makes them so money but I've heard there are almonds in the batter. And who doesn't like nuts? For dinner I would probably do something light like a slice of apple walnut bread and a side of schnecken. I'm not going to tell you what schnecken is but pray to your maker that you get to try some before you die. In closing, let me clarify a few things because I don't want to overhype this place. Is Busken Bakery the best bakery ever? Yes. Do you work for them? No, but I'd consider a job if they were to pay me in baked goods. Are you single because I'm an attractive girl who also enjoys baked goods? Yes I am!

Bacon... on a donut... WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS??? thanks to the yelp tour I discovered this place is open 24 hours a day.. 24 FREAKING HOURS... which was great when we decided to wrap up our black friday shopping at 6 am. Anyways, we walk in to order some donuts, and the wife orders a maple bar... and move on with our other orders. We get in the car... she takes a bite and cries in joy... maybe shock... but would have been joy in my part "honey, there's Bacon on this donut!" And it was delicious, like everything else in the box.. No more greasy burgers for me at 2 am... this is the late night spot.

I like donuts, so naturally I like Busken's orginal glazed. It's perfection. You might be thinking, "What's so special about a glazed donut?" but it's all in the details, friends! Besides, Busken in Hyde Park is open 24 hours and if you're lucky enough to get there when the donuts are fresh, warm, and the glaze is ever so slightly running off, you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm a big fan of pretty much everything Busken bakes. I love how their original smiley face cookie gets all gussied up for special events going on in the tri-state, like Red's Opening Day, St. Patrick's day, etc. Busken is also a place where many a birthday cake has been ordered, and while they are not what you could call cheap, they are definitely delicious. Busken has loads of regular menu items but one of my favorite seasonal items is the pumpkin muffin. Yum.

After sampling more than enough donuts on our Yelp tour, I ventured back to Busken to make good on my debt...and bought more baked goods. One tasty treat had caught my eye during the event: an upside down cupcake covered in orange icing to look like a pumpkin. You're probably imagining a quaint, frosted, tiny cake. Not the case. This cupcake was all FROSTING! A closed star tip froster was used to create thick lines of orange frosting all around the cupcake. I could barely hold it without getting icing on me. But, oh, was it tasty! There was even milk in the cold case to wash down my cakey delight. I also purchased a berry jelly donut for breakfast the next morning. I really desired a lemon jelly donut, but the clerk told me those are only sold in March. I would be head-over-heels if Busken carried lemon jelly donuts year round. Those are my favorite and are very hard to find in Cincinnati! I've actually driven up to Dayton to visit the Krispe Kreme to pick up some of those treats. What a wonder it would be to have them just down the street! I've seen your backroom, Busken. You've got room on a counter for a lemon filling device. Mmmm...lemon.

I'm shocked that Howard Dean didn't include this place in his infamous YEAHHHHHH speech. A 24-hour bakery? SIGN ME UP. I discovered this heavenly place in the midst of a monthly bagel spirit quest, unfortunately occurring at 3am. I searched everywhere and was having absolutely no luck, until Zeus himself tweeted at me to let me know about this establishment. This place gets bonus points because I met an awesome cop there who told me about a bunch of bad assery he had taken part in that night. I offered to buy him a donut but he politely declined.

Delicious donuts and great customer service! We were there buying a half dozen donuts when the credit card machine broke, and of course we had no cash. Instead of making us leave with grumbling tummies to search for an ATM they just let us enjoy our donuts free of charge. Customer service like that (coupled with the deliciousness of the donuts we enjoyed later) is the reason I plan to go back to buskens anytime I just can't go another minute without a donut

Excellent selection of donuts and wonderful staff. Plus the smiley cookies are the best around!

Everyone loves Busken's signature yellow smiley faced cookies, but for me they are not the best baked good in the Busken bunch. I can't go to this bakery without grabbing one of their coffee cakes, in particular the cheese pocket variety. The pastry is light and buttery, wrapping around generous dollops of cream cheese filling, and then covered in a sugary sweet glaze. Each bite is so rich and decadent--bring this treat to work or family get-together for instant accolades. My next favorite item from Busken is the glazed yeast donuts. Airy and sweet, these delights are designed for the Homer Simpson in all of us. My advice is to buy these early or you might be out of luck should a mid-afternoon craving strike. I love that Busken lists their baking schedule right on their website, so patrons know when their favorite goods will be freshly baked.

Flourpower 24-hours and 7 days a week! The staff is always wonderfully friendly too! This bakery is perfect for an early morning visit or a late night sweet tooth fix. There is out door seating adjacent to the rather large parking lot, and barstool seating along the front window for those wishing to eat inside to soak up the wonderful bakery aroma. I love the creative twists on decorations for other wise classic sweets like sugar cookies and cakes. Their smiley face cookies are what I like to think of as their signature item. Simply put, their cookie decorations are best in town. They know how to embrace a good theme. Bagels, coffee, and a variety of juices and drinks are available as well. This Busken also has a cake town attached for specific orders.

Brownies are great But you need milk! also if yougot a sweet tooth stop in anytime 24 hours.... yum yum

  • Darielle G.

This place makes me excited typing about it!! The pastries and cakes here are to die for!! The sugary perfection that makes my world go round is available 24 hours a day, which helps cure the 3AM sweet tooth or the 11PM mom... I need cupcakes for school tomorrow bug. On Sunday mornings you can watch the pastry chef in action, which is quite entertaining! The major selling point is that the amazing sweets are A. Amazingly delicious B. Affordable and reasonable with no pretentious aftertaste(yes i'm talking to you bon bonerie!) and C. Locally owned!! Who can feel guilty after that?!?

    (5)
  • Linda A.

Locally owned, locally baked yummies. And everything I've tried is just DELICIOUS! What else can I say?

when you have a middle of the night hankering for a pastry....this is the place to go! I love this place and the donuts are always fresh!

I love this place! Hands down it is great all around. I order all birthday and special occasion cakes from here. The customer service is always great. One night my sister and I went around 1am and the employee was so cheerful and spunky. He was energetic and walking us though all the the freshly baked doughnuts that had just come out. I have never had anything bad from here. The breads are so good for my Sunday dinners. When you are 7 months pregnant and craving a warm doughnut this place also comes in handy. My husband will actually go out and get me my favorite glaze doughnut lol. Anyway, if you want to try top quality sweets...go Busken!

  • Sharon F.

So I've been to quite a few bakeries in my day but Busken's is definitely the best all around. I agree with the other reviewers in saying that their signature sugar cookies while tasty, are not actually the stars of this 24-hour haven. I used to drive through Cincinnati once every couple months for work and made it a point to stop and get something. I've tried every type of baked good they make except their bread. Donuts, cookies, coffee cake, pie, muffins... And don't forget their coffee! I love them all but my favorite is their individual-sized sweet potato pie. Anyhoo, I live back in California now but will make it a point to go back to Busken on my next visit to the Nati =)

    (5)
  • Courtney S.

the BEST cakes I have ever tasted. I love the yellow cake with vanilla frosting- so moist, even days later! The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is because they don't always have cake slices, it is random.

  • Alexandra K.

Busken's Bakery is such a childhood memory for me. I grew up in Walnut Hills so this location, which is also their central bakery and distribution center, was where my parents would bring me as a little girl for donuts or treats. It's a giant building in order to house their bakery and then the storefront itself is huge! To the right of the front door is a little room that is entirely devoted to cakes! Most of the display cakes are wedding cakes and they are all gorgeous. Then behind the counter you can see all the breads, bagels, donuts, and pastries they have for sale. They also have juices, coffee, and soda for sale. The parking lot is huge and there are two entrances. One is off Madison Road and the other is off Edwards Road.

This place is the perfect quick breakfast stop, or midnight snack :)

  • Jennifer H.

Poor Busken's. For some reason, their name isn't quite as synonomous with Cincinnati cuisine in the same way that Skyline, Graeter's or LaRosa's all are. And that is insane, because Busken's is one of the best bakeries I've ever experienced in the world, much less the greater Cincinnati area. The smily face cookies are classic and the birthday cakes are perfect. Plus, these are probably the best donuts I've ever had. This place would make Dr. Atkins cry and with good reason. No trip to Cincinnati is complete without a stop at Busken's. It's a necessity on the Cincinnati Food Tour!

  • Angela H.

I'll probably be disowned by my city for saying this, but, Busken's sugar cookies (while good) are not the bakery's most delicious option. I made a run to Kroger in Hyde Park a few weeks back to pick up a few things for my roommate's birthday party and (stupid me) somehow managed to forgot to pick up cake-baking supplies. I realized the error as soon as I turned my car onto Madison Avenue because the overwhelmingly sweet smell of fresh-baked donuts from the Busken on the corner wafted through my open windows. I didn't hesitate for long, I turned into Busken, hoping a store-bought cake could substitute for home-made. For once the location wasn't busy (word to the wise, never visit between 3 and 4:30pm on weekdays, all of the local schools are out and Busken seems to be the destination of every car-pool on the road) so I was able to walk right in and select a cake. I picked a small marbled (yellow and chocolate) cake covered in smooth white fondant and then dribbled with rich fudge. I was pleasantly surprised at the low price, $8.00, as the cake looked pretty designer. I got it home and we cut into a flavorful cake that stayed moist for the three days it took us to finish it. Next time you stop at Busken grab a cake instead of a box of cookies, you won't be disappointed!

I don't go often but when I do I get great service. I have fun picking out my pastries and the bakers are so nice and helpful. The maple bacon donut is awesome!

  • Cathy R.

I found the 24 hr Busken that fellow yelper Angela B told me about! This could be dangerous; good thing it's far from my home! Wow! I had no idea what a selection of muffins, pastries and cookies they had! Even several muffin options that are fat-free. I left with exactly what I came for: a couple of peanut butter cookies for my husband and just three tiny tea cookies for me. But that took a lot of willpower! The total cost: less than $2. Wow, again!

    (5)
  • Becca E.

Is it wrong to say that I love this place because the cookies are the perfect bribe to get my brother to do things? I also like the donut varieties there, better than what you can get at Kroger. My favorite is the blueberry cake donuts. There are better places to get better desserts but for cookies and donuts, it is quality. It is open 24 hours which means at 11:30pm when I am craving strawberry milk and cupcakes, I know where to go! A heads up, when it gets busy it can get a little crazy, sometimes they use numbers and sometimes it is who is closest to the counter when someone frees up.

I think Busken's is just o.k. It is a high volume bakery that does a couple of things o.k. but in my opinion is not in the same category as Frieda's , Bonbonerie, Servatii's, and Shadeau Breads. It is not a bad place. I would choose it over shelf items at a grocery store. It is just far from spectacular.

  • Danny G.

Open 24 hours. Which is good if you need that late night fat attack. Ok lets cut to the chase. I wanna break into this place. Crawl into the vent and die. I want the smell of dhem cookies to consume my body and make me one with the stars. I want my remains to be found 5 years from now. My skeleton hands clinching hard onto a bag of donut dust. My Soul forever will be guiding customers to those ice drop cookies. My voice will beckon you to the pudding filled donuts. My husk and remains a reminder of the frailty of life and the quest for completion. Praise OHIR. King of the mountain. Fire in the Sun. Son of the Sky.

When I think of the quintessential bakery, I think of Busken. If I were living in NYC, or more specifically, if I was Elaine from Seinfeld, I like to think that I would be a regular at a Busken-esque spot. The Busken I stop at is dangerously/conveniently on my way to work. My go-to order is an ABC muffin and a large black coffee. For only $3.75, that's cheaper than a drink at Starbucks. Win win win!

This location can be a hit or miss depending on when you go. Growing up in Hyde Park we often bartered going to church without whining in exchange for a trip to Busken afterward! The donuts here are good, though I wish the chocolate iced ones were completely glazed first, like Krispey Kremes. However, I'm a waitress in Rookwood and sometimes don't get off until 2-3 in the morning so I'll stop in and they'll give me a dozen half price! Also the iced cookies are magnificent, there's really nothing like them. They are a special cookie and the fact that they make them in seasonal shapes and decorations makes me so happy. My only complaint (besides the chocolate donut debacle) is that sometimes the service sucks. I get it, working weird hours is the worst, but you should smile and greet customers politely! I can't tell you how many times I've walked in and they just stare at me waiting for me to say something! It's very odd. If you love donuts and sweets there's no way you won't love this Busken. I highly recommend it. Honestly I wish I could go every day, if my wallet and waistline could afford it.

Here is where you will get the best glazed donuts from a local chain bakery. I don't eat the donuts often because I'm always on a diet, but they are good. It's nice that this place open 24 hours. The coffee is okay. Like really, the reason to go here is glazed yeast donuts. The other things at Busken are just okay.

Calling all stoners, pregnant ladies, late night munchers, and general fans of stuffing your face with delicious baked goods -- this location is open 24 HOURS! We have been wanting to come here forever and yesterday, we just couldn't take it anymore. You know those cartoon smell lines? Well they finally got us. When you drive by this location all you smell is glaze. And it smells MAGICAL! Enter and it's really not all that different from any other location. A large cookie area where you can purchase their famous iced cookies, a bread/baked good section, a java counter and finally a donut case. These were some of the freshest donuts I have ever had. They come out at 3:00 in the morning and 3pm in the afternoon. So if you are looking to catch them fresh there's a tip ;) We got there about an hour after they were just out of the over. The glistening glaze stared at us from behind the counter like a 14ct. engagement ring whispering "EAT ME." We ordered up two glazed, one jelly filled and one cinnamon roll for good measure. To be honest, I was not fond of the Busken donut. I felt like it was flat and kind of airy. I actually prefer a puffier, denser donut (that shall not be named) but for those of you that like donuts, there was a great selection and they were very fresh. Other than the texture of the donuts here, I really do enjoy their iced cookies and the schnecken is TO DIE FOR. Definitely worth checking out!

Great pastries. Staff are helpful. Lots of parking. Great selection and price. I wanna say they are open 24hrs a day too.

Good donuts, terrible service. Five employees behind the counter, yet only one filling orders with a huge line. Not really sure what they were doing as they didn't appear to be doing much of anything. Service aside, the donuts were good and the kettle danish was great. Just don't go when you are in a rush. :)

I just moved to this area and stopped by for an after dinner snack. I'm not sure if the girl working (with the long curly brunette hair) had just caught her period or what but she provided us with HORRIBLE customer service. Rushing our order, I asked her to name the different donuts they had available (because the other guy working was standing in front of the other row) and with an attitude she named 1/4 of the selection available, then rolled her eyes when I asked her to list the rest. As for quality the donuts here are sub par, no better than the gas station selection. We won't be bringing our business back here.

Finally tried the much talked-about Pumpkin Pie. It was nice. The crust was not crunchy, but I am not an expert on pies, so perhaps it was the way it was supposed to be (I would much rather have it crunchy). When I got there some happy Mom-To-Be was picking up treats for her Baby Shower and I saw some cupcakes with blue shoes and a huge creamy cake. It all looked interesting. I am not a fan of artificially coloured food and tons of whipped cream and glaze, so it is not the best bakery for me, but it deserved a strong 'OK' :)

I was in town for Charlotte for my nephews graduation and he brought some pastries from Busken and they were really great. We went as a group to get some, picked up some more for the family, and enjoyed the night eating pastries with milk.

The service we received here was absolutely terrible. Ebony, who our receipt said checked us out had one of the worst attitudes and personalities. She was extremely rude when we asked her to simply put the tea cookies in a box and got very loud. We really enjoy the bakery items that Buskens provides but they need to really work on improving customer service! Also, they have no public restrooms??? If you have an area to sit down and eat at in your place of business you should have a public restroom. Just my personal opinion though.....

Cincinnati Tradition Busken Bakery right in the heart of the Hydepoakelywood (Hyde Park, Oakley and Norwood) intersection at Madison and Edwards. You can stop in day or night, they're open 24 hours for your sugar fix - freshly made donuts, cookies and cakes. Always great when you're in a bind and find out co-worker's birthday is that day, you can run in pick out a fresh cake and they personalize it right in front of you thats service.

We run in here often to pick up a snack or a loaf of bread for dinner- they sometimes run out of bread, but I love having a "neighborhood" bakery for needs like those!

Buskens is well known in Cincinnati, and I would highly recommend!! What actually drew me to this bakery was driving through Hyde Park smelling the wonderful smell of donuts. I actually passed the bakery and then had to turn around. It smelled that good! When I walk into the bakery even at 9:30/10 o'clock at night, The selection of donuts, cookies, and muffins was plentiful. I was in the mood for fresh pastries, and Buskens did not disappoint. I had had their donuts in the past, but this time, I decided to check out their muffins. I was thoroughly surprised. I tried the cinnamon streusel muffin, and it was delicious! Whether I wanted something fresh or packaged to go, this bakery was a great stop in my evening. In fact, how does anyone live in Hyde Park and get anything done with the smell of donuts 24/7?! I would highly recommend this bakery.

Too many review to add anything else of note. Wonderful bakery that nails it. Everything is delicious here. Being open 24 hours a day is a huge convenience, too.

A 24-hr bakery? Yes please! Not every item they sell is crave-worthy, but I find that their pies and muffins are always delicious! One of the best things about Busken is that you can count on freshness. This specific location has a nice little seating area at the far end of the parking lot. When the weather is nice, it's a good spot to enjoy some breakfast or mid-afternoon snack.

I'm not a huge pastry person but it seems Busken emits the delicious aroma of baked goods for about 1/2 a mile in all directions and this sometimes lures me in. Busken had an outstanding schnecken. They use the recepie from Virginia Bakery which has since closed. Their cookies are also oddly addictive. If you have never tried them, they don't look super special (although they are usually happy, smiling faces) but they are delicious. Service is decent and other pastries are ok.

Okay, I will admit it. I went to two donut shops in one day. This morning I hit Holtmans when I was leaving downtown Cincinnati and this afternoon on my way back from Dayton, I stopped at Busken Bakery. You don't find many full-service bakeries that make cakes and cookies as well as donuts. And the donuts aren't just an after thought. They have a great selection of donuts and from their inventory of glazed yeast donuts, they must be the favorites among the locals. I ordered two glazed and wasn't disappointed. I think the glazed donuts out-shined Hotlman's, but both were very good. I'll bet these donuts are great at 5:00 a.m. Love a 24-hour bakery!

People either love Busken or they don't. They either grew up on the Busken cake--or they didn't. I didn't grow up here, but I'm a huge fan of Busken because of their phenomenal customer service. Let me tell you a story. One night after a work event/dinner I was craving cheesecake as if I were pregnant and my life depended on cheesecake. I didn't feel like navigating the aisles of Kroger and nowhere else was open except the almighty Busken. So I walked in, and of course, no cheesecake in sight. I asked the gentleman behind the counter if they had any cheesecake-esque desserts, and he pointed at a cheese cup type-thing. Sure, I'll get that and a donut (no judging, please). Another customer standing nearby who overheard our conversation mentioned casually "Oh those brownies got some cheese in them." The man behind the counter nodded, "Oh yeah, they do." I didn't look twice at the brownies, checked the time on my cell phone, paid and left. When I got home and opened the bag, out came a cheese cup, donut, AND brownie. Magical. The kindness of strangers. I didn't ask for the brownie (and definitely didn't need the extra sugar), but throwing in a free treat wordlessly was just so nice. This is one neighborhood bakery I can fully support for their outstanding service, even if I'm not crazy about the signature cookies. Busken, you deserve mad brownie points!

We ordered a sampling of things based on the Yelp reviews and were disappointed. Quality reminded me of a grocery store bakery - nothing special.
