I love their chaats. It's the best Indian chaats I have had in Ohio. They have great selection of Indian sweets as well and some good curries. I can't afford to miss visiting brij Mohan every time when I'm in cincy. The weekend crowd can be overwhelming and chaos. I would recommend to takeout during weekend. Advice for management: please take care of your restrooms

Great food and love the spice levels, but they messed up a lunch order for my friend and rather than offer to bring the correct dish, said "Well, that's a good one too. You'll like it.". OK. Other than that experience, everything I've had here is delicious and the naan is hot and fresh. I recommend any of their saag dishes and the navratan korma is excellent.

Hands down the best vegetarian Indian chaat place I have been to in the US. Lovely selection of authentic indian sweets, rasmalai at 3.75/2 is a steal. Consistent taste in the food - after visiting it many, many times, the taste has not changed, a great positive for an Indian restaurant. Mirchi bajji is not authentic as it is made with jalapenos but the bite of chilly spice is quite real. Love the thick dahi drowned recipes in -dahi puri and dahi vada. Samosa chaat is killer. Tea is good. and you can have all these for less than 15$. Good food for the buck and the management greets well. Pay first, self service. Little wait time on weekends and are closed Mondays. I have heard some negative comments, but on a busy day, it is better to decide your order beforehand and not block others while you wonder(sure to receive some dark stares) and the staff may be curt. Entree portions are a little small but they never upset my stomach unlike other places. Clean ambiance and good seating. They sell a lot of indian munchies for take-home. Packaging on take home food is great. Food is not very oily.

Delicious food. Best tasting Indian food. Whenever we visit Cincinnati we make sure to eat here. Staff is very unfriendly. They never welcome or greet you. They just dump food on the table without a word. So go there just for good tasting food. Don't expect any greetings :)

Still by far the best vegetarian idian options in cincy. I have tried everything on the lunch special menu all of the breads most the desserts and a few of the regular menu items. All are amazing. I was skeptical about trying an all vegetarian place but I don't miss the meat at all. The amazing curries and sauces make up for everything. This is a true hidden gem and would not of tried if it were not for yelp! The only negative thing would be the ice cream was actually not very good. It seemed freezer burnt with all of thr ice crystals and I would not recommend. But everything else makes up for this fault. If you have not tried and like idian I suggest you get here fast. The lunch special is great, 5.99 for a plate rice and bread. You will be full and if not sample one of the many desserts. They are very sweet but to be expected. ...

Definitely one of the most authentic Indian restaurants in Cincinnati. You know it's good when you don't see any non-Indians in the restaurant. I was very skeptical since it's vegetarian, but I did not miss the meat at all. The curry is fantastic and the nan is the best in the city! Their curries are very well balanced and they leave you with a smooth mouth-feel. The Nans are light, slightly crispy and not overly chewy. The dessert bar is awesome. So many varieties and all are very good. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Indian food. Very reasonable prices, especially their lunch special. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Tl;dr order and pay before sitting down. Spicy scale 1-6 all the food is delectable! In case you want to know how to pronounce some of these dishes, click here huffingtonpost.ca/2014/1… I've also posted some photos of translations for common Indian words used on menus! Now onto the review: WOW THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. You should know there are 2 main types of Indian cuisine. Northern and southern. Brij is northern, and what we see most of the time, saucy curries, flatbreads, and rice. Southern Indian cuisine is something I'll educate you about on my future review of Udupi cafe (dosas, thalis, iddlis oh my!). About 80% of patrons were Indian, and the workers did not speak English without heavy accent, so I knew authentic was the name of the game here! Also it is 100% vegetarian, if not vegan. India has a large vegetarian population, and I can see why most patrons would only trust a restaurant like this to provide completely animal free food. But don't let the vegetarian thing scare you! This food is not health food. It also isn't any less flavorful or filling than a steak dinner! It was simply delicious. On a Thursday night, in the middle of nowhere of sharonville, this place was pretty hoppin! And for everything being served on paper plates the interior is much nicer than you'd expect! Full booths and nice chairs! You order at the counter first, pay, and then sit down and wait for your food to arrive at your table. We decided on the dahi poori (at other restaurants spelled puri) to start. I didn't expect this dish to be cold, but it was delicious: Dahi= yogurt and poori=fried cracker shell 6 little shells were filled with cold potato, masala spice, raisins, and then doused in 3 sauces, yogurt (dahi), mint, and tamarind. The dish was gorgeous and SO flavorful! Next course: choley bhaturi Choley= chickpeas bhaturi= fry bread The hot chickpeas and curry sauce were so filling and flavorful! I loved tearing off pieces of steaming fry bread and forming little chickpea pockets out of them! The curry flavor was so rich I even used dahi sauce from our appetizer to cool it down and sweeten it a bit! Next dish: aloo saag Aloo= potato saag=spinach Rich curry flavor as well and so good! The rice on the side was fragrant and yummy. Malai Kofta: A rich buttery sauce with floating veggie dumplings (the kofta). YUM YUM Garlic Naan: not too garlic-y and perfectly cooked. Samosa Chaat: So Chaat just means snack. The samosa are all hot and deepfried hot pocket like entities that contain potato and peas. This samosa chaat is a semi smooshed samosa topped with tomatoes, mint chutney, and chickpeas with sauce. It was good! I also got it to go, so it might of been more soggy than if I got it dining in. The clerk told me that all Dahi Chaat (snacks with yogurt) are served cold, including the special chaat! Dessert: was my least favorite even though this is brij's specialty! There's still room to grow! I've just never eaten Indian dessert before. The cakes are doused in syrup (not to my liking) and most have fresh cheese (also not my cup of tea). I've tried the rasmalai- spongey cottage cheese served in a cold soup of sweetened cardamom flavored milk. The peda has, you guessed it, cheese, mixed with sugar and cardamom again. I wasn't a huge fan of either. I'll be looking forward to cakes next!

I don't squee often, but squee! This place is awesome! A fully vegetarian restaurant, with dozens of desserts, and it's a great deal? This is verified "Kate-nip." My friend and I drove by recently for lunch, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The woman who took our order was friendly and guided us through the process, the food came out quickly and was hot, the portions were enough to keep us full but not stuffed, and everything was delicious. The food was a bit less creamy than the typical Cincinnati fare, but I think that is due to the Indian region associated with this restaurant (I'm sorry I can't remember the exact location). Regardless, the lack of creaminess did not translate to a lack of flavor. For dessert, I asked the woman behind the counter to choose four of her favorites, and largely, I was not disappointed. When she mentioned that one of the desserts tasted like caramel cheesecake, she was right! One of the four kind of reminded me of dried edamame and I did not really like it, but 3/4 is not bad at all. It's a bit out of the way if you live in downtown, but you could absolutely make a day of it-visit Sharon Woods (just around the corner) and then enjoy a delicious lunch at Brij Mohan for a reasonable price.

Came in for lunch and it was fantastic. The price was amazing and so was the food. I got the Chana Saag and garlic naan and I was very impressed. The naan was a bit crispy but was good nonetheless and my friend is a vegetarian and was able to get almost anything she wanted. We came around opening and it quickly became busy. You order at the counter which speeds up get back to work which I really enjoyed. I will be back for lunch more often now that I know there is a good Indian restaurant near my work!

This is the best Indian restaurant i have ever eaten at. After reading all the yelp reviews I was skeptical of how great it would be. No meat is no problem here! Will definitely become a regular. Dahi Vada is fantastic!!

Wonderful food. We always get carryout, and I can place my order and drive from work to here on my way home to pick it up (about 10 minutes away) and 9x out of 10 it is always waiting for me. Their onion naan is exceptionally wonderful, and it is all prepared fresh. I am a creature of habit so I usually get the Aloo Saag, but I have tried the Aloo Choley and Chana Saag and enjoyed all of them. I wish I had discovered this place when I was a vegetarian, because I probably would've eaten so much better than I did. Staff is friendly also.

Awesome food here! I tried the Samosa Chaat which is delicious, I loved how the Sambosa is hot and some of the toppings were cold. I also tried some Mutter Paneer (yum) and Naan bread. My husband and I tried one of their sweets, I wish I could remember the name but I have a picture of it. After trying it we went back and ordered a pound of it to take home. I can't wait to eat here again!

Yelp app saves the day. It was cold and I wanted something warming that wasn't chili, this was the perfect answer. Would eat here every day if they weren't so keen on wasting large amounts of styrofoam. We walked up to the cashier to order and decided we just wanted some apps at first. Once I walked to the table to take a better look at the menu I noticed a flyer telling you how to order. They prefer if you order all at once apparently, woops. My counterpart was somewhat more knowledgeable than me in Indian food, so I let him do the ordering. I was also pretty tired and everything sounded awesome, so I figured we couldn't go wrong. Everything was great. There was some green stuff that was perfect once cut with a little yogurt and eaten with garlic naan. There was some type of red'ish curry that was buttery and delicious, and there was some other mixed veggie thing that was friggin amazing. I know that sounds rather vague, but I really have no clue what I was eating. The lunch special sounded like a ridiculously good deal, I wish I would have had time to do that instead of getting shafted on lunch at Zoup on the other side of town. I forgot to elaborate on the waste. I am environmentally conscious and it bothers me to see unneeded waste, but I rarely mention it. This place goes over the top. Everything comes on its own paper plates, they only have plasticware, and then your plate and your to go boxes are all styrofoam. Even the drink cups are plastic. Major turnoff to an otherwise great meal.

Having heard a number of great things about this vegetarian North Indian restaurant, I finally had the opportunity to try it since I was in the area (which doesn't happen often). Brij Mohan's "vegetarian" categorization didn't faze me, as I eat paneer (cheese) dishes anyway. I was more concerned for my dinnermate, though, as he typically eats chicken dishes. All concerns were expunged when I got a text message the following day reading, "Just had [Brij Mohan leftovers for] lunch. That place was realllllly good." We both agreed the naan was exceptional, too. I cannot wait to go back to try more from the menu (especially the apps and sweets). Brij Mohan is absolutely a new favorite.

It's been a long time since I've had Indian cuisine. This place is deserving of all the praise on Yelp which is the reason I decided to stop here today for lunch. The good news is I can come back often and I'm bringing others next time because it's only 5 minutes from my office. The lunch special can't be beat in this area for the price. I had a great authentic Indian meal consisting of tofu curry, garlic naan, and an onion salad. Dipping the garlic naan into the leftover curry sauce almost had me going back for a second helping. So GOOD! I really enjoyed it and will be a weekly visitor from here on out.

I was really disappointed with this restaurant. They do not seem to have real dishes - they use disposable everything. The food (I had the saag) was just... not good. I took most of it home & just tossed it in the trash.

I must confess, I use to hate Indian food ALOT. Because it never look pleasant to me. Most of the dishes I seen are vegetables drowned with colorful sauce and usually very spicy. I almost never felt good afterwards because of that. Brijmohan changed that for me. Unlike other restaurants, they will respect ur request for mild spicy. Other restaurants will to a certain degree, but I felt like they have super high expectation. So when u ask for mild, instead of 5 teaspoons of hot sauce u get 3. If u ask for anything less, they probably think that you're a weaksuace and kick u out. Sighhhh Anyways, I went there for lunch after multiple recommendations from friends and coworkers. And I was super impress. It felt like fast food, because usually they complete ur order within minutes. For 5 bucks (during lunch) u get a nann bread, ur dish, rice, and pickled carrots with onions. The pickled carrot look spicy so I never try that, but I love their garlic nann it is very very fresh. For the main dish u can choose from a list of about 15 items. I think I have tried all of them by now, they all taste really good. The only one I didn't like was the spinach one, primarily because it look like poop.

I have had a serious craving for Indian food for a couple of months now. The problem is, I don't know much about it. I have only had it a few times, but those sweet and savory spices just make my mouth water. YUM!! The few times that I was fortunate to eat this delicious cuisine, was at some type of buffet that listed descriptions for each thing. Silly me, had I read the reviews prior to my visit I would have known that this place DOES NOT! I walked in there bewildered, because only a few things sounded familiar...no pictures or descriptions, but I quickly overcame feeling self conscious once I smelled the delicious food that I was going to cram in my face hole soon enough. When I got in line I noticed the desserts in the glass case. I have no idea what any of them are, but they really looked amazing, and next time I go I must save room for something so I can tell you about it too! Thankfully they had a lunch special, so that was my go to of choice. For only $4.99 you get an entrée, rice, choice of bread and an onion salad. I went with the tofu curry, rice and naan. You can also choose how spicy you'd like your meal to be, and I went with the "Holy crap, I'm a wuss, please make it as weak as possible option." (Mild) She asked me where I'd like to sit, so I chose table 13 (my lucky number) and got comfortable for my wait. They took my drink over to my table for me, and my food came out pretty quickly. It smelled AHHHH-MAZING, and tasted that way too. I seriously got lucky with my choice, but I honestly don't know if there is anything here that I wouldn't have enjoyed. I mixed all of my food together, and the tofu reminded me of meatballs due to their texture and consistency. The spice was kickin, and even though it was mild, my nose was still running!! I told you I'm a wuss!! The taste was just heavenly, and I'm sure my smile was beaming. Everything here is vegetarian too, and I have been looking for more go to veggie options. I think I may have found my fave. If you are looking for an adventure and you are not familiar with the menu, then have a little food roulette like myself. You may just find your new favorite place too. Pay attention when you are driving by, it's in a strip mall and I nearly blew right past it!

Brij Mohan is my #3 Indian joint in Cincinnati. Located in a quiet strip mall in Sharonville, they produce excellent Indian sweets and pretty average curries. The setting is very quaint and no-frills. The service is friendly and always encouraging to try new things by providing recommendations. The curries are, as I said, average. That's not why you go to Brij Mohan though. You go for the chaat. The Special Chaat and Papri Chaat are outstanding, and blend sweet, spicy, bitter, and a ton of flavors you have likely never encountered before if you're not familiar with chaat. Beating Udupi Cafe to the north's chaat by a mile, these guys corner the market on Indian sweets.

I live in the northern Cincy burbs and I work in the city. Indian spots in the city are plentiful and I def have my favs (Deep India, Krishna, Ambar). I've been meaning to check this place out for a while since they are much closer to my house. I decided to order carry-out on a Thursday afternoon...an hour prior to their first closing (2:30pm). Immediately upon arrival I was greeted by a nice lady behind the counter and offered a menu. I already knew what I wanted, Saag Paneer, so she put the menu right back. But those damn desserts were staring me in the face...so I couldn't resist. Homegirl gave me a rundown of the treats since I've never had Indian desserts. She packaged a few for me to take...I ate most of them on the way home. Bcuz again, they were just staring at me. A few were delish, others weren't anything to brag about. Saag Paneer was very good. I got my normal 3 spice (1-6 level) and should have gotten a 4. Naan was very tasty but smaller than what I get at a few of my fav spots. They do have some decent priced lunch specials but saag paneer was not one of them. Overall, great customer service. For take-out, I was there for approx 10mins so the wait wasn't long at all. Food was on point. Will def be back if I don't feel like driving 25miles to the city.

Great food! Awesome customer service. Was there for takeout entrées and was inquiring about the desserts in the case. They gave a few samples and we bought one of everything they sampled.

Best lunch deal ever! This place is only 5 dollars for lunch and you get an entree, garlic naan bread, rice and carrots/onions. Their Aloo Choley is delicious! All of the food I've had at Brij Mohan has been fantastic. We usually start out with the samosas which are filling and delicious. They come with red and green sauce - i always use the green sauce. This place is strictly vegetarian so you will not find any tandoori chicken here. Still worth the amazingly cheap 5 dollars for lunch! Come before the lunch rush at 12:00 or you will never get a seat.

I like eating at unique places, so when my children wanted to take me to Brij Mohan for Mother's Day, I was up for it. My experience with Indian food has only been at one restaurant and an Indian cooking class at The Learning Kitchen. Don't let the facade throw you off. It's in a strip mall that you could easily pass by many times and never even notice. I've done that very thing for years - it's near my workplace. Some might describe the outside as a little divey-looking. Upon entering, we were the only non-Indians there, which is a good recommendation in itself. Almost immediately someone behind the counter walked out to us and asked if we had been there before. After we said no, he hurriedly brought us all menus and told us that we could continue to stand in line to order or be seated and order. That just seemed to be such a nice gesture for newcomers. He even told us what some of the most popular items were. It made me laugh to think of him seeing us walking in - it must've been reminiscent of those "what item does not belong" problem-solving exercises. I ordered Saag Paneer and everyone ordered something different so we could all share. The food was delicious! Oh my goodness, the garlic naan was yummy for my tummy! The wait staff was all very friendly and accommodating. At the end of the meal, they even brought over a free small bowl of dessert for me which looked like something baked in the shape of a small round ball soaked in honey along with the sentiment of Happy Mother's Day. Now that was a sweet ending (pun intended) to our meal. It's a definite do-over!

  • Chandri V.

Food is ever so good, unfortunately the service is terrible and keeps going down by the day. Everyone except the friendly owner lady is rude over the phone. One Saturday I had to call thrice to place a carry out order because the person at the other end of the line kept answering the phone and putting me on hold within seconds. Any questions about the menu are answered brusquely. Sadly, given that they are one of the best restaurants around town, this service is not going to stop be from eating here, but it is serious cause for disappointment.

This review is strictly for the Food. 3 stars for the taste. Nothing awesome to ride home about. Its strictly okay. Common sauces are used for all the curries and almost everything tastes the same.

This family-friendly, cafateria-style vegetarian restaurant is great. You go in, you get a table, you go to the counter to order and pay. Then a few minutes later somebody brings something truly excellent to your table. Everything's on disposable dinnerware, and you buss your own table. But who cares? The food is cheap and wonderful. I got a saag paneer and a chaat, and I was delighted with both. The flavors were full and complex, and they didn't adulterate the food with cream, like some other places. I was also impressed to see so many vegan options available.

Addicted to this place. Must try: Samosa chat, ras malai, chhole bhature, naan (any kind). A star less coz the lady at counter taking order/accepting payments is sometimes very grumpy and emotionless.

Terrible service with good food. Unfortunately this is one of the few restaurants that serve good indian food but like any other indian restaurant, service sucks. The tip was collected even before you get to see the service. In fact you pay upfront for what you want to order and they deliver to your table, but its your job to clean up. Have been to this place several times, every time the service has been slow with "whatever" service.

Excellent food. Great atmosphere. I love Ambar India in Cincinnati too and this is just as good if not better. The saag paneer and non bread is delicious. It is an all vegetarian restaurant though. The mango lasse I had was really good too. I don't like all the paper plates and Styrofoam they use there though, very wasteful, and not very eye pleasing. Great food nonetheless though. Good luck finding a parking spot! The line didn't stop the whole time I was there.

You know a place is awesome when every person on the yelp review list raves about the balance of spices, irrespective of their ethnicity!! Indian places can do that, a sad reality, they suffer to find a balance between aromatic, savory, delicious spices and mild creamier taste that non-Indians are used to. But this place has nailed it!! They have no inhibitions in adding bold flavors to all their dishes. They have not left their roots and make food just like you would have it on the streets of India or how moms would make it. The staff is very friendly. Some places tend to lose the quality of food, taste and service as they grow old or if they have a huge crowd waiting to get served, but not our dear old BM :) I have been going to this place for 8 years, and I have failed to find an Indian restaurant to match their taste. I recently moved out of Cincinnati, and what I miss the most is (sorry friends), Brij Mohan :/

The first thing I noticed when I walked into this restaurant was that 90% of the other customers were Indian, which is always a good sign when you're going to an indian restaurant! Just so everyone knows, this place is vegetarian but the food is still really good! Their menu is a bit hard to order off of if you dont know the language but the place seems family owned and the lady who's always at the cash register is really nice and helpful. The restaurant seems family owned, it's clean, not fancy, and every time I eat here I feel like I'm eating in someone's living room. If you like the creamy tomato-ey type curry like tikka masala, get the curry kofta! The curry itself has a similar tomato base and it comes with little balls that look like meatballs. I'm not sure what its made of, my best guess is that its some sort of bean substance but it honestly has the texture of soft meat. Also, a cool thing about this place is that you can try Indian deserts! They are REALLY sweet and I'm guessing it's like that because a lot of Indian food can be really spicy.

I had my first experience with BM years back, the place was really small -4 tables. The attendant at the counter was hostile and rude, and we only had super sweet pastries . After all the positive reviews I went back. First the place is bigger now, second the young attendants are by far better mannered, friendly and attentive. Still the same hostile persona was behind the register ;) This time dinner food was very good, not excellent but you can feel food is like prepared at home; other restaurants have gone too far like Raja and lost the spice touch long time back. Unfortunately the place was too warm - and not well ventilated- but that did not diminissed the good food experience. Don't be afraid and give this place a try, if you like good food you will appreciate BM.

Excellent food & service however I probably will not return out of respect for the Indian people & their culture. This restaurant is clearly a gathering place for Indian people. The food was GREAT as was the service. The workers/servers were very polite.

  • Elaine W.

My office is nearby, so this is the go-to place for cheap, authentic Indian food. And strangely it's one of the few places that won't leave your clothes smelling like curry when you get back to the office. Lunch specials are a steal at $5 for a main dish, choice of naan, side of pickles, and rice. It may look like cafeteria food, delivered to your table in paper plates on a tray, but one bite of garlic naan dipped in saag paneer or whatever you order, and you'll know it's the real deal. As with all Indian food, don't be fooled by the seemingly manageable portions. You will be happily full by the time you clean the last bit off your plate. One of the best value lunches in the Sharonville/Blue Ash area.

something important to know: this whole restaurant is VEGETARIAN and lots of menu items can actually be vegan :) went here for the first time w/my family. we all really enjoyed the gulab jamuns. we also absolutely loved dahi vadai, got 3 orders one after the other lol. we went on a friday evening, place was packed so it did take awhile to get the food but it was ok. i normally love choley bhatura but here it had no flavor and was not good at all :( we didnt even finish it which is really saying something because my husband does NOT waste food. the rice and breads were all delicious and fresh. another thing that did really bother me is that the restaurant was FREEZING cold! like even while we were eating i had to keep my jacket on which is highly uncomfortable and ridiculous. they are using ovens and cooking for goodness sake, at least the dining area could somehow be warmed or "vented".. i dont know.

One of the things I love about Yelp is the ability to whip out my smartphone, and find, anywhere in the US or the UK a place that offers what I want. I typed in "Indian food" into the search, saw the 4.5 star rating, and was sold. My dining companion had never had Indian before so we sat down to look over the menus. After we decided I went up to the counter to order. Your order arrives 15-20 minutes later on paperboard plates with plastic utensils. Don't let the picnic set up fool you. The food is good. And if we hadn't been on our way to a friend's for dessert, we would have stayed for all the amazing sweets in the counter staring you in the face. By Indian for Indians. Which means you should enjoy getting a taste of the authentic here :-)

Recommended by the chef/instructor of an Indian cooking class that we took. It is vegetarian. You go in the restaurant and stand in line to order. They ask you what table you will sit at (which has a number on it) and bring the food to you. All food is served on paper plates - interesting - not very eco-friendly. Water is self-serve from dispensers. It was Sunday and they had a few specials. I ordered the chana dal with naan. Hubby got the saag paneer with naan. We also ordered some paneer (cheese) to take home for a recipe we intended to cook. Both hot dishes were delicious! We ordered regular spiciness (one above mild), and it was just right. And the naan was delish! I dinged one star because our table had not been wiped down. Also, when I went up to refill my water, the woman who worked there helped me (nice), but put her finger inside the lip of my cup :o( ugh. And the paper plates also contributed to the one less star.

I was blown away by Brij Mohan. First impressed with their beautiful bake case, filled with beautiful homemade tiny cheesecake treats and plenty of galub jamun (my absolute favorite! Warm, sweet, and delish). I was surprised to learn that this is one of the only restaurants from Chicago to New York that uses actual milk (as opposed to powdered) in their foods. Every plate that I saw was hand-crafted to a standard of perfection that was obviously something to be proud of. I had a delicious cold appetizer, Dahi Poori and was so glad that one of the owners, Shivali, was kind enough to explain and answer any questions about the food. The one downfall was the use of paper/disposable dishes. BUT think that once word gets out that Brij Mohan is the best Indian food in the tri-state there will be so much revenue that they will have the means to purchase dishes and a dishwasher. :) Go, go, go! I highly recommend making the trip.

While driving on a road trip we decided to stop for Indian and picked Brij Mohan, and I'm glad we did! The food was out of this world delicious. I am usually not a fan of vegetarian places, but dining here I did not miss having any meat. The food is so flavorful and the textures are so great you won't even realize there isn't meat in there. Don't miss out on the garlic naan, some of the best ever.

One of the best Indian food, let alone Indian vegetarian food I've had outside of India. The 'mom and pop' feel- especially that it's run by an Indian auntyji- gives it a very authentic vibe. I've always visited with my non-Indian friends who now have become fans of Indian vegetarian food. Typically when we think of Indian food we hardly go beyond the butter chickens and the chicken tikka masalas. Brij Mohan however has none of those star sellers on their menu, but instead the menu lists typical food that you would expect to eat at any north Indian home. To top that, they also have a variety of Indian street foods and mithais to feast on, something that is hard to come by outside of North India. We visited the place about 5 times in the month and a half and there was never a time when our experience was short of wow. Just a word of caution- Be prepared for food comma that may follow the sinful indulgence ;)

Yum!!! Staff is friendly and very helpful with explaining the different dishes and the desserts. Everything is fresh and the spice levels are on the mark. We will return most definitely!!

Nicely done and clean. More of a home cooked meal, meaning not heavy on the oils/fats. Picking a spice level should be simplified to "arse-ripping, hot, warm, mild, nah". Ate here twice, so: rice very good, nans very good, sag-chole very good, mattar paneer good, puri very good, chole very good. Definitely a repeat. Rivals stuff you would get in NYC.

Everything is best here. The best Indian Vegetarian restaurant in Cincinnati. Food and the ambience have a "homely" feeling. You will love the food!

The food is six stars. The atmosphere is much less. The AC was out when we went there, so that didn't help. Coke in a can is never welcomed, but the food is oh so good. Tons of Indians there so that says everything.

One liner - Okay type Indian street food. Bhelpuri - okay Pani-puri - okay Kachori + AluDum - not so okay. Kachori was too cold and oily. Doesnot worth the price either. Baigan Bhurta (mashed - roasted eggplant curry) - Okay+ Bhindi (Okra) masala - Okay Rasmalai - Okay+, nice and delicate Service is not-ok Cleanliness is not-ok Interior not-ok

$5.99 lunch special- this place rocks! I've been here three times this week! Lunch special is plenty of food. First visit I had the rajma masala for lunch. Awesome. Second visit was the entree portion of daal makhani. Awesomer. Today, third visit, I had the saag choley. Awesomest! Next visit is the soy curry cause errybody says its really good. I couldn't imagine anything on the menu being less than awesome.

I've been excited to try Brij for awhile now. I visited India in 2006 and found that after i returned home American Indian restaurants just didn't compare, at least in the small Oregon town I come from (imagine that?!). Nothing I could necessarily put my finger on; just not as nuanced or savory. Since I moved to Cincinnati I've used Yelp to navigate the restaurant scene, excited for all the new culinary doings that go along with the city's renaissance. Brij Mahon is as yet under the radar, but it's great, great and as much as I (blond, blue-eyed, and freckled) can make this claim, authentic. I've had the dahi puri twice now, as well as some of the main courses. Appetizers like the puris are definitely the standout. My one complaint is that as someone with no requisite knowledge of what dahi puri is, I would have been lost navigating the menu without an Indian friend's recommendations. They could do a better job behind the counter of guiding us through the options.

Yum! Great selection and variety. A family atmosphere. This is a place that all the local Indian families go. You'll feel like you are transported to another country when you walk in. Don't be alarmed by the rather drab exterior as it is in a strip mall with a meager parking lot. This is for me, a place to get a la carte Indian street food in the form of chaat. They have so many great choices in sizes adequate for sharing and exploring. You order and then sit down. They'll bring the food as it is prepared. Keep in mind the good Indian Masala Chai will probably come towards the end of the meal because that's how fast the food arrives and how quickly you are compelled to consume it. Lot's of vegetarian options. One of the best Indian restaurants in town. They have a huge selection of interesting and tasty treats, so save room for dessert. They also have regular Indian meals you can buy and many people take home the treats by the pound.

Best Indian restaurant in cincy, hands down. I don't even care that it's vegetarian because it's so amazing. The owner is there all the time and always welcoming. Everything they have is delicious but the saag is my favorite.

Best vegetarian Indian restaurant in Cincinnati and maybe all of Ohio. This place is close to my mom's home cooking. This is weekly lunch meal under $8. The value is unparalleled. Great, tasty veggie food with naan and rice. To be honest, cannot go wrong with anything on the menu

  • Chris S.

Wow! This place is vegetarian, but I didnt even mind. Matter of fact, Id give up meat for more of this. We started with samosa chat. It was spicy hot, but also a bit sweet and fabulous. Then I had navratan korma. It was perfectly spiced, I ordered 2. Had a hint of sweetness and the naan was perfect. Its self serve - you order at the counter and then they bring it to you on styrofoam. We'll be back.

I've been wanting to eat here for a while, so when the opportunity arose to try it out...I jumped. I've now eaten here twice (about a week apart). Brij Mohan is in a little strip mall, so parking is tight; however, the interior of the restaurant is accommodating, so you should be able to find a seat. The wonderful thing about this place (besides their super tasty food) is the bargain price for their lunch specials. For $4.99 you get a decent portion of your dish with rice, a choice of bread, and an onion salad (a curious little mix of onions and carrots seasoned with Indian spices). Yes, you order at the counter. Yes, you get paper plates and plastic utensils, but for the price...I'm not complaining (I just hope they recycle.) I love that this place is all vegetarian; because of that, I am able to order anything on the menu with confidence. So far, I've tried the chana masala and aloo curry. Both were ordered at a regular spice level (#2) and both were pretty spicy. I found the curry to be a little hotter than the chana masal, but it could just have been the day. I'm also kind of a spice weenie, so ordering at a regular level is pretty adventurous for me...I usually stick to a 1. Everything is delicious, but being the carb lover I am, my favorite part is the garlic naan. You get a (to me) full-sized piece of hot, fresh naan that is some of the best I've had. I can't wait to go back and try every item on the lunch menu. Oh, and, I ordered a little square of some sweet the last time and it was good. Interesting flavor and texture (not really sure what it was), but I ate it. It kind of reminded me of a firm rice pudding. It was not too sweet, so nicely finished off my meal.

Absolutely one of the best indian restaurants in Cincinnati. Pros: 1) Everything was reasonably priced, and they have a $4.99 lunch special 2) The chat is delicious 3) Great staff and friendly service Cons: 1) Can't really think of anything... Definitely a great place for a quick lunch will return for sure

Cincinnati has a lot of choices when it comes to Indian food. Very rarely, though do you step into a place and continuously feel that you're in Mom's kitchen. Very rarely does a carnivore venture into a vegetarian restaurant to begin with, but for this guy, Brijmohan transcends both "Indian" and "vegetarian" categorizations. It is simply a jewel in the middle of our city. I had the Papdi Chaat on this occasion. Absolute artistry to all the senses. The lunch entrees at $4.99 are a steal and today I thought, why ever do fast food, when you can get better choices for less? A giant bakery case of a myriad of mysterious dessert choices - today I picked up Gulab Jamun the size and shape of roma tomatoes.

When it comes to international dining, Cincinnati generally trails pretty far behind the curve. But when it comes to Indian, we seem to have our fair share, even if the choices might seem a little interchangeable, especially when we're talking about the Ambar/Baba/Akash axis. Still, options like Brij Mohan offer hope for some culinary curveballs. As just about everybody else here says, the $4.99 lunch deal at the vegetarian Brij Mohan is almost impossible to beat: a vegetable entree, rice, an onion salad, and a manhole-cover-sized piece of fresh, piping hot naan. As as others say, the quality of the food is as high as just about any Indian place in town. (The naan is terrific.) For the most part, the lunch-special entrees themselves are not per se unusual; you'll see most of these veggies--spinach, lentils, chickpeas, potatoes, peas, etc.--in the same combinations on most Indian menus around town. But the chaat selections and sweets are a totally different matter. We're unfamiliar with this stuff, find it fascinating, and will have to explore it further on our own. The chaat we ordered, the dahi vada, was almost shockingly sweet but refreshingly cool on a ridiculous 102-degree day. For those who complain about the portion sizes being smaller than what you'd get at an Indian buffet elsewhere, your point is probably well-taken if you are accustomed to eating the same amount of food in a single sitting that the average Kolkata family eats in a week. But the $4.99 deal is a carb-bomb, and the average eater should be plenty satisfied. Plus, you can always pair your lunch with one of the delicious chaats for only three or four more dollars. The dining area is basic and comfortable, and I thought the service was warm and helpful. Definitely worth a trip from the city. P.S. When you walk in, don't be alarmed by the menu board behind the corner, which is just a long list of Indian dishes without explanations. There is a stack of menus on top of the counter. Grab one and look it over before you get in line to order. The menu offers accurate descriptions of everything Brij Mohan offers. P.P.S. Agree with others that all the paper and styrofoam is kind of a drag, but then I'm sure that's one of the things that's keeping the pricing down.

Brij Mohan is kind of a little known gem. I like this place more than the other 'renowned' Indian restaurants of Cincinnati. Many weekends, we come to Sharon woods park and then go to Brij Mohan for lunch or snacks. Its just a little ahead of the Park entrance. There are many things i like about Brij Mohan. 1. No pretension about their customer service. Genuine care for the customer. 2. The ambiance is not faux-exotic, it is like you step into the house in a normal Indian home. 3. Food from some Indian places has given me stomach problems - not here. 4. Sweets - probably the best in Cincinnati. Must have items are the various curries with paneer (cottage cheese). Their paneer is made in-house and is soft and full of the homemade goodness. Various 'chats' are just fabulous as an evening snack. Their tea always energizes me, and if you have a sweet tooth like me, you should try out the ras malai ( a milk,cream-based dessert) My wife loves the nan here, and also the chana- bhatura. Only thing i don't like (because i come from I-275 west) is the exit from the parking lot. The lot is right at the edge of a weird intersection and you can only turn right, into a one-way st into downtown sharonville from there.

A unique Indian eatery full of sweets, snacks and street food. While this place used to a be very tiny it is now boasts a large dining area with nice decor. It is not "fast food," but you need to order at the front rather than at your table and grab your own plasticware and water. To top it off there are always Indian music videos or cricket matches playing on the tv screens. It is pretty inexpensive, but you will inevitably find yourself ordering more than one thing. Even with its quirks, it is without a doubt one of the best places for Indian food in Cincinnati. I'd recommend a few items for your first visit: Chole Bhatura (a large fried bread with a chickpea curry) Special Chaat (my personal favorite) Besan & Boondi Ladoo (an Indian classic sweet made of chickpea flour) Kaju Katli (a diamond shaped sweet made of cashews) Main dishes are on par with other restaurants but the snacks and sweets are out of this world!

I've been meaning to try this place for a while, and when Dinastia Latina was unexpectedly slow, I hopped on a couple doors down to this place. OH MY, it was delicious. The best saag paneer I have ever had. The naan is amazing-- crispy on the outside, not too thick or thin, buttery, flavorful. The samosas were filling and delicious. There's a very affordable $4.99 lunch menu, but unfortunately we missed this deal. The staff was friendly, though some were more accommodating than others. It's very casual, where you order in the front, and you grab your own plastic silverware, plates, and water. I can't wait to go back for more!

I enjoyed dinner here with a friend, we were slightly confused by the setup but the women working there were helpful and friendly. I ordered the saag paneer and she ordered a vegetable curry, plus we ordered an assortment of breads. It was all delicious, and so filling! I tried a few of the desserts, but I think they were just not to my taste.

Everything here is great. The service was very friendly. We asked a ton of questions, and they patiently answered them all. We learned a ton about what's in the food and got recommendations for what dishes we'd like. The entrees were awesome. The deserts were tasty and interesting. The food is good and authentic - no heavy cream here, all butter ghee. It's all vegetarian, which is a huge bummer for me, but it's still good. It's a bit of a drive out from downtown, but it's worth the drive. Bottom Line: I'll be back for the best authentic Indian in Cincinnati.

I was taken here (one might even say "dragged" ... I would) by yelper Rachel G who told me I need to get out of the greater downtown area more. Fair enough, I do love exploring this city. Off I went. This was about a 25 minute drive from downtown to get to this tucked away Indian restaurant, hidden in a strip mall. I actually drove by it the first time, having no idea that was what I was looking for. This is the most authentic Indian food I've ever had. I can't stress that enough. This is not a place for your first time, "let me see if I like this type of cuisine" meal. Hell no, This is hardcore, my friends, Brijmohan is a no-nonsense meal. You walk through the door and there's a counter in front of you full of Indian sweets. None of them are labeled and you have no idea what they are. Behind the counter are their list of dishes they make. None of them have explanations and none of them are truly that familiar (I went looking for my chicken tiki masala, my stable Indian meal, and was told they don't make it.) Someone said the whole place is vegetarian but I couldn't prove that one way or another. There is also a list of $5 lunch specials, but again, I had to guess what the hell any of them are. I got up to the counter and the guy working behind it was very nice. I butchered the names of a few items, asking what they were, and he explained them to me. I finally settled on a chickpea dish and some naan bread. Mmm naan bread. After ordering and paying, you sit at a table and wait for them to bring your food. The area is actually pretty big and there are tables everywhere (I heard they used to be in a hole in the wall but now moved into this nicer space). The food was good, although, to be fair, I'm still not sure exactly what I ordered. Whatever it was, it was tasty. All in all, I enjoyed myself. The whole experience is a little intimidating ... ok, a lot intimating, but the staff is friendly and you get to try something new. And it's always good to try something new.

This is a solid choice, the food is reasonably priced, the portions are the right size, and the food is killer. They also have a host of sweets and deserts as well. Im not as big of a fan of indian deserts as i am of indian food, but to each their own. If you like indian, check it out!

This is a review on the desserts alone. I have yet to go back for the rest of their food. The desserts are great. We tried a selection. All were amazing, especially the one recommended by the women behind the counter. It was apparently her fathers speciality and tasted like peanut butter, but was made with chik peas. Very good. The staff is very helpful. We had no idea what to get, but she helped us with a selection. All were very good. The atmosphere is awesome. This place seems to have a very devoted clientele. I can't wait to go back and try their food. Yum!

So, after reading the reviews on Yelp, my wife and I decided to have lunch here. It was a Sunday and they were about an hour away from closing. When you walk in, you place your order at the counter and then choose where you want to sit, which seemed a bit peculiar to me. We both ordered the mushroom matar from the lunch menu. It came out quickly, and as expected, the portions were a bit smaller, which is typical for a lunch portion. The mushroom matar was very good. The spice level seemed accurate. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that the mushroom matar was slightly runny. That was no big deal, because the nan was probably the best I've ever had. Everything was served in paper bowls on a cafeteria tray with plastic utensils, but that seemed fine for the price. Upon leaving, we decided to order a few sweets. Not knowing much about them, I asked the lady to choose a few of her favorites. She was very polite and quickly put a few in a plastic container. We ate them when we got home and they were exceptionally good. So, overall it was a good experience. We will definitely go back.

  • Juliane S.

I went for dinner which was extremely good. The price was exceptional but you do eat off and out of plastic which I didn't mind. If I hadn't been instructed how to order, etc. I would not have known. There are no signs telling you how the service works. You order first then locate a seat. The water is in a cooler by a small table with plastic ware. I don't know if there are any other drinks and I didn't partake of any sweets which seems to be a must. If you don't already know Indian you won't get what you are ordering as the menu is a board on the wall without explanation. Everyone raves about this place - I was just OK with it; but, I don't know enough about Indian food to really gauge. I do know it's not easy to get to....

  • Caroline C.

Vegetarian Indian food and sweets. It's a hard deal to beat. The lunch specials (that are even served on the weekends!) are $5 and include your choice of main (dal, mushroom saag, veg korma, etc), bread (choose between naan, potato naan, garlic naan and some others), onion salad and rice. Delicious and satisfying. I just wish they offered paneer dishes for this special, but for 5 bucks, I'm not complaining. The Indian sweets are a total mystery to me. I've been asking repeatedly what each item is at each visit and they are very patient and always explain, but... just point and enjoy. Try a few things and repeat. Over the past few visits I've noticed a recurring theme of cardamom, lime and sweetened condensed milk flavors. I have to dock a star for the styrofoam cups, plastic utensils and paper plates. I felt so wasteful creating all that garbage.

Ok so you want authentic India food? Then this is the place to get it. Not a big Indian food person? Doesn't matter you'll still find something you like here. They've just moved to the other end of the 5 shop strip mall and almost quintupled their size!! And if you stop in here for lunch, it shows. They have awesome lunch specials! $4.99 for an entree (might i suggest the Mushroom Saag), a carrot and sweet onion salad, rice, and naan (again the garlic naan is superb) They also have 4 spice scales, so you can stick with the mild if you're not a fan, and it will be perfect. And regular has just a touch. They have water coolers set up for something to drink, or you can purchase a can of pop or juice, or try some traditional Indian bottled drinks. I'm not a fan of their sweets, but I couldn't dock them a star based on the fact that I don't care for that type of "sweet" but my cousin swears by the sweets, and again their authentic as can be. The staff is super awesome and make it a point to get to know you and remember you're name, and even sometimes your order. If you're looking for something different, authentic, or spicy, this is definitely worth a stop!!

Let me start off by saying 'Every single thing on the menu is AWESOME' and a vegetarian's paradise. The added bonus is the food here reminds me of home cooked meals. I have been coming here regularly since the last 7 years and the quality of food has been top notch throughout. Chaat (Indian street food) and sweets are outstanding. Naan and rotis are cooked perfectly. Entree's are the made the way your mom would make them back home. Everything is delicious. Weekend/seasonal specials like Sarson ka Saag are to die for. I have eaten at Indian restaurants all over the US and this is as good as it gets. I have had friends come from much bigger cities like NYC/SF (where loads of indian food options are available) and rave about the food in BrijMohan. If you are in Cincy and like Indian food, DO NOT miss BrijMohan.

We stopped by this restaurant on our way to Smoky Mountains. Service was prompt and the lady behind the counter was friendly. I had the Poori Chole while my wife got the Channa Batura. We also shared the paani puri as an appetizer. We finished with Ras Malai for dessert. All the dishes were truly exceptional - they were freshly prepared and tasted authentic. Overall a memorable experience....The bad part....they are closed on Monday when we drive back through Cincinnati and we need to find an alternate spot for a stopover!!!!!!

Awesome North Indian street food. No other place in Cincinnati had such great street food . Large variety from papri chat, gol gappe, bhala, chole bathurey, Somosa.. All are awesome... Great Indian sweets is another speciality. Very fresh and are great to have during Indian festivities....Jalebi on weekends is a wonderful addition and very authentic taste... Main course --- average to better than average. Kari pakora and saag are good... Naan/breads and other stuff is average

Brij Mohan is different than most of the "generic" Indian restaurants in the Cincinnati area. This is a restaurant thats features a pure vegeterian menu. For people like me, who have immigrated from India, the main attraction for Brij Mohan is their "chaat" menu, which is "Indian Street Food" . I love their Dahi Puri , which is puffs served with sweet-sour tamarind chutney, a spicy hot chutney, yogurt and topped with cilantro. Also try their samosa chaat , which is a potato filled pastry topped with delicious savory chutnies and yogurt. I know many people are not fans of Indian style desserts, but I can certainly say that Brij Mohan has the best Indian sweets in the area.. very "authentic tasting". It is priced reasonably and the prices are comparable to other Indian restaurants in the area (they do serve a mean "chole bhatura" (chick pea curry with puffed bread for $5... do try it) . They have recently moved to a bigger space and the ambience is very good, very family friendly. Also, if you are lucky, you can watch a cricket match on the TV screens there. The owners are very friendly and they can help you out with menu selection. Another tip: They have daily specials written on a board everyday.. do try something from there. This is a wonderful place for a weekend brunch.. during a shopping trip (thats what I usually do) . If you love to experiment with cooking like I do.. and want to experiment cooking an Indian recipe with Paneer (Indian style cheese), then Brij Mohan sells fresh Paneer that they make everyday.. it's a bit expensive than the store, but you can't compare the wonderful taste of the fresh Paneer you can get at Brij Mohan. A final tip... on a cold winter day, do end your meal with an authentic Indian style "Masala chai" (tea brewed with ginger and cardamom).. it would be a perfect ending to your delicious meal here. Definitely recommend this place ...

Let me add even more praise to this restaurant. Indian food options in the city have increased dramatically and this is one place that is not a carbon copy version. The decor and overall appearance isn't that amazing, in fact it is rather spartan. Yet once you figure out your order, their food will do the talking for you. It is really good. You can taste the freshness and their desserts are a great way to finish your meal. I can tell that the money and time are put into the food and not into other inconsequential aspects. The TV usually has an overseas cricket game or some other unique sporting event. They use disposable utensils, at least the last time I was there, I would like to see them use more reusable items in the future. Authentic, delicious, and no frills. I love it.

Excellent food at a decent price! I came here YEARS back when there was literally no room to sit and enjoy my meal...so just ended up sharing a table with a random family and was in bliss with my chole bhatura meal. Since that day, whenever I'm in the area, I've made it a point to return for some good eats and with the current renovations, this place is busy, packed but still putting out quality food. You want authentic Indian food? Give Mohan sweets a try. For a vegetarian joint, you will find meat-eaters leaving with a satisfied smile while rubbing their belly. I managed to get that reaction from the pair of friends I brought from out of town. They skeptical looks quickly vanished once they took their first bites. The prices are not the lowest in the area, you can find cheaper, or even larger portions elsewhere. But this place seems to be "just right" with the portions for a single person and the extra dollar or two easily are forgotten about when your eating.

  • Jackie S.

This is one of the best Indian restaurants in the city limits. We tend to make the 1/2 hour long trip from downtown in order bring out of towners here because the food is that delicious and authentic. Don't let the fact that you need to get your own paper plates and plastic forks deter you. Nor the fact that you can get your dear chicken tika masala (it's a vegetarian restaurant, you addict!). Go into this with an open mind...and/or mouth! I encourage you to try an appetizer or some of the specialty Naan... and of course try to save room for sweets and treats!

  • Neha S.

Every time I go to cinci (I have family there, so I go quite often) I always want to go to this place for brunch. The food is amazing! Seriously I haven't had better Indian vegetarian food anywhere in the US and I can only think of one place in Delhi that can compete. Don't let "vegetarian" fool you. You won't go hungry here... and this comes from an avid non vegetarian. Try the papdi chat, the chole bhaturai and the saag paneer. Although this place is known for its chat, the naan is amazing! Buttery goodness. You will not miss meat. Not even once. And for dessert, rasmalai is sooo good. I don't love the other sweets though. When I eat at Brijmohan, I generally don't need to eat anything else for the next 6 hours.. because I stuff my face.

So I stopped in for takeout during lunch. The restaurant was full which is always a good sign. The decor is very comfortable clean and the staff friendly. The lunch specials at 4.99 seemed like a good idea and I ordered a mushroom curry. While I waited a LONG time for my food I perused the menu and watched 20 or so dishes come out of the kitchen. My first impression was that the food looked simple, small portions, but fresh. I was really disappointed to see all the food served on cheap paper plates. A couple dining in who ordered 1 appetizers 2 entrees and 1 bread would be in for 30 bucks plus tip and I'm sorry but paper plates and a plastic fork? My food was good. The basmati rice was perfect, the curry was well balanced and the naan was the best I've ever had. I must add that there was only 3 mushrooms in my mushroqom curry and the overall portion was small even for lunch.

No frills, great taste, vegetarian, vegan, and/or Jain Indian food. Many, many choices, including classics, but also a strong display case of Indian sweets, very fresh looking (no, I don't eat sweets, sadly). Their garlic naan (a tortilla-like bread) was outstanding, and my malai kofta was very good. Strictly no frills, paper plates, plastic serving, plastic cups-- but prices are very reasonable, and the emphasis is on the food, which is really good. Lots of parking, and too many TVs, but again-- it's the food you came here for, and it's really good.

One of the best Indian restaurants in Cincinnati. They serve only vegetarian food but they are the best at it. Style of preparation is north Indian. All of the lunch menu options are delicious. Soya biryani is amazing too.

Indian sweets - who knew!? When I want dessert or something sweet I would have never thought of Indian cuisine. Not anymore! I tried one of nearly every treat that have, and they were all AMAZING!!! I can't get over it. I especially loved the white oval one. My husband and I also ate dinner, and the food was just as good as the sweets. It's a shame we live in central Kentucky cause this might be my new favorite restaurant! The man taking orders at the counter was very friendly and patient and seemed genuinely happy to help us decide on what to order.

I used to come where when it was a small shop a few years ago, but frankly never found it appealing. See I love holes in the wall, but just didn't like THAT hole in the wall.. i'm not saying it was dirty, it just "looked" dirty.. BUT All that has changed, they moved into a nice new store (bigger with more seating) and now they look pretty good! I love going there as it opens up my appetite. Now to the important part of this review, the food. When you think Indian (or at least when I think Indian) I think Chicken Tanduri, Tikka, Lamb, Beef etc.. yeah, well throw all that out the window and check this out! it is an authentic (verified by my Indian friends) vegetarian Indian cuisine.. and it is MAGNIFICENT. Their plates are SO good! I don't even look at what the plate has anymore, I just pick a random name and go with it! and it has NEVER disappointed! the only thing i don't like is that their Naan is really greasy: but hey, i'm not going to complain! everything else is great! Brij Mohan makes sweets too. When I think sweets, i never think Indian sweets, but then again i'm corrected, this stuff is really good! When you go there try the Mango Lacie (I think that's how it's written) it's a Indian Mango drink.. VERY good.. (notice, it's not IF you go there, it's WHEN you go there)

I've only been here for lunch, but of course I discovered one of the best Indian restaurants in Cincinnati, right next door to my elementary school, when I move down to Clifton. I'm not an expert when it comes to Indian food, but this has a great selection of many different delicious dishes. Its rather cheap too - $4.99 for a lunch special, which includes rice, nan, a main dish, and pickled carrots/onions. Additionally, Brijmohan has a ton of different Indian deserts and appetizers - and these are what really sets it apart from the other Indian restaurants in Cincinnati. The biggest issue will be new-comers who do not really know what is in any of the dishes - there are no explanations of the dishes on the menus, its simply the name. Thus, attempt to go with people who know what they're reading!

Brijmohan is the real deal. I'm Indian and I've been eating Indian food my whole life. I also eat a lot of meat, so it's uncommon for me to frequent a vegetarian restaurant. The restaurant is unimpressive from the outside. It's located in a strip mall off Reading Road...but don't think that's an indicator of how awesome the food tastes. If you're not acquainted with Indian food, you might be intimidated by all the options on the menu. Don't worry - just ask the nice woman behind the counter to explain them to you or explain what you like and don't like...she'll point you in the right direction. After a few visits, she'll be calling you by name. The spice scale is to be taken literally. Don't order hot or even medium hot unless you know what you're getting yourself into. They don't mess around and will serve you a dish that will set your mouth on fire if that's what you order. The restaurant often has Bollywood movies playing, which is kind of annoying, especially if it's too crowded and you have to sit next to one of the TVs. They serve you with plastic utensils and styrofoam plates, but what comes on those plates is delicious. Aloo choley (potatoes and garbanzo beans in a spicy sauce) is my standard order now. lt comes with rice, naan (bread) and an onion salad which I honestly never eat. If you're a big eater, you may want to order an appetizer as well. I do this even though it basically doubles the cost of the meal because the lunch specials are on the small side. I find that there's a lot of rice and naan relative to the main part of the dish, which is a bit annoying since I'd rather fill up on the good stuff. But for $5, I guess it's hard to complain. All in all, probably my favorite lunch spot in Cincinnati so far.

Simple and sweet. Food was authentic and delicious. Vegetarian only and snacks are to die for. I did not try entrees. Ras Malai was simply awesome !

This is an excellent vegetarian Indian restaurant. I had several items off their menu to include two kinds of chat, chole botura, and two desserts. I was happy with EVERY dish I had! The chole botura was especially good, although I wash they provided more curry for the massive boturas that were given. The restaurant is partially self-serve but there was a single waitress for the restaurant that was very attentive, checking on us regularly and ensuring that we were not without water. I will definitely be coming back here again!

I found Brij Mohan one of the best Indian food around Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus area. The good things first: Quality, Freshness and authenticity of North Indian food is outstanding. Its fast food, so you really do not have to wait for a long time. People working there are quite humble and nice to talk to. The Naan (Bread), Bature, Chhole and the Kadai Paneer (Spicy curry with cottage cheese) are my favorite food there. The best out of the restaurant are its sweets. Ras Malai (Milk sweet with cottage cheese cakes in it), and Jalebi (Sweets made of fine flour) are the one of the best that I have tried around. This restaurant is definitely worth a try. The down sides: 1) Quantity is less than filling. 2) The amount may suffice when you are dining in, but definitely less when you carry out for more people, so may become embarrassing if some people are left out. 3) The dining space within the restaurant is very small, but thats not really a bad thing, its fast food, so you will not spend plenty of time waiting, hence less space is not really that bad, as it sounds. 4) Expensive than comparable Indian restaurants, this is again not a negative side, but when compared with quantity along side price, it hurts the expectation little bit. Summay: A definite place to try, and I hope you will bookmark this restaurant and remember the place whenever you think of Indian food.

Brijmohan spoils your tastebuds. The chaat and the Indian dishes are just perfect, a rare find in US. I was in Cincinnati for a few months and made sure to make it there for lunch and/or dinner. The lunch fare is very good at $4.99 with Entree, rice and nan. The choices are fabulous. This is a "vegetarian" only place and I love it. I would certainly make it a point to visit Brijmohan next time I am in Cincinnati.

Good place for chaat. They also have a decent menu of north indian dishes and sweets. Place is too small though.
