We went there for lunch and boy, was it hopping! It reminded me of a place I user to back east called Bee Bee Dairy. I had the 1/4 lb. burger. The mrs. had a big boy. The food was perfect. Service was decent given how busy it was. Got to meet the owner. Very nice gentleman. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

I have been here many many times. My friends that live in Norwood introduced me to the Bird and I am so thrilled! Love the salads, love the breakfast, love the sandwiches, love the table top juke boxes.. There's nothing not to like!

I tried to like this place. I really, really did. As a matter of fact, I gave this place three tries, but I won't be going back. I have a weakness for dives and diners, so there's a certain allowance you make when it comes to food quality when you love diners. You expect greasy spoon. You accept it. Hell, you even look forward to it. My first time at Bluebird was a Sunday morning brunch. Omelette and hashbrowns with toast. Bluebird is busy on Sundays, so the slight wait for food is to be expected. It's no problem. We liked it well enough (that first meal was a 3-star meal, I think - nothing to write home about, but friendly service and solid delivery by the kitchen) to try it again for breakfast a few weeks later. Disasterous. We waited 40 minutes that morning before we finally apologized to the overworked waitress and just left, leaving enough to cover the cost of our drinks. It had taken 20 minutes to even place an order, and we were told at the 40 minute mark that the kitchen hadn't even started on our meal. We had places to be - waiting another hour for food wasn't going to happen. This left a bad enough taste in my mouth that it took a while to decide to return. We came back again to make a dinner run, hoping that the sluggish dinner crowd would mean better service and fresher food. Noooooooooope. One waitress, one cook. Half the restaurant closed off because management can't properly staff the place, and another 45 minute wait for food to come out. When the food finally came out, the sides were cold and the meat so greasy it was inedible. We paid over 30 dollars for a meal that was cold, greasy, and took far too long to come out. Refills on drinks were essentially non-existent because the solitary waitress they had there couldn't handle the number of people that had placed their orders there. My visits over the past few months really suggest that the owners are unable to staff this place properly - both in the front of the house and on the grill. The cook they had working was inexperienced, slow, and incapable of putting forth a hot and hearty meal. The waitress was overworked and frazzled and needed a second pair of hands to make service work. It's frustrating and - as a customer - a waste of our time and money to try this nonsense a fourth time. Should you brave the bluebird, proceed with caution. There are plenty of other diners worth your time and your money.

The food was good, but I think that is mostly because I was so hungry after waiting for a little while. They were busy, so the wait was understandable, but the hunger was still there. I also think the place was hyped-up a little more than it should have been. I will say the food was on par for what a dinner/brunch type place could be, but I wasn't completely wow-ed. The service was lacking. I guess our server looked busy, and that may not fully be her fault, but come on - we weren't really given our due attention: we ran out of drinks and waited a while, our checks took a while, and someone never actually got their drink. Also, we were waiting so long that we thought we may have to go to a register to cash out, only to find out and be stopped by our server...so no, they cash you out - it just took forever. Not the greatest experience - I'm hoping this was just because it was Sunday brunch, and not a normal occurance.

I want to preface this review by saying I know for a fact I'm VERY picky when it comes to breakfast food and diners. So keep that in mind when you read my opinions below. The Bluebird Cafe is a quaint diner in Norwood that seems to be a local favorite. I dined on a Sunday morning as a first time visitor to both this establishment and to Cincinnati. I hate to disagree with the previous reviewers but my experience here was not overly thrilling. I waited for a very long time to be served. Our server had about 7 tables and the counter too section that she was serving. I can say she was very apologetic for the wait and very accommodating under the circumstances. My food was cold. That's always a bummer when you've waited a long time for food and service. So that was strike two against the Bluebird. Don't make people wait for long periods of time just to serve them cold food. Once I got my food I wasn't overly impressed with the taste. I had the short stack with bacon and a side of breakfast potatoes. The pancakes were boring and tasteless and cold. The bacon was crispy (I love crispy bacon) and my breakfast potatoes were cold and tasteless. They used no seasonings to prepare the potatoes and the could have benefitted from at least some Mrs. Dash to give a hint of taste (please note this is a joke . . . Kind of). Overall this is mediocre diner food. The atmosphere is cute and the locals make this place entertaining. I am willing to give this place a second chance only because it has had so many great reviews. Maybe I just came in a bad day.

I had the Spanish omelette with home fries and biscuits. It was delicious. Restaurant was very cool with old time juke boxes at every table. Service was fast and friendly

Went for Sunday brunch and it was pretty busy, the bus boy apologized for the wait for a clean table stating that the dishwasher hadn't shown up that morning. I think the whole time I only saw one waitress working. It took 45 minutes to get our food which especially for breakfast is really unacceptable. The food was just ok, might give it another chance someday, but not for awhile.

Had the breakfast sandwich, egg cheese and goetta with a side of grits. Pretty damn good. Good service. Definitely recommend.

Great greasy spoon diner! I've only ordered breakfast, but the pancakes are fluffy, bacon and hashbrowns are crispy, and eggs perfectly gooey in the middle. The sweet tea is perfect. One of these days I'll go for lunch or dinner!

Welcome to your moms kitchen! Between the all day breakfast food and the great hearty meals, all local college students get 20% off. Yea guys it's just like going home to mom. Their breakfast is great but their sandwiches - burgers, phillies, open face. Good sausage, meatballs and everything your mom made you growing up.

Bluebird Restaurant you sneaky little underrated girl you! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place just trying to kill time. We love diners and judge them very harshly since they are our favorite. Breakfast is also my favorite meal so I am even more critical. Please take this as a public service announcement: BLUEBIRD IS THE BEE'S KNEES! Atmosphere: Been around 70+ years. Although changed ownership about seven years ago. The walls are decorated with very country decor and when you walk in you immediately feel like family. Sometimes diners feel like they are a local's only type feel, but we were greeted right away and even got a few "hunnies and sweeties." Booth was cozy, but the old school bars were hilarious and too cute. Food: One of my favorite chef's always says, "Simple food is the hardest to execute." You can't over think it. Timing is everything. This is a perfect example of just how true this is. We ordered a Western Omelet that was seriously the best omelete I have ever had. I have had omelets in South Beach, Chicago, all over. And this was no question the best. What made it so delicious was the fact that they sauteed all the peppers, mushrooms and onions on the griddle prior to cooking the eggs. The ingredients inside were well seasoned, crispy, yet plump and juicy. The omelet was perfectly folded and not burnt or overcooked on the outside which is my all time pet peeve and why I almost never order omelets. WOW. Delicious. I highly recommend any of them here. This was actually what my boyfriend ordered and I stole it from him. I ordered the breakfast special which was eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and bacon. Everything was above average diner food. Flavorful and it all came out steaming and hot which is hard to do when your cooking so many things at once. I cannot explain in words the kind of high I was on in when I left this place. Seriously do yourself a favor and pop into Bluebird if you want a little taste of Nirvana.

Had lunch here recently. One of the worst meals I have had in a long time. The double deluxe burger was some mystery meat disc. It had zero flavor and tasted like it came out of a box. The onion straws were overcooked. The service is also very slow.

CONS: I ordered the turkey club with well done hash browns. I asked for wheat bread, they were out, but told me it comes on a sub bun. The sandwich was American cheese, bacon, and Turkey on Texas toast. NO essence of a club sandwich. Hash browns were undercooked and mushy. My girlfriend's home fries were practically burnt. Our teenage boy didn't even finish his bacon and cheese omelet. WAITED so long I almost had to leave so I wouldn't be late for work. PROS: My table liked the goetta and the biscuits & gravy (I didn't try either) I give 1 star for my review but selected 2 for the things my family enjoyed. It seems their menu is hit or miss and quite misleading.

Quaint diner with at-the-table jukeboxes, clean and the service was good. Omlettes were light on the cheese, but other than that was very pleased!

After reading the reviews, I decided to try the place, not expecting fast service. It's good that I planned for that, because it was really slow, as the others have said. The waitress acknowledged me twice before she was able to get to me. Once she had my drink order, though, she kept my glass full. I had a reuben and onion straws (which I would call onion chips, because they aren't the barely-breaded strings I was expecting - good, though). The reuben wouldn't stay together, but it was tasty. The corned beef was very tender. I'll be going back to try other things. It took forever for my food to come, because they have too many orders for two cooks to handle. The food was coming out steadily, but very slowly. As long as you allow for that, the Bluebird is worth going to.

Seriously I'm not sure I've had a more delicious omelet. I am all about authentic diners and Bluebird has this down to a T! This place has been around for ages and it's like they've never cleaned their grill before (that's a good thing). Can we talk more about that omelet? I had the Hashbrown Omelet and it was thin, cooked throughout, and cheesy. I got a side of home fries and some cornbread with it, but I don't remember how those tasted. I can only remember that frickin' amazing omelet. ANYWAY - I'll surely be back. They kept my coffee full and the meal was dirt cheap. Friendly service. Everything was perfect. They wouldn't have been around this long if it weren't! Plus, if the great Todd Frazier loves it...I'm bound to love it too!

This place is so charming. I had a Reuben with fries, and it was exactly as expected. It matched the vibe of the place - no frills, but totally familiar. The service was great, our server super friendly and very welcoming. This is a place your grandparents would take you as a kid and it's still great for a trip down memory lane as an adult.

Super friendly people and great inexpensive food. My first time visiting Cincinnati and I got super drunk the night before. This diner was the perfect hangover food: biscuits and gravy, sausages, hash browns, pancakes.

This place is great! You definitely get the old school diner feel and the staff and prices are right in line with that as well. My coworkers and I recently went here for lunch and we were impressed. The place was nearly empty, but we went at a strange time, so I assume it gets crowded during peak hours. Anna was our server and she was great. We chatted about a ton of things, including Todd Frazier of the Reds who frequents this spot every week during the season. I will definitely be back so that I can try some of the other tasty menu items. Can't wait!

The Bluebird might be my new favorite spot for breakfast or brunch. It's kind of a step back in time, when you could get great breakfast food without an hour wait and a $50 tab. The service is great, and the throwback diner environment just makes you feel at home.

  • Ryan Z.

Good potential as a down-home style diner. The prices are dirt cheap and the food is above average. Unfortunately, the place is way too big for the kitchen to handle. We sat at their bar/countertop hoping to get quick service as we only had an hour to spare for breakfast. That should have been plenty of time. Instead, it took 15 minutes before we could get anyone to take our order and then another 45 minutes before the food arrived. That's crazy talk. The waitress didn't seem surprised by the long wait. If you have nothing else to do and price is your main concern, I guess this place wouldn't be so bad. Otherwise, you're doing yourself a disservice by not going to Tuckers in OTR or Bellevue Bistro in KY.

Best biscuits and sausage gravy anywhere! Family oriented, staff is friendly and accommodating. Parking behind the bldg.

In all fairness, this review is pretty narrow in scope as to the food the Bluebird Restaurant has to offer. After hearing about how wonderful this place was for years (told to me by people born and raised here, for I am not), I figured it was time I went. So my daughter and I, on our "Cincinnati Burger Tour", decided to make this late Saturday afternoon the day we came in to enjoy the wonder for ourselves. We entered an empty restaurant. By empty, I mean empty. And not just empty of patrons. I mean empty of everyone. The "I fully expected to hear the muffled cries of help from the employees trapped in a walk in freezer after the hold-up", type empty. We stood there, uncertain as to the seating protocol, for an easy three minutes. Finally I just pointed at a booth and we seated ourselves. After a couple of more minutes, a waitress appeared at the back of the restaurant, and began doing her side work. She was obviously oblivious to our presence. Four or five minutes later (we were curious how long this would go on), we were noticed. Not by the waitress, but by the cook, who at some point had walked back in, and who had alerted the young lady of our presence. We got menus, ordered our drinks, and skimmed through the old-fashioned, on the-wall style jukebox titles attached to the wall. And then we waited some more. Couldn't get the jukebox to work. By this time, another table had entered, and the waitress was immediately back taking their order (it appeared she knew them), laughing (the elderly couple was apparently either hilarious, or good tippers), and after putting in their order, finally got around to taking ours. We went simple. The double decker burger for both of us, with extra onions for me. Hash Browns on mine (Crisp please), Home Fries for my daughter. The wait wasn't long, the short order cook, was, um....cooking in short order I guess. The food was OK. It was tasty enough, and was the equivalent in construction to a Frisch's Big Boy, or a Big Mac. Two 8-1 well-done hamburger patties, lettuce, one slice of American cheese, pickles, mayo, on a regular bun. Heavy onions on mine, assembled in a hurry, or so it appeared. The potatoes, also OK. The Hash Browns weren't too crispy, but they weren't raw either. Odd thing: both burgers were speared by one of those frilly cellophane-topped wooden toothpicks, which is a touch I happen to like. However, while mine sparkled with the radiance of the yellow cellophane, my daughter's was burnt off. I really am not sure how that happens, but it did. Oh yeah, and they each were adorned with either a greasy thumb print on the top bun, or a thumb hole poked into it. Quaint. I wish the jukebox would have worked. My teenage daughter was rather fascinated by it, and was amazed every booth had a little one to pick your songs from. I thought it was neat. OK, a little nostalgia for me, too. By the look of the selections, these were the same songs I heard come out from them 40 years ago...Three Dog Night, Johnny Cash. I don't know if all of them were inoperable, or if it was just ours. I guess a lot of this place's charm is the nostalgia for everyone who grew up near here. Going out to eat after church on Sunday, memories of hopping up to the counter and grabbing a milkshake, raising a barn, putting on a dance with Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney to save the old school house.....wait, the stories are getting pretty far out now. Sorry. Because if I were to base it on just this visit, Meh... By I would give it another "good old American Comfort Food Try". It's an old-fashioned diner like I remember before every corner had a McDonald's, a Taco Bell, or a Burger King on it. I'm glad they are still here. The Bluebird Restaurant still serves liver and onions type dishes, things you don't see at the run of the mill chains, so bless them for that. Do I understand the nostalgia here? Yep. Just like I miss lunch at the Woolworth counter while my Mom shopped, $0.10 double scoop ice cream cones from Sav-On, and my favorite, "The 5-J's Café", owned by my aunt Phyllis and uncle Jake in Belt, Montana. Ah, the good old days....... "Yes. A chocolate Malted, please", "And whatever my girl wants, my good man, the treats on me".

This place is a great hangover stop. The only thing I have tried here is the "bird's nest": hash browns, eggs, and lots of cheese. How can you go wrong with that? Add on some ketchup and a cup of coffee, and you will feel much better after all that wine from last night. My sister got the biscuits and gravy, and they were also very good. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect: diner booths and stools at the lunch counter (or breakfast counter in this case). This place reminds of going to breakfast with my grandparents when I was little, and I kind of love that.

I love this place! The breakfast special is the best! ordered to your liking (Mine is 2 eggs over easy, ham, hash browns , 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy) with a side of geotta, and I'm ready to take on the day! Staff is great too! Oh, I forgot to mention the Fish Sandwich rocks as well(heck, its all good).

I had the Double Burger, aka: Big Boy, with onion straws. The place was not at all crowded but our waitress seemed rushed and harried. Our food order sat under the heat lamp for around 20 minutes before being brought to our table. Needless to say, it wasn't hot. Then we had to wait again for our bills to be added up and brought to the table. All in all it was a good hour or more for lunch. I will go back and try it again, but if it's more of the same I won't be back. I was on my lunch break and just don't have that kind of time. I heard good things about Bluebird, but they didn't live up to the reviews.

My family and I were up and out of the house early this past Saturday and decided we wanted to try somewhere new for breakfast. We have a running spreadsheet of new restaurant ideas so I picked the first place on the list, the Bluebird Restaurant in Norwood. Though I knew the general area it was in (just up Montgomery Road from Surrey Square) I nearly drove right past it. The outside of the restaurant is not easily recognizable and it looks quite small. Once we stepped through the front door I was amazed at just how large the restaurant really is on the inside. It isn't very wide but offers plenty of seating with booths lining the entire length of the long right wall. There are also a few other larger tables to fill in the corners plus a large counter area that looks toward the semi-open kitchen. It's very much an old-time diner, but still seems clean and bright. Our son was a huge fan of the jukebox that was mounted on the wall just above our chosen booth. For 25 cents you can pick a song to be played throughout the centrally wired system of jukeboxes in every booth. This gave him plenty to do for the short time we had to wait for our food orders to arrive. I ordered from the ala carte menu and ended up with biscuits and gravy ($3.30), hash browns ($2.30), and bacon ($2.30). The biscuits and gravy were excellent with a nice peppery gravy and plenty of fluffy biscuits. I also was a huge fan of the hash browns, which were cooked perfectly with a bit of a crispness but not overly done. The bacon was also good and plentiful compared to what you normally get for a side of bacon. My wife ordered the breakfast special - 2 eggs, hash browns or home fries, 1/2 order biscuits and gravy, choice of bacon or sausage (goetta and ham add 50 cents). This was a massive amount of food for the $6.90 price tag. We probably should have paid better attention to what each other were ordering, as we ended up with a lot of duplicates. I did get to steal some of her goetta, which I thought was a little overcooked but still tasty. We also ordered the children's pancakes and egg for our son. Again I was able to take a few bites of his pancakes, which I found to be light and fluffy, just as you'd expect. Though he didn't say it, I think our son agreed with me as he nearly ate an entire pancake and most of his scrambled egg. Our total for the three of us was $24.18 and we had enough food to take home for another breakfast the following morning. All of our food was tasty and our service couldn't have been nicer and more efficient. We will definitely be back for more.

Everything you expect from a diner. Breakfast all day. Nice servers. Big portions. A few things you don't expect. Some healthy options. Cincy chili. Overall, a good experience.

This is a terrible place to eat there are sanitation issues right and left that give any logical person cause to pause. I used this restaurant for a culinary observation paper and learned little more than what not to do when opening/ running a diner. This place is a dive by any other definition and smells of moldy basement. To think if the health department violations were this observable in the front of the house. What was happening that I couldn't see. And if the lack of clean is not enough the wait staff is OK At best... Don't waste your money or your time.

I'm going to start this off by saying the only reason I have heard of this place and know about it is because I've heard Todd Frazier (Third Baseman For The Reds) talk about how much he loves it and goes to it before home games all the time. My boyfriend and I love Todd Frazier, so hoping that he has good taste and the fact that we were craving breakfast food we decided to give it a try. First off, this place is in Norwood. I have a strong distaste for Norwood. But after eating here, their may be one reason now for me to go to it more often than never. We drove by this place a couple times trying to find it. It's directly behind Walgreens on the corner and hiding behind some trees with a big yellow awning. So look out for that when you decide to head over to this restaurant. We parked on the street using old meters that barely work. I found out inside though that they have a back lot for parking so you can park there for free or on the street using meters. We went in here during lunch on a Friday, it wasn't crowded at all and there were four other people eating in the whole place. First impressions was that this place was old school diner style, and I liked it. Every booth has a mini Jukebox with it and you can play a song for a quarter. Most of the songs are country mixed in with some oldies but goodies type of songs. Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and The Bee-Gees. Our server was this seemed to be teenage girl who had a slight attitude at the start, but that changed throughout our time eating here. I decided that I think she was hangry, (Hungry + Angry) because she turned into a much more pleasant server and person after I saw her eat. Which I understand seeing how I am a person who is always hangry, usually on a daily bases. I ordered "The Breakfast Special" which for $6.90 you get Eggs, Hashbrowns or Home Fries, Bacon or Sausage (You can get links or patties) and Biscuit and Gravy. I ordered Scrambled Eggs, Hash Browns, Sausage Links and Biscuits and Gravy. My boyfriend ordered the "Western Omelet". Which had Onions, Green Peppers, Tomatoes, Ham inside of it and was topped with cheddar cheese. It also came with Hash Browns and Goetta. We both really liked our food a lot. For a place called a "Greasy Spoon". The food wasn't really greasy. It tasted fresh and not really heavy on that stomach. I wasn't too crazy about my biscuits and gravy, I think it was because I was comparing it to my very southern grandmothers in which probably isn't fair. The gravy just had a weird aftertaste and wasn't doing it for me. Also, I took note before ordering my food that a handful of people on Yelp complained about the Hash Browns being soft and mushy, when I ordered my Hash Browns I made sure to ask them to make them extra crispy. My boyfriend who didn't request them to be cooked more did receive mushy Hash Browns and mine were perfect. So, if you like your Hash Browns more on the crispy side I would request that while ordering. I think the only downside I can say about this place besides it being in Norwood would be that the service was kind of slow. It took us thirty minutes to get our food regardless of pretty much no one being there. With that being said, I could only imagine how slow it would be with this place being packed. If you want a good home style cooking breakfast and don't want to pay $30 at a place like IHOP I would go check this place out for sure. We will definitely be going back soon though and I'll be trying the lunch/dinner menu out.

So disappointed here. Read several reviews how great this place was and I just moved around the corner from here so I was excited to go try it. Went on A Sunday morning....bad idea. We were seated at a dirty table. Then after they cleared it we waited another 10 minutes before we were greeted. Then another 10 before she came to get our drink orders and by then we just ordered. The food came out and it was cold...not hot, not warm....cold. The server was sweet and obviously overwhelmed. She told us they had no bus boy. Still didn't excuse the lack of attention and cold food. The food had the potential to be great and I could only imagine had it been at least warm. It looked quality but when its cold, that can ruin any food. This is a vintage little diner and that is exactly what this country boy likes. I have a soft spot for places like this. Personally it looks like they blew up fast and they don't staff appropriately to hang with the rush. I will give them one more go, on a less busy day, to try and let them redeem themselves.

Great little diner that reminds me of Philly :) Cute and charming with yummy weekend breakfast food! Love this little dive!

Fantastic little dive with a personality as big as the menu. Spent time talking with the owners daughter who couldn't have been more pleasant, going as far as to bring out samples of whatever I had questions about. Down home menu items like meatloaf, spaghetti/meatballs and hot ham and cheese to name a few. I'd be sure to get the slaw if I were you. A can't miss for lunch/dinner and breakfast food anytime of day.

The food was excellent. The atmosphere was your typical old school diner. Went there on a Sunday around brunch so there were extremely busy. The waitresses were very helpful, but seemed overwhelmed and busy. If you want great service and an atmosphere, this isn't your spot. If you are looking for an old, typical, out of date decor diner... this is your spot. Prices were amazingly cheap and food was good :)

Dollar for dollar, Bluebird might be one of the best places to eat in the city. Their menu is full of options. I always have trouble deciding what I want. They offer a discount for students. My girlfriend and I can grab a Sunday brunch there for $12 dollars. The place has a classic neighborhood charm with delicious, home-cooked options. The dining room can be a little busy and the waitstaff can get overwhelmed. A few times I had to wait 10-15 minutes after my meal for my check to come. If you go, I suggest sitting at the counter and ordering breakfast.

A great place for a good old fashioned diner meal! Prices are low and the food is plentiful. If you're in a hurry sit at the counter... otherwise enjoy people watching while you wait. Excellent breakfast.... tons of eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits and gravy... yum!

Prototypical diner to the T. Fading table-tops, old school photos on the walls, waitresses calling you "hun" and "sweetie", delicious greasy diner food for cheap. This is what makes this place a legitimate breakfast, brunch, lunch and even early dinner option. I've never had anything but the breakfast here because that's what searched this place out for. My go-to order is the Spanish Omelette with a side of hash-browns and an English muffin. This is one of the best omelettes in the city. Such a simple food item can be kicked up a notch if done correctly. The pancakes were well done also. Simple, buttermilk pancakes. Nothing over-the-top, nothing fancy. Just what I like. If your in the mood for a greasy spoon place then you will not be disappointed with Bluebird. It's the kind of place you come and can expect to know what your getting. And what your getting is one of the best greasy spoon breakfast's in the city.

I passed this diner all the time (for a year) and always wanted to try it. We came on a Sunday morning for breakfast and it was really busy. There was a wait if you wanted a booth, so instead we sat at the bar (island seating). We waited for awhile for the server to get our drink order. Then when we ordered, we waited a long time for the food. I understand the circumstances when places are busy, but when you get your meal, it should not be cold. I got 2 scrambled eggs, toast, bacon and hashbrowns. Food was not greasy, but the taste was kind of bland. I would come back and give it a second chance only because when we came it was busy. Maybe if we came on a slow day it would be different. I do love the atmosphere and the server was super sweet and apologized on the long wait. Restaurant clean and love the vintage décor.

One of the best dives I've ever been to. My fiancé and I usually visit on weekend mornings, and it's always packed. The restaurant is definitely understaffed, but the servers there are always incredibly nice and are always working their tails off. (You won't see anyone sneaking a peek at their phone). I usually get the hash brown omelette and toast, and I ask for the bacon to be half-way cooked. My fiancé generally gets the ham and cheese omelette and biscuits and gravy- he says their gravy is some of the best around. We'll continue to go here long after we move from Norwood.

Great soda (they got the syrup mixture right), and scrambled eggs. :) Will definitely come again!

Looking for some inexpensive, tasty and filling breakfast options? Then you need to hit the Bluebird Restaurant in Norwood. This cozy, old-school, no frills restaurant serves up warm homestyle cooking. And while I've only been there twice since moving here, I was reminded this week that I should eat here more often. There are great breakfast specials served (M-F?) from 6am-10am for under $4. You might want to call first to double check If you like hash browns and eggs, then you need to try the "Bird's Nest". My wife and I split the biscuits and gravy so between that and the "Bird'sNest" we left full and satisfied. There are plenty of other breakfast options and omelets as well. Their sandwich and burger selections sound hearty so next time I'll have to order one of those and see how they compare with other local places we've tried.

You are always greeted by someone upon walking into the bluebird. The staff here always has a pleasant, cheerful demeanor and will leave you wanting for nothing! This restaurant has become a happy standby for me and my friends!

The kids wanted to try something new and this place had a lot of stars. I think the reviews must be from their regulars. The food took about 45 minutes to get after waiting 15 minutes to place the order. My son ordered the special posted on the door, we got charged $2 more than the price on the posting. I ordered the home fries. They were thinly slicex but were cold and undercooked. We ordered the cornbread and it was rubbery. I will not be back.

My wife and I went for the first time this past weekend based on yelp and urbanspoon ratings. We were both exceedingly happy with the food, service and ambience. We like the "greasy spoon" feel and we both felt like we were in a small diner in Iowa (that is a good thing)...We will definitely be back and have shared our experience with many.

Continuing my quest to try the best breakfast spots in Cincinnati brought me to Norwood and the Bluebird Restaurant. Bluebird has a very homey feel and reminds me of what a traditional diner looks like, even sporting in-booth jukeboxes for your listening pleasure while enjoying some greasy spoon fare. My order included all of the traditional items a breakfast lover would order (pancakes AND biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, hash browns, and probably some other stuff in which I now forget due to breakfast euphoria). Needless to say my breakfast at Bluebird was quite good and was served up quickly and did not involve a shock when the bill arrived. If greasy breakfast is a guilty pleasure of yours and you would like to avoid buyer's remorse for spending too much, Bluebird in Norwood is a spot worth checking out.

Loved the old school diner feel, with the juke box and everything. Very crowded. We went on a Saturday brunch time. Food was really good. Biscuits and gravy were awesome. Definitely suggest those. Everyone we went with either got #1 or the breakfast special. It took awhile to get our food. Actually a pretty long time but our waitress was so sweet and even got me a complimentary pop. Def worth the wait if your want a yummy brunch

Tried it on a weekend morning for brunch. Not in my local area but saw the reviews and I'm always looking for good diner-type places. Unfortunately I was overall disappointed. The atmosphere is fine and service was good. The food was nothing special at all and even the coffee seemed weak. The food just didn't have anything great going for it. I may try for lunch/dinner another time but I'll head elsewhere for breakfast.

My bf loves this restaurant and I think it's just okay diner food. I will continue to go here because it's so cheap but I really do like their biscuits and gravy.

Breakfast Club drive by find with @Adam D...yeah, what he said :) Place was pretty hopping on a Saturday morning, definitely a local hotspot. The breakfast platter was awesome, I really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. yum yum.

Bluebird is true diner which in Cincinnati is actually a rarity. We have chili parlors not really diners. But this is one - complete with juke boxes at every table along the wall. I have had quite a bit of their menu as I used to work in Norwood and they were the fastest, cheapest, and were independent. Some of their menu is bland but overall it's decent. The customer service is amazing. Some of the waitstaff have been there for many years - honestly it's the reason for the 4 stars not necessarily the food.

Was over in Cincy on 3/10 and decided to stop by and try it from all the reviews I had read. Welllllll it's nice to see a quality, reasonable priced restaurant can still be found. This is like old school diner that use to be all over. Very large and diverse menu, quality/quanity of food excellent and staff extremely nice. Sis went with BLT/Cheese fries and loved it, dad went with daily special of fish and said it was great and I had the Country fried stake. All meals were great. If you are looking for a great meal, at a reasonable price from good people, then stop here. As for finding it, look for the yellow awning and it's right next to the brand new Wal-Greens...

Fresh, cooked-to-order, traditional American breakfast food. I am impressed that they are not just a greasy spoon... the hash browns and eggs were not remotely greasy! Their pancakes are light and fluffy, not doughy, dense or dry. Service is above average.

I can't believe I'm the first person to review the Bluebird! First of all, I think it has probably been around since the dawn of time, and second--it's so great! Y'all need to go. I've only been there twice, as it's in Norwood and I'm not in Norwood all that often. I've also only been there for breakfast on the weekdays. But come on, with all the breakfast specials for $3 and under--you really OUGHT to go. Take the morning off work, or just hit Bluebird before work...i believe the specials are from 6am-10am (but please check before you go). I have eaten the Bird's Nest (not on the menu, but ask for it)--hashbrowns covered with eggs and cheese--for around $3. Their Biscuits and Gravy are incredible also, and they are less than $3 (for two biscuits!) If you've read any of my reviews, you know I love a deal--and this place has deals, at least on the weekdays. This is the kind of place that I want Joe's Diner to be. Old School--in the best way!

That food is pretty good. We ordered fish and even after the woman described it as battered and fried she brought baked cod. We sent it back and she brought friend cod that was awesome. Mashed potatoes were good, green beans were awesome, lima beans were ok. After the mix up with the fish the service was good and very friendly. The prices were pretty good so I would definitely go back.

This is a good old school diner in Norwood. It seems to get a lot of regulars and has a fairly standard diner menu with a few specials and surprises thrown in. I got pancakes and eggs for something crazy like $4.50, and the pancakes were some of the best I've had in Cincinnati. They were perhaps a little sweeter than I would like, but tasty and satisfying. The coffee was not great, but was passable for a local diner. This is just good down-home breakfast place, and the prices really can't be beaten.

I love the country diner feel for Bluebird Restaurant, but you can tell just by looking at the place that chili is an addition to their menu, and not what they focus upon. Their varied menu has many options that you would find on your typical diner menu, but we weren't here for their version of a Big Boy, we were here to rate them against the city's finest chilis. First thing I notice was that there not just your typical 2-5 ways, but also a 6 and 7 way, which included tomatoes and jalapenos respectively. Since I always add heat to the top of my 4 ways that I've been judging, I opted to do a 4 way with jalapenos and a coney. My version of a 5 way came out in a very large bowl and was filled to the brim with an oversized portion of decently prepared noodles that were just a bit more than I was expecting or needing. The chili itself was meaty by design and had a wonderful aroma that struck the nose with a heavy cinnamon waft. Not overly spicy, the chili by itself could be a top contender. The cheese, however, wasn't piled high and appeared as though it came from a bag plucked from the dairy shelf at Kroger. Short, obviously not freshly shredded, the cheddar left a lot to be desired. The onions were cut fresh and quite flavorful and aromatic. The newest addition to my meal, the jalapenos, were a bit of a disappointment. I was kinda hoping for fresh jalapenos that seem to be everywhere these days but instead was given a small bowl full of pickled peppers that lack the punch of their fresh sliced bretheren. Albeit they were plentiful enough to share with my neighbor, they just could have been better. Then, late in the meal, the coney made it's unfortunate entrance. The bun wasn't steamed, the dog was small, the cheese was the same that came on the 5 way, and the chili was sparingly striped across the top. For $1.60, I felt just a bit cheated. Service was an A+ (except she told me since I didn't finish my noodles I couldn't have dessert. Who are you to judge my sweet tooth!) The atmosphere was a solid A, and at under $7, I was pretty happy, but a chili parlor they are not.

EASILY my favorite "greasy spoon" in the city. The "double burger" (Bluebird's version of the Frisch's Big Boy") is amazing, especially with an order of gravy cheese fries on the side. They have goetta AND corned beef hash, home fries AND hash browns, a 7-way chili (tomatoes and jalapenos are #6 & 7), and diet Dr. Pepper on tap. My stomach is growling just thinking about it. All of this, plus friendly service. The Bluebird is my #1 weekend breakfast/lunch destination :)

A charming, if a little worn, vintage diner, complete with horseshaped counters and booths with personal jukeboxes, stocked with authentic-to-the-era tunes. The food is disappointing, unfortunately, but the place is worth a look for its authentic old-school charm.
