Excellent service! filet and twice baked potato are awesome! décor is extremely dated but I'm there for the food and service. never had a problem or a bad meal. I have read many reviews whining about the prices being high. I cannot be a good judge of that because I don't price shop when I going out for steak. Tonight, we ordered 2 petit filets, with 2 appetizers and 2 drinks for $77. So it was a $100 meal for 2. I don't know what people expect but think it's just great!

Food was good, stuffed grape leaves with Greek sauce tasted like fill was used in it. Small portion. Skrout balls good at cooler temp. Too hot no taste. Steak was ok, texture was a little on the rough side. Scampi were large and tender. Butter was bland. Wine served warm. Decor very out of date. Severs were ok, but didn't get my mushrooms.

Love this place! The service and the food are outstanding! You have to try the blueberry martini with homemade blueberry vodka!!!

I love this place. Call and make a reservation for a certain time. On the way over, listen to some Sinatra and some Dean Martin. Get there an hour early and sit at the bar and order every cocktail that you can think of from the early sixties. But check in with the Matre 'd before you sit at the bar. When you get a table, order whatever you want. Make sure and get the salad with the house dressing. And I recommend a steak. I am sure currently this place is not what it was back in the day, but to step back in time is truly a great experience. Buy some vintage clothes and go enjoy that experience.

The length of the wait is not compensated for by the quality of the food. And I like their food but it failed to make up for the half hour wait to place a Carryout order. Very disappointed this time.

Back in college, many things happened to me and around me. One of those things was living above a tv shop with quirky, loving people. Those quirky, loving people took me to Sparta one night for dinner. I as a college student, broke as I was, wouldn't refuse. So we head down to what would seemingly be a little "interesting" neighborhood and pull up to this understated looking place. Going inside you see the old charm of an Italian steakhouse. There is ample seating and also an actual bar, with the wooden bar cabinets. I immediately dart my attention to the drink menu. The drink specials are hilarious and crude. Ex) Sex on the Dryer, etc. I order a liquor drink and pasta with a steak. The steak is lovely and tastes great. The pasta, definitely up to my standards. Full to the brim, I believe that all cost me 20 bucks if I would have had to pay. All in all, a great experience.

I went here with my boyfriend about 2 weeks ago, and I have to admit, I was not amt on going here, especially after viewing the outside. But after actually going in and eating, I had a much different perspective. They say that the best restaurants are those hole-in-the-wall, local places, right? As far as the outside of the building goes, it looks run-down, lifeless, and it's hard to even tell that there is a restaurant inside. But the inside is somewhat classier, outdated, but classy. It wasn't busy, but it definitely wasn't empty. There were about 5-6 tables full of people there, and our server was outstanding the entire duration of our meal. She went ahead to tell us what she recommended, and joked around with us a bit. To start, we both ordered the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. NOT WORTH IT. It was $8.00 and we only received FOUR shrimp. If I go back, I am definitely not ordering that again. For our meals, I ordered the small filet, and my bf ordered the porterhouse. My steak was delicious, and it even came with a side salad, rice pilaf, and rolls. I'm usually not one to order steak in a restaurant either, so this was a big deal to me. The rice pilaf was good, but I was not a fan of the side salad...it was only cucumbers and lettuce. No cheese, no croutons, no nothing. I was kind of disappointed by that. I wouldn't say that this is my favorite place to go, but it's definitely worth giving a shot.

Sparta Steakhouse has been a Canton, Ohio landmark since 1968. Forget the franchise steak houses, this place will put them to shame on cut quality and preparation all the while having a better price. They also have a tremendous selection of seafood for a location far from any water. As long as Sparta is around those others won't get my business. Never a bad meal.

Excellent (and warm and friendly) service. Good drinks and bartending. Overall excellent dining experience and for Canton Ohio a good find.

Absolutely dreadful! My strip was tough and had no taste at all. There are some really fine restaurants in Canton but this sure isn't one of them. Try Baker's instead!!!!!! I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed in a meal. And it ain't cheap!

Great steaks and seafood. Bar service is fantastic with an assortment of available olive stuffings, novelty drinks, and a very well stocked bar. I've been going to Sparta for years, but usually get the filet. It is so tender that you can cut it with your fork. Sometimes they run a special appetizer with shrimp wrapped in prosciutto. If its on the list of specials when you go, go for it! Good, family run restaurant. You can't go wrong.

Bland is the word. Was extremely disappointed since this is considered a Canton institution. The porterhouse, though tender, was lifeless with no flavor at all. The Sparta fries were average at best. The salad was drowned in dressing (and I actually like a lot of dressing). Long lapses in service didn't help. I hate to say it, but I even prefer the chains to this.

My family has been eating here since I was an infant. We would spend every Friday night dining here for 10+ years. Now as an adult I enjoy taking my husband and 2 children. Best steaks around. I always get the chicken breast which is awesome. We have never had a bad meal or bad server. Off the beaten path and they do accept reservations. FYI I am 30+ years old and still like it as much as I remember as a child.
