Visited this restaurant while travelling on I80/90. We ordered Palak-Paneer and Dal Tadka as take away. Both were deliciously good. We had Mango Lassi also at this place which was also good. The lady at front-desk was very nice and polite.

I was a little worried when visiting Bombay Star after reading some of the Yelp reviews but we decided to try it as it is our only Indian option near our house in Poland. If it has been bad, we were looking at a drive down to Cranberry every time we want Indian so my fingers were crossed! As it turns out, my fears were mostly unwarranted. My husband and I shared the combination platter that started with a choice of soup and then chicken tikka, choice of lamb or chicken curry and a veggie korma and a side of naan. I was not a fan of the chicken tikka as I thought it was a bit bland but the curry and korma were both quite good. Was it the best Indian I have ever had, "no" and it was not as good as what I had at Himilaya in Cranberry but given it is only 10 minutes away and we are used to eating Indian several times a month, I am definitely a fan! Hoping to stop by to try the lunch buffet as it looks like it is quite large and I am anxious to try their other dishes.

I have tried repeatedly to like this restaurant. I am currently sitting in Bombay Star and it never gets any better it's not anywhere near good. I got my food and it was ice cold (refrigerator cold) I asked if I could please have it microwaved and the "hostess" disappeared into the kitchen. Its been 8 minutes since I have seen my plate. I am not sure how this place stays open. There is never anyone here. She just slammed my plate down. I thanked her and she ignored me...so I repeated myself staring her in the eye. She grunted you're welcome. I feel so welcome here. NOT. Did I mention Indian food is my favorite thing in the world? Not THIS Indian food. It's like frozen tv dinner quality. I won't give them ANOTHER try. After a couple dozen times I shouldn't be surprised. From now on its a drive to Niles or Pittsburgh. Bombay Star is just awful.

As an Indian from the dc metro area, I expect more from Indian restaurants. The food was ok quality, decent portions for the chicken tikka masala, pricing seemed a bit high for the area. Especially since naan is not included with karahi dishes but is charged $2. But then again this is Youngstown, there's not much going on out there in terms of ethnic food. So they don't really have to try to make the food awesome. It's not a good representation of Indian food. Buffet is alright... Same stuff sitting out there for hours. Try Bombay curry and grill in niles. It's definitely better.

Nice buffet selection. Very good. Has improved since last time we were there when the new owners had just taken over. Definitely going back.

BEST IN TOWN!!! Food was great and service is excellent and super fast. It is true that everything here is per order although you do get large portions and most of the dishes come with rice. The food is as flavorful as can get and you do get the choice of choosing the level of spice between mild, medium, or hot. The lunch buffet is also super awesome and features some of the most popular dishes. Overall this place is a must try and one of the best restaurants in the area.

Awesome dishes! Their chicken saag is very tasty! My boyfriend had never tried Indian food in his life and now recommends this place to everyone, especially if they love spicy food! I like how you can choose from mild, medium, hot, and Indian hot to adjust to your liking. Will definitely order again!

I learned after eating a very disappointing lunch that this restaurant has recently changed owners. The food is nothing like it used to be. Bland watery and completely unremarkable. I actually walked out of the restaurant feeling a great sense of loss. My favorite restaurant in boardman and I will not be returning. Please ignore any reviews before 2014 there is not a single thing the restaurants food now shares with its past.

This was an unexpected find along the highway on the way home from Cleveland to Pittsburgh last night in the Youngstown area. I am not one to give 5 stars to places I have just visited once but if I have a couple more meals like I did last night, I would have to consider it seriously. We ordered vegetable korma, channa masala and onion naan. It was all spiced perfectly and the flavors were great. Sometimes Indian food can be too oily in restaurants. These were handled deftly. I thought there could have been bigger pieces of vegetables in the korma if I had to complain about something. I found a few bits of potato, peas and cauliflower but really had to look amidst the big pieces of unexpected paneer which I really didn't want to find anything resembling a vegetable. I guess it all broke down into a sauce. The dish was so tasty that I will give them a pass but would not order it again. I really thought the channa, rice and onion naan were perfection. They served us a bit of desert on the house to finish. The service was terrific and I can' t wait to come back and try some more.

As suspected, this once stellar restaurant has changed owners. We could tell right away something was different so after we dined last night I jumped online to investigate. They are skimping on everything. Our once loved dishes are now sub par. This is the second time our favorite Indian restaurant has changed owners only to end up really disappointed. We'll probably start going to Taj Mahal now regularly. Was never our favorite but far more superior to what these new people are serving up. So sad.

I enjoyed a wonderful, flavorful and perfectly spiced dinner at this Continental Indian restaurant. The channa masala is delicious, and the basmati rice and naan were both top quality. My one gripe is that the vegetables in the navratan korma were diced too small and there weren't enough of them. They also put paneer in this korma, which strikes me as gilding the lily a bit...do you really need cheese in a cream sauce this rich? Having said that, the flavors were terrific, so I didn't dislike it, just wished it were more to my taste. I haven't tried the lunch buffet here, but they leave the signs up on it when it's not in use, so I was able to see that the buffet looks like a rich bounty of both vegetarian and meat dishes. I'll be back for that for sure. Service is excellent and truly helpful.

I like this place a lot. I'll admit - I haven't eaten much Indian food in my time so I can't comment on this place's authenticity : But, I enjoyed my experience here, I enjoyed the food, and I even surprisingly enjoyed the atmosphere. Yes it is located in a strip mall, but somehow this place is quite charming. The owner of the restaurant and staff were quite attentive to myself and my friend. The food was tasty. I'd go back again.

The food was okay, but very disappointed with this Indian restaurant. Went for the lunch buffet, which had limited selections which weren't impressive. Lighting was very poor making it difficult to see what food was available. Very unhappy with the chicken dishes, half of the chicken in my servings had either grisle or bone in it, yes bone! If you're looking for a great Indian restaurant I wouldn't recommend this place, but rather Bombay Curry and Grille in Niles. Have gone to the Niles location a handful of times and the food is always great, the chicken has never had grisle or bones in it either!

A little bland on the seasoning, but paneer so fresh it is squeaky! Lots of veggies in the pakoras and main dishes and good, quick service.

We tried our second meal last night at Bombay Star and it confirmed our first experience - ICK! As long time lovers of Indian cuisine, who have lived most of our lives far from areas large enough to support an Indian restaurant, we recognize good Indian food, but are willing to accept pretty much anything. This was terrible. Additionally, much of what we were served was just left over from previous meals (dried out, reheated, tasteless). Don't waste your money. Pittsburgh and Cleveland have plenty of good alternatives.

Solid food, service is ok. This is very good Indian food, not the best you will ever have but I suppose it's a good start for a region that doesn't venture much into other cultures cuisine.

Having lived in India all my life and then coming to Youngstown to get my education, I "used to" miss Indian food more than my family members. There were no Indian restaurants in town and not having a car didn't make things any easier. Bombay Star was a Godsend for my friends and I. I went there more than 10 times in the first two weeks that they were in business. The food is authentic, one of the best I have tasted in America. If you are a fan of spicy food, make sure you tell them to make it "Indian Hot". They have everything from Indian appetizers, to vegetarian and non vegetarian sections and dessert. I love their tandoori (stuffed baked in a charcoal/clay oven) menu. They have an all you can eat buffet for lunch everyday so I go there often with my colleagues. All in all, a MUST try.

Excellent food, friendly service, and more baskets of naan on your table at lunch than you'll know what to do with. The lunch buffet is awesome--different things every time I go (and I go for lunch a lot). The buffet setup is crowded, though--lots of bumping into other people. That's really the only problem with this place, though. Fabulous that there's finally (good!) Indian food in Youngstown!

This place is fantastic. We're fortunate to have some delicious Indian food in Youngstown. On my first trip here, I ordered saag gosht, which is lamb meat in a creamy and spicy spinach sauce. The meat was succulent, and the sauce was so savory I nearly wiped my plate clean. The entrees are served with a heaping pile of basmati rice for the table, which goes fantastically with the food. We ordered paneer pakoras for our appetizer, which were essentially cubes of cheese dipped in chickpea batter and fried. These weren't as delicious as I was expecting them to be, but they weren't bad. On my second visit, I ordered lamb vindaloo. This consisted of cubes of lamb meat and potatoes in a spicy and creamy curry sauce. As before, the meat was so tender it melted in my mouth, and I made sure to eat every last morsel of the sauce. We ordered mixed vegetarian pakoras for an appetizer, which consisted of cheese and different types of vegetables battered and fried. These were deliciously spiced, and went great with the various chutneys and dipping sauces that are brought out to your table. To cap off how awesome this place is, they always give you a free desert of rice pudding after your meal. The service is very friendly and fast, and I've heard they offer a lunch buffet, which I am hoping to try on my next visit here. Bottom line: you must try this restaurant.
