I came for their buffet at lunch time. We were greeted by great smiling waiter and seated right away. They were offering about 10 different dishes which fulfilled my expectations more than enough. I had - fried appetizers of 2 kinds made with veggies and dough, - basmati rice, - tandoori chicken, - chicken tikka masala, - fried califlowers & red peppers with soya or teriyaki sauce, - paneer & peas masala, - green lentil soup, - frshly baked naan that was brushed with butter on top - the famous Indian desert with brown balls in heavy syrup They also offered - lettuce salad, - indian pickles, - yogurt sauce with cucumbers as a dressing for salad, - fruuits, - indian tea. I believe they had more that I could not remember to list here. The tandoori chicken was made from thighs and drum sticks, which are the best part of the chicken for tandoor. They were well coked and juicy enough with little savory flavor which made them more delicious. The chicken tikka masala was perfect with creamy and delicious. The fried cauliflowers had a little sweety taste and a little hot spicy taste that made me guess that they could be a Chinese recipe rather than Indian. I will look forward to them at my next visit. All in all, every dish was great and I could be happy to have my lunch with any of those choices alone. For $10, what lunch options can compete with such a great buffet? It was a fast feast in an hour. I only wish that they could offer a smaller lunch for a smaller fee. For example, naan, rice, one chicken dish and one veggie for $5.99 with one of the salad, desert or drink, for example, with take out option would be great. No matter what, I cannot wait for my next visit.

When I entered in the restaurant, I asked him do you use coloring in the food. He said no but tomato pastes they use may have color. I told him that i know the curry color when tomato sauce is used. Please do not add more artificial colors. Then I ordered paneer makhani. They delivered roti and for next half hour I waited for my curry " paneer makhni" which was not delivered. When I asked him when the curry would be delivered. He said that you did not order any curry. Later on he told me that should have eaten the roti first. I will bring the curry later. I asked him "have you eaten roti first and then eaten curry". He said I am from Bangladesh. I asked him do you understand English ? He said yes. I do not understand about service in this place. I am new in this city. People open Indian restaurant and then put those people to take order who have no idea about Indian food. After 10 minutes he brought paneer makhani with red color added. Food coloring is carcenogenic. Always eat food with zero coloring. Save you health.

I love their food, their curries really are the best locally. Same goes for the naan. And, they are family friendly. It's nice to be able to take your young kids to a nice restaurant (water goblets, white table clothes, linen napkins and candles). A great way to introduce young kids to proper table etiquette. Thank you to the staff for letting our family 'practice'!!

This place is so neat. Today was my first time here. The food was amazing. There are so few Indian places in the area and it was such a nice change. The staff was friendly and the decor was very ambient and different. I really enjoyed my experience here and will most definitely be back.

We have never been to the Saffron Patch and decided to try it last night. We waited several minutes to be seated even though there were several open tables. After being seated the women behind us made a comment to the woman busing tables about the slow service.During our 10+ minute wait (never even offered a beverage) we didn't see anyone get food from the kitchen and saw lots of tables waiting to be waited on or served food. We ended up leaving. Not sure what the problem was last night but the kitchen appeared to be non-existent and there was a severe shortage of servers. Not sure if they will get a second chance.

Very Good northern Indian food. I am a huge fan of good indian grub. This place has a relaxing atmosphere to it with fresh white linens on the table. I love the vegetarian options they serve even though I am not vegetarian. My favorite is the mutta Paneer and Fried Apps. The mango chicken is really nice as well. During Lunch buffet, they serve Chia as well so GOOD!

We drove from Canton to this place after hearing so much about it. And when we came out we were literally angry at ourselves for making such a bad decision. Ambience - a really dated place with an average layout. Food - cooked in horribly stale, smelly oil. In the tandoori platter got a burnt keema samosa, when complained we were replaced with another burnt one with the burnt parts of it scratched off this time. Lamb tikka masala was average. The worse was naan! Stinked with that machine oil they had put on it. It's like going to an American dinner and getting served mashed potatoes that are outright horrible. It was annoying! Price - for the quality and taste of food it's was overtly priced but the quantity was good. Service - Good I bet Choolah, Jaipur junction and Bombay sitar are beyond comparison they are so good in front of this crappy SP. They are all in Cleveland-Canton area, save your health and money go there if you really want to eat the real Indian food.

This place was highly recommended to me, so i'm hoping that this evening was just an aberration, and not the norm. We got there before 6:30, place was not crowded, were seated immediately. After 15-20 minutes, was starting to think that we were in the "dead zone". Nice lady took our order -- nothing complicated: 1 lamb vindaloo (hot), 1 tandoori malai kabob (mild), Kashmiri naan, 1 mango lassi, 1 sweet lassi. When the food finally got to us, the malai kabob was fine, and a large portion. Problem was, it had more spice than the lamb vindaloo. Eh?? Had to ask at least twice for our lassi; the mango was very good, but the sweet was missing the rosewater. And finally, the naan was scorched. Saw at least 8 people working the tables, but didn't seem to be coordinated. Am hoping it was just a case of someone calling in sick, or somebody new in the kitchen. Still want to try the lunch buffet -- HAS to be better than Raj Mahal!

One of the best Indian food ive had in quite a while. I would have given 5 stars for the food alone. The food really was excellent, but the service was a little rough, there it went .. one star gone. It was a busy wednesday evening, but it was still not an excuse for the server to get flagged down by the customers. We sat at our table unacknowledged for a full 10 min. One of our parties had to wave to get our server's attention and to let her know that we were ready to order. After we ordered, we had to wait for another long while, but when the food came, we all just ate in silent. We ordered goat curry, chicken makhani, chicken biryani, bhindi tawa masala, and paneer tikka masala. Everything was really good and full of flavor. We all agreed that bhindi tawa masala was the best dish of all. It was so flavorful and the spice level (3) was just right. Goat curry was also excellent. Goat was quite tendet. Our least favorite would have to be paneer tikka masala. It was good, but not that flavorful when compared with others. The rice in chicken biryani could have been a bit softer too. All in all, food was excellent. The service still has room for improvement though.

Huge fan of this place until they moved across the lot. The atmosphere was lost and the service was not good. I also tried it a second time after they moved just in case, and it was even worse. I got takeout and the for a Wednesday night being dead I was told it would only be 25 mins for the food. I had to wait almost an hour and the girl at the front didn't seem to care about patrons coming in and didn't greet anyone. I watched her pick up menus and expect people to follow. They also had no music playing either time. It was almost dead silent. I miss how it use to be. Now it's cold and not inviting.

I love the food here. There are not as many Indian restaurants in the area but this one is definitely my favorite. Indian food tends to be very spicy but here they let you choose your spice level. As someone who doesn't have a big tolerance that is very helpful and if you order a low level, it is actually not spicy. The service was very friendly and caring. It tends to take some time before the waiter reappears but this fits the Indian culture and personally doesn't bother me. I have been here with one of my Indian friends who confirmed that the food is very authentic as well.

Drove 30 mins to eat here for lunch and their poor service is demonstrated by the hostess saying we closed early even if the hours outside their restaurant and on yelp states they are open!!! Very poor service.

Found the service here very good. Had the Chicken Makhani at one spice level below Indian hot and found it perfect for my tastes...a great amount of heat while still being flavorful. They gave us plenty of rice, which I often find lacking at other places. Overall I was very happy with the overall experience and will return on my next visit.

The food is usually great. But don't come here if you are under any time constraint. Only a few tables in dinning room during lunch on a Wednesday. Waited 10 minutes to be greeted at the door just to be told by the host to give her a few minutes as she ran away. Came back and got my order and apologized for the wait. I was reaching In my wallet to give her a tip for my take out order and she was already gone again! It doesn't matter how good your food is when the service is lacking so much for a quick lunch take out. I can't imagine how many customers walk out the door like I should have after the first five minutes. Hopefully this is an isolated incident. I will come back again and give them another chance... Probably....

Great Indian food. Reasonable prices. Service was good. I saw a number of negative comments about the service. They were extremely friendly and pleasant and helpful. When it got busy, we had to wait a little bit here and there. But nothing extreme. I really think they did a good job I had a very positive experience and would highly recommend.

This is my second review in 6 months. Tried it again, it just isn't the same. I am not sure if they switched chefs or what, but my butter shrimp was bland at spice level 3. I am not a spice person - franks red hot is tasty hot by me, so 3/5 spice should be very tasty. The waiters are always apologetic about the chefs and always note a language barrier issue. It will be a long time before I go back to this Saffron Patch.

My wife is a huge fan of this place but this was my first time. I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't really impressed either. We went with some tandoori chicken and a biriyani. The chicken was fine but the brought out the wrong dish for the biriyani. They fixed it quickly and the server was fantastic. Overall, I felt it was fairly average Indian food at above average prices. I wouldn't not go again if someone wanted but I don't think I would choose to go again.

Yummy kacchi lamb biriyani and a generous owner make saffron patch a warm and fuzzy place to visit. Among the best lamb biriyani I have had, easily.

Dining room was impressive. Love that it made me feel like I was somewhere else! Food was good. Cheese Naan was awesome. Portion may seem small in the brass bowl but actually decent and will fill you up ;) Our server was very attentive. Had a good overall experience. Would come back.

Just went back for the lunch buffet. It was very bland and offered very little selection. I know that a buffet will not be as good as ordering off the menu, but given my past experiences with this restaurant, I expected better than this. Hopefully, it was a new cook or something.

  • Marty R.

Food is always fantastic, whether it's the buffet or off the menu. I've never had a bad meal here at all. I love the chicken tikka masala, biryani, and the vegetable pakodas. They honor heat-spice level requests and have always been spot on. I agree that the service is sometimes hit or miss, but it's more often a hit and not in any way bad enough to knock down the rating. The new location is definitely a different ambiance; while it's larger, it's also a lot darker and a little more somber than the old location.

  • Nolan S.

I haven't been here in about a year (before they moved across the street). First off, the location and atmosphere are much better now. Also, from what I remember, I think their prices actually dropped a bit. The food was absolutely great (as it always has been). And the service was the best I've received in a long time. I will definitely be back again.

I absolutely love this restaurant! I always go for the lunch buffet, so it doesn't really matter to me how attentive the servers are. At least on the weekdays, the price is low for the buffet ($10) and has a wide range of delicious foods that represent Indian cuisine quite well. Also, Saffron Patch has the best rice pudding I've ever eaten. Soon, they are moving next door to a larger banquet hall, so perhaps the menu options will expand with them!

The food is awesome. Good for family or a date. The service, however, is occasionally terrible. It really depends on who you get as your server. Hopefully you don't get Pennie as your server. We were seated 10-15 minutes before she took our order, never came back for drink refills, had someone else bring out food, and sat there for a long while before she came to bring a box and the check. Not to mention she looked stoned out of her mind. Everyone but our server was attentive to us.

The naan bread is outstanding and the entrees I have had have all been quite good. Atmosphere is relaxed and cozy as there is not a large amount of seating. Friends from India have said that the food here is relatively authentic. Be careful of the spice level that you request. They have a 1-5 scale and 5 is quite hot. Many of the entrees are served such that you can share if you so choose. This is another place that we will return for many future visits.

I really like Saffron Patch. Are they perfect? No. Are they good? Absolutely. One of the biggest complaints I often have with ethnic restaurants is the consistency. Some places, you go in and have an amazing meal. So you take a couple of friends back there, and it ends up being terrible. I don't know if SP hasn't changed cooks, or if they are just consistently good, but....I'll take it. I have found, regardless of what I order, that I am continuously happy with my choice. The chicken makhami is a staple for any Indian food lover, and theirs is quite good. I'm a big fan of their 'assorted platter' as a meal (mainly because I like trying lots of little things), and their karahi chicken is *almost* comparable to the one made by a Pakistani friend of mine. The naan is light and fluffy with a crispy exterior. I have a secret guilty pleasure for their garlic naan even though afterwards, I'm not fit to be around (but I loooooooove garlic. I can't help it, it's a character flaw). I also love and adore their paneer dishes (except the shahi paneer....it makes me gag). The cheese is chewy and flavorful, and if you get the palak paneer, your taste buds will dance and sing. I don't know why I never get dessert when I'm there....Oh. Wait. No, I do. It's because I stuff myself full of naan and samosas and curries. I think I'm going to start ordering dessert first because I've never tasted any of them there....and now I must.

Lunch buffet is to die for. YUM! Really anything you get here is fantastic - but you must get their naan bread with your dinner. I can't think of anything else to say really... other than it's the best Indian food in NEOhio, and that I'm NEVER disappointed when I dine-in or take-out from Saffron Patch.

The food was good, but the service was bad. The server didn't pay attention to our table at all, and we had to call her every time we needed something. All orders were thrown on the table randomly even refills. My brother order a refill and she put it on my side of the table nonchalantly. She never asked us if we needed anything or if the food was good, while she did that to all the tables around us. I'm not coming back again because of the service. PS: our server was the lady with the stinky looks.

I first frequented Saffron Patch four years ago with a friend and we both enjoyed the selection of food offered at the buffet table. My daughter and I recently went there since she had never been there before and we both had a good experience. The food was flavorful and hot, just the way we like it! The service was on the slow side, but we still had a good experience. We loved the naan, the Chicken Curry and the soaked donut-type dessert! We are looking forward to coming back sometime in the near future.

First time I went food was 5 star worthy. Second time not so much, I was given raw rice and my chicken tikka marsala was luke warm not hot. Also the second time they made my group wait 30-45 minutes before seating us then sat us at a table that had been empty the entire time. Other than that the food was good, naan was amazing.

This restaurant looked like a very cozy, romantic place to have dinner, however, only stopped in for take out as my sister recently moved near by. Staff were friendly and prices were reasonable, if not a little on the high side for Indian cuisine. We ordered a feast to bring back to our family. Non-vegetarian appetizer platter, Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala with an order of naan bread. Lamb samosa was very good and reminded me very much of eastern-African samosas that I've had before with no vegetables, just meat. Tandoori Chicken was also very tasty. Chicken Tikka Masala was a little different than I'm use to as it didn't have that rich, creamy flavor, but nonetheless, it was decent and satisfying. I'm used to that "wow" factor with this dish and this didn't meet the mark, but it was good. Next time I will try something new. Looks like they have a very nice bar, complete with Limoncillo. We didn't have any, but the desserts sound very tasty. Menu looked very complete and will gladly try this place again when I'm in town. While waiting for our food on a Saturday night and observing the activity, it might be a good idea to call ahead for reservations.

I can't get enough of this place! I have tried several other Indian Cuisine restaurants and nothing compares to Saffron Patch. We usually go for lunch to take advantage of the buffet, but have been a few times for dinner and it's still awesome! I agree with a lot of the other reviews, that it's over priced. Also, the last couple times we have been there the service was slow and have made my friends and I come less often. As awesome as the food is and as much as they charge, you would expect better service. The Naan is to die for! The atmosphere is cozy but can get cramped if the place gets busy.

Drove 30 mins to eat here for lunch and their poor service is demonstrated by the hostess saying we closed early even if the hours outside their restaurant and on yelp states they are open!!! Very poor service.

Good service. Good food. Good atmosphere. Portions are big enough to share between two.
