I say "bah" to the haters. I live a neighborhood over and this is my go-to place for Chinese take-out. I have never had a poor food experience, never cold, never a wrong order. I have not eaten in the restaurant so I cannot comment on that, but take out is always good. I can recommend the beef with bean sprouts, Mongolian beef, and both the hot and sour soup and wonton soup. My husband always has good things to general tso chicken and the egg rolls. Sure, the customer service is not stellar, but in my opinion the food makes up for the lack of warm and fuzzies from the staff.

Worst service EVER. Owner is a complete A-HOLE. Was told that delivery would be 45 to an hour. I called after an hour and was told they were making my food right now and would be another 10 minutes. Told them to cancel my order and was told won't do that. No customer people skills. The people taking the order over the phone can't understand English and have to keep repeating the order. The bourbon chicken was suppose to be good but ended up being chicken jerky. Not a whole lot of meat but a whole lot of burnt. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EAT THERE. Would like to give them 0 stars but you must have at least one.

This is the worst place ever. Do you want your food prepared with hate, in disgusting grease that should've been changed months ago? Then this is the place for you. Otherwise, you should definitely drive a quarter mile down the road to Chin's Place instead. If the mediocre-to-gross food isn't enough to turn you away, then you'll surely be dismayed by the employees shitty attitudes and complete lack of interest for the customers that walk through their door. I wonder if they want to take my order, because instead of asking "How many I help you?" they're more likely to give you a rude, blind stare until you finally speak up for yourself. Seriously. Stop. Don't go here. You can get much better food at any other Chinese takeout in Akron. This place sucks.

If you're for looking for some Midwestern politeness, this is not your place. Owners don't conform to American customer-centric business vales. But screw the hokey "customer service crap" - you're here for tasty chinese food. The other reviews are spot on: the decor is nothing to write home about nor is the menu extremely diverse. With all that said, if you're looking for consistent and tasty (Americanized) Chinese food, you can't go wrong with Platinum Dragon.

Yuk. It apparently is a family run place. But they acted like they could of cared less that we were there spending our money. No thank you. No inquiry if we liked the food. And the food wasn't good. The grease needs changed. You could taste it even through the abundance of sauce. Not to be harsh because I know it is prob drunkards that visit there the most often. But the food wasn't good. We won't be returning. $24 down the drain. :(

i ust to order from here all the time. Until today there was an error with my order and then I called to clear this customer service issue up. He said that there was nothing he could do and then continued to blame me. He stated this issue was my fault. That I made a mess of things for him just trying to order. Also they charged me two delivery fees since it was separate orders going to the same building. I will not order from here again the not worth the money. Food is good but to have no respect for the customer when an issue comes up that is not good service.

Horrible service, COLD food and made us both sick all night (plus was over charged). Order placed at 8:00pm on a Sunday. Told it would be 40min to deliver less than 1/4mile away. Delivered around 10pm after making two calls to actually pick it up myself. Everything was COLD and soggy. Not only was the food horrific, it wasn't spicy at all and the items that were fried even smelled bad. I don't know if I will ever eat here again. Was up all night puking my guts out on this food. Next time I get COLD food I'm dialing the Akron City Health Dept. Totally unacceptable.

That five star rating applies to one dish and one dish only: bourbon chicken. The owner is a jackass, the service sucks, they're annoyingly slow. But dear G-d....I will slaughter babies for their bourbon chicken. I don't care if it's cat/dog/rat/whatever, the stuff is like crack.

We used to order food from here quite a bit and were very happy with the food and service. We hadn't in awhile and now I know why. When we got our order tonight they forgot two egg rolls, white rice and 2 dumpling sauces. To top it off they delivered after they closed so we couldn't complain. Just selfish. My advice...skip it. Go to House of Hunan...it's not that much further away and worlds better.

Very fast service. They messed up my order once but I still go back to them. They have cheap combos.

Ordered take out from the Platinum Dragon, when I arrived, a woman was gathering my order and looked in the container of food-she had a horrified look on her face and raised her voice to the cook who proceeded to "rinse" the food in question in a strainer?? Unless I'm nuts, there seemed to be something like a bug in the food and they were going to rinse it out. I also heard from a neighbor (that also supports local businesses) that they have been caught thawing chicken on the dumpster out back of their restaurant. I really wanted to give the local guy my business but I didn't stick around to eat rinsed out food that had who knows what in it?

I have written a few reviews of Chinese cuisine (read: I eat a lot of Chinese food) but this one, I feel will flow easily. I've lived a mile from Platinum Dragon for 7 years now and have heard people rave about how good the food is. I actually got into an argument with my sister the other day about the quality of the steamed dumplings being the best ever (didn't believe it when she told me, don't believe it now that I've had them) (btw - Chieng's Express on Portage in North Canton holds the title for me) - that's right folks, she felt passionately enough about the quality of the food here to argue that it was better food than a place she's never been to. It's all the talk of completely crazy people. You're all nuts and I was left feeling cheated! Is this some kind of Akron initiation routine? To the facts: the location is kind of cool - hip, urban - yet dingy - small storefront in Highland Square. The service is pitiful - seriously, the guy that took my order was a complete bag. The food was of low quality. There's no other way to describe it. We got the General Tso which was quite good. Per the glowing reviews we tried the Bourbon Chicken which looked good, smelled questionable and consisted of more fatty, gristly pieces than I've known a chicken to have. BBQ Spare Rib appetizer also smelled a bit gamey and was quite low quality cuts of whatever its land-roaming form was. Shrimp egg rolls were tasty as forecasted. Steamed pot-stickers were blah. I see the draw, honestly I do. It's a cool place that I, too wanted to be awesome. In the end, I ate leftovers. You've been warned.

This place used to be the the best place in Akron to get General Tso's chicken. But the last couple times the flavor has been marginal and the chickes was so tough that you could almost not eat it

Good food. Delivers. Horrible service lol. But if you can see past that for cheap, good chinese then this is the place. Also, the food comes out quite fast (if you eat in). Very small dining room. Still one of my favorites.

Don't eat here unless you want to spend all night throwing up. Ordered a small shrimp lo mein and spend an entire night and the next day with food poisoning. Enough said.

I lived within a few blocks of Platinum Dragon for a few years, and was once a loyal customer. The service was never good, quite the opposite in fact, the family that runs the restaurant often acts as if you are disturbing their personal space and time when you walk in the door and try and place an order. Don't be surprised if you witness yelling, fighting, massages, or other strange interactions behind the counter. When calling in a pick-up or delivery order don't expect any politeness or help. The small interior seating area is lit by unappetizing florescent lights and is frequently dirty, complete with leftover plates, silverware, and sticky tables. But, I was willing to overlook all this for years because of their reasonable prices, fast cooking, and decent take out food. Recently the quality of food has decreased and there is no longer any incentive to tolerate the numerous other elements that make Platinum Dragon a less-than appealing destination.

prob go twice a week, it is what it is Highland Square Yelp haters. for a restaurant the size of a city bus, the risk/reward can't be beat. prices are great, the food is admirable but necessarily predictable, and yes the woman putting your food in that to-go bag still thinks it's Cambodia 1975. cantankerous old girl fore sure. but at 930 on random week night when the wait is 15 minutes tops, and whatever show your waiting to watch is about to start... In and out. House fried rice is sooooo cliche. Yeah I get it. but theirs is awesome. Simple but awesome. Never walked away with a misplaced order or poor execution. It is what it is. neighborhood joint and a good one. just don't piss off the guy who runs your card if the back sig has rubbed off. this cat is serious about your id at this point. but he'll give u xtra hot mustard for the egg roll you didn't want, but somehow ordered it anyway. Chow. Ciao. what evs. Platinum is cool because it's not supposed to be...

I live and San Francisco, and love chinese food. Platinum Dragon is better than any delivery I ever get here, and there are a couple menu items I find unique at Platinum Dragon I never see anywhere. Egg Rolls - perfectly crisp, I don't usually care for egg rolls, but these are great with soy sauce added to them BBQ Pork Appetizer - I've never had anything quite like this anywhere. The slightly chew texture and perfect flavor are unparalleled. Surprising and unique. And a huge portion. Pork Fried rice - I always get mine without veggies, because I don't care for the frozen carrots and peas that dominate take out fried rice. this is no exception, but goes well with soy or sweet and sour sauce. Pork Low-Mein - absolutely perfect. The noodles are really done well, a great texture. I ask for it spicy and they bring it on. I've never had better anywhere, and I've tried it all over the country. Huge portion, but great leftovers. Pot Stickers - very, very solid, pan seared on one side with a nice dipping sauce. General Tso Chicken - another dish I've had everywhere, and Platinum Dragon's stands up very well. Crispy, with that savory, spicy, slightly sweet sauce. Hot Sour Soup - quite tasty, above average Wonton Soup - ditto Sweet and Sour Chicken/Pork - the chicken is kept separate from the sauce so it doesn't get soggy There are tables at Platinum Dragon, and I've eaten there a couple times. Service is always quick and friendly. For a couple years, I only got carry out - they had no delivery. It was always the same woman at the desk. I ate enough there that I saw her go through all stages of prenancy, and when I went back to visit one year, go t to see her little girl. When they added delivery, I ordered enough that they knew my order as soon as I started it. Platinum Dragon is solid, dependable Chinese food that rarely disappoints and can even surprise you.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
