Went here on Sunday night. The staff here is great. They are really friendly and definitely attentive. If I lived in Bushwick I'd probably wind up a regular here since the drinks are cheap & the food is pretty good. It's nothing amazing but definitely a good late night spot. Pros: Service Price Ginger Chicken Wings The Meh: Vietnamese Spring Rolls - these were a bit bland for me. I'm not a fan of peanut sauce in general so didn't really bother w/that. Cons: I can't think of any Overall with the laid back atmosphere, service & quality of food. I had a good experience.

Excellent food and prompt service. Came here for brunch when 983 was too packed. Fish and chips were amazing. Bloody Mary was good, if less spicy than I might have liked.

Planned on going to the Living Room but wanted to try something new and am glad my boyfriend and I stopped at Koda. Dan was our waiter and made our dinner experience really fun and enjoyable. He helped me navigate the menu to find something subtitle for me since I am gluten intolerant. I had the salmon (without the teriyaki) which was fresh. It came with grilled veggies and some super tasty coconut rice. We happened to be here during their early happy hour which is 5pm-10pm... It doesn't get better than that. The $6 spicy margs have the perfect hint of cucumber and I would highly recommend!

Nice, low key spot. Small but cute outdoor back area seating. The food is really good and their drinks are great. I suggest the tamarind martini available during happy hour. Always friendly service, too.

Pros: Cheap drinks and the people working at the bar are great. Bartender (didn't catch her name) was a sweetheart and very accommodating. She also made a mean pineapple vodka. The pork and miso noodles I ordered were good, nothing exceptional. Cons: Unfortunately, the burger my girlfriend ordered was severely undercooked. Singed on the outside but fire truck red along the edges and uncooked in the middle. We had to send it back, and the server (also our bartender) was apologetic. 15 minutes later, second burger was brought out...and shockingly it was exactly the same. At this point, we just said take the burger off our bill and close us out. The friendly bartender was again, very apologetic and courteous, even offering us a free round of drinks for our trouble. We declined because we didn't want to take advantage, but it was a nice gesture. We'll definitely be back for drinks, but might pass on the food.

Note: I'll update my review after eating there, as well as coming for drinks on a Friday or Saturday night, and checking out the patio. Pleasant Sunday evening experience with my roommate. Host immediately greeted us, and we chose to sit at the bar. Bartender Larry immediately greeted us and gave us full attention. He knew when we wanted to interject him into conversation, and even gave us a sampler of his signature apple gin drink (name to be determined). Laid back atmosphere, nice A/C on a summer night (but not too cold), good music choices. I'll be back.

Great at beer night and good margaritas. Also the staff are lovely. But I got sick after eating here

This place is quite hidden and you could easily walk by it and i recommend doing so. It is a dark and grungy place and our waiter was odd. He stood and watched us eat our meal and raced over to collect our food as soon as we finished. The atmosphere was unsettling. I was also not happy with my food, the burger was too thick and the wings were tasteless but the chips were great. However the prices are decent for food and drink.

Accidentally walked into this place on my way home on a Saturday. Not too crowded or empty with cheap strong drinks. Good waitstaff and food, plus a bathroom!!! Can't really go wrong with a place like this.

So, ok. There was nothing horrendous or disgusting here...but I have to say: I live around the corner and, convenience be damned I would absolutely not return. Problem 1: the menu is hand-written and photo copied on a diagonal, so reading it is not exactly a breeze. The menu options are not even separated out by size...so ordering an "appetizer" isn't really an option --- nor would I recommend trying. We asked for spring rolls as an appetizer and they arrived at the same time as the entrees. Problem 2: the food took for-effing-ever. There were mayyyybe three other couples ordering food while we were there. Not exactly a stampede in the kitchen. No excuse. And, not one of our two waitresses came by to check on us during the 40-minute wait. Problem 3: the food itself. It's cheap. So, at least I can't be mad about that. But the spring rolls were super dry, the flounder was craaaazy salty, and the beef curry tasted like someone accidentally dumped a tin of curry spices in the cookpot. Heavy handed and just not that enjoyable. But of course, by the time we got it we were starving. Problem 4: and my biggest complaint. Three of four staff members (waitresses and bar tenders) ordered food, had said food made, and sat down to eat in the dining room during our time there. At 7:30 on a Sunday night it just seems unprofessional. You can't eat in the kitchen or behind the bar? At least not to rub it in your patrons faces that they haven't been served but YOU have? C'mon. So....just spare yourself.

a owner that's constantly looming over the bar. That tactic makes bloodsnake very uncomfy. You better call Gordon Ramsey or John Taffer because god damn

Went here on a whim and had a pleasant time. The atmosphere was chill and cosy, the waitress was super super sweet and let us take our time and answered our questions. I am not a huge foodie, sorry, I'm hungry, I need to eat and I bring company to talk to and catch up with and relax. That's what I need and that's what I got. If I lived nearby I would return.

I have lived in Bushwick for 13 years so have seen the arrival of Life Cafe (and it's metamorphosis into 983), Roberta's, Momo Sushi, Wreck Room and Aracini Bros (and those magnificent rice balls), Tutus, The Narrows, Dear Bushwick and Fine and Raw, but yesterday afternoon when a friend and I walked into Koda on a lark for a bite and some World Cup, I practically danced a jig. The place is great. The cheeseburger I had was juicy and served on a potato bun with handcut potatoes--perfect in my opinion because it was simply a well made meal. No chef in the back trying to bring their own fancy touch to a staple. My friend had a grilled cheese sandwich with a basil-pesto sauce and was giddy as he ate it. James, the bartender, was awesome and was kind enough to make us fresh-squeezed lemonade..bonus points for customer service :-)

Sunday afternoon which is prime brunch time, the place advertises food and it took over 40 minutes for two burgers to come out. And there were very few people here so no reason for food to take that long. I won't be coming back again. And no one came to the table to take the order. After sitting for 10 minutes, we had to go to the bar to order food.

Great place to have a drink in Bushwick. Staff is nicer than almost anywhere else in the neighborhood, the vibe is always relaxed, and the drinks are affordable. What more could you ask for?

  • M. R.

Have eaten there twice and each time I had the amazing kale salad and then the $11! lemongrass pasta with chicken. The vibe is very chill and the garden is quiet and intimate. My friend had the po'boy sandwich and loved it. Everything was wonderful and I could see this restaurant becoming the next big Bushwick thing. Gotta make sure to try the desserts next time.

MUST try the spicy chicken wings!!! All the food is amazing and the bar is great but i am obsessed with the spicy wings. They are sweet spicy sour all in one go and extremely crispy. Best wings in the neighborhood. I get them at least once a week.

  • Cat C.

Food was poor quality. Service was less than par. Tabasco sauce was literally taken out of my friends' hands by the waiter for another customer mid pour supplemented by the question: "do you mind if I take this!?" Salt, pepper, and ketchup were not provided at the table and we felt like we had to trade our limbs to get some. After asking for coffee 2 times we decided to utilize the DIY method and got up to pour it for ourselves. It was really fun getting the bill because it took about 3 times asking to get it. Overall, shitty experience.

Don't understand the people below. This place was great. Amazing prices. 2 full meals and 4 drinks for $36. Everything was cooked perfectly, bartender was nice, cool decor. I'll probably go once a week.

worst dining experience i've ever had. a group of 6 of us were having a late new years day lunch. waited a total of 2 hours to receive our food, 45 minutes to even receive coffee(after requesting 3 times). server had to take two of our parties silverware away before we received our food for another table. made several requests that were either forgotten or ignored. food finally came out and was cold or undercooked. staff was slightly apologetic but the whole experience was absurdly bad, as if it was their first day in business. i would love to support this new business but based on todays meal it seems as if they truly don't care. AVOID!

I Tried their spectacular spicy wings and the french fries. Their wings are a must have...the only downfall is that they dont serve blue cheese with it or carrots/ celery but i overlooked that as soon as I bit into the deliciousness. Tried the tamarind martini and the spicy martini and both were very good. I have been here twice and their service is great...bartenders are very attentive.

Their grilled cheese is a must-try! It has pesto and sauteed onions on it! The food is very affordable, and higher quality than I expected for such low prices. The interior is relaxing, somewhat dimly lit, and the bar seats are comfortable. Casual and laid-back. The cocktails were accurately mixed, and the selection of liquor is adequate. The customer service was amazing here. The first bartender that served me even took the time to tell me his name (which I've since forgotten) and to let him know if I need anything. The second bartender who waited on me asked me how my food was, and was very cordial. It seems like the people who work here really enjoy their jobs. Both bartenders were prompt and gave service with a smile. I felt very welcome. I was there this past Sunday, in case the owner is reading this and wants to figure out who was working and commend them.

Mike and Larry are the best! They make some of the best drinks in the neighborhood. I have a great time everytime I'm here. The food is amazing too.

Great place that I will be happy to return to! Right now, this place isn't super crowded so we got sat immediately and had amazing service throughout from our waiter, Will. The $4 Founders Porter special was a great time and 2/$6 Yuengling is awesome. Loses one star for the pork being mostly tasteless but my friend says the Burger is quite good. Will definitely be back and will get the Burger. Great vibe and looking forward to them getting more specific with their decor as well.

I highly recommend going to Koda! By far my favorite spot in Bushwick. Super yummy food always, the burgers and fries are on point as well as the other entree items and everything else! The staff is friendly and inviting and I love spending time at Koda. I leave Koda feeling happy always and I love that. Turn up @ koda (:

This is the place to be. The food and drinks were great and their menu was on point. Our server Jeff was awesome, he made us feel at home. We met the owner Mario who is a down to earth person. Thanks for the round of drinks on the house Mario. This is going to be my new hangout spot. Love it!!!!! Cozy. Comfortable. Affordable. Bathrooms are a work of art. Go check it out.

Cheap beers, but awesome customer service. Jeff is the bomb*. But seriously you would think they would have shitty service with $1 beers on Wednesdays (2/$5 when it's not Wednesday) but every staff member is polite and thoughtful! Especially Jeff. Yas Jeff. *i did not know Jeff prior to this experience

Dollar beers on Wednesdays, fantastic bartenders, solid drunk food. Can't find a better hump day bar than this.

It's one of the best grill cheese place I ever had around my neighborhood! I like Koda for brunch cuz I don't have to wait to be seated on Sunday especially.

Brunch Cliff Notes: Food and drinks good AND reasoably priced. The staff is great. Its not stupid packed, so you can actually talk to your friends and actually have a conversation with your server. The Story: TBH I intially went in because next door was unnessarly packed. Ive been there many times and I would not say the food nor the enviroment is worth waiting for. Ive been to koda for drinks a few months ago but never thought of it as a place to eat brunch. The food is good and reasonaly priced. The service was the best part. The bartender and the server were both charamsmatic and attentive. Koda has definitely earned themselves 2 repeat customers (money allowing).

Pro: Good food, one hell of a veggie burger and solid fries. SUPER nice people working here, hip bartender and nice server. Con: I had an overall bad experience with my meal. We waited 30 minutes for 2 appetizers, one of which couldn't be made due to a lack of lettuce, making us wait longer. Our food came out and my mate got the wrong order. It's unacceptable for a waiter to screw up the order if he/she is confident enough to not write it down. So we all waited another 10-15 minutes for his food to come out. And wolfed it down because we were so behind schedule. Then the worst part being the manager aggressively coming and sitting at our table asking who gave the one star review. Trying to explain the plumbing mix up in the bathroom, but dodging the review about the service and food. It all seemed a little strange and very uncomfortable. He offered to comp some of the meal, but By that point all I wanted was to leave.

The food here is AMAZING ! I actually have only had delivery (twice) and both times the food was incredible. So my husband and I had : 1. The fish and chips which were perfectly crispy 2. Pan seared pork chop with whipped parsnips which was off the hook 3.Carrots, brussels sprouts , and garlic 5. Fish sandwich 6. The Spring Rolls. Okay, the spring rolls were actually not good AT ALL. They were dry and bland. The rest of the food was so good that I still felt this place deserved 5 stars. Both times I got delivery the delivery guy was so nice and thanked us for the generous tip. We ordered delivery in bad weather both times so we more than doubled our tip. I'm looking forward to visiting this place in person. I'll update my review if anything changes

Popped over here with some lady friends after dinner at Living Room on Friday night. I can't comment on the food at all, but the cocktails are my new favorite in town. They have pumpkin vodka!!!! Much to the dismay of my friends, I ordered a pumpkin vodka, with sprite and a cinnamon stick (because I'm an adult) and it tasted exactly like pumpkin pie!!!! One friend had a much more mature pumpkin old fashioned and the other had a fancy jalapeno drink. We were in cocktail heaven! The bartender was really friendly and accommodating, even throwing a little flair in there. The music was great, not too loud but fun, and we got a little nervous when we saw a dj setting up since we didn't want any mood killers, but he was great! Not too loud, loungy kinda vibe. I was into it!

Ugh..... What a drag. Please take me and other yelpers advice and stay the fuck out of this spot. "We don't have any lettuce" is not an excuse for an appetizer going unmentioned for 30+ minutes. Stupid place. One of those places you had to convince yourself that you liked. No hot water in bathroom. All around bummer.
