This whole neighborhood is a dud on Wednesday nights, but I came here to meet a friend of mine's brother... Corona, is the beautiful Irish bartender that patiently waited on us all night.. What a doll. Drinks are priced for a more pretentious version of Manhattan. Didn't eat here. Place was empty. if you are in the area, and want steak, then why not try it? ... -_-

BV's Grill overall score: 84 I picked up a discounted Groupon for this place. I paid about $60 and got $100 off the bill. Check out the review: Flavor: 8 The rib eye here was really nicely done. I was almost going to give it a nine here but I decided to go with eight because there was a bit too much scrap on the plate when I was finished. Nicely cooked, well rested, juicy, tender, flavorful and all that good shit. Check it out: My wife ordered the BV Burger, so I had the rare opportunity to kill two birds with one stone here: burger and steak in the same review. It was nicely cooked to medium, with a thick slice of lightly grilled white onion on top of the melty cheddar. The bun was soft yet strong, and the meat had a nice beefy flavor. It was definitely above average, and a very good deal for $17 with fries, in my opinion. Here's the cut. Review cut for length

Great dinner in the city. Really nice and relaxing indoor space (plus a great patio which we didn't want to wait for). Had our eight-month-old with us and they didn't make us feel bad for having him along. The steaks were fantastic. So was the basket of bread they gave us.

The food was pretty good-- but we tried it when it first opened... so it might have gotten better. The service was good. Overall it was a little expensive for what we got-- but the inside is beautiful and if the consistency of the food evens out and the prices even out, then I'd say it would be a great location to bring large groups or even parties.

I have been to this spot several times over the years with a friend of mine who lives in the area. More recently it changed ownership and was renamed BV's Grill (formerly Enduro). The space is quite large, very spacious, very clean. Sadly, because of its location, slightly off the beaten path, it tends to be less busy. I bet with a good after work or happy hour crowd it could be a lot of fun. That said, the service has always been strong. Most recently I was there for dinner on a Sunday evening. We chose to sit in the bar area at a high top table rather than in the regular restaurant section - where they boast a giant window into the cavernous, gleaming kitchen. Our server was the manager as the restaurant was rather quiet. He seemed very old world steakhouse - raspy voice from likely having smoked since he was 13 - strong accent - no nonsense attitude. He was great. Made me a bloody mary that knocked my socks off - and was "from scratch" - something we ended up talking quite a bit about. The food has been consistently tasty and that night was no different. We split a salad to start (they split it for us in the kitchen which was nice) and both had the burger. That thing is a monster! Huge, juicy, flavorful and served with fries. Can't go wrong with that one. I hope in time people discover this place as it has a lot of potential. In the warmer weather, they have a good amount of seating out on the patio, also a plus.

What's a BV Grill? I asked the gent who selected this venue for our late lunch meeting. The space looked familiar; deja vu moment. "I'll have the steak sandwich but lose the onions and add provolone cheese" I said to my awaiting waiter. "How about cheddar?" he said. "How about Swiss? I said. "Coming right up" he replied. A little mid afternoon dancing with the garcon I thought. The sandwich arrived. Wow. Best steak in a sandwich I ever had. The bread, not so much. Change the bread and the sandwich would be elevated to great from excellent. There really wasn't any room left for anything other than the homemade donuts. "Garcon!" "Oui monsieur." "Donuts and double-espresso s'il vous plaît." Three donuts arrive in the knick of time and they were delicious. "Garcon, l'addition s'il vous plaît" i asked. "Oui monsieur" he promptly replied. Upon collecting the check the waiter turns to me and asks: "Why are you speaking to me in Frenglish?" I just sat there looking puzzled...

I am re-posting my Enduro review now that it has become BV grill: Great spot...I have been coming here since it opened last year. The food is tasty and consistent. My favorites are the burger, any of the salads, the lobster roll, and the drinks (they make great martinis and bloody marys). I have tried many things there, and I would say the only thing I have tried that I didn't love was the crab cake. The staff is very friendly and I love the atmosphere. It is nice and spacious. It's lively without being too loud, and the decor is simple and elegant. Overall a nice experience

Three tables in a huge restaurant on a Sunday evening and the manager can't be bothered to respond to a simple problem that requires attention. 20 minutes later and he is still chatting at the (mostly empty) bar. I guess the food must make up for it. Or not. We'll never find out.

Disclaimer: Any place that has a huge outdoor seating area and welcomes dogs is AUTOMATICALLY 4.5 stars to us. BVs has an awesome location just a block from our apt. The outdoor seating area is huge and you never have to wait longer than 5 mins for a table. I have been here during the week for happy hour and also on the weekends, and both are equally great. Happy hour: There are usually 2 hosts. There is a gentleman with dark hair I have seen there every time. He has to be one of the most friendly and welcoming people I've met. A waiter had informed me all the empty outdoor tables were reserved, so I was fine planting myself at the huge bar waiting for my friend. The host quickly sought me out and let me know he would be setting me up at an outdoor table in just a few minutes. HUGE service points for BVs! A couple draft beers about $8 each, and we were able to enjoy the evening air. No rush from our waiter and no guilt trip about not ordering food. They were packed and super busy, but we were able to grab our server whenever we needed new drinks. They have an enormous rectangular shaped bar inside as well as 2 large dining areas, and there are some open walls which give it a quasi outdoor feel. Will definitely be back for more happy hours. Weekend Dinner: We planted ourselves at an outdoor table with the dog at about 8pm on a Sat. Not nearly as packed as Happy hour- 1/3 of the crowd, but the place is big so still plenty of people. Majority of outdoor tables were full. We ordered a couple whiskey drinks and struck up a conversation with a really chill couple next to us. Our server (same one from happy hour) was great. After a few drinks, we settled into a very leisurely meal. We ordered our first round of oysters, then a 2nd round as well as the cheese board which was HUGE. It had a great selection and lots of fresh fruit as well. They also put down a bread basket with mixed varieties of breads and crisps which went wonderfully with the charcuterie . We were really being slow, enjoying the warm night and chatting with the couple next to us. We didn't place our order till about 9:40 since the kitchen closes at 10. Our server was awesome (shaved head, can't recall name). Not once did he rush us, but was always available when we needed him, and lots of servers and busboys offered to bring water for the dog. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and our server told us even though the kitchen closed at 10, we were more than welcome to enjoy the outdoor tables as long as we liked. Along with a few other tables, we shut the place down at 11. Entrees were a chicken caesar salad and the filet. The chicken in the caesar salad was the only, very small, disappointing thing all night. It was just really plain, no grill marks or seasoning, even salt. The filet was cooked perfectly, better than some high end steakhouses in NYC, and the Bernaise on the side was nice. We had the roasted cauliflower and mushrooms as sides, and the cauliflower in particular was great. This will be one of our official go-to places this summer!

Went here for our anniversary and loved it. Professional wait staff, great drinks, great food made from scratch (the creamed spinach and the mashed potato sides are just fabulous). I had the Dutch Oven Chicken and my husband had the steak special. Loved them both. There is outdoor seating and it's usually crowded. The bar area is beautiful and a good place to meet for drinks. It is on the expensive side but within normal steakhouse range. We plan to go there again.

Came here with the boyfriend with a groupon deal- $65 for $100 off the bill... If I was in the neighborhood again I would come back and pay full price. We loved it! Many restaurants in Manhattan pack you in like sardines, and a party of 2 will be seated like 6 inches away from other parties- not here! 8pm on a Saturday night and they gave us a big, round booth, which felt luxurious and romantic :) The rest of the restaurant floor looked nice and spacious as well. I got the fish special which was blackened Mahi Mahi- so good, it exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend devoured his skirt steak and especially loved the chipotle mashed potatoes it came with. We got creamed spinach, mac and cheese (SO GOOD!) and a baked potato the size of a football. You definitely get your moneys worth on the sides as the portions are bigger than other steakhouses. Our waiter was nice and so was the maitre'd who carried our drinks from the bar to the booth for us. With all that food plus our drinks, we only paid like 10 dollars plus a tip after the groupon, which is awesome. Prices are totally on par with the quality of the food and any similar place in Manhattan. Go!

Ok, this is it. Bobby Van's cuisine in an open air arena. BV's has outdoor seating that the other locations lack. What is consistent is the menu. Appetizers of oysters Rockefeller, mussels marinara an meatballs are the way to start. Lobster oregenata is a great segway into the main course. And now for the main course. Bone in filet mignon. Done to perfection at BV...sides of Mac n cheese and cream spinach round out a meal at BV's in a great way.

I pass by BV grill on 56th street on my way to work every day. I came across a Groupon for dinner, so I decided to try it out. I made reservations via Opentable for 6 PM on a Thursday night. We arrived at 6 and were seated right away. The manager was also nice enough to take my Groupon as we were seated so I wouldn't have to worry about it later when the check came. There weren't many people dining, as it was still early. There seemed to be a crowd around the bar for happy hour perhaps, but they were not noisy at all. It was nice because we could actually have a conversation without shouting. They also have a nice dining area outside on their patio area. We ordered Chicken Wings to start. They were amazing! I would say these wings were the best I've ever had. The Chili Remoulade sauce was also good, but to be honest the wings were delicious as is. For the main entree I had the Filet Mignon and my SO had the Lobster & Crab Chopped Salad. The steak was cooked to perfection. I ordered the regular size, but it was so large that I couldn't finish it. It looked like it was 8 oz, while I was expecting maybe 6. I wish I ordered the petite. I would suggest asking your waiter before ordering a filet if you are not sure about the size. My SO enjoyed his Lobster and Crab Salad. I did not try it as I am not a fan of seafood. We also shared a side of the Macaroni and Cheese, which was absolutely amazing. The macaroni was cooked al dente and the cheese was unforgettable. I'm going to have to go back for that mac and cheese for lunch since I am only a few blocks away. We were full after the appetizer and entrees but they had Key Lime Pie on the menu, so we decided to share that for dessert. The service was great. Our server gave us enough time to decide what we wanted to order and our food came out in a timely fashion. Everyone was friendly and we were not rushed at all. I had a great experience and I will definitely return.

Business lunch on a friday, the place was very empty. We were immediately sat outside despite the fact it was gusty outside without being asked if we had an opinion on the matter. After our menus blew away we went inside. I ordered the fish tacos because I was craving them. 20$ for fish tacos seemed a bit exorbitant for a lunch time meal, but I wasn't going to judge until after the meal. When my dish came it had two measly sized fish tacos with a small cup of pico de gallo or some tomato and onion mish-mash. The tacos were generic, a little bit of cooked fish, a slice of avocado, some onion and an egregious amount of sour cream with a little bit of sauce. The tacos were generic, nothing special. The entire menu seemed very overpriced. I would definitely not come back as it seems that every item on the menu

Made my reservation on Opentable, on which I am a "VIP". Obviously, that means nothing. I arrived ten minutes before my reservation. The host checks his computer and tells me I am the first in my party to arrive and seats me by the front door. Now this place is huge but not at all busy. After 25 minutes, I text my friends to see why they are running late. Late? They have been in the restaurant for 40 minutes and already finished their cocktails! Turns out they have been seated on the other side of the bar out of range. I walk over to the host and tell him the situation. He guffaws and says"Guess it doesn't make me look very good" and that's it. No apology or round of drinks. Really??? The waiter was great, food is good but never again! $200 lunch tab for such treatment? Go here and be grilled!

Must try the meatballs app and ribs. Was blown away by the ribs , up there with the best in the city. Also has a great bar for an after work drink.

It had been one month since my father had passed away and we decided to go out to dinner. We stumbled across this place after some shopping in the city. We originally wanted to go to Serendipity but it had 1.5 hour wait! This place had no wait at all, didn't seem very kid friendly but that was also ok. The menu is a la carte and a bit pricey but we were looking for a good meal. The hostess immediately greeted us with a smile and sat us, she was pleasant and friendly. However that's where it ended. We had maybe 3 or 4 servers come by and none of them were polite or welcoming. They all seemed rushed and the place was pretty empty. We didn't have all of our designer labels on or look like the typical upper side crowd but we still expected much better service. No one came back to check to see how our meal had been, we had asked for hot chocolate for the kids, we were told no they don't have any. However for a $50 steak, I think you would try to accommodate your customers, if you have chocolate and milk in the building hot chocolate can be made. I was extremely disappointed in the service and food was good not great. I spoke to Lenny the manager and he was apologetic but also seemed a bit defensive. He did offer us a free dessert but we decided to pass at that point we no longer wanted to be in the restaurant. I definitely won't be back if I am ever in the city and wouldn't suggest it unless you look the part.

I have to upgrade my review, based upon an outstanding dinner. First, was given a warm welcome by the very friendly and helpful manager on Saturday night (H___). After devouring the good bread basket, we started by splitting the Three Cheese Pizza for $10. Perfection. Fairly large. Wonderful by itself. Worth coming here just for pizza and some drinks. The sirloin steak at $42 was even better than last time and a good price. Perfectly medium rare and very tender. This time I avoided the french fries and had a baked potato instead. Perfectly prepared and huge. The creamed spinach was also perfect and a large portion. Nicely creamy, but not too much so. For dessert, they had the cheesecake tonight. It was very good, although not excellent, but that is a matter of taste. It had two layers. One was dense (which I really like) and another layer was lighter (which I do not like as much). Still a very nice dessert. We also had the Chocolate Mousse, which came in a large goblet and had a rich chocolate taste. An excellent choice. The service was not always perfect, but always very friendly and warm. Not only that, but the weather was lovely and it is a great place to eat outside on the plaza.

What a great addition to the midtown lunch options! Run by the great gents from the historic AJ Maxwells. A great lunch time treat, with a nice all-around bar great for creating an environment that encourages conversations and good times. The wine list was great and the Mac & Cheese is a favorite. I'll be a regular soon.

I like this place because of its size mostly. It has plenty of space indoors and outside. The food is good, and so are the drinks. Its in a business area, so great place to get some space and a good meal with drinks on a weeknight.

Beautiful large open kitchen where you can view all the action and drama. Mostly a business-like crowd for after work drinks as this is housed in the ground floor of a business building. The outdoor patio area is the business promenade and perfect to sit having brunch. Great American food and would have loved to have made another reservation here for next week but after stopping by today, noticed that they are closed and looks like for good. Brown paper covers all the windows band if you peek in through the slits, you'll notice the interior looks trashed. No one answers the phone and there is construction scaffolding surrounding the place. Looks like a new business may take over this space where Outback Steakhouse once stood before BV's Grill moved in. *UPDATE* Just checked out their website and it says they are closed and will reopen in a new location soon.

This place is big, spacious, clean, and new looking! Bread Basket - I loved the bread basket here! They have like 3 different types of bread in it and some crackers and other stuff. The raisin bread is really good. :) Also, loved that their butter was whipped! Don't you hate it when you're trying to spread a cold, hard chunk of butter on your bread and it just won't? Filet Mignon - The size of this steak was huge! If you can't eat that much steak, you might even want to get the petite size or ask the waiter how many ounces the steak is. I got it medium rare, but it was more like medium to me. I'm okay with eating medium, so I didn't send it back. It came with a side of bernaise sauce (really tasty and went well with the steak) and sauteed onions. I felt that the steak was not seasoned enough. Could've used more salt. Creamed Spinach - Pretty standard creamed spinach. It's not too salty and doesn't have that bitterness. Brussel Sprouts with Bacon - I loved that there were actually big pieces of bacon in this. But, the brussel sprouts were undercooked. They were pretty hard to chew on.

Food is amazing here! The burger, hand cut fries and mac and cheese. Food 5 stars scene is dead - huge place no one ever in it. Even happy hour is light. PJ's has the small but packed thing going. Scene 1 star

3.5/5 for me here We popped in for a work lunch around 12:30 or so on a Friday during the summer and found this place fairly empty. The outside patio had most of their seats taken (20 or so) but the large inside dining room felt abandoned. We sat at a table close to the kitchen which was nice to be able to see inside, but it had a gate down that prevented you from getting the full experience. The ambiance is causal but modern and seemed to be very clean. Getting to the food, we ordered both the swordfish Oscar (crab meat on top) that was ok but the swordfish was a bit under-cooked and the veal Milanese that was done well and still had some good moisture while not being overly breaded. Overall it was a good meal, friendly but a bit slow with the service but a good midtown location. For the price you pay here, it was a bit higher than you would expect to pay for lunch but I would come back. Buon appetito.

BV Grill has some great food and an incredible ambiance, but I am still a little indifferent about it, to be honest. In fact, I bet most people who have been here will say the same thing. Their drinks are extremely overpriced, and they don't have happy hour drink specials. We go here often for work, since we work nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way to trek here. If you do find yourself sipping an expensive glass of wine here, order the pretzel bread. I don't think it's on the menu any longer, but it is incredible and they will for sure still have it!

Really disappointed to give them one star since it's close to our apartment but we went to BV Grill tonight and won't be back. Things started out great, we had our three month old and sat outside with a number of other parents with young children. The waiter recommended the sea bass for my wife, which was a fine dish but the bok choy was grainy as if it hadn't been fully washed. We pointed this out in what we thought was a polite way - not looking to send it back - and we may as well have been invisible for the rest of our meal. It appears the maturity level of our baby might have surpassed that of our waiter. He still received his standard tip but lost any repeat business. I'm a bit sad as my burger and fries were really good.

This place is incredibly slow, even though they seem to have a lot of staff standing around. I ordered lunch (simple cheeseburger and fries) I was the only customer in the place at the time I ordered and it took over 20 mins. They waited until my burger was completely done before cooking the fries (in a very overloaded fryer - so not sure if they were even getting cooked properly. I recal it being slow a previous time, but when they had more customers to warrant the wait. Would not recommend. Will not return.

Really good, and for some inexplicable reason you can always get a table. I can't figure out why people aren't realizing this place is great, it should be hard to get a table! Good food, good prices. One drawback, the desserts are terrible. All of them. But otherwise it's great.
