Friendly service. Excellent food........ALWAYS. Mostly stop for breakfast, but when I've had a burger or other sandwich, it's served fast and fabulous. Worth a trip into St. James for this stop alone.

BLT cafe is a tiny brunch place that's easy to miss and right next to the railroad. There's not much of an ambiance and their outdoor seating is just one round concrete table with benches. However, what they lack in ambiance, they make up for in food. We ordered the breakfast special, spinach tomato feta omelet platter, and poached eggs benedict with pastrami. The pancake that came in the breakfast special was so fluffy, the eggs benedict was perfectly poached, and the homefries were nicely seasoned and crispy. Overall, a solid brunch place and when we were there it was busy but without crazy long lines.

Thank you Bill & Marisa for your awesome reviews! After reading what my fellow yelp peeps had to say about this gem, I could not wait to partake when the breakfast bug bit me! When we arrived I found it funny that the parking lot truly can only fit 4 cars at a time. Lol. The place was not crowded and we seated ourselves at a table next to the heater. That heater was my best friend! It was pumping out warm air like a champ. Thank God because outside was extremely frigid. I loved that thing so much that I had to snap a pic of my beloved. LOL The waitresses were both great. One of these sweet ladies was the owner's daughter. Prompt & courteous service. Quick with refills and friendly enough to initiate casual conversation. I felt like a regular already. Everyone dining were greeting one another. I guess thats how much they love visiting. I rode The corn beef hash wave & lets just say I'm thankful!! First of all, watching the Chef make our food was awesome because I saw his hands moving a whole lot! He was using actual real ingredients! The plates arrived fresh & hot! Never have I had corn beef hash with actual corned beef! It was too good! So flavorful and the corned beed was not too finely chopped therefore I was able to get awesome chunks of flavor. The home fries were amazing! I love them a little crispy. Im unsure of what seasoning is used on them but keep it coming please! The bill for two entrees with coffee, tax & extra sides was less than $30. Amazing! I will be back! Thank you for the comfort breakfast BLT cafe! I will be back!

Although I have only one check in here, my family and I have been coming to BLT for quite some time. Located right off of the Saint James station of the LIRR, this breakfast/lunch spot will be sure to impress. Although it's not the fanciest place, BLT gets the job done with friendly accommodating service and an atmosphere that makes you feel like one of the locals. Oh, and let's not get their delicious food. If you like omelets, then look no further. Hands down, one of the best omelets I have ever eaten. Spinach, tomato, feta with the addition of ham is a combo that kept me eating even though I was stuffed. Loaded with fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection served with home fries, and your choice of crispy buttery toast/bagel...need I say more? All of this while sipping some piping hot coffee in a very thick diner style mug. Sadly, this is the only dish I have ever eaten here(because it is that good). I do know from my parents that basically everything on the menu is delicious. I also know that if you like your eggs just right, this is your place (I.E. over medium) Try this place out if you are in Saint James and looking for some local flavor. If you go on the weekend, you better come earl,y because it will be busy and don't worry... there is parking in the back.

The fete, tomato and egg omelets here are fantastic! I really like the hash browns. They are real red potatoes cut, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Nice helping too. All the breakfast items here are good. Only complaint is the seating is limited, so get there early to get a seat or sit at the counter to enjoy the cooking display. Went here only once for lunch and had the hamburger. The burgers here rival burgers I've gotten at burger specialty shops. They make their own burgers! No Costco patties served here (which really aren't bad for a backyard BBQ, but not when ordering out...) Another highly recommend!

The best homemade corned beef hash in the nation!! My Yelp BFF Marisa has been telling me I have to try this place and to trust her. I drove by this place over the past twenty years, I always thought it was closed? I'm a Maureens Kitchen guy, I love sitting at their counter and having breakfast while everyone tries to fight their way in here. There comes a time when you need to try new things. On a whim, I asked the counter person, is the corned beef hash freshly made? Well no but we add things to it (After they dump it out of the can??) Well I broke free from the Smithtown Matrix and stopped by BLT Cafe. The parking lot is so small, 4 cars max. You can park on the street if needed. I'm feeling the home town vibe of this place. Lotsa nice local folks eating a solid Saturday morning breakfast. No fighting, waiting or pushing, people come in and are seated. I'm a huge Disney guy, I start asking about all the Disney items on the wall. Over the years, they've collected items but they don't have a special meaning. Fun, happy Disney folks. Check in A Column I ask, I'm assuming it's the owner, tell me about the Corned Beef Hash process. Well, we chop up corned beef and add all fresh items like potatoes, onions, etc.. Sold! I'll have an order as well as eggs over easy. I'm seeing the chef cut off the corned beef and assemble the hash. (tears of joy streaming down my face) The plate comes to me and it's sooo good I want scream. Where else in my neighborhood will you get this dish?? I am now holding the BLT cafe flag and waving it from the rooftop. This place looks a little on the dive side true, I don't think they need a Yelp review to make them. The local folks know what's up. If your from Long Island let me put it to you in a way you can understand. When you see people wearing Sperry boat shoes, you think they're trendy tourists. The real deal are the Sebago Boat shoes. Smithtown/St James/Stonybrook folks, I give you your breakfast Sebago. I came here a few times, I can vouch for this place as a solid value breakfast. The coffee was kinda expensive so? I don't get the coffee here. Did I say the CBH was OUTRAGIOUS here? Thanks YBFF for the tip ;)

My husband and I go to BLT almost every weekend. Maria and Steve are the nicest people in the world. The food is always great!! My husband gets the "the Joe with home fries murdered" always made to perfection.

I was just here less than 3 hours ago and yet again it never fails no matter what I have it is always delicious. Its a little on the small side but the food and service is always superior! Today I had a half of a tuna sandwich on rye (my mom had the other) with French fries (she had home fries). Regardless it's always delicious and I (along with whomever I go with) always enjoy our food. Eggs are always cooked to perfection. Toast is delicious. Sausage is the best (I'm a bacon girl and IMO the sausage here is the star). Pancakes are amazing! Corned Beef Hash is homemade and great too! What can I say? I love BLT's. Prices are pretty reasonable and it's better than waiting at Maureen's Kitchen (though Maureen's has some pretty awesome pancake concoctions and chicken salad in an avocado instead of bread and I love avocado).

Whenever I am talking to friends and family about eateries in the local area, BLT is usually not a restaurant that immediately comes up in conversation. It's location is not in the main Lake Avenue strip of Saint James; it is located across from the Train Station. I went in for the first time around 7 years ago, and have never been disappointed since. The food at BLT is amazing. Whether you are coming to the cafe for breakfast or lunch, you will not be disappointed. The coffee they serve has a strong flavor, and the staff is quick to refill your cup. I'm never disappointed with any of the omelets (although I have a tendency to stick with the western omelet, which is my favorite). Also, the home fries are delicious! I was slightly disappointed today when my friend was stung by a bee and none of the staff came over to see if she was okay. Both of the doors to the restaurant were left open (since I am assuming there is no AC), so a few flies and bees were flying around while we ate our meals. It was a cool day, so I wish the front door was closed so critters would be kept outside and away from the tables!

Small little place near the lirr station that serves super delicious food. All I ever order there is there breakfast, but I heard their lunch is good too! Their eggs and omelettes are always cooked really well, and their home fries are amazing! Really fresh ingredients! Had their pancake last time and it was one of the best pancakes I've ever had; it had a really nice texture. Their coffee are also always really good! I would go there every day if I could! Awesome friendly service too!

I randomly picked up this store as I saw lots of nice comments about its omelets of which I am always a big fan. I ordered the spinach, tomato, and feta cheese omelet. It was really awesome. Their servings of ice tea is also very good. It is a pity that I probably wont be able to stay in this place for long to discover more in this store.

Absolutely LOVE! I order takeout all the time, the couple that owns it is very kind and friendly, they always give me great portions at an unbeatable price. The noodles that come with the sandwiches are very tasty. And the sandwiches...incredible as always! I also love the "Popeyes Omelette" they serve, you get so much food with the omelette and they put a hamburger patty in the omelette! In pieces of course. With the omelette it comes with Fried potatoes and a bagel/toast- a lot of food!

Wonderful place for breakfast or brunch. It's small but we have never had to wait. There is plenty of parking whether in the lot or on the street. The omelettes are delicious but the home fries are the best! The owners are always there ensuring consistent service and quality.

Everything on the menu is amazing. Can't go wrong with breakfast here, though I do come for my usual tuna melt - best macaroni salad around !!!

Awesome food, great service. Their turkey sandwich with spinach ranch and pepperjack is my favorite. Macaroni salad is the best anywhere.
