I came here with my 2 girl friends for dinner one night. We ordered 2 sushi rolls, chicken/steak hibachi meal (comes with french onion soup, salad with ginger dressing, rice and hot green tea), and a Chicken with Udon noodles. I say the best part of the meal was the onion soup. Picture your take out wonton soup (minus the wontons) plus some button mushroom and fried onion strings. It was a great start to the meal. The salad was good as well. Then came the entree. The steak and chicken was dry to the bone. It was so tough to chew. It was just a big disappointment. The Chicken Udon noodle stir fry was pretty good. The Udon was soft and chewy. BUT the chicken was the same chicken meat from the hibachi. Hence dry meat not eaten. We actually sat outside in the booths because the hibachi room was too greasy smelling. If we sat in there, our hair and clothes would smell like chicken grease for the entire night! Our meal comes with green tea. But the waitress forgot. At the end of the meal, we asked for it. She was nice in the beginning of the meal. But towards the end, she didn't want to cater to us anymore. She had a slight attitude. I do not think I will bring my friends here.

This was a refreshing change for my wife and I. We have visited a few hibachi places and found this decor more family oriented and personal. Sometimes a family wants a meal where the feeling of the atmosphere is much more intimate. This place is that and more. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Shrimp and Chicken for my wife---She loved it. Steak and lobster for myself---awesome. Drinks...great!! If you want the big restaurant head to Benihana's, but if you want a more intimate setting and delicious food...this is the place!

Hibachi' lovin' or sushi bar.. it's your choice =) When I went I tried the hibachi love but sadly was given dry steak and heavily buttered everything... but I do love butter so it was okay. Our chef seemed very sad and unenthusiastic about performing his hibachi skills.. in the end I felt like I had just watched a normal joe schmo cook my meal. The man hardly set anything on fire except for the oil well he created in a tower of onions and .. something else. Oh well. At least he was nice. We ordered sushi while there... that stuff was good and they plated it very interestingly w/ sauce everywhere in funky geometric patterns and the sushi stacked up high like a mountain. Mmm.. there's one roll called a mountain roll that I recommend. Delicious! So bottomline- it's not super memorable but if you go at all- go for sushi, not hibachi. =)

Had dinner here with my family last week. First time here was many years ago. I absolutely love the ginger dressing on the salad, I like it everywhere pretty much though. The soup was okay, I ended up giving it to my stepdad to finish. I finally tried a California roll and it was really good. For my entree I had the chicken and shrimp with fried rice and all was very good. My sister and stepdad had the steak and well he cleaned his plate. The price was a little high for a Queens restaurant, about $45 with tax and tip for each person and only sodas. And I always love the little show the chef's put on.

This review is for takeout. I went here after a grueling two hour workout for dinner. I saw this place was close to the train station where I got off. I decided today was the day. So I went. Ordered a sandwich roll cuz I was feeling adventurous. Was on the pricey side, but well worth the extra 4 or so dollars spent. The sandwich roll is spicy crab, plus avocado, three types of tempura, and flakes in sandwich form. The presentation was a bit messy, but it was jostled in my togo bag. It was orgasmic! The tuna tadaki was ok. Will come here again.

Good experience!. its a nice hibachi restaurant with a sushi bar. the interior was great, had a lot of Japanese art and designs. To begin with the chef who was preparing the food, his movements were a bit scary with the knives and everything but he had a great sense of humor, i wasn't bored, the volcanic fire was pretty interesting not something you see happening in your own kitchen everyday. I ordered steak and wanted it to be medium rare and it was exactly what i asked for. The food overall was pretty good, however i felt a bit rushed because the waiter kept coming back and forth, however i would definitely go back again!

Difficult to find an affordable hibachi joint in NYC. This one was pretty good affordable hibachi. Salmon is good. Lobster not so much.

Great service. Very friendly people. We went here for my boyfriends birthday and had a group of about 15 people. We ended up closing out the place. Chef had a great performance. And we had lots of fun. We would definitely come again.

Zagat rated? *shrug* seemed below average to me. The dragon roll had a bit too much flavor for my taste, same with the spicy tuna roll. The sweet potato tempura roll was too potato-y (starchy & harsh texture) and wasn't even tempura. I love sushi because of the delicate balance of flavor. The balancing flavor act is such an important art when it comes to sushi! Gotta get it right! I wasn't a fan of the style of sushi here, very little rice and stuffed with the vegetable/fish ingredient. No balance of flavors whatsoever.

I love this place! And I get a great deal when I use my restaurant.com coupons. Awesome. And they always have an interesting collection of sake (straight from japan; so they claim- i don't really know!). The sandwich roll, is to die for! So is the mountain roll. The eel is awesome, and I normally don't eat it anywhere else; even their Cali roll is on the "high" end, with real fish eggs, not just sesame seeds :) (like other places) I love it! It is half sushi, half hibachi (sorry if i spelled that wrong!). I have never tried the hibachi food there, maybe we will one day, but the sushi is always so tempting. A great hang out, the manager or owner (I'm not sure) is always there and friendly. he always recommends the best sake for us :) Definitely a place to try. We go there ever other month.

The quality of the food here is terrible (don't get me started on the size of the portions - for $20 + for an entree, I expect some decent amount of food, but I guess that's not what this place has in mind). Rice- barely cooked, zero taste. Meat - was not teriyaki as I ordered, extremely dry, no flavor. Just plain awful, had to throw it out. noodles - instead of giving you more pieces of meat, they give you extremely oily noodles. salad - what salad? it's just a few pieces of lettuce (barely). Bottom line, never getting food from this awful place again, and don't recommend that you do.

Went there for an early family dinner on a Sunday night. We opted for the hibachi, which was quite good: moderate sized portions and not too greasy or salty. Chicken, lamb, shrimp and steak were cooked to taste and correctly. The hibachi chef performed the standard tricks: onion volcano, shrimp tail toss into his chef's hat, egg toss and crack on his spatula (though I've seen more entertaining ones in the Orlando, FL area - but that's another story/location). I tried the signature Sandwich Roll, which was quite unique and didn't disappoint. Prices were decent and not over the top. Waitress was attentive and not overbearing. Street parking (metered) or valet parking in the front (on Sunday at least). Will return sometime in the future.

from the outside i'd never even think of trying this place, but my godmother loves teppanyaki and it was that time again to do the good deed. we walk inside and it looks even funnier, a huge volcanic lava formation sitting in a pool of water. and then off to the teppanyaki section and you are now in a godzilla sci-fi set, and they are playing whitney houston-like music. but why not try it, the've been here 4 years, they must be doing something right. so we place our orders and service comes very fast. we get this remarkably simple yet tasty onion soup. then the chef comes over and literally zaps up a delicious shrimp appetizer in 10 seconds. next was the fried rice which was pretty damn good. the veggies were done just right. now for the big test, teppanyaki fish, will they over cook it? wow that was some damn god chilean sea bass. the imperial steak was done just right medium rare. the udon shrimp yaki was tasty but udon was slightly over cooked. the after meal green tea was pretty decent. overall i'd say you can't get better teppanyaki anywhere in queens. the chef was entertaining and damn fast, never seen a guy zap up a meal so dynamically. in the end the food wins out the rating again. if you walk out with a happy belly then nothing else really matters, does it?

I feel like I've been up and down this section of Queens Boulevard a thousand times and at this point, I submit to Yelp's infinite wisdom on where to eat. I had no idea this place even existed considering how crappy it looks from the outside. We decided to go with the hibachi. We went early enough in the evening that the two of us basically had our own private teppenyaki chef. If you've never done hibachi before, it can be pricey. This place is no more expensive than Benihana. I went with the terriyaki steak and chicken while the gf went with the lobster, scallop, and shrimp. The portions were pretty good especially for hibachi. The meal came with soup and salad. Both were good except the ginger dressing on the salad was too watery. The steak and chicken were pretty good especially when dipped in the sauce. The steak was prepared medium rare, just how I ordered it. I tried the lobster, scallops, and shrimp and they were pretty good also. Not overcooked and the mayo sauce complimented the seafood nicely. The fried rice option costs extra which was a downer, but it did taste pretty good. The mixed vegetables that came with the meal were also good. The chef's tricks were pretty routine, from the flaming onion volcano to the spinning knife. Our chef was delightfully corny (if there is such a thing) and thus provoked me to see if I could tell cornier jokes. He won. The guy didn't do the shrimp toss, but that's ok by me because I am not a big fan of having shrimp thrown at me. The service was on point. Any time we needed a drink refill or more sauce, they were on the ball. The inside looks a thousand times better than the outside. You would not be able to tell what was inside based on looking at the restaurant from the street. I would recommend this place, especially if you haven't tried hibachi ever before. I can't comment on the sushi because I haven't tried it.

Ever carefully orchestrate a surprise party? The planning can take day over which you are constantly stressed about the secret slipping. Then you get to the day of the event...in the hours that lead up to it, you must use your powers of persuasion to lure the surprisee into your carefully set trap. The last person who can screw up this setup is the host of the restaurant..in those crucial last minutes, they forget to follow the script you've carefully gone over with them...only to make the surprise less surprising..."Oh [insert friends name], what are you doing here...oh sh#* you guys are surprising me." Fortunately, this dim scenario shouldn't happen at Hibachi Midorimatsu. The host displayed amazing prowess, ushering our unexpecting surpisee quickly into the clutches of her soon to be surprisers. Yeah, it worked perfectly. Also, the food was great, everyone was pleasantly surprised (even the reluctant Manhattanites, "it's where? QUEENS? What?"). The sea bass was very fresh and flavorful. The scallops were seared to perfection and the steak was tender. Our chef was jovial and the waitstaff was attentive. I almost forgot to mention: they have an indoor pond with live goldfish!

Very good place. I went there for the first time last weekend. I acutally live near by and I passed by this place few times but never went in becase - as some other reviewer noted - the outside does not look too inviting and you cant really see thru the windows. I ordered shrimp hibachi which had A LOT of shrimp, some tasty veggies and fried rice. It also came with a small soup and a salad. All for $20. The Hibachi Chef that prepared our food in front of us was awesome and very entertaining. He did a lot of tricks for us and we loved it. I noticed that if you show interest and appreciation they will do a lot of tricks but if you dont, they will just cook the food and not bother... The reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because the food was good but not exceptional. I prefer a more potent flavors and this was a bit too mild for me. However, I would definately go back.

The only place that I can think of when I want Hibachi, is the one right around the corner from where I live. The Chef's at Midori Matsu are very entertaining and have great personalities. They try to make your time worth while and the staff welcomes everyone with open arms by helping their customers with their needs. I can't wait till I can go there again, with a bunch of friends or my family members!

Came here for V-day with my hunny. We love hibachi and decided to try a new place. Service was great waitress is always there to cater to your needs. We did'nt order drinks so can't really tell you about that. I ordered Hibachi Steak; he ordered hibachi chicken. Had some Edamame for appetizer. Everything tasted great. Onion soup was very flavorful, sald was good except dressing was a bit bitter compared to other hibachi and japanese places I've been. Cook was mediocre with his trick and entertaining us but worth the price. This place was average among hibachi place. Chicken fried rice was excellent!!! They use a garlic butter that is to die for. Steak was on point medium well just how i like it...and shirmp appetizers were nice and fresh. Ginger saunce was amazing. All in all a great new hibachi place for my list of restaranuts and I will def be back!

I don't like to eat raw fish. So I was surprised to find that the other dishes, IE vegetable dishes were excellent and exactly what I like. The cooked food was pretty good. But am avoiding all kinds of animals to eat and this was a wonderful find for me. My Friend who is a killer and eater of all animals swears by this place and now I think I agree with her. this place deserves me coming back to it, so I will

Been looking for a good hibachi place in NYC for quite some time now w/out having to go all the way to Arirang in Bayridge and today I found one! Midori Matsu in Forest Hills is supposedly the largest hibachi restaurant in queens and I'm so glad we tried it. Since hibachi portions tend to be large, we ended up sharing the filet mignon which comes with: onion soup, salad, shrimp appetizer (3 pcs), strr fried vegetables, white rice, entre, & ice cream. Along w/ the special we got the spicy tuna roll which was yummy and a side order of stir fry udon noodles (delicious) and chicken fried rice. Everything was sooooo good and it was great bc they didn't use too much butter or oil in anything like most places. So all that food, plus 3 beers and an ice tea only came out to $51 w/out tip. I'll be back.

Want something simple and on the healthy side? Midori Matsu will provide just that in their selection of Hibachi dishes. The Sushi is also pretty good (though it's not worth 4 or 5 stars in terms of quality). This restaurant's strength lies in Hibachi with a wide range of choices between steak, vegetables, shrimp, chicken, salmon, chilean sea bass. The dishes are mild and tasty. Truly a guilt-free and satisfying experience.

I will keep this simple and to the point. The service was prompt and friendly. We had a mix of sushi and hibachi. The hibachi menu was slightly overpriced, but the sushi menu was fair. The food was good and the hibachi chef put on a typical show. He spun some stuff and set some stuff on fire. If eating hibachi make sure you try the lamb!

Went here on 8-8-2015 with my girlfriend and 2 college friends. We called ahead for reservations and boy we were not disappointed. It was really nice, we only had 4 people and each hibachi grill seats 8. However, they did not make us wait, once we arrived we sat and they began the meal with just the four of us. The menu is very reasonably priced. We all ordered hibachi, 2 of us got steak and chicken and 2 got steak and shrimp. The chef asked each of us how we like are steak prepared and it was done perfectly. All the food was delicious, great fried rice, the miso soup was nice and hot. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes hibachi. Don't be discouraged by their signage. A few letters are out but it is well worth it.

Midori Matsu is the perfect place to celebrate someone's birthday, especially if you're interested in eating in style at a family friendly place. The hostess and waitress were very polite and welcoming. My group of 8 ordered teriyaki chicken, steak and shrimp. Along with our entrees, we were given miso soup and a salad, both of which were good. The noodles and vegetables could have had more flavor, but they were good anyway. I must add that the chefs have very great attitudes and sure are energetic--even at 10 p.m. The kids were amazed at the tricks he performed and at how the meals were prepared in front of us. Our chef was a funny guy... he plugged in a few jokes. Drinks were exceptionally delicious. Ask about the "tsunami"--it isn't on the menu, but it's worth buying. The piña colada was tasty too. Would I come back? Yep! I just may bring some Adobo next time. And a camera!

Been here twice, most recently yesterday. The service is always prompt and curteous with no wait, and the food has been scrumptious! The chef last night did a great job, and not only cooked a fabulous meal, but had a great sense of humor, and also had some tricks that i had never seen (i've been going to hibachi for over 2 decades now) like the beating heart in the fried rice, and the bubbling volcano! Excellent food and service, and a great atmosphere.

There's an interesting... aroma when you walk in. The hostess seats you and if you're unfortunate enough to put your hand/phone/etc on the table, it will stick. When you ask the staff to please wipe down the table they bring you paper napkins and walk away. I was about to do the same, but I was with an elderly couple who insisted we should give the place a chance. After all, under previous management we all used to come frequently and we'd have a grand old time. The waitress asked us every two seconds (literally) if we were ready, then walked away when our order was placed. I advised my friends not to order. The place smelled infernal, but they insisted on staying for old times sake. The fish was not fresh. We tried to call the waitress over but she didn't come back till all chopsticks were down and napkins folded on the table. "Hi do you want the check?" (Did she not see that we didn't eat the food?) "The check and a manager please." The manager didn't seem to understand. Perhaps the DOH will be able to shed some light. I miss the old owners. Back in the day, the old owners kept the place super clean and service was on-point. It's a shame that landlords in the area drive prices up so high that good (delicious, clean and affordable) family restaurants can't survive.

First time for my wife and I at Midori Matsu tonight and what a pleasant experience it was! Wife had soft shell crabs tempura and spicy shrimp tempura roll while I had the sushi deluxe, everything was just great, the sushi was the best I've ever eaten being very fresh and expertly cut and prepared. Glad to say we'll be back soon!

Went with a bunch of friends, and had a great experience. I would say the prices are reasonable although I don't know much about hibachi pricing. Everyone is really kind and more than understanding to suggest options.

I ordered two pieces of tuna sashimi and it was the best I've ever had. I am fairly new to sushi and far from adventurous, and I am VERY picky about freshness and fishiness. It was so so good. I should have taken a photo. I also got the filet mignon hibachi dinner. The miso soup was amazing. I wasn't crazy about the ginger dressing in the salad; had a little bit of a bit to it that I didn't care for. The shrimp appetizer was good, the rice/noodles/vegetables were alright--but definitely not the best I've ever had. The filet was delicious, though I wished that it wasn't cut so thin. But certainly tasted good. Definitely recommend for sushi and hibachi!

One of my favorite restaurants. I've been coming here for years. And I'm never once disappointed with the service or the food. The sushi is wonderful here. I would highly recommend the Danny's roll, Nara roll and the mountain roll. And the drinks are amazing too.

This is a very nice restaurant. Decent decor, service and food was absolutely amazing. The servers were very attentive. Only downfall is I became very sick hours after eating the food. Not sure if it was just the combination of food that didn't agree with me, as no one else besides my step-daughter and i were sick. All of the food taste very fresh, I'm just not sure what happened. All I know it wasn't a pleasant after experience.... All in all, i would try again.... Just not now!

it's been ages since I had hibachi. we finally went to remedy this situation with some of our friends who also live in Forest Hills. yes, you'll get a front-row seat and get to see the standard hibachi tricks - egg juggling, knife throwing, the onion volcano, and more! pick your meat and/or seafood, and the chef will sautee it for you. you also get a bowl of soup, a modest salad with a really tangy and delicious salad dressing, a lot of vegetables, some grilled shrimp, a carbo-load of noodles, and rice (for a few dollars more, they'll make it egg fried rice - worth it!). what I liked most was that each person is able to pick their own meat/seafood, perfect for groups with pickier eaters. some of the meats/seafood are marinated, but you'll get an array of dipping sauces anyway. the rack of lamb was wonderfully tender with a crisp grilled exterior, and the chicken was moist and flavorful. tip: if you don't eat shrimp, tell them ahead of time that you don't want the shrimp appetizer unless you have enough friends that you can give yours too. hibachi entree choices are generally in the mid-20s-dollar range, not bad considering how much food you get, the fun live show aspect, and the fact that everything was actually really good. I got a mai tai which was extremely potent and only cost about 9 dollars. uh, that's a win in my book. gratuity is automatically included for groups of 5 or more. you can phone ahead for them to take (and hold) the reservation. there's a non-hibachi menu as well. service was extremely helpful and friendly. they have an awesome indoor pond with live fish! considering how much food and entertainment you get, Midori Matsu is worth the trip.

I hadn't had hibachi in a while but proposed that we go to Midori Matsu for a triple date with some of our FoHi friends. We were given a mountain of non-greasy and delicious hibachi at a reasonable price--for between $20-30/person depending on the entree of choice, we had soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, rice, noodles, a protein, and lots of vegetables. I always get excited about the onion volcanos and hocus-pocus that hibachi chefs create, and our chef was especially vivacious. I'm sure we'll be back for another tasty adventure.

Don't rely in google maps to get you here! It wasn't my best experience at a Teppanyaki (Americans call it Hibachi) place. While the facility is clean and staff was very helpful, the actually food was just okay. I didn't like that their shrimp sauce was salty. Our chef was lack luster. I haven't had Teppanyaki in over a year. The last place I went to in Harlem included squirting Saki in your mouth lol. Don't expect that kind of fun here. No offense but I think that everyone giving this place stellar ratings should check out a few others.

I loved this place! The chef were humorous and very skilled. The food was great. The prices were def affordable. There was a slight language barrier but that understandable. Our server was a new employee, so I'll cut her some slack. I had steak and it was cooked perfectly! I enjoyed the environment, severs, and food!

I LOOOOOVE Forest Hills, so when me and my buddy were exploring the area, we thought we'd try Midori Matsu, since we like hibachi. It was odd though, on a Saturday night, it was nearly empty. Until we came, of course. After we were seated a small army of people showed up. We tend to have that effect on businesses. The drinks are kind of weak, which I guess is okay since I have a long trip home from here. The food is tasty, though I personally think they used a little too much butter. My only complaint is that the show was a little boring and the chef didn't seem that enthusiastic. I don't think he was overworked-- there was practically no one in there. Overall though, it was cool and I really like the atmosphere. I wouldn't travel all the way from the Bronx though, just for this restaurant.

I've been coming here for a while since it's pretty close to where I grew up. The food is decent but the menu is deceiving. If you order the "Rack of Lamb" you only get 4 pieces when it should be 8 if it where truly a whole rack. The last time I was there I asked about that and they laughed at me like I was an idiot.

Great place. Husband likes sushi and i don't so thought this place would be a good compromise. It was great. We went on a Thursday night. Was not busy at all. We sat at a tepanyaki table. We were the only 2 at our particular table. The show was great, the food was even better and the service was outstanding. The waitress was very attentive and spoke perfect English. (That's important to some people so i thought I'd note it). I can't wait to go back again. The food was reasonably priced too. We had 2 tepanyaki meals, 2 sushi rolls and 2 alcoholic beverages for $85. It was A LOT of food too...i hate the leftovers for days.

Had Valentine's dinner here. Hibachi tables are shared. Our chef was funny but didn't do tricks like the other chefs. The food as delicious. I recommend the shrimp , scallop and steak hibachi. The Mai tai's are strong. The service was good. Skip the fried rice, it was cold & from the kitchen. The miso soup with mushrooms are good. I'd defiantly come back.

I haven't been to this restaurant in a couple of years. I recall it having better service. I went there tonight for my son's birthday. It was an OK experience. The food wasn't as tasty as I recalled. I asked for a filet mignon medium rare. The meat was over cooked which left me wondering about the quality of the meat. We asked for some sushi rolls to start as appetizers but when they arrived we didn't have any utensils nor chopsticks! We had to wait on the chopsticks for a bit- meanwhile the hibachi chef was already starting up his presentation when the chopsticks came out- this doesn't make any sense to me if you serve food why not make sure utensils are available? Then my daughter wanted her food packed to go- which prompted the waitress to pack the food ( which was nice) but then promptly brought the check before asking if anyone wanted desert?? My kids always leave room for desert- it should be common sense for a restaurant to train their employees to offer desert. Not a terrible place but has definitely declined in service levels. My wife put the meal on her credit card when I stepped to the bathroom so I never saw the bill - when I got home she mentioned that the tip was included in the bill! Including the tip in the check is in poor taste in my opinion. That was a real turn off. I won' t be going back there anytime soon. The chef did a good job with his presentation and the food was good aside from over cooked filet mignon but the service was less than average. Frankly adding the tip to the bill infuriated me- it's the principal of it. I would have liked to leave a tip because the hibachi chef did a good job and the waitress were accommodating but to just add it into the bill- come on with so many restaurant choices why do that? So in conclusion it's a place where you can get a quick bite to eat but not a special place. This place used to be top notch when it first opened but it seems like it's under new management or the ownership is just jaded. They need to spruce the place up/ bathroom needs to some TLC as well and service levels improved.

I love this place! The meat is fresh and the sauce is freshly home made. The service...whoooooo The service is top notch I tell you! It is always packed with hungry people and filled with actual Japanese staff. Their sushi is fresh and i feel amazing after I leave....

Food was mediocre and service was meh. The worst thing about it was the food wasn't fulfilling even after spending all that money :( never again!

Maybe our chef was just tired but he seemed like he really hated being there. I mean, he wasn't intentionally rude or anything and I can understand if you're having a bad day, and I was trying to be encouraging, but it just wasn't a great experience. Also, he put at least 3 tablespoons of butter in my noodles. I like butter, but I don't want to have a heart attack. Meh.

This place is awesome. Great chefs and great food. The steak is so tender and awesome. Don't let them know it's your birthday. THEYRE GOING TO SING

I went here tonight for the first time and it was really great! I'm vegetarian and have been to similar places that left me dissatisfied with the food choices and options, so I was a bit worried about what I could eat. I tried the Hibachi Vegetables with tofu and noodles and it was just absolutely awesome. From the Japanese strawberry soda, to the soup, and the salad with the ginger dressing: so yummy! The chef cooked the food right in front of us and did an excellent job while also keeping us entertained. I will definitely be returning.

Server and chef were great! Solid place. Fried rice was very good but everything else was a little bland. Dipping sauces rocked

This review is only based on their sushi, as I haven't tried other items at this restaurant. I've been getting my sushi here for about 3 years. The sushi is consistently good, with friendly service. I'm fairly picky about sushi, but have never been disappointed by this place. Their rolls are really tasty, as well as many of their appetizers (the shumai are quite good). The only reason they lose a star in my book is that they're a bit on the pricier side. However, I can't find a better-tasting sushi spot in the area, so I'm sticking with them.

If you think this hibachi is great, you must haven't tried a "good" teppanyaki place. First of all, the chef absolutely lacks any enthusiasm for interacting with customers. My friend tried to converse with the chef in Japanese, but he was ignored. Secondly, traditional hibachi chefs perform a variety of tricks to entertain customers which is why hibachi is generally more expensive than regular Japanese restaurants. Our chef did two tricks: the onion volcano and break eggs with the spatula, only in the beginning of the meal. For the rest of the meal, the chef only looked at the iron grill and cooked everything up in 20 minutes. He might have also juggled the utensils a bit but I didn't see him flip the food onto customers' plates or something like throwing food into his pockets to make us laugh. Food was rushed onto our plates. Moreover, shortly after the chef finished, the waiter delivered our bill. I didn't feel much entertained nor relaxed to enjoy everything at a pleasant pace. Thirdly, the food is relatively expensive considering its quality. We ordered two entrees, chicken & shrimp and steak & scallop. For the money we spent, I could have brought up a michelin 3 star meal at my dinner table. The steak i pick up at Trader Joe's is much better than that we had. Chicken was boring and flavorless. Lastly, the waiter seems not familiar with the menu. He messed up the sake twice that my friend asked for - first he brought over the wrong one and later he served it cold instead of warm as my friend requested. The entrees come with green tea and I had to ask twice for the tea. The restaurant is spacious but we were asked to sit with other customers which is understandable as the chef can serve two groups at the same time. However, i don't think the food and quality is worth my next visit.

Hibachi- My scallops were burnt. Well, not literally burnt but they didn't have their usual pleasant colors. Their miso soup isnt that great and their salad... Let's not even go there. I took a bite and never touched it afterwards.

I am a frequent diner at the restaurant, but will stop going. The food has gotten less flavorful over the past months, and the portions are far smaller. The "tricks" have also been cut and it seems the cooks have no interest in making the experience memorable. When I asked the manager about portions, she said they have strict portion control, and she had a major attitude. I have never been treated so rudely over a request for a few extra noodles that would have cost them 50 cents. The reduction in quality, and the nasty attitudes make this place a definite skip.

I've been addicted to hibachi lately and since I was in Queens and didn't want to trek to my usual spots on Long Island, we figured we would give here a try. I wasn't sure what to expect from reading the reviews. It wasn't too crowded at 7:30 on a Saturday and the staff was very attentive. Our hibachi chef was very sweet to pay extra attention to my son and do all sorts of tricks with him. They include noodles with your meal which is something I don't usually see everywhere (my boyfriend loved them). I really liked and appreciated that they didn't charge any fee or sharing charge for not ordering a full meal for my son. Overall the food was good and comparable to the other hibachi spots I've been. The restaurant is dated but the staff seems like family so it adds to it's neighborhood charm. I totally would eat here again and would recommend you give it a try.

OH...My...BOB... First off, i have been to a few Hibachi restaurants before but never one in Queens. Me and my girlfriend were laying around our house when we got the crazy urge. one quick Google search later and we were in the car! At first sight, you would think the name of this place was HIBACHI because of the giant lit up sign. but the name is written on the doors. We went late on a Sunday so parking was a breeze. We walked passed a pretty nice Koi pond and into the side room reserved for the Hibachi. Our waiter was super friendly and, although empty (which i'll chalk up to it being late on a Sunday) the atmosphere was pretty nice. Kids were at another table and enjoyed the tricks. our cook gave us the usual trick (ohh an eggroll) but he had energy and was fun to watch. Best of all, the price was great. spent no more then 80 on a dinner for 2 that included Sushi, appetizer, salad, main course, desert, and mixed drinks/beer. Will def return in the future before taking the drive to Benihanas in Long Island

I don't know why I never wrote a review for this spot. I am actually excited to go back, soon hopefully. I like the decor when you come in, it's very beautiful, the small bar is decorated very nice as well. Entering into the hibachi area, it's regular, but I could care less of the decorations when I enjoy the food. The food is tasteful, not over seasoned, cooked thoroughly... I mean it IS cooked in front of your face. Cooking area is cleaned prior to cooking and immediately after they have finished. (Are you one of those people who doesn't really like going out to restaurants b/c you're worried about where the chef's hands were before they laid their hands on your food? Well I am, lol.) All sorts of teriyaki is pretty good, and I believe that the amount of food they put down on the plate is more than moderate. Desserts: I LOVED the tiramisu (although they gave you a tiny portion of the dessert) and the fried ice cream is so good!!! Moving on to the drinks, I've had a piña colada there and it was P-E-R-F-E-C-T. I like my drinks to be smooth and they nailed that with the piña colada. Delicious. The staff was wonderful from entrance to exit. They were very friendly, the chef was excellent and charismatic. I don't know what else I can say, the experience was very pleasant and of course I will be back again!

Great food and great service. Only reason why I didn't give five stars is because of a similar restaurant I went to where I grew up is my favorite ever. So I'm biased...

The waitstaff was very friendly and service was good. The food is not as good. The hibachi here is nothing to write home about. I've had better elsewhere. The gyoza appetizer looked sorrowful and tasteless. I love to eat gyoza at different places, some are made on the premises while others come out of the frozen package you buy at the store. This was the latter. After having dinner here, I had the runs later that night.

Went here yesterday with my boyfriend. The chef Jeremy was so wonderful. He did really cool tricks & interacted with us. The food was good. Doesn't beat Benihannas but it was good. The fried rice was delicious, Since I moved around the neighborhood I had to try this spot. Service was okay. The only thing I have to say is that I was kind of rushed out at the end due to them closing up and i hate when people do that because I'm a slow eater.

Came here for my birthday. I have never tried Hibachi, I would have to say it was pretty amazing. The chef I had was awesome with his live cooking tricks and techniques. I ordered the filet mignon and shrimp with white rice pretty good. Had a great time with the family.

This place had no atmosphere whatsoever, may have been the most boring hibachi restaurant ever. Came here on a Tuesday night at 7:30 for a birthday dinner and the place was almost empty, I'm hoping during the weekend it's more lively. hibachi chef was great and went out of his way to pay extra attention to the birthday girl. But thats where the good service stops. There were two waitresses there and only two tables, the place was basically empty, yet it took the waitresses forever to bring menus, drinks, and refill water. They also came by a few times to take our plates when we weren't even finished, we got the feeling they were trying to rush us out. They had music on very low and it was kind of awkward because we could hear everything the table next to us was saying. Someone must have requested it be turned up because they made it louder but ended up playing the radio, such a disappointment. The food was normal hibachi that you could fine anywhere. Overall for the hefty cost of dinner for 4 I expected a more fun atmosphere and friendlier service, this restaurant definitely was lacking in both.

I Love this place. I have been to many hibachi places all over New York and by far this one is the BEST!!!! There Sushi is awesome too. I usually get the Srimp Rolls and Dragon rolls here, its so good. My Wife and I keep coming back to this place for great food.

The food was delicious here. It was my first time coming to a habachi place, & I love it. The waitress was super awesome and friendly and so was the chef. I see no reason for this place to receive 5 stars :) I will def come back here in the future.

hibachi... Just Ok. Two chefs + 5 tables of customers= Very Long wait to have food prepared. This is my second visit to this restaurant. The first time the wait was not bad. The food sadly was the same. Nothing memorable or worth coming back for. Ohhh and they push alcohol here, I do like saki and social cocktails, however I don't like the mannerisms here when you decline alcohol.

Solid! Super friendly staff, the food was good, no complaints. It's the seasoned butter I think that makes the difference in the flavor. I find most hibachi places just cook the food but don't season the food. Not true here. Have already returned once since the first time.

I had a great time here! Free valet parking is readily available in front of the restaurant. Midori Matsu was very accommodating to our large crowd and seated us in two large hibachi tables. Everyone ordered from the hibachi menu and the chefs were great. We started off with soup and salad. Afterwards the chefs arrived with their carts and was prepared to cook for us! We had two chefs cooking at our tables due to the size of our party. They were superbly efficient and fast in cooking and distributing the food. They also had a few entertaining tricks as all hibachi chefs tend to do. The food tasted great, everything was well flavored and I was very full from the eating! The scallops and shrimps were well cooked, I also tried some of the lamb which was delicious as well. They give everyone their own sauce plates which makes it taste all the better! The restaurant itself is very spacious for hibachi which is great. They had a lot of hibachi tables as well as regular seating for sushi dinner. I would definitely like to return to try their sushi one day!

After leaving this place with my wife, we were trying to decide why we wouldn't give it 5 stars and we couldn't come up with any reasons. This is the best hibachi I have ever had and its all reasonably priced. Staff was very nice and all the food was great. I did not order sushi or eat in their sushi part of the restaurant. Will be going back here.

Hmmm, lets see now, NOT GOING BACK! I took some friends there for lunch on a weekend and it was so not worth it. OVERPRICED for the portions we got and the hibachi guy was so NOT FUN!! Food was not good either with way too much oil and soy sauce, super salty! On top of everything else, it took forever to get service and we were about to just get up and walk out when the hibachi cook finally came out. After everything, I wish we did leave before he came out 30 minutes after ordering!! Skip this place and go somewhere else...

I been craving hibachi for months and Matsu satisfied my fix. I had the steak and shrimp hibachi ($25) with chicken fried rice. My boyfriend had the steak teriyaki ($21) which I think tasted slightly better than my steak. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and juicy. The hibachi chef put on a decent show, he didn't do much small talk but he did hit all the bullet points required for the hibachi experience. The fried rice tasted buttery good. The prices are good and the portions are large. I had food to take home. Each hibachi table can fit up to 8 ppl. Service was very attentive. Our lovely waitress gave us service with a smile and she seem to genuinely care. I like that! My only complaint is that there's no parking in front of the restaurant. It seems, the business next door restricted parking on that block for their valet parking only.

I LOVE this place. Standard hibachi prices and quality, no surprises, but what did surprise me was the quality of their sushi - DELICIOUS. It's always quick, fresh, tasty, and the rolls are quite large. Love the atmosphere too - the big mountain centerpiece in the entryway with the fish in it, the elevated tables where you sit on cushions, and the elegant decor. I only wish they delivered!

We live in the neighborhood and have always wanted to visit this place since it's so close. Major disappointment! I went with two other friends and we each ordered a different kind of hibachi dish and shared amongst ourselves. First off, the plates are small- not sure how they can fill someone who is more than a moderate eater. Second, there's no ambience whatsoever. Third, service is slow although staff is somewhat friendly. Finally and most importantly, the food is mediocre at best. Bland yet salty. If you really want to make a trip there, do yourself a favor and get the filet mignon. That's probably the only thing I would recommend amongst other dishes we ordered. Chicken is tasteless and dry; scallops and shrimps are acceptable but not worth the price. The one plus side to this place is that it is pretty quiet so you can sit for as long as you want without having the fear of being kicked out.

  • Usha L P.

They have two halves, one for sushi and one for hibachi. We went for the hibachi, and while the chef was good, the hibachi "show" is not the best. I've been two lots of other places with a far superior "show". Nevertheless, the food was good - their fried rice is superb. And the Plum Sake is super awesome if you like sweet cocktails ;)

  • Nohemi A.

Went for a friends birthday dinner. The only thing cool about this place is the fact it's Hibachi and I love all the tricks the chefs entertain you with. The food is alright.. I tried the fried rice it was extremely good! Wish I ordered that rather than plain old rice. I ordered the Steak and Shrimp Teriyaki.. I told him medium well because I figured it would be dry anyway.. but when I tried it.. it was dryer. I really hate dry meat. The shrimp was great as well. Really yummy. The ginger dressing was not that good. Also the miso soup was really normal. I didn't order a drink but they all looked so Good! Definitely coming back to try those.

I had the vegetable tempura udon and it was pretty bad. The vegetable tempura itself was just barely passable, the vegetables they used were not particularly flavorful, which was enhanced by the blandness of the tempura batter. The stir-fried udon noodles on the other hand were just inedible. Covered in oil, it was a gooey, stringy mess of oil. I would not return here again

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
