A cheap meat-and-potatoes place, in the form of huge burger patties and large portions of fries. It's not the cleanest place or food, but it's tasty enough and pretty cheap for Collegetown.

5 star for food 1 star for service 1 star for bar and service at the bar, bartender and the helper girl are look and act scary and served very scary. Burger, breakfast and fries are very good. For me burger and fries are best in collegetown that I would like to recommend for the expensive burger and fries, I don't have problem with that if it comes with great service. Staffs in the morning and lunch are very good and friendly (both front and kitchen) but except the evening shifts, the evening shift staffs are very scary and I would like to complained. I hope you will improved and thank you.

Jack's is pretty pricey and definitely isn't worth the money. There are a ton of places with better food and cost less. I just can't believe that place that specializes in burgers would use what are clearly frozen burgers that are thin and not great quality to boot. Try using better ingredients! The only reason why it is 2 stars is because it has a nice location and the topping are good, but I will not be going back.

(Note: This review is for the service, or lack thereof, rather than the food I never received) I found this restaurant via a third party food ordering website and placed an order for a chicken sandwich with a side of Cajun fries halfway through my shift at work. Shortly after, I received an email that my order had been successfully placed and a text from my bank saying that I had been charged for it. Fast forward an hour, and I still haven't gotten my food. I made a call directly to Jack's Grill who, without asking for any information about my order, told me very curtly that all order for delivery where in transit. Nearly an hour after that, my shift at work is over and I place another call to tell them they would have to deliver to a different location on campus. It was only then that the woman who answered asked me about my order. When I gave her the information she requested, she told me that they hadn't received an order from that website (though they had received my credit card information, go figure) and I would have to speak to EatStreet about the money they had charge me. A quick call to Eat Street told me all I needed to know; the restaurant had received and confirmed my order. They just hadn't bothered to make it or deliver it. Only charge me for it. Thankfully, through them, I got a refund but I will never attempt ordering anything here ever again.

I went to Jack's Grill for an early dinner and ordered cheeseburger with regular fries and drinks. It took about 4-5 minutes for my meal to come. Very freshly-made burger and fries, although the patty was quiet thin. 3 stars because I expect more from the $10.XX I spent.

I'd have a better impression of this place if it weren't so overpriced. The patty you get is pretty thin and not worth the $7.69 (most of their burgers, unless you want a plain burger). They're not that much better than a fast food burger, which I wouldn't be complaining about if they didn't charge me double the price! Then $3.99 for a side of fries, which aren't bad but they give you such a small portion and definitely aren't $4 good. It also annoys me that they say "open late" on their menu. 11pm might be late if you're 60, but not if you're a college student.

Jack's sucks. I've waited on a burger for 30 minutes here. Greasy food and w/o good taste. Stuffy, thick air inside. Not cheap enough to justify going there. Not a fan.

Got the Sante age burger and I was honestly very disappointed. The burger patty was the size of a $1 cheeseburger at McDonald's and they charged me $9.50. In addition the guacamole was cheep and gross. However, the Cajun fries were great.

Sort of yum... This place is pretty okay. It's nothing gourmet, but if you want some late night burgers or wings or fries, this place is pretty good. I think it's still owned by the people who ran Hong Kong (which is what this place was before it closed). It's pretty good, but nothing special. I do think it was smart of the owners to make a restaurant with this genre of food since Collegetown is teeming with Asian restaurants and not much else. There is seating inside, but since it's not a place with waiter service or anything, tables tend to be sticky so I'd take my food to go.

I gave this place a few more tries and it earns an additional star on top of what I gave it before. I tried their loaded fries, which is a plateful of fries with bacon, cheese, and sour cream. It's sufficient as its own meal if you're eating it by yourself. I've ordered it several times and it hasn't come out bad at all. Also, on Thursdays they do ten chicken wings for $5 in the bar, which is a crazy good deal. It was always a pretty good choice for an early meal last semester since the bar would open around the time I left campus and you could just sit and watch some early football or basketball games. The wait for your food is still outrageously slow. Cash only for under $10 is quite a nuisance when most of your orders are gonna be for under $10.

I lived in collegetown last year and I came to Jacks at least once a week. PROS: First, the daily deals are pretty sweet. Monday $5 Philly cheesesteak is the best, wednesday burgers is 2nd, thursday wings is 3rd. There's free coffee on the weekends at some point, they're currently running a $5 popcorn chicken special too Second, they recently added more items to their menu that sound pretty awesome like the Jack Attack burger which has grilled mushrooms and onions and kaboom sauce, deep fried banana peppers in garlic sauce. Third, the food is good. I like the Agava burger a lot but that's a different expectation. From a place like Jacks, you should be expected thin, well griddled patties. And that's what you get. The beef tastes pretty good, the toppings are varied, the buns are a little too big. The wings are cooked decently, there's a variety of sauces. The philly cheesesteak gets some really good browning on it and the mushrooms and onions come out with perfect char too. Fourth, when I first started coming here, the wait on wednesdays for a burger was easily 30 minutes. These days, they're much faster. I waited under 10 minutes last time I ordered a burger around 6pm on wednesday. CONS: -Yes, the $10 credit minimum is a little annoying. Expect to pay $5.40 very often. -yes, it gets pretty crowded sometimes and the wait gets longer. Jacks is a solid joint as long as you come in with reasonable expectations. The food is good and cheap and that's what's most important.

I'm pretty happy with how my lunch turned out here. I went pretty early in the lunch time, so hardly anyone was there and I was able to order quickly. The food is pretty standard American grub, but they have daily specials and you can get a whole lot of food for under $10. They have a lot of burgers on the menu, chicken sandwich, several different types of fries, onion rings, and more. I recommend the cajun fries! I was able to chat with the owner/manager while I was waiting for my order and I found him to be a very friendly person who thanked me sincerely for my business. He also told me about the "bar" side of the place that opens after 4:00pm and seems to have a basic college sports bar vibe. It is likely to be a cheap place to drink if you want basic domestic pitchers and a good game on TV.

They've gotten way better since my first review. They still take forever but the food is awesome and they're less obnoxious about their credit card minimum. Still wouldn't get delivery if I was hungry though.

It's hard to rate the food when all you can think about is the terrible service. I've gone to Jack's twice and each time have been greeted by an extremely rude girl at the counter. She doesn't listen to what you say and messed up my order both times. When I ordered delivery over the phone, it took an hour and forty-five minutes for the food to be delivered. An hour into the wait, I called to inquire about the status of my order. The same, rude girl answered the phone, who answered my question of "was my food made yet?" by answering, "I don't know, that isn't my job." The food arrived both cold and soggy. They claim that they were "just busy," and that's why it took so long, but I don't see how it could get this extreme. Completely horrible service. Avoid unless you have the patience to deal with a customer service disaster.

Place is crazy slow. I could have watched Black Hawk Down two, maybe even three, times while I waited for my food. This was take out, not delivery. HOWEVAH (Stephen A. Smith voice), they have some super cheap deals. Get it how you live it. I'm just keeping it 100.

It's a decent place but they should really find a way to reduce the amount of plastic that comes with every takeout. I feel really bad eating there because of it.

The Good: Food. Omelette, specifically cali omelette is pretty good, 4/5. Burgers, 4/5 as well, taking off one because sometimes they burn the burger or the burger falls apart entirely in your hands due to the bottom bun being soggy. Also their menu is gigantic and has everything: quesadillas, wings, burgers, breakfast. The only thing they dont sell it seems like is pizza. The Bad: 10$ minimum to use credit card. yes this is absolutely ridiculous and a reason why they will lose a lot of my business and probably a lot of other people's business. Also everything in that store has a 50% markup if you are not going on "cheesesteak mondays where its 5$, or burger wednesdays where burgers are 5$". A regular day, expect to spend 9$ on a 7 in cheesesteak, or 8-9$ on a burger.

Eat here if you need some motivation to go to the gym. Jack's makes you feel guilty about scarfing down the poutine, cheeseburgers, hot chicken wings .... and french fries. The food is pretty fatty and oily but it hits the spot and the prices are reasonable for Collegetown. The cheeseburgers are delicious though and there is a TON of variety to choose from - i.e. the jalapeno burger . Con - the wait is very long and the seating isn't the great for groups of 3+ people.

This is really just standard greasy fast food. Their curly fries and burgers are OK but nothing special, and its really expensive for what you get, $9 for a mediocre, fast food style burger; that's just silly.

Good place for college students but not good for family.

Over priced breakfast and drunk food. You are better off ordering online for delivery to get your food faster. It took us over and hour for us to get our food when we dined in and I have gotten delivery from them in about 30. Our server in the bar section was rude.

Went back over the summer for a $5 double cheeseburger special and added curly fries for $2 and ate inside the restaurant. The fries were very tasty and crispy, only complaint I had was the quantity (approximately equal to a small serving at most fast food restaurants). I got the Bo Burger, a typical cheeseburger with an egg on top. The burger itself was pretty tasty- buns were soft and not soggy, the veggies were fresh and crispy, the patties were bigger than before, and overall a fairly tasty burger. Much better experience than my last visit, though these burgers are still fairly expensive, even when there's a special. My consensus: Overall a 3.5, but I'll round it up. Jack's is worthwhile if you absolutely must have a burger, there's a deal on burgers that day and you'll be able to eat it soon after getting it (whether it's dine-in or take out), otherwise don't bother.

I've been to Jack's a couple of times and I really wanted to like it.......but its not going to happen. Both times I have eaten there it was not very busy but the service seems to be quite slow. I've now tried a burger (jack's loaded burger) and a chicken sandwich(Santa Fe Chicken.) They have both been very ordinary, the chicken being the worse of the 2. I ordered the chicken fried and it was so over cooked that the texture of the chicken took away from me tasting anything else that was on the sandwich. I also ordered fries and while you get a decent amount they are very bland no salt at all on them. As far as the prices go it really isn't that great of a deal as others have stated. There menu does have a lot of variety and it unlike any other place in Collegetown, but from my experience overall the food really isn't that great and the prices are a little high.

Overall, it's a pretty good place to eat. Burgers and sandwiches taste pretty great. The "Classic Burgers" are great if you're looking for something cheap and just as filling as the other items. Not that I'm an expert on Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, the ones here tasted great the last time I ordered it. Make sure you try the Cajun fries, cause they are the same price as the regular fries. I have to say though, it's the slowest "fast food" restaurant I know of. Even when you're the only customer there, the simplest order of burger and fries will take at least 10 minutes. This only gets worse when there are people waiting ahead of you. I'm sure this depends on who is working there at a time, but they also have the tendency of getting your orders wrong when it's even a tad busy. But all considered, it's a great place to eat on lunches and late nights. It might be a little slow, but food is usually worth it.

Avoid Jack's Grill delivery. While their burgers are great at the store, the stuff that was delivered was truly awful. The burger was small and cold. Don't expect any extras in your burger, either. If you want anything on it, you have to type it directly in your order under delivery instructions. I received a small, cold patty with a slice of cheese and mushrooms and nothing else. I was extremely disappointed, as I really enjoyed their burgers at the store in the past. I will not order delivery again, though.

One of the few places in college town that is genuinely good. It is nearly five stars. I highly recommend the bacon stuffed burger. Imagine that all the drippings that typically cook off of bacon are contained in a juicy fat pocket in the middle of the burger. This burger may directly contribute to you eventual quadruple bypass but its worth it. The only negative i can think of is that it sometimes takes them a little long to get the food to you, but just like your slowly clogging arteries, the wait is worth it.

My family & I LOVE Jack's. We love the fact that my picky daughter can even find something that she likes on the very eclectic menu. We get delivery from them through campusfoods.com and the orders have always been prompt. VERY friendly owner/staff.

This place is absolutely horrible! I ordered online for delivery and the food was nasty. The burger was soggy and limp with nothing on it but meat and cheese even though I ordered one of their so-called "loaded burgers". That thing cost me 7 bucks, but was worth about 7 cents... In addition I ordered sweet potato fries, which were way overpriced at 5 dollars and soggy. None of the food was worth eating, so my boyfriend and I just threw it out and are now making cookies for dinner. That's how bad.

Not the best food or best burgers in Ithaca, but it's damn good. And, they deliver which is awesome. They have a big menu including burgers and many loaded versions, tons of side orders, wings, dinners, and breakfast all the time. Bottom line, great inexpensive comfort food delivered to your door.
