I've eaten here twice. I travel for work and typically try a different restaurant every night. In the three months I've been here on Long Island, this is BY FAR the best meal I've had... Twice. Filet Mignon kicks Luger's butt.

My boyfriend and I came here with a living social deal for a pre fix dinner for two. The place was very romantic and very nice. The staff was great as was the food. We got a delicious bottle of cabernet, then we shared calamari, which was wonderful. For an entree I got a porterhouse for one medium rare, it was cooked perfectly! For dessert I got creme brulee which was probably the best I've ever had. Everything was wonderful.

Let me start by stating that the restaurant is beautiful. I am looking forward to visiting in the summer when the rooftop will be open. My husband and I ordered t-bone steaks which were both cooked perfectly. The steaks were delicious. Now for the few complaints. For the price, I expect real mashed potatoes. We were served what tasted like boxed potatoes. And, the transistor radio for background music has to go. I will say that it looked like the restaurant may have been being wired for music, but we only heard Abba playing on a boom box. We will return again.

Returned to try out the location, as our wedding was in the same room over 2 years ago. Very nicely renovated and very impressed with the quality of the food. Some things that stood out: * Tuna 3 ways was very nice, but the tartar stood out. Consider adding capers to put it over the top * Steaks were prepared and seasoned perfectly as well as the side dishes. I preferred the ribeye seasoning, sears and taste here than I do for the Teller Ribeye at Prime * Cappuccino was done old school and tasted exceptional, dessert wonderful Now for the little suggestions to make this place 5 star: * Greeter downstairs to direct first time guests to the upstairs restaurant * Whatever music source youŕe using (Spotify) pay for a real subscription and get rid of the ads * If there´s a band playing outside for a wedding, turn off the piped in music. It creates a very awkward sound * Room decorated well, but be mindful of storing tables and chairs on the terrace right outside the windows. A simple lattice cover would suffice * It's a romantic setting so when a downstairs wedding guest comes upstairs drunk and loud, someone should be politely escorting them back downstairs....not serving them at the upstairs bar * Serve butter a little nicer than 2 slices on a plate. Maybe give guests a choice of different breads * To-go containers and bags should be a little classier. I will be returning. And I hope they´ll take this feedback and make this a very desirable place.

We really wanted to like this place. We read some of the reviews after buying the Groupon but we went in with an open mind. It's a bit old fashioned looking inside but nothing terrible. We started off on a pretty good note. Our grilled cheese appetizer was tasty and I thought the Sea Bass was actually quite good. My partner had bone in rib eye which was mostly good except very rare in the center. The menu is slightly different than the one we found online and we were happy to see lower prices. Our main complaint was that the service seemed to deteriorate throughout the evening. We weren't in a rush so the leisurely pace was okay, but everything took forever. It seems like the table next to us had a better waiter, but our waiter was bland from the start and worse seemed to disappear by the end of the night. We produced our Groupon just before dessert and it seemed like immediately we became unimportant. The time through ordering dessert to receiving it lagged to a ridiculous pace. We also got our dessert a full 10 minutes before the coffee we ordered. They also were out of both chocolate desserts I was interested in ordering. When we go somewhere with a Groupon we make it a point to tip extra well, but the service here was undeserving, and even included a hand-written suggested gratuity, which we ignored. I'm not sure how this restaurant or it's staff intends to make money when they don't put any effort in. The waiter pretty much threw the bill at us without a glance, and if I hadn't asked him for the bill we might have still been sitting there.

Just to set the tone of the review upfront; this place is one of the nicest restaurants I've ever been to. Upon pulling into the gate of the estate we immediately noticed how beautiful the grounds are with expansive fields of green as we followed the path to the main mansion. The fastest way to the second floor restaurant area is taking the entrance to the right and then taking the elevator to the second floor. Just note that the night we went there was a mandatory valet. The restaurant has a business casual attire required policy which isn't that unexpected when see the place. The dinning area and bar are very nice, clean and formal in line with it's catering hall roots. We were seated quickly and ordered our wine from their very large wine selection. Their dinner menu is relatively small, we were told this was primarily because they had just opened and were still working out the final menu. I ordered a porterhouse steak with lobster mac and cheese as a side, prepared medium rare and the steak was cooked PERFECTLY, charred nicely on both sides and mouth wateringly tender on the inside. The staff was very attentive and everything was delicious. For dessert I HIGHLY recommend the 'Chocolate Box' which is caramel ice cream with bananas and chocolate and caramel sauce drizzled over it contained with a dark chocolate 'box'. One of the nicest dinning experiences I've ever had. I look forward to going back soon.

I have to admit we got lost getting here and we had the GPS helping too, so it's not completely our fault. The grounds here are so beautiful and truly grand. The Upstairs at the Woodlands is really upstairs, we got a kick out of that! We had a Groupon and celebrated another birthday here. The food was excellent. Get the Bone In Rib Eye Steak. just saying The shrimp was very good too. We all wanted to take the chandelier home!!

This place is the top floor of a wedding venue and is beautiful to walk up to and there is valet parking. Once you get to the top floor (where the restaurant is located) you can see that it is a little bit run down. The food was good, but overpriced. We had a Groupon so the overall value was good. The filet mignon is gigantic but it barely comes with any sides at all. The pork is excellent but on the sweet side. The crab cake was a little dry and very under seasoned. The chicken dumplings were different and interesting but $12 is about twice their worth. The service was great. Mario was very friendly and cordial and is a true professional. They pace the meal a little bit on the slow side so make sure you are ready to dedicate a few hours but it's not a bad thing to not feel rushed. Overall, I'd say it's worth grabbing the Groupon and giving it a try.

I got a last minute LivingSocial deal for this place and I'm sooooooo happy that I did! I came with my husband to have a nice, romantic dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We got there just after 5, when they open, so it was still pretty empty. We got seated promptly. Let me first say that I have never seen such great service! I didn't catch the main matre d's name, but he ran a tight ship. He and the staff were all so sweet, helpful and extremely attentive! Prepared to be spoiled! Secondly, the food is awesome!!!!! Really...we were really impressed. The presentation, the taste, the portions..all top notch! We ordered the tuna tartar, lump crab meat and the french onion soups for apps...all were sooooooo good! The tuna was extremely fresh and was one of the best tuna tartars I've had. The soup..perfect, the lump crab meat..delicious. We ordered the porterhouse and the lamb chops as our entrees. .and they were perfect! Tasty, and cooked to perfection. The presentation was lovely. We ordered the Choc. Box and the creme brulee as desserts and they both were good. The xreme brulee was really nice. My only suggestion is that they update their song playlist. Some of songs played twice, and the majority were a little old school and corny. Overall, I'd love to come back! It's definitely worth checking out, to experience the great food and the impeccable service at a beautiful venue.

I had dinner here last night and the experience and the food was good. We started with the Calamari and it was lightly fried and not too oily. We had the Rib eye steak and the balsamic Chilean sea bass with a side of the lobster mac and cheese. The steak and sea bass were great. I would definitely get the sea bass again. The lobster mac and cheese was ok I felt. End with the brownie a la mode! Service and the waiter were great with a nice atmosphere.

This was an absolute horrible dining experience. We got here at 8pm and didn't get our appetizer until 9:15. The waitress explained they were short staffed in the kitchen which was prob true, but was a horrible excuse since the table next to us was experiencing their wedding tasting and received multiple courses within a half hour. We had a living social deal that included 1 bottle of house wine, 1 app and 2 entrees. We started off with the lump crab meat that was good (hence the single star rating). We both got the scallops as the main entree. Most were hard and rubbery though. The vegetables that were missing the first time they brought out my plate were soaked in oil so much that I couldn't even eat it them. We left after 10 and when the waitress offered us the dessert menu, I was just fed up and wanted to leave. Maybe it was an off night for them, maybe I was just hungry and didn't want to wait so long for my food or maybe this place really isn't that great! One thing I know for sure, I won't be back.

My husband and I had dinner here using a groupon. We shared the crab cake appetizer, which was delicious. We each had a glass of wine and for our dinner we each had the 10oz. filet mignon. The steak was done perfectly and was excellent. The only problem I had was that although the steak was generous, the amount of vegetable given was very small. I decided to have dessert and I had a warm apple tart with ice cream which was also delicious. Overall, we had a great meal and I would recommend this restaurant.

Overall: 3.5 Stars. The food was spectacular, from the Tuna appetizer, to the delicious Crispy Long Island Duck, the perfectly cooked Filet, the side of Broccoli Rabe and the Chocolate Box dessert. Food: 4.5 Stars. But the service was terribly slow and largely uninspired. There is no host or hostess for the restaurant and our waiter had zero personality. 30 minutes of our dining experience was waiting for and paying our bill. Service: 2 Stars. Note that the menu on the restaurant website outdated; your only steak choices now are Petite Filet or Ribeye, and the Calamari appetizer and Caesar Salad are gone.

Food was fair to good, but way overpriced for the quality. Atmosphere was odd. Felt like renovation was stopped in the middle. Service was polite but amateur.

Don't go Upstairs at the Woodlands. It's so not worth it. We waited a long time to get our appetizers and the dumplings came out cold. We waited even longer for our entrees which also came out cold. The macaroni in the lobster mac and cheese was overcooked mush and watery. I Took my steak home and cut it up for the dog. I would not recommend it nor would I return.

I just came from having dinner with my wife and could not wait to share my experience of having dinner at Upstairs at the Woodlands with everyone. I want to first start by saying that if you want to have a beautiful Romantic evening with your significant other, This is Definitely the place to be. Everything, I mean everything was great. From driving into the place and seeing the beautiful building to entering the building and seeing the beautiful decor and the fireplace. Then you have the maitre'd when you enter, she was great. We were seated quickly and our waitress was so sweet and pleasant and professional. I mean the whole entire staff was excellent. And the food was extremely delicious, I want to say thank you to the staff for an exceptional job well done and keep up the great work.

So disappointed. The menu is so small and they were out of items. We wanted to order sides, which were listed on their web site. The waiter said that sides were no longer on the menu, really??. It took 35 minutes for the waiter to bring our wine. It took forever to get our food.nthe busboy kept trying to take our plates even though we were not finished.nthe waiter had zero personality.

The food was generally pretty good. I think it is better than most chains. We had a GroupOn, which made the restaurant worth it. The property is very nice and would be great for an event with a good number of friends.

My husband and I just came home from dinner here. I purchased an Amazon local deal for two. When we first arrived at the restaurant, there was no hostess. A waiter made eye contact with us and just walked away. We walked into the dining area and approached the same waiter asking where the hostess was. He proceeded to walk us to a rack with coats to hang our coats and seated us (a little too close to the neighboring patrons). We ordered our meal: the calamari was rubbery, parts of the signature salad tasted like it came out of a can. Our side order of Parmesan truffle fries came out and as soon as we finished that the waiter put the check down on our table. We advised the waiter that we hadn't gotten our entrees yet and he asked if we were sure we didn't get it. Then he asked if we wanted our entree. Needless to say, the disappointment continued when our entrees finally came out (about 1 1/2hrs after we ordered our meal). My husband's porterhouse was ordered to be medium and it came out completely raw on the inside. The food wasn't our main complaint. The wait staff seemed lost. I overheard a few of them say that it was their first couple days working there. I believe the management is the issue. Whoever was overseeing the restaurant obviously was not doing an adequate job. Many customers were complaining about the service and the food. Before they put themselves on Amazon local or livingsocial, they should've made sure that they were ready for people to actually come to eat. They were not. It was the worst dining experience I've ever had.
