Great spot. Didn't look like much from the outside but as soon as you enter, it's like being in Mexico. Lovely interior, friendly service and generous portions of delicious Mexican food. Free dessert was out of this world as was the guacamole. We'll stop here again on our way through! Thanks Yelp!

Outside was real sketchy but went in to dine based on the good reviews . Menu prices seemed a bit on the pricier side but we gave it a go . Ordered 3 drinks and 3 entrees and side of guacamole ( didn't see guacamole on menu at the time ) . Chips and salsa was very good . Food was mediocre . Got the bill and paid $67.05 with 20% for average service ( its what I leave ) ****Guacamole was $8.00 ! ***** .. We left back to our hotel thinking $8.00 was a bit to much for what it's worth . Pulled up online menu to see it should of been $5.50 for a side of guacamole . Maybe she could tell we weren't from area or maybe they just get alot of tourists but I guess you can write down whatever you feel like charging at such a place . I'm not cheap just feel taken advantage of . I guess in there eyes we either catch the error and they correct it or we pay the inflated pricing . I don't feel it was an honest mistake but just a way to make a few extra bucks!? All in all food was average for the cost . Sevice was average and the guacamole was $8.00 . I WONT BE GOING BACK .

Cute interior, small and cozy. Nothing vegan on the menu, but they do accommodate vegetarians. Good service, food was nicely done and we got a complimentary dessert, too. Avoid the chains, patronize good, locally owned businesses like this one.

O the salsa. It was amazing. This place is a bit off the beaten path and pulling into the parking lot I thought they might be closed. When I walked in there was no one there until the single waitress came out. She sat us right away and brought out chips and salsa. I went with my standard water since they don't serve alcohol and also ordered chicken flautas. Now what makes this place special is everyone gets a mini cheese quesadilla for an app. Very nice touch. The chicken flautas were good. I do prefer mine with flour tortillas but the flavors were there and I can't really complain. Another nice touch this place has is everyone gets a banana dessert thing that is the perfect end to a meal here. If in the area I recommend you stop in.

It was sort of difficult to find and appeared closed at first look. The food was good but I've had better Mexican. The complimentary dessert was delicious and definitely outshone "la pollo pablano" and the strip steak . Service wasn't fantastic but can't be too upset when there's only one server. The food seemed a bit on the pricy side .

Really good authentic Mexican food!!! NOT TEX-MEX.. Mexican Mariachi Music and Colitas to match. Our Server was attentive and the food was fresh and great. First time here and we will be back!!!

I've had good Mexican in Glens Falls @ Rauls and El Mexicans. Both are quite authentic. La Cosina from the exterior and interior looks authentic (even with the Yucateco habanero sauces...). The proof is in the pudding...and a deadly combination of bland and just obnoxious levels of cheese (more like mozz than a crumbled authentic queso fresco). I peeled off the cheese of this platter just for some amusement. Would you eat enough cheese that formed into a softball? The good was the salsa and chips...very fresh. The rest of it was such a disappointment. The prices are also a bit eye popping... I may come back and try something else before rendering the final verdict...but for 19.50 for most of the offerings (folks..that's high even for LA) I'm really jaded.

True authentic Mexican is what I was looking for & I found it!! Family owned and operated. Small little building is deceiving from the outside but the inside gives you the feel of being in Mexico. Food was fabulous. As for alcohol, it's currently BYOB but that shouldn't stop you from dining here. Definitely check it out if you haven't already! You won't be disappointed! !!

I would do anything to have this beautiful food meet my face hole again. I would take all the grease from the huge combination platters, drip it over my naked body and tan on Lake George until I got skin cancer and died with a smile.

We had passed this restaurant a couple of years ago and it's taken us this long to try it out. All the great reviews over the past couple of years had us yearning with great anticipation. Maybe we were expecting too much. I think we were spoiled many years ago when a Mexican friend would cook for us once a week. The restaurant is small, it will seat about 28 - 30, and from the outside you might think it is not worth stopping in. But you really should try it. As soon as you enter you are transported to an environment that is reminiscent of the very casual family-run restaurants of small towns in Mexico. There are murals painted on the walls, piñatas hanging from the ceiling, and bright red, green, yellow, blue, and black colors throughout that make you ready to celebrate Cinco de Mayo or Dia de los Muertos on any day of the year. La Cosina does not have a liquor license, but they do have a large variety of flavors of Jarritos Mexican sodas ($3; 12.5 oz. btl) made with real sugar. I tried the Mango and my wife had the Grapefruit. Both had good flavoring. We each were also served a complimentary Quesadilla filled with cheese as we perused the menu and munched on the complimentary chips and salsa (really good salsa). We decided to share an appetizer of Queso Derretido con Chorizo ($7) - melted cheese with Mexican sausage and tortillas. The cheese seemed like the same cheese that was in the complimentary quesadilla (it stretched a lot), and the chorizo was lacking in flavor and spiciness. It came with four freshly heated corn tortillas that were kept warm in their own covered serving container. There was a container of hot salsa on the table, but I don't believe that should be the alternative method of adding more flavor to the chorizo. My wife ordered one of the Specials for her entrée, Tacos al Pastor ($12). It had four soft, corn tortillas filled with chopped pork and grilled pineapple that had been marinated in a sauce. It was also served with rice, beans, and a green sauce on the side. Once again, it seemed like there was a WOW flavor that was lacking. It was good, just not something that made you want to hurry back to have it again. My entrée was the Pollo Mole Poblano ($17). Most people already expect mole poblano to have chocolate in it so it's not surprising that Cosina describes this dish as chicken prepared with special peppers, almonds and chocolate sauce. They actually have a very good mole. The strips of chicken breast swimming in the mole were properly cooked to still be nice and moist. Surprisingly, however, the sprinkling of sesame seeds on top of the dish turned out to be a dominate flavor. My dish also came with the same rice and beans on the side that were served with my wife's entrée. I chose to mix my rice and beans with my mole to add more flavor to them. While we believed we were too full to consider dessert, we were pleasantly surprised when, once again, a complimentary dish was brought to us. This sweet offering was a fried flour tortilla filled with banana, drizzled with maple syrup and a couple of whipped cream florets on the side sprinkled with cinnamon. Fortunately, my wife was as full as she thought, so I was able to eat her portion in addition to mine. Our server was a very pleasant woman who was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in making some menu decisions. While this may not have achieved the level of home-cooking that we had hoped for, it is far and above the local chains that claim to serve Mexican food, if that is your norm. Try it!

Really nice place, great decor, friendly staff, and delicious food. Popped in for a lunch while traveling and although it looks like you could/should drive past, please don't. Had a combination lunch, rellano, taco and enchilada, all chicken with rice and beans, and chips and salsa, and a cheese quesadilla and a complimentary desert, banana fluata with cream - masses of tasty food, not filler, real food, made by someone who can definitely cook. $10.

We stopped by on our way to Schroon Lake. This place is a little gem with great food, colorful ambiance and they even give a complementary dessert with your meal! Definitely will be back :)

I was driving back from Lake Luzerne and craving for some Mexican food. Yelp helped me to find this place and I'm really happy for it! Once we got to the place, the outside was a bummer, but we decided to go on, since it has good reviews, and didn't regret at all! The inside is adorable! You feel like you're in a restaurant in Mexico. The menu was pretty solid and food was great. We were all more than satisfied with both our food and the service, other than giving complimentary tortilla and salsa, quesadillas and desert, the lady serving us was really nice. I will definitely recommend it to friends and come back when I can.

Was really really solid Mexican food. Was traveling from adk to downstate with the whole fam. Everyone loved their dishes and the chilequeles were particularly tasty. Fabulous find. Will return next time I am in the neighborhood.

My family and I are regulars in Lake George, and are always looking for new restaurants to try. We saw the good reviews for this restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Service was great, very timely, polite, and friendly. Complimentary homemade chips and salsa were great and very flavorful. The menu has lots of delicious options from burritos to tacos to enchiladas. The portions were extremely generous and the food tasted amazing. Prices are very reasonable, and they gave us a complimentary dessert (chimichanga) which was also delicious. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking to try some authentic Mexican food!

This is the best Mexican food I've ever had in NY, and I'm from Manhattan! And they kept bringing out free little snacks! 10000% recommend. Don't be deterred by the exterior. It's amazing and they're very friendly.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but it had great authentic food. Cute space, nice staff and all at a good price. In an area littered with chain restaurants it was the perfect find

A worthwhile stop for lunch as we were traveling through! Everything we had was delicious including warm chips served with salsa and cheese quesadillas for appetizers, both complimentary. Meals were full of flavor and filling, so we passed up the complimentary dessert. Don't be fooled by the lack of curb appeal. When you step inside you are greeted with a warm smile, bright south-of-the-border decor, and authentic Mexican food!

Wow! What a nice surprise! Small, cozy and authentic Mexican restaurant that we found on vacation! Complimentary cheese quesadillas and desserts for each of us, along with baskets of tortilla chips with homemade salsa. Nothing canned here and I saw a spotless kitchen through the window. Great for kids and excellent service! Thanks for a memorable meal....we'll be back when we are in town again!

This place was great! Was scary going in because it's so small and located near a strip mall. Family business, the owner and his daughter greeted us. Food was much better than most Mexican places. Guacamole was great and the kids hoovered the chips. Lots of mini-freebies that really made it nice...very thin quesadillas for a taste and complimentary dessert...also very small but free. Enchiladas mole poblano was delicious...very simple, but it accentuated the homemade sauce. Re fries were really good. Everyone arrived starving and anxious (family vacation) and left happy and full. If I lived here I'd be eating here every week.

Thank you, Yelpers!! Found this place on Yelp while staying at the Great Escape Lodge (only 3.5 miles away). What a fantastic little secret!! The decor is cozy, totally Mexican/Spanish and delightful. Soft Spanish music added nicely to the atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and attentive - very accommodating and gave us great service! They promptly started us with some wonderful fresh salsa, and a tiny quesadilla appetizer for each person. We also ordered some guacamole, which was clearly fresh and made to order. It was good, but could have used a little more *kick*, imho. In our 3-person party, we had a beef burrito, chicken quesadilla, and chicken chimichanga - all were absolutely delicious!! We will definitely be coming back to La Cosina anytime we are in the area!!

This place is the hidden secret of the Lake George area. Deceitfully simple on the outside, the food is 100% authentic and served with love. Although there is no liquor served here, you will leave drunk with excellent food. All the food is fresh and home made, down to the last detail. The other reviews on yelp are all very accurate: 5 stars. Go and eat here. Trust me.

Living in Los Angeles you get accustomed to some truly extraordinary Mexican food- and it's difficult to scratch the itch when you find yourself in other areas. But I tell you...this place is as good as anything out there. For my fellow cheese lovers, you will delight in the heaping piles of melted gold that atop all entrees. And they give you free cheese quesadillas and desserts! Shazam!

Pollo Mole poblano was excellent! Loved the salsa and chips as well. Refried beans and rice were very flavorful. As previously stated don't let the outside appearance fool you. Limited seating but worth the wait!

We have come to trust other Yelpers and again were let to a little yem. As other reviews have pointed out, the outside of this place is really deceiving. The inside is friendly and the staff super nice and accomodating. We started with chips and salsa as well as a small quesadilla ( all complimentary), then had one of the combinations ( one of the best tamales I have had), a chicken quesadilla and the chimichanga. Then we were served a complimentary dessert, sweet banana enchilada. All of it tasted phenomenal, real mexivan food, not the americanized versions we usually get in the Tri-state-area. Oh, how I wish we lived closer.

Moved here from Arizona and looking for some Mexican food with flavor ever since. I found this place using Yelp and reading reviews. It was everything good everyone said. Although the salsa is a little on the mild side the habanero suace made it great. The food was awesome. We ordered the enchiladas mole pablano and chicken chimichangas. Honestly this is a hole in the wall you should not ignore.

Really good food fast. Generous portions, delicious salsa (I would ask for the hot salsa next time). They give you a small complimentary quesadilla to start and banana & honey fried tortilla dessert to end. Really good iced tea. Friendly attentive staff.

We were traveling to Lake George and found this place on Yelp. I was very impressed with the authenticity of the food, and they had a very solid menu. The only reason I don't give it a 5 is because the service was very slow. There were 4 of us, and we had the Chimichangas, chicken tacos, enchiladas and tostada. We had quesadillas with chorizo for an appy. The chimichangas were fried perfectly, with the tortilla fluffy and light. The chicken in the enchiladas was very well seasoned and the sauce was great. Portion sizes were robust, and they even brought out a free banana dessert with cinnamon, honey and what we were pretty sire was homemade whipped cream that was also excellent. I didn't find the outside to be that bad given the area, and it wasn't a deterrent in any way. If you're in Queensbury, or even driving by on the highway, this is for sure worth a stop!

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in the area. I have tried them all and this beats them by a mile. I eat out often and this place is right near my house and by far the best. I enjoy everything I have gotten here and will continue to support this local restaurant, and hope you do too. The service is prompt and friendly, the restaurant is clean and decorated with authentic murals. If you like real Mexican food this is the place. Plus they do not have a alcohol license so you can bring your own,,,

La Cosina Mexicana is an average, to slightly above average, Mexican Restuarant. It is clearly better than any Mexican chain restaurant, and is probably one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area. But having said that, it still is only comparable to an average sit-down Mexican restaurant. Is it authentic? I have eaten lots of food in Mexico, and it was all different. I guess authentic can mean different things to different people, or it can mean nothing at all. The restaurant is in a small building that recently housed Lazio's. Parking is easy. There are about eight tables in a fairly tight area. Since the restauraqnt si so small, the waitstaff is always near at hand. Standard chips and salsa come with the meal, as does dessert. The food is standard Mexican. I have only been here for lunch, so I can not comment on the dinner selections. A decent place to go for a sit down Mexican lunch.

Great atmosphere inside, food was great. Outside makes it easy to miss but you'll realize after walking in that it is well worth it. Free chips, and a tiny quesadilla, and some sort of dessert. Not that you need extra food as the portions are huge. A true diamond in the rough.

Don't judge a book by its cover. This is a great little hole in the wall restaurant and a nice change from the tourist traps that are in abundance in the Lake George area. The food and service were excellent and even though they didn't have a kids menu they offered to make the kids a small plate for any item on the menu. The complimentary appetizers and desserts were also a nice surprise.

We called this place a week before our arrival in Glens Falls, and asked them SPECIFICALLY if they were open on Labor Day - we were driving in from Sturbridge, MA - a 150 mile drive away. The fellow who answered the phone checked it out with somebody else and said "yes." So when we got there, tired and hungry, we were surprised and infuriated to find a note on the door: " Closed for Labor Day. Sorry for any inconvenience." Completely unreliable place. We won't even try to go back.

We ended up at La Cosina accidentally last nite after ungraciously being turned away from the recommended "Raol's." It was such a pleasant surprise. The decor had us feeling like we were in Mexico. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and anticipated our every need . . . including accommodating our children with smaller portions and less spice. The food was fresh and delicious, and the complimentary dessert was an unexpected treat. The whole experience was very authentic, and we left feeling like we were welcomed guests of the family who runs it. 2 thumbs up for La Cocina.

Friendly service and good food for a great price:) Complimentary appetizers before we even got a chance to look at a menu. As if that wasn't enough they brought a delicious dessert before the check, also complimentary! If that's not great hospitality I don't know what is. We will definitely be back!
