Check your receipt! We ordered a few items, including small Sweet & Sour Chicken and small Roast Pork Lo Mein. The total bill came to about $10 more than I expected. Looking at the receipt (I uploaded a picture), it says "small" on the receipt but they charged us the price for the large - $8.25. They fixed it when I showed them, before I paid, but make sure you check your receipt. Foodwise, it's pretty good. Nothing phenomenal or lousy. I'm consistently surprised that this area can really support so many Chinese restaurants within a quarter-mile radius. There's House of Lu, Kanda, Jen's, and Chung Hing all within a few hundred feet of each other.

Went back a second time, and it was nowhere near as good as it was the first time. The first time, everything was great, tonight, everything was bad. Bad enough to the point that I will probably not give it a third chance even though the first time was exceptional. General tso's was beyond starchy, the lo mein was decent, chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce was overcooked, fried rice was not really fried rice, and the pepper steak there was like two pieces of steak, all veggies. Considering there are a ton of take-out places nearby, I will skip this from now on.

I go here often. Always easy to get a table. Service is quick and friendly. The reason I choose Zen's over others in the area is their wonton soup. Its the best I've had! It comes as part of the dinner special and they aren't cheap with it. You get 4 big wontons. I also love that their pre meal noodles are self serve so if you run out you can just walk up and get more. As far as their main dishes, they're comparable with other places in the area. Good, but not great. Though for the price, I haven't had better.

THIS is a KNOCK OFF of JEN'S! My favorite place Jen's Chinese Food & Catering used to be at this location and I noticed that these new people basically knocked off Jen's for their logo, website, and basically the whole thing. They also lied to me and others saying they ARE Jen's. I can't believe they can get away with this. And the food is WORLDS APART. Eat at the ORIGINAL Jen's! NOT HERE

I'm usually in the area and hungry, so I decided to look around to get some Chinese food. Driving along Merrick Road, I came across this place and thought I'd check it out. Walking in, I saw a bunch of people waiting for their take out orders. A one other guy eating in. I kept thinking "fast food" the whole time scoping the place out. But I was hungry...I was in the mood for some beef chow fun. So what the heck. Bottom line...It wasn't very good. It didn't even look presentable, the noodles looked like they were just hacked at by some guy with a knife. Some pieces were thin, some were like sheets of lasagna. And they were overcooked. It was edible, so I just ate some of it, drank my bottle of water and left. Service was OK, the girl that took my order was friendly and the food was prepared pretty quickly. Parking is limited in the front, but there were some spots in back. Don't think I'll be coming back.

I've only been to Jen's twice but it is my favorite spot for Chinese takeout. The food is incredible. Try their General Tso's chicken and you won't be disappointed. What I love best is the broth for the wonton soup. It is a pork base and not chicken which gives it the best of flavor. Best Chinese around next to fortune wheel in Levittown and absolutely the best for takeout.

Been back recently and I upped a star. Went from 3 to 4 stars....... Compared to other take out joints the place is clean, there are still some menu I think the don't execute well (fried rice, egg rolls. won ton soup) ........BUT....there's a lot of very good, very consistent items........boneless ribs excellent, home made dumplings really good, scallion pan cakes.......... great again. It's kind of set up as a take out and almost a full service restaurant...........confuses newbies when they arrive..........but there's advantages.........While you are waiting for you take out np getting free tea or free fried soup noodles (some of the best on LI ) with duck sauce that's set up as self serve for the diners! For whats basically a Chinese take out..........Zens is a cut above...........

I love this place, nice, clean and high quality food. We just came back from a long vacation and were craving for their food. As a customer for years, their white meat sesame chicken and chicken with broccoli are my favorites, fresh and delicious. Their white meat chicken dumpling is my son's must ordered. Highly recommend this place.

Ever tried a new Chinese place and everything tastes different and you can't figure out why? Well this was definitely my reaction to Zens. I've had Chinese food in the area and when trying this place, it has a few very positive aspects but I am not sure that I'll be running back to order from here too quickly. The vegatables seemed fresh though and I have a friend who loves this place so if I do order from them again, I'll probably be more careful with what I try.

Great take out. My husband and I like to eat in the restaurant too. It feels like eating in our kitchen except we don't have to do the clean up. Jen's uses quality ingredients. When you order chicken and vegetables, there are actually real vegetables in there. We never ever feel sick after eating here. The noodles are tasty and not greasy. The place is super clean. Okay it's not like Chinatown, but for a local take out place near my house it works. We tried another local take out place and received raw food. I will only be going to Jen's from now on.

The chef must smoke alot. Apparently his taste buds are clearly malfunctioning. They should change the names of the dishes to things like extra salty Lo Mein, beyond salty won ton soup, and shrimp with extra salty lobster sauce. Like they do with cigarettes they should put WARNING !!!!! MAY CAUSE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. Let me ask you a question? If all you do is cook with a few ingredients how could you not get this close to being right and be off so consistently. The food is actually good at times but its too risk taking to eat here.

I was driving by and decided to give this place a try. It is no longer Jen's it is now Zen's. I ordered Scallion pancakes, dumplings, and Fish with black bean sauce. The Scallion pancakes were wet and raw, not cooked through. Bad choice into the garbage. The dumplings were good, not homemade definitely the mass produced type you buy in the Chinese market in the frozen food isle. My main course, Fish with black bean sauce was in reality Chicken with shrimps and eggplant. Not what I ordered at all. It was good though. Don't think I'll be back. The take out place by my house is better.

Great Chinese food. I have been here a handful of times. The woman who runs zens is always very helpful and friendly. Its always clean and bright. Overall a nice atmosphere. They have chicken fried rice as an option. I haven't seen that at other Chinese food restaurants in the area. I like it though. The general Taos chicken is excellent. The chicken are large pieces and very crispy. I feel I need to add that I had it one time and the chicken wasn't crispy but I think that's because I got it as take out and the plastic container kept the steam in and made the chicken soft. Its been crispy all other times. The sauce is great but not too spicy. I also have tried the spare ribs. They are very good. Lots of meat. The sauce on them were great. Their crab ragons are excellent. Overall im not a big fan of Chinese food however zens has won me over. Great food great atmosphere.

This place is awesome! I found it by accident the other day while pulling in to drop by some deli in the same strip for lunch. This place is Tang's Reincarnate!!! Food was AWESOME for chinese, I am sure if I pulled a take-out it would definitely drop to a Three Star rating but I sat in and it was great. Seriously, it was restuarant quality chinese, and they DON"T use MSG which I can tell if they are lying because my heart doubles its BPM!!! Definitely check it out, and the place is CLEAN and the outside looks great, heck its what made me stop in and boy was I happy!

We came across Jens when we were craving Wonton Soup while staying with friends in Wantagh. This place is awesome. With bright colors, and mod decor, this place rules. The food is great, fresh and yummy. This is your upscale take out restaurant. The staff was super nice and their food and veggys were so fresh, you can really taste the difference. Clean and yummy eat here. Its worth it.

When Jen' s first opened the food was a cut above the locally available Chinese take out in the Merrick-Bellmore area. Unfortunately after enjoying a rise in local support Jen's seems to have rewarded it's customer base with a reduction in everything that made their food tolerable in the first place. Tonight we tried the shrimp and chicken in cashew nuts. The shrimp were dime sized and tasted like they were on the old side, decidedly fishy smelling. There was more water chestnuts than anything else. The sauce had no flavor, almost like a mix of salt, water and oil. The boneless ribs tasted like they were cooked hours ago, dried out, tough, and burnt. Even the pork lo mein was tasteless, dry, with noodles that were obviously reconstituted in boiling water prior to assembling the dish rendering them pasty and inedible. It's incredible that there is no good authentic Chinese food in the Merrick Bellmore area. Jen's has taken a sharp turn for the worse. Crave good Chinese? Head to The Orient in Bethpage, it's worth the drive. Don't waste your money at Jen's.

Terrible. Almost unedible. Hard chewy wontons in a bland broth, orange fried rice that did not resemble the classic dish in any way. Shrimp in lobster sauce was a gloppy salty poor representation of what it should be. Not worth even trying. If they can't get these basic dishes right, I wouldn't dream of trying anything else on the menu.

Ordered beef and broccoli tonight only to get home and have hair in the food. After calling and setting up a new order to be delivered by my house, mind you the girl on the phone asked to show the driver the hair, he comes and delivers the new order with no rice ! I mixed the hair with my original rice and felt it was a given to be sending new rice ! I called back the girls response was you already have rice! I won't be going back and it's not necessarily bc of the hair !

The most disgusting Chinese food ever!! I literally had to spit it out! It tasted more like Indian seasoning than Asian. Absolutely terrible spring roll. Whatever was inside was gelatinous. The shrimp toast was obviously fried in dirty oil & had a rotten taste! Bottom line is the food from Zen's made me I'll!

Food is ok. The girl who took my order was very friendly & helpful. Too many other places in the area for me to try again
