I do not recommend for real meal. came for lunch with mom. Ordered lobster bisque (soup special) which arrived so underheated it was cold halfway in. When we told waiter it was not hot, His response was that it was made fresh that morning....i dont buy it. It had good flavor but was very salty & had imitation lobster chunks. We got the bread basket after our bisque arrived. Mom said butter was good. My dish was filet of sole with linguine. Filet of sole was good- well cooked & not overly salted- & an OK portion. Mom has cappelini giardenera. She didnt finish it AND she didnt take it home. Nough said. Maybe their pizzas are better- pizzas are fresh b/c u can see the pizza oven & can see them putting it together in front of u. But a pizza place will be opening in a neighboring store front... Menu was nothing crazy- same dishes/entrees as any other italian restaurants. I had never come before. Only went b/c my mom had been before with a friend and said friend thought this was a good restaurant. Disagree. Decor & ambiance was nice. Full bar. Clean & neat presentation. The hostess was nice & friendly.

Quaint, excellent service and the food is wonderful. The bathrooms smelled of bleach, a heavenly smell completed to all Other places in NYC. High five for sure!

A good spot for a mid-key business lunch. Large plates that are moderately priced, decent selection of meat and fish, spacious, clean, with pretty good fast service. The food is not superb, but very decent. Have been here many times and have always left with my expectations met. Would not recommend for a special occasion.

So I'm a fan butttt, he is the deal. When it was in queens they had a plate I always got called penne de visublio which is garlic snow peas artichokes in an awesome fantastic sun dry tomatoe sauce . It's not in the menu booooo They still have penne a la pasta lovers which is delish. Not a huge portion but satisfying. Ambiance is very nice and location is prime. City prices and I like it here. Food is good!

On a sunny weekday lunch hour, I was amazed to see how many places were packed with customers.. except this place. I passed by this place few times in the past and said to myself with name like this, pasta can't be that good.. Well, I gave it a try today and actually I was pleasantly surprised. Very nice service, and the chef's pasta ( green fettuccini topped with shrimp and scalops with pink sauce ) was very fresh and yummy with plenty of good size shrimp. I might come back soon and try few more pasta dishes.

I have to give this place a worthy praise. My wife and I past this place on Valentines Day and with no reservation they welcomed us. Sat us in the perfect seats. We had a view from the raised platform area of the dining area. The food was made very good from a real brick oven. The service from Juan our server was on point. I will return here when I am in the area again. Enjoy

one of the best restaurants in New York, for sure! Order the pasta with Bolognese (meat sauce) you will not regret it! every time my family and I visit New York (which is often) we always go here! especially if you just went shopping, ice skating, or even went to the top of the rock- the atmosphere combined with the outstanding service and great food, it's a win win win! definitely a must!!!!

Went on a Saturday night without reservations, BIG MISTAKE. Although there was a party of 4 with a reservation who also had a bit of a wait. A twenty minute wait went to a fifty minute wait, which isn't that bad but when your starving it's a lifetime. Also doesn't help they make the pizza right next to the bar and waiting area. The hostess told us the food is definitely worth the wait, so we decided to trust her. Now to the bar, the bartender was a older man maybe in his late 40s, could not handle the crowd. His back was turn towards the register the majority of the time, finally got a drink after ten minutes of waiting. Drinks are a bit pricey, and they do not have a great beer selection. But your in a Italian restaurant not a sports bar what do you except. I'm not a beer drinker just felt the need to state that. Finally getting to the table, the food is INCREDIBLE. Everything was delicious. My only complaint is the bread, we got a basket with two hard rolls. They weren't even warmed up, and the butter that came with it was frozen, very hard to put on the rolls. The rest of the dining experience was great. Big portions,I was nervous about getting the fried calamari thinking the fifteen dollar price wouldn't live up to the portion size, but it did. Even took home leftovers. For entree I got the ziti siciliana, it was so cheesy and mouth watering. There's chopped eggplant in it, when you find it, it's like a nice surprise. My boyfriend got the farfalle rosati, also very good. I'm not a fan of sun dried tomatoes but I didn't even taste them, the creamy tomato sauce the dish is in over takes the nasty sun dried tomato taste. We usually never order dessert when we go out but felt the need to here. We were torn between the molted chocolate cake and the tartufo, so we asked our waiter what he recommends, he told us the molted cake. At first I just thought it was because it was more money, but then it came out and OMG! I have dreams about this dessert, I know Applebee's and other chain restaurants have this but Pasta Lovers must put crack in there's or something.

The prices were good. I got a seared tuna salad. It had a ton of protein which kept me full much longer than expected. I felt that my salad was much better than everyone else's pasta. Everyone else's food seemed bland.

I would give Pasta Lovers 3.5 stars if I could. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. I was expecting larger portions for the price point. The lasagna was one of my favorites, along with a salmon/risotto dish.

For a place in the middle of midtown where every restaurant has an hour wait on weekends during the holidays, this was a good place. Its good to go when you want your food in a timely manner (I swear we didn't finish ordering and they were already putting it in front of us) and want more than just the regular commercial chain restaurant food.

This is my group's default business lunch spot. Semi-formal setting, I'm sure I like it though. The basic Italian fare is lack of imagination. The small menu left us very limited options, and food was definitely over-priced. With that said, things taste OK; the premium you pay is for the environment.

This place has genuine Italian food, no americanisms ;-) i.e. Pizza is done in the brick oven with thin bottom and high quality toppings. You get free bread as an appetizer which is amazingly crusty and spices to add to your food if you want. Inside it is spacious and very cosy, music is seasonal at average volume. Great service, too. To wrap it up it's a great place for lunch or dinner to escape from the hectic on the Broadway!

Very disappointed. Service and food both terrible. The margherita pizza is just sauce and cheese. Wine was served warm..literally. Complimentary dinner rolls were warm but clearly reheated. Kids enjoyed their barbeque pizza but its hard to screw that up. If it were not for the location I don't this place is worth visiting at all.

Had dinner here tonight it was delicious! We had the arugula salad, clams casino and margarita pizza and chicken parmigiana. All were delicious and the waitstaff was very welcoming. Big portions, loved the brick oven pizzas! Will be back !

I came here with some friends as I work around midtown and often pass this place. I arrived early and the staff was extremely nice and seated me right away to wait for my party. The restaurant is large and roomy and very comfortable. The staff was attentive and pleasant. They brought out rolls with butter first and then our entrees. I had the chicken parm dinner with angel hair pasta which was delicious although a bit overpriced in my opinion. My friends has 2 pasta dishes, a shells dish, and a carbonara. They enjoyed one but found the other a bit bland. For a place called pasta lovers, they were a bit disappointed. For 3 dinners our check was about $85 before tip. Overall I enjoyed the restaurant but may choose a less expensive option for a bowl of pasta.

Ordinary, if not bad, Italian food that is over priced for its quality. It is all about the overhead. Atmosphere 75 Refurbished hotel next to the McGraw Hill building Service 70 "Why are you bothering me" quality Food 70 Almost any Italian eatery has it beat Value 70 You are paying the landlord's bill Skip it even if you are in the mood for Italian food. Pricey Olive Garden quality.

Four of us went for dinner, we were all very pleased with the food. Three of us had seafood pasta dishes and one had chicken marsala (off menu). We also shared fried calamari. The linguine frutti di mare was plentiful with fresh seafood-- shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels. The maitre'd was extremely attentive, and asked the ladies if they would like a booth or regular table (it was fairly early for dinner, so we had open choice of table). We chose a booth and he pulled the table out for us so we didn't have to scoot around. By the time we left, around 6:45, the place was packed. The waiter wasn't exactly my cup of tea, he was a little pushy with specials, but none of us bit. Overall, I didn't have a problem with him, he kept drink refills coming... Which brings me to pricing. We definitely drank-- 7 glasses of wine and 3 Absolut drinks, and the total was almost $300, without tip, which I think seems high, but I guess for the area, it's about right. I didn't take note of how much a glass of wine was, but having asked for a house glass, I'm pretty certain we were given the house's most expensive glass. (I can't tell the difference so you could give me a glass from a $6 bottle and I would be just as happy.) I would go back, but wouldn't drink as much!

Despite some of the not so fond reviews I was pleasantly surprised. Service was fine. Made reservations and took us right in and the food was good. Just some of the basics. Not a high end Italian place just a neighborhood place to stop in. I would go again!

Well I had eaten a few times at the one located on Queens Boulevard.Unfortunately this location is now closed,it was more convenient as far as distance is concerned.I was in the City a few weeks ago and decited to give this one a try.Though the food was okay the service was definitely NOT.I went for Lunch and understand that it was a crazy time to go but there is no excuse for the service to be so horrendous. So I will not be going back. They only get a 3 stars because of location That s about it.

We ate at this hotel two years ago and were pleasantly surprised to run into it while walking back to our hotel this week-end. We stopped by for a quick drink on Thursday afternoon. Bill at the bar was very friendly. We stopped by again on Friday for another quick drink and then last night went for dinner after the Yankee game. Bill took care of us again. Will definitely go back when we visit NYC again.

Came here for a coworker's farewell party and was not impressed. The place has a nice and sleek layout but the lunch "specials" are nowhere near special. i had the eggplant and pasta special and it was a whopping $22.00 for the entree. I wouldnt return back, the pasta wasn't fresh made pasta and the eggplant was cooked in a very bland marinara sauce. Thanks but no thanks.

We ate here on Monday night, it wasn't to busy. We had horrible service not attentive at all and there was only 3 of us. The food was not real Italian food! If your Italian I would not go here! My husband had the mussels marinara and got sick almost immediately after leaving!! I would not go back or recommend this place to anyone!!

Very good food and insanely fast service! I are here with my wife and daughter on a Saturday night and while we ordered very simple, penne with vodka sauce to share and spaghetti and meatballs, it felt like the food was out within minutes of us ordering. All in all the place was nice, service was good, the price was right and most importantly the food was good.

Decent food, the mozz+tomato and basil was very good. I liked my spaghetti bolognese but my co-worker hardly touched her fillet of sole. Prices are a bit steep but I guess par for the course for the area... I would say this is an OK place to go, but not one that I will be jumping to go to again

I'm giving Pasta Lovers a 3-star despite my better judgment. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, even pointing us in the right direction as far as the enormously oversized menu was concerned. The reviews here sum it up, so there's no need to do more than essentially repeat the cliff notes: large portions, acceptable sauces and flavors, overpriced because - of course - you're in Times Square. Don't let the anti-tourist city ego get you down, though, because sometimes you find yourself in Times Square (and when you do, it's not easy to find a place that will get you inside, seated, and not tearfully expensive). The pizza is actually good, but you're in New York. There's better pizza within walking distance, though it might not be the kind of place you want to sit and take your time (might not be allowed to, as a matter of fact). In this world, you will have tribulation. You will pay more than you should for food that disappoints. In some ways, that's the story of New York. If your head's wrapped around the idea, then Pasta Lovers isn't the worst place on earth. They could certainly jumpstart business by giving it a better name. Not only does Pasta Lovers smack of cliche chain marketing, but also, the pasta is actually the most underwhelming thing we ordered. Just my opinion, of course.

I went here on Friday for a casual dinner around 6pm. It was not crowded, so there was no wait. The heat was just right as it was nippy outside and the Christmas decorations were tasteful;-) I had the Cesar Salad and the Margarita Pizza. The thin crust, sauce and cheese were just right. Usually I don't comment on the complementary bread, but this one needed a review because it was toasted and I love when I get warm bread and butter, it makes such a big difference. The hostess and waiters were great ! In my book, Pasta lovers was Reasonable for the area , Comfortable because of decor and the large dinning area and yummy because the food was very tasty.

Came with a few friends for a friends birthday. Chicken parmigiana was my choice, ziti theirs. Pretty decent food. Only thing which is unusual for me to complain about (since i love mozzarella cheese) was the amount of it that was on each platter. The bread i definitely enjoyed as well as the mozzarella fritta con marinara we had ordered. One thing i didn't quite see right was it being overpriced. Next, It comes in huge portions, so if you're one that can put it away. By all means, dig in. If not taking the rest to go is the best choice. Overall it's a good place to dine, service was okay. I left pretty full, not to mention the amount of times the waiter served us water!

Great location, nicely decorated inside. My daughter and I came in, party of two. Were told 10 minutes wait. People who arrived after us were being seated as we continued to wait. 45 patient minutes later, I inquired and was told just another ten minutes. After ten minutes I asked if I could have a complimentary soda because we had waited so much longer than what we were originally told. I asked to speak to the manager who informed me "This is New York, I don't have to do anything for you. Why should I seat you two when I have an eight header open? Hell, no you can't have a coke." What???? In front of my daughter no less. The only reason we stayed is because I didn't want her going hungry. I'd rather go somewhere else and eat later than be treated like this. After the overpriced, burned on the sides lasagna and pizza (kind of like someone else pointed out, an overpriced olive garden), we were offered a free cake for desert. Unreal. I told them to have the manager eat it. Giving a customer a free coke and treating them nicely goes such a long way, these people should be in another line of work, not hospitality.

Chicken parm had to be sent back. Red sauce tastes like a middle of the road jar sauce. One of my guests got turned off and just had some pasta and another one is already feeling sick after just a couple bits. A real disappointment for a ny Italian joint, even though it's in touristy theater district. Stay away!! A restaurant that makes me worried about the 2 hr drive home.

Always delicious and consistent food! First off, warm bread rolls start the meal off in a great way. Freshly made brick over pizza is awesome, have had the margarita and the buffalo chicken (only note is that I would prefer more sauce/heat on the buff chick). The ceasar salad is my favorite. I've also had the penne ala vodka and the salmon entrees. Both fresh and delicious. The pasta is flavorful and not too heavy while the salmon is fresh and light. Havent tried the desserts but i'd be willing to. All in all, a great find! Spacious and accomodating, definitely recommend for families and big groups.

This is super close to my husband's office so we do frequent dinners here. The food and service are solid, especially for Midtown. Not touristy and I haven't had a single meal I didn't enjoy. The pizzas are great, the sauces flavorful and I adore the bread. Nothing has knocked my socks off, but I always leave full and happy!

Honestly a pretty good place. The inside is elegant with many tables and a decent amount of space in between the tables. There were also several large tables (and large groups of tourists* w/ screaming kids). It's good that they cater to large groups, although most of the ppl I saw were business lunch ppl. The prices are reasonable (although not an amazing deal or anything) for midtown. The servers favor speed over basically everything else. The food: App: The Caesar salad was good. The lettuce was fresh (although the pieces were quite large and required that they be cut down again with a knife), the croutons were very crunchy (home made?) and the dressing on the side was the perfect amount. We told them that we were ordering the salad to share, and they were kind enough to bring two small plates for us. Entree: The chilean sea bass was yummy - cooked perfectly, flavored beautifully, and while the size of the fish didn't make my eyes pop out, it was the perfect sized portion. Sadly, the lemon flavored asparagus risotto that came with it was good for aesthetic purposes, but didn't have much depth. There was lemon.. but if not for the small pieces of asparagus, I wouldn't even have known it was there. The grains of the risotto were also a bit on the al dente side... it was definitely edible, but it was not as creamy as the ones I tend to favor. The angel hair pasta in veggies looked very fresh (the veggies looked fresh, and the pasta just looked like pasta) and my lunch companion seemed to like it: Dessert: The tiramisu was ok - Needs more mascarpone cheese to give it that beautiful creamy texture, but the flavor was there. There was also a dab of whipped cream on the side. The warm chocolate cake was good. This was dark chocolate, so it's not as sweet as what you might be used to, but there was ice cream on top (nothing special about the vanilla ice cream) and a dab of whipped cream on the side. Now... the service: I had made a reservation, but when we stepped into the restaurant, we were taken immediately to a table (they were pretty empty so no need for reservations, I guess). The server asked me if we wanted something to drink. I said no - just some lemon w/ my water, and before my lunch companion could say anything, our server took off briskly. When he came back, my companion placed her order for a hot tea, which made me place an order for a latte. The server took our drink orders and then left quickly. The ordering went off without a hitch, and they were generally pretty good about not taking a plate away before we were finished (rolls eyes snidely in comparing this place to a recent Capital Grille lunch experience). However, our server came out w/ the entrees, and before we could say a word, he had sat them down and walked away. No offer of cheese, ground pepper... not even a word saying "enjoy/here you go/[anything else]" Had to flag down another server to get some cheese over the entrees, and fresh pepper. When we finished our entrees, we realized that our hot beverage orders never came, so we asked that they cancel the order. Then we ordered an espresso and tiramisu. They apologized for the drink mix-up and said they'd look into it. When the dessert came out, they had also brought out a complementary warm chocolate cake as an apology for the missing drinks... heck - if you're going to give me a free dessert, you're welcome to forget ALL the drinks! (Well, not the water, which they did a great job of keeping filled). All in all, while the service was a bit spotty, the servers were nice and seemed to be a bit short-staffed? Love how they handled the problem w/ the drink and I think I would come back here for a quick business lunch. The food came out decently quickly (for an Italian restaurant) and they were also pretty fast about getting you the check and dessert stuff. --------------------------------- * Or groups of large tourists... haha - I'm just kidding... they were all normal people sized.

Stopped in for a post-show bite to eat and wasn't really wowed. The atmosphere is nice - but it doesn't match the cuisine. We opted for the margherita pizza, which was okay - not a standout, but okay. The server we had was great - very friendly and attentive. It seems like the menu is just sort of "meh", and it was pricey for what you were getting.

    (2)
  • Dave S.

The brick oven pizza is pretty good. Good thin crust. The Caesar Salad was meh. Cheese didn't taste like parm reg. Just some generic parm. Dressing was okay. Didn't have any anchovy zing to it. Happy hour looks interesting. They have a lot of pizzas lined up. That looks like the hot tip.

The location, ambiance, and service are great. But the food was not! It didn't taste bad, as in spoiled or anything, just super bland. We visit the city often (every 2-6 weeks) for work and are always looking for new great Italian places. This place had good reviews, so we thought we'd try it. I liked that they didn't seat everyone right on top of one another like most restaurants do (everywhere, not just crowded NYC). The hot bread rolls and butter were delicious! My wine was too. My fiancé ordered capellini with meat sauce. Simple enough. I had their special, linguini with chicken and peas in Alfredo. Both required copious amounts of salt and that didn't even fix the blandness. The meat sauce was not red like tomato based spaghetti sauce should be. It didn't taste like normal spaghetti. The Alfredo was disappointing too. Hard to describe, but not cheesy or flavorful. Instead it reminded me of what low carb or whole wheat noodles taste like (cardboard). The worst part was dessert. I ordered the warm Morton chocolate cake (lava cake). I make these at home on special occasions, so I know they take about 9 min in the oven. The batter can be pre made, but the cake should always be baked fresh, which is easy at only 9 min baking time. It came to the table in about 3 min. And there was no vanilla ice cream, which is the FIRST time I've ever had a lava cake served without a small scoop of ice cream. I was prepared to be disappointed since I knew they must have microwaved it. Sure enough, almost no "lava", super hot with the typical microwave 'hotspots' and spongy. I still had a good time because of my company and we sat there for a long time in the candlelight, deep in conversation with a good glass of wine, but I will not return as the food was awful... (and was not inexpensive, each pasta plate was $20). It's a shame for such a good location, great atmosphere and attentive service to go to waste because of the bland food. Pasta Lovers: Get a new chef!

I have visited Pasta Lovers Trattoria at least a dozen times over the past few years, and I have never had a bad experience -- in food or in service. I think the name of this place is a misnomer because it sounds more like a fast-food pasta place than a full-service Italian restaurant. My personal favorite is the Portobello Wrap. Service is good and friendly. Nice bar scene also. The prices seemed moderate for midtown.

UPDATE: I had to drop this spot down to 2 stars. A solid "meh." Quality is slipping. Service is slower. Food is pricier, but not better. Still an OK spot if you have to be in Times Square. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Time Square - but I only go here when I absolutely have to be in Times Square. I used to live closer to it and would meet friends who work in that area. They always seat you right away, the food is consistent, the service is good and the wine selection is great. Very moderately priced for that area. It's a big open space so it's a little easier to ignore all the tourists and their strollers. About the name: Every time I recommend this place to someone, I have to preface it with, "Ignore the name. I know it sounds cheesy but..." I wish I didn't have to do that.

Not the greatest food in the world, but pretty good and affordable for being in the middle of Midtown/Theater District-Hell. I've been here twice, both times while I happened to be in the neighborhood with friends who work around there. Certainly not a place I'd go out of my way to go to, but worth it if you're in the mood for basic no frills Italian at a reasonable price for Times Fucking Square.

Surprisingly big and nice inside. I had expected a small trattoria type place, instead it was a sprawling dining hall that was fancier than your generic pizza and pasta place. Good warm bread, and plenty of offerings on the menu. Ordered the Chef's Special Pasta - which was green fresh tagliolini with sea scallops and shrimp in a tomato cream sauce. Disappointed because -- THERE WERE NO SCALLOPS!!! Despite that, the pasta was delicious. I believe they overcompensated for not having scallops by covering my pasta with shrimp. Other orders at the table included: Capellini Puttanesca (angel hair pasta with black olives, capers, anchovies in a garlic tomato sauce) - too salty and practically inedible. My friend took most of it home (to recook!) Spaghetti Bolognese (regional italian style meal sauce) - looked like chili with pasta in it... Overall -- the dish I ordered was good and I'd order it again. Not so sure about the other dishes.

Huge portions; pretty good place for lunch - Calamari- it was ok - Fried Mozzarella- it was ok - Linguine Vongole- not the best i've ever had but not bad either it was a HUGE portion though and i was full for hours The clams were a mix of some still in the shell, but mostly minced; kinda weird for a mid-range restaurant. Fairly reasonable prices- my vongole (it really could have fed 2 people) was $16.95

On one hand, the host staff is compiled of some of the most ignorant people in the restaurant industry, but on the other, the waitstaff was incredibly friendly and patient. The food was pretty good, I had the whole wheat linguine with artichokes, sundried tomatoes, and garlic, in an olive-oil based sauce. The portion was huge, and had the takeout container not leaked, I would have had at least 3 meals out of it.

This place is very accommodating, if you don't see something on the menu or want to change pastas they'll make it at your request. My favorite is salmon with penne pasta in a light tomato & garlic sauce. It's not on the menu, but they always make it for me. Their portions are huge so be prepared to take home! We come here every year for my dept holiday dinner. Everyone can agree on pasta, I mean who doesn't like pasta!? Everyone always gets something different and is satisfied with the variety of choices. The warm bread is good and the service is wonderful. It's a pretty big place and accommodate large groups.

I went here last night with my family around 8pm before going to see the tree in Rockefeller Center. This place has a perfect location, and is one of the more affordable places in the area (it's neighbors are Oceana, Sushiden and Del Friscos...). It was pretty cold and rainy out, so we were glad to find it warm and homey inside the restaurant. It's all hardwood inside with slightly dim lighting, candles, and tasteful Christmas decorations. Almost all the tables were full when we got there, and many families had young children, which thankfully didn't interfere with our meal too much. Although they seemed a little understaffed, the waiters were pretty attentive and professional. Overall, the food was just okay. I had the lobster ravioli, which came in a really delicious vodka cream sauce, but the ravioli filling barely tasted like lobster and was a little darker than the filling in most lobster ravioli I''ve had elsewhere...which made it kind of an unappetizing mystery ravioli... it tasted good enough, but I wouldn't order it again. My brother had the carbonara - good, but not great, and my mom had the penne con broccoli - bland and boring until the waiter brought parmesan cheese over. The best part of the meal was definitely dessert - we split the molten chocolate cake which was exceptionally good. Three pastas, one dessert, and three coffees came to $85, which is super reasonable for the area. I'd rather go somewhere else/pay more for more flavorful food though.

Meh. Large portion. Mediocre pasta. Cold butter you can't spread. Took forever to get our food. With better Italian restaurants just a few blocks away at comparable prices, I can't recommend this place.

Popped in here because my dining companions were simply too tired to walk another step. It turned out not to be a terrible choice. Food- Ok. Definitely 3 stars, nothing to write home about. I had the Rustica Pizza and it was good, but nothing fabulous. P had the salad and she wasn't thrilled but said it was ok. D had the chicken cordon bleu and he seemed to truly like it a lot. It was covered in mushrooms, though, which I thought was odd. Service- 2 to 3 stars. The guys at the front were more like bouncers and didn't seem to get that we actually wanted to eat there, not just use the bathroom. Lol. The food service was fine but, inexplicably, my pizza came out almost ten minutes after everyone's food. No explanation at all. Also, they charge per soda, no refills. I can deal with that but usually in a fancier place and I like to know in advance. They tried to be cute by bringing sodas real quick. Just annoying. Decor- Nice. It added to the meal and felt like we were eating out somewhere, not just grabbing some food.

Our experience Floor manager scolding waiters loudly in front of diners. Serving staff not fluent in English. Food boring with no sense of seasonings or depth of sauces. Cavernous room with little ambiance aside from football game on TV at bar blaring. You can do a lot better in NYC.

We had dinner at Pasta Lovers tonight before the theater and we had a wonderful meal. Two different types of pasta - one being the special of the evening. The food was wonderful and the service probably some of the best we've had in five days in NYC. Granted - it was early and not busy - but we couldn't have been better cared for. The decor is definitely upscale. The prices were not cheap - but it is uptown Manhattan and they certainly weren't out of line. We will definitely do it again.

Over priced. Mediocre food and small portions. I got sick after eating the farfalle and cream sauce. The servers were absent and not attentive yet the place was deserted. I won't go back.

My wife and I have been here twice now, the first time was with two friends went here about 2 years ago. Back then I remember the food not being great, and the price being reasonable. This time around, my wife insisted we go here for her birthday, I can't imagine how it left such and impression on her, but I was happy to take her. The prices blew me away. Someone here said the prices were reasonable, they're not. They're about right for the theater district sky high and ridiculous. We each had a house salad, nothing but a VERY small salad of lettuce and 4, count them, 4 cherry tomatoes, $10. Really? A $10 salad? Give me some eggs and bacon in that b1tch for $10. They give you these TINY cups of soda so of course we kept ordering them, $2.50 per refill. In the end, we just had salads, and our entrees (both on a diet) and the check came to $76 and change. There are AWESOME Italian places where we've gone to in NYC where we'll have wine, beer, appetizers, etc, and a fine meal and not break $60 for two. The service was good, I must say, nice friendly people, but the prices and food are not worth your time. If I want nice people I'll go to Connecticut.

We enjoyed our Tuesday evening dinner here very much. Menu had a nice selection. I had a ravioli special, and my husband had a chicken wrap. Service was friendly and prompt. Decor was attractive, and noise level was, low. We will return.

OK, so it wasn't terrible, and I would go back again. I guess. Maybe. I'd kick and scream a bit though. I had the Rigatoni alla Vodka. Good sized portion. It actually tasted good, but you can find much better for the same price in other Italian restaurants. The atmosphere was very touristy. It sort of felt like an Olive Garden. Not to knock Olive Garden of course.

  • Adam Z.

The sad part about Pasta Lovers is that I'm sure there are plenty of tourists who have stopped in for dinner and left thinking that this is what NYC Italian is supposed to taste like. My meal last night was bland at its best (minestrone soup) and downright weird tasting at worst (marinara on my pasta). The bread reminded me of day old packaged dinner rolls. The only reason to go to Pasta Lovers is when your other option is The Olive Garden. Otherwise, take the time to walk over to 9th Ave.

We had a quick food break there yesterday and were frustrated. The place looked almost first class, but it was all illusion. A very regular Caesar salad for big $$. The pasta my wife got was under-cooked, they took it back and cooked more (how? I didn't understand). It was still uneatable. A bottle of "Acqua Panna" water a waiter has brought us has been already opened. It tasted actually as a regular tap water. We asked him to bring us a closed bottle and open it at the table - no way, he argued with us and didn't do that. Then we saw that they bring opened bottles to all customers. $7 for a bottle of nice NYC tap water? The veal francese I had was fine though. Nevertheless we won't be back there, never.

Bad food, even worse service. I went there to meet some friends at the bar for dinner. The bar maybe had about 3 people at it and the bartender ignored me for an extended period of time. Being a bartender myself, I know the job isn't easy so I let it slide. I eventually order my food, a calzone with broccoli rabe and shrimp. When I receive it, it had cold waterlogged shrimp and raw hard broccoli ( not broccoli rabe). When I say something to the bartender she told me they didn't have broccoli rabe so they just replaced it without informing me. I was absolutely starving and in a bit of a rush so I ate about half the calzone anyways. It was not discounted, and the bartender was brutal to get anything from. There are way to many great places in NYC to ever waste your time with this place!

I took some clients along with a collegue to this place. Our clients were the once that chose and recommended this place so I was already skeptical (like always) from jump street. So the place didn't totally disappoint. The only place I can really compare their cooking to was my cooking at home. And being that I feel that I can make a waaaaay better pasta dish then they can, they only get two stars from me. Plus I figure it could've been worst....The pasta may not have been Al Dente or the corporate card might have been rejected! $175 for lunch!....Yikes!

This spot looks tiny from the street, but the restaurant reaches far back and has a lot of seating. The bar upfront seemed to be the cool place to be, but we were seated in the main dining area. Food was good. We ordered a decent bottle of red wine, had calamari, margherita pizza and penne vodka. Nothing blew my mind, but it was enjoyable. I think the proximity to other cool venues is a highlight. Service was good. I'd go back if you twisted my arm and gave me wine.

Not cheap, but nothing in midtown is (except for the Halal stand). Dishes tried: *Baked ziti with eggplant - YUMMY. Lots of cheese and a tomato base. Creamy and portion was big. I couldn't finish it! *Tortellini with cheese & cream sauce - very flavorful *Veal Piccata - husband liked it. ' Nuff said. *Chicken Caesar Salad - also a huge portion. Can't say much about a salad *Dinner salad - large and can be shared. Good vinaigrette. Our waiter was very friendly, but it was a slow night. Nice atmosphere.

I was really hoping for a better experience. The appetizers were average at best. We waited almost an hour for the main course. When it finally came it was cold and had no flavor. We sent it back and the waiter was polite about it. Maybe if the guys in suites standing at the top of the steps did more then call tables things would he running more smoothly.

My family and I walked around Manhattan all day and were finally ready for dinner around 5pm. We were near Radio City and knew nothing that was near there so we jumped on Urban Spoon and found Pasta Lovers. There was no wait and the restaurant was mostly empty. It had a really warm environment. The bread was fresh and warm! The service was quick and friendly and everyone enjoyed their meals. Would defiantly recommend to others.

Was catching a show around the corner so we decided to give this place a shot (in the mood for Italian). Unfortunately nothing was really great about this place. Service was extremely slow and inattentive and the food wasn't anything special. Ordered the chicken parm, which wasn't bad but wasn't that good either. The spaghetti and sauce that is given on the side was fine, but very skimpy on the sauce. Overall, I imagine their are too many decent Italian places to eat at in NYC before this place.

  • Amy C.

The menu lives up to the restaurant's name but the quality and flavors are missing. I've only came here for lunch meetings and once for dinner, but it's never my first (or even second) choice. If you want good pasta, go to Little Italy.

    (3)
  • Ken S.

Great meal, we got the baked ziti and chicken parm. Both were excellent. Only grief was that the waitstaff disappeared after the food was served. Would have liked a refill on water or wine during the meal.

Service was terrible. waiter rushed us to order, had to tell him "no" several times when he kept trying to get me to order drinks. the whole wheat linguini tasted like cardboard. the sun dried tomatoes and artichokes were way too overpowering and made my dry pasta taste sour. waiter would not change the tv to the knicks game, so i had to get up and personally ask the bartender myself. food was awful and a rip-off.

While only a few, there are things I miss about Stone Street. Sure, my job sucked and I never could get used to the security with machine guns, but man, the pasta? Oh yeah, the pasta. Now I'm up here in midtown and there's supposed to be good pasta, right? Well, I just haven't found it yet. At least not anything that's particularly close to my job at 30 Rock. Oh well, can't have everything I guess. This place is decent. It's actually not that expensive for the area and the food is good, but great? Not in my experience. I ordered a standard pasta with vodka sauce so maybe there's better on the menu. My friend swears that some of the dishes are made from scratch. I'll probably go back and try again just because my firm doesn't offer a subsidized cafeteria and I can't eat the same thing twice in a row. I'll let you know if it gets any better.

The food here is ok. This is where me and my colleagues go when we don't feel like eating at our desks. They serve salads, pizza, sandwiches, pasta and standard italian fare. Seating during lunch is generally very prompt. I never had to wait. The service is quick. Perfect place for a quick meal if you want to keep it under an hour.

I had a grilled chicken pesto panini that was really good. I will be going here again for lunch when in the NYC office. The menu had lots of options.

Walked in on a Thursday evening about a half hour before closing. Staff was still attentive and happy to see me. Salmon with lemon cream sauce, red skin mashed potatoes and green beans made for a tasty healthy dish at a reasonable price (price especially for the theatre district of Manhattan). Nothing stellar, but I will go back next time I am in town.

  • Irene F.

Bah. I don't like Italian food much, and this was pretty overpriced Italian food. My turkey wrap ended up costing me $13. Too much...could have gotten the same at Pax or Pret for half the price. Yes, avocado was a nice touch, as was fresh mozzarella, but really, for $13, it better have some nice freakin touches. Entrees were definitely pricey, about $20...sorry Charlie, I doubt I'll be back. Also, pretty slow service for midtown lunch rush!

    (2)
  • Sakeenah M.

They're heavy handed with the seafood in the pasta bowl. Nice! When I worked in the area we treated some co-workers who were leaving the job. I remember having a hard time finishing my meal it was so plentiful. There's also lots of seating, which is a plus during midtown lunch hours.

    (4)
  • Andy H.

Decent Italian food in the theater district. I have been here on more than one occasion and enjoyed it. I was not blown away by it, but it was pasta...how bad can it be? The sauces were always tasty and the breads soft and filling. Good service and a good spot for a pregame to a Broadway show.

  • Jen H.

Been writing a lot of negative reviews lately so am balancing my karma....Pasta Lovers is a great "old reliable" place. Prices are reasonable for midtown, and the food is quite good. I especially love the "Chef's Special Pasta," which is basically penne in pink sauce with shrimp and scallops. It's great for groups as they have a huge selection of food. They also serve 2 for 1 drinks at happy hour, so you gotta love that!

    (4)
  • Edward I.

Ideal only if you're taking a client out to eat and not want to be bothered by waiting in line if you're in the area. They give a decent serving but not as much as what you'd expect from an Italian places from your hometown. Location is around the corner from Times Square. A little pricey, you'll pay about 25-30 bucks per person if you include desert and coffee.

    (3)
  • Annie Y.

We came here for a happy hour - they have half off house wines. They do a very generous poor of the wines and the red is decent. We got the fried calamari and while the breading was too thick, the calamari was very fresh. It came with a side of marinara sauce. We also got a large margarita pizza that was cut into 12 slices. I didn't expect much but for some reason the pizza was surprisingly addicting: there was something about the cheese that was very tantalizing. I kept on wanting to eat more. The crust itself was seven and a little crunchy. Overall the food was surprisingly good although it wasn't consistently good like the breading was too thick on the calamari and the pizza wasn't consistently crunchy on the dough side. I say this is a pretty good place to go for a quick happy hour after work but I haven't tried their dinner experience.

DISGUSTING at first glance looks beautiful and atmosphere is nice but the dishes and glasses are absolutely unacceptable I had chunks of food on the outside of my water glass and inside my wine glass I also had God knows what floating in it...the plates were dirty it's just gross DO NOT RECOMMEND

Best service I've had since I got to New York. They made conversation easily and you were never left with a dull moment. Food was outstanding. Moderately priced. Ordered the spaghetti and meatballs (simple dish, hard to mess up) as we were waiting we received bread that looked great but was very tough and stale. When my dish came, my biggest fear came to fruition: the meatballs were frozen i.e. not made at the restaurant, but store bought. For a place that is fairly close to times square and charges $20 a plate, why on earth are you serving frozen meatballs? They were tough, dry, and lacked flavor. No thanks.

Waiter was very nice...person bussing tables was taking dishes before my fork hit the table..very annoying... Love italian food, ate in little Italy for lunch, but did not love this resturant. Ordered clams as appetizer, they smelled off...pizza was pretty good and veal was okay. Pasta with meat sauce was not my cup of tea. Unfortunately, not worth the money we spent..

Came here for farewell to employee dinner (transfer). Group of 7, so mandatory Tipp. Waiters were reactive (slow) with poor meal pacing- one water refill before the check came. Had to find waiter to pay after waiting 20 min with check. Cozy atmosphere. Food was pretty good. I would only come back if I thought it would be faster next time. 2.5 stars.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! We always make it a point to stop here either before or after a broadway show. It is conveniently located between all of the theaters, times square, and Rockefeller Center. All of the food is great, but I love the Salmon and Caesar Salad. It is a great place for large groups, with comfortable seating and a dish for everyone. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great meal in Times Square.

Very fast service. We had a show at 7 and showed up at 6 and we were able to get seated quickly, served quickly, and pay the bill quickly. Overall, very good service and the food was great also. Great choice for anybody who loves pasta and enjoys a nice restaurant with good decor and service.

The inside is beautiful and the food is beyond amazing. I had the seafood pasta and the seafood was cooked perfectly! Everything was very tasty- will def. come back again. Only reason I didn't give it five stars was it took a little while for them to get our wine. Also they were out of one of the bottles we wanted.

Stopped in here on a whim on our way to a show and was pleasantly surprised. Have a great Happy Hour from 4-8pm everyday with a large list of house wines to choose from. We were in a hurry and the bartender made sure we got our plate quickly. Split the Pasta Special - Smoked chicken ravioli with peas and mushrooms in a cream sauce - perfectly cooked and very yummy!

The food was mediocre at best. Not a place to eat while you are in NYC. So many better places to eat. The veal parm was almost inedible and the ziti with eggplant had about 4 pieces of eggplant. The only redeeming quality was the waiter. He was extremely friendly and the only positive of our dinner.

Hey, how about a little truth in advertising! A better name for this place should be : "For Pasta Lovers Who've Never Had Real Pasta". The bolognese sauce that came with my linguine was ok, but the pasta was clearly out of a box and definitely not al dente. More like al mushy. Olive Garden does a better pasta. Move on.

Seating area was nice and we were seated right away. Salads were decent. Pizza (Buffalo Chicken) was not good. Little flavor and generally disappointing. Most of all the service was terrible. How long should it take to get a coke?.... Not 15 minutes when the restaurant is near empty.... This happened again when it came to get the check... Come on. Soda is not free refill and is $3.50 a piece. I do not recommend this place.

To say that this place is a bit of a hole in the wall from the outside is an understatement. It blends in with the Thai, Indian and Japanese places that surround it. But once you step inside, you're greeted with an atmosphere that boldly states "upscale". The front room is dedicated to just grabbing a quick slice or having a few cocktails. Once you step upstairs, an elegant dining room greets you that's flanked by large, expansive mirrors and wine bottles in the other wall. My girlfriend and I ordered a crab cake to start while I had an extra sausage pizza and she had the grilled salmon. The crab cake was perfection, topped with a salad of sorts and everything just blended together into a masterpiece. Every bite of the food was sublime. Heaven followed every chew and it made us want more. The salmon was done to PERFECTION and the cold salad underneath was new and different for us, but very refreshing and delicious. The pizza was bliss, simply put. The fresh mozzarella that covered the pie, the just right amount of tomato sauce, the thin and perfect New York style crust, the perfectly seasoned sausage... I was just blown away. The surprise at the end was the carrot cake. It is SO rare to order a slice of carrot cake without walnuts in it, but they have it! Every bite was perfectly blended with nutmeg and cinnamon and nirvana. Yes, nirvana. We even had to take another slice home after dinner! And to top it all off, our server Miguel has to be the best server we've ever had at ANY restaurant. Friendly, courteous, funny, just a pleasure to be around. Ask for him, trust me! In all, I'm glad we happened upon this while looking for sushi. Yeah, started with sushi and ended up with possibly the best Italian restaurant near or in the Theater District.

A friend and I found this place by accident after staying at a hotel very close by. We just wanted a pasta dish and sometimes with all the restaurants in NYC, you can easily get overwhelmed. The hotel recommended this, and off we went. Truth is, we weren't expecting much, but we knew we could get what we had been craving. Surprisingly, the spaghetti bolognese was some of the best we've ever had. I have no idea what I had been eating from childhood until now, but this set a new standard to meat sauce, it was that good. On subsequent visits, I have been back and I have yet to be disappointed. It's a decent standby, and I always know what I'm in for. The only thing that has changed over the years is the obvious: price. My goal here is to actually finish my meal since I always end up leaving a little more than I'd like. I know people may complain how it's not authentic Italian food, well I guess I don't like authentic Italian food then.

One of my favorite pasta restaurants! I've been going here about 1-2 times a year for over five years. I remember it being more popular back then though.

Move on.

Not at all what waiter described - mediocre - lobster ravioli drowning in tomato heavy sauce ;( Taste ok But where's the lobster Not much more to say had to press waiter for ingredients - disappointing special tasted not so fresh.

Very average food. Service also mediocre. I didn't get much of an Italian vibe in the restaurant. For sure I would not dine here again. I will not recommend this place to anybody.

Decent food, the mozz+tomato and basil was very good. I liked my spaghetti bolognese but my co-worker hardly touched her fillet of sole.

The menu lives up to the restaurant's name but the quality and flavors are missing. I've only came here for lunch meetings and once for dinner, but it's never my first (or even second) choice. If you want good pasta, go to Little Italy.

They're heavy handed with the seafood in the pasta bowl. Nice! When I worked in the area we treated some co-workers who were leaving the job. I remember having a hard time finishing my meal it was so plentiful. There's also lots of seating, which is a plus during midtown lunch hours.

Decent Italian food in the theater district. I have been here on more than one occasion and enjoyed it. I was not blown away by it, but it was pasta...how bad can it be? The sauces were always tasty and the breads soft and filling. Good service and a good spot for a pregame to a Broadway show.
