Good meatballs and decent pizza not better then Paulie gees at ALL ... Especially with the terrible terrible terrrrrrrrrrrrible service we got. Don't come here if you want to be treated like they don't want you there in the first place.

Came in for an early dinner on a friday night and the place was mostly empty. Though empty, I still received the WORST service of my life. I am a former waitress who consistenly overtips for mediocre service in solidarity. For the first time in my life, I was compelled to leave a meager tip for supremely horrid service. I sat for 20 minutes before being asked for my drink order, firstly. The food came in a timely manner, but when finished eating, waited another 30 minutes before our waitress came by to wrap up our leftovers. Now, is it just me or is the wrapping of leftovers a sign to your server that your meal is indeed over? Well, she did not get the picture and after repeated attempts to get anyone's attention, the bill finally came after 30 minutes and an obnoxious hand-wave/shout that we were ready for the bill. Though the food was tasty, yet balnd, I will never come here again. Go at your own risk, or better yet, get takeout.

I love Fornino. No 'tude, terrific thin-crust pizza, nice-looking place, comfortable. We like the cheeseless marinara. A pizza joint that offers a marinara pie knows its business. Have also gone for the margarita and others, and am pleased they don't drown their pizzas in the (very good) mozzarella. Also like the large antipasti platter. Fornino offers an evil antipasto of soft polenta in a small cast iron skillet, topped with cheese (was it gorgonzola?), wild mushrooms and rosemary, finished in the pizza oven. Dag, it's good.

I absolutely love this place. The pizza was nothing short of fantastic. This was one of the first pizza places in my hood that I checked out and I was pretty impressed to say the least. When you are looking for pizza on the more gourmet end of things with adventurous flavors, this is a great spot in lovely little B-burg. I ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza which was tasty! One of the other things I really enjoyed about Fornino is the ambiance. It was super laid back and casual, with darker lighting and their music selection that night was a throwback to some of my favorite 90's R&B jams.

This place kept me in the neighborhood, period. I was sick of how lamely follower-chic my once outsiderdomed neighborhood had become, and thought if I was going to get no stimulation from my surroundings, I might as well go to California where atleast the weather would be nice. BUT THEN CAME FORNINO. So there but for the grace of God.... Eating this pizza can only be compared to eating a really good chocolate cake. The way it melts in your mouth. The way it fills you with wonder. The way you think "Can it get any better?" ... the way you tilt your head til it hits lightly upon the wall, soaking up your inner-gasms. If you're not in Manhattan to get you some Lombardi's or John's BRICK OVEN WONDERLUST, then you need you some Fornino's. Patsy's, good luck! No one in Brooklyn can match these maestros!!!!!! Their DELIVERED pies are even BETTER, as the additional time staying hot in the box compresses the cheese and crust into one naughty congealed love potion of pizza. (oh, and check out the hand-crafted pizza shaped light fixtures created by the owner artiste!!! Niiice!)

pretty good pizza, but far from what they're bragging about!

Board Of Health Needs To Visit. The person who adds the fixings onto the pizza does not wear gloves. He reached underneath his shirt scratching parts of his body and than proceeded to place his bare hands in the grating cheese and sprinkle it onto the pizza. I have never witnessed anything like this before. Never Ever Going Back.

I'm very surprised about all the favorable reviews here. I found Fornino to be a bit disappointing. Where it's positioned right by the train stop, at the busiest intersection in Bedford, and offering the abstract concept of "Blending Art and Pizza" all sound very promising but I didn't really see any blending of art and pizza in decor or food design--it's brick oven pizza with classic Italian ingredients. With that quotation over the door I was expecting a play on brick oven pizza which as a baking method has become somewhat trendy recently, but it alone isn't a new discovery. Be careful when you suggest something enticing and then don't make that delivery clear. Of the two pizzas we ordered one was successful and one was not. The good one contained roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, and goat cheese it was rich and delicious. The other pizza contained overly salty prosciutto and a very dry form of weedy green (looking like broccoli, tasting like grass). I could see the combination in theory of a salty meat and a bitter green but both were too extreme and the combination didn't actually bode together that well. Additionally, service to me is usually a non-factor unless it's astounding or lacking, but I found the staff very removed and inattentive as I repeatedly had to ask for water. If you're going to serve me like a toddler with a sippy-cup sized glass than be attentive and filler up mom. I also take some offense to ordering a pizza and receiving a lot of dry and useless outter crust. For pies that are already small to begin with it cuts down on the already small topping area. Overall, the place was okay. I've eaten brick oven pizza I've liked more which makes less hullabaloo about itself.

I love this place. Absolutely love it. There were times I'd come here every weekend, and then I'd have to stop because I'd notice my jeans getting tighter.. My favorite is the bianca.. It's just so amazing... But one evening, I went there with my boyfriend and as I'm eating my pizza, I see a little bug crawling around by my coke. Thinking it was a fly, no big deal, I blow it away. It tumbles across the table.. didn't fly away.. no wings.. not a fly.. I then realize it was a roach............................. It was gone by the time I was able to kill it or point it out to anyone (my boyfriend didn't even see it because the huge platter they put on the table makes it difficult to see the person across from you). I ate the rest of my meal very freaked out--thoroughly examining my pizza for any questionable ingredients. I kept glancing at the wall to my left, praying I don't see the bug again. Once we got the check, I left so fast. I should have complained but I had no real proof.. =/ I now refuse to go there. I'm just too freaked out. I can't have an enjoyable meal knowing there are bugs crawling around. I mean, it is Brooklyn, and I'm sure I've eaten at other bug infested places, but when you see it crawling on your table................. Now I need to find another pizza place that has pizza as phenomenal as theirs.

Mediocre pizza with fancy toppings. The menu is a bit overwhelming, I think next time I would stick to the simpler items. We ordered a Funghi Misti (mixed wild mushrooms, caciocavallo, mozzarella, white truffle oil) and a Salsiccia Di Pollo (tomato, chicken sausage, broccoli rabe, mozzarella, bel pease, pecorino). The Salsiccia Di Pollo was not good. The broccoli rabe was too tough, the cheese was too thick and there was just too much going on with this pizza. It was almost a chore to eat it. The Funghi Misti, on the other hand, was much much better and tastier. The crust on both pizzas were good, if slightly thick. The portions are generous --- two large pizzas fed five of us, and we had two slices leftover. Unfortunately, those last two slices were the bland and unwanted Salsiccia Di Pollo. We ate in the back garden (tented for the winter, I guess). It was sufficiently warm but the service was pretty lackluster. Two pizzas took over an hour to be delivered to our table. Our waitress did bring us some bread to apologize but she mostly ignored us for the rest of the night.

So addicting. Trevisana is awesome. I ordered two large ones in a day. This isn't the kind of place you should just go if you're wanting a cheese pizza. Go for some speciality kind-- definitely worth it. The "side salad" is disappointing, though (we got it on the side of a calzone)-- it sort of feels like you're eating drenched weeds.

As anyone that knows me can attest, I love pizza. A LOT. I have also heard quite a lot of buzz about Fornino for a long while now. Good buzz. Normally, I am not too swayed by that sort of thing, but when one of my Italian (as in, from Italy) friends tells me they make delicious AND authentic pizza, I have to believe it. And the pizza here is scrumptious! It's definitely Naples-inspired, and definitely delicious. Anyone who loves good pizza, and cares enough to seek it out from the ubiquitous "just-ok" pizza joints in the city should go to Fornino. Hooray for the outside seating too!!! I likey! A LOT!

Mmmmmm! Definitely one of the better pizza places in NYC. The menu is pretty diverse, and includes standard pizzas and more creative pizzas, as well. It's worth it to splurge for the buffalo mozzarella when offered, because that's some serious cheesy goodness! Service was so-so - we ordered sangria that never turned up, and our waitress didn't come back to our table until she brought the pizzas, and by that time we didn't bother with it. Also, they brought my friend out the wrong pizza. They brought the correct one out fairly fast, but that was a little annoying. Still, the meal was so good that none of that put a damper on the experience. (I went back again recently, and the service was still bunk! The waitresses were all hanging out with the host in the front of the restaurant staring out the window. I thought surely something crazy and fascinating was going on out on the streets, but no... just people walking down the sidewalk. I waited for 10 minutes for more water while my waitress stared out the window and talked to her friend. )

This place serves up pretty good thin-crust pizza. Their pizza selections are split up into three sections (called generations); simple, medium, complex flavors. The more complex, the more ingredients/toppings on the pizza. I normally order complex, as I like to get the most out of my money. And I love prosciutto and arugula on my pizza. Pizzas come small or large; the large enough for two people. I call this a Gourmet Pizza Restaurant. And some the prices reflect this. Also on the menu are calzones and some antipasti selections. Dining room atmosphere is nice: wooden planks. They also have a garden in the back, which gets covered in the colder months. Service is quick and welcoming. This is my goto spot in Williamsburg when I want a good pizza. Pizza: 4 stars Price: 3 stars Bathroom: eeh.. ok.

Great menu offerings, amazing crust, creative ingredients, and a beautiful place but I must say I was so disappointed that I didn't get the roasted tomatoes on my pizza that were supposed to come on it, that it ruined my experience and I won't likely be back. For that price and the small amount of food you get (2 of us ordered a large and I could have ate it myself), I expect to get what I order, roasted tomatoes taste very different than cherry tomatoes cut in half.

This has become a stable for me. I order pizza delivery from here at least once as week. The fungi misti is the best I have every had. Prices are good, delivery quick. I have never eaten there but have passed it and it looks nice. Can't comment on the service though. I would endure pretty terrible service for such good food though.

As has already been discussed, it's NOT NY style pizza. It's something different and altogether wonderful. We love dining at Fornino, and eat there everytime we come back to Brooklyn. We're creatures of habit, so we always split a small 'Lombardi' (Thin Crust Pizza with Mozzarella, Arugala, Oil and Prosciutto) and a Calzone (the Chicken Sausage one). The food is great! The service is always good. The atmosphere is refined, yet very Williamsburg-y. A nice touch is the greenhouse on the back outdoor seating area. A nice green retreat from gray Williamsburg.

Proper wood fired pizza with good quality toppings! I went for the Margherita Classico, the only way to truly tell if a pizza is good on the first visit. The sauce was tasty, not too cheesy, and the crust in the middle was perfect. I will, however, note that usually the outer crust is my favourite part of the pizza but I did find this one a little thick on the edges. It is uncommon to find crusts on my plate but I did have to spare the crusts to focus on the pizza. Perhaps a pizza with more toppings would make the crust less dry?? Also, this is a personal thing...my initial reaction to the smell of the restaurant was not pleasant. Clearly everyone orders truffle oil on everything!! I understand truffle oil in moderation, but people - - please get over this fad!!! Truffle oil is not to be abused!! Also, the chopped salad was great :) And I thought the service was fine, the gent was attentive, polite, and offered us fresh plates for our pizza after we ate the salad (we kept our plates, we're not that fussy). But the girl who was serving coulda smiled a bit more ;)

Fornino is a gem nestled in the midst of troves of shitty Williamsburg pizza joints. Their pizza is a bit pricier than the rest, but at least it's QUALITY pizza. You can't buy a slice of Fornino when you're drunk, but if you want to go out and get a delicious pie, this is the place to go. I recommend the Marghertia Extra pie, with cherry tomato. So good.

The best pizza I've had. I was brought here on my first visit to New York City and now that I live here I go back regularly. The marinara has so much garlic on it that it makes my mouth tingle, and the margherita is also quite good. I've also enjoyed their appetizers like their mozzarella salad and the Caesar salad had massive clumps of parmesan on it.. When friends from out of town visit, this is where I will take them.

Never seen the inside of this place and don't care to. But the pizza out of the box, complete with tasty black char marks from the oven, fresh muzz, and plenty of flavor is the best thing I've eaten in front of the TV all week. Margherita Classica-is there any need to fool around with that? Oooh, if you like cheese, just order extra cheese. That is the one annoying thing-they are stingy with the cheese. It wasn't the best pizza I EVER HAD but it seriously put other pizza places in the neighborhood to shame and I just can't go back to that second rate food. If I wanted to eat some chewy crap, I'd stay in and cook. Fornino...put 'em on speed dial.

YESSS! New York pizza at its best. And priced very well...my friend and I ordered a large pizza and still had 3 slices leftover for $20. To me, that is definitely affordable for a pretty nice sit down restaurant. Huge selection of pizzas ranging from everything under the sun. We opted for the prosciutto with mushrooms and a speciality cheese. Trust me, it took a long time for us to decide what ONE pizza we wanted because there were 5 of our top picks to choose from. Nice thin crust with a slightly burnt edge...it was seriously some of the best pizza I've had in NY. Our waitresses were also extremely friendly and helpful. Nice decor in here as well...can definitely be a date spot.

This is a wonderful spot on Bedford conveniently located near the L stop. Their bianca pizza is a surefire bet--mozzarella, ricotta, and caramelized onions with olive oil, fresh arugula, and parmesan sprinkled on top. It's such a flavorful, slightly sweet option. The arugula and pear salad with gorgonzola is refreshing, but not as wonderful as the bianca pizza. Their greenhouse out back encourages the ordering of fresh, herby dishes. Looking forward to trying many more pies at Fornino!

Last night's Margarita pizza at Fornino's for takeout was delicious. I wanted to raid the box before I got home--I could smell the creamy cheese on the car ride home. Last night's pie was better than usual-it was perfectly cooked (usually it's burnt) and the ingredients slid off like they do at motorinos. I ate half the pie--usually I have a just a piece.

Truly great pizza--probably better than Grimaldi's in Dumbo and a bit better than Franny's on Flatbush. The salads, on the other hand, are just average, but I gather that's quite beside the point. The service and room are functional, and the back patio is not unpleasant.

I would give this place about 3.5 if I can. The pizza is good and definitely better than the stuff in most of Manhattan but I had better in lots of other places. I've had the Gorgonzola with caramelized onions (too salty), some kind of mushroom pizza (not enough flavor), and one with prosciutto (about 2nd from the bottom of the menu, this one I liked the most). Now that I've read the reviews, I think I should've had the classic stuff to better judge the pizza. Anyways, what won me over was the dessert. A chocolate hazelnut gelato made from organic ingredients - the first bite was heart tingling. According to the waitstaff, it arrived two days before I tried it. pistachio was pretty good. the plain milk one I wouldn't recommend unless you seriously love vanilla. Beware though, the gelatos are pretty rich so I recommend sharing.

Fornino's makes just the kind of pizza I love! Very thin crust, with a bit of chewiness, and super fresh toppings. We had the margherita classica and the bianca (a white pizza with arugula, ricotta and red onion) in their back garden, with a couple of glasses of white sangria. Why don't more people put arugula on pizza? It's the best. We were very sad when Cronkite's closed on Norfolk Street in the LES, but this place has the same owners and was worth the trip to the foreign land of Williamsburg.

This is def the best pizza I've had in nyc. I had the classic margherita and it was so flavorful. Better than lombardi's actually. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the other pizza my friend and I had along with it. It was some eggplant vegetable mix but there was this nasty bitter broccoli on there that was just SO gross. Once we picked it off it was good but for that I give it 4 stars.

  • A B.

Came back, and although still worthy of the 4 stars, learned a few lessons... 1) finish the pizza while you're there. don't take any to go. time does not serve these pies well. the crust gets very...not right. eat it there, leave extra full if necessary. 2) the house red sangria is far superior to the house white. 3) finally tried a pizza with substantial toppings...the one with arugula and prosciutto...quite good. ingredients all very very fresh. still a place worth your time.

A solid margherita pie and attentive servers always lead to a good combination. Option of having fresh garlic and fresh oregano as toppings is a plus.

I came here since my friend absolutely loves their spinach pizza drizzled in their truffle oil. She raved about it to me over and over again and I thought perhaps it is worth the trip to Brooklyn. I ended up getting the margherita D.O.C. since I wanted to compare to Luzzo's pizza (it has buffalo mozerrella cheese). I would have to disagree with my friend-I still love Luzzo's Pizza way better. Totally not worth the trip there!

Ok it's expensive but it's good. really good. so good that I repeatedly attempt to convince them to deliver to me even though i'm out of their (very small) delivery zone. I usually just say "but you've delivered to me soooo many times before!!!" It only worked once. Sadly I only get this when I take out, which is too rare these days because I'm a fat lazy slob who hasn't seen the light of day in months. Oh well.

Ate here about nine months ago and can't get it out of my head. Crisp crust, not too charred. Mozzarella to die for. Decor not a big deal. Eat in the front room : even though the garden sounds like a good idea, the cheesey mural turned me off. Personal favorite: Funghi Misti (drizzled with truffle oil)

We were attracted to Fornino in Williamsburg, Brooklyn by the giant sign claiming that they had the best pizza in New York in 2006. Although we didn't find it to be quite that, we did have an amazing meal. The pizza is fresh, delicious, and healthy. They go low on the cheese and make use of the marinara to establish their credibility. We got the Margerita DOC which came with real buffalo mozzerella. It was wonderful. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is cozy, and the service is quick. All great ingredients for a pizza establishment.

I heard about Fornino through a friend while visiting NYC. I tried the Calabrese. It was an exceptional pie. However, I would not consider it the best in New York as others have claimed.

Update--- I've been back a few times since then and sat in the main room, and the Funghi Misti pizza is basically transporting. ------------------------------- I'll have to go back here, because I feel like the so-so pizza, awful seating in the back room, and "oh... you're here?" service was atypical. Don't sit in the back room. Wait. Considering that it'll take ten extra minutes to find your server any time you want water/a napkin/to order, you aren't losing time. Good mozzarella, though.

ah, yes, Fornino!!! I can barely put two words together about this place because I was so bowled over by the experience of savoring every bit of the classic Margherita (all I remember is hot cheese and sauce melding together and sliding down my throat and that's, I think, when everything went black.) Fornino also happened to take first prize in my birthday pizza extravaganza when several friends and I trapsed throughout Williamsburg, sampling as much pizza as possible. Amazingly, it even outranked my reigning favorite Anna Maria's. Hmmm, cannot wait to go back and try the quattro formaggi.

It felt like school had just come out as I squeezed through the crowds of kids on Bedford trying to reach Fornino...more a sign of my maturing age than anything else. Still, you can appreciate a good pizza at any age and Fornino will provide....

FORNINO IS AMAZING. I'm all about this artisan pizza trend (and so is Frank Bruni as of today, apparently) and have tried a ton of the poppin' places, and I gotta hand it to Fornino as my favorite (well..after Totonno's but I'm not sure if that fits into the 'artisan' genre...it's more traditional). The crust is crisp--not soggy, sauce is super fresh and tangy, parmesan is sharp, muzz is creamy and stretchy and mmmmm...It's really one of the perfect pizzas in New York. The salad with white balsamic dressing is amazing and the outside garden is pleasant. The staff is totally bitchy (like...I've been going here since 2006 and though the staff has changed, the attitude has not) but it's Williamsburg, what do you expect? Writing this makes me want to go there right now. Recap for L Trainers craving pizza: Fornino pwns Motorino pwns Roberta's

i thought i was over pizza. and until i had fornino pizza, i was. granted, i've only tried the margherita, but man. this is pizza perfection. it actually almost gives one the sense that they are eating something healthy-the ingredients are so fresh, the sauce is tangy and the flavor just pops. luckily, i live a good 45 minutes on the b61 bus away from fornino. otherwise, i'd have a new addiction to add to my ever-growing list.

I would probably have given this place 3 stars, but the waitress I had here was just about the nastiest I've encountered. I know Williamsburg is notorious for good food served by waitstaff with an attitude. But this woman takes the cake, enough for me to devote the essence of my review to her. My friend arrived first and ordered a glass of wine. I came in and asked the red headed waitress with a pixie cut what kind of beer they had, since they didn't give me a menu. She immediately asked me for id, then proceeded to stare at my id then back and me then back at my id. It looks exactly like me, and it was 10:30 at night on a weeknight. Then she asked my friend for her id - granted my friend had already been sipping on her wine for 10 minutes at that point. Why would you ask someone for id after you serve them? If you didn't do it before, then that's your fault. Then she leaves and doesn't tell the me beers or bring me a menu. After a while of trying to get her attention she drags herself back over to our table only to mumble the beer list through her foreign accent into the blasting Bjork music. I asked her to repeat it. Same thing. Couldn't hear a word she said. I asked her to repeat it again, I understand that might be annoying but I wanted a beer and it's her job, and it's really not the end of the world. She proceeds to roll her eyes and sigh then repeats the beers again. Finally I heard her, and I ordered. Now I didn't have to deal with her again right? Wrong. Her hipster boyfriend then rolls into the restaurant and they proceed to make-out, laugh, drink, and more in plain view of us. I'm eating. She's working. If I did that at work when I was a waitress, I would have been fired in a hearbeat. Fornino's pizza is too yummy to be represented by someone as thoughtless as she is. But for the best pizza in the city, I would head over to Posto in Manhattan any day. They would never stand for such lousy service, and their pizza is incredible.

Totally delicious pizza, and I have high pizza standards. Delicious pizza is not supposed to be greasy. You should be able to taste every ingredient, and here you can. The citysearch review ( newyork.citysearch.com/p… ) says that he uses herbs from his garden out back and buys locally grown produce. Not positive about the truth of that, but based on taste, I'd believe it! The only negative thing I have to say is that we tried two of the white wines on the menu, and one was seriously disgusting. We sent it back and got another that was very sweet but at least drinkable. Another review mentions their excellent sangria, which I will try next time I go.

I've walked past Fornino countless times, but it took some pizza-loving friends being in town to finally get me to give it a shot. The prices are fantastic, the staff is fantastic and the back garden is quaint and heated for those colder nights. Unfortunately the crust of my pizza was completely burnt. I ended up getting their four cheese pizza which I didn't realize would end up being a white pizza (sans sauce). I don't know what cheese they used, but one of them was completely overbearing and salty. Every bite tasted like burnt bread washed down with ocean water. Gross!

I can't say enough about FORNINO. Being a pizza lover and a foodie, and having a wife who uses pizza to fill void others can only fill with heroin, you could say that I am always on the hunt for great pizza. I moved to NYC in the fall of 2007 (Williamsburg), but a particulary rough block. I was impressed by the sheer number of restaurants and bars in the area but as the years added on as I explored the area I have not found a destination, ...maybe Elote, that comes near the quality of FORNINO. First of all, Williamsburg gets an "A" in atmosphere across the board in its eateries but a "C" overall in quality in my opinion. Fornino nails it on both accounts. Their thin crust perfectly prepeared pies don't disappoint. Our standard order when we go is 2 larges (always have some to take home) one Margharita and on "Al Roker". Another word I should use to describe their food is consistent, which by the way is one of the most important attributes to possess when relying on repeat business. The quality, taste and appearance is the same every time I visited which made it my go-to-spot when friends and family visited from out of town. They serve beer and wine for reasonable prices and have an outside area that is quite nice as it features a large herb garden whose yield ends up on your pizza

fornino is the perfect spot for an easy breezy pizza and a root beer. the wait staff is laid back and nice and makes substitutions for us. they are open during that in between lunch and dinner time which is nice. all of the pizzas i have tried here are delicious. we like the 4 stagioni best and we get it with sausage sometimes instead of prosciutto. all of the ingredients are fresh and local and organic and all that good stuff. they also do delivery, but i think theirs zones are a bit small.

Sigh. Fornino, I really wanted to be dedicated to you. Many a times I have passed by you, saw the yelp sticker in your window, wondered what exactly is the science of pizza? But alas, last night, while dining with my employers-- the delivery boy shows up 10 minutes after the order was placed---not the 45 minutes we were told. Normally, this would be good if you are a starving maniac pizza lover like myself. But before I even dug into my margarita slice, I was warned that it seemed a bit more undercooked and rushed then usual. It was soggy kind of...but still kind of dry... I mean, It was good, ya know, yummy I guess. But seriously, where's the cheese? I love cheese (I will spare you on my dedication). So... this pizza served to be inadequate. Also, I tried a slice cold today (you like cold pizza too, right?) and it was still blah. Boo-hoo.

Fornino is pretty good. I eat there when it's convenient because it's a couple blocks from my office. But the pizza is not amazing, and is certainly not moan-inducing. It's good and dependable, but I don't crave it. It's no Kesté or Co. or Motorino. The service is good and it's a cute atmosphere, I definitely appreciate the garden in back. I've had their Margherita pie and the Bianca pie, which are both tasty, but once again Fornino just doesn't wow me.

Although I haven't had a chance to try too many pizza places in the north Williamsburg area, I honestly don't think I even need to. From the two times I've ordered from Fornino's, I think it is safe to say that they make some top-quality pizza. The crust is nice and thin - crispy, but still a nice doughy texture that practically melts in your mouth along with their good selection of toppings. The Sagione is delicious! My bf thought the prosciutto was a bit salty, but I thought it was a complementary balance to the bread and cheese. I also tried the Pugliese and really liked it. I think the highlights of Fornino are (1) their cheese and (2) amazing crust. Some pizzas get soggy by the time they're delivered to you, but both pies were piping hot, but had that nice crisp crunch of a nicely toasted crust upon delivery. I really hate when there's too much cheese on a pizza and everything starts falling off, but they do a good job of putting on enough cheese for you to feel indulgent, but not so much that it overpowers the rest of the toppings. The meatball appetizer was pretty yummy too - good combination of spices and enough sauce to dip the focaccia bread. I will definitely be ordering from here again!

Upon entering this pizzeria you instantly get a whiff of the sweet smell of the wood fired pizza oven. Def ask to see if there is space in their garden area all the way in the back! we ordered the antipasti tasting platter, Pugliese and The Al Roker which was the best out of the two pies. All the ingredients were super fresh and the pizza had a respectable char and smoky flavor. Got me a few Perinos and I was good to go.

  • Adriano R.

No doubt, they use really great ingredients. Had the antipasto tasting platter- an assortment of stuff that was all really good and definitely fresh. I got the margherita doc w/ the buffalo mozz- again great quality ingredients but my pizza was undercooked. Girlfriend got the trevisana and it was super good. If you are over the age of about 30, you will feel out of place here for sure (along with everywhere else on Bedford Ave)

The pizza was pretty good; not as excellent as I had hoped. The waitress was snobby and not attentive. Garden seating was cute and it was nice to see that they grow their own herbs. Not a place I would go back to unless everything else was closed. I felt it was not memorable.

Notice how all the reviews here read? Like some people thought it was amazing and others felt cheated? Here's how you eat at Fornino: when you're with two friends and in the mood for a light, fresh pizza lunch, go there and split a large pizza. That way, you'll feel like you really made out at under ten bucks a piece and you won't mind the lousy, slow service. Here's how you don't eat at Fornino: when you're with one or three friends, hungry, or want to drink, go there and order one pizza for every two people and drinks. If you do this, you will feel cheated by the $20 / person with lousy, slow service, even if the pizza did taste pretty good. Seriously--don't break these rules, or I suspect you'll hate this place. Because even though the pizza IS unusually good, it's not THAT good, and the cost adds up quickly enough that you'll really wind up unhappy. But if you follow the rules, you'll wind up very pleased.

Fornino definitely has some of the best pizza I've had in New York. I guess if you're looking for something plain and boring like Papa John's it might not be up your alley, but if you want good pizza and something a bit different, Fornino's the place to go. I'm not a salad person (not even in the slightest...) and I loved the frisse and dried fruit salad. We got the Lombardi pizza which was prosciutto and arugula, and it was fantastic! A gourmet-ish meal for a decent price... The atmosphere is cozy and the wait staff was friendly, both always bonuses. I'll be frequenting this place for my pizza cravings!

*EH*. Did you see the shrug that came along with that? The $15 antipasti was big... and pretty good. The $20 large pizza with sausage was... err... ok. The crust was pretty good, crisp and light. The sauce, however, left something wanting... Like flavor.

Good pizza. Kind of pricey, but definitely good. I love the little patio area; it's really cute. Nice atmosphere back there and good music. I don't know that I'd call it the best pizza in Williamsburg, but it's good. The crust is especially amazing. I prefer Driggs as it's considerably cheaper because you can get just a slice there.

Seriously good pizza, and the basic Margherita is as good as the more creative pies. Service was good, the waitresses and owner make it a good time. Great Montrepeluciano house red. Tiramisu was meh - I had them make me a custom fig gorgonzola prosciutto pizza for dessert.

really delicious pizza we found on a rainy friday night. my roommate and i just moved to brooklyn and had a pack of friends over. finally around 1030 we realized we hadn't eaten dinner yet so we piled into a car and trecked over to bedford ave to find some nourishment. this was perfect four our group. fantastic pizza combos on thin and crispy crusts. i don't remember what we each got - there were lots of cheeses, veggies and sausages all around - but everyone stopped talking and focused on cleaning their plates as soon as the food arrived. i will definitely come back here again.

I had a couple of their slices last night at the Elite event at gutter. I must agree their pizza certainly has fresher ingredients than the typical New York slice. It was pretty tastier but a little more soggy then I like pizza. I think it is because this slice carries a massive amout of cheese. Overall a pretty good slice, I will be back.

good wine list , good versatility in different styles of pie . definitely one of the best I have ever had In NYC , Good People , Friendly service HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this is also the only place I have been that gives you a choice of the different traditional Italian styles That the different regions of Italy has to offer

I often crave this pizza and have made the trek (via 2 trains!) to Williamsburg just to have it on multiple occasions. They have a dimly lit and cozy atmosphere (almost romantic), and the pizza . . . oh man. Words don't do it justice. The crust is paper thin, the toppings are delicious, and the pizza has just the right amount of fresh mozzarella (unlike the many many places that put way too much because they think everyone wants 30lbs of cheese on their pizza). I really don't know what else to say - you'll have to go try it yourself.

Right up there with Motornio. I'd say Motornio is better but not by much. We'll definitely go back. Too bad its on my least favorite strip of Wburg otherwise we'd be regulars.

  • Olivia P.

I think this place is overrated. Their pizza lacks really good sauce and just subpar for a thin crust brick oven pizza. I will say they do have a large selection of speciality pizzas but I've had better. Given that this is the only place like this in the area I still go here.

  • daniel f.

The pizza at Fornino is phenomenal. Some of the other menu items are pretty good. I either eat here or pick up some pizza on the order of once every 3-4 weeks. For the last four years. Pizza is a very subjective experience, so i can't tell you that this is the best pizza in New York. I can only tell you that this is my favorite pizza on the planet. Lucali's in Cobble Hill, and Pizzeria Vecchio Forno in Tropea would also be near the top of that list.

    (5)
  • Paul K.

Nothing new to add here - it might not be the best but it is very very very good and I think their own herb garden more than makes up for the lack of coal oven - my friend and I both enjoyed our different pizzas (mine was the pepperoni) - it is more gourmet than Lombardi's and Grimaldis, and plenty of seating.

    (5)
  • Marge D.

I really love the pizza here. It's fresh, the dough is just right, the sauce isn't too acidic, and the cheese is yummy! The pepperoni is the only one I've tried, and that's the one I keep ordering. It is significantly better than Grimaldi's. The service can be a bit slow.

  • Tree S.

We tried it based on the magazine covers in the window (not always a good idea), and we weren't let down. The pizza was good, the atmosphere cozy, and the sangria delicious. In fact, my friend said it was the best she'd ever had. Not bad for a spur-of-the-moment decision.

    (4)
  • Elana R.

Their pizza is almost always a great experience, but every now and then they send a pizza with a strange aftertaste, that's why I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars. I will still keep ordering from them frequently. I would say they normally are in my "top 2" picks for pizza in the NY area.

  • Daryll H.

We really wanted pizza. Fornino looked cool. Specialty pizza, nice. Really tasty food, totally unique. Wait.. Now we're done eating, and we're still hungry for pizza. Hmm... As it turns out, when you have a pizza craving, you should actually go to a traditional "pizza place" and get some massive pile of grease and cheese. Fornino almost tasted healthy. That's not what I had in mind! I will definitely go here again when I'm in the mood for something different or tasty, but not when I have a pizza craving. I made this mistake in DC a few years ago. Ordered some $25 gourmet pie, and ended up ordering Dominos when I got home. Should've learned my lesson then.

  • Daniel G.

I'm a fan of Fornino's. The pizza is on my top 5 list all city. I order the Calabrese as a go to pie. Only complaint is the consistently rude and righteous guy who takes my delivery order. Maybe he's the owner, but he definitely doesn't make me feel like he appreciates the business. Probably doesn't matter....... I still keep ordering from them.

    (4)
  • Massimo G.

I admit, i come from Napoli, so i am not a real fan of Crispy pizza, but here i found a pretty good one, the crust is light and the ingredients are very good! Bravo! I give only 3 star cause i don't like the style, but it is good.. Also decent variety of appetizers (but the eggplant caponata is cold... and not sogood, too greasy..)

  • Baris G.

If a pizza place could impregnate an aging hipster, I would surely would like to have Fornino's baby. Mind you, that's no small compliment, but how else would I praise the Fungi Misty pizza of this place? How else would I praise its chocolate-hazelnut gelato? Its almost good service? It's sort of breezy terrace-deck at the back? This is by far the best pizza producing place within affordable range (middle class affordable) and distance. One of the reasons why you should visit W'burg, and another reason why you should break your neck to stay closer to Bedford Ave station.

Went here while visiting NYC a little while back. Phenomenal neapolitan style pizza. Killer crust. Light, sweet/tangy sauce. Very very good. Will definitely go back if ever in Williamsburg again.

Fornino is a specialty pizzeria on Bedford Ave, smack dab in the middle of hipsterdom. They distinguish themselves from their many pizza competitors with their high quality ingredients; many of the herbs on the pizzas are grown in the garden space behind the restaurant. The prices are a bit high for pizza, but with a multitude of delicious combinations, it's hard to leave disappointed from a dinner at Fornino.

I'm beginning to think that I am very easy to please when it comes to pizza. Must be fresh, must be pizza. Yep, those 2 rules pretty much sum it up. Fornino opened a couple of years ago and it is pretty solid in terms of a New York pizza joint and we're lucky to have it only 5 minutes away. We've eaten in and gotten delivery. You can even order online from delivery.com . I will admit we haven't gotten too creative when it comes to toppings but the Margarita Classica is a sure bet.

Looove forninos- the spinach pizza is to die for. Decent priced, the service has always been fine for me and the food is usually awesome. However, they recently changed wine distributors and I'm not thrilled with the new selections- the wines are kinda sucky and are more expensive. The garden is nice during the summer as well.

The spinach pie is the best pizza in the world. It's addictive so beware, if you won't be able to access it at least every two months don't torture yourself by ever letting it cross your jaws. I like the dried fruit salad to start.

Caveat: I am a brooklyn native and consider myself a slice guy. That said, in a neighborhood (North and South Williamsburg) with a dizzying number of mediocre slices (Vinny's - blah; Anna Maria - is that a slice under all that extra stuff?; Vinny Vella - ok, but all those pictures doesn't make it a more authentic slice), a pizza lover must turn to something more. Fornino's is damn good. I grew up on Grimaldi's for thin crust and, even if the tour bus of people didn't make it impossible to go there anymore, I put Fornino's right there with Grimaldi. In fact, for pure freshness and attention to quality ingredients you are not going to beat Fornino's. The sopresetta pizza is insane, but a basic Margerhita shows you how talented these guys are. Note of caution - if you're eating this at home, let them deliver it in those thermal bags - I've carried it home a bunch of times and it just doesn't taste as perfect. The delivery guy gridlock at the door, the overall mediocre waiter service and the somewhat rookie front-of-store management (I saw one of the delivery guys eating a "subway" sandwhich at the front table during the peak of dinner) prevent me from dolling out the 5th star. Otherwise, Great spot.

Niiice!)

So good.

  • Bret G.

  • susan o.

I think this place is overrated. Their pizza lacks really good sauce and just subpar for a thin crust brick oven pizza. I will say they do have a large selection of speciality pizzas but I've had better. Given that this is the only place like this in the area I still go here.

I really love the pizza here. It's fresh, the dough is just right, the sauce isn't too acidic, and the cheese is yummy! The pepperoni is the only one I've tried, and that's the one I keep ordering. It is significantly better than Grimaldi's. The service can be a bit slow.

We tried it based on the magazine covers in the window (not always a good idea), and we weren't let down. The pizza was good, the atmosphere cozy, and the sangria delicious. In fact, my friend said it was the best she'd ever had. Not bad for a spur-of-the-moment decision.

Their pizza is almost always a great experience, but every now and then they send a pizza with a strange aftertaste, that's why I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars. I will still keep ordering from them frequently. I would say they normally are in my "top 2" picks for pizza in the NY area.
