I used to eat here several years ago. My favorites were the Chicken Marco Polo and their Chicken Cordon Bleu, very tasty all with fresh ingredients. The service is good. The dinners are a bit on the pricy side for this area. They have a well stocked bar and a fairly decent view.

Probably the best "fine dining" that there is in the area, but I can't say that I'm super impressed, nor do I feel like it was worth the price. It's priced like fine-dining in a city, and while the decor definitely matches that price point, it's just not the same thing. When I'm 4 hours away from any major city, I don't expect to be paying the same prices I would in Boston or New York. Pricing aside, the food was fine, but definitely not amazing, especially for $25-30 per entree. I had a pesto that while perfectly adequate, had some weird flavors in it. My boyfriend had a chicken parmesan that he was very pleased with, but I question whether that warranted the price. The best thing I think we had was the spinach artichoke dip appetizer. I found it delicious...there's a little hint of lemon in it which I found to be really pleasant and surprising. The obvious perk with this restaurant is the location next to the river. The view is beautiful and their outdoor patio really allows you to enjoy it when the weather is nice. If I was in the area and needed to find some fine dining, sure I could imagine ending up back here, simply due to the lack of options. But I would definitely not go out of my way.

As far as 'fine-dining,' goes in Ogdensburg, this is the best place. My family have been patrons of the Gran View for years and years. It has a mix of your typical Italian-American and French-American fanfare. I typically get the chicken cordon bleu w/ garlic mash. Love that currant sauce that they put over it! I've tried to re-create it myself but can't seem to get it. The Gran-View house salad is legendary in town and even though it is no longer included with entrees, I would still recommend the 2 or 3 dollar up charge to get it. It's a fun place to go with your significant other or maybe your girlfriends and sit at the bar, order a glass of wine and some apps. Nothing that I have ordered here has been necessarily bad. The service is always outstanding, and given it's name, the view holds true reflecting the gorgeous St-Lawrence.

Way overpriced.. Tries to confuse diner with specials and ala carte .. Food has went way down in quality and preparation through the years..seems to better suited to weddings then the casual diner..one plus is the location on the river. Inside has been updated and nice..

Firstly, I agree with Shana P that the food here is a bit pricey for what you get. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the meal, but I was really surprised when I got inside that this place was as done up as it was. Partly because (and in response to Aaron D's confusion) the restaurant is sort of attached to the Quality Inn next door: the Continental breakfast for the hotel is in the restaurant, so I thought that the restaurant would be more casual than it was. I was staying at the hotel the night before taking the GRE at St. Lawrence, and I showed up looking like The Night of the Living Dead with a two-mile high stack of flashcards. I was certainly underdressed and got some sideways glances from other patrons, as none of them felt that it was the sort of place you bring your homework. (The staff had no problem with my attire or activities.) Regardless, the meal and the pint I had were quite good, if over-priced for pasta and a local brew. The waiter was friendly and attentive. It was a good meal, I just got the impression that the place was a bit affected. I've been to places before that pass as "gourmet" only because they're in a rural area or a small town, not because their food is overly impressive, and I suspect that this place is one of them. Again, this doesn't mean that it was a good meal, just overpriced and overdressed.

Good for area- it is right on the river so a nice view- not crowded..lots of space outside...great restaurant next door for dinner. Our room was cozy and clean. Yes our cell phones were connected to Canada so we used the house phone to make local calls- could not text or call as it was a Canadian tower so will address that with our carrier- but we had free wi-fi - that was fast and good. The free breakfast was fair...lucky I like yogurt & fresh fruit- the coffee stunk....very weak and not gourmet! BUT I will be back - they have a big deep pool so I want to be there in the summer for a dip! Lovely area...

The best and only fine dining in Ogdensberg NY. It really was delicious.

Great food. More fancy than other places in the area but still casual enough to bring the family.

This place has an amazing buffet on the weekend. Super super tasty. Sliced Prime Rib, seafood, good chowder. For the North Country its a little pricey, but its well worth it. Not sure why Yelp wants us to treat Gran View and Quality inn as the same entity -but Gran view is great anyway.
