I went here years ago with family and it was out of this world! I recently checked their menu and saw that they still have the same chicken dish I had long ago. Can not wait to go back! AWESOME!

Everything is phenomenal. I've been to The Bellport for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The fried chicken is an excellent dish if you do not feel like venturing into some of the unique dishes, My faves are steak and eggs for break fast; green onion smothered steak sandwich for lunch; corn battered oyster salad, cream of leak and cauliflower soup, and pecorino crusted sword fish for dinner.

The Bellport Restaurant has become an important part in my life. My wife and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner there and we've been to a number of other family events there. We visit every week or two for dinner (love their soups!) or Sunday brunch.

The food here was beautifully prepared...As I like to say, "made with love." You can tell the chef really takes pride in what they do..each entree was inspired. The sausage and fresh pasta was amazing. The clams and linguini was simple yet delicious... tasted like the sea. Service was lovely. The ambience was lovely. Truly a wonderful little spot. The only part we didn't love was the desserts, they looked amazing but I found them to lack the sugar I'm looking for in that "delectable dessert." We tried the peanut butter pie (which I felt could have been sweeter), the creme brûlée (flavor-wise was tasty but could have been a little thicker) and pecan pie which was pretty good, again could have been a little sweeter. All of the desserts looked house-made and made with love. I'm a very tough critic on desserts because I'm a pastry chef. :) Overall this place was wonderful and we will definitely be back. I'm still thinking about the chicken tikka that we didn't try. I'm wishing I had. Can't wait to come again. Thank you for a beautiful evening!

Love the atmosphere. Friendly local people. You haven't had fried chicken like the bellport's buttermilk fried chicken. The potatoes were creamy and the mushroom sauce was a perfect match. Monday nights they have a recession special menu.

The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the fact that Anne Hathaway was sitting right near the doorway. Yes. Anne Hathaway. (Apparently she lives in Bellport for the summer and dines here quite often). Anyway, moving onto the actual restaurant. Ambience is super friendly and cheerful. There's this lovely atmosphere with quirky artwork and a beach-home vibe. There's a bar area right near the entrance and quieter seating areas surrounding it. Service was so nice, and when I talk about service, I don't really mean the waitresses (they were alright, a bit slow for my preferences), but the owners of the restaurant. We talked quite a bit with the lady who owns the establishment and she is such a charming person. So caring and adorable! She really made us feel at home during our dining experience here. As for the food - it was good. I'd consider it comfort food style, with a fancier twist. The presentation of all the dishes was on point. Everything looked like a masterpiece. The quality of the food itself was decent. Bread - sourdough and olive with butter. Sourdough was delicious and olive was nice and savory. Both were fresh. The butter was hard, but it tasted pretty good. Fried oysters in corn sauce - wow. I love oysters but I had never tried them fried until now. Delicious. And the sauce was fantastic. Smooth, creamy, and with a hint of sweetness from the corn. It was a lovely contrast to the crispy-on-the-outside oysters. Swordfish with mixed vegetables and plantains - swordfish is a tricky fish to perfect, and the one I had here was a bit too well-done for my tastes. The flavoring of the sauce was great though. It had a nice tomato base and was the perfect amount of tangy. The plantains were my favorite. Cooked to perfection and flavored quite nicely. I could have eaten like ten of those. Veggies were also a delight - the olives were a bit too salty for me. Buttermilk fried chicken - A bit dry for my tastes and a little lacking in flavor. The gravy was amazing though. Highly recommend dipping the chicken into the gravy; it makes for a lovely combo. White chocolate creme brûlée - lovely crystallized sugar top. The creme underneath was a bit too cloy for me, although it was textured so amazingly (smooth, fluffy, rich - all at the same time). Blueberry cobbler with homemade vanilla ice cream - SUCH A FANTASTIC DESSERT. The homemade ice cream was unforgettable. It was so smooth and creamy and so naturally flavored. Didn't taste artificially sweet at all. Imagine a scoop of that over this warm cobbler...oh my goodness it was fantastic. The crust was layered over the cobbler part, and separated the ice cream from the blueberry mix. I thought it was quite an ingenious way to present the dessert and it actually enhanced the dining experience (in terms of the logistics that go behind eating a cobbler). The crust was to die for. I'm such a crust person and it's what I use to evaluate if a pie is any good or not - this one succeeded. Overall, a great experience. I will remember this place because of the friendly atmosphere and the laid back vibe.

Delightful gem with a lovely vibe, eclectic menu. Fried chicken was excellent, as was the pecan pie.

We finally decided to try this place out and couldn't be happier. If the Sage Cafe in Blue Point is a college frat boy, The Bellport is what happens when that boy grows up, sees the world, gets some culture and makes good. It has the same eclectic vibe: non-matching tables and chairs, odd pieces of art (or, should I say, "objet d'art"?), paintings. But they all somehow work together and create very warm, cozy and friendly vibe. Upon entering through a small vestibule, you immediately enter the main dining area. A nice-looking bar stretches along one side. Re-purposed porches make additional dining areas on the eastern and western sides of the building. The hostess greeted us and sat us right away in the "west porch". She seemed very friendly and jocular which clashed with an earlier, negative review. The joint rapidly filled with what seemed to be a well-heeled, older crowd so we were happy that we had made reservations. The menu is NOT handwritten though the daily specials are. I honestly don't understand the previous gripe concerning this. I might agree if it was as illegible as a doctor's handwriting and was scribbled on a used cocktail napkin but the presentation was honestly fine. I mean, it's a non-entity. I only felt like I needed to bring it up because I was expecting some travesty of penmanship based on the previous review. I can't believe I spent this much time writing about it. Let's move forward, shall we? We ordered the pâté to start. After being disappointed by the pâté at Le Soir (allegedly a bona fide french resto) I wasn't sure what to expect. But the Bellport really hit this one out of the park! Made fresh on premises (per their menu), the pâté was generously portioned and came on a bed of lightly dressed greens wi/ small wedges of cheese (unremarkable but tasty nonetheless), little, garlicky pickles and some really good dijon (though I would skip this as it masks the natural taste of the pâté too much). Crunchy, toasty bread rode shotgun. I could have eaten this all night. I could have sat there and ordered plate after plate of this stuff and earned the nickname Pâté Boy. But there were other delicious things to eat as well. For the main course, we both had the duck. The breast came perfectly cooked, moist & flavorful. I think we were accustomed to the l'Orange preparation so it wasn't what we were expecting but it was excellently done nonetheless. A crispy confit leg accompanied the breast. I enjoyed this immensely and had to restrain myself from grabbing it with my mitts and going to town like I was at a wing-eating contest. The only knock is that it was EXTREMELY salty. I could feel my blood pressure rise with each, delicious mouthful. But hey! That's what Avapro is for! For dessert, we had some sort of bread pudding. It was tasty but fell short when compared to the other courses. The only uncool thing is that it seems they charged a sharing fee for the dessert. I could be mistaken but the dessert was supposed to be $6 and the bill listed "2 Afters. $12". Since this resto is a bit on the pricey side, I can see how a sharing charge might be expected. But for dessert, it seems excessive, especially since the patrons (us) didn't really skimp on anything. But no matter. Lesson learned. I do have to say that the waitstaff BUSTS THEIR COLLECTIVE ASSES. The busboy was constantly running bread, refilling water and clearing tables. Our waitress was very pleasant, attentive and also running around at a pace that would make Speedy Gonzalez hopped up on amphetamines seem positively soporific! My wife wanted to hire her for her store. Thank them for their excellent service by leaving a comparable tip. Though I stated the restaurant is a bit on the pricey side, it's still not very bad at all and is a great value for the quality of food and the ambiance. Dinner for 2, including a bottle of wine and the sharing fee for dessert was about $130. This would be a nice place to commemorate an event, bring visiting relatives or go for date night. That being said, this is assuming your date is someone you are married to or have been with a while and are past the initial stages of wooing and courting. Though the ambiance is funky, fun and and cozy, the place is LOUD. This is no good if you're still trying to get to know the person across the table from you but is perfectly fine for when things no longer need to be said. In that case, the comfortable din can be a blessing. That and the pâté. Well done, Bellport. You'll see us again!

Beach Farmhouse Chic This exclusive cozy little restaurant was littered with locals on a Friday night. The decor was interesting. There are stuffed roosters chilling by the windows. I liked the linear candle setting by the window as well. The wait staff were dressed in cute bow ties, fresh white shirts, and blue jeans. The charismatic bubbly manager was affable and was quick to seat us even though we had no reservations. We sat in some steel antiquated looking chairs. It was a romantic steel table but the chairs were quite tight for my slim Asian tush. I couldn't imagine a heavier gentleman or woman in the metallic chair. The complimentary rustic bread was served with hard butter. The hard butter was difficult to spread on the bread, however, the taste of hard butter on the bread added to the country theme of the place. We started off with the corn crusted oysters. They were lightly battered and swimming in a sweet warm corn cream sauce. The fried oysters were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. My only complaint is that I wanted more of them. There were only six or eight oysters. Of course, I cleaned the remainder of the sweet and savory sauce with some bread. My girlfriend's linguini in clam sauce was executed nicely but not exquisite. I appreciated the freshness of the herbs, but it honestly was far from being a knockout. I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken breast filets served with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. Although, the chicken was decently moist and thinly breaded, I wasn't thoroughly impressed. The smooth buttery mashed potatoes were thoughtfully prepared. The dish reminded me of a glorified good old American meal at a U.S. Marine Corps chow hall. I wish I was more courageous and ordered something unfamiliar. i couldn't help but notice all of the deliciousness atop other patrons' tables. The best part of the meal was the dessert. The texture of the bread pudding was light and airy. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. It was a feel good/ guilt-free bread pudding. Yes, such a thing exists. We also had the warm cobbler which was decadent but not devilish like other variations of cobblers I have experienced. I really appreciate the freshness and lightness of the desserts here. The Bellport Restaurant is an upscale country-style restaurant you find near the south shore of long island. The portions are just right, and the desserts are refreshingly light. A really cute place for an romantic escape from the city. Its really a little slice of exclusive Americana off the way off the beaten path.

Eclectic American There is no really easy way to describe this place: hip, funky, hipster, gourmet and delicious all come to mind - I guess you have to take away your own impression but no matter what you call it, it is all good here. We were there for a semi-special occasion and started off with cocktails at the bar. Great little bar by the way- and a very good bartender took our orders and got us on the way. The decor is eclectic at best- no two tables seem to match and the entire place is funky-cool looking. To be honest, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but trust me - inside is a treat. Menus come in two varieties: standard and the specials. We opted for a variety from both menus. I went with the pate appetizer and it was very good. My girl had a salad as did her dad. For mains, I went with the bistro steak (so did my girl) and there was also a seafood etouffee special and a ravioli special. All were very good. Service was very good with plenty of water refills. Deserts were, for the most part, house made and we tried the flourless chocolate cake and some gelato. All in all a very good meal and we will definitely go back! Parking on the street.

Well. It was very, very, terribly 'cute.' We dined on the east porch, and it was interesting, a divided house pretending to be a houseboat, or something. The white walls and sconces gave the room a fine 'warmth' as the rain poured outside. The food was okay; there was seeming effort in the combinations, presentation was good. We shared mushroom soup, the mushrooms themselves were well cooked and meaty, and the broth was flavourful, if a bit sour. I didn't eat the mussels my partner ordered, but the way they came out was funny and unexpected. My salad was eh, so-so. Bagged salad. Oh! The frites were -goooooood-, lotta mushy wiggly ones. Served with tartar sauce: odd and appropriate. I would have liked catsup, but I wanted to avoid appearing gauche for asking. (The water had an odd taste, but I don't hold it against them. Every chi-chi place must put lemon slices in the carafe, and all water in Bellport tastes more like it's in Wellport.) I agree with the previous comments about the handwritten menu. I understand the intent, but, it falls flat. It's not homey, classy, elegant, personal, et c. It's nothing but a bother to muddle through. The service was acceptable, if slow. The acoustics, my God, the din!

One of my favorite resturants- They make their own chewy delicous bread- enough said. Ordered scallops, beet salad and daily special cobbler- scallops were morsels of goodness that melted in my mouth and cooked perfectly. The cobbler is always great- never too sweet and crusted well in a warm ramekin. Famous for their little neck clams and linguine but everything served is fresh and artfully fabulous. Ingredients are passionately selected with organic and free range regularly on the menu. Many years of refreshing food with attention to detail- Always a great pleasure!

This is place is as quaint as quaint can get! A must when your in Bellport! Menus are hand written and food has a very homemade taste. Locals at every table so if you need to keep the conversation on the QT ---talk at home.

While the restaurant itself is cute, the food is only so-so and somewhat overpriced. Also, the menus ate handwritten which, rather than being charming, just makes them extremely difficult to read.
