I came here with my mom and brother on a Thursday evening around 5 for my birthday... we were seated right away, no waiting! Which was pretty cool, I didn't expect that. The place looks small from the outside, but there is quite a lot of seating on the inside! The parking lot is a bit small, it was a treat to be able to park there, but fully plan on parking on the street, just in case. The restaurant IS on Main Street after all... The options are pretty extensive as far as the wine, mixed drink, and tap goes. Which is nice, because everyone was able to find something. We started with the Twice Baked Potato Boats - (aka Potato Skins) they were pretty good. Not too greasy and the mash inside the skins was delicious. They were pretty loaded too! Totally did not skimp on them. For my entree, I had the Chicken O' Casey... it was an egg battered, pan-seared chicken breast with provolone cheese, colcannon potatoes, and green beans. It was delicious... that is pretty much the only way to describe the whole meal. The chicken was moist, the potatoes were flavourful, and the beans... perfect! I honestly have no complaints. My brother had the Pork Tenderloin, which looked pretty good! They were a garlic and herb pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon with a tomato/bacon sauce. (That's how he described the sauce) That came with the colcannon potatoes and beans as well. He said he really enjoyed it. For some reason my Mom and Grandmother were the weirdos and got the Irish Cob Salads. I don't have much to say about those, but it seemed like they both enjoyed their salads. The service was pretty good... and the food was a bit on the high side, but nothing crazy. Wish our server would have come back to check on us more, but I didn't feel abandoned like I do at some places. Would definitely come back and recommend to others.

Awful experience. They have posted psychotic rules for what not to do on the patio. Don't even THINK about having more than 6 people in your party. Even if you are the only patrons there, they will literally yell at you if you ask to seat 7, etc. Started going there regularly with co-workers, and suddenly one day we had more than 6 people and person who I would guess is either the manager or the owner went berserk. I cannot believe how offensive, rude, and demeaning she was. We will NOT be eating there ever again. (funny that the patio sign says you can bring your pets though...)

First time checking out this Irish gem! Our waiter, Joshua T, was fabulous delightful and sarcastic, a refreshing personality for a lunch date mid work week. I enjoyed the Dublin Dip for my first exploration of the food and was wonderfully surprised by how delicious it was! The roast "beast" is wonderfully prepared, with just the right amount of dipping au jus on the side. Fresh cut fries on the side certainly did not take away from this meal! I will be planning a return trip in the future for sure!

It's been years since I last visited the Irishman, and I was definitely impressed last night! Their new outdoor patio (I have been obsessed with these this summer!), is beautiful-- it overlooks the creek and Island Park. Besides the new patio, as our hostess walked us out back, I noticed how much their dining area has expanded. On top of that, they added another bar on the back side of the original one (facing the patio), so my friends and I commented that this would be the perfect space for a happy hour! I had perused their menu earlier in the day, and the Teagan pizza had caught my eye, so I went with that-- (from their menu description) it had garlic oil, fresh spinach, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella cheese and tomatoes, and a balsamic glaze...OMG I could not stop eating it! All I could think is "I need more of THIS"! The Irishman should definitely consider expanding their pizza menu, because YES. The service was great during our dinner-- our waitress was personable, friendly and came back a number of times during our meal. I only held off on that last star, because my review was so specific, based on where I sat, and what I ate (I'd love to try some of their Irish fare next time). I will definitely be back!

I don't LOVE this place. It's okay for a work meeting or just to grab a soup or salad. The food isn't anything to write home about. Our waitress was very friendly but seemed agitated that we weren't ordering more food, which was kind of rude. But overall, yummy. I got the French onion soup and hot hard apple cider. Both were delicious. X's and O's! J

Very nice patio and the service was great, but don't expect to get a burger cooked to order. I'm willing to give this place another chance; I ended up ordering a standard tomato, lettuce, onion burger and told the waitress that I'm keen on ordering it rare since it usually never comes out medium rare. She placed my order in...and lo' and behold, the burger comes out well done! You would think they would place some extra attention when someone asks for a burger to be on the rarer side to make sure it doesn't leave the kitchen all charred up with no pink at all in it! Nonetheless, the outside patio is still one of the nicest ones in the Williamsville area, but for a $10 burger -- I certainly expected a bit better. I'll try again one day, maybe when they aren't so busy and hopefully update this review.

Ahhh yes, the irishman. I recently find myself warming up to the whole irish bar scene and here is yet another reason why! I came in after 9:00pm and enter to live music! I personally enjoy live music at bars and I loved the fact they carried it here as well! The layout here is decent, but I wish there was more room between the dining are and bar (other than a divider) for some reason I could see someone leaning on the bar side of the divider with a beverage and dropping their drink accidentally on the other side (my first thought) what can I say!?! What I wish they did have more of is a draft beer selection. Not many choices, and a few irish selections but I do love variety and by that I mean the craft beers and not the massed produced sorts! The food is very much the Irish variety and is good, however it's not the best I've tasted in the area but by no means is it the worst either! Shepards pies can be hit or miss at places.I'll probably give it another try and pick something else maybe guiness stew. Until the next time!

I frequent the Irishman a lot, and last week (7/14) came on my birthday. I was seated with a group of 11 in the back area at 6:30, and we only had one waitress. This struck me as odd, as when groups are that large a restaurant will often send out someone to assist the waitress. So, she was understandably overwhelmed by the large table, but was generally doing ok. Drink refills took awhile, but that is not so egregious a serving sin. I ordered the "Reu Burger," which is a burger that comes reuben-style (with corned beef, Swiss, saurkraut, a rose sauce, and on marble rye bread). I'm a sucker for anything marble rye, and wanted a burger, so it seemed a perfect option for me. Several other people at my table got regular cheeseburgers. When the waitress brought our dishes, I noticed that mine came on a normal bun. It's an understandable mistake, especially given that there were many burgers ordered at our table that come on normal buns. I'm not typically one to send back food, but as I stated above, one of the main reasons I got the Reu-Burger was because it came on marble rye. So I said to the server, verbatim, "I'm sorry, I think this burger was supposed to come on marble rye." She rudely said, simply, "No it's not." and stared at me blankly. Well that irritated me, so I said, "Really? Because I'm pretty sure that the menu said the REU-burger came on marble rye bread." I'll admit that my tone was not super polite. She again told me I was wrong, saying "No, the reuben sandwich does, but not the reu-burger." Again in a rude tone of voice. By now everyone at the table was watching this, so she said "Do you want marble rye?" I said yes, and she disappeared into the kitchen to bring me two (untoasted) slices of bread, which I then had the pleasure of schleping my own (large and full of toppings) burger onto. OK I understand that mistakes happen, but frankly...isn't the customer always right? ESPECIALLY when the customer is ACTUALLY RIGHT? Here is the description of the burger, right from the website. It is also printed this way on the menus. "The Reu Burger Burger cooked to your liking. Topped with, Swiss cheese corned beef, pickled cabbage, Marie Rose dressing and served on marble rye bread 13.95" I'm pretty conflict-avoidant, and again this was my birthday, and it was very embarrassing. I am not ashamed to admit that I looked up the menu on my phone right then and there to make sure that I was not the one making an error. I almost pulled the waitress over to show her, but decided that it would be too b*tchy. Now for the food: The burger was NOT medium, as I'd asked. It was cooked through and pretty tough. There was not enough sauce on it either, and the pickle that came with it was as limp as pre-viagra Bob Dole. The fries were very good, crispy and hot. In conclusion to the Irishman: Learn your menu, and don't tell customers that they're wrong when they're right. I'm probably not going to come back here. There are a ton of great restaurants in the Buffalo area, so it's no real loss to me.

I think the overall rating of 3.5 is probably pretty accurate. I hit up the Irishman on the recommendation of my hotel - it was that our the fairly dismal Glen Park down the block. I liked the Irishman much better. The interior is nice in a faux-Irish bar kind of way. There are plenty of tables if you want to eat and two large bars for libations. It's very clean too. Menu-wise, it's fairly straightforward pub fare with an "irish twist" (that means you add the word "Guinness" to the description). Because I was in Buffalo I knew I needed to try one of the area's specialties and I'm not a wing fan, so Beef on Weck it was. My server described their version as "decent" and it certainly was. The roast beef was actually really good - not fatty or gristly and plenty flavorful. I was less a fan of the super salty roll but I understand that's the correct way to serve it. Their fries are really good - hand cut and well seasoned. Because it's an "irish" bar I was both happy and surprised to see a decent wine list. My glass of Pinot Grigio was pretty decent and it was a VERY generous pour for $7.50. Two of those and I almost forgot about my hellish drive back from Toronto.

Amazing patio!! Great food! Try the chicken sandwich with the pretzel bun! Yum!! Also the pretzel sticks with cheese! Grab a table on the patio, they have two! Great drinks, food and atmosphere! I love this place so much!

The St Pat's parade is about to begin downtown which was a good opportunity to sneak in for lunch just before - once again - The Irishman filled to capacity. New on the menu this year is their Guinness Stew which is a basic Irish staple of meat, potatoes, onions and carrots in a beer broth, in this case Guinness. It was accompanied by a very buttery and tasty puff pastry. The broth had a rich full Guinness flavor but I chide myself at forgetting - each year - how very bland traditional Irish food really is. I compensated with an outstanding Bloody Mary with olives and horseradish. We also ordered a corned beef on rye which tasted great. It was served on marble rye with fries and a pickle wedge. I planned on taking half home but alas - it was too good. For dessert they had 2 house made items: a creme broulee with blackberries (thumbs down due to poor prep - the sugar glaze was 'chewy'.); and a chocolate peanut butter pie which was richly fantastic. Kudos to the chef for the peanut butter mousse which was light and full flavored. Portion size was enough for 2 people. All in all the best part of the experience was our server (Michelle) who, relatively nes to the Irishman staff, was a speedy, efficient top notch server. Nice job! Happy St. Patrick's day to you all!

My experience here was very, eh. Stopped in around noon on New Years Day in desperate need of a Bloody Mary, I mean, obviously. My friend and I figured since they were a bar they had to have them on the menu. Not only did they have them, they had a build your own Bloody Mary bar....What!? Music to my ears when our waitress said those words. We each got one. Let me back up a bit, the restaurant is really neat, you really feel like you are eating at a pub in Ireland when you are inside here. The drink menu was pretty basic, wines that everyone would recognize, nothing impressive, martinis and beer. Our waitress was very professional and kind. She brought over two pint glasses filled with vodka and ice and we headed over to the Bloody Mary bar. We had our choice of tomato juice or V8, which I thought was FAB. I felt absolutely no guilt starting 2015 off with this Bloody Mary. They had QUITE the selection of hot sauces, Franks, an array of different Cholulas (Chili-Lime, Chipotle, Hot, Chili Garlic) and a couple other hot sauces. They had so many spices! Old Bay Seasoning, Pepper, Salt, Cajun Seasoning, Lemon-Pepper Seasoning, it was a seasoning party in my drink. Olives, Beef Jerky, Pepperoncini, Pepperoni, Steak Sauce, Horseradish, Worcestershire, Pickles, Lemons and Limes, but NO celery. I just wanted it for the picture. There was no garbage set up anywhere near the table though so after squeezing lemons and limes we were on a hunt to get rid of them. We shook the drink ourselves, it was very fun. Had high hopes that the rest of our experience here would be great but it was mediocre at best from that point forward. I quickly scanned the menu before coming here to make sure they had some healthy options. I saw a section on the menu that said salads, with about eight listed so without reading each one, I figured I could find something that I liked. The salads all had really unhealthy ingredients in it, the only one that was SOMEWHAT healthy was the grilled vegetable salad with bleu cheese. Subbed out the bleu for goat, added some grilled chicken and it came with balsamic on the side. Adding grilled chicken was about $3, you could also add Shrimp or Steak for $6. The menu had traditional Irish dishes that sounded awesome: Reuben Pizza, Irish Onion Soup, Shepherd's Pie, Guinness Stew, Corn Beef and Cabbage, Fish and Chips and some sandwiches and wraps. They had a separate dinner menu only available after 4 pm. My friend started with the onion soup which she enjoyed, a bit sweeter than your typical Onion soup. She also went with the Blarney Nachos and thought they were awful. The waitress did inform us that the nachos were actually, "Irishman chips" we didn't know what those were but they looked like potato chips. Don't order this dish if you are expecting tortilla-esque chips. It was topped with rashers (which we were told is Irish bacon but in reality was chunks of ham), some sort of cheese sauce, creme fraiche, olives, banana peppers and salsa. They were massive, but maybe just not what she expected. The cheese sauce, although fully emphasized on the menu as, "cheese sauce" looked wildly unappetizing and turns out the taste was that way as well. My salad was OK until I got to the piece of grilled chicken that tasted like straight up Windex. I don't know if someone sprayed cleaner near my salad or what, but it tasted like glass cleaner and after that bite I had had enough. The vegetables were good, there could have been more on the plate and the balsamic dressing was THICK. Far too thick for my liking. Bill came to about $44 ish. I would come here to drink with friends probably but definitely won't hurry back for the food.

I came to the Irishman for the Mother's Day Brunch, with my family. The brunch was from 11:00 a.m until 3:00 p.m. Our reservation was at 1:00 p.m. The brunch buffet included all the typical brunch menu items. At the time we went up to the buffet, there were many empty food bins. The home fries bin had about four potatoes left. This was never replenished the entire time we were there. The syrup was empty at the waffle station and never refilled. I overhead another women ask the bartender to have the Ranch dressing refilled, for the cut up veggies. By 1:30 most of the food bins were completely empty and never filled again. I felt bad for anyone with a later reservation. Our waitress stated they would be putting out French toast and Canadian bacon, to replace the empty bins. It appears that they ran out of food and were serving anything they could make quickly in the kitchen. I'm always baffled when restaurants aren't prepared for the amount of people they have. For a Mother's Day brunch, most people make reservations. It amazes me that they could have run out, while knowing ahead how many people will be there. However, everything we were able to try was delicious. The made to order omelette station was the best. The omelettes were made perfectly with plenty of options to include. The bacon was flavorful and crispy, which was a pleasant surprise. It's hard to find a restaurant with crispy bacon, especially during a buffet. Our waitress was very attentive and personable. I gave this two stars based on this experience. I have enjoyed the Irishman's food and menu options before, when I came just for dinner. I don't think I would return again for brunch.

I've been to this place once before with a large party and only had a few beers then. Everyone seemed to love their food from that night, so we decided to give it a try tonight. We came here this evening for a few drinks and dinner. Two people in my party ordered salads, which were huge and they loved them. Another ordered the beef on weck - and said that it was a little dry and just okay. I had the Guinness battered - fish and chips and was not impressed. The piece of fish was just kind of soft and soggy and scaley - I've had way better. The spot is kind of cool - lots of cool irish beer signs - Killians, Harp, Guinness (of course) - kind of a cool, older feel and a little bit of an older crowd. The service was great. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. I don't know if I would go out of my way to come here again unless it was for a function/party.

The Irishman is a bright spot on Main Street in Williamsville. Their extensive tap, mixed drink, and wine options offer enough choices for the pickiest of drinkers. The lamb burger, Reuben pizza, and just about everything else on the menu is delicious and well-prepared. Their signature loaded "nachos" (in quotes because they use homemade kettle chips, not tortilla chips) are definitely worth a pass, though. The kettle chips grew soggy quickly and the toppings were haphazard and not complementary to one another. Opt for the wings if you're looking for an appetizer; they're solid, even given their competition in the Buffalo area. Service, both table and bar, is great. I haven't had a bad experience yet. When my boyfriend and a couple friends were dining there a few weeks ago, they informed us BEFORE ordering that the kitchen was experiencing a slight delay and that our food might take about 10 minutes longer to get to the table. This courtesy and consideration of our time was very appreciated. I wish that more restaurants were transparent with their kitchen delays. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of dining seating and a lengthy bar with lots of stools. Sometimes they have live music. I'm not always a fan of bands in bars, since they make it basically impossible to carry on conversation. There's enough space at the Irishman, however, that you can easily move to another portion of the bar if the band gets too loud. For the most part, the bands they pick are quality local groups. Overall, the majority of their menu is great, drinks are served with a smile, and it all happens in a bar-restaurant with enough room to move about freely, even on the busiest of nights.

The inside and the outside of the restaurant is super cute and cozy. Went twice during winter and sat in a table.near the window.looking at main street decorated for Christmas which was beautiful and next to a roaring fire. I mean how much beter does it get then that? The food is tradional. Had the wing there before they were not great probably BC they aren't their specialty. The flat bread app was pretty good. the only thing I ever get for dinner entree is their black and blue steak salad. Which is fantastic. Wine list and drink menu is great and reasonably priced. The ambiance keeps me going back over the food. Gets kinda crowded since its a smaller place and some tables are way to close

This was the first time I'm ever been here in all the years this place has been open. We were seated immediately on a Saturday night at 6:30. The host staff threw down the menus in a pile on our table and kind of had a bad attitude all night but, OK, whatever. :( Our server was great and attentive and the food was what we needed on a cold snowy night - no complaints at all and quite good. We got Shepherd's Pie, Caesar salad with steak, regular Caesar salad, fish and chips and beef on weck. The beef on weck had a side of plastic wrap in it. OK, strike 2. Really cool ambiance, I wouldn't mind going back but I'd rate the overall experience 'meh.'

My thought on this place when I first came here was amazing, somewhere to get some Traditional Irish Food. Somewhere to stop after you take a walk through Glen Falls park or take a look around in the Village. We were sat down and then we were wondering what to get, to start off me and Rick both got a bowl of Potato and Leek Soup (good sized portion, hearty potatoes and the Leeks melt in your mouth). Next we shared a plate of their Guinness Barbecue Wings (as it says in the description: a generous portion of Plump Juicy Chicken Wings, Portion was really generous (10 wings) Very plump and tender and you can really taste the Guinness and they were Big and with a pile of Homemade Fries, So Good). This is also a place where you can get an Irish Coffee (Next Time), For our Entrees, Grandma got the Beef on Weck (although she thought the Fries weren't Fresh), Rick got the Rueben, I got the Pork Tenderloin (which was Wrapped in Bacon, encrusted with Garlic and Herbs then roasted in the Oven, topped with a Tomato-Bacon Beurre Blanc with Colcannon Mashed Potatoes (which means they added Cabbage to the Mix) and Green Beans). The Pork was Juicy, Buerre Blanc adds some Richness, Greens Beans were Good and I liked that the Cabbage gave the Potatoes a little Texture. The one thing that caught my Eyes at another table was a Shepherd's Pie (It looked much more Appetizing than the Last Shepherd's Pie that I had. The Quality of the Food and the Service are both Outstanding and the People are Nice, I was happy. I'll be sure to grab an Irish Coffee or 2 Next Time.

The potato soup was fine.... The fish and chips had very little flavor. Not salted at all - over cooked. I didn't hate it but I will not come back to eat. The half price wine was a nice surprise and the bartender was good. I would come back to drink and maybe try the appetizers.

Stopped in to meet up with a few family members and friends this past weekend. My cousin had ordered a few appetizers for our large group to share. I did not try any of the apps, and instead ordered the almond berry salad, with berry vinaigrette dressing. I was expecting a flavorful, healthy salad, but what I got instead was a tasteless abomination. The "almond crusted" chicken appeared to be deep fried, and was downright awful (I didn't finish it, not even close). The dressing was lacking in both flavor and consistency. The berries were fresh, and I picked at those a bit. The lettuce mix was fresh was well. We ordered a few drinks, which were overpriced, and underwhelming. Despite the poor quality food and drinks, the atmosphere was nice, but very very loud. I wasn't expecting it to be quite as loud, since we were in one of the back rooms. However, the worst part of my visit was going home and reeking of fryer grease. I could smell it when I was in bed, so had to get up and take a shower in the middle of the night because it was obnoxious. Won't be visiting again, and cannot in good faith recommend it for anything more than a pint and chat with friends (but don't stay too long, you'll stink when you leave!)

I can't really give this place too many stars only because I think that they could do so much better. It's newly renovated inside and a great place to stop if you're in the area for lack of much competition. :) Also, don't get me wrong, a simple burger or plate of fries or wings will be served perfectly here. I just wish that there was a little more inspiration in the food offerings, or better beer selection. It's ok, I'm hard to please. :) That being said, I've been here a number of times, and will return when visiting friends in the area, because they're always open and greet us with smiles. They have a large patio for outdoor eating, and I can drink a handful of beers while waiting for my laundry to get done down the street. The service has always been good as well, never a problem with a waitress or bartender. Also, (I forget which nights) but they have a pretty cool live music program in the summer which helps us WNY'ers to enjoy the limited outside time we are offered.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Quiet cheerful atmosphere. Ordered a martini and then the steak sandwich and fries. The martini was peeeeerfect. The sandwich was juicy, delicious, and cooked to perfection. Served with a large side of fries that are to. Die. For. Dunked them in some blue cheese. I left full and happy. The bill was 25.99. Good deal for all that I got! Highly recommend this place....I have been there about 6 times now.

Stopped in for drinks with a group of friends on a Saturday night. Bar was full but not too crowded. Mike the bartender was very knowledgeable and worked his butt off to keep the patrons served and happy. A pretty good Whiskey / Bourbon selection Beautiful decor clean bathrooms, limited parking was the only downside.

Had the grilled vegetable wrap which was good. The Guinness stew was Not Guinness stew! Big disappointment. It's covered in cheddar cheese like French onion soup. I've never seen anything like it. Missing seasoning. The true Guinness stew recipe is on YouTube, it's sooo good! Gluten free is not available except if you want salad. Mashed potatoes were dry.

After at least a dozen visits since this local pub opened I'm again disappointed. Hubby and I went last night at 6:15pm. We were greeted and seated nicely and the vibe is great. Drinks came in a timely way. 2 tables of 5 people total came in after us and were served drinks and food before us. Waitress said something about a computer/ticket mix up......... Finally after 45 mins our dried out food was served. My appetizer pizza was a special, they are trying to do a cinco de mayo thing over the weekend. I had a chorizo pizza. Obviously jarred salsa was used and as I said, DRIED out. The chorizo was burnt. It was inedible. Husband had an entree that is always on the menu, the Carpetbagger. He said the steak was over cooked and smothered in a gravy he didn't remember it ever having in the past. I think our meals sat under a heat lamp for 30 minutes. Was so hoping the food would be better after the remodel. Alas.

I came here on Saturday night with my girlfriend and her family around 7:30pm and we were seated immediately upon our arrival. This place is huge and reminded me a lot of a bar I used to go to in NYC. My girlfriend and I arrived before her parents and brother, and our waiter asked us for our drink order before they arrived. I was impressed with their craft beer list and ordered a Big Ditch Hayburner (gotta support the local guys). Her family arrived and our waiter was there shortly after to take their drink order. We needed a little more time to peruse the menu, so we told our waiter to stop back in a couple minutes. It took him about 5-7 minutes to stop back, but he sincerely apologized that he was busy with other tables. We ordered the margarita pizza and Blarney Nachos as an app for the table. These arrived pretty quick after we ordered them and both were amazing. The nachos were very interesting, and I think if I ordered them again I would get them without the olives. None-the-less the combo of scratch potato chips, bacon, cheddar sauce, and creme fraiche was the prefect combination. Fair warning the portion is HUGE and we barely finished half of them between a table of 5 (well worth $10). Our entrees came out about 10 minutes after our apps. I ordered the shepherds pie which is the PERFECT meal for a cold Buffalo winter night. The rest of the table seemed to enjoy their meals as well and overall we were impressed with the entire experience. The only reason why this place gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the parking situation. Their lot has very limited parking and there is a sign in front that informs you to park down the street. On a cold winter day with snow on the ground this isn't exactly the most desirable option and I can see how people would deflect to another location due to this. I will definitely be back in the near future whether it be for dining or to hang out at the bar to watch a game or for a happy hour with coworkers.

I've always had good dinners here. Recently I tried one of the specials. The Ahi Tuna. It was cooked to perfection, rare. It also had a terryaki honey textured marinade on it. It was served with fried rice. I'll definitely be going back to hopefully get it again.

First impressions: -No parking- we had to park in the lot on the other side of the Creekview. During a downpour. Ooof. The Irishman lot is tiny and there are 4 handicapped spots, 2 of which were open, and I think should be regular parking. -Damn, it's loud in this joint!!!!! The noise level in this restaurant turned me so off to the point that I would not venture back until that's solved or unless it was a gorgeous day out to sit outdoors. Obviously, it was raining when we were there so our idea to sit on the patio was thwarted. The Service & Food: -Waiter was fine but admitted to having a hearing issue (gee, I can't imagine why...). He forgot the chicken on my dish, even though I asked for it. Claimed I never asked for it... Well... There's that noise/hearing issue interfering with the service. I would imagine that orders get screwed up often here because of the noise... Whatever. Otherwise, he was pleasant. -The garden (side) salad was really good. Very fresh, huge pieces of cucumber and tomato. Needed croutons or a nut/seed... but it was okay by itself too. -The onion soup is damn tasty! I didn't order it, but wished I did once I tried it. I would get this soup, a salad, and maybe an appetizer to split if I were ever to come back. -The Blarney Fries were awesome- natural cut fries, cheese on top, and a delicious cup of gravy on the side. Yummy!!! I had some pasta dish with veggies. It was terrible. Pasta was so over-boiled it was mushy. The "sauce" was bitter and just not appealing. Nothing about this dish was good. I tasted the Guiness Stew- was TERRIBLE. Had a super strong taste of thyme and was very bitter. Plus my mom said there were only like 2 small chunks of meat in the entire bowl. Not good. The fish & chips was decent. That'd be another good choice to order here, like the soup and salad. The grilled filet special was AWFUL! I had a hard time believing that the steak was actually filet. It was gritty and just not good. My sister ordered it medium rare but it was more medium. Plus it had absolutely NO seasoning on it. None. No salt, nothing. Was weird!!! It was served with awful couscous that was WAY over boiled and flavorless, aside from some spicy paprika dump on top. Terrible. Overall, most everything other than the pub food items had a weird bitter taste. Our tab came to $110 (before tip) for 4 people, with no alcohol. I think that's WAY too much to pay for mediocre food. As it stands, I wouldn't come back until the acoustics improve. And if I come back, I would order pub food, soup, or salad. Don't waste your money on the expensive dinner items. Yuck! Hey owner... Fix the noise issue!!!!

Great atmosphere and woodwork around the whole place. Decided to go here for Fat Tuesday and it didn't disappoint. The pub burger was cooked to perfection and the Mardis Gras drink specials were a great price. Was in the area for work and randomly picked this place. Great choice! Only complaint was that it was so loud I couldn't hear my dinner partner talking.

Not impressed. Quality of the food isn't all that great, neither is the service (server checked on us after 30 minutes). Nothing to rave about- probably wouldn't go back.

Was disappointed in the food. I will start with the negatives and end on a positive note. We ordered the Blarney Nachos ..Home made chips, back and Tan cheese sauce, bacon, homemade salsa, crème fraiche and banana peppers. Don't know why I thought the chips would be warm, but there weren't. The cheese sauce wasn't hot or even remotely warm either. It really looked, smelled and tasted like the cheese sauce out of a can .... and I am not a fan, and I am not a fan of that The best Corned Beef sandwich in the world ?? It did not have cheese, and the chef e didn't drain the sauerkraut so the bottom of the bread was so soggy that I had to eat it with a knife and fork My husband said his chicken on a pretzel roll was ok, not a lot of flavor, but OK We both agreed that the hand cut fries were delicious It was a beautiful night and we got to sit on the patio ! It was a Tuesday night and lucky for us, all bottles of wine were half price ! I may go back again, but this time for lunch. There were 4 of us and we all wanted a wrap sandwich but they only serve them at lunch.. They should be served all the time, or at least all the time in the summer

I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night, and my dining partners and I were delighted to find out Tuesdays are half prices bottles of wine!! Yay! We were a party of three, with two red wine drinkers and one white wine drinker. This worked out perfectly, as we were able to order two separate bottles of wine for a very reasonable price (One of the bottles of wine did not get finished, and the waitress ended up corking it and letting us take it home!) Atmosphere: I liked the feel of this "Irish Pub". It was very warm and inviting. My only complaint was that there was only one tiny, VERY dim light hanging above our table. It was so dark that we actually had to pull out cell phones in order to read the menu. I do like darker ambiances for dining; however this was just a little too dark. The waitress even commented saying it was a little dark at our table. Food: I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was so-so; nothing spectacular. Another person ordered the Reuben sandwich and was unfortunately disappointed. He said it was way too dry, and actually had to ask the waitress for a side of the "special dressing". Even after adding that, he commented "it just wasn't a good Reuben". I can't remember what the third person ordered as their entrée, but they did order the Blarney fries, and loved them! Overall, I don't think anyone was overly pleased with their meals, but at the same time it wasn't inedible, just kind of plain. Service: The overall service was well. Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us numerous times. She was also training another employee, who was very friendly each time they came to the table together. I especially liked the fact that they allowed you to take home an unfinished bottle of wine. And now that I know Tuesday is half priced bottles of wine, I may have to return on a Tuesday! My "3 star" rating of this restaurant defines it adequately in my book. Nothing there is spectacular, over the top, or unique. However nothing is displeasing to where I would not return. It may not be on my list of top ten places to go, but if I were to return for something, I wouldn't be disappointed.

The way I see it, Buffalo summers are short, so I should sit outside at the Irishman as often as possible to enjoy the fresh air! I'm a huge fan of their loaded Irish fries and pretzel bun chicken sandwich. If the outdoor seating is full, don't fret, the inside bar is a good reminder of Ireland!

Went for lunch right at 12, it wasn't too busy when I got there but it filled up quickly. The service was less than impressive. Polite, but by no means friendly. Also the server managed to avoid looking in my direction for the five full minutes I was staring at her chatting with coworkers while waiting to order. I tried a wrap and fries, and both were great. I was extremely happy with the food and the portions. I may be somewhat biased on prices coming from New York, but I thought they were fairly reasonable for what came out. Overall, would definitely recommend as a decent lunch spot, and I would give it another go.

I'm only giving this place 2 stars because the French onion soup I had here was great.... Otherwise, I will not be returning here for dinner, ever! We were looking forward to sitting on the patio, but because of a sudden downpour, had to sit inside. Based on a previous trip here, I knew none of us were going to be able to hear each other, or anything else above the noisiness of this place. It wasn't even very crowded, but we had to yell at each other just to talk! And hey, my mom and sister and I are Italian but that's even too much for us! Our waiter was very nice and friendly, but he stated he had a hearing problem...go figure! Must be a job hazard there. Incidentally, I was the only one at our table who even heard him say this! The parking "lot" is ridiculous. I know the restaurant is situated in a very crowded place on Main Street, but there are like 8 spots, and a bunch were handicap! Not a single one of us enjoyed our meals. After reading some other reviews, I'd have to say we should have just ordered pub food. I had the special- supposedly filet (not even close) ordered medium rare, served well done (must be that pesky hearing problem!) with horrible puffy, overdone plain couscous on the side with only a sprinkling of paprika over it. For $25...I could have died. I have to find a positive though, and mention again how great the onion soup was. Thank god I had that. Because I'm not a drinker, I have to count on decent tasting soda, and let me just say, I don't know if something was wrong with the dispenser, or if they're just too concerned with their Jamison and Guinness, but the diet Pepsi tasted like fizzy bug spray-- YUCK! I know, I know, some people would say that's what you get for ordering a soda in an Irish pub, but come on! Not all of us can drink like its St. Patty's Day...unless you wanna post my bail. Haha! I probably will hang on the patio here during old home days, since that's where my friends tend to come after the beer tent closes, but that's about the only way I'm returning to the Irishman

I went here to eat for the first time. I went with a small group for lunch and we all got salads. Because it was so nice outside, we decided to sit on the patio under an umbrella. The breeze was nice and even though we were right near Main Street, we didn't mind the noise. I had the caesar salad. I hadn't read what was included with the salad when I ordered so I was surprised when i got it. There was a traditional caesar dressing on the salad as well as a balsamic dressing. They worked well together. I was also surprised by the "parmesan tuille" but broke it into pieces and it, too, was a great addition to the salad. As I looked at the other salads they all looked delicious. One person got the almond chicken salad, another got the seasonal green salad, and someone got the greek salad. I would definitely come here again for lunch or dinner!

I've heard about The Irishman but finally stopped in recently on a Sunday for brunch with a group of friends. First of all, I don't know if the floors had just been waxed but I'm shocked that no one has slipped, fallen and been injured in this place. One literally had to shuffle one's feet in order to stay upright on Sunday, and this was before the Bloody Marys and mimosas! It was so bad that strangers were talking about it with each other. The brunch menu had good selections. I had a skillet breakfast which was not big like you'd get in a diner, but tasted good. Everyone in our group seemed to enjoy their food which ranged from breakfast items to a fish fry. The good food made up for the service, which was slow but friendly. They appeared to be understaffed. Having a friendly waiter made the inattentiveness less annoying. Overall, the food was good but this experience did not leave me feeling like I need to return any time soon.

Over the past six months quality in food and attitude in service has been steadily declining. Nothing on the menu is worth the price, well not what is served to you. The descriptions on the menu and what you get is almost at the McD's advertised product and what it thrown n your bag at the drive-through. Last summer the food wager at for above bar average fare and some things were superb , not anymore not by a longahot. Do yourself a favor and checkout Brennan's down the road on Transit or the Buffalo Brewpub for a Irish bar that delivers decent grub.

The Irishman is a great place for a pint, hard cider (not just woodchuck, yay!), or a half price bottle of wine on Tuesdays. Happy hour-ers are occasionally treated to some homemade potato chips at the bar, still warm from the kitchen. The last time we visited we raced in to catch lunch, admittedly cutting it pretty close (3:50 when lunch ended at 4). By the time the slow service made it back with our drinks (which we ordered right upon sitting), she would no longer let us order lunch - which I suppose was fine, but we weren't then treated with the full dinner work-up (bread, water, etc) which I found a little annoying. The food is very good, though. My husband almost always orders the pub burger with mushrooms and loves it, and I've made my way by now through most of the salads without a complaint. I have to say though, don't leave this restaurant without trying an order of the Guinness wings - they are some of the best bbq wings we've ever had! The Sunday brunch is also very good, and on holidays they have an expanded brunch menu. The new patio looks great and is much bigger than the original, and they managed to expand it without losing much of the already limited parking. Live music and traditionally Irish bartenders top off the experience at Irishman - it's become one of our regular places and it only seems to get better. Somehow, they've made Irish food taste good!

The Irishman is the quintessential definition of a 3 in my book. Nothing there is great, nothing is really horrible, and everything is what it is. The draught selection consists of Irish staples Guinness, Harp, Murphy's, and then other swill that isn't very interesting. Again, the beer selection is okay - better than Blue / Blue Light but no real interesting options. I have never been impressed by the food either. Having been there a handful of times I have jumped around the menu looking to strike gold but that never happens. I've had a burger, fish fry, the "Best Rueben in Town", and a steak salad, none of which impressed but none ruined my day. It's close to where I work so sometimes I end up there because of better options. After finishing my meal I usually have the "ah-ha" moment of why I don't go more often. The highlight seems to be the patio that faces rush hour traffic in Williamsville. It serves up fresh car exhaust fumes to go with your cocktail of choice.

The Irishman Pub is a nice little restaurant in the heart of Williamsville. This place is beautifully decorated and has all the charm of a pub in the Irish countryside. We've been here many times for Saturday or Sunday brunch. Their menu for brunch is terrific. My personal favorite is the corned beef hash skillet. The hash is homemade with a sauce that has a bit of a kick to it. I also recommend the eggs benedict. Also during brunch are traditional Irish sessions. If you're not familiar, sessions are an informal gathering of people leisurely playing traditional Irish music. The music is played at a low volume level which keeps the experience enjoyable. One note -- I've never been here for dinner so I cannot speak for how this place is at night.

Two friends and I were here for lunch recently. As my sampling size for Williamsville restaurants was rather small, we decided on heading here. That and the fact that I don't have enough data points for Irish food. I should say that my lunch was okay. 3 stars. Yeah, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't stellar either. I had the soup of the day (which was spicy Italian) with a half Dublin Decker sandwich. The soup was good. The sandwich was rather greasy, and the chips that went with it were not crispy. Somehow, the food I got strengthened the stereotype that Irish food is unhealthy greasy food. That's a negative, but at least it came with style, balancing it out. So overall, I give it three stars, but it isn't the place that sticks out to my mind as a prime example of a dining experience.

Went back for dinner...and it was SLOP...Pure SLOP. The Shepard's Pie was a mushy goo and my dinner companions pecan crusted chicken breast was covered in craisins and garlic pieces....just disgusting. I guess it really depends on who is cooking, because I have had some phenomenal meals there.

1/2 price bottles of wine on Tuesday, you know where to find me. Excellent steak sandwich (though they forgot the cheese and sort of shrugged when we mentioned it). They serve (hard) cider and have foofy hot drinks for their winter menu. Wed nite open mic night? SUCKS.

I've been to the Irishman many times, mostly to meet friends at the bar. I think this is about as authentic as you'll get for Irish food in the area, at least in the burbs, though I much prefer the Shepard's Pie at the Shannon Pub on the Boulevard. First I'll mention that the food is not what made me give three stars. If I was rating just based on food, I would perhaps give two stars. It's stodgy tasting, and too flavorful for my taste. They use a seasoning in almost all the dishes that I've tried that prevent me from ever ordering anything aside from appetizers. Also, if I had to guess, I'd say the potatoes are boiled in cabbage water -I hate the taste of cabbage and it's very strong in a lot of the dishes here. The atmosphere is dark and rather gloomy inside -they could use a few more lights around the place. There's a fine line between ambiance and a spooky-haunted-pub feel. I suppose it's safe to say that as long as it's a beautiful summer day and you like sitting outside, you'll be very satisfied -the outdoor seating area is large, accommodating, and full of action until midnight or later! A great change for the Village, in my opinion. Parking is a nightmare!! And Lord help you if you come here during one of the many summertime events in the Village (i.e. Music on Main, Old Home Days, Glen Park Art Festival, etc!) Not even sure if it's legal, but I always park in the library parking lot, as long as that is not full. OK, now for the good part of my review! And this is why I usually just go to the bar...the bartenders are great! They are friendly, professional and get to know you after just a couple visits. The drinks I've had are basic Irish pub necessities -Smithwicks, McSorley's, Guinness, etc. But there's so much more! I had a Mojito here -DELICIOUS! Made with fresh limes and mint leaves. I feel I should note -there's obviously some tension between staff members -I witnessed a snide exchange between a bartender and a server, not something that customers should have to watch; it was uncomfortable. I came here this past week for Music on Main for the first time -my party and I had a fabulous time, sipping drinks outside while the band performed. No need for a table, plenty of standing room. However, to get those drinks, it took THIRTY MINUTES! Only **TWO** bartenders working on what must be one of the busiest nights of the week in the summer!!!! I was very disappointed. The first round took us 30 minutes to even get to the bar. We should have ordered a few rounds of drinks while we were up there. We attempted to get round 2 an hour later. We even made it TO THE BAR in the first 10 minutes, but were overlooked for another 25 minutes. We felt utterly ignored by the bartenders. On top of the usual bar traffic, the servers were also ordering drinks on the far side of the bar for the tables they were waiting on; they clearly got priority over everyone else which got frustrating. Meanwhile, we're missing the music! :( We ditched and went across the street to Sorrentino's. Music on Main is a great event to enjoy while at the Irishman on Thursdays; if only they had more bartenders working. Nevertheless, I will continue to come here for Saturday nights with my friends -we like the potato skins with a pint of beer. Mmmm.

Last night was a PERFECT night to sit out on the patio and enjoy a shared bottle of wine and dinner with a friend. As always, it was very crowded at The Irishman, but we only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. We began our bottle of wine at the bar and BONUS: Tuesday is half price bottles! A great selection too. I had the fish and chips and my friend had the corned beef and cabbage. A fish fry on a Tuesday! Yay! The fish was delicious.... flakey, white, just enough (but not too much) batter. The only negative thing about it was it was "skin-on" and I'm a bit of a baby about that kind of thing. The french fries were "skin-on" too, but that I love. Great cole slaw... not too much mayo, and very crisp and fresh. My friend's corned beef looked good and he ate every last bite. The service was excellent. Our waitress was helpful and upbeat. She accidently spilled a drop or two of corned beef "juice" on my friend and came right out with seltzer and napkins for the clean-up (without being asked) and later on gave us a dessert "on the house". Yummy, creamy cheesecake with strawberries and REAL whipped cream. Yes, for me that matters.

So, I've been here a few times. I believe this is my 5th. There were 4 of us, and we decided to sit outside. Nice out there, not noisy, people watching is good, and the music can be heard. So far, so good. Then our server shows up. She's green. Like so green, this is her first night. I actually felt bad for her. Very nice, but absolutely, completely overwhelmed. Literally had to point out items on the menu so that she could write them down, as if she's never actually seen the menu before. Every thing that we ordered, whether it was apps, drinks, food, coffee, was a struggle. But, I can't blame her. It really appeared that she just wasn't trained. Didn't shadow someone experienced. Waters were forgotten, food mis-served, feeling rushed at the end of the meal. All just signs of little training, and then getting tossed out of the nest to fly. The food. Not bad, but not great. I had the Irish ziti, which was pretty good. Fiancee had a steak that was not good at all, which seems to repeat itself on a few reviews here. Overall, the experience would have been fine, but server training or lack thereof, really showed. Luckily neither I nor the others in my party had any sort of deadlines, and we're all pretty easy going. I've been out with plenty of people, where this experience would have turned into a big problem.

Anxiously awaiting the reopening. Great food! Wonderful salad options with quality ingredients - unusual to restaurants of this kind. Quality pub food as well. The place has a nice pub feel while being clean and having updated dish-wear and furniture. For those complaining of minimal parking, there is on-street parking and the municipal building has plenty of spots available that are convenient .... It's a cute village that's designed for walking and hospitality to Main Street business.....not football sized parking lots. All together great place - did I mention a great bar scene? Lots of fun and youthful !

First off, this is NOT and authentic Irish Pub...the food is quite good, I suppose that's why they added "and Eatery" to the name. The salads are good, very fresh ingredients and well put together with quite a few good combinations, I had the Steak Salad while my dinner partner enjoyed her Shepard's Pie. Both dishes were well prepared and very good. What would an establishment of this genre be without a well appointed bar? They have a rather extensive list of wines, whiskey's (both Irish and Scotch), and an assortment of beers (although why one would choose a beer other than Guinness in this circumstance is beyond my comprehension). Need a reason to go out on a Tuesday night? They have 1/2 price bottles of wine. I have read the reviews of others here and I think two of their complaints are easily explained. I've read a couple of reviews complaining that it is loud. In fact, it is loud. It's an Irish Pub. I've never know a quiet Irish Pub or a quiet Irishman. I don't mean to insult the Irish but there is a reason for the term "Irish Whisper". There have also been comments that the place is dark and again, perhaps it is. If you want light and airy, an Irish Pub is probably not the place to find it. When it comes to the parking, they do have a parking lot, however, this being a very popular establishment the lot is usually fairly full. I have always been able to find a spot though.

Went here around christmas of 2011 to hang out with a bunch of other disgruntled employees at the company I used to work for that was down the street from this fine establishment. When you walk into here you see a lot of great woodwork that brings out the Irish pub feel immediately. I unfortunately didn't eat food here for we just stopped off for a few beers to wind down and enjoy each other's company outside of the hell we called work. I ordered a few beers as well as everyone else. The place wasn't busy yet because it was around 3:30pm, so we came at a good time where it wouldn't be too crowded and we could enjoy the authentic look of the Irish pub we were looking for. The staff is mighty friendly to us which is always a plus. The drink prices were reasonable, and nothing too different from any other pub or bar you'll go to in Western New York. I'd recommend this place just for the interior design looking so authentic. I would go back to hang out here again and try their food too.

I love Irish Pub Food, but it's so heavy I rarely get it, so when I do I want it to be good. The Irishman Salad was great, we shared. We also split the fish & chips, it was great, I know there are tons of Fish Fry places in town, but this was better than most I've had and it's available all the time. I'll be back for sure!

Recently moving into the neighborhood, we stopped by this place in hopes of finding a new regular venue. After our service, and the best appetizer I've ever tasted - we'll definitely be back! There was a Steak for Two special going on so we decided to give it a shot. The meal included salad, a 32 oz. steak, potatoes, asparagus, homemade fresh out of the oven bread, a bottle of wine, desserts, and an appetizer. This was all for just shy of $70. The appetizer was described as an Irish Spring Roll, which was a fried spring roll with a delicious inside combination of corned beef, cabbage, and swiss cheese. We were hesitant to try this at first, mostly do to the fact that neither of us regularly ate corned beef, BUT we gave it a shot. AND BOY ARE WE GLAD THAT WE DID. We took our first bites and immediately expressed our delight in this appetizer. It was one of the best I've had. I'm a bit disappointed that it is not a regular appetizer item on the menu (for sure, I would come in just to order this and a pint or two!). The asparagus was also delicious and the potatoes were quite tasty. As for the steak, I was delighted with mine, but our second half was ordered medium-well and came back more dry and less pink. It was still good, but not what was expected. One thing that really impressed us was the wait staff. Our waiter, Danial, was absolutely fabulous. I haven't had such good service in a very long time. He was not *too* attentive to our needs, but when he needed to be there, he was close by. He even noticed the steak being overcooked and made a comment about that not being what we asked for. I found that pretty impressive that he was looking out for us, rather than us going to him. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. We will be dining here again in the near future!

I love this place. The food is amazing and what makes it special is that it tastes like no other food I've eaten before. It's stands true to its authentic Irish style, and it's delicious. The Dublin Apple Martini is a must! Made with Irish whiskey, apple pucker and cranberry juice it's one of the best apple-tinis I've ever had. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is unique and relaxing. I wish more pubs here in Buffalo would have an European atmosphere. It's a great place to hang out with friends on a Friday night, if the live music too loud you have the option to sit outside. Awesome place!

We went to The Irishman for dinner tonight as part of a business trip. Having been here before, the noise level mentioned before really did not strike me as much. It was lively, but perhaps a hot Monday defuses the noise a little bit. The food here is alright. There isa selection of irish fare and some good beer. The Southern Tier IPA is quite nice, very hoppy. The Shepherd's Pie though, while tasty, is odd. First off, it's not a pie, more of a soup with some mash thrown in. They use shredded colby cheese, which makes it odd, and the lamb could use about another 15 minutes in the stew to make it fork tender. Overall an alright place. Not a highlight, but doable if you are in Williamsville and want to walk.

I love a nice patio in the Summer. The Irishman's new patio was perfect for lunch with Seanie & Grace today. Great improved menu since the last time I was there. I ordered the Irishman salad served with fresh fiel greens, grilled seasoned chicken, a sliced hardboiled egg, avocado wedge, chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, and Irish ham. I don't think I love Irish ham... I chose the housemade white French dessing. I think I love white French dressing. The salad was just perfect. Sean ordered a wrap with sirloin, carmelized onions, and blue cheese. He was mmmmmming inbetween bites. Grace had a Caesar wrap and loved it. Too big for her to be a member of the clean plate club though. Both wraps came with fresh cut fries. The tables are well equipped with folding umbrellas so you can choose to fry, or be shaded. Our server Sue was super cool and attentive. My only complaint is that almost at the end of our meal, the yellowjackets started to swarm, but that could happen on any patio.

Nice chill Irish pub to kick back and check out some live local talent. Also, I'm a sucker for Irish cider - they didn't have Magner's here but had something else (can't remember the name) which was just as good.

First off, parking can be a pain. Secondly, the place is pretty dimly lit, but the large windows do allow some natural light in; I'm not sure if these windows would be a plus or a negative in the winter.. Staring out at main street and all the snow can be pretty depressing. -They have quite the whiskey selection. Too bad I can't stand whiskey, haha. Their beer selection is pretty good, I expected more Irish beer options though. -I ordered a roast beef dish, with the vegetable side. Te vegetable side was no more than 5 pieces of asparagus

Slow service on a not so busy day. Could have been our server but food easily took 45 mins. Plus the table had a previous food smear on it. Kinda gross. Food was three out of five stars.

My husband had the best shepherd's pie I've ever had. My corned beef was a little dry. It was a spur of the moment outing. We brought our 10 week old baby. The atmosphere was nice - a little pubish,a little fancy. I'll be back.

The atmosphere is warm and cozy with lots of dark wood, yet much sleeker and newer than other Irish pubs I've frequented. But this building has been quite a few other businesses (gas station, pharmacy, bakery) so it's not surprising to see the shiny-new interior. The staff is excellent. Our waiter, Dan, was sufficiently attentive without hovering, nice and personable with out being overly friendly. The hostess even teased me a little for showing up the night before because I got the dates wrong. Ahh, Buffalo, where everyone will razz you for anything... I'm so glad to be home. They have a good variety of booze options, including coffee, hot chocolate, and hot cider drinks. I had the Hot Apple Pie (hot cider, vanilla vodka, and cinnamon schnappes) and the husband had Hot Irish Eyes (hot chocolate, Irish whiskey, and creme de menthe) which we both thoroughly enjoyed. At our table was also wine, Smithwick's (pronounced Schmitticks), Black and Tans, and one of the Irish coffee drinks. Dan was great about attending to our drink requests. The menu looked really good and I had a hard time deciding what I would order, but I finally settled on the Bangers and Mac: sausages, fresh asparagus, and macaroni smothered in the Irishman's hand made Black and Tan cheese. I was anticipating a sharper cheese, so I was a little dissapointed with the sauce that was more like an alfredo. It was good, just not what I was anticipating. Also at our table were wings, Shepherd's Pie, and the Apple and Spinach salad. Everyone seemed pleased, yet not excited about the food. Then the music started. I know that it is hard to get up on stage and perform for a crowd. But, it was boring and I had to leave. I was surprised by the age of the crowd, which was mostly early 20's, especially since the music was watered-down 70's light rock and the fact that these youngins didn't run screaming when the band started. I probably wouldn't even mention it if it weren't for the fact that one of our dinnermates had been here before and said the music has made her leave before too. So go for the drinks and atmosphere, lower your expectations from the images you get from the menu descriptions, and leave before the music starts.

I've been here a handful of times, mostly just for drinks... it's cool / decent. I like the decor just fine, it could be bigger though. There never seems to be enough tables, and the bar can get a little tight. I've only had an appetizer or two so i cannot really comment on the food... though I've been to the 2 or 3 other Irish pubs in this city and can assume the food is close to the same. Some people make a big deal out of the "perfect pint" of Guiness. I don't know what that is, or what it's supposed to be... but they do the shamrock tracing thingy here, so there's that. I was a little disappointed that they were out of the advertised Brooklyn Chocolate Stout. My sissy ordered a hot cider with rum... and it was outstanding. It gets sweeter with each sip (she could barely finish it). There are several other 'hot toddys' on the drink menu as well. I'd probably come back as it's convenient for where I live.

I went back recently for lunch with a large group again. Despite being early for our reservation, they were still able to accommodate us pretty quickly. To start, I tried the Guinness bbq wings - they were pretty good but I didn't really get much Guinness flavor from them. The blue cheese sauce was very good though - in fact, I ordered it to have with the fries that came with my main course (Pub Burger). I got my burger with bacon, caramelized onions and blue cheese crumbles. It was pretty tasty, but the burger was a little overcooked. Fries were still very good - they definitely seem fresh and hand-cut. Anyway, I liked the food I had more this time. Service was good again. 3.5

Snuck in here while on a business trip to Buffalo. Was blown away by the Shepperd's Pie. I love this dish, and typically, I get some small rendition of the real deal, with some kind of ground beef or lamb at the bottom, stewed in spices and then some peas and mashed potatoes on top. NOT HERE... This place does it right. They stew real chunks of lamb for up to two days in onions, and other earthy spices. Then they add the peas and some carrots and chunks of potatoes. Topping that stew is a heap of mashed potatoes covered in cheese and then melted under the salamander. What is most important here is how they create the stew and then let it sit for two days so the flavors all marry. My spaghetti gravy always tastes better the next day or two days later. Oh yeah, and it's all served in a cast iron skillet. The only sadness was I had been there for lunch and could not order a tall pint to wash it all down. :( Oy!

i've been to this restaurant twice now, and I enjoyed it both times. The first time I went I had the fish and chips, pretty good for a buffalo fish fry but I have definitely had better. on my second trip, I had the corn beef and cabbage...excellent. some of the best corn beef i've ever had. my mom had the baked haddock topped with spinich and artichokes, also very tasty. menu is on the smaller side, with some traditional irish meals and sandwiches. there is a full bar and wine list...and they also offer live music...we were there on a friday night and the band was just starting up my only complaints are that the service was a little slow, and it can get quite loud, with high ceilings, lots of echo.

The food isnt incredible, however, the bar area is always a good time. Since they have put the patio in I have gone quite a bit more often.

Delicious fish fry, and amazing black and tan macaroni & cheese. The menu is a bit bizarre in the days/times of food offerings (i.e. no sandwiches on Sundays?) - but good consistent food nonetheless.

Unfortunately, despite all of the very nice reviews my experience here tonight was at the best i would say fair. - Drinks - good (except they don't offer Bulmers (if you've been to Ireland you know what i'm talking about!) - Service - poor - Food - Depends on the dish my shepards pie was not seasoned at all and i'm not one to dump on the salt and pepper but the corned beef was very good! the apple and cinnamon smells were mouth watering before i even took a bite of my mothers dish! Also the Irish version of french onion soup was fantastic! my sister and i were arguing over who got the next spoonful! it was peppery and yet a little sweet oh so good!

The Irishman is a great place to relax and grab a beer. Located in the village of Williamsville, The Irishman is a modern spin on an Old World pub, with it's low lighting and laid back atmosphere. My fellow diner and I sat in the "library" section, which was actually just a quiet corner away from the front bar. I ordered a Sam Adams on draft, but was surprised to see that their selection was somewhat limited. Although the menu features the traditional pub fare, the waitress alerted us that they recently revamped the menu to include new items, like signature salads. I tried the Almond Chicken Salad, which contained an unusual but tasty blend of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. For being labeled an "Irish pub," I was surprised to find that many of the entrees were actually quite pricey ($20 and up), which is why my friend and I stuck to just ordering appetizers. Despite the upscale prices, The Irishman is cozy and even family friendly, and I'd recommend it for a quick bite.
