Great kosher burger place on the Upper West Side. Prices were average for kosher food, but what differentiates this kosher joint from nearly every other I've been to is the service- it's actually good!! The burgers were great- salty, juicy and satisfying. And the French fries, which were advertised as hand cut on the menu, actually were hand cut! They were super crunchy and delicious, and definitely didn't come from a freezer bag. I'd definitely come back.

The food is OK, but not worth the prices and the service is horrendous. I mean, really horrendous. I dont know how this place is still open. One time I gave them $21 for a bill of $20.68 and was told that their "policy" is to "round up" and would not give me change. When I objected I was told that if I was going to make a "big deal out of it" they would give me change. Amsterdam Burger is a few blocks away, better food and decent people working there.

This was my first visit to Gotham Burger, and it was a great experience. It was packed even though it was Tuesday night, but our group only had to wait a short while. While I do not drink, others in my party seemed to be happy with their cocktails. The appetizers came quickly, and were amazing, especially the ribs! My burger order was not customary as I have dietary restrictions, but it was no problem for them, and my burger was delicious as well. The fried oreos for dessert were a big hit at our table. I don't get into Manhattan too often, but I'd definitely visit Gotham Burger again!

Poor service and bad food makes for no repeat business. Not busy yet a long wait to just get seated, a longer wait to be attended to by a server, and bad tasting food waiting at the end of this terrible rainbow.

Gotham burger was very generous. They were kind enough to give us both bad tasting food and salmonella when my wife and I went there a while back. They have since been shut down by the health department and hopefully have begun to change their ways.

Good food. The burgers were very filling and the combo was a great value. We ordered our burgers medium but they came a bit on the rare side, but they were still good. The atmosphere was very nice, but they could use a few more servers. Update: been here a few more times. The meat is usually underdone so I order it a bit more cooked than I normally like.

Will never go here again. They were slow, apathetic, and didn't seem prepared for business. There's no indication on the sign or menus that it's kosher does not serve real cheese. I tried to get a veggie burger but was told 25 minutes after we ordered that it "fell apart" and it was "last" veggie burger available. So I ordered a portobello mushroom burger which was burned to a crisp. One of the 4 people I was with also did not receive what she ordered. We waited far too long for the correct food to arrive. No acknowledgement or apologies from staff. I attempted to speak to the manager but the message was not passed on by the waiter. First & last visit to this place.

So I ordered an appetizer and two sandwiches, the steak sandwich was good would have been better if it was actually hot... the grilled chicken sandwich was ok the sliders never showed up! I ordered some take out for my brother, so I ordered the sliders again asked for my burgers to be cooked medium I got an extremely rare burger as red as they get it was tasteless and no one even cares the service is one of the worst I've ever experienced

Hungry? Thirsty? Late at night? Middle of the afternoon? Is it any day but Saturday? In the UWS? Then this is your place to go! Awesome all around. Always.

After giving Gotham Burger many chances, and consistently being disappointed, we went again last night to give it one more try. I'll start from the beginning: We were there on a Saturday night around 10:45 pm, but still found the restaurant pretty empty. Despite that, it took several minutes to get seated because they had ONE staff person seating people, taking orders, delivering food, acting as cashier, and tending bar. One single person to do all that. He was clearly incredibly overwhelmed, so we excused the fact that it took him an inordinately long time to take our orders. After he took our orders, I asked for a straw. Ten minutes later, I asked again. Five minutes later, again. I still felt bad because he was basically running the show, but it it hard to remain sympathetic to someone who treats you like every request you make (even one you have made 3 times with no results) is a waste of his time and beneath him. It took my husband pretty aggressively reminding him that I asked him three times for a straw in order to get one. My husband ordered a burger special with two sauces (Garlic Mayo and BBQ), and I ordered two sides -- mashed potatoes and string beans. We waited about another half hour before Mr. One Man Show came out with the string beans, at which point he let me know there are no mashed potatoes. How they have no mashed potatoes on what should be one of their busiest nights of the week is beyond me, but that's beyond this review. The string beans were average - lukewarm, very garlicky, but edible. I also didn't have any silverware, and asked the One Man Show two times - with no results - before finally taking a fork from the party sitting next to us. My husband's burger special came out five minutes later (without the fries) - the bun was cold and greasy, it had no sauces (in fact, despite two reminders to the One Man Show, the sauces never came), and the burger was dry, lukewarm, and tasteless. But my husband's biggest complaint shows how terrible this place really is: they stacked the burger upside down - instead of going on the bottom bun, the patty was right under the top bun, with the lettuce and tomatoes underneath it. That's just throwing basic hamburger rules out the window. When the fries finally came, they were soggy, but were at least hot. It took another good ten minutes and several reminders to the One Man Show to get the check. Almost $30 for one of the worst meals we've ever had. We went in optimistically with an open mind following several negative experiences. Instead of proving us wrong, the restaurant showed that they have simply given up and don't care about their customers or the business. Customers deserve to be treated better and for that reason we will never again give a dime to Gotham. If you're looking for a great kosher burger on the Upper West Side where they treat customers with respect, go elsewhere.

This is a great late night spot for those on the Upper West Side who keep kosher. The service is definitely not great, but I really enjoyed my veggie burger, and the fries are decent as well.

Terribly disappointing. I was so looking forward to taking my friends to a place that is advertised as a fun Kosher burger and beer place. The menus were dirty. The bar tender flicked a piece of food off my "clean" plate when I sat down. Kids were yelling, crying, and screaming. I felt like I was in a Chuck E. Cheese. I'd highly recommend this place to parents with young kids. What should have been an hour meal was drawn out to almost 3 hours of waiting for our food (our server forgot to put our order in), waiting forever for it be made, and then waiting forever to pay.

I loved my burger!! Juicy and thick patty. Delicious kaiser roll; perfectly toasted. The garlic mayo was AWESOME. Not too pungent with garlic, but just right. Waiter recommended I put on a little hot sauce and WOWZA! Glad I listened to him. The whole burger was just awesome. I went there during the NBA finals and the waiting staff was very friendly and didn't rush me. They took care of me, even though I was just drinking water. I also ate their chili fries. I enjoyed them, not the best, but they hit the spot. Their fried Oreos are TO DIE FOR!!!!!

This place was terrible. My bf and I walked in wanting to try this place out. Nobody greeted us or told us to have a seat, despite there being workers at the bar area in front. Okay.. so we picked a table and sat down ourselves, thinking that if they saw new customers at a table they would attend to us. We were literally sitting there for 10 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us or give us a menu. NOPE. Nobody said anything to us or gave us menus or water. So we walked out. How is this place still in business? Is this place a front for something? Because it doesn't seem like they want anybody's business. Save your time and skip this place. If you're in the mood for burgers, I suggest Amsterdam Burger Co down the street.

  • Rose Y.

Decent food. The sliders were good, though the waiter didn't bother to ask how I wanted it done. The chili dog was one of the smallest hotdogs I've ever seen. The apple martini could've used a stronger type of liquor. The price is average for a city restaurant. The waiter was nice and attentive (though we were the only customers there) :) Street parking if you're lucky.

Here is a review of the time I never ate at Gotham burger. I just stopped there on a Tuesday night, 8:30, with my ten year old daughter. As I walked in, the hostess, clearly learning the ropes with her trainer in tow, asked us if she could help us. I mean why do you think we're here?! I reply we'd like to eat. Before anything I gotta say I'm a very friendly person who really means no harm. The only table available was the table by the window. Clearly a clutch seat they were bummed about having to give to a party of two. We were finally seated. We waited for ten minutes. I checked my watch. We had made our choice from the dirtiest menu I'd seen in a while. Their house burger. I was getting psyched about a little mojito. Then many people came in. Clearly the place was fully booked. Ultimately another duo was seated, two men, and they were greeted and served water instantly. My daughter and I, parched and frustrated, looked at each other and decided to leave. I'm writing this review from my table at the little Thai place next door where I was served delicious shrimp and tofu fried rice. I can't help but feel like I didn't really belong there. I had no idea it was a kosher burger place until I logged in to yelp to see if other people had experienced a similar misfortune. I guess it's a hit or miss. In my case it missed the target big time...

Disappointing!! They should make more clear that this is a kosher spot... Dirty menus, dirty tables, horrible service from staff. We stood in the front waiting for a good 10 mins and took forever for them to finally take our order. The food was not cooked well and the beer we ordered was flat and warm! Avoid this place .. I would not recommend it.

We came here on a Sunday night hoping for a good burger. To start off, our server didn't come to our table for at least 15 minutes after we sat down. There wasn't a lot of people and it didn't seem busy. When she did get to us, it felt rushed and although she said she would bring us water, we had to ask again when the food finally got to our table. The server was clearly playing favorites to every other surrounding table, not too sure why. Since the tables were rather close to each other, we could hear her making jokes and conversations with everyone else, but when she ever actually came to our table it was with a annoyed and unamused face. (I like to think we could be fun people to socialize with) OH and we never received silverware and I couldn't ask for any cause no one cares two shits about us. The lack of service and attention left a bad taste in my mouth.

Horrible service with mediocre food. Waited over 1 hour to get our burgers with just a few patrons waiting to be served. Don't come here if you can avoid it.

Came here last week with two friends to celebrate an engagement in the trio. The food was decent, we all ordered different types of burgers and I think it's safe to say everyone enjoyed the food. The issue was more the price for the food. The food was not so amazing that it could justify the cost that these guys charge for it.. a $12 burger better be amazing, and here, it was just decent. So basically, the food was good, the price was expensive, the ambiance okay. Update: went to this place again, was still meh.. Come on people, you've been in business for a while, step up the quality!

The burgers and the sauces were pretty good but what really made this a great experience was our waiter, Connor's level of attentiveness and kindness. He was just moving back and forth between multiple tables in no time and making sure everyone had everything they needed.

Worst kosher restaurant I have ever been to which means it's really bad. Service is awful and staff is rude. Food is inconsistent, sometimes it's good other times it is terrible. Don't go here!!!

I went to this place last night - with my date - this place looked nice . But the service was horrible - after 18 mins I asked "can we order" & we got the food after 36 mins! & it's not like we order something difficult - we order a grill chicken sandwich & a salad . We were both upset & not happy with this place! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE!

Gotham Burger: an enigma. - Food took forever and a day to come, but when it did, it was stellar. Fried chicken was a tad overcooked, but crispy and fresh, and not greasy (!). Portions were very generous. First basket of fries was limp and pathetic, but these were quickly replaced with a crispy basket. Onion rings had good texture but taste-wise were kind of bland. Onion rings are greasy by nature, but these were crispy and not too fast-foodish. - It was a letdown when they were out of both gravy (for the friend chicken and mashed potatoes) and sangria, but maybe our first mistake was coming on a Thursday evening. - Ambiance was meh, but CLEAN, so positive points here. - ***Our server, Will, was the best***. Super patient and helpful. Can't fault him for the food that took a decade to prepare. He deserves better than this place. - The table behind us got really angry about how long the food took to come out, and pretty much vocalized our feelings. The manager did a great job of winning their good graces back. Would I come back? Probably not, but mostly because I don't spend time on the UWS. Probably the best kosher restaurant I've ever been to though. And pretty high up there as far as restaurants in general, too. Food-wise. Not experience-wise.

Placed an order for a turkey burger for delivery. Gentlemen on the phone said it would be 45 min, which was no problem for me. ONE HOUR LATER he calls to say he just tried to put the order in and the kitchen is out of turkey burgers. Then he asked if I would like something else. No. No thank you. You already wasted enough of my time.

I came to Gotham burger hoping to eat a really delicious burger. Obviously I hadn't checked the yelp reviews prior to arriving, otherwise I would have not gone. My biggest problem with the place is that no where on the menu or store does it is kosher food. I was looking to eat a real burger... If you're hungry and have no dietary restrictions I recommend you DO NOT go to this place. I have only one expectation of about a burger place, that is to make good burgers. I ordered a burger with fries and it was one of the most disgusting things I've eaten in a while. The burger bun was stale, the fries (which they claim they hand peel and make them a special way) seemed old. The burger itself had a funny aftertaste, and it's pretty small. The place itself is decent. It's just a typical sports bar. I can see why everyone is complaining about the service here. The waitress looks like she hates her life and is not enthusiastic or pleasant at all. Service I guess was mediocre. Overall terrible experience.

We came in here because we were in a burger frame of mind and were immediately weirded out by this place. Had we known this was a kosher joint, we would have turned on our heels and left. The food was lame, veggie burger was delayed, and then they 'fessed up and said they didn't have ingredients made. Service was weird, clientele is weird and the bill was incorrect. They fixed that, so that part is fine. Avoid. That is all.

Went here reluctantly because of the reviews. However, 6 of us included were twin 4.5 year olds had pretty quick service and hot food Sliders and burgers were cooked just fine, as were the chicken fingers. No complaints here! The sweet potato fries specially good.

We decided to come here because it was close to where we needed be and we found mixed reviews. Took a chance. It did not pay off. The burgers were just ok and my cousin thought hers tasted weird. They were cooked properly though. The onion rings and fries were good but very oily. Since the place is kosher the milk shakes are non-dairy; very chocolatey but unusual flavor. Overall I give it a "meh"

I too just signed up for yelp just to give a bad review. I went here last night with some friends. They would not give us a reservation but told us we would only have to wait 15 minutes. When we got there, they still said 15 minutes. We were seated after almost 45 minutes. Then, we sat and waited for 10 minutes before we had to ask the waiter for menus and he acted surprised that we were even asking. The restaurant itself was freezing because there was no heat and people kept on walking in and out and holding the door open. Then, they told us it would take 20 minutes for fried chicken because it was all frozen. We wound up having to cancel that order after it didn't come 40 minutes later. We all ordered some appetizers and food. The waiter just started bringing things out at random times just as they were ready. So one person finished eating soup about 10 minutes before any of the other apps came out, and they he brought one person their main meal with appetizers. It just made no sense. Then the waiter brought all the other food out, some of which was salads. We didn't have any silverware so we had to ask for that as well. He said he couldn't give us any silverware because it was all still in the dishwasher. WTF? I've never heard that from a restaurant before EVER. After about 15 minutes of us all waiting for the dishwasher so we could all eat together, the waiter came over with plastic forks. Why could he not just bring those with the food at first and we had to sit there and wait for 15 minutes is beyond me. The waiter himself seemed extremely embarrassed at how things were functioning and I felt bad for him. I've had some bad experiences with the way things are run at restaurants but this was just ridiculous. They were also out of steak and some other things we tried to order. Also, they have the combo orders with soda but it is still weird that the burgers don't just automatically come with fries. Wouldn't recommend it. If you are running a restaurant, shouldn't you be able to make sure you have enough silverware so that during Sunday night dinnertime, you can run the dishwasher and still have forks for paying customers? That was just strange. We basically had to ask for everything that a normal restaurant would just know to do automatically.

If you're on the UWS looking for a good kosher burger this is the place to go! The onion rings and French fries were also very good. Our food was brought out in a very reasonable time.

Slow service, improperly cooked burgers, inattentive staff, dirty tables Went there for a quick bite pretty late into the evening, so it wasn't packed at all, but was still sitting about 20 minutes before my food came, and the burger wasn't very hot and still pretty pink inside. I hope I don't get food poisoning. Also for a burger joint they have very few burger options.

I walked in to this place hoping to get a burger. I stood at the front, waiting for someone to seat me. About 6 tables were occupied with dinner guests, but no waiters / staff in sight. After standing at the front for two minutes not seeing anyone, I walked out. I never got a chance to assess the food because I couldn't even get seated. #Fail

It has been a while since I was at Gotham Burger. This time I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and my friend got the fried chicken. My sandwich was great - I really loved the sauce and the moistness of the chicken. The fried chicken stole the show though. My friend who does not keep kosher said it was way better than the non kosher fried chicken she has had! We had a great server, and our food came out promptly. I had heard that the service at Gotham Burger has really improved lately so I wanted to stop by. I am really happy I did. I will be back!

I love burgers. A good burger is as American as blue jeans and apple pie. Needless to say, I was extremely excited when I walked by Gotham Burger Co weeks ago and saw that they were moving into the UWS neighborhood. I decided to try it out last night but it was packed and I didn't feel like waiting for a table. That's ok. I'm glad they're doing well. So I went back for a late lunch today to see what it was all about. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed. The burger itself is fine. A single patty Gotham burger with all the trimmings runs around $9.50. You're looking at $15 for a double patty. But I'm not looking for ok. I'm looking for outstanding. I'm a burger purist. When I see Gotham Burger Co. on the signage, I expect to have a variety of different burger options to choose from. So you will understand my disappointment when I saw only four choices. The aforementioned Gotham Burger, a turkey burger, a vegetarian burger, and a portabello mushroom burger. That's it. The rest of the menu is filled with options that just seems out of place. Hot dogs? Chicken fingers? Chicken Schnitzel? And Thai Beef Salad?!!! Who goes to a burger place for Thai beef salad?! Come on man.... The staff was attentive. And they got major bonus points for having the Brazil v. Mexico soccer game on one of the four flat screen HD TVs in the restaurant. My waiter Ivan was cool and I enjoyed chatting with him about soccer. There is a small bar at the front of the restaurant and the decor is fairly minimalist (at least for now). At the end of the day, Gotham is a nice addition to the UWS dining scene. However, I just wish they would focus more on burgers. Is that so much to ask?

My review is of Gotham Burger during the first week or so it was first opened. I wanted it to be good, because I live close by and was excited to have a good burger place nearby. It fell very short from good. Basics - for being a burger place, you should be at least good at cooking?.....burgers! (ordered medium rare, came out well done) - My girlfriend ordered a chicken ranch salad, it came out with no dressing. So we asked a waiter for some ranch. He looked at us confused and said they didn't have ranch dressing...hmmm? But isn't that what was on the menu? So she has a bland oil and vinegar chicken salad. For the price and experience I wouldnt suggest it. But who knows maybe its changed for the better. I'm just not willing to go and find out.

As a preface, I've dined at this restaurant several times and as a result I feel I have had enough experiences to post a meaningful review. Gotham Burger offers a decent-good selection of food. The menu includes items one would expect to find at a burger joint which is refreshing - in addition of course to the great bar selection. The menu is not overwhelming and one can easily decide what they would like to eat unlike other restaurants where you may find yourself sifting through ingredients of creatively named dishes. The menus themselves are seriously unimpressive though and have room for improvement. Multiple times the menus I've received were dirty and almost beaten looking. Its an easy/cheap area of improvement that I'm surprised management hasn't taken care of, especially since its one of the first deliverables the restaurant presents to customers. The appetizers at Gotham are their strong point. Gotham's appetizers are excellent and having tried every one on the menu, I can almost guarantee you will enjoy them. The appetizers portions are generous, a huge plus given the price points of NYC, and all around very tasty. I've actually gone in and ordered just the appetizers as my meal. I recommend Gotham Wings and their sliders. The burgers are solid though not incredible. The buns are a little intrusive and the meat is cooked well but the sauces are nothing to write home about. In my experience sauces drives the flavor of the burger. Gotham offers a vegan and turkey option for those healthier eaters which are actually my favorite burgers there. The vegan burger especially, is often cooked crispy with a softer inside, highly recommended. With all that said, my main issue with my experiences at Gotham is their service. The service they provide is dreadful. To be clear, the fault doesn't lie with the waiter's/waitresses' but with management. Gotham seems to be severely understaffed and this increases food wait time, reduces the availability of the waiter for additional requests and increases wait time for the check. Now, when I dine at Gotham, I tend to get additional napkins myself and I get my own check because I have 0 patience for my waiter who is generally managing at least half, if not more than half, of the other tables at the restaurant. I don't know how many chefs are in the kitchen but based on what I've seen of the waiting service, I would speculate they may be understaffed their as well. An improvement in service would significantly improve the dining experience at Gotham. Overall I gave the restaurant 2 stars because of their lack of service hurts my experience so significantly. If service is improved, this restaurant would easily jump to a 4 and I could see myself going back much more frequently.

My husband and I are students, and we were very disappointed when we ate here. For an appetizer, we had chicken fingers. Eight dollars. Three chicken strips. It was outrageous. I called over the waitress who was totally unfazed and told me that yes, this is what they have, and for $15 you can have six strips of chicken. The chicken was good, but even with New York prices, this was crazy. Then I had a burger, which was fine, and my husband had a grilled chicken sandwich. They were both fine, not great or bad. But we ordered onion rings as a side, and they were pathetic! Literally dripping in grease and they weren't battered! Literally a few bread crumbs were stuck to them and that was all. I was disappointed. Our bill came to around $50 and it wasn't nearly worth it. We left there with a bad feeling.

Have eaten at and ordered delivery from Gotham Burger multiple times and have yet to have a negative experience of any kind. Came in with a bunch of buddies late in the evening and the service was great, the waiters were friendly and the experience was excellent. Giving it four stars because the burgers are not of elite, high-end caliber, but are still very delicious.

To give context, this is my first review ever. I was so unimpressed with this restaurant that I actually signed up for an account on Yelp, just to write a negative review. I wanted to like this place and hope that the owner reads this and tries to improve. I'm not simply here to bash the place. Pros: Spacious, well-lit, not too noisy, pleasant waitresses. Cons: -The floor near the back of the restaurant is so unbelievably dirty, it's shocking. It is covered in a thin layer of kitchen grease and is slippery and foul smelling. -The bathrooms were out of soap. -The beer they served me was warm and flat, clearly from an old keg with a bad system. They told me it was a brand new keg (I tended bar for 3 years and KNOW that it was not from a new keg). I returned it and, to their credit, they did not charge me. -The menus are filthy. covered in old grease and sauce. They put them down on our clean appetizer plates. Very gross. -Waitress, though nice and polite, spilled water while pouring 3 separate times. -3 of our 4 entrees were brought out at once and the 3rd came out almost 5 minutes (real time) later. -At the waitress' recommendation I ordered the steak sandwich. She told me how thick and juicy it was and that I'd love it. It was a very small sandwich with relatively dry meat on an unexciting roll sitting in a bowl of grease. Not inedible, but pretty disappointing for the "best thing on the menu." Not to mention it was $15.50 and came with no sides and was tiny. -The restaurant was not busy and we still had to ask for the check 3 times. There is another Kosher burger place on the same block which has significantly better food (the restaurant is just smaller and more cramped). I will keep going there instead of this place, and I'd recommend it to you readers as well. Unless Gotham Burger makes some serious changes, they will surely be out of business in less than a year.

We were very disappointed by this restaurant. If I could give it less than one star I would. The burgers were burnt, the waiter had an attitude, fries were cold, they could not understand a simple burger order, and it took them half an hour to bring our desert. All we were looking for was a nice local burger and this place is not it. If burgers are in your name you should at least have good ones. *also remember the restaurant is kosher and you will not be able to order a cheese burger

on a Sunday afternoon it was nice to have the TVs to watch football but the service was miserable. it took them 20 min to come out to tell us they didn't have something we had ordered. Then all the hot food came out but not the 2 salads. the last salad was served as the rest of us were finishing up. I'd have to think seriously about going back.

I really hate giving bad feedback to restaurants but here it goes... This place was absolutely one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The only plus was that it was one of the only kosher places open late. I am giving this two stars because their chicken fingers were actually really really yummy, one of the best I've ever had. Otherwise, one star. Unfortunately for them, this place is called gotham BURGER not gotham chicken fingers. I would hope that a place who claims their specialty is"burgers" would know how to cook a nice burger. How hard could it be? My friends and I each got the Gotham Burger meal. It was literally INEDIBLE. We barely touched our burgers because the meat was so tuff and so difficult to swallow. Then comes the service. HORRIBLE. The waitress came to our table once, to give us the food and thats it. Finally when we were ready to get outta there after the worst meal ever, it takes her another 30 minutes to bring us the check. If I didn't get up myself to personally hand her my credit card gd knows when she would've came to our table. I really wanted to like this place, but I will never ever go back :(

Worst order ever! we ordered food and they charged us more than it says on the website. We called and the manager was 'busy' so we talked to the person who lied to us on the phone earlier. He said that the prices online are wrong so that's why you paid more. In addition the burger was over cooked, the "over easy egg" that was promised arrived fried. When we complained the guy on the phone said that they cannot make the egg in a certain way ( so why didn't you say it when we ordered?) We didn't receive the sauces that we asked for. It costs nothing to squirt sauce in a cup. I will not back again, and will not tell any body that I know that I recommend this place. I give 1 star just to show that it's so bad if I could give a negative star I would. It's a shame how far this burger place has fallen.

You don't know how excited I was to hear that there was a Kosher Sports Bar in NYC, I finally have a place where I can go to watch sports, drink beer, and eat food at the same time. Once I got there I knew it was too good to be true and I said "what the hell, lets try it". The bar was basically a small Kosher restaurant with a lot of TV's in the back room, that was pretty cramped. But this doesn't make it a sports bar, it's just a restaurant with TV's playing sports. I believe the service was great because of the waiter I had, other posts say the service wasn't so good, so I guess I was lucky. I gotta say, the food was great and the price was fair for Manhattan restaurant. Gotham Burger isn't an awful place to eat, I gave it a 2-star rating because of false advertisement.

I've given this burger joint many chances but no more Patty had one freaking pickle they didn't even give me sauce I had massive stomachaches after the food just isn't as good as it used to be. Avoid this place at all costs

It is really not that bad. This is a fast food restaurant that has waiters, which is why the service is poor. As for the food, i got the double burger,.i made the mistake in telling them i want it medium well, i should have said well done. I thought well done would be burnt... Medium well is a lil undercooked..the fries were good, better than Amsterdam burgers...the food is average...nothing special...

The food is fine certainly not fantastic but the service was AWFUL. I was there for a late lunch on a Sunday with a group of 8 people. I was starving and would have loved a basket of bread or something to have been served but they don't provide anything. I tried to order a Veggie Burger but they were out. Our food did not arrive all at once. Three of the salads arrived first. We waited for them to bring more food out for a few minutes but some of us were starving and now we had food sitting in front of us so we started. When the last two salads arrived we realized that the Caesar salad had been given to the person who ordered the Gotham Salad but we had already started eating it so we couldn't switch. They took away the Gotham salad and brought another Caesar and offered us a free non alcoholic drink. Still none of the hot food had arrived and at this point the salad people were well into their meals. The portobello mushroom burger and the steak sandwich arrived but the fried chicken did not. It was explained to us that the fried chicken is cooked in a pressure cooker and takes a certain amount of time. We asked why they would bring the other food so early knowing that but they just said they would bring it as soon as it was ready. The fried chicken finally arrived by this time half the people were done eating. It had been ordered with mashed potato but they screwed up again and brought French fries. The kicker is after all of this because we were a party of 8 they included full gratuity automatically in our bill. If I could give this place zero stars I would.

I've been here twice, once today and once a year ago, and the experiences were similar: underwhelming food made up for by free stuff. The first time I didn't think to post a review even though I hated the food because I ordered soup and I don't think a burger place should be judged by its soup. That was the only time I have ever complained about food to a waiter and they comped it. This time, though, I actually ordered a burger and it was only okay - not what I'd hope for when it's what the whole place is built around. The service wasn't very impressive and I hated that the food came in a sort of hole-y bowl with just a napkin in it since that meant I couldn't use a knife to cut anything without poking through, but on the bright side we did get a free dessert and side.

I am so surprised that this place only has 2 stars! Wandered in there today with a party of 6 including two children ages 5 & 6 and we could not have been more pleased. Didn't even know it was kosher. So friendly and the food was so fresh and delicious. The veggie burger was out of this world. Will definitely be back!

I was driving out of the city and there was a 2 hour backup to the GW bridge so I decided to wait it out and have dinner in the city. I have not heard good things about the Gotham Burger in Teaneck so I was a little hesitant but really in the mood for a good burger so I thought I would give it a shot. The hostess was attentive and the service was wonderful. It was a very crowded dinner service so it was noisy and crowded but the service was very good. As I said I did not hear great things about the quality of the food at another of their locations but I was very pleasantly surprised by the food. I had the special of a burger, soft drink and fries. I could not figure out the fries thinking they were spicy fries but when I asked the waiter he said they were sweet potato fries, double fried! I could have done without the double fried and I wish this would have been described on the menu. All in all the quantities were generous and the food very good. I will definitely return.

Our waitress was nice but that is the only positive thing I can say about this place. The food took forever and when it finally arrived, it was terrible! The burger was rubbery and burnt. Another diner's turkey burger was also burnt. Our table was too small for our party and everything took forever. Will definitely not be returning. Avoid this place!

I live very close and was excited to find a good burger place. I was wildly disappointed. Honestly, my burger wasn't too bad, but the service was terrible and they didn't get either of our orders right. My friend didn't even finish hers and left hungry and $15 poorer. When I ordered, I asked about the Gotham sauce. Our waitress informed me that it was mayonnaise-based and was encouraging me to try it to which I replied, "No thanks, I can't eat mayonnaise." So I ordered a burger with just lettuce and added guacamole. It arrived with everything on it (lettuce, tomato, pickle, and Gotham sauce everywhere.) I had to send it back, which I hate doing. The second burger came mayonnaise-free but still with everything else - except that guacamole I paid an extra $2 for. The waitress then brought me my guac on the side. I literally had to deconstruct and then reconstruct burger #2 in order to get what I wanted. My friend ordered medium and it came out well done. She picked at it for a while, then gave up. Then we were abandoned and sat for quite an extended period of time with empty drinks and plates waiting for an opportunity to ask for the check. We were eventually able to flag down a different waiter, but even that was obnoxiously difficult. When the check finally came, I was ready with my credit card to hand it over right away, but our waitress ran off without it anyway. Honestly, I wish I had had the balls to just leave without paying.

Oy the service... They have more employees than patrons and still can't manage the orders. It's actually amusing if you are not hungry.

While I did not actually get to eat at the restaurant and thus review the food, I want to comment on their service and expediency. I was in a rush and called in an order to pick up. They said that the order would be ready soon and I should come to the restaurant. Upon arriving I was told tht my order wasn't ready yet. I ended up waiting over 30 minutes and then the waiter tells me that due to a 'mistake' they had not ern started to make the food. The service was horrible, uninformative and there was zero appreciation for the customer. If you are looking for a better burger joint with excelent service there is another burger restaurant just down the block. Its not worth your time and effort to go to Gotham Burger.

This place was recently shut down by the health department....need u say more? Their employees are constantly standing in front smoking and yelling at one another, and there has been excessive trash on the sidewalk since they opened.

Service was slow. Avocado and grapefruit salad was dry. Buffalo wings came out cold and salty. French fries were cold. Chicken fingers was the best starters order and probably best meal besides the burger. Burger was tasty and warm, the bun was not heated. This place is not a hit, poorly managed.

My burger, fries and green beans were all served cold. The bun was so stale that I didn't even try to eat it. Staff attitude was so poor, there was no need to complain-thery would not have cared. I paid and left mostly uneaten food should have checked Yelp first- enough said.

I had been skeptical about dinning at this place but one of the few places my dear friend Chai can go and eat kosher meal, so i have been there several times. On 6/31 We decided to go and i am not jewish but this place was far from kosher. table sticky and full of sauce plates chipped forks and knives dirty. cracked water glass. Get up from table and proceed to speak to waitress and just was ignored. go to the back and to my surprise see the kitchen in such an organized and messy state i thought nyc inspectors would have a field day. go back sit. order a gotham burger and fries chai orders the chicken fingers and oinion rings. 38 mns pass and nothing. finally i receive my raw not medium well burger all messy and falling off bun just very unapealing chai's chicken fingers burnt to the point almost inedible. looking for a manager and no one to be found. this place is absolutely not organized. staff oblivious to whats going on table next to me complaining about wrong orders. last time we had a better experience and was acknowledged by the heavy set manager who made sure our order was taken properly and greeted and sat us . this time around we were treated like step children! we both agreed not to step foot back there. do not reccomend anyone wasting there time. sorry gotham. two thumbs. DOWN !

I took my grandma there because we're kosher. What an awful experience. The burger was dry, the steak sandwich, which was recommended by the waitress, was tasteless and dry (I ordered it rare and it came out well done), the salad so bland. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

The beef spare ribs were marred by over oily onion rings chicken tenders and soggy cold french fries that according to the menu are cooked to perfection were far from. The staff also needs training and to learn the menu simple questions shouldnt be a run around experience to get a simple answer. The further more bad decor wasnt cleaned and had crumbs and sauces all over the place. Im giving them 2 generous stars for potential if they can even pass a health inspection with all the dirt!!!

I left Gotham Burger last night with a yummy burger and fries in my tummy and a great night with my friends which is a win all around in my book. There were a couple of service related issues that could be solved with some very basic service training on the management side, but all the staff that approached our table were super nice and accommodating. I had a burger that was actually cooked medium like I asked, which is always a gamble for some reason, and it was huge and yummy. For a kosher burger and for the rest of the food my friends ordered I thought the portions were great and all the sauces that came with them were very flavorful. Then after our meal came the server checked on us to see if everything was okay, it was, and then we were abandoned for quite a while. My friends ordered some stuff to go which complicated things a little, and I was impressed that the chef came over to make sure we were happy with our meal. I would definitely return, I am happy to support new kosher restaurants in the city that I don't have to take a loan out for, and the food hit the spot.

I had called the day before (Xmass eve) to make a reservation for the 10 of us. When we got their on Christmas, they didn't have our reservation. However, the host/manager couldn't have been nicer. While the place was packed, we only had a wait for a short time. The burgers were quite good and the fries were REALLY tasty. The bill came -- and it was for less than we expected because everything is reasonably priced for a kosher restaurant. For a simple dinner of solid comfort food, you can't go wrong with this place. Good stuff.

Called in mid afternoon to place an order that we'd pick up at 6:30p. My husband got there and they did not have the order. So he ordered and waited and waited. Do NOT order for pick up. Do NOT order a chili dog. They are not smart enough to put the chili in a separate container and the bread is soggy by the time it gets home. Hamburgers were rare- hardly cooked. Marinated mushrooms on burger could be counted- so few. Total ripoff. Do not open if you are not ready. Do not take orders if you cannot send them to the kitchen. TERRIBLE.

Mediocre at best. Don't get confused by the fact that it's busy. They don't seem to have the professionalism to give attention to detail, not even basic service. Portions are cheap and food was just bad! DIdn't strike me as a clean place either.... Unfortunately

I went Xmas eve with my wife and 2 young children for an early dinner. I wanted to go to ABC down the block but my wife wanted more of a selection that Gotham offered. Well when we got there, there were two other tables eating. We sat down and the waitress didn't write down our order. I knew this would be trouble. My soup never came. Then my wife ordered the Cobb salad without onions and a steak on top. Well. They omitted everything but the onions. Their remedy. To handpick the onions out. Then we had to request the peppers and the craisins on the side. The order the food came out was all over the place and staggered. My wife had her dinner salad when we had nothing. Then my sons hot dog came. Then my chili. Then the burger then the chicken fingers (which happened to be good). The wait staff messed up half the order. Didn't check on us and were fraternizing like they were at a party. The dessert also did not come timely but we were served with plenty of excuses as to why certain things were messed up (onions sound like Craisins, the oil isn't hot) the food was decent. But the dining experience was not. I will give them another shot but if they don't cleanup their act, they won't make it. On the positive side as the meal went on the place began to fill up. The owner should whip his servers into shape.

Ordered over 100$ worth of take out. It took them exactly 2 hours and 20 minutes for our food to get to us. Over the phone while ordering they were very rude and kept telling me to wait and putting me on hold. Took me 10 minutes to order food. They charged me 23$ for a salad that was suppose to have avocados and chicken. There was no chicken or avocados, but on the receipt they charged me. Food was ok. Pretty soggy since they took over 2 hours to get here. Only pro is it's Kosher...
