A good place for lunch in Port Washington, they have specials that rotate from time to time.

I've only ever been here for breakfast. Sometimes take out, sometimes in house. The location is great for the morning if you were taking the train. I would often give myself an extra 20 min when I was commuting and grab an omelette before getting on the train. The food has always been good. Eggs are always cooked wonderfully. Hash browns are delicious. I don't find the servers to be very warm. They aren't unpleasant, they are clearly just doing their job. This place has been around forever, I think that it gets overshadowed by the port diner. However it definitely is an adequate choice for your breakfast desires.

I stopped in here for a breakfast sandwich before catching a train back to the city. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich with a slice of tomato - which to my surprise turned out to be $7.50. They charge 4.95 for one egg - tomato was 75 cents and the rest was for the second egg... I expressed concern that the price is high for a breakfast sandwich and was told that customers tell them it's too low and they should raise prices -- breakfast sandwiches in the city don't even cost this much. Net result was an mediocre sandwich for $6.75 (I cancelled the tomato...) They also forgot the ketchup. Don't think I'll be back for a breakfast sandwich here.

If I could go lower in stars I would. Nothing I ordered was right and the manager was very rude when I called. The bread of my sandwich was moldy and the lettuce was brown. The fries tasted like metal and the potatoes were way undercooked. The people aren't friendly at all either. I'm never going back and don't recommend anyone eat here.

I really liked this diner, and I like this almost as much as the Port Washington Diner. This place is located on a side street, but it gets pretty crowded. The menu is quite inexpensive and portions are pretty big. It has a typical diner atmosphere and the service was quick. The food came out very quick and was served piping hot. I had a Belgian waffle with eggs, which was great. The waffle was fluffy, although a bit bland, and the eggs were perfect. The corned beef hash was wonderful, salty, cooked well, and a lot of food. The pancakes weren't my favorite, but they were quite large. A quick, inexpensive, yummy breakfast for us, and I would love to try their lunch options.

We make it a point to come here every single time we're visiting our brother's family in Port Washington. We've gotten to the point where we're friendly with the owners, and what friendly people they are! They are very accommodating to our large family (3 children under 3), and their menu is both delicious and extensive. More than anything, though, I'd have to comment on their location. Right across the train station couldn't be much better. I'd suggest stopping in for a quick coffee or a big breakfast before taking the train into the city. Start your day off the right way.

The first time that I tried this place was because I was hopping on a morning train from my sister's house and it was just right there. Let me tell you... BEST choice I could have made. Now I come here with my sister at LEAST once a week. The menu has a little bit of everything, so no matter what you're craving... They have it covered. This place is so cozy and pleasant... Such a great energy. Usually I get breakfast at diners but Haven Diner has me breaking out of my shell!! Phenomenal service, yummy food... Nothing can beat this diner!!!!

The breakfast is good and very cheap but I would not recommend it for any other meal.

Since I work in the area, I have been to almost every restaurant on or off Main street for about a mile or two away from Pt. Washington Blvd. This place is the worst. I hate writing such an awful review, b/c the staff was great and friendly. But I go to diners for quality comfort food. It was not to be had. It was abysmal, unfortunately.

So many meals I regret eating here. They're pretty friendly though and I ate at Haven before I really knew what food was supposed to taste like. If you are really stuck here to eat food I recommend the grilled cheese with french fries.

I was at Haven Diner on Sunday morning for brunch and the best thing about it, by far, was the earnest young man who was our waiter. He seemed pretty new to the job, but he tried so hard to make everything perfect and even made some good jokes when he accidentally brought the wrong thing to the table. Outside of the wait staff, the overall experience at Haven Diner is okay. I agree with Pete J. that it's in a great location - easy to meet up with people or grab a bite before you grab the train. However, the food was just so-so. I had an omelet and found some egg shell in one of the bites. That's not the worst thing that could have been in the eggs, but it was enough to stop me from eating the whole thing. The home fries were okay and the toast was, well, toast. The coffee was fine. My husband and father-in-law both had turkey bacon with their meals which was actually pretty good, and apparently it's hard to find turkey bacon in the Port, so that's a bonus! Overall, I'd go back to Haven Diner, but I might choose from some of the other local joints ahead of this one.

I don't know what it is about diners in Long Island, but I've never really been to a great one. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that the menus are always so deep -- breakfast, lunch & dinner all day, whenever you want it -- that they can't really ever MASTER one kind of food. Nevertheless, this diner is cozy, & right across the street from the train station. A good place to meet up with a friend before heading into the city for a night on the town. Unfortunately, though, they're not open late. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me, considering that trains full of drunk college kids are pulling into the station at all hours during holidays. They're also quite a bit overpriced (but what isn't in this town?).
