OMG!! The Cuban sandwich is the best!! $3.50 is a deal of a lifetime too! I passed through the heights last nite and grabbed 2 of them to go and some 3 milk cake.I live in south jersey and whenever I come to manhattan, I swing by and get 2 sandwichs to bring home.I grew up in philly home of the cheese steak and this is way way better then a philly cheese steak! The bread pudding and corn bread pudding is great too!! I think it's open 24/7 now too!!!

I've never physically been to this bakery, I had there cake at a baby shower. The cake was hands down the best Dominican Cake, I've ever had. PS I was raised on Dominican Cake, hence the fact that I am Dominican... So that being said, I know what good Dominican cake should taste like!!! I will keep them in mind for future events/orders !!

The bake goods and cakes are one of a kind delicious, tasty, and you will be coming back for every occasion. The cakes are made from scratch and use natural ingredients, The sandwiches are also delicious. They're open 24hours which is very convenient. Tres leches cake is to die for.

I have heard good things about it ...but I order a cake for my sons birthday and they gave me the wrong cake from the picture and also they put purple on the cake instead of the blue , they didn't even want to fix it or exchanged it .

I grew up in Washington Heights and one thing I can guarantee you is... I not only know what excellent Dominican cake taste like, but I can tell you what authentic Dominican cake tastes like. With all of the Dominican bakeries and restaurants in the neighborhood, I have been very disappointed throughout the years to have come across countless restaurants and bakeries in Washington Heights who advertise on their menu or storefronts that they serve Dominican cake.... Sadly just far from the truth. I dropped by this place today and asked the lady behind the counter if their sliced cake is real authentic Dominican cake. I was told yes. Mind you I really stressed this question and I was reassured it was. Bull$h@t. The moment I arrived home, and opened up the plastic container I immediately smelled the slice and guess what... It's just the same old $hit they serve in the majority of bakeries and restaurants in the neighborhood. Am I mad? Of course I am... And you know what, everyone out there who is a die hard fan of AUTHENTIC Dominican cake can feel my pain! The idiot behind the counter nose must be all stuffed up because she handles the pastries on a daily basis, and she should know not only what she is serving, but what is being baked on premise. You can smell Dominican cake from a mile away. Just because the bakers here are Dominican does not mean this slice of agony is the real thing! As for the cake? Once you have a bad aftertaste on your tongue after having just a spoon of it, all I can say is straight Dominican American cake gone bad!! Smdh for insulting all the master bakers out there who know how to bake a real Dominican cake! One star for at least giving me the correct change back!

After running some errands in the neighborhood, I stumbled into here looking for a birthday cake for my colleague. Quickly reading the reviews on yelp and getting a general consensus from the ladies behind the counter that tres leche cake was the way to go, I decided to give it a try. OMG。。。they were ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! Woooo..that is the BEST tres leche cake I have ever had in my life. All my co-workers that were able to indulge in the tres leche cake were asking for seconds and writing down the address to this place. El Panadero, you have gained many customers. I will be back soon to try your other goodies.

I think I love this place as much for the sweet girl behind the counter as the delicious tres leche. $4 got me out the door with a strong cup of coffee (essentially espresso, which is the way the good lord intended it to be) and a huge slice of cake. I ate half for dinner and half for breakfast, super moist and flavorful. If I lived in this neighborhood I'd set up partial residency at this joint.

Always love passing by for a quick sandwich, it's cheap and filling for $3.50 for a ham and cheese with either chicken or pork is a hell of a deal compared to $5+ that deli charges for that. Lunch breaks are always good here looking forward for the next visit

This bakery is awesome not only do they make really good pastries but their fresh bread is delish. So far I've costumed order 2 cakes for my daughter 1st and this time her 2nd birthday and they have executed well. I gave them a photograph of something similar I wanted with my details and I was very pleased. The dulce the leche cake has been my favorite. The only thing suggestion I would make to this bakery is to increase their filling in the cakes, personal I feel the layer is too thin but other than that excellent choice in bakery if your planning to celebrate any occasion.

I've tried many tres Leches cakes in my lifetime and this is the best I've ever tasted! I almost had an accident while trying to get in bites while driving. It's so creamy and perfect, I used the small left over condensed milk to put in my coffee.

I don't speak any Spanish, so ordering was difficult. And once I got my tres leches and walked it literally next door to my apartment, it seemed like all three leches had leaked out of the plastic box and all over the bag - seriously, big mess. But oh my god it is goooooooood! I can't wait to go back and try more things.

Bakery El Panadero is a small bakery (I guess Dominican??) located in Washington Heights a few blocks away from the George Washington Bridge. I come her for a great cup of spanish coffee....cafe con leche. They have a lot of sweets.....cakes, muffins etc., but I'm not into the sweets much. The empanadas and sweet bread sandwiches (no idea what they are called in Spanish) are very good and always fresh. The ladies behind the counter are great. They are very friendly and joke around quite a bit. There is usually a line but they keep it moving along.

I used to enjoy coming here to get natural juices and food to go, but I experienced the worst customer service ever today. The server was rude and this isn't the first time she has seen me or my partner. He stood behind when I asked her for something and she responded immediately with a no and a frown. I asked for something else and she questioned him and said she's with you and if he's paying. She took her time and when she brought my order she threw it on the counter and said here. Walked away to speak to another co worker and threw the straw afterwards and said there. I responded with a wow and another customer said how nice. I said what an animal and walked out.. I don't think I will support this business after that treatment. I will comment and place review on all sites and hope they improve their service to ALL customers regardless of color, background and especially gender as many business in the Washington heights are have a problem serving females.

I love the smell of bakeries. But I especially love the smell of Dominican bakeries. No offense to other purveyors of delicious pastries but there's something special about being able to walk into a bakery, get a ham & cheese sandwich on freshly baked bread for $2.50 and wash it down with a Country Club soda. Aaaaah tastes like an afterschool when I was in JHS. I'm not much for sweets, for whatever reason. But judging by the amount of people buying up their cakes and cookies and stuff... I'd say they have that department covered as well.
