I've come here about 3 times since 2008. I can say with pretty strong certainty it's a nice place that offers good italian food. First the location is off of Mulberry Street, which I like because it does escape the notice of some tourists. The place has been in business forever, which is a testament to both the neighborhood and the location. The price is a bit high for what you're getting...but I understand the location isn't cheap so the prices reflect the Manhattan location. The portion is perfect if not slightly on the extra side which I like. Also their garlic Bread is really good! To sum it all up, I'm a Fan and I hope the place is in business for another 100 years!

I'm an Italian lover. love Italian food. Could eat Italian and/or pasta dishes every day for the rest of my life and die a happy gal. Trust me, I'm not pasta snob either. I eat edible home cooked pasta and jarred sauce and feel happy just to have the pasta. I expect a little bit more....enjoyment when I pay for it outside. But while the rigatoni vodka sauce dish was good, it was very average in terms of how memorable it was. As in, would I keep coming back to eat it at this particular restaurant? No, not at all. It had flavor and not doused in salt, so that was a plus. The waiter service was good, water glasses were always filled, and I didn't feel as if we had to cause a commotion in order to get anyone's attention. But the whole experience was mediocre. "Meh" and a shrug, if you will There are numerous other high quality Italian restaurants in other boroughs, where their sauce is unique and authentic, and noodles are from scratch. These places also aren't super trendy or costly, but family owned and been around for years. I did only try one dish, no others, and no desserts, but I guess from that one dish alone, I wasn't very inclined to go back. Maybe if I lived more local....maaayyybeee. A local diner to me makes a pretty good Penna vodka, has a nice creamy flavor and texture, and they weren't stingy with the sauce, which I always appreciate since I'm a huge sauce lover as well. So...in short, I can get good pasta almost anywhere around me. I won't need to come here.

I've passed this place several times and today I decided to stop in for some lunch. Overall, I was disappointed. The place was big but no one was in there. I tried the veal parmigiana and it was cooked way too much. In some spots it was hard and in others, it was very gummy. I also ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which came out in a puddle of oil.

I'll make this not too lengthy because I've only been here once on a spontaneous Little Italy food hunt. My friend and I were looking for a decent little Italian restaurant where the price wasn't too pricey and the atmosphere wasn't too fancy. We looked for about three blocks and we were heckled by almost every restaurant to take a table. We stumbled across this place and stuck with it! A waiter wasn't heckling us to sway our decision. In fact, the person who showed us to our table was wearing a NY Giants shirt. Our waiter was nice but sometimes a little slow. Since it was a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was mostly empty, I can't rate the noise level. The food was actually pretty good (I'd love to indulge myself in describing the food but it will just make me hungry). The atmosphere was laid back, which was what my friend and I were looking for! My friend and I were satisfied with our experience here. The service was okay, the food was good, the atmosphere was laid back and the price wasn't too bad either! I give this restaurant one thumb up accompanied with a mouth full of spaghetti !

My friends & I decided on an Italian spot, initially we wanted pizza but a girlfriend that didn't even come last night, wanted Italian but not pizza and so we got stuck with The Original Vincent's. Utterly disappointed, by yesterday's food quality. It was a party of 6 and my Cheese Ravioli wasn't bad but it was a little overwhelming for me. My friend didn't like the lobster ravioli, he had to eat it with the bread that was provided. The iced tea I had and that the bf had also, didn't taste much like iced tea and I've surely had better iced tea. It was my third time last night but I was just disappointed. I wish I made a better choice. I don't think I'll be coming back for another few months. *Word Of Advice* - Don't try the fried calamari, it didnt look aesthetically beautiful nor did it taste great either.

The food is not the best. The pasta is kinda dry and the chicken is greasy, but that's really not the point. The amazing thing about this restaurant is the sauce. I always order the hotter variety and I can assure you it's quite hot! My friend and I were drinking tons of water and it took us quite a while to finish our meal. This sauce is really something not to be missed. Both times I went I had the chicken parmesan, which granted is not the most Italian of dishes, but it goes great with the aforementioned sauce and based on trying my friends' orders is one of the better things on the menu. My friend had the shrimp balls, which were horrible (the name should be warning enough). They were a weird bread dumpling with strange spices that did not go well together. The bread served with the meal was also subpar as it had been reheated from being frozen and so had inconsistent temperature. The atmosphere is awesome. There are tons of Italians and eating here so it feels very authentic and the decor is really classic.

Been going to Vincent's for 50 years. I was there on Tuesday to see it has become a Jiffy Lube. The menu for lunch is missing the house specialties. If you want calamari or scungilli, you need to order the dinner. All my years I had a side of sauce in a small dish, they now charge for it. 2 bucks for about ten tablespoons . My son order from the lunch menu and they said because I ordered the Calamari from the dinner menu, they gave him a dinner portion of Linguini with clams. They removed baked clams and clams oreganoto from the whole menu. With all the charges and routing to a dinner menu, the meal came to 94 bucks for four lunches/dinner. We had no appetizers and drank tap water. I hope this rating costs them a few clients over the years, it's justified. They rip people off. Advice to business owner: If you are not making money, its not because you are undercharging. It is also not a good idea to gain income from charging too much, and altering menus that drive the past customers away. BYE BYE VINCENTS, YOUR OPEN TABLES TELLS ME I AM NOT ALONE. I wondered why they were empty when all the other restaurants were crowded. Now I know. They don't. Its because they chased the regulars away, while trying to pick the pockets of tourists.

I've been hearing good things about Vincent's for quite a while now but I never got a chance to check it out until recently. I was quite disappointed. I went to Vincent's on a Thursday night and boy that restaurant was nearly empty! When I saw that there were only 1-2 other tables of people, I became somewhat hesitant to eat there. But since my friend was starving, we stuck to it. Their menu was surprisingly small and the food were overpriced for what they had to offer -- small portions. I got the bruschetta (~ $7.95 for four pieces) and linguine with red clam sauce ( ~ $18.00) that came with 6-8 clams. For a restaurant that has been opened since 1904, I expected more from them. The butter and raw onion on the bruschetta were very overpowering, ruining the taste of the dish. The pasta... nothing special. The clams were fresh and tasty but I could've had something similar elsewhere for a much cheaper price. My honest opinion... Save some money and skip this restaurant.

This is my first Yelp review, and having grown up in the city, I've been to many, many Italian restaurants here, such as Il Corallo Trattoria and Carmine's. I have also been around Italy quite a few times. I can definitively say this place is one of the worst Italian restaurants I have ever been to. My spaghetti and meatballs had one meatball in it and the entire dish completely lacked flavor and salt. I barely ate any of it. Even when I was starving later and had nothing to eat and gave the leftovers a second chance, it was still disgusting. My mother also complained that her clam sauce pasta was at best mediocre. Don't come here.

Vincents: Italian American staple in NYC. There are plenty of better Italian restaurants in the city but the hot marinara sauce that they make is one of a kind. It's rich, pasty and HOT. You'll need bread and lots of water to cool your mouth. My uncle brings a couple orders of their calamari with spicy sauce to Christmas Eve every year and it's always a fan favorite. That's what you come here for. I'm sure their other items are ok but for the price, you'd rather go somewhere else. Come here for an order of calamad and a stuffed artichoke and venture elsewhere for your entree.

The waiter was from Italy, and he was the nicest old man I have ever met! The food was authentic and delicious. We were the only ones in the restaurant, which made the experience a bit more enjoyable. I would try the bruschetta- although it does have a lot of onions if you're not a fan.

I love this place! Its my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. It makes me sad how Little Italy has diminished, but happy Vincent's is still there keeping it alive. The sauce is to die for (I prefer the hot myself). Since I was a kid, my favorite thing in the world is spaghetti and meatballs so when I go there, its my treat to myself. Thank you for always making me feel welcome and having the best sauce in the city.

I took my dear friend to a birthday dinner at Vincent in Little Italy. It was four of us and we were very excited to enjoy our meal. I normally eat at the Vincent's in Garden City. Way better food than the little Italy one which really took me back. Well, I ordered a chicken Parmigiana and as I was eating I bit into a BONE !!!! Can you imagine a bone in chicken cutlets??? I told the waiter and all he said he would tell the chef. The manager never over to ask what happened. I was really surprised. Then I look at the bill when I got home they charged me for hot sauce and we didn't have hot sauce. Who charges for hot sauce. It left me a with a bad taste in my mouth. The portions are half the size they are in Garden City for the same price??? They will never see me again. There are plenty of other venues to patron right around the corner.

We went last night and I should have noticed the signs that I wasn't going to be impressed. The restaurant was half full at seven on a Friday... Service was horrible! An absolute joke! We had no choice but to holler every time a waiter came remotely close to get anything- including order food. Food took forever and wasn't even hot when it came. My dinner (lobster ravioli) had 5 ravioli for $19 which I wouldn't have minded if it was actually a good ravioli. The vodka sauce was good but if the pasta itself isn't its still a loss. My husbands dessert (chocolate mousse cake) was old and hard and filled with pudding not mousse.. Rip off.. You honestly couldn't pay me to go back.

Disappointing. I was drawn to this place because I wanted to support a fellow Sicilian. Unfortunately the true Sicilian cooking was sucked out of this place a long time ago. If you have to eat in Little Italy, find a better place, otherwise there are plenty of better Italian options in the city.

That ageless NY Italian that's always that classy move... Vincent's has been feeding the lower's hungry for over a century! I mean, 100 years... around here you find a spot that's decent go back the next night and it's a whole new gimmick. Well not at Vincents, no gimmicks, not trying to be what its not (well maybe during the height of tourist season... It's all about the effin dollas). Just that classic Italian American in the heart of Littaly. Price: WHOOAAAASSSS!!! Moderate priced... Most dishes will run ya in the upper teens. You won't be angry at your bill enough to wack the waiter. Figure around 30 Per for a plate and drink with a split app. Menu: Classic Italian American. Pasta dishes, meats breaded and fried and smothered in cheese and sauce.I don't know when they started the pizza game, but apparently they do that now too... Never has been that kind of spot. Atmosphere: Uber stereotypical. Pictures of the actors adorned with the chairman of the board on the PA... But in a classy kinda way. Close and intimate seating. Throwback plates, silverware, and glasses... Not retro for hipsters, just been there for that long. Service: Friendly service from what seems to be friendly wait staff. Some of these guys have been there since I was in middle school. Food comes in standard blocks not too fast, not too slow. Water glass stays full. Suggestions: You better like it saucy.... Because that's what its all about here. The house made sauce is absolutely amazing... sweet medium or hot, it's all good, but I hit the hot. Throws that nice twist on those classics. Parms are solid here. Scungili is pretty tasty and cooked well. A must do here is the Biscuits with sauce... off the meter!!! Don't do the Pizza... that's only been on the menu for 2 years, and not the previous 102, so stay classy with classics. If you want desert... go to Ferrara another block up on Grand... Not saying the desert is bad here, but if you're doing the Litaly thing, might as well go all out and get that on the classic too. High Point: Nice sit down at a solid spot... good for small groups or a cheesy date night. Once paid with my card, and never got charged for that meal!!! My all time high, and it was like an 80 dolla meal for two! Total victory on that one. Low Point: You ordered that pizza didn't you... Didn't wanna say it but, Told ya so. Also... you got the desert... it was decent but then you saw Ferrara around the corner.... Sucka! P.S. Buy a jar of sauce on your way out to hook your next homemade up!!!

Awesomesauce. No, really--awesome sauce* (sweet, medium, or hot). Unfortunately, the rest of the food is mediocre, and overpriced for such small portions. There are much better options in the area--keep walking toward Mulberry Street and stop in just about anywhere else. *Translation for those who speak Jersey: awesome gravy.

Vincent's...ah, dear Vincent. My favorite Italian restaurant in Manhattan. I've never had a bad dish here: shrimp balls, chicken marsala, white clam sauce pasta...excuse me while I wipe the drool off my chin. PS - get the iced tea. Tastes homemade & like the kind I had as a kid.

My boyfriend and I went here before seeing a concert. We both really loved it. The waiters were nice, attentive and friendly. We both loved what we ordered, I had rigatoni a la vodka and he had the chicken parm (at the waiter's recommendation). While there with him I had that magical far away I've just escaped the world by being in this place kind of a feeling. The cappuccino at the end of my meal was spectacular I will definitely visit again.

Vincent's has been around forever. They are most famous for their sauces and personally I love their hot sauce. It's perfectly spicy for people that like spicy food. The chicken cutlets and meatballs are great. The sauce does have a lot of oil, so if your on a diet might not be the perfect place for you.

Vincent's is my favorite restaurant in Little Italy. Period. I've tried others and they just don't do it for me. Maybe it's because I was spoiled by my Great-Grandmother from Italy. Grandma Sara made the best meatballs on this earth....but I digress. Vincent's is a whole new experience when it comes to the classic New York Italian restaurant. They have perfected a recipe for the perfect sauce in it's over 100 years of existence. Choose from Vincent's Sweet, Medium and Hot sauce. The sweet is dee-lish and the hot is painful...but absolutely amazing. There are several types of pasta from which to pick your favorite...then just say "Vincent's Sweet" or "Vincent's Hot" and you are on your way. Add a meatball for the full experience. I may need to caution you to stay away from anything too adventurous. What they do well, they do really well (Italian basics) but what they don't do well, they really don't do well. To me there is no other reason to go to Vincent's unless you are getting the Vincent's sauce...but if you are venturing out into some other territory here, proceed with caution. Don't get too fancy. Get yourself some house red wine to accompany the entree (which has the best value for the price at lunch) and you are set for a great meal. Any type of pasta that they offer is great...just pick a sauce and meat and you are set to go! Their service is sufficient and the food comes out EXTREMELY quick. I've never had a bad dining experience here...and I've been a lot. One of the best parts about the place is the collection of pictures that has covered the wall. Past celebrities and public figures who have dined at Vincent's have either left a headshot with a message or had their picture taken with a member of the staff. Love it. Desert is fine...but your time and money is better spent at Ferarra.

What Italians always so, "EEEYYY OOOHHHH IT'S THE SOAUCE!!! IF YOU GOT THE SOAUCE, BA-DA-BING!!! CAPISCE?!!?" :hand gestures: I absolutely love the soauce whether it's sweet, mild or spicy. Its what defines Vincents, with it even durian will taste better, (never tried it so don't take my word for it). You take anything they make and douse it with the soauce and voila! (Wait that's French) But my favorite about this place is the one Italian waiter I dubbed Smiley. Big guy, raspy Italian accent with one facial expression who can pass as a hitman.

I was visiting from out of town a couple years ago, and was walking through Little Italy one night with a friend and decided to stop here. I'm not native to New York, but I had a taste for Italian. The place looked quaint and nice. I walked in here thinking it'd be a nice relaxing place to enjoy a meal before we got back to the hotel. The older fellow with a European accent, who was our "waiter", was very rude to me for no reason. I asked about something on the menu and he'd give very sarcastic answers in a very sarcastic tone. He seemed upset that I was there. I asked if they had spaghetti, and he acted outraged that I would ask that. He exclaimed "NO! We only have Linguine!" First of all, sir -- it's an Italian restaurant. Asking about spaghetti served in an Italian restaurant is not exactly bizarre or unreasonable. He acted like I asked if they served Big Macs or sushi. He was rude & sarcastic the entire time. While I was eating I honestly could not wait until I left. I really don't know what his issue was. I don't know if he didn't like the combination of myself and the female friend I was with, or if he was some kind of racist, or what. I don't know if he had been working all night and was tired & agitated. Maybe he thought I didn't look like someone who could spend money there, or someone that wouldn't tip. I don't know. I just know he was rude towards me. I also got a sense of unfriendliness from a couple of busboys there who I thought were giving me stares. I don't know if the waiter mumbled something about me to them or what. I ordered the mild sauce, and noticed it was VERY spicy, and that's not their fault - we didn't know - but I'd hate to know what the "hot" sauce tasted like. In fact, I'm wondering if the "waiter" purposely told the cooks to put the spicy sauce on it even though I ordered mild -- I wouldn't put it past him -- he was that rude. I think I left a small tip out of disgust. Probably would not go there again the next time I'm in NYC.

Don't bother. Their mussels in red sauce were 10 formerly frozen steamers with spaghetti sauce. Pizza did not taste like fresh dough. How this place has survived for 100 years is beyond me. Should have known not to eat near a main drag of a tourist trap. When the bread they bring out blows, that's a good time to exit.

I stopped in for lunch on an October Saturday I was seated promptly inside. It's all traditional with pictures of famous guests on the walls. I ordered the veal parm from the daily lunch specials. It came with a nice little tossed salad, and the veal itself was crispy inside with a lovely covering of mozzarella. The side of pasta with marina was as advertised - I was asked how much heat I wanted, I said medium, and that's what I got. I was impressed with the service and the politeness of the wait staff. I'd return again!

Came out to NY in late Oct this year and I really wanted to hit Vincent's while I was there. Vincent's in Long Island, that is. Family took the Hubbs and me there just over a year ago and enjoyed the food and atmosphere very much. So much so that I vowed that everytime I was out here, I'd go. A visit to NY wouldn't be complete if I didnt eat at Vincent's. Well, this time, it was just a cousin and I that were visiting the Big Apple and time was running out and I still hadn't made it to Vincent's. We were going to dinner with family that were locals and since we were near Little Italy, we opted to eat at the original Vincent's. My cousin was in the mood for pizza but the menu at this location offered no pizza. I was actually surprised at how simple and limited the menu was here. It didn't offer the Lobster Kiss or Frutta Di Mare like the one in Long Island did. The saving grace here was that the red sauce was just as good as I remembered. We ordered calamari for our appetizer and it was served with the red sauce. OMG, it was soo good that we ran out of it before we finished the calamari and had to ask for more. I shared an order of sphagetti and meatballs with one relative while the other pair of relatives shared the eggplant parm. Both dishes were excellent and the service was friendly. While I enjoyed my meal at the Vincent's in Little Italy, I'd recommend the one out in Long Island (I Yelped that one also) just because the menu has more to offer (and you may also get live entertainment).

Certainly the worst Italian food I have ever eaten since opening a can of ravioli as a kid. How can this be for a place that's been there for over 100 years? How did all those celebs on the wall eat here without storming out? What happened? It appears that standards have dropped considerably as even the food pictured on their website bears little resemblance to what we were served. Caesar salad tasted like it was made with store bought dressing and croutons from a package. So called Buffalo mozzarella salad tasted like plastic cheese. No way on earth was this buffalo mozz. Tomato was tasteless and covered in dried herbs. Parmesan cheese on offer was the dried Kraft cheese style. What kind of Italian restaurant doesn't actually serve fresh Parmesan cheese? The bread tasted like it was from a grocery store. The linguini with clams was watery and flavourless. The famous sauce is sold in jars and it tasted that way here, like it came from a jar. Service was decent enough, but so overpriced. Even the glass of wine was served in a very tiny glass for the price. Truly appalling and shameful. Avoid like the plague.

This is the best pizza I've ever tasted in my life so far in America. Only the pizza I've eaten in Rome beats this. Just know, they actually only serve pizza during lunch time. First day we came it was too late and we returned the next day for their amazing pizza. As for that first night, I ended up eating their spaghetti. And... ZOMG!!! The sauce is soooooooooo good. I almost cried at its flavor. Definitely must eat place if you are in Little Italy.

EEK! METHINKS NOT!!! Is absolutely correct. I've dined up and down the two streets that are left of little Italy, Vincent's was (unfortunately) the place I visited last. We were with a family member from out of town who remembered the "delicious food" she experienced at Vincent's so we reluctantly went in (even though it was San Genarro's Feast and we could have gotten great food on the street) Atmosphere: dark Plates: greasy Bread: stale PIzza: I'd recommend DiGiorno frozen pizza over Vincent's. Waiter: Nice Now I am sure that 50 years ago Vincent's was a gem but if you can avoid this place DO IT. What I don't understand is the HUNDREDS of pictures from celebrities praising Vincent's. This leads me to two conclusions 1) He bought them in China Town and signed them himself 2) Maybe, just MAYBE Vincent's was good once upon a time, but my tasebuds leave this hard to believe. If we weren't with the family member I would have made a fuss, but we wanted to appease her and she was very satisfied - however, she also hasn't eaten in New York in years. And all us NEw Yorker's know that our taste buds are different than our of towners ha ha

This was ok, I wish I would have chosen a better place for pizza in Little Italy. The server was so sweet though, they always are nice in L. Italy. I wouldnt come back, if your in the area, I think you can find better pizza.

Let me just start by saying this is the BEST flippin' Italian food I have EVER had. I live in AZ and go East every year and we can not plan the trip until we have designated a date and time for Vincents. Then we walk around the corner to Ferrara's for dessert. But that's a whole other review. I get the eggplant parm, medium sauce. Too good for words. I have to be a pig and eat it all because I just can't leave all that deliciousness there. My boyfriend always gets the lasagna with the hot sauce. A bit too spicy for me, but he seems to dig it. Not sure what they put in their sauce, but there's magic in there. Good thing you can order it online. You should go there if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.

My family's been eating here for what seems like forever but I personally never ate in until recently. I never knew pasta sauce could be both so flavorful and spicy as hell! Not the best Italian I've ever had but the food comes quick (granted I was there at 3 in the afternoon) and you'll be full when all is said and done. Definitely worth checking out!

I love Vincent's! This is my fathers favorite place to visit when he comes to NY as he used to come here as a kid. He loves the HOT marinara sauce, that stuff can make you sweat! My favorite is something I order off the menu... Chicken Parmesan with the ALA VODKA SAUCE, it is AMAZING!!! Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the service needs some work, 10 minutes for a refill after trying my dads SUPER HOT sauce, come on now I almost had to jump over the bar to get a drink.

  • Michael S.

The MEDIUM and HOT marinara sauce is the best on the PLANET and their fried Calamari is to die for. I live in New Jersey and have been going there for over 30 years. Nowadays I usually go there just to get their Hot sauce to go, I purchase 12 quarts or so and when I get home I store them in the freezer in vacuum sealed freezer bags. The fried shrimp and mussels are excellent also but way too expensive for the small portions that they give you. The fried calamari is your best best as you get a nice size portion for the money.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the only restaurant in Little Italy. While it is not on the main drag of Mulberry St with the rest of the restaurants, that is not a bad thing. Being situated on the corner of Mott and Hester, a block to the west, has preserved its old world charm. You won't be accosted by a barker trying to draw you in, and you won't pay inflated prices for mediocre Italian food. What you will get is amazing food, great service, and an atmosphere perfect for dining alone or bringing a group of family, co-workers, visiting friends, etc. We recommend the linguini chicken parmigiana and the gnocchi, but no matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. And Vincent's sauces are worth the trip all by themselves. Be warned, though, the spicy sauce is VERY spicy. I like spicy food and the medium is my choice: very flavourful and with just enough of a kick.

Ok, I went here when my bf and I visited Little Italy in May. He's actually Italian himself, so he really dug it as well. :D Ah, right when you step in, you feel like you're a part of history, so many pictures of the celebrities that have visited this great place are displayed with honor like trophies. Such awesome was had. The staff was very nice, now, you're not gonna find an old Italian grandma there, or much Italian people per se, just really awesome wait staff. When I went it wasn't crowded, cuz well, in Little Italy you have peopel outside pretty much inviting you in, and this place is at the end, honestly I'm really glad the bf and I had a look around and foudn this place. The ambiance is classic, just a place to sit and eat. makes you feel like you're in a Mafia (sorry Italians) movie. The staff was very nice, and HELPFUL. OMG! I ordered their Cheese RAvioli with their famous sauce, I ordred the sauce mild, and it gave me a Mafia slap to the face! OH! SO DELICIOUS! the ravioli was cheesy and did the fun stretchy thing. My bf ordered the Calimari plate, so good! omg! very well done, and well breaded he had the spicy sauce, SOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME! The sauce honestly made everything so wonderful! no matter what you order THE SAUCE IS BOSS! Also, the Espresso shot was pretty good too. You want a taste of Classic New York. GO HERE! OMG! GO HERE! GO HERE! IT IS AWESOME! AGain, I came here as a tourist..so my opinion might be biased. SO PLEASE IF YOU ARE A TOURIST! GO HERE! IT WAS AWESOME! :D

Off the beaten path as far as Little Italy goes. THE SAUCE IS THE SUPERSTAR HERE! I went with the spicy... loved it...and then bought a jar to take home. Everything else is typical Little Italy fare... Celebrity Siting: Big Pussy, Vincent Pastore himself!!

absolutely touristy but so what? the purists don't like it but if you are ok with simple pasta and old fashioned red sauce this place will do., and it is all about the sauce. walk past all those faux itlaian places on mulberry street and order something with the hot sauce.

No good! I always eat here when I come for vacation so I have a good history with this place. However, this time the waiter added charges and when I went to the owner to complain, the waiter lied to the owner about the charges. I was incredibly disappointed and won't be eating there again. I was sad that my friends had joined me on my recommendation. The whole experience left a worst taste than my overdone chicken parm.

I don't think the Vincent's sweet sauce that everyone raves about, is thaaaaat good. but it did help the soggy calamari we ordered taste a bit better. I also got the lobster ravioli and it was blah. I hate to say it, Carrabba's Italian Grill makes some really damn good lobster ravioli. gawd I miss that place. AHH what is up with all the shitty italian restaurants in little italy? what a letdown.

The pizza tastes like microwave pizza. Great service when we were seated then we never saw out server again. Wait the extra 45 min and go a block down to Lombardi's. I can't really comment on the rest of the food, but if their pizza sucks I can't expect much more. Big disappointment since this was the first slice I had after arriving to NYC for the first time.

I used to be absolutely hooked on Vincents. I've been going there since the late 1980s - mostly for their shrimp balls and hot red sauce over linguini. I still drop in from time to time. BUT, at the risk of invoking mob wrath, I must concur with the reviews that say this place has slipped a bit. My main complaint: In less than 15 years, the prices have almost tripled. Part of the appeal of this place WAS the fact that it was a bargain. One could always run up a hefty bill if dinner included a quality bottle of wine (I splurged occasionally), but it was also possible to get a heaping portion of linguini with two colossal shrimp balls and a beer for around $10-$15. Sadly, that is no longer the case. I still DO love the shrimp balls which consist of ground shrimp exquisitely encased in a sort of crunchy shell (kind of like those Sicilian rice balls) swimming in their hot red sauce, which can be scorching (you can also get medium and sweet). I've never seen this menu offering or recipe anywhere else in NY or beyond. For me, it is the recommended "must sample" signature dish at this cusp of Chinatown/Little Italy touristy spot with sidewalk dining (If you want to see the impressive picture gallery of celebrities who've dined there, you'll have to go inside). I still like this place. But I don't love it like I once did. And it sounds like I'm not alone.

I was 13 when i went there to hang out with my friends. I was surprise they didn't kick us out considering we were so young. The food was pretty good, and display was pretty elegant. The waiter was very nice to us and i love all the pictures on the wall because it fells very homey :D

Tricksy sauceses... So we ordered medium sauce with our appetizers - no burn at all. I'm thinking, I'll get the spicy sauce for my entree and it'll be just right. NOPE. 2 glasses of water and a runny nose later I've only been able to eat half my dish since the heat of it is contributing to the burn on my tongue. This isn't to say it wasn't delicious, but how about some fair warning next time? Other than that, I love it here. Everything is hearty and tastes home made (and authentic as far as I can tell as a non-Italian person). It's a bit pricey but worth it. Our waiter was a delight and even surprised my mother with free mousse and a serenade for her birthday. Scungilli is excellent so is the bread and calamari. No complaints. They also get points for not standing outside and shoving menus into every passerby's face. Also, the sangria is pretty yum and comes in a large pitcher. WIN.

The bus boy who was not careful, accidentally, pushed the bread tray which the napkin rubbed the candle and catching on fire at our table before our eyes. FIRE on 119 Mott Street! The chicken Marsala was swimming in watery sauce, as it was not thick or rich. I love Marsala wine sauce if prepared properly. My former love who has previous professional cooking/food service experience can produce better quality Chicken Marsala than Vincent's. The olive oil is poor quality as there is no scent illuminating the table. Indeed, the quality of the food, but the price has greatly increased, has dilapidated as per a good friend who took me here on New Year's Day 2008. The wait staff is somewhat friendly. They re-corked the wine bottles which allow patrons to take any leftover home.

This place is legendary, old-school & really good...Reading the details of some of the totally unfair, inaccurate negative reviews below make me wish these people had put down their crack pipes before writing...Vincent's is one of the oldest & one of the best...with the best sauce in varying degrees of heat in Little Italy...

I had dinner there with two friends on a Saturday in late October and we loved everything about it. Our meals were delicious (I ordered the stuffed shells), the portions were good-sized, the bread was delicious & our server gladly brought more at our request, he was very attentive & friendly, the busboy was very sweet and the prices were quite reasonable. Also, the interior of the restaurant had a wonderful "old world" ambiance.

I dont really see whats so great about the food. I had the Bruschetta which was seasoned well, bit the toast was rock hard. The lasagna was fair but I wasnt really overwhelmed by it. The sauce is ok but I really wish they didnt have the 3 choices and just made killer sauce. The service was good and it had goodatmosphere.

Amongst the barrage of Italian cuisine establishment that comprises of Littly Italy, Vincent's is the only and will be the only establishment you'll find me dining at while I'm in this terrain. The décor is simple... Vincent's history and experiences are plastered using pictures throughout each an every wall in this establishment. The story from when the restaurant was first built, refurnished, and to its current preservation can be observed through these pictures. In addition, the notable celebrity list that's paid homage to this establishment are anything but few and far between. The Food... I come to Vincent's for one thing and one thing only... The Sauce!!! Whether you like your sauce in more traditional Sweet form or a more robust and fully bodied Hot style, Vincent's has every traditional Italian inspiring sauce to meet your needs! My dish of choice at this establishment is simple... Linguine with Fried Shrimp & Meatball in Medium Sauce. Although I must admit that the pasta is slightly cooked over al dente, the Medium bodied sauce manages to enhance the contents of the Linguine extremely well to produce a harmonious balance between the starchy texture of the Linguine and the heartiness of the sauce. The composition textures of the Fried Shrimp and Meatballs produce a welcoming crunchiness and meatiness to the dish. The mild hint of salt in both proteins provide more flavor to the dish. What I found most welcoming about this pasta entrée is Vincent's ability to keep the succulent texture of the Shrimp even through the deep frying processing. Overall, the impression of the dish provides a varietal composition of textures with balance and flavors. Expect to drop about $20 for either lunch of dinner @ Vincent's... Good food, especially great sauce doesn't come cheap.

Good Italian food in a warm, festive environment. The food took pretty long, like Grandma Romano was personally cooking for you. A bit on the pricey side for what you get but there's definitely a homecooked quality. Got a dinner special consisting of a panfried, split chicken breast with prosciutto, spinach and mushrooms which comes with pasta on the side with their famous marinara sauce, which I did not think was that unique but was still good. Oh yeah, beware of unscrewed lids on parmesian shakers because I pretty much turned my red sauce into a white sauce.

I literally have dreams about Vincent's and plan my trips to New York around dinner at this restaurant! Amazing sauce, amazing meatballs. It is everything you could hope for in an Italian restaurant in New York, including the great atmosphere. It's a must-see when you visit NYC!

Food was terrible, service was even worse! Calamari appetizer was freezer burnt before it hit the fryer, food was cold, plate presentation was awful and to add to it the price was high. The group I was with only had appetizers and for 5 people it took close to an hour before we ate.

Little Italy sure ain't what it use to be, China town keeps shrinking it down. That is happening in SF as well, what is going on??? I had heard so many good things about Vincents, my friend has anyone coming to SF from NYC bring him some of the special sauce so I thought what the heck! It was a Monday evening and on the later side but this place was pretty empty which scared me a bit, we decided to get out of the heat and sit inside. The A/C left a a bad smell, however I wasn't there for the worn out decor of washed up actors faces plastered all over the walls, I wanted some killer Italian food and to bring back a jar of the special sauce as a surprise to my friend. Vino list was good, I started with the Vincent's salad to start, way too much dressing there was a pool full at the bottom of my plate when I was done. thank goodness the waiter talked us out of getting the hot sauce, went with the medium which was on the verge of being to hot, yet delicious, a great compliment with the meat ball parmesan. I liked it enough to grab an extra jar of sauce for me. I am not saying it is a must go when you visit NYC, there are plenty of similar places, the service was nothing special, the food was good, just don't expect anything over the top, but a good meal and walking away full is something you will get.

I had really wanted this to be better because I've eaten at the one on Long Island and that has always been a good experience. The service was alright but well, it started to rain and instead of helping our group inside, they allowed us to sit out in the rain, under the awning but still getting wet from the rain that was blowing under the cover. Not fun. The food was alright, like I said, I've had better. The linguine with clam sauce was just ok. The calamari was ok. I think I had better in NJ and the name escapes me but I'll get it for you. I will say that there is better. Go to the one on Long Island...it's better for sure.

Sorry to report this place has gone into downward spiral mode. It was a favorite of mine since 1984. I think the best days are way gone and the Vincents tomato sauce in the grocery store is actually better now then going in person. "You broke my heart Frado" I mean Vincents (bad Godfather joke) but you can do much better in Little Italy then the old standard. Look for the restaurants with the most people in them. The locals know what good and whats not. Avoid!

My grandmother came from Italy and moved right to Little Italy, when there were real Italians there, so my family have been going to Vincents for a very long time. However on my last two visits the food has degraded to tourist grade Italian, meaning IT SUCKS! Nothing like they used to be their hot "gravy" sucks, the calamari was overcooked and had the consistency of a spaldeen! Come to the outer boroughs if you want real Italian, Little Italy is a yuppie cesspool.

It's always so hard to find the right Italian restaurant when you're unfamiliar with the area and your one meal depends on it. I wasn't too impressed with the service here but the sauce was alright, I tasted them all, mild, medium and hot. I'm not one to enjoy writing about bad service, so I made sure the waiter came back to get our order when too much tim started to pass as if he'd forgotten about us. My friend got the lasagna, which he said was "a-ok." I had been looking for the lobster ravioli in Little Italy before, and was delighted to see it on the menu. I ordered that with the broccoli and was in Italian heaven. The sauce was amazing and perfect and the broccoli was steamed to perfection then sauteed in olive oil and garlic. I must have picked the perfect combo dish on the menu. Other dishes on neighboring tables looked good, too, but reviews aren't made up. So this review is to hail praise to that lobster ravioli, it was bomb!! I do agree that the prices are as touristy as the area, but I guess it's expected.

The food does not speak for itself. Especially, the oddly high prices for a small portion and lacking taste/overall quality. With the said fact you would hope the service would be better. Nope, not at all.

Worst $140 meal ever! Chicken like rubber, sauce loaded with grease, overdressed Caesar, Fettuccine Alfredo drenched in cream sauce with soggy noodles! Yuck. Considering I came all the way from L. A. and walked From Battery Park area for this recommended place, it was an enormous disappointment!

Some of the prior reviews almost scared me away. But since I've been coming here for the last 50+ years, I thought I would return on my next trip to the City. Had the usual (fried calamari, medium sauce, biscuit) and as usual, it was great. Probably the best and freshest calamari this side of Naples and Sicily. And the sauce is by far the best I've ever had either in the U.S or in Italy. The problem with prior negative reviews is that those people didn't realize that Vincent's is not a typical Italian restaurant. It specializes in Italian seafood (calamari, scungilli, mussels, clams, etc.). As a matter of fact, when I first started going to Vincent's around 1960, they only had the aforementioned Italian seafood on their menu. Maybe they should return to that limited menu. I am certainly going to return for my fried calamari with medium sauce. Till then I will just have to dream about it.

Classic Old School Little Italy! I recommend this place to anyone thinking of eating out in Little Italy. In my opinion, there are some bad restaurants in Little Italy that seem to survive from uninformed tourists that do not know which of the many restaurants on Mulberry Street to choose from. This place is a little removed from Mulberry Street, but has that classic (and kitschy) charm: checkered table cloths, hundreds of signed celebrity photos on the wall, etc. But the big point to make is that the food is very good: standard Italian favorites, all topped off with Vincent's spaghetti sauce. Enough said

Vincent's is a solid choice for Little Italy dining. During the summer we passed by and ended up sampling the item that gives this place a twist and sets it apart from the others in the neighborhood- the spicy tomato sauce. Bread dipping samples were set up outside the restaurant during the summer (this was still going on in December) so we gave the different sauces a try. We had already eaten that day so we decided to come back on on the next trip through the city because the spicy sauce was so intriguing. There are three levels: mild, medium and spicy. We paired the spicy with a fried calamari appetizer and it was very good. The sauce had more than the usual kick but none of the tomato taste was lost. The balance between heat and flavor was just right and the calamari was perfectly fried. All in all it lived up to what was expected. For the two entrees, veal parmesan and potato gnocchi, we went with medium heat for comparisons sake and this was excellent also. The medium really wasn't all that less spicy than the hot. Again, the balance was just right allowing the flavor of the food to come right through. Prices are reasonable as well as portions so this is not a NYC tourist trap.

Not the place it was 25 years ago. Poor service. The shrimp ball was burnt. Had to ask for water 3 times. Stay away. Eat a meatball sandwich at Subway and walk out feed and with more money in your pocket. Too bad. Another landmark that has missed the mark.

Came here for lunch while walking through Little Italy but was disappointed with the quality of food. Maybe I have high expectations when it comes to pizza, but their pizza pie left a lot to be desired. The complementary bread was also burnt and service was lackluster.

I love love love this place! True homemade Italian sauce (choose between mild or spicy), lunch specials including a to-die-for meatball sub (homemade meatballs) for $8.95, busy/upbeat atmosphere, they even bottle their homemade sauce and sell it. Five stars!

Vincent's is a pretty nice place. The decor is elegant I guess u can say. It's a comfortable place to eat with the dimmed lights and the waiters are friendly as well. Isn't an extremely expensive place as well but I don't suggest overlooking the restaurants around Vincent's either. Nothing too spectacular about it. Just the food is alright but so can the other Italian restaurants around it too.

Authentic Italian, from the waiters to the wine. The red sauces are amazing -- my shrimp scampi was delish, and I sampled the gnocchi sitting next to me and the spaghetti and meatballs next to her and was blown away. Steve C. is right on -- so not the Olive Garden!

Bad sign- place was empty, though highly recommended. Diet coke was flat. Water had an off-taste. Meals came in minutes, as if nuked from last week, Pasdta tasted stale, veal parm was tasty but stale. We had to request the bread- understandably not served at first because it was stale and unedible. My wife mentioned to waiter- he shrugged and asked if we wanted coffee and desssert. Obviouslt not. No apologies, and water was never refilled. This 106-year-old restaurant has seen better days. Decent reviews that are posted are from other nights and years- not applicable to our visit. May have been an off-night, or yeart, but it would be crazy to ever risk returning. Oh- unlike other places that had over-anxious thugs trying to lure you in, this had AC at least, and was largely the reason we didn't walk out initially when we saw people gravitating to other places- partially by intimidation? You couldn't even glance at menus in this area without being jumped on by rude, hard-selling "recruitors." I don't like it when anyone on Planet earth, NY or Albany shoving their business down your throat. Particularly when it sucks.

I was really glad the first time I went to Vincent's because it was really late and most other restaurants in the area were closing down so it saved me from going hungry that night. But what keeps me coming back is the sauce I love the spicy sauce, mmmm. The rest of the food is good too from what I've had it seems to be pretty standard Italian fare but the sauce is what does it for me.

We went on a recommendation from an ex-friend ;-) We also read some great reviews about the place, but were really shocked at how awful the food and service were. It started with the stale bread and moved on to the "chef boyardee" pasta dishes. We sent back two of our dishes and were too embarrassed to send the rest. Upon telling our waiter of how bad the food is, he simply said "well I am not the cook" without an apology. Had a seconds dinner in Tribeca.

I was headed back to Jersey from a photo shoot I had and my partner said "lets got to Vincent's". I actually got excited about it. When we walked in, there was a mild smell that I can't describe (but it wasn't Italian sauce I was smelling). We were lead to a table up a few steps, which seemed to be smell free. Anyway, the food was absolutely awful. We ordered the fried calamari. It looked and tasted disgusting. It was drenched in a sauce that looked like a greasy paste and it was soggy. We couldn't eat more then a few bites. When the waiter came with the check, he asked is if we wanted to take our 'full plate' home and I said that it was too soggy. He offered a new on to go with sauce on the side. I was sick the entire way home so I didn't touch it. The sauce they gave us had an inch of grease on top. We also ordered rigatoni and meatballs. The sauce on the rigatoni looked as if it was burned and greasy and while it didn't look like any sauce I grew up having, it had a unique taste that if you could get past the grease, was interesting at least. I think it was the meat balls that actually made me sick, I couldn't stop burping then up. Very disappointing. Was not worth cheating on my diet for.

It's hard to say that this is a "great" place or a "place to die for." As a Brooklynite, the Italian food is so much better than any place in Little Italy. Vincent's is probably one of the better locations in the area, but I'm not sure if I would put it up there was the best. Due to its high expectations, this place was given three stars. The food was alright, nothing spectacular - I wouldn't dare put the Olive Garden above any Italian restaurant in the city; the service seemed lost at times. Perhaps I had an off-night. Would I give this place a second chance? Maybe.

I do love pasta, but their classic homemade tomato sauce just killed my taste buds for it. The high level of sodium in it (maybe even MSG) made me so thirsty I downed about 4 glasses of water during my meal. I was still thirsty by the time I got home almost 2 hours later.

Worst meal we had in NYC!! They had a 9" pizza as a lunch special which we thought would be pretty safe since after all, it was their lunch special...i swear frozen lean cuisine pizza is probably better than what we got (maybe that's what it was??!!) The linguine with "worldfamous" meatballs was barely edible. My husband and I both thought it was "PREGO" jar sauce - altho that may be unfair to PREGO...To add insult to injury, it was totally overpriced for what it was. You'd get better food and at a fraction of the price, food from a Sbarro at a mall food fair. The only good thing i have to say, is that the olive oil infused with garlic that they give for bread dipping, is good.

Great Pasta, I love the spaghetti/linguini with meat balls, I think that the sauce is the best I've had in years. Just a reminder to get the medium sauce since hot can only be handled by professionals with thick tongues. With the amount of pictures on the wall, I was half expecting Frank Sinatra to come in at one time. Go during any week night. Always busy during San Gennaro.

We dined at Vincent's a year ago with friends from out of town and really had a wonderful time. This year, I decided we should go there for Valentine's Day. The first thing that should have alarmed me is how empty the place was at 7:00 p.m. They had a "special" Valentine's Day menu, so we went with that. For $35 per person, the menu had a choice of an appetizer, choice of entree (only one included with the famous sauce), and a choice of dessert (cheesecake or tiramisu). The menu also included a bowl of rigatoni ala vodka. Neither one of us got the pasta. My husband ordered the fresh mozzarella & tomato and fried calimari and shrimp with medium sauce. I ordered the baked clams and the chicken francese. We also ordered a pitcher of red sangria for $28 (actually a reasonable price, in my opinion). The sangria was very good. The waiter was very nice and polite and charming. The mozzarella and tomato was a disappointment - the tomatoes were grainy and not ripe. The cheese was so-so, and NOT fresh mozzarella. The baked clams were all breading with a tiny, whole clam. The fried shrimp and calimari with medium sauce was rubbery and disgusting, and the sauce was mild (not medium), AND there was a hunk of deep fried bread (I HOPE it was bread) in the midst of the food. My chicken francese was supposed to come with a potato and vegetable, but the waiter asked if I'd prefer pasta and sauce. So I said, sure. That was pretty good (fettucine and medium sauce) - thank goodness, since that's all my husband had to eat (at least until he found a piece of plastic in the sauce). He told them the calimari was rubbery, and asked that they just pack up a veal marsala to go. He showed the waiter the piece of plastic, and the waiter said it must have come from the calimari (odd, since they were on separate plates). We also asked for our dessert (tiramisu) to go. Tonight we decided to eat the tiramisu. THE PORTIONS PROVIDED WERE MINISCULE. Maybe - MAYBE one-and-a-half inch square. Oh, I forgot to mention the charming fellow with the old-fashioned camera who came by and asked if he could take our picture. It was a very nice picture. And when we told him how nice it turned out, we were informed it was NINE DOLLARS. (That was a stupid move on our part, since we LIVE HERE and should have seen that coming -- but I pity the tourists). I am so disappointed, and I have no idea what happened in the past year -- but we will never, ever return.

A great simple Italian restaurant. They have great red sauce that comes in sweet, medium, and spicy. (I usually get the medium.) It's inexpensive and the staff is friendly and have been there forever. The walls are covered with famous and not so customers who have stopped by the restaurant.

When i walked in, there was a weird smell. However, everything that we ordered was perfect! The seafood salad was delicious and had the right amount of garlic! And the seafood was so fresh! Best seafood in little italy hands down! everywhere else is too chewy! The calamari with linguini is the best! And the manhattan clam chowder was so fresh! Everyone was pleased!

Been coming for years. Not as good as it once was but still the best sauce. I'm obsessed with the sweet sauce. When you sit order a side of the sweet and the hot and dip your bread in it before deciding which to get on your meal (mix sweet and hot you got medium).

Poor service, waited at the front for at least 5 minutes to be seated. Went here with 2 adults and 1 child and only wanted a slice of pizza. They told us one pizza was not enough (it would have been fine). No glasses of wine listed on menu, turns out they were $10 a piece for house wine. Pizza was terrible, it was not New York pizza but tasted like a frozen pizza. Worst $60 dinner. Avoid at all cost.

I've been here more times than I can count. It's a family tradition to come here on Christmas Eve and order their calamari. Any other times I'm in Little Italy, I always stop here for lunch or dinner. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else, except maybe Ferrara's around the corner for dessert.

Best Italian in little Italy, not sure why this place isn't even listen when you search Italian in little Italy. You people are haters and snobby yelpers. Vincent's is the oldest restaurant in Little Italy and the BEST my family is Italian and we LOVE this place it's the best chicken parm, Alfredo, vodka sauce everything. The best of the best here somehow it has only 3 stars but that's so wrong! This place is number 1!

    (5)
  • Nathan D.

Yes it's tourist bait, and yes there are plenty of other choices for food in Little Italy which are supposedly better, but Vincent's is where I ate the most amazing meatball sub I've ever tasted. The service was a bit slow, which gave use time to look at all the photos of famous folks who've visited over the years. I particularly enjoyed the photo of Sinatra in the kitchen making pizza! I'm not saying this place is perfect, far from it. But if you want to eat somewhere stacked in over 100 years of tradition and history, this is the place to go. Oh, and order the meatball sub. It's phenomenal!

Went to Vincent's while at the feast. It was very good. Outdoor seating. Waitress was prompt and helpful. Order shrimp balls in medium sauce (highly recommended!!). I ordered pasta with grilled chicken in medium sauce. The grilled chicken was actually on the side and I had to cut the breasts myself. My boyfriend ordered gnocchi bolognese. He did get sick later that night, not sure if it is from that but just a heads up. Overall the food was very good. The medium sauce is my favorite!!

I agree with the post from Daniel H., I visited Vincents with my wife on 9/5 and wanted to experience a real authentic Italian restaurant, and decided to order pizza. The man at the register was rude to us and his employees and not very interested in greeting anyone who entered..he said they do not sell individual slices and you need to order an entire pie if you want pizza. I looked at their menu and had seen that they served 9" pies for $11.95...we decided to give it a try and figured how bad could it be, we are in the heart of Little Italy!!!! It was the most horrible pizza I have ever eaten. The crust tasted like card board and was under cooked, we could not eat it.,,that tasted no better than frozen pizza from a supermarket. We ordered two sodas with the pizza which came to $34..that's just crazy!!!! Whoever owns this establishment better make some changes quickly or they will destroy their reputation. There are many other Italian restaurants in the same area, i would cross this one off your list.

I always rate an Italian place based on its bread and this place does not have yummy bread. It was soft at least but it didn't taste good. And there was nothing to dip it in, only butter. So it left a lot to be desired. The spaghetti and meatballs was okay but not great. Had a cappuccino and tiramisu for dessert and those were great!

TERRIBLE. I ordered a shrimp linguini and the shrimp was overcooked. I asked the waiter to change it. Then about 10 minutes later the manager gave our waiter the shrimp but without the linguini. Needless to say I'm still hungry. Instead of giving 1 star which I think is very generous, why not a 0 star? It's no fault of the waiter but the manager neglected the needs of the customer. Tourist bait. Stay away from this place.

We lucked out today and found ourselves in Little Italy during the Feast for St Gennearo. Every year it is celebrated in Sept with a parade and all of the best eats available. We had just stuffed ourselves with Dim Sum but there is always room for pizza, White for me Margarita for my daughter, then we hit the cannolis. In my world there is nothing better than NY pizza and this restaurant delivered it to perfection today

So anyone who ever reads my reviews would know I am the biggest vincent's fan in the world. Just not the one in manhattan. I finally went to the "original" in Little Italy just for the sheer fact I have never been. My excitement was displaced with sadness as I looked at the minimal menu. That's not always bad however I waited 15 minutes and had to ask for a waiter and they acted all surprised like oh nobody came over to help you? I said no I always ask for a waiter when i already have one. Anyway I ordered a few drinks, Vodka martini no olives with a lemon twist, and of course I get the house martini filled with olives. Sorry try again. I decided to play it safe and order Linguini and chicken parmagiana, very surprised that they only have 3 pasta selections in the house. I guess tourists don't know there are more than three types of pasta. I also ordered the side of half meatball half sausage. First off 8 dollars only got me 1 sausage and 1 meatball and they were not very big. Not to mention the meatball was overcooked and fell apart in to chunks when you cut into it. The sausage was under cooked and very gummy. The pasta was perfect el dente but the chicken was burnt and needed a steak knife to cut through. Safe to say I would not go back here even if you paid me.

I've been going to this location since '97 and always love everything. But in the last few years things have slowly been slipping, service, knowledgable staff and most importantly taste. At first I stop ordering certain dishes because they were disappointing but now there are too many items lacking. Also when I take a few friends, Vincent's falls face over and its embarrassing because you expect more from this location. Sorry Vincent's after 17 years, I have to say good bye for now, as there are way too many better places in the area and the city. Maybe until you shake management and the cooking staff up, then. But until......I would tell others to take their business down the block.

Worse pizza ever and i don't joke! It was a restaurant so you expect they do pizza by themelves, but this pizza was freezed and i don't know where could they find so bad pizza cause every market has a better one, also in Nigeria i think. No comment. Vincent sucks

Very tasty. Had rigatoni with sausage, mild sauce. It still had a teensy zing and was wonderful. Family reports their food was wonderful also. The staff was very nice and friendly.

I went here for Valentine's Day I ordered the calamari and spaghetti and meatballs, that's what I usually order, But when I went there this time the meatballs were a lil burnt but I love their sauce. The MILD sauce is great. Ever since my bf introduced me to this place I've been in love! He usually orders the gnocchi with mild sauce.

This place is very good. The food is amazing. I had the lasagne and my buddy had the lobster ravioli. We were both very impressed. Quick service, personable, quick to respond and great food. The beer prices were a little high compared to what I have seen in that area. They are also one of the few places that are open super late which helped us alot because we were out auper late often.

Fantastic service as always. That sauce... that sauce! It's the nearest thing to heaven. I think I'm going to have to order it to be sent to me in Florida. I need that sauce in my life!

I first ate here about 30 years ago...REALLY! You know what? The calamari in medium sauce tastes EXACTLY as I remember it- which is fabulous. It's hard to get downtown too often, so this time I took home 2 quart jars of their famous sauce. Can't wait to cook up my pasta and shrimp with it. OUTSTANDING sauce. The place is not much to look at, but it's loaded with "old NY" vibe. Staff is right out of Goodfellas central casting... But sweet and efficient.

The best Italian in Little Italy, hands down. It may not be fancy and snobby like the places on Mulberry, but it is where the locals go for good food. Their sauce is the best you will taste. I am a sucker for their Calamari and have to get it every time I am there, which is only a few times a year seeing as I live in Pittsburgh. The house wines are also surprisingly good, perfect for an Italian meal. I have tasted the Veal Parm, and it also is delicious. Just a great place to get a meal. And take a jar of sauce home with you as well!

This was the worst "Italian" food I have ever had! Or server sat us, gave us drinks, then sat down and ate a sandwich before asking us what we wanted for lunch. The food was terrible and we had to ask for refills on ice tea every time we wanted more. I was at lunch with 2 co-workers and our bill ended up be $100 for maybe $35 dollars worth of food...they charged us for all ice tea refills which added $15 to the bill. SAVE YOURSELF AND DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!

If you go to an Italian restaurant for the authenticity of the dishes, the homemade pastas, the superb seafood, fantastic desserts, flawless service and top drawer wine list, then don't go to Vincent's; you'll find much better purveyors elsewhere. Vincent's is about the SAUCE, nothing BUT the sauce. And I guarantee you won't find anything like it anywhere else. Suck up your courage, drop an antacid or two, and order the Hot pasta sauce/gravy. Such a perfect balance of sweet and hot with the scales tilted toward the hot. Do you like to "moja Italiano?" That is dip or dunk your crusty Italian bread into sauce and fuggeddabout the pasta. Then Vincent's exquisitely diippable sauce is for you. It's thick, no, I mean t h I c k. It's smooth, no, I mean smooooth. It cloaks your food like a burgundy-red velvet cape. The one found in the prop room of the Royal Shakespearean Theatre. That's how good it is. How funky. Old. Slow-cooked. The secret recipe is as old as the establishment itself--100* years, and not even Frank S. himself could pry it out of them. You can buy it by the jar but it tastes better right out of the cook's pot. The new Italian eateries just down the street and around the corner are full to the max with diners too young to know the difference. They like the fresh tomato, fresh basil, fresh mozz. floating around in bits and pieces in a thin brothy sauce. Vincent's ingredients have been pulverized and are invisible but you can taste what you can't see, and even better your tongue can feel, no, I mean feeeel the velvety richness, the smooooth sensuousness. Maybe it's just me, because I look around the room and it's rarely more than half-full. Are people too damn lazy to walk a block or two out of the way for the Real Thing? Or maybe I'm one of the few to be blessed with a Vincent's tastebud. Maybe you have one, too.

Grew up on Broome Street and was embarrased by how terrible the food was. Fried Calamari was inedible - like chewing rubber - and had to be sent back. Ordered Linguini with white clam sauce - it was covered with Red Pepper. When I told the waiter I was allergic to the pepper he said that he had never seen them make it that way. They quickly made me another order without the pepper, however, it tasked very fishy. Will never go there again

I can probably make that sauce at home. Or buy it in a jar at the supermarket. Nothing special. It was pretty empty when we went too. Couldn't finish the pasta because they gave me too much but it wasn't worth finishing or saving for later.

Wanted to try this place for a long time. We got there for lunch and there was a lunch special with 1 appetizer and 1 entree. Got the salad, shrimp meatball spaghetti and the regular meatball spaghetti. I would not have expected the there will be just 1 piece if meatball on top of the spaghetti. The sauce was okay. I had better experience in other Italian restaurant.

Very good hot and sweet sauces that are worth coming back to. My wife and I generally try to stay away from the run of the mill Italian restaurants because it is relatively easy to make good pasta and Italian dishes at home. Vincent's is different with their spicy sauce. All the pics of celebrities is a little cheesy but the food is good and different from any other Italian that I have had.

(Check-In: Sangria with Jill Sczech in New York's Little Italy!) Good food!! To be perfectly honest I don't remember the food too much.... we hadn't eaten that day and were waiting for friends, so I decided to go for their sangria rather than liquor while waiting (not as alcoholic right? wrong! well, at least in regards to my then empty stomach...). It was delicious sangria!

The food here is great, especially the seafood and meatballs! The red sauce is out of this world! The waiters can be a bit gruff until you become a regular, so if you want something speak-up. Lastly, the hot sauce is HOT, so ask them to sample it before you commit. Seems logical to me but people have given low ratings because of this.

This is about as old school as you can get. The food was okay. You must like sauce if you come here. The red sauce is a good deal thicker than I am used to but very tasty! It is not of the quality of Angelo's or other restaurants in Little Italy. However, with all of the great pictures on the wall of the Corleone family it makes you feel at home. The place has seen much better days though. I would recommend trying one of the other more crowded restaurants on Mulberry Street.

I am not usually a fan of red sauce..I tolerate it in Veal Parm and Lasagna, but i find most pomodoro/marinara sauces are ok but not memorable. The "Medium sauce" at Vicnent's is truly something special. Dark, nuanced, savory, with a little spicy kick.... magnificent. There is a party going on in your mouth with every bite-full. I ordered the Veal Parm with Spaghetti and it was outstanding. The cutlets were both crisp and tender and were not buried under buckets of sauce as is so often the case. It was the perfect gravy-to-veal ratio. The aforementioned medium sauce on it raised the dish from delicious-to-amazing. I also split the Hot Antipasto with a friend. The baked clam was delicious - crunchy, garlic infused breadcrumbs sat on top of clean fresh clams (whole, not chopped), the stuffed mushroom was nice as well. The stuffing was not the garlic-mush you so often get with this dish, but the REAL star of the plate was the eggplant rollatini. Rollatini is usually a throw-away for me in a hot antipasto plate. The eggplant is often mushy, the ricotta is usually bland and the amount of it often overwhelms the dish. Not here. The rollatini is something to write home about. The atmosphere was very old school...as it should he after 104 years. Above our table was a framed letter from Francis Ford Coppola to the owners recounting how Marlon Brando would send out for Vincent's Scungilli when on the set of "The Godfather". NICE!!! Finally, the service was warm and friendly and the waiter patiently let me sample the sauce before deciding if I wanted Medium or sweet. when I asked if the fried seafood came coated with sauce or separate, he told me "However you like it.". I am a convert. Can't wait to try the meatballs next and to bring a jar of sauce home with me. Thanks for a great meal, Vincent's!

By far the worst Italian food I've ever had. Two friends and I were around the area and decided to go to little italy. I'm around the area often but have never ate at any of the restaurants so I was expecting delicious authentic Italian food (silly me). Nothing tasted good and I'm not even exaggerating. I think boiling supermarket pasta and mixing it with jarred sauce would have not only tasted better but been way cheaper. We ordered a pitcher of sangria. It was horrible, it tasted like the ice melted, completely diluted the sangria and they put more ice in. Then, we ordered a dozen oysters on the half shells and these were the worsttttt I've ever had my whole, life. I couldn't eat more than one. They looked like they were opened hours ago and had no juice, they were also extremely fishy. ,y friends had to drown theirs in Tabasco sauce. Disgusting. The chicken parmigiana was also horrible. The chicken tasted really hard and cold. It had no juice whatsoever inside and was really thin and over breaded. There wasn't even enough cheese to drown it out unfortunately. I was in dismay at how horrible this was considering we were supposedly at an authentic Italian restaurant. The meat lovers pizza was more like tasteless soft dough sprinkled with a thin layer of cheese and literally 3.5 pepperonis and 4 pieces of sausage. Again, supermarket frozen pizza microwaved would have been better. I wish I was exaggerating but im not. Lastly, the lobster ravioli was the ONLY order that tasted okay and by okay, I mean edible. The bill along with tip was about $100 for 3 of us which left us all completely unsatisfied. I would not return ever, I don't know how they messed up on 4/5 of the things we ordered. Wow.

I used to love coming to Vincent's as it's off the main Little Italy strip so a lot of tourists passed it up. However, last time I went the quality was way off and the menu seemed different. Not sure if they changed owners/managers? The sauce is still pretty much the same, but it's very pricey now and the portions are small. The hot antipasti is something like $25.00 and you get 3 shrimp, 2 mussels, 2 clams, and a mozzarella stick. They used to give you seasoned olive oil for bread, but now butter. The menu used to say "our sauce and oil is so good we refuse to serve butter". I remember a guy asking once and the waiter ripped him lol. Not anymore... Lost all it's charm.

Took the red sightseeing bus and hopped off next to little Italy. With the kids hungry we landed here by random. We were dragged in cause of their special Vincent tomato sauce from medium to hot and spicy. We tried it but were not impressed ( had this typical canned tomato oxidation taste) Pizza was poor compared to those you get in Italy and elsewhere. ( hard but not crispy pizza dough) 2* only ...service could be more attentive as well.

Okay this spot is money! Holy cow there linguine meatball taste amazing! If you are looking for an Italian restaurant in New York. Look no more, because this is it! The sauce is phenomenal. The service is great too. When I visit New York again, I'll definitely stop here again.

Maybe it's the nostalgia value having grown up in New York, but I had the best meal of my life here back in 2009. Everything from the bread to the pasta to the sauce (the sweet sauce is unbelievable) to the tiramisu is beyond excellent. I dream of the next time I can visit.

We were looking for a decent place in Little Italy for some real pizza. The food was decent. Very filling. With that said, the service was the worst. Our server did not check on us once, when we finally got his attention for the ticket, he took at least fifteen minutes to bring it and then pick it back up. The restaurant was not very crowded, so I'm not sure what the deal was.

will never eat here again! was a semi-regular customer and got treated very rudely on the phone for a take out order. the manager refused to honor a simple request that was never a problem on previous orders. always returned for the spicy sauce (definitely delish!) but not worth the money especially if I'm paying for something that can't even be made the way I would like it! thumbs down!

Is it possible to give a zero-star review? Yelp doesn't give that option, but let me be clear, that is far more appropriate than even a 1-star rating. We (my group of nine friends) decided on this place after walking around Little Italy on New Years Eve. The place had a few other patrons, but not more than ten, so we figured it would be a good place to get a quick bite of Italian. I come from an Italian family and I love family-owned restaurants. We were brought crusty, burned bread about five minutes after sitting down. The waiter came to take our drink orders a few minutes later. When we asked if we could get one big check and then just write down what each person owed and then provide different credit cards, he said no and said the restaurant preferred to split us up into manageable chunks rather than individual checks; he recommended we pay in groups of 3. About 20 minutes passed before we saw our drinks. This place has the capacity for MAYBE 60 people, and there were only a few other people in the restaurant. Once the drinks had been delivered, we were ready to order, but the waiter walked away before we were able. So we talked amongst ourselves. When he returned a while later, we placed our orders and went back to talking. It was almost 45 minutes before we even received SOME of our appetizers. I ordered the oysters and let me say, I've never had oysters that CRUNCH. I was constantly pulling bits of shell out of my mouth, and the flesh was chewy though not entirely flavorless. At 6pm, we were starting to wonder where the food was. In the hour prior, several groups - one at least as large as ours - had come into the restaurant, ordered, and received their food. Some had even come and gone since we'd been there. I understand we were a large group, but it was getting a little ridiculous. I called the waiter over and asked him if everything was alright. He seemed flustered, and told us that they had gotten "very busy" but now that everyone else had their food they would help us now. I took that to mean that they hadn't even started on our meals yet. I told my friends I would go have a talk with the manager and see if we could get some kind of discount. When I walked up to the front counter, 2 of 4 people standing there immediately disappeared into the kitchen. I asked to speak to a manager and an older gentleman asked "what I needed". I asked him about the situation with our food. He told me (in quite a brusque manner) that because "we had requested" to have our checks split into 3 groups, the kitchen had gotten confused (he never clarified how that was confusing). I corrected that no, the waiter had actually requested it. I told him we'd been waiting 2 hours for our food, that other tables had arrived later and received their food first, and that we were just generally hungry people. His response was something along the lines of "Well, they're making your food now, so it'll be out as soon as it's done." Then he disappeared into the kitchen without another word. I went back to my table and told my friends what had happened, and that I wasn't happy with the response. They asked if he'd offered a discount and because I'd forgotten to ask, I went back up to the counter to ask if we could at least get some sort of discount on our bill. As soon as the owner came out of the kitchen, I asked if we could at least have a discount on our food. He offered us "coffee or dessert". I responded that we hadn't planned on ordering coffee or dessert and we would just prefer to have a discount on our bill. He said the best he could do was 10%, which I felt, for the level of service we'd received, was hardly sufficient, and I told him so. He responded by turning his back to me and telling me that 10% was the best I was going to get. I asked if he would turn around and discuss this with me rather than turning his back to me. I stayed very calm the entire time, making sure to keep my voice even. This is when the man really flew off the handle. He spun around, got right up in my face, and started screaming at me, to the point where the entire restaurant got silent. "Do you think I'm afraid to look you in the face?" he screams, spittle flying in my face. "I'm 74-years-old, not a 29-year-old brat!" (relevance?) He continued to scream as I went back to my table to retrieve my coat, and then me and my friends who were still waiting on their food got up and left. As we left, the owner pulled the door open and said "Get the F*** out of my restaurant." I said nothing, and as I walked out he said "Good riddance, you piece of s***". So, I was cursed at, publically embarrassed, and when my other friends left a little while later, they were made to leave through the back door where the staff takes the garbage to the street, though not after several of the other waiters apologized profusely for what happened. So, if you'd like to avoid subpar food, bad service, and verbal abuse, AVOID VINCENT'S.

Little Italy sure has gotten little. Seriuosly, I only realized where I was when I saw an old-school Salumeria nestled inbetween the Chinese shops. New York is a melting pot, where I can dine on authentic Italian food and look out the window at Chinatown, which is part of why I love NYC. Hubby and I went for the lunch special, but we also had the Shrimp Balls as well. I ordered the ravioli and he got veal parmigiana. Being more adventurous than him, I got the spicy sauce and he got the mild. The shrimp balls were delicious- crunchy on the outside, and savory on the inside. While they had a lot of shrimp, they did not taste fishy, and the order was huge. Lunch specials come with a salad. The salad was fresh, but they put too much dressing on, so it was sort of bumped down to a salad from TGIFriday's or Applebees. Plus, the salad was brought out before the main course. This was odd to me, as my Italian grandma always serves salad last, to aid with digestion. The Ravioli were delicious, but a small portion, while hubby's veal parm was a huge plate towering with food. I'm not sure why there was such a size difference in our orders, but I didn't really care because I was stuffed by then. The bread was bread. It didn't taste old or prefrozen. The spicy sauce wasn't too spicy, and the mild was very mild. Kids would probably love the mild. I would like a spicier spicy sauce, but it tasted homemade, and I know they are serving the masses and not just me, so I understood. What absolutely sold me on this restaurant was our Server. He had an accent and a good sense of humor. He was dressed very spiffily, and was quick and efficient. He spoke with a combination of English and Italian, which I loved. When I referred to the sauce as 'gravy', he smiled like he hadn't heard that in a while. (My grandma calls all sauces, salad dressings, and marinades 'gravy', and it stuck with me since I was little). A table of tourists was asked if they would like 'birra', which confused them, so the Server asked about beer. The tourists told him (in halting English with a German accent) that they didn't understand the question. Without skipping a beat, he said 'Heinekin? Budweiser?'. They were super excited that they understood him- scoring the Server extra points for adaptability and thinking on the fly. The decor was striaght out of Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing", with a ton of signed pictures on the wall. These included pictures from The Godfather Part II and Goodfellas, which I found funny, and celebrities dating back to forever ago when Vincent's opened. I would go back, and would recommend this place to my friends. The food was plentiful and tasty. I wish I had saved room for an espresso (con panna or macchiato), made from an old-school machine (not like those crummy, watered-down ones at McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts). Plus the desserts! If I could have stuffed a cannoli into my overstuffed belly, I would have. It's been too long since I had a cannoli, and I can almost bet they were perfect there. It's a bit of a walk from the A train at Canal Street, which is great to walk off that food. Even when I reheated the food later, it was still better than anything I had in a long time.

Hello, Vincent's is a clam house. The shrimp and calamari in hot (if your stomach can take it) or medium sauce is very good. This place has been on Mott St. for over fifty years. It's not the type of place you go to and order chicken parm

Where to start? So my boyfriend and me were corraled into the place by the jokester outside and were supposedly shown to the 'best table ever!'. We sit down and order 2 iced teas. No crowd to speak of. Waiter takes our order. We choose the lunch menu. Me, chicken parm. The boyfriend, linguini with meatball. Offered different sauces for that and my bf chooses spicy. He was told by the waiter 'No, you cannot have. Make you sweat'. We thought he was joking and we chuckeled a little. No joking. He was serious. Said he could not order the spicy sauce! We sit there (20 minutes??) waiting for our food. Guy comes out of the basement with several big boxes of Barilla pasta. Ok, now I am not going to assume they are back there hand-rolling out our pasta but I didn't want to see the sore bought boxes either. Sort of like eating chicken. You know they killed it, but you just want the finished product. I don't want to see the $1 box of pasta that you buy at the grocy store being flaunted after we know we just ordered it for $10 off the menu. Food comes, and at this point we are only half expecting it to be good. It was NOT. Zero flavor. Zip. Nada. Zilch. My chicken parm had been pounded out so thinly and hidden under cheese, I wasn't even entirely convinced there was chicken in there. Refills on drinks? Forget it! Waited and waited for the waiter to get off his cell phone so we can request (nevermind being offered!) refills for our empty glasses that had been sitting on the table. Waiter takes 2 glasses, brings back 1 iced tea! I said "uhhhh, we need 2..?". What did he think when he picked up TWO glasses from our table? He looked at me like I had two heads. I said 'We had TWO glasses. There are TWO of us..". I don't think he understood me, to be honest but managed to bring back a glass for my bf.... Bottom line.... terrible service, bland food, overpriced boxed Barilla pasta. I am shocked, LITERALLY shocked, how anybody (reviews below) can even give this place anything over 1 star. Are you people even from NY? Ever had good Italian food? Obviously not if you did. This place is the PITS!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types.
