We have been here a few times, and although the food is good, the overall dining experience is fair. It is quite dark, servers are for the most part not very friendly (except for the male server we had last night), and gets quite crowded. It's a fun place for a girls night out, but wouldn't take a first date here, as it's a bit noisy and some of the tables are on top of each other.

nothing "wrong" with this place - it just doesn't get me excited. the best thing about it is that it's a nice restaurant AND kid friendly (as opposed to Friendly's is kid friendly, and I'm not bringing the kids to a nice place like Bar Frites or Sage Bistro. . .). cotton candy with the check is a very nice touch - and the pretzels are awesome.

Went here for my daughters birthday . We were seated right away which was a nice surprise. Once we were seated we found it very hard to hear the server. My daughter ordered the sloppy joe quesadillas which were actually pretty good. Both my son and wife ordered the skirt steak . My son ate the whole thing but both my wife said it was average at best. I ordered the horseradish ,cheddar and bacon crusted meatloaf. Sounds like it would be loaded with flavor right? Well it wasn't. I didn't taste bacon cheddar or horseradish. Tasted like chopped meat with Panko bread crumbs on top. Needless to say average food at above price.

This is not my first time at this restaurant, always thought the food and drinks were consistent and decent. It's a good local establishment. However on more than one occasion, we have called for reservations, which they don't take, but you can get added to the waiting list with an approximate wait time. Trying to plan ahead with a toddler and being pregnant, you would think this is helpful. Well it's not even a little bit. Tonight was the worst... Called ahead got on the waiting list, was told 45 minutes to an hour. Got to the restaurant and was told another 15-20 minutes and we stood in a crowd at the front door, since there was no room anywhere else including the bar. The 20 minutes were almost up and we were told we were next, after waiting an additional 20 minutes we noticed others were also being told they were next. At this time my son had it, along with me and my husband. Went to the desk and said they can take our name off the list, without losing her head the woman just said "sorry". My husband went back and told the woman that we called ahead and edited an hour and then an additional 40 minutes there, again without even lifting her head said "sorry". At this point we just went home and ate since at almost 8pm we weren't going to get into another place right away. Really disappointing and it's not worth going through that to eat there. They have our phone number because they text you when your table is ready, but I don't they use that to apologize. I don't think we will be going back now.

It's Menza-Menza bar food. You will have different experience depending on when you go. They do offer a decent Sunday Brunch menu. Pros - warm pretzels & mustard at start (except Sunday Brunch) - fresh fish dishes - specials are good (i.e. pastas, lamb chops, glazed pork chops, etc..) - Sunday Brunch menu - free dessert (cotton candy with your check) - convenient location (walking distance from Merrick Train Station) Cons - lousy burger - lousy steaks - ridiculous wait at peak times - service could be better

Grillfire is an all around awesome spot to grab something to eat with your friends and family. The menu is packed with a wide variety of choices from one of the best burgers I have ever had to delicious salads to a HUGE chicken pot pie. My last visit at Grillfire we had Joe as our server whom was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. He suggested we try the chili pop shrimp and we were certainly not disappointed. For my main course I had my favorite dish on the menu, the chicken fajitas. They come out sizzling on a hot plate and are always to die for. Grillfire continues to be one of my top restaurant choices these days, how could you not love a cozy restaurant with great food and cotton candy to top it all off!

DON'T GO On July 14, 2014 my family and friends (a party of eight) attended the George Martin's Grillfire Restaurant in Merrick New York to celebrate my son's birthday. Unfortunately, the experience we had was dreadful. We were seated in a round booth (right side, in the back as you enter the restaurant) that had no or little air conditioning. We spoke to the waitress and the manager, who acknowledged the issue. Regardless, nothing changed and as a result we were confronted with food that we could not consume with any comfort. No effort was made to move our table nor did it appear that anything could be done to increase the air to us. Some of us left food and for others (me in particular) eating at your restaurant turned into a chore. Although this was a celebration I could not wait to get outside where the warm weather and rain was more desirable than being in the restaurant. I wrote to the restaurant to express my concerns. I did not not hear from them. I was a regular visitor the restaurant. However, i will not return again. I suggest you do the same. They are insensitive, uncaring, and unprofessional

I highly recommend this place. I've only been to the Merrick location. The atmosphere is cozy but hip making it a great place for a girl's night out, a date or a family place. I have tried many things on the menu and I have enjoyed most of them especially the Garlic Shrimp Linguini and the Seared Tuna Wrap. I highly recommend the brunch specisl which you get a great deal for your buck and it's quite classy. The food is always well prepared. The only reason why this place is not getting 5 stars is because the service could definitely be better. The waiters hardly come over to check up.

The first time I went to Grillfire for brunch a few weeks ago I had a very pleasant experience and begged my husband to go back. The second trip was a complete flop! The ambiance is great, such a cute restaurant! On our first visit there was live entertainment which was soo nice. On our second trip there was an eerie silence to the restaurant and halfway through our meal someone finally turned on a radio! On our first trip I was so impressed by the basket of muffins and quartered bagels with butter and cream cheese but on the second trip we got stale bagels (even had trouble cutting it!) and no butter. On our first trip I enjoyed my omelet, home fries were AWESOME and I loved the cubed melon. The mimosa was also a nice touch to the brunch menu. On our second trip my home fries looked more like grill scrapings, my eggs tasted TERRIBLE (like they'd been microwaved) and the only part of my meal I enjoyed was the melon. The mimosa was almost all champagne and no orange juice, I couldn't even drink it. In regard to the waitstaff.... nothing memorable about my first trip but on our second visit our waiter seemed to be hiding. When he did take our order there was no polite chitchat, he just asked us what we wanted and disappeared. When we were finished we waited almost 10 minutes before we could flag him down and get the check, and no one ever bused the table. It was really hit-or-miss with this restaurant and I'm wary to go back.

Food was great. Service, however, wasn't that good. Maybe she was having a bad day, but our waitress looked like she hated the world. We weren't greeted for about 15 minutes, then she comes over, does not introduce herself, and says "do you want a drink?" Also, was slow service though. But I must say, food was excellent. I will return because of that!

The food was great, the service was terrible. Don't get me wrong, the server was very nice. However, he could not have been slower and barely asked us if we needed anything. I will go back because the Mahi Mahi I had was delicious and it is nice to go somewhere that has some healthy options. Plus the free pretzels make it worth it.

Have been to Grillfire twice and loved it. Both times I ordered a glass of wine, and the Grill Fire skirt steak, and they were really good. Both times the place was packed, but the wait times were short and the service was great. So, last night, after a long day out, my wife and I decide to go there for a late dinner. We were happy to see that the parking lot was empty, so we wouldnt have to wait. We stepped in, and the hostess got up from a table (looked like she was having dinner) and seated us. We sat there for 20 minutes, in a virtually empty restaurant, and were not greeted. A server, who was serving tables directly behind is, completely ignored is. So we did as any repectable people would do, and we walked out. Another woman made a half-assed attempt at offering us a gift card on our way out, but we politley declined.

I love Grillfire every night but Tuesday. Go for dinner with friends and to chill at the bar. But Tuesday is ruined because Adam the bartender is rude and disrespectful and nasty and it's a shame because I love it there. Fire him

So we made a reservation for 12 people at 6:00. We waited until 7:30 with small children. The manager came and apologized and we waited another 30 minutes. We sat now with uneasy children 2 hours after our reservation time. We had one server who took 20 minutes to greet us. Then when our food came 3 entrees were missing. We called the manager she told us they were busy and the food would be right out. The remaining dishes came 15 minutes after the other so we all didnt eat together. We then ordered dessert it was my fathers birthday. The desserts came and we were missing 2. It was becoming annoying. We got the server to tell him we were missing desserts one was the smores and one that was my fathers for his birthday. He informed us they were out of them. We could see our surrounding tables with smores. He waited for us to ask for them to tell us they were out? So we ask for the manager again and she would not come back. The server aaid she will take the desserts off. We watched her sitting and eating at the bar. We were there for 4 hours amd left unhappy. I called the General Manager to complain, she apologized and said she would mail me and my father a gift card. Guess what? We never received anything! A very disorganized establishment. Will never go back!!

I had the pleasure/displeasure of eating at the Merrick Grillfire on Saturday night 12/13/14 at 7 pm. . I made our reservation the previous Tuesday.... for 8 People. Told the person on the phone we needed an appropriate table...that 3 of the people were very big... I was informed that they would accommodate us, no problem.. We arrived a little early and were seated at the only available table . It was a round booth/table.that seemed to be suitable for 6. When I spoke to the manager, she informed me that our reservation had no remarks as to my request . . She then told us that if we wanted to wait an additional 35-45 minutes- they would get us a larger table... Why should we wait ? we had a reservation ! So we squeezed into the booth and sat shoulder to shoulder and hip to hip. It was quite comical when our dinner arrived and our dinner plates didnt fit on the table ! We had to place our plates diagonally and remove all the glasses in order to fit the plates on the table.. Our waitress also had a bit of an attitude problem. She placed 5 pretzels on the table for 8 people. We had to ask numerous times for more. Finally - they arrived without a smile on her face. She brought us drinks- but never asked if we needed refills!.Our food was brought to the table and the servers had no clue as to who got what dish- so we had to pass the plates around ourselves... Again- the waitress never returned to see if we needed anything- we had to flag her down as she scooted by us .. Despite being packed into the table like sardines- the food was good... Don't think we will be coming back again ... which is a shame because as I said previously- we did enjoy the food.. It was the service and attitudes of the staff , that was horrid

I always have a great meal is Grillfire and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. We recently went for brunch and the menu selection was very good. We ordered the following: Breakfast Quesadilla Mac and cheese French Toast Steak and egg burrito All of the dishes were great and I would order any of them again. You also get a compliment breakfast cock and a great brunch bread basket. Will definitely be back soon.

I've only been here for lunch since I work in Freeport. The food is decent. I am a sucker for seared tuna and they have a killer seared tuna wrap with black beans and wasabi mayo. It's my go to dish when I come here. The salads are also good, as people I've been here with have gotten them, as well as the burgers. The fries are also really good! Parking is pretty crazy here though! The lot is small and during lunch is always full and street parking is bizarre. I think people who own the houses put up their own "NO STANDING" signs...but a few times around the block I can usually find something. I know during the dinner hours they offer parking at a neighboring lot, just not during the lunch hours

Very nice experience. We made reservations for a party of 4 adults plus a child in a highchair. Upon out arrival about 10 minutes early our table was already set and waiting. We were seated immediately. The service was very slow but the staff was very courteous and knowledgable of the menu. Bar drinks were very strong, but the highlight of the night was clearly the food. every dish was delicious. Portions were I thought on the small side but they all tasted great. Looking forward to going back.

Love family dinner at Grillfire. They really try to accomodate everyone's taste, and even my picky little sister can eat here! Parking is sometimes ABSURD (my car was hit in the parking lot...) but it is worth it! Food can be expensive, but this is Long Island... that is not unusual.

Food was mediocre. Service even more mediocre. Our server was super awkward and no attentive. The fried pickles were all batter with no pickle, the vegetable soup with chicken meatballs tasted like canned chicken broth with no flavor and I don't know how they made Main Street Meats 1946 burger blend flavorless but they succeeded. The DIY s'mores are just plain dangerous. The only upside to the meal was the attentive buser who cleared the table quickly and the cotton candy given as a treat to every table at the end of their meal.

Delicious fresh food with many options for everyone at the table. Everyone was happy not a single complaint. The DIY s'mores were an added bonus and very fun.

Just got home from dinner so I decided to write this review. We enjoyed the 2 for 1 happy hour on a Friday night. I don't understand why the management has a problem with people being seated if their entire group is not present. My wife and I were in the restaurant at 6:30 and asked for a table for 4 when the other couple were on their way. We were told no we cannot seat you until all 4 of you are here so we waited at the bar and at 7 went back to the hostess who now had us wait 20 minutes because there were no tables available, not a huge deal but annoying. The soft pretzels to start our dining experience were nice and the appetizers of wings and rings were good. The wait staff was attentive and when the burgers and steaks arrived they were cooked as we ordered them. The dessert sliders were an excellent way to end the meal and the Cotton candy with our check was a nice touch. We will come back again

Went here with my grandparents and mom for lunch. My mom ordered a chicken salad pita, grandpa the chicken pot pie, grandma the crab cake sandwich, and myself the pulled pork with coleslaw. I started out with the bleu cheese salad. The salad was large considering I just wanted it as a starter. It was tossed in the dressing, and not too much so like most places tend to do. I really enjoyed it. The rest of our food was a different story. My grandfather's pie was soup. Liquid soup with a flaky crust on top. Really? Use some starch and thicken that, dude. What the hell? My grandmother's crab cakes were way too mushy on the inside, and greasy. What's up with putting bacon on a crab cake sandwich, by the way? The coleslaw was really liquidy. My pulled pork was CHEWY. How do you get pulled pork to be chewy? It's supposed to be succulent and melt in your mouth, not be rubbery and chewy. The BBQ sauce was way too sweet for my liking. My mother said her pita was incredibly greasy (how do you make a pita greasy? With chicken salad in it? HOW do you do that?). She had indigestion the rest of the day afterward. You may ask why we continued to eat what we did, but our waitress was pretty much never in sight, and never stopped by of her own accord to ask how things were. We were hungry and the food wasn't COMPLETELY inedible, so we ate. We had to flag her down every single damn time anything was needed (when we could find her). Never stopped to ask if we needed anything, if we needed refills, how the food was - nothing. When we started finishing our plates, they were left sitting in front of us and nobody would bus them. Hell, even when I flagged her down to get a refill on my drink, she still didn't remove the obviously-finished plate in front of me. Important thing to note? This restaurant was EMPTY. There was maybe 7 other tables inside and by observation and restaurant know-how myself (I was a server for 9 years), her section only consisted of us and 2 others. When I went up to use the restroom I saw her standing over by the bar area talking to coworkers. Oh, so that's what took precedence over us. Good to know! My grandparents thought their first trip here before they took me was pretty enjoyable, but this trip definitely changed their opinion and ruined my mother and I's first experience with it. I don't think any of us will be coming back again.

Food was good. Several good choices for the kids. Service was ok but a bit slow. Brunch came with a drink. I asked for a virgin screwdriver but they brought me a virgin mimosa. It was almost as good.

Jut had another great meal. Love the warm pretzels instead of the usual bread. Had the Thursday night special -3 course meal. Delicious loaded potato soup, hangar steak with blue cheese and French fries. (They have the best, thin, crisp fries!) And for dessert a chocolate chip cookie slider. Yummy! Only complaint is the service is a bit slow.

Had been going to Grillfire for years. What happened? Went today and it was awful. The waiter did not know the answer to any questions to a point that a manager came over to our table to explain a dish I was interested in. The onion ring appetizer was heavy, not light and crispy with an awful cheesy sauce on the side. I ordered a new dish, spinach ravioli with chicken and it was horrible. We also ordered the grilled salmon and it was small, tasteless and dry. The cookie slider dessert was highly recommended by our lame waiter because the cookies were "made in house". Well don't bother, it was terrible. So surprised and so disappointed......

Ate here yesterday for the first time. A++++ SO GOOD. From Massachusetts and was just Visiting my girlfriend. Use to be a waitor of 5 years and have great knowledge of the industry. From the fresh pretzle right out of the oven right away, to the delicous coconut crusted crab bites/cakes/great idea for an app. All weekend I did not have one steak/burger cooked right at other places, so I almost didnt go with steak here.....so happy I did. Skirt Steak/crab cake combination was unreal, cooked to a perfect Medium Rare and you could taste the sweetness of the crab meat in the crabcake. I was skeptical of if it was going to be worth the $25 because I wasnt sure of the portion size, but after eating it I was more than satisfied. Why not completely shock me by placing a complimentary order of cotten candy right in front of me at the end of the meal. My friend eats here all the time and could not stop laughing at how shocked I was, in a very good way. All in all, I will be back in the area much more visiting my friends and dont see why we should eat anywhere else other than Grillfire. First time I have been blown away enough to right a review, and a long one at that.

First time there and will never go back. We had a 6:30 reservation, it was a group of six of us on a Monday night, last night. We walked in and it was crowded, but no one greeted us. I mean, no one!! Waiters, waitresses, bus people walked by and no acknowledged us. I thought it was so strange. Finally we grabbed a waiter and said "can someone seat us" he went to retrieve the hostess who was in the kitchen tending yo a to-go order. She came out and never apologized. We were finally sat after 15 minutes!!!! That was rediculous. Once sat again we were ignored, I mean literally, people walked by not one acknowledgement. Then a guy comes over and says he's Ronnie and will be our waiter. He takes drink orders and appetizers. He literally is gone another 15 minutes before coming back with our bottle of wine and two sodas, but not the two bottled beers for the guys. He opened the wine and never let us taste it. Just poured it(bad service) and then disappears for give more minutes to find the beers. My husband finally had to ask "are the appetizers almost ready" before he brought them out. IIT WAS ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES FROM THE TIME WE ARRIVED TILL WE GOT APPETIZERS. we were starving. Finally food came and although tasty I felt it was skimpy portion and the plate looked bare and underdressed. The plate had no love to it, no garnishment a, no color. I was thoroughly unimpressed. My girlfriend kept talking about the cotton candy but it never came, when she asked we were told "the machine is broken" sorry. Over all Ronnie was horrible and so was our entire experience. I will never go back and wate money on a place like that again.

I know this is a little late, but I had my graduation party here back in May. The managers worked with me to set up a portion of the bar for the party and everything went flawlessly. We were timely waited on both with drinks from the bar and food ordered for the party during the entirety of the party. The prices were reasonable and within the budget I set for myself. As always, the food was delicious and the blood orange martini the bartender created on the fly was a hit with the party! Huge thanks to the staff and managers for making the party a success!

I LOVE the food at Grill fire in Merrick... from the warm pretzels they serve in the great basket to the cotton candy they give you at the end... I have eaten here 3 times and the food has ALWAYS been amazing! HOWEVER..... and this is a BIG HOWEVER... the service is HORRIBLE.... Right down to the hostess that NEVER smiles ... It's is no wonder that there is always a wait... it takes FOREVER to get the attention of your server so people are sitting there a LONG time. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead and get your name on the list before you leave the house so thats good. All I can say is thank GOD for the wonderful food... (Get the Chopped tomato Blue salad, its AMAZING... ) If they can improve their customer service this place could rival any high end Manhattan Restaurant in my opinion! Try it!

I will never go back here again. You should read on, reader... Why? The service: POOR! Our waiter actually left and didn't tell any of his coworkers about our table, because when he left mid-meal for us, that was the end of our service. No wait staff paid any attention to us at all. I had to get up and tell someone myself. Then when it was time to pay our bill for our food, no one came with the bill. I flagged someone down. Then, when we wanted to pay, no one came to take our card. Good thing we had cash. We just left the cash on the table so we could get the hell out of there. It all took so long. The bartender: Rude and piggish! The bartender was RUDE and made us feel uncomfortable. He told us what our bill was in front of everyone instead of giving us a bill. No, this wasn't a big deal, but the way he said it was nasty. He made us feel really weird. He was chummy with the people at the table next to us, had his back to us laughed and acted like he was pouring out an empty uncapped bottle of Johnny Walker over his shoulder... at my girlfriend. It's a good thing no drops came out on her white sweater. He turned around to face us a little still with his back to us, made a sarcastic face to show off to the table of guys he was buddies with (my friend saw the face he made from the side) and said "Oh, sorry... didn't see you girls there. I hope my hair doesn't get in your food." We weren't nasty or mean to him. We have no idea why he was so rude and mean. I wouldn't want to call anyone names or anything, but this guy was a real piece of work. I would tell any single females to steer clear from this place. The drinks: GROSS. I would say I'm sorry for this scathing negative review, but I'm not.

A nice surprise. I wasn't expecting too much from this place. I think because the previous owner let the place go and I haven't been there since. We decided to give it a try and I'm glad we did. They start you off with warm, soft pretzels for the table instead of the traditional bread...nothing earth shattering but a nice departure from the boring bread basket. The menu offered a nice selection of comfort food with a twist or made slightly different. The Mac and Cheese was great. The meatloaf was ok, a little dry but still had good flavor. Free cotton candy after dinner. Good friendly service earn it 3.5 stars....but I can only do 4 stars. three stars wouldn't have been fair.

My date and I were driving down sunrise highway for dinner. The parking lot was full so we decided to check the place out. We received soft pretzels to start the meal and cotton candy to end our meal, which was unique and very cute. For dinner he had a chicken burger which looked juicy and he enjoyed. I had the grilled shrimp with Thai glaze which was great! It was a nice place for family or date night. Would def go back!

How could you not like this place? Parking is a little tight... but once you get a spot you're golden. I went with a friend for dinner last night... the wait was supposed to be about 30 mins but we wound up waiting for just 10 mins. Our table was near the bar which may bother some, but not this guy. We were given 2 pretzels which acted as your traditional bread and butter. It was good... a little crispy but not bad.Thumbs up for the originality though. I then ordered the skirt steak with creamed spinach and a lemonade. The food came out pretty qucik, the steak was delish and the spinach was also very tasty. No complaints- I'd go back in a sec.

The fact that I write about anything in Long Island with the snobbery of believing everything except riding a motorcycle is better in Manhattan is something I'm trying to shed. I know for a fact if Grillfire was in Manhattan I'd enjoy it a great deal for a few reasons. The menu is "cute" with cotton candy and some interesting things you can do with a pretzel. American comfort food served with the ambiance of a Malaysian dimly lit brothel is always alluring and sexy. The drinks are what they are when you order them so there's no surprise there and while the top shelf is missing a few things if you're a gin or vodka snob, just enough drinks with dinner equalizes all shelves after a while. Prices are very reasonable and it's a good place to take a date. They have dishes you can pronounce and it's dark enough that if she's hideous you can hide in the shadows and if she's really god looking you can make moves in the dark...and if she rejects you it's too dark for anyone to notice but your ego.

Nice atmosphere...sort of Humphrey-Bogart-ish. Great for casual dress or formal occasions but leaning more to the upscale side. Food presentation was ok. I wasn't crazy about the macaroni and cheese that I ordered- it was REALLY rich and heavy....and the toasted herb crust on top was super salty and lacked flavor. The cheesecake and sorbet (not pictured) were delicious. I would also recommend the spinach artichoke dip as well as the potstickers for starters.

The food here is really delicious and I want nothing more than to be able to give it 5 stars, but the service really leaves much to be desired. We've been three times over the past two months and all three times the servers have seemed disinterested and annoyed. It really puts a damper on an otherwise great dining experience. My husband and I have tried something different off the menu every time that we have been there and everything has really been delicious (we recommend the coconut shrimp, the loaded skirt steak, the crab cakes, and the mahi mahi!), but the unpleasant service really puts a damper on things. Hoping that management checks out all of the comments on the site and does something to make things better!

Went here for my boyfriends birthday. Food was amazing and portions were huge. Definitely could have split an entree between a few people. Unfortunately they will not accept reservations for groups under 5, and the bar gets packed. Needed to wait about an hour and 45 min for our table.

update: tried grillfire again this past saturday night to see what it's like when it's not restaurant week...this time we did the call ahead thing, and were seated within 10 minutes of arrival...i have to say the food was still excellent, and the service was better than last time, not perfect but much better

I might have given a higher score if it was a cheaper place. The food was good, not great. The service was slow but polite, I've had better service in diners Example: 4 drinks = 5 trips, excuse 1 because the didn't have ingredients for a Mohito. Still, 1 mixed drink + 1 glass of wine + 1 soda and a glass of ice water took almost 15 minutes. With the water being last by a lot. Appy's were OK, I tried the crab cake 'munchkins'. Flavorless. The main courses arrived in a timely fashion and were quite good. Not excellent, but good. For $20-$30 less I would rate higher. For American 'comfort food' Major's steak house in East Meadow blows it out of the water. Again, not a horrible experience - but I won't be back, I just wasn't that impressed. Maybe I was just in the mood for Sushi, or maybe I just expected more

Saw this restaurant on Restaurant Hunter on Verizon Fios which made the claim that they had on of the best burgers on Long Island. After having one of their signature burgers I was extremely disappointed. The burger had no flavor whatsoever. Definately a forgettable stop for me.

My family and I come here for brunch the skirt steak is really good and the eggs benedict, usually the food is warm to cold that's why I rated lower. Mimosas are a plus!

The black label burger is my favorite burger anywhere! Worth the price! BBQ chickens wings and mac n cheese is phenominal! Service is so-so, other food eh...atmosphere gets 5 stars.

Rudest waitress I have ever dealt with at any restaurant I have ever eaten at. Absolutely disgusted. Will NEVER go back there- and will make sure to never recommend it. Aside from the food being totally gross.

I don't know why we go here. It will be a long time before we even think about going back. The food is just okay. The wait is ridiculous. They lie to you about the wait time. We walked in and they said 30 to 40 minutes. Over an hour later we get sat at a table in the bar. While we are waiting, we decided to have a drink at the bar. The bar is packed and there is only one bartender. Why would they not put two people behind the bar during busy times? The floor manager is useless as she just puts her head down hoping to avoid contact with angry people. This place is just not worth it!!

Ordered the Kobe burger with Blue cheese and sautee onions.. Delish!!! Made reservations for Saturday night, as suggested by other reviewers. So glad I did, the place was very busy at 6:30PM! Parking was an issue, the private parking for patrons only holds 15 cars ;(

I like how they put little twists on some of the menu items and ya yaa the cotton candy and the pretzels, it's real cute. The service was fine, I really like a beer that they had on tap - pumpkin flavored and the guy would put cinnamen and brown sugar on the rim. That was my favorite part about this place. The food is pretty good and I would go back. We didn't order much food - mainly things to snack on. Atmosphere is chill and dark. Give it a try, you'll probably like it. Kind of like a more sophisticated applebees.

Food was okay, waitstaff was friendly prompt service did not like that they've changed the menu around so didn't get what I was looking forward too:/ the only highlight is the pretzel b4 the meal and the cotton candy at the bill.

My friends and I recently went to Grillfire for dinner. There were 5 of us, so we called ahead and made a reservation. The food was very good! I ordered the Crisp Herb Roasted All Natural Chicken and loved it. They bring out cotton candy at the end of your meal, and I enjoyed that as well. I'll definitely go back again.

I love Grillfire. I've been here a couple of times and never had a problem with my food. It gets very busy so be aware of what time you go. Stays busy past 8PM.

I heard this place might go out of business soon. This saddens me. Fantastic burgers (one of the best I've had) and the apps are always delicious. A little pricey, but have no problem paying a little extra for their food.

Decor is nice. Cozy booths, accents of fire all over, an electronic fireplace. But the television in the dining area is bizarre, out of place, and distracting from my meal and company. The crowd waiting to be seated was poorly managed due to a cramped waiting area. Service really leaves something to be desired. Other yelpers are right. Smileless, at times sassy, both from the host booth and the servers. Had me waiting ~10 minutes longer for my table than I was told. Food took quite a while to arrive. Food is acceptable. I expected more tomatoes and dressing in my tomato and bleu cheese salad but it was good. My barbeque trio entree was pedestrian. Good portions but flat tasting bbq. Nothing had the punchy flavor you would hope for in a place called "Gillfire." The pre-meal pretzels and post-meal cotton candy was a nice touch. Price was more than the value. At $26 for my salad and meal, before tax and tip, there was more I desired in all areas. Next time I'll spend that same amount elsewhere. Overall, I won't return and I won't recommend this place to my friends.

Free soft warm pretzel pre-meal and free cotton candy after dinner? A-ok with me.... We got the mac n cheese appetizer cuz it said 'world famous.'..it was ssooooo good and we shared a small..n it was way better n bigger than i expected... Boyfriend and I opted for salads....so thats pretty standard...can't really get that wrong.... Got the chocolate chip cookie ice cream dessert...that was good also....service was good..prices decent/normal..came at around 4:30 on a sat....right before it got busy........ Parking lot is a little funky/small....other than that, all good! Would def come back!

If I could give this place no stars, I would. We went here a few weeks ago for my dad's bday celebration. We had reservations, but one person couldn't make it and the ridiculously RUDE hostess YELLED that we would have to wait on a list and our reservation would not be honored. The wait was about an hour. Not only that but she was completely dismissive, unprofessional and had an UNnecessary attitude.Did I mention she was yelling?? Yeh. My dad asked, "Why's this kid screamin?" I just don't get the attitude. I told her that too. It's LONG ISLAND, not Soho! Settle.down. Jeesh. We were carrying gifts for my father in a crowded, loud corridor and she told us that there was nothing she could do for us and I asked to speak to a manager. Her superior was a bit more accommodating but we still had to wait. SO, we walked out. There's nothing I dislike more than a tween hostess who knows nothing about customer service. It's saddening that management does not realize that the hostess is the entrance into the dining experience. I was a hostess once and NOT the nicest one and I got told off left and right for it (from my boss that is). I wouldn't go back to this spot if I ate for free and didn't have to wait a second for my food. NEVER again. NEXT!

Great family restaurant ...took my son here for his 12th birthday..told the waitress it was his birthday and she didn't even sing Happy Birthday and didn't even offer my husband his dessert which came with his meal. But food was great aside from that.

I just went to grill fire for the first time last night.. After being unable to find a parking spot, The wait was over an hour when we got there but we waited anyway. They offered to text us when our table was ready which was kind of cool I've never heard of that before. While we were waiting in the crowded front area there was the rudest woman standing at the desk and leaning on it right where the hostess was, refusing to move until she got seated. She just stood there and checked her email and Facebook and Instagram while other people were shouting over her body to put their names down on the waiting list. I was a little annoyed that no one at the desk was suggesting for her to move. When we did sit down at our table the waiter was friendly. We got hot pretzels on the table immediately and then our appetizer and food came out pretty fast.. The food was all OK. Nothing spectacular. Of course the meal ended with cotton candy, like everyone is mentioning. So to sum it up: parking is atrocious, the wait isn't worth it, and the food is just alright.

Grillfire has a charming atmosphere. The staff is very nice and efficient! For Lunch I tried The Jumbo Grilled Shrimp with BBQ Mango sauce and veggies! It was good but a little too spicy for me!! My partner in crime tried one of there specials. Crab meat Stuffed Fillet of Sole with creamed spinach! He loved it!! The sweet potato fries with creamy herb dressing was out of this world.

Food was good. Just wished they had more Booths to accommodate 5 people. I had to sit on an uncomfortable wicker chair and I didn't have room to move the chair due to a big pole. The waitress could have been a bit friendlier and the music could have been a little more modern.

Very cozy woodsie atmosphere with its dark walls and fake fire place. Grillfire gives off the feeling of being in a cabin on top of a mountain somewhere cold. They give you pretzels with mustard to start instead of bread which is different and so good! I ordered the seared tuna wrap with avocado and it was really good! My boyfriend ordered the jumbo grilled shrimp with bbq mango and sweet potatoe which he loved. Very good!

I've gone here 3 times in total, The first time was in a group of 4 with my boyfriends mother, him, my mother, and myself. Excellent food and the service was great. The second and third times, not so much luck. Because I loved it so much, my boyfriend took me there for dinner before a movie. We are both in our mid 20's, but we were served like we were high schoolers at a pizza joint. We were seated about 3 minutes before the table next to us (a married couple and their children) and they got water, pretzels, and their orders taken before we even got our water or had a server talk to us. I'll be honest, the food is awesome (especially the sweet potato fries) but the third time was the same, almost worst. Maybe it was because they didn't think they were going to get a tip from us? We were almost never noticed and I felt like I was a bother to our server. At one point my boyfriend was giving his order and the waitress walked away before he finished his sentence!!! Go here if you love great food, but make sure your old enough to get their attention!

Good food , service is Ok but not the fastest , but most times we go there it is very crowded . Have tried most thing on the menu and found everything to be good. Full bar, drinks are a bit expensive for Long Island. The fun thing is at the end they give you a Cotton Candy.... yum ! Good place to eat !

Reasonably priced. Very nice service and a live band on saturday night, that wasn't too loud if you know what I mean. Had some great items on the menu too! I ordered the meatloaf an potatoes, but i was very intersted in their duo of steak and maryland crabcakes.

just got home from dinner there with my boyfriend. the place was empty when we walked in but it was early around 430pm so thats expected,,,we had olivia as our server and she was right there with a carafe of water which is a nice touch and took our drink and appetizer order. we shared the edamame and rings and sweets which was sweet potato ff and onion rings with this amazing herb dipping sauce and blue cheese dip too. the edamame were good if you dip them in the chile sauce it came with and the onion rings were great he liked the sweet potato ff im just not a fan of them anywhere. they bring soft pretzels to the table which were the frozen kind but we still scarfed them down. i had the sliders and ff and he had a burger with provolone and mushrooms,,,the meat was awesome,,ff the frozen kind with some batter that i didn't care for. olivia checked back numerous times and was very nice. we shared a mini choc brownie for dessert and they of course bring you gratis cotton candy with the check which he decided to bunch into tiny balls and throw at me cause he's a very mature man,,,lol we had a great early dinner, service was good and not terribly expensive,,,im a huge george martin fan and i would def go back to try the meatloaf. i used to work there when it was Route 66 with some of the most repulsive people i have ever had the displeasure to work with,,,the manager was a total bitch and fired me saying that i was a disruption to the staff and they hated me probably because i was the only person there sober,,,but i digress go there and enjoy

Love this place, very similar to the on in rockville centre, but in my opinion this one is better. Love the interior and the way everything is set up, but what's even better is the food! the burgers are always fantastic and who gives hot pretzels with mustard for starters?! Amazing. try this place asap

I love the fact that this place is very clean, newly renovated and decorated in a cool way. Not many local restaurants on Long Island actually spend the time and money on the restaurants appearance. The bar scene is great and the food is good too.

Liked: -complimentary pretzels & mustard (and bread and butter) while we perused the menu -food was delicious -decor was classy, warm and cozy -complimentary cotton candy spun around a martini glass came with the bill at the end of the night -pretty decent "specials" menu Disliked: -server seemed inexperienced or flustered -our dirty dishes piled up on the table at some points -the odd little fryer baskets lined with "newspaper" that everything comes in. A basket of fries on top of my plate of food is redundant. Just put my fries on the plate please. -the loud, distracting, chaotic atmosphere that became of this place by starting a karaoke session near the bar while the bar was already full of people cheering for the Yankees during playoffs. Karaoke would have felt out of place even without the game on. -a little overpriced for what you get

I really want to give this place a higher rating but there were some major issues that prevent me from doing so.. I just cant. Lets start with the positives. Who wouldn't like a warm soft pretzel to start instead of bread? At the end of the meal you get some really nice cotton candy that is so cute even if you don't like cotton candy it just looks so wonderful. Also as a dessert you can get a smores that you make yourself! They bring a little portable fire thingy that is just adorable. The cons are very rude wait staff. The first time I went there, no hostess in sight. There were, however, wait staff hurrying past me and although they saw me waiting, no one even made an attempt to get someone for me even though they had made eye contact with me. The second time I went the same thing happened and when I asked a waitress where the hostess was she ended up just seating me. Unfortunately the menu was less than desirable all around, Nothing special at all. The dim lighting or "ambient" lighting is too low and borders on annoying.

We had dinner reservartions and were seated right away by a very pleasant hostess. Nice atmosphere. The wait staff was a bit slow, yet friendly. They start you out with warm pretzels and mustard in addition to bread. Interesting! I ordered the chicken pot pie which was delicious. I highly recommend it. And to end the meal you receive cotton candy with your check. Super fun!

Went there today for Valentines Day with my husband. The hostess was aloof and seemed full of herself. Our waitress came over and was pleasant but didn't introduce herself or seemed overly friendly and interested, just treated us just like another table. Our food was good but not worth the money we paid. Our bill came to $108 and we could have gotten the same caliber from Fridays. When we left the hostess at the front desk didn't say thank you or good night. We will not be going back there again.

I would give this place no stars if that was an option - wow - been coming here for about 3-4 years now and have watched it decline - much like Boulder Creek had - the place is a mess right off the start once you give your name - they dont take reservations, but have call ahead to put your name on the list - although you arrive there and seem to have as much of a wait as anyone else -yet some people can just stroll in and get seated (perhaps they are known customers??) no consistency here - then you get seated - a distracted broken TV in the corner which I saw someone post a comment about 3 months ago - I guess they dont know where Best Buy is located - then we get our waitress - wow no personality - rushed, and kind of in a pissed off attitude before you even order - then we get to the order part - my wife ordered the special - a Tilapia, and asked if the sauce it was cooked with contained butter - which she is trying to avoid, and was told well we can cook it plain and put the sauce on the side - it comes out cooked in the sauce with extra sauce on the side - as soon as the food is dropped off (the proper etiquette is to give a moment for a guest to take a bite of the food then check) she comes by - "well enjoy" and runs off not even waiting for a reply as she could see it wasnt correct (not that we would have sent it back anyways at this point - who would feel comfortable with that in a place like this!) - food was mediocre past that - nothing like what it once was - I think people are out of their MINDS waiting to eat here - there are so many better places on Long Island that actually WANT your business - time to send George Martin's Grillfire - Merrick to the land of failed restaurants.

The food ranges from ok to very good. I love the atmosphere in this place. CONS: I've taken my family here about half a dozen times and each time it's been a bit of a burden to find parking. PROS: A brilliant move on their behalf, they bring cotton candy to each table at the end of the meal. I have no doubt THIS is why my children ask my wife and I to take them to Grillfire (and we've been there about once per month since we first tried it 5 or 6 months ago). It's often packed (even in the early dinning hours). So, if you don't have a reservation, then expect to wait 15-30 mins for a table. If you have kids, it's best to arrive before 6pm.... (closer to 5pm).

To me this is an upscale diner. I've eaten here too many times to count. I've never had a dish that disappoints. I usually start with the onion soup or a small tomato bleu cheese salad. This is where I go when I want comfort food. Mac 'n' cheese, meatloaf, chicken pot pie- they're all good. I usually et the brownie for dessert. Thursdays are crowded. Drinks are always good.

I want to give Grillfire a higher star rating, I just can't. My sister and I arrived at Grillfire at around 7 on a Saturday evening. The hostess, who could not have looked more bored, led us to a little table in the front part of the restaurant. Although it wasn't late, the restaurant was already on its way to filling up. A busser brought two hot, soft pretzels and honey mustard in a wire basket. How fun! It was a tasty and unusual treat. After that, though, we waited. And waited. And read the menu. Twice. And waited. FINALLY our waitress came over and apologized for the delay, but offered no explanation. We put in our drink and appetizer order. I can't say drinks came quickly, but they finally did, and they were followed by appetizers. My sis and I got two of Grillfire's "sharing" apps: the macaroni and cheese (which they claim is " the best in the world,") and the onion rings with "bleu cheese fondue." The mac & cheese was quote good; it was a little gooey, not crispy (which is how I usually like my mac & cheese), but it wasn't, to use a technical term, gloppy-gooey; it was sort of a muted-gooey, and it was very good. The onion rings were DELICIOUS, not thick, thin-cut, and well seasoned. I would skip the "bleu-cheese fondue," as I found it to be too heavy and overkill for those wonderfully appetizing onion rings. My sis and I waited some more, and finally our apps were cleared, and then, FINALLY, the waitress reappeared and took our dinner order. To be clear, our waitress was very sweet, but she would disappear for long periods. Our table was squarely in her section, and it seemed NONE of her tables would see her for a long while before she would reappear. I simply do not know what her deal was. Anyway, I ordered the Cobb salad, and my sister Kristin got the MSM burger with cheddar cheese and mushrooms. When these FINALLY arrived, they were very good. My Cobb had both sliced steak and chicken, which seemed unnecessary; I would stick with the sliced steak, though, because it was very, very good. The salad was pretty big, but it didn't have a hardboiled egg, which I found disappointing, and there were something like, clumps of bacon stuck haphazardly throughout. I know bacon is traditionally served in Cobb salads, and usually I like that, but bacon, sliced steak, and chicken? No wonder this Cobb costs $17! There was something like a whole avocado in there, too, which I was happy about, as I love avocado. My sister said the burger was well made and tasty. For desert, we shared the brownie sundae, and though at $9 it is the most expensive dessert at Grillfire, I would get it again (and share it, it's big) in a heartbeat. The brownies are freshly made and to dieee for! The whipped cream is fresh, and if there's a complaint here, it's that there is too little chocolate ganache. Otherwise, perfection. Grillfire ends your experience with freshly spun pink cotton candy spun around a wine glass. Just like those hot pretzels in the beginning, it's both fun and wonderful. So while I'd like to give Grillfire major props for its food and decor (fun and cozy), it's service is pretty bad. Bussers would pass our table and not take empty dishes; dirty dishes piled up, which is such a pet peeve of mine. Our waitress was nice, but frustrating, and that hostess was just sour. Also, $17 for a Cobb salad? Really? I think we can cut down on some of the meat going on in there and replace it with, oh, some traditional Cobb salad ingredients. Grillfire, I like you, but you've got some stuff to work on.

I went to Grillfire last night, meeting up with three of my High School friends for the first time since we graduated. At 7:30, there was not one table available but there was seating outside so we hung out for a while. The wait time was only 40 minutes, but being with old friends, it didn't really matter. I recognized Grillfire as soon as I pulled up. I was there year's ago when it was Nick D'angelo's and I remember what a great restaurant that was too. I loved everything about Grillfire's. The ambiance, the FOOD, the staff, etc.!! Always fun to have a waitress with a sense of humor. As I was telling my friend how great she looked after all these years, our waitress walked over and couldn't thank me enough for the compliment!! (I really wish I remembered her name for next time) I took the advice of my two friends, Denise K. and Danielle M. who both yelped Grillfire previously, and I ordered the Shrimp with BBQ Mango Sauce. It was absolutely delicious, really flavorful with a little zing to it but not too overpowering. I ordered mine with rice vs. the veggies and it tasted really good with the sauce. Two of my friends ordered the Burger's with Fries and they were enormous!! I haven't seen burgers that big since I ate at the Jackson Hole (but I'm sure the quality of Grillfire's vs. JH can't be compared). My other friend ordered one of the special's, St. Peter's Fish Oregonato which looked delicious too. Free refills on all soda's. We were too stuffed to order dessert so I can't comment on that. What I can comment on is that from the moment we sat down to the moment we left, this restaurant remained completely full. I really liked the fact that we weren't rushed at all to leave and it must have been a good half hour we remained at our table and just talked. Years that past felt like just days and my old friends became new ones again. It was a perfect night and Grillfire was a perfect restaurant!! Note: The parking lot is tiny but I easily found a spot on the street and there is also parking on the side streets as well.

Love the atmosphere, bartenders, most of the waitstaff, and the George Martin Chopped Salad. It could afford a few more exciting things on the menu, especially since their weird Buffalo Chicken Fondue is SOOOO good. Absolutely delicious and fun but needs a little more excitement in the menu. Great prices and attitude, especially for snooty Rockville Centre.

Ok for the record best sweet potatoe fries and kobe burger..... but man their service is the pits, you look around and no servers are on the floor (partying in the back I guess), you wait for them, I go back for the food....but wow, management is clueless. On Sunday last showed up at 11:40 am opening time (11:30) door still locked. 4 sets of customers stood outside. In this economy you'd think they'd already be open an ready for business.

With few choices of good restaurants in North Bellmore, I was excited to hear a bit of nearby Rockville Center was coming to Merrick. Loved this place on our first vist, liked it alot on our second, and it was OK for our third, probably wont go back again. Nothing is wrong that changed my mind about Grillfire its just the menu grows boring, no specials and the place just seems to lack a personality.

I've only had the burgers here and have been satisfied each time. The fries are a little greasy but everything usually comes out pretty good. My girlfriend enjoys the seared salmon and she has liked it each time as well.

Over the years I've shifted towards avoiding Long Island eateries to the best of my ability. There are very few places I will seek out (Popei's in Bethpage, any Indian spot in Hicksville) & actively crave. (Clearly, now that I live and work in culinary wonderland (Brooklyn/Manhattan) I've turned into quite the little food snob.) But Grillfire, like the above mentioned spots, has quickly become another Long Island eatery I can easily depend upon. (This review is based on brunch only, but I'm eager to have dinner here.) The brunch is top notch here. The menu has just enough variety on it that it doesn't leave you overwhelmed. Truly something for everyone. And if you don't want eggs or pancakes those burgers sound incredible. My last time at Grillfire (this past Sunday) I opted to take a seat at the bar. The bartender (an Aussie!) & staff were absolutely wonderful. My drink was never empty for long and I was kept entertained by the Aussie's banter with the Long Island servers. It didn't take me long to settle on my menu option: the Skirt Steak & Scrambled Egg Burrito. I requested the steak to be cooked rare and I was not disappointed when it arrived. Absolutely flavorful, incredibly tender skirt steak tucked between eggs & dancing with peppers, onions, pico, avocado, black beans & cheddar. Delicious. I devoured my burrito & polished off the home fries. My big regret? Not substituting for the sweet potato fries - but no worries... I just vultured my friends. My drinks were great. I stuck with Old Fashions throughout the meal and was glad I did. I'll definitely be back for brunch when in town to visit family and friends, but you had best believe a dinner night is in store.

Food is always good, just don't sit in the high top area, my boyfriend and I were seated and brought hot pretzels right away then waited 25mins before our waitress came over! And two different waiters were waiting on the tables beside us, still no one thought to say anything. One of the bartenders frequently visited the table next to us because her friends were seated there and didn't realize or say anything. I think the Hostess finally realized as my boyfriend was about to say something and someone finally came over. She was nice and apologetic, but we were so hungry! I work in customer service so I understand busy Friday nights, but it seemed like there was no communication through out the staff.

I enjoyed my meal there and ambiance made it very pleasant. I ordered a cheeseburger (well done) and it was well cooked. I enjoyed the ambiance as well. Good date spot or special occasion. They have us cotton candy at the end of our meal, so if you have a sweet tooth- that's a nice treat! My only problem was the parking. Very tight and small parking area. Had to park down the block at a library instead and then walk back.

Great for happy hour if your looking to nosh and grab a few drinks with friends! The dinner menu however is kind of boring the best part of the meal is the pretzel to start and the cotton candy to finish!

My first and the last time at this place. Came here with 3 other people. Guys had beer and us girls went to cosmopolitan which was fantaaaaastic. Drinks I would give 6 stars. Food? No star!! I had veggie burger since besides salads there really aren't any vegetarian meals. Even salads have bacon in them. It wasn't tasty at all. It wasn't even cooked right. The middle of it was just slightly warm. My friends had all different meals and they didn't finish them either. They weren't impressed. It looks very nice and cozy inside and Tuesday night is now karaoke but we won't be back.

I have been coming to Grillfire for years but I must say I am always there for lunch or happy hour at the bar and never sit at a table in the main restaurant. The food is good along with the prices for happy hour cocktails but the main reason my wife and I continue to return is the service we receive in the bar area. The bartenders during the day are cordial and make you feel welcome. They enjoy having conversations with their customers and making them feel comfortable. If you are looking for good food and drink in a friendly bar setting than Grillfire is your place.

We were seated immediately which was nice because the parking lot always seems to be full. We were greeted and received water and the complimentary hot pretzels which is a very nice touch. Ordered Steak Fajitas Medium and Skirt Steak Medium. Received Fajitas well done & what appeared to be a London Broil. When I questioned the server who seemed to be missing for quite some time she acknowledged it was wrong and brought it back to the kitchen. They fired up a Skirt Steak and replaced my meal and brought new steak for the fajitas cooked to the proper temp. Mind you the excuse for the well done steak on the fajitas was 'the skillet is really hot it most likely cooked it to well done while it was waiting to be served' That's a first for me, never heard that excuse. Either way, it was a mediocre meal. Due to the screw up they brought us a complimentary piece of cheesecake doused in raspberry sauce. I just didn't have the heart to explain to the server that I am allergic to raspberries. Instead we just nibbled and called it a night. They also gave us what appeared to be their trademark Cotton Candy as a treat. Nice touch as well. Overall.... meh.... I've had better.

So this place was pretty good but the service was kind of sucky. The food was very tasty and it was certainly nice to get a pretzel with some mustard instead of bread (there was five of us and they offered another pretzel and we said yes and it never came. . . FAIL) There was no presentation what so ever of the menu or specials in fact our waitress only attempted to make it very clear that there were no crab cakes on the menu and she couldn't believe how upset her other table was about it. The pork chops were pretty good and it was over all a nice dinner but they need to revamp the wait staff. Here's some advice: Give a menu tour, it goes a long way and when you don't you seem lazy and it makes giving you the 20% tip you'd swear you deserve very hard. Pay attention to your customers feet (my feet got stepped on at least eight times no exaggeration, you never know when your guest is wearing an $800 pair of shoes like me. Clear the plates when your guests are finished! I swear the bussers walked by our table all night but would never take the initiative and clear a plate. When you give a desert menu you could maybe recommend something. Do a better job of training your staff, it's not their fault they don't know what they're doing, look within!

Nice decor , good selection on menu , I ordered a skirt steak with carmalized onions ...they served me a 6 oz piece of meat for 30 dollars , ridiculous Had a baby spinach and goat cheese salad that was fantastic . service was good , beer wasn't cold enough . All and all I spent 85 dollars before tip AND I wasn't to happy with the place 30 DOLLARS FOR A 6OZ SKIRT STEAK IS RIDICULOUS

To the owner Do you have any idea how much money you are loosing every day? Inattentive staff, slow service means you loose orders (especially booze where you make an extremely good margin) as well as food, table turns, etc. Wise up! Btw the food is good.

Crap food. Bad service. Unappreciative owner/management. If you are coming for pretzel bread and cotton candy, go buy it at Fairway and save yourself time, aggravation and money! Amazing they have been playing this rip off game for so many years.

In my opinion, there are two things that make Grillfire stand out - the unique dishes they serve (i.e. soft pretzels instead of a bread basket, cotton candy with the check) and the ambiance. Everything else is just average. The buffalo dip was pretty tasty, but I was very disappointed with their entree selections. They are very overpriced for what they offer - I couldn't believe that it was an additional $1.50 per topping on a burger - ANY topping. It didn't even include cheese. I totally understand charging extra for extras because they are EXTRA but that price seemed a bit high. We ordered two burgers, both were cooked to opposite extremes and not at all what we had ordered. The salad was just a basic salad, nothing to be impressed by. Overall, I was disappointed. I have been here before and was hoping to have a better experience, but unfortunately I was let down again.

Though they do not take reservations, you can call a half hour before you come and they will put your name on the waiting list. Pretzels instead of a bread basket and ending the meal with fresh cotton candy are always a nice touch. The service is adequate. A good place to come for an enjoyable ladies night out. Stick with the skirt steak, it seems to be the meal everyone always enjoys. Tip - Park in the Zwanger Pesiri parking lot, much easier to find a spot and to get in and out of.

Tried to get a reservation for Saturday night. Called in the morning. They said they don't take reservations for four people. You can call a half hour before you come and we will put your name on the waiting list. I called back at 6:30 and was told there was a TWO AND A HALF HOUR WAIT. I hung up and went somewhere else to eat and I will never return. Stick your pretzels and cotton candy where the sun don't shine.

We arrived on a Tuesday evening. We were told that there would be a 15-20 minute wait. After 30 minutes, the polite young hostess pointed to our table that was being set up. At this moment, a couple walked in and the older manager ushered them over to that table. When I protested, the younger hostess assured us that they were clearing another table. We waited an additional five minutes. I expressed my anger to the young hostess an asked her to relay my message to the old manager. She never even came over to apologize, let alone offer a good will offer of a drink, coffee, anything. The food was mediocre, at best. Now I remember why we stopped coming here. Won't be going back.

We tried this place since we pass it all the time .. great food. Lets start with that because our burger and chicken pot pie was great and didn't wait too long for our food and our server was okay although she wasn't too friendly but she was attentive. The ambience is okay too, real dark but a clean place with a big crowd usually. Going to go back soon .. prices were good and again, the food we ordered was great. We're in our mid 20's and out for a date if that info helps anyone out

This is my 1st time eating here. I'm a big skirt steak eater. I get it alot when I'm out dining. I have to say that it was cooked to perfection. And the flavor was unbelievable. Definitely one of my top 5 steaks I ever had. And their drinks. I got the caramel martini. Wow!!! Very delicious. I will be going back soon that's for sure.

I was surprised, but I really enjoyed this place! I went in weary, with all of the 3-star reviews. Average food for an above average price is one of my biggest gripes about living on Long Island. But, this place really surprised me. We arrived around 8 to grab a drink before our 8:30 reservation for a friends birthday. The place was paaaacked. We had to stand in the doorway. We couldn't even make our way to the bar. When our friend finally arrived, it was a few minutes before our reservation and the hostess showed us to the lounge area to wait for our table. I urge everyone to make a reservation, because even with one, we waited half an hour to be seated. Not ideal, but it was a Saturday night, what are you going to do? When we were finally seated, our waitress immediately brought over a basket of pretzels. Clearly they weren't homemade, but they we warm and not stale, so I couldn't complain. Our drink orders were taken and then brought to us in a timely fashion. As were our appetizers. We ordered the buffalo chicken fondue and the spinach and artichoke dip. I am in LOVE with the buffalo chicken fondue. Creamy, strong blue cheese flavor, huge chunks of chicken, and some sweetness from the mango salsa it was paired to. It was perfect, not to mention the portion size was on point. The spinach and artichoke dip was a little boring. Too much garlic, not creamy enough. Oh well. The buffalo chicken was my suggestion, so I was pleased with myself. As for entrees, the birthday girl and her best friend ordered the Mac and cheese with sides of Caesar salads. They both really enjoyed it! My sister ordered the meatloaf with a side of whipped sweet potatoes and she was very pleased with her dish. My fiancé had the ribeye special with mashed potatoes and he was very satisfied. As for me, I had the steak and shrimp. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly and it was paired with amazing coconut shrimp. I opted for the mashed potatoes and they were rich and creamy and I was happy. Portions were large and prices were okay! I went in thinking it was going to be excessively expensive, but the price matched the portions and we were all very happy! The birthday girl chose the DIY s'mores as dessert and she loved it. It was a fun and delicious night and I really want to come back soon!

I am upgrading my review for Grillfire to 3 stars. I have been here a few times since my last review in 2012 and service has greatly improved. My last visit was on Thursday evening. I met my "X" here for conversation and cocktails. The bartender was very nice and made an excellent martini for me and bloody Mary for he. We moved to a table where we enjoyed hamburgers and fries. We finished our meal with gratis cotton candy. Food was very good and prices were fair. Grillfire offers great happy hour deals. They have buy one, get one cocktails, wine and beer. They also have specials on Svedka Vodka Martinis. A-OK!

Honestly I would just come back for the pretzels. But all the food was good. So were the drinks. I was tipsy off one. I thought it was really cozy too. And the cotton candy (although it's just cotton candy) is something fun to look forward to!

~My family and I have eaten at this Grillfire a few times and enjoyed it. Today I called to make a reservation and their hostess, Marilyn, told me they don't take reservations for 3 people and I said ,"oh, OK then we'll see you tonight." Instead of Marilyn saying something professional like, "Great we'll see you tonight", or "looking forward to seeing you" , she just rudely hung up on me. I was shocked when I heard the click. I called back to address her and she said she said "OK" before she hung up but she clearly did not. Food and service makes the success of a restaurant but the greeting staff sets the tone. I hope MANAGEMENT reads this review and they address Marilyn. She definetly needs to be more friendly and professional. A guest could certainly choose a different restaurant to patron if they are treated with such rudeness.

Went in for lunch today. That location has special meaning for my wife and I. When it Nick D'angelos we had our first date there so figured lets go"back" ughhhhh. Never again. 3 tables of people when we got there and took 45 mins to get a burger. My wife ordered hers medium it can out bloody rare. Like dripping rare. She cut it in half to show them. Sent it back to get cooked and they used the same patty. Big no no in restaurants. You cook her a new one. And do it right. Once you put beef or any meat back on flames you dry it out. Now onto the restaurant. Do you even clean?? The lamps above the tables were filled with dust bunnies, the wall in our booth had never been whipped down. Honestly if we saw this stuff before we ordered we would have left but being our food took forever to cook we had time to kill and look around. Sad. Had high hopes for this place but we will keep our memories and dine elsewhere.

I was there for my second time recently and was super excited because the food was absolutely delicious the first time. We had the wings and buffalo chicken fondue as appetizers. The wings are my favorite! As for the fondue is was delicious as well served with corn chips but next time i would just get it without the mango salsa on top. For my entree i had the steak sandwich. Pretty tasty, would just ask for the steak medium rare next time which i had forgot to say. Our server was very sweet and pleasant. The only problem i had was that they accidentally charged my card twice but this woman Liz (not sure if shes a manager or owner or anything like that) was so super nice and helpful and fixed everything for me! She even followed up to make sure it went through. And also sent me a gift card for the trouble! I will definitely be back.

Four of us had brunch today. 2 of us had the Lemon Ricotta pancakes($12 each)with different sides. One had Cheesy Eggs with Broccoli / Bacon with Greek yogurt and berries ($11) and the last person had Quesadilla Ranchero ($11) scrambled eggs, black beans,cheddar-jack,pico de gallo, avocado and ranchero sauce. The Cheesy Eggs and Quesadilla were a big hit. They were worthy of being a breakfast. The pancakes were pitiful. You received 2 very thin crepes -not even to be called pancakes- with a drizzle of a so called strawberry marmalade that's pathetic that you must use the maple syrup that is supplied. With Ricotta you kinda think heavy -not in this dish. It was MIA. Mind you $12 for 2 very thin pancakes -come on. PATHETIC. 3 =better 4= great. The side of bacon ($5) was a worthy amount but the sausage side ($5) was a sausage cut in half and another half. Decent, but 2 sausages might have saved the dish. Needless to say the two who had the crepes (pancakes) needed/wanted to go get breakfast at the diner.

Delicious food! My fiancé and I came here for my birthday on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar for about 30 minutes before being seated which was absolutely fine. We got the pretzels which were your standard frozen pretzel, but still a nice treat. For an appetizer we ate sloppy Joe quesadillas. Totally new concept to us and they were amazing! I got the crab cake BLT for my entrée, fiancé got shephards pie and we were both very happy with what we ordered. The fries were amazing! For dessert, we were complete fatties and got S'mores AND Belgian waffles. It was so worth it. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. We will absolutely be back I already recommended this place to a few friends!

I LOVE BRUNCH!!!!! It is my absolute favorite meal of the week, that's why I love Grillfire. They have a great brunch. No matter what I've ordered from there, the food was always so good. From the Omelette Lorraine, or the Silver Dollar Benedict, or just a plain old burger, I've never been disappointed. Brunch here is served with a complimentary cocktail (although their other location in Rockville Centre offers unlimited cocktails for an extra $6, sadly this location does not) and their starter before your meal are mini bagels and muffins. If you closer to the end of brunch though, you'll get their amazing warm pretzels which are just as great. The prices are reasonable, with the meal, an extra bloody mary and the tip, the bill came to about $23 per person. Not terrible by any means. But if you're looking for a low key, enjoyable place to relax and eat some great food, you just found it! Just a small note though, at prime brunch time (12-2PM) their fairly small parking lot is EXTREMELY full, so start looking for street parking after that.

Invited a colleague to lunch here. Had a really good experience. Never liked this place much in the past, but we had a great lunch. The portions were tremendous. Brought half of mine home. We tried the chicken paninnis from the specials menu.

This place should be renamed "Misfire". A stale uninspiring menu that just screams "high profit margin" with everything you see on it...Hot pretzels are the only thing this place has going for it....no cotton candy anymore after meal (was told it was broken) and watch the "suggested" tip calculations on the bottom of the check. The amounts are calculated off of the total amount to include tax, which I find shady. Order a steak medium well, it comes out medium-rare. I don't think the chef here is on top of things, every time I've been here, something is undercooked (pink chicken anyone?) I want to like this place but I always leave here asking one question, "why?" They are obviously not hurting for business...but you can give away my table....We're done with this place.....yuck!

A random pick to get out of traffic. Food was excellent. The waitress sweet and attentive. Quiet atmosphere so we could talk and hear each other. And the cotton candy w/ check sealed the deal for me! I haven't had cotton candy in years! What fun.

Average food with above average prices. Kids meal doesn't include a drink so add another $3 bucks for a small up of milk(yes you read that right 3 bucks for a milk for my son). The kids meal was $8 for two over done chicken fingers and fries. Ordered the bbq combo. Pulled pork tasted like something from a fast food place and the ribs were run of the mill. Burgers were nothing to write home about even though they charged $15. For a third the price I'll take a Five guys burger please. Brother ordered a $12 mixed drink didn't taste like they put any liquor in. My biggest beef is the fact they charge Nyc prices for average tasting food. Amazed this place was packed. Don't forget the bland tasting pretzels they give to the table. Guess people don't care about wasting their hard earned money.

One of George Martin's several chains, Grillfire is an "upscale" American style restaurant with a casual vibe. Located right along Sunrise Hwy, you can't miss it. With its giant logo, towering structure and colorful pallet it sticks out like a sore thumb. Grillfire is a cozy place with a pretty diverse menu of food ranging from hearty salads to some pretty mean sandwiches. I've had their MSM burger and their Baby Spinach and Goat Cheese salad. Regarding both meals, the items were thoughtfully prepared, flavorful and fresh. Qualities that are always sought out in food. They have specials during the week: -Monday Night Meal Deal, 3 Course Dinner for $17.95 -Tex-Mex Tuesdays -Wednesday Night is Ladies' Night! * -Thursdays Nights - Steak & Brew -Saturday and Sunday - The Great American Brunch - Served from 11:30am - 3:00pm *Ladies night is great. Instead of bread they bring you out warm pretzels which is a unique and fun twist. And for dessert they bring you a GIANT puff of cotton candy. I've never had that in a restaurant before which is very neat. Grillfire is great for a girl's night out, family dinners, a date, etc. Their diverse menu and interesting pairings make this place special.** **What's even more special? Grillfire is a nice place to go on a date or for dinner with friends, but I'm never really wowed by the food. The food is good but not great. What they do that I like is provide pretzels instead of traditional bread and every meal is wrapped up with cotton candy which is a refreshing change of pace. The service from what I've experienced is good, not overly friendly buy not the worst I've had. Its a solidly okay place. Not my favorite but I would return if it was suggested to me, not a first choice though.

3.5 ish....3....3.5 ugh I am in between on this one! Let me just take you through my meal so you have a better idea. Cute looking place, pretty clean, nice waitstaff....bus boys looked a bit confused, but hey he was like 16....we are all confused at that age! As soon as we got to our table we were given a basket with warm pretzels and mustard. Okay I am sorry to be THAT girl... but the pretzels were obviously right from the freezer. They were physically warm but were so dry and a little hard to bite. Which really sucks because how cool is it that a restaurant gives pretzels instead of bread. If that is like the cute thing they do, then they should make sure those are fresh! Instead of ordering entrees my family just ordered a bunch of appetizers. My mom was the only one who got sangria (which she said was watered down and basically tasted like fruit punch) the rets of us got water. we ordered wings.... they tasted like they came from a box... ehhhhh... better then most frozen wings I have had... but regardless... We got this buffalo chicken dip thing which we really enjoyed. It was creamy with chunks of chicken in it... junk food at its finest.... we liked it! then we got the mac and cheese which we all really loved a lot! Loved the type of pasta they use and it had just the right amount of cheesy and crunchy. We really enjoyed this dish! The last thing we ordered was a basket of onion rings and sweet potatoes fries. I know its just fried crap but I got to say those were some of my favorite onion rings (other then the outback steakhouse) and the fries were awesome. The fries had brown sugar or something like that sprinkled over them. SOOOOO GOOOD And of course lets not forget at the end of your meal they give you a complimentary cotton candy which was actually huge! My favorite dessert is cotton candy so I was literally in heaven! I was like a child. * One weird thing... they did not have any ranch dressing ???? WHO DOES NOT HAVE RANCH DRESSING.... WTF? So all and all in was an good dinning experience nothing amazing... nothing horrible... but they get extra points automatically for the cotton candy! I think I would come back here!

I live close to this restaurant and always wanted to go. I went for lunch on a Friday and everything was appealing to me on the menu so I thought that was a good start. However, the restaurant was 25 degrees so I had to bundle up while trying to eat. The service was terrible, no one seemed interested in helping anybody. We asked for ketchup 3 times, guess the third times a charm. My boyfriend and I both ordered burgers done medium, mine was rare and his was well done. Not at all cooked in anyway similar. Neither of us had the sauces that were supposed to go on the burger either. In all, I would go back. Bad service and terribly cooked food. I liked the menu options though, all items I would like.

I've tried the MSM Prime Burger, the American Kobe Beef Burger, and the Macroni & Cheese. The food has been consistently good; I've never had a problem regarding quality. Furthermore, I've always stopped by during off peak hours, so neither the service nor the temperature of the food have ever been a problem. Altogether, it is a nice neighborhood restaurant with a modern appeal.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
