Stopped in here for a bite, thanks to great Yelp reviews. Anita, chef and owner, and Laura Jean, our server were wonderful! Sit at the counter if you like entertaining, fun conversation. My husband, our friend and myself were getting a take out order but we had such a good time visiting, and the burgers were so big and juicy, that we decided to eat in. Our friend had the bacon, tomato and cheese sandwich, also delicious. Great local color and yummy food. Potato salad, macaroni salad and cole slaw all homemade and fabulous!

Chad's eSCAPE review. Interesting place and probably a hidden gem for diner enthusiasts. Service (+). The waitress was outstanding. I stopped here from the interstate to complete a presentation and needed a place to sit, work and grab something quick to eat. The waitress recognized this and immediately told me that she wouldn't bug me and told me to just wave when I was ready to order. Cost (+). Very inexpensive. I got a plate of spaghetti and meatballs and an ice tea all for $8 even. Everything on the menu was very reasonably priced. I believe the special was the most expensive thing I saw. Atmosphere. Very small and cozy inside. Only had a handful of tables and a few places at the bar. It was decorated very appropriately. Definitely a hometown and local establishment. The only downfall here was that it didn't have any sort of air conditioning and they had a box fan in the window. The temperature was fine but the noise of the fan was overwhelming in the small establishment. Palate. Small diner places like this either have a hidden gem in the kitchen or they don't. The special was spaghetti and meatballs and the dish was very plain. The sauce appeared to come from possibly a can and the meatballs were cooked independent of the sauce resulting in them being slightly dry. If you are going to have and advertise a special, it is important there is something "special" about it. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't anything I would remember or order again. Everything Else (+). I wish I took a picture of the outside. Without a sign you would have no idea this was a diner. It most likely was part of an old farm house turned to diner. For a neat, summer diner experience where it appears for the regulars that "everybody knows your name", this is a neat stop.

Stopped in early this afternoon for a bite before hitting the road. I'd been here one time before with my parents and remembered it being okay. Love the atmosphere! Small and cozy, lots of cute decor and very cleanly. Ordered an egg and cheese sandwich, it was pretty good. Service was good, prices very reasonable. Oh and great coffee! Will definitely try this spot again!

Back for lunch 9/1/15 and had a burger with mushrooms and cheese a good solid burger. Hash brown potatoes on the side, done perfectly just a little crispy. Cook and waitress one and the same very friendly and pleasant. Young lady handling the counter was shouting out men thanks for being men and keep being men also pleasant. A couple of small chicken coops in the side yard, probably not enough to supply all the eggs for the diner but interesting to watch.

The greatest little hometown diner in the area! Don't let the shabby-shack like appearance of this place make you think that the food is lacking. Amsterdams/esperences best kept secret...so cheap to eat, homemade everything.. this is how diners should be.

My wife and I decided to check out this place after getting tired of the service from the other Amsterdam diner and we're sure glad we did. The ladies that run South 30 are the best around. Very attentive and the food is delicious. We are quickly becoming regulars of this wonderful establishment.

OMG! The sausage is to die for. Huge portions, fun and friendly staff and the best damm price I've seen in a while. Very clean, nice country look and feel.

Such a great place, stopped by on our cross country road trip and we were greeted by a fantastic staff. The food is made right in front of you and is absolutely delicious. Very reasonably priced and an awesome atmosphere. I recommend the Kickin' Chicken sandwich (so good!)

This place is wonderful. The service was right on. The food was so delicious. The eggs were straight from the shell, not a carton :) I have am sensitive to onions, so they went out of their way, happily, to cook my potatoes on a separate pan. They even came back and asked me if it was ok if they cooked it with butter. The never seemed put out and were very kind and caring. I love this place and will always stop there on my way through. I live in Massachusetts and often drive through NY state. Thank you ladies! cute little place too! very cozy :) very comfortable. love it.

Don't bother going anywhere else for breakfast in Amsterdam, it won't compare to South 30 Diner!

Went to South 30 diner for first time on July 4th, 2014. What a fantastic place! All the staff of lovely ladies are cheerful, and they make their own sausage. I had the apple sausage, and it was by far the best sausage I've ever had. South 30 diner rocks!

Went to a 3 day music festival in upstate this past weekend. Stayed at a hotel down the street from this diner. Needed some fuel so I went and checked it out. It was absolutely amazing. Friendliest staff and delicious homemade food. Defiantly coming back when I'm around the area

We found this little diner only a couple miles south of the Thruway on Rt 30. It's a tiny building with a wonderful cook, local people, and smiles. The omelet was awesome and the burgers are huge and, get this, the cook came over to ask how we would like it cooked. If you like to find the local place--especially the local diner--this is IT.

Almost hate to share this one with people, but the South 30 Diner serves excellent homemade food and very reasonable prices. Whole menu is good, but there's also a terrific breakfast and lunch special each day.

Visiting family in Amsterdam, we stopped in on a cold and blustery Sunday. Everything I look for in a restaurant, including a friendly waitstaff. Reasonable prices, a few good-looking specials, and a simple menu to choose from. The breakfast we ordered was uniformly good and well-prepared. Comfortable, pleasant atmosphere. A really nice experience and I know we'll be back...
