The drinks were expensive and the waitress service was pretty lousy. It wasn't crowded at all so there shouldn't have been any reason to be so lax on the service. The staff was friendly enough, it just shouldn't take anyone 20 minutes to drop off the check. The food was a let down too. I had a turkey club, which consisted of bread and bland turkey. No cheese or condiments of any kind, for 12 bucks? Nope, never again. They at least have a huge bar and the place is pretty clean so I guess there's that.

Decent place to grab a few drinks before a Met game. Drinks are decently priced and food is ok...it's just a hot or miss in terms of portions. I would suggest the nachos, if you're really hungry. Definitely a decent alternative to stadium food. Service is decent as well. Overall nothing spectacular but decent.

A waste of time. Go to a better restaurant in any other part of the city before coming to the game, or set up a tailgate and grill your own food. First I ordered a Guinness and thought it tasted wrong - that was confirmed when a group of 6+ people came over to send back all their pints. I switched to a Sam Adams draft which also tasted funky. My wife ordered a Bud Light draft, and it tasted terrible too (besides the fact that it's Bud Light). We switched to bottles. The food is your typical cheap, fried bar food. Order some if you're having a few drinks and get hungry, but if you're looking to dine well this is not the place to go.

I went to the Mets game yesterday and coming off the subway, McFaddens had girls handing out cards for a free drink. I had not been in this place since a very bad experience 2 years ago where 2 draft beer brands we asked for were already out and it was only noon. Plus, the "hot" chicken sandwiches we ordered took a half hour to arrive and were ice cold. But, a free beer is a free beer, so I went. When I got there it was surprisingly not packed. There were seats available at the bar so I took one. The bartender was pretty and very nice. She took my Stella order right away and brought it quickly. That was the extent of the good service. Despite several bartenders on duty, none asked if I wanted another as my beer got to the bottom of the glass. I had to wave to get attention. I also saw 3 bartenders standing behind the bar chatting for a good 5 minutes without moving or bothering to see if anyone at the bar needed something. Not good. The only way I go back to this place is if I get another free drink card coming off the subway. Then I have my freebie and I'm outta there.

TWO STRIKES, YER OUT!!! Last night, June 15, 2012 Tony and I went to McFaddens @Citifield. They say history repeats itself and that theory was proved again last night. I met Tony and guests at the restaurant. They had been there for about 20 minutes ant the drink order which was placed when they first arrived got to the table the same time I did. Now this place is loud, ridiculously loud! We place our dinner order @ 5:40 PM. @ 6:45 I finally tracked down a server; (our server was dealing with a malfunctioning printer which supposedly was the reason for our food to be delayed). We waited an hour for our food. When our food finally it was cold; the burgers were moo-ing and the salads were limp. Silly me; I only asked for our food. I had forgotten to ask for utensils. You are better off going into the Stadium or getting food from a vendor on the street than eating or drinking here. This is just ANOTHER reason why I am not a Mets fan. Boo McFadden's!! You s@#k!!!

"sports bar" I don't think so. Went after a Mets game and while they have tons of TV's, they all had the exact same game on. Oh, and you can't hear the game, because some short, white DJ was blasting hip-hop music for the ugly bartenders to dance to on the bar. What a joke! If you're gonna dance on a bar, don't look like a dog.

Waste of time! 1st beer price not the best and not a big section. 2nd i ordered a long island ice tea which is supposed to have 5 different types of liquor and she only placed 3...at the end of the night the rush us out.. Than i noticed the dumb waitress gave me the wrong card. I go back to get my card they manger just tells me that they don't have my card... So that means someone else has my card.... And he doesn't even apologize... Like really it was your staff that messed up and i have to order a new card and don't even get a free drink for it?? staff is dumb and drinks not worth it... Never going back!

Biggest drawback is the 10 minute walk from the train. Other than that, this place is perfect for some pre-game drinks, haven from weather (cold, rain, heat). Beer is reasonably priced (shots always seem a bit too much) and the food is good. It can get crowded for the "bigger" games.

  • Greg M.

This place absolutely sucks. They treat their customers like paychecks and their employees seem disinterested and upset with the establishment. I actually witness a manager named Sean disrespect a female employee. When I asked to speak to a manager about it I waited 45 minutes, left and then wrote this message. I love the Mets but I think i'll tailgate on Bell and then train it in. Place suuuuuucks.

Such a great place with room to improve. 1st let's start with the beer selection. Small selection of beers. No craft beers available that will blow your mind. 2nd the DJ. Throws very out dated music very annoying always talking over the music. 3rd food service was horrible at the bar. Ordered sliders with fries they had a tooth pick in the sliders with a pickle and a cherry tomato on top of the bun instead of inside the burger. Also had some Chicken Quesadilla and Guacamole was dark green and looked like poop. I brought it to the bartenders attention and all she did was toss it in the trash. I think I'll stay away from McFaddens for now. Hopefully they will improve on my next visit.

I liked it more when I first went. There isn't much around Citi Field, so for many fans this is the only place they know. It's big. The place is not bad, not great, but sometimes fun and lively. Its right at the stadium. Worth a visit at least once. They have a DJ spin music, decent mix; and I even caught a band once, which was pretty decent actually. I've only had the beer so can't comment on the food. Beer list is slightly above average. Craft beer lovers will be disappointed. I usually go after a game for a beer before subway ride home.

    (2)
  • T P.

Food and grog is OK. Service was good. But the noise level was actually borderline painful, which ruined the experience. The loser DJ wouldn't STFU. Why was he there? Oh, and there is a attendant in the mens room - a creepy feature in a pub, and one more hand in your pocket too. Very ordinary at best.

Went there for the first time today. Arrived about 12:10 pm for a 1:10 pm game. The bartender came over quick enough and we ordered our first round. After that it was all downhill. The bar was not near half capacity, never mind full. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. And waited. And waited. Asked the bartender, since we were seated at the bar, "What's up with my sandwich". He said "They're working on it". My sandwich didn't arrive until 1:00pm. The bartender placed it in front of me and walked away. No place mat. No napkins. No utensils. No salt, pepper or ketchup. The hero sandwich was not even cut in half. And it was COLD. We paid for the beer and left. No tip. NEVER AGAIN.....But it has a great view of the junk yards across the street. ....Don't bother going here. The beer and food is the same price as if you were inside the stadium.

Apparently the free beer check in is not good for the mets/Yankee series. I really enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger. It was really good.

Absolutely disgusting!!! The food was gross. HORRIBLE PRESENTATION AND TASTED NASTY!! The staff is not attentive at all. The table next to me was complaining that they saw a roach in the bathroom...I'm afraid of what is in the kitchen!

Located behind Citi Field. Good for beers before or after a Mets game and to watch Sunday football. Sunday football specials include 10 cent wings, $6 pitchers of Bud and Coors Lite and $1 sliders. Wings are quality. Sliders are a little questionable, but ok to order a couple. They aren't much different than a White Castle belly bomber. Packed during baseball season, but easy to find a seat in the off season. Don't have to worry about trying to find a parking spot either when you can park in the Citi Field lot. Nice alternative when you want to change things up. When are they going to knock down the chop shops?!?!?!?

NEVER coming here again. I purchased a Mets ticket deal with my friends. It was $35 for an hour open bar before the game, one appetizer each, a ticket to the game, and a free drink once the game was over. Our waitress (Jennifer), seeing our bracelets, took our order and (eventually) brought us our food. As we were leaving, the waitress came over to us and said that we owed money for the appetizers, informing us that the only app that qualified for this promotion were the buffalo wings. WHAT? We told her that the promotion on the website, the confirmation email, and the free app card said no such thing. She claimed that the promotions manager (Stephanie) told us about the wings when we walked in. Nope. We asked her to get Stephanie so we could settle the matter. Not surprisingly, Stephanie would not come out of her office. Such a professional! After arguing with the waitress (who also claimed to be a manager), she cut our bill in half. Not good enough. We made it clear that we were not paying a cent, and she eventually backed down. (Only after calling Stephanie "retarded" three times.) Needless to say, we were all appalled with the lack of professionalism (and decency) of the staff at McFaddens. I'll be sure to forward my complaints to ALL of the necessary people at Citifield and McFaddens.

Lots of bad reviews , but i have been here several times and had some great times. a True mets fan bar. i only have been here before and after mets games. and if you decide to go after the game, go after a win !!! Its like a nightclub after the game but that makes it all the more fun. girls dance on the bar, and pour free shots directly from the bottle into your mouth. Before the game you will get the sports bar feeling.. after the game nightclub..

Good place to catch a drink before or after a Met game. The liquor and beer selection is pretty good and the music is always fun. I wouldn't order any food though- we got the boneless wings and they were frozen we couldn't even eat them - yuck!

  • Michael B.

This is a great spot for drinks before or after a game at Citi Field, it's huge, gets a good crowd of enthusiastic Mets fans, plays some fun party music with lively DJs and the prices are reasonable. Two big problems: the service and the food. I've been hear about five times and there has been a dispute or question about the bill twice and unbelievably slow service every time. That's just for drinks. Today, with the Mets playing the Yankees, me and two friends arrived early, were seated in back by the employees' changing room and ordered burgers and sandwiches from the pub-style menu, my first time trying the food. It was probably a good 30 minute wait, during which the waiter never checked our drinks and when asked, a busboy told us he was not our waiter. I had a Budweiser bottle, but the waiter brought a plastic cup of tap Bud for the second, mumbling something about the bar being out of bottles. If that was even true, it was certainly bad timing with the Subway Series going on at the ballpark. Note to McFadden's: Budweiser is a somewhat popular beer. The food was below average pub fare, and my burger was cold. With tip, our bill came out to $130 (with three rounds of drinks staggered over varying arrival times.) At least there was no dispute about the bill this time.

Giant sports bar right next to the stadium? This place COULD be a goldmine if their staff was properly instructed- the place gets packed after the game, and, I would imagine, if the Mets were doing better, it could attract a large crowd during the games. They offer $3 beer specials - a perk for those of us who just paid $8bucks at the ballpark. However, and this is a giant "however," their bouncers ought to be instructed to treat their guests with some courtesy. My friends and I were sitting at an outside table. No one was drunk, loud or unruly in any way. An hour or so after the game, we were told that we had to go inside because the outside was closing. We milled about for about 5 minutes, gathering up our stuff etc., and the big 'ol bouncer was very rude. Not the way to handle a crowd of 8 who were quietly sitting. So we moved inside where the music was too loud for the now-present crowd. $3 beers, so we stuck around. Then closing time came (7:30pm???) and the bouncers were once again pushy, rude and aggressive with our quiet group. Took away beers that were still being consumed, accused our group of harassing the DJ... Bottom line - eventually Citi Field will draw a crowd. Management at this place needs to instruct their bouncers to treat potential future customers with some respect, courtesy and professionalism. I went to another game 3 days later and did not return to McFadden's - nor will I. Oh - my first cocktail came equipped with a Trident gum wrapper suspended inside and my friend's water came with a buggy floater. Ew...

  • James C.

The bar staff is awful and un-attentive - even on a quiet night. Was like pulling teeth to get anyone's attention, either for a drink or to order food - and this was while sitting AT THE BAR!! Food left something to be desired as well. No intention of returning!!

    (1)
  • Jason N.

I had been here a few times last season for a quick beer before or after the game and thought it was ok enough. Went last week and had a terrible experience. I witnessed the Bouncers being overly aggressive and physical with a guy who they claimed "wasn't dressed properly"?? your a sports bar outside a baseball stadium???? I also witnessed "manager's" being rude to both patrons and staff. One gentlemen in particular, Shawn or Steve was especially unprofessional and dismissive which is completely unacceptable. If you can't act like a courteous professional you should not be in the hospitality industry. As a former restaurateur and a met's season ticket holder, I can assure you I nor any of my friends will ever set foot in this place again. There are way more professional and friendly environments that I can buy overpriced beers and generic bar food at. Always a shame when the employees are the downfall of what could be a good establishment.

In my personal opinion, you can go to the best top notch hardest clubs to get into in Manhattan but when it comes down to just having a fun time this is the place to go. All of 2nd Ave has good bars and this is one of my favorites. I love the scene, the crowd, the music, the bartenders, the drinks, everything. there is literally nothing bad to say about McFadden's I always have a great time and if you feel like bar hopping theres a great bar on every block.

Really its Zero Stars but you cant not put a star. Ok we get there ordered drinks which came out in a reasonable amount of time. Ordered; Spinach Dip first, and said "we are going to start with..." My daughter and I split the Chicken Wrap and FF's. Hubby and son get burgers. And we are waiting, and waiting, and waiting nothing we didn't even see our server anywhere. Finally we see her and she claims its coming out NOW, which it did our dinner with the Appetizer. What the hell???? Ok so here how it go's I take half of the wrap and some fries my daughter takes the other half. Keep in mind its a CHICKEN WRAP!! There's NO chicken in the chicken wrap. WHAT the hell?? It was bits of bacon (which I knew was in there, BBQ sauce, a very small piece of tomato.) THATS it. I couldn't eat it because I really dont eat pork product's just because I skeeve the animal. So my hubby gave me part of his burger , I had to spit it in a napkin why?? I'll tell ya, it was pure grease and fatty tasting. The Spinach Dip was cold so it had been sitting in the kitchen waiting to come out as a appetizer. Again NO IDEA were the sever is and my kids were begging me not to complain. So I didn't. Finally got the bill, paid and ran out of there. My revenge I saw some people around my age and said it was by far THE WORSE MEAL EVER... DONT DO IT. PS. The tables are grossly sticky. What the hell?

  • Marisa V.

We went on a Friday before a Mets game, so it was pretty packed. We were sat in about 30 minutes. Our server was swamped, but she was still cheerful and attentive. The food was good, my only complaint is that they had a DJ and the music was extremely loud. I get that it was a pregame affair, but I felt like I was at Vegas club. All in all, I would go back.

  • michael f.

Did the VIP package with a bunch of friends and had a great time. The bartender was very nice, very quick and not cheap with the booze. The food was basic bar fare. The bar itself is a nice place to stop before a game or to drown your Met caused sorrows after one. Place is staffed by attractive young ladies, just like the Long Island location and they have a good beer selection.

    (3)
  • Tracy R.

It's a sports bar. I got the VIP package which is awesome, you get tickets to the game and an hour open bar before the game. You also get free apps and a drink after the 7th inning. All that alcohol made the Mets tolerable for me. You have to get there early to get a space at the bar, but the bartender were pretty good at coming by and taking my order even though I had an open bar tag. (A lot of bartenders try to ignore you for paying customers). The wings, chips are the usual bar food. I haven't eating a meal there but don't expect much.

    (3)
  • Isabel J.

If you have tickets to Citifield or just want to come here for drinks its always a good time. This place its huge with plenty of seats, the bar stools are really big I feel like you could fit two people on them but I never tried. I usually end up here before or after a game since there is always a great vibe. The bartenders are nice and fast. The food is nothing special just bar food but it hits the spot. At night they do play music and it becomes sort of like a sports bar.

    (4)
  • Raymond R.

Worst D.J Ever, under any circumstance. He BLASTS, I mean BLASTS his music at the highest volume possible. I'm in my 20s and would go there after games, except I know he's going to be there and everything social revolves around him. You can't talk to girls, your friends, hear the bartender, because this DJ Doesn't have idea one how to play /adjust music. He's also trashed on a bottle of Jameson that he has on his booth. I like to say that I'm a Party Cruise bartender and work with a ton of DJs and this guy at McFadden's must be a relative of the owner who's living out some dream of DJ-ing, cause there is no real reason to have him around. Horrible on Management's behalf to keep him. P.S Do not go there if you have any type of hearing problem, issue or use a hearing aid. Took my hearing impaired Uncle to McFadden's for the all Star Game, had to leave early and his head was buzzing because of the volume.

Great selection of beers. The setup is a little confusing when you first enter. I watch lots of people go around and sit at tables before going to the hostess seemed to be a big problem. Got the buffalo wings they were average.

As a place to have a beer before or after a Mets game, this place isn't awful. It's huge and can get really packed but the bartenders seem to hustle. I didn't try to eat any food so can't comment on that. It is about what you'd expect from a faux-Irish pub that servers huge volumes of beer to your basic bros and their female counterparts.

    (3)
  • Lisa R.

I always come here to drink my first beer before the game and sometimes go back after the game. I usually just get the beers because their mixed drinks are always watered down, womp womp. Three stars because I always have to wait minimum 10 minutes for a bartender to finally attend to me and my first experience with water down vodka and soda.

    (3)
  • Clemente M.

Considering its a a pub that's attached to a major sports stadium, you would think that it would be grossly overpriced, and a waste of time to visit. The truth is that that would be a gross stereotype, and an unfair statement to make about this friendly little corner at Citi Field. Truth be told, while the items on the menu could use some improvement, the prices on the food and alcohol are VERY reasonable. Totally worth popping in to grab a beer (or three) before the game.

    (3)
  • Justin M.

Came here before and after the game. Was packed both times so be aware! Decent beer list and I love craft beer. Have never eaten there yet but once I do I will update my review. Expensive but expected

Was here Friday before the Zac Brown Band concert and had a blast! Love that the space is so open and big so you don't feel like you're on top of people. Nice crowd, friendly bartenders. Drinks were a tad expensive but hey, that's New York!

  • EG G.

SERIOUSLY. What a terrible place. Please please avoid this place. The peoole who work here are completely incompetet. And the service is extremely slow. I am very patient with these kinds of bars but I had to wait 30 minutes to even get water. My buddies warmed me not go here but I didn't listen. Huge mistake. Once the food finally arrived, my buns were soggy and my fries were cold. I complained and they seemed extremely annoyed. I decided to leave and eat crappy ballpark food instead.

  • Corey W.

Ive been to over 30 baseball stadiums, and this has to be the worst sports bar in the nation. Total shitshow. Sound system is the absolute pits, literally blasted all about the bass with no treble, which from an acoustic perspective, doesnt actually work especially when theres no sound dampening. Food is disgusting, beer and drinks overpriced. Undersized bathrooms for such a large space. Outdoor "patio" with a fantastic view... of the auto yards! Would someone please build a better bar outside of Citifield? This type of obnoxious place reminds you why some people hate America.

I went here a year or so ago and remember it being a good time with good food. So when my boyfriend suggested going here before the game with his dad to grab a drink and dinner, since they both have never been, I figured great idea! Not so much... The menu from what I remembered had a big selection, this time around I was handed a post card with the basics. Burger, wings, nachos, and wraps. Ok, I guess they wanted to simplify their menu? So I got the wings which were prob the best from what we all ordered. But then again you cant really screw up wings. My boyfriend got the nachos which were gross! There was more cheese and toppings than chips. My boyfriends dad got a burger and as he put it, its a generic burger. There were flies flying around the restaurant and the tables werent cleaned. If anything I would only come back here for the drinks. I would not eat here again at all! Id rather save my money and get good ol' ball park food.

    (1)
  • Alan L.

It's a decent sports bar to pregame and come after a New York Mets game. If you are trying to eat here it is a terrible place to come to. Staff does not clean the tables for you right away. You must grab a table for yourself. The staff takes forever to come to you if want drinks from the bar. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and tater tots. The bacon cheeseburger came out very cold. Tater tots were cold and very soggy. Terrible place to eat before a game.

Don't know what to say about McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon, but I can tell you that my experience was a bomb. Not a bomb that was a wow or boo-ya good, but why did I come here. McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon is a large open space attached to Citi Field. The huge rectangular bar can accommodate 75 plus seats at the bar and a couple of hundred patrons between the inside and outside patio. It can accommodate large groups, it has plenty of dining room tables for food service and well place TVs throughout. Service was OK, but the staff looked like they had a rough night and this was at 4 PM. Wannabe something college bartenders not my cup of tea any more. When you have the word "Saloon" in your name, give me old school bartenders. Strike 1, ordered a Bud Lite and I got one of those metal bottle style cans. I just hate these, but when in Rome, blah, blah, blah. I guess what I don't like about these bottles is the taste. Just don't like. Ball 1, checked in with Yelp and receive a free draft of Bud or Bud Lite. Thank you Yelp. Strike 2, Bud Lite draft was nasty. The beer line went skunk. Time to go. Overall, McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon has seen better days. It seem worn and old. It has a captive audience. There are no options in the area. It is the only place that is open before Met games in the area. I guess it is hit or miss style place.

Horrible service. Don't eat the food. Just go for drinks if your desperate I'll stay in the stadium and over pay before I comeback here. Management is no where to be found, place is run by kids.

Slow service. Didn't honor the free beer promised by Checking in on Yelp. Who would've knew?

    (1)
  • Linda P.

Came here before a Mets game. There was a free bud light with check in, but it all kind of went down hill from there. The service was very slow (table service) and I am pretty sure our waiter was on something... who knows. The food was the quality of my high school's cafeteria, but I was hungry so I ate it anyway. I will not be revisiting this place any time soon.

Great bar to eat and/or have a beer before a game. Field entrance from bar. Pretty cool

    (5)
  • Chris L.

Good place for a beer before and after the game. Obviously much more fun with a Mets win but that's less than a 50/50 proposition these days. At the time we were there, they were offering free shots to any ladies that wanted to get on the counter and dance with the bartenders. Expect a typical divey sports bar, I didn't order any food since the food inside the park is so good.

    (3)
  • Lisa A.

This place is GIGANTIC. Good place to have a couple beers pre-game. If you check-in on Yelp you get a buy one, get one free Bud light or draft. Good deal. Post-game? Ehhhh...not so much. The drunk forever frat boy factor is significantly higher at that time. Just go home already. *I cannot comment on the food, just the beer and Jameson pickleback shots ($10!! Yikes)

    (3)
  • Michael S.

I like coming here for a beer after a mets game. But the place has changed a lot over the years as far as menu selection that use to be big is now a post card size with the basics. And there always were good beer deals too that they don't have anymore. Also what happened this year to the lucky charm girls ? Any time I went to a game they were non existing. They use to be out and about promoting the bar and up coming events at McFadden's.

    (2)
  • Steph C.

Place is nice. This was my first time here and they did take the check-in for the free budlight which was great The dj they had playing. I thought had a great vibe with mix of music. On a nice night its nice to be on the outside tables After the game the line to get into McFaddens gets long. Whether the Mets win or Lose.

    (4)
  • Mitch E.

When I think of McFaddens in Manhattan I cringe. All the Lexington, 3rd Avenue, 2nd Avenue, Murray Hill and Sutton Place bars suck. I despise them. One day I'll write a review for all of them, describing how awful they are. Though I'm pretty sure I can just copy and paste each one. I was skeptical of a place with the same name, though this place ain't that bad. First off, when you check in you get a free beer. Unfortunately it's a Bud or Bud Light, but hey it's free! There are not many options to drink before you head into the stadium, this is your best option. The bar is nice. It's large. Serves good food, has music and seating for those wanting to have a sit down meal. It can get packed by the bar but you can find some space near the back. Good place to hit up before or after a game.

Let's face it - you don't have a lot of options when it comes to pre-gaming at Citi. But McFadden's does a fine job. They have decent specials before you head in and if you stay during the game. And honestly even if you have tickets to see this mess of a team you're probably better off staying here anyway. Ugh...Wilpons...brutal

Stopped in this past Saturday afternoon so my group could get their free beer following completion of the Spartan Race next door at Citifield. When we went to the bar, the place was crowded (naturally), a majority of the draft bars were gone, and there were only two bartenders working. I finally decided on a Corona Light draft. When I asked for a lime slice, I was told they were all out of limes. A trip to the bathroom was welcomed with disgusting floors, and lack of paper towels. You are a large bar that looks like you are able to handle a large capacity. Knowing that you were where the bar runners were directed to in order to get their free beer, and that the Spartan Race draws thousands of runners, (1) how did you not have enough beer ordered? (2) how did you not have enough fruit for drinks, (3) why did you only have two bartenders working, and (4) why were the bathrooms as gross as I would anticipate seeing at 2am on a Saturday night?

Listen, the Mets suck, so I could be really negative about this place, but I will not. McFaddens opened when the new Citi Field opened in 2009. Is it the best bar, no. Is it a great place before seeing another Mets loss, no. But it is something that long time Mets fans who went to Shea never had, a bar to hit before the game at the stadium. Sure, you could have hit Woodside or Sunnyside then hop on the 7 train in the 70's and 80's before the game, But at least here you are at the park and feel like you are actually at a baseball game. A big plus is that there is a smoking area connected to the bar. I've met a number of nice, genuine people there, and it was fun hanging out. Count the number of planes heading into LaGuardia, it's fun! The staff is nice, especially the young hotties they have serving beers. It's nice to scam on a nice rack or a butt pre game, we all know we do, and they gals are super friendly. I do not eat at bars, neither should you, so I will not comment on food. Go to a bar to drink, go to a restaurant to eat. Stop in if you want. If not, do a tailgate in the lot, or, if adventurous, hit a few local Jackson Heights places pre, or post game. You may not like what you find, unless you're into skiing:)

This place is a joke, terrible service from the bartenders, they dont honor their specials or coupons. I guess they don't realize the only people that would ever go to this place are mets fans.

McFadden's used to be my go to place before a Mets game, however with their new changes for this season I see little reason to ever go back. In the past I would go to McFadden's for a nice sit-down/waitress service meal before the game. The food was never incredible, but it was quality bar-food that was different than what you would get inside citifield. Here is a link to the old menu for reference: web.archive.org/web/2013… Now, the place is a joke. You wait on a line to get low-quality, precooked food that is terrible by any ballpark's standards. I ordered chicken fingers....they came in a paper bag and were cold before I even could get back to the table....My friend ordered sliders, or what looked like sliders, we couldn't really tell because they were crushed into a meat-bread ball from the tin-foil they were packaged in. If I were to ever go back it would be to fight the college-like atmosphere at the bar to grab a beer and then scavenge for any of the up-for-grabs tables. The food is tremendously better and even the beer selections are more diverse within the stadium. Bring back the old menu and sit-down/waitress service!

Good place to grab a cold beer, a shot, and some bar food before heading into a Mets game. Reasonably priced (especially compared to the prices in the stadium). Just get there early on big game days and/or weekends because it can get VERY crowded quick.

I'm rating this place as a bar because I have yet to sit at the tables and order food here. I see negative reviews on here, and that is a bit surprising, because all the bartenders, whether male or female are always on point with getting our drinks! Even the managers are cool! The service is extremely friendly! From the entrance and to the bar, everyone here is awesome! This is a great place to pre-game before the game, after the game, or just to watch a game on the screens!

This is not a restaurant. It's just a sports bar, inside is huge, expect a typical college bar scenery. You will have a hard time making it to the bar so just get two while you're at it. It's packed during games and the DJ plays good music but there was a sign says "no dancing allowed per MGT"? Still, the DJ was asking the females to dance on the bar so were the bartenders. Didn't see anyone eating so not sure of they serve food. Good for groups.

We have gone here before going to a Met game at least 5 or 6 times. Always had a pleasant experience. Loved the burgers. Wait staff was never very good, but it was fine. Went there for the first time this season, on Mother's Day. Surprised to see there was no more table service for food. You have to order and pay, then wait for them to call your name. Food came wrapped in foil, in a box, just like you would get in the stadium at a concession stand. The food was clearly pre-cooked. The burger was tasteless, the fries were not hot. My son ordered buffalo wings that he said were OK. The celery that came with the wings were also foil wrapped and kind of wilted. Overall, it was awful. We will not eat here again.

I have had mixed experiences here, but I think I would still come back. There have been times when the staff is super friendly and helpful and other times where there has been a complete lack of communication. Their bar food is pretty good, but a bit pricey for certain serving sizes. I would definitely recommend the nachos which are plentiful, but the boneless wings are hit and miss. Mozzarella sticks are pricey for some pre-frozen apps, so you can skip that as well. Other than that though, this place is a good spot to pregame before a Mets game and way cheaper in that respect! I'll most likely be back to pregame next time as well!

This is the place to go when you arrive at citifield early without a ticket. Decent bar/grill restaurant. The drink service is much better than for the food. Friendly bartenders and decent mixed drinks. Bathrooms are a step up from the outdoor port-o-potties - but there are bathroom attendants to make you feel uncomfortable while you do your business. Does anybody actually like bathroom attendants?

This is my first time writing a review online but, I had to put this out there because of the atrocity that is this bar. The staff is made up of a bunch of juveniles that threw cups and napkins at each other, waitress climbed over the bar and played some bean bag toss game, all while ignoring the hell out of costumers. This establishment (and I use the term extremely loose) should be embarrassed and should do some serious overhauling.
