After living in Queens for almost 20yrs and hearing about this place since I was in High School...I finally tried this well known pizzeria and I must say I was quite pleased! No...it it definitely not the best I've had, but it is a top contender...the crust was the right amount not too thick not too thin, it was SAUCY (which I LOVE), and cheesy! The only reason I didn't five it 5 starts is cause I tried the beef patty and that wasn't so great...but most TRUE italian pizza shops dont even sell Beef Patties. . Oh and I will be returning to try the meatball sub because I saw when someone ordered it and it looked DELICIOUS!

When you're looking for old school, New York City pizza with cheese that you can pull a foot long and the grease that runs out onto the plate when you fold it - this is it! Aaahhh, what memories it brings back. I can boast this delicacy has been a Jamaica Queens favorite for over 40 years I can remember the J train from Brooklyn used to stop on Jamaica Avenue and I was only 6 or 7 and I knew I was getting a treat. Not but a hand full of seats, and the decor has been yhe same since it opened, but that becomes oblivious once you get that slice in hand. eNo need for toppings, just have at it raw with an ice cold Snapple and you'll never forget it. And Sicilian lovers, be prepared to enjoy the perfect ratio between sauce, dough and crust... It's pizza paradise!

Best pizza hands down!! Margherita's is consistent....I've been a customer for over 10 years (I won't date myself anymore than that lol). On the go or making a pit stop, it's convenient and DELICIOUS!

  • Staci R.

The BEST pizza ever. I lived in Queens for 25 years and frequented Margherita for about as long as I can remember. Margherita has always looked the same: A long counter leading up to about 4 tables in the back, and tasted the same: DELICIOUS I've tasted pizza in many different parts of the US, Italy, and other parts of Europe and Margherita is the BEST! I appreciate the fact that in all the years I have been coming to Margherita it hasn't changed. The taste and quality of the pizza has remained the same. I no longer live in NY but I stop by here everytime I'm in town. I even had it for breakfast the other day. LOL.

Great pizza here . This is a Jamaica Ave classic . If your shopping on Jamaica ave make sure you stop here . The fruit punch is a must. Pizza is prepared fresh so there's a great chance of you burning you mouth if you eat it too quick .

Been eating here for over 20 years and yes it still taste the same, which is amazing. Words can't even describe this pizza, my friends come from all over the world just to have this pizza. Now this place should be on the travel channel if it isn't already. There is no parking but who cares.

  • Brittney C.

Absolutely scrumptious pizza! Quick service, even though there's almost always a line. A go-to, must-have pizzeria.

  • Chante A.

Great pizza! I've been buying pizza from this shop for over a decade now and they have never failed to satisfy my appetite. I must say that the wait time is a bit longer than the average pizza shop. I once waited 45 mins for a regular pie, which was pretty annoying. Great pizza , Long lines .

  • Salimah A.

This Establishment have been in Jamaica Queens for over 50 years, this is by far the best pizza in Jamaica Queens I have been going there since high school and college and so forth and so on. If you love pizza this is a must check out spot when you come to Jamaica Queens there is a line but it goes fast.

  • Keri S.

Margherita Pizza's cheese slice is in my top five all time favorite slices...and I've been to Italy and was born and raised in New York. The cheesiness is exactly what makes this slice so desirable. This is not a slice to have on a first date...this is a slice to savor and enjoy and not care about the sauce you just smeared all over your face. The only con is the wait out the door!

    (5)
  • Willy O.

Great pizza!! The only problem is it gets very crowded very quickly during lunch. You're lucky if you get to sit while you enjoy their great pizza

This is my new fav NY STYLE pizza place!! The pizza is always fresh the sauce is just the right amount and the cheese its so fresh and yummy. I can't really describe it, it's just something that you have to experience. Its in the heart of jamaica ave so parking is rough around there. The place is a whole in the wall but we all know never judge a book by its cover!!!

    (5)
  • Christopher M.

Cheesy, saucey, greasey= yummy!! Would of gave them 5 stars If it wasn't so expensive for a slice of pizza.

  • CJ M.

Hands down the BEST pizza in queens. I've been coming to this place for 15 years and the pizza tastes just as good then as It does now. I LOVE THIS PIZZA

Best pizza in the world! been coming here since I was a baby.. The taste is the same! Yummy cheesy crusty pizza! You'll love it from beginning to end! My mom used to bring me here when I was little. Now I bring my son lol nothing tops this pizza!

    (5)
  • Melissa C.

Pizza was pretty good. Average pizza I guess . Place doesn't accept debit cards which is annoying . There's a small seating area. And the pizza is kind of pricey to me but I would still go back .

  • Tracey H.

Let me be real with you, for $2.75 a slice this place can do a lot better! I've been coming here since I was a kid (for over 30 years) and the pizza is not what it used to be. I think it is due to cheaper ingredients. In fact, I recently ate here with a colleague (an Italian man from Brooklyn) who said it was mediocre at best. Margherita's may be among the best of Queens, but Umberto's of New Hyde Park, Grimaldis (in Garden City, NOT Brookyn) and Lombardis all offer superior pizza. I even hear Table 87 in Brooklyn is up and coming. As a side note, when I was here a few years ago the owner's brother (or brother-in-law) called a female customer a bitch. Talk about customer service at its finest!

    (3)
  • Elvis C.

A dingy hole in the wall, in which you could walk right by it and not even notice it was there. If you catch the aroma that comes out of this place it's unbelievable. One of the best pizzas I have eaten in Queens my whole life. If you are in the area you have to try a slice, the must pump out 100's of pies a day. The slices are always super hot, because they can't keep them on the trays. This place has been there for as long as I can remember and will probably be there for our future generations. Pass it on my friends!

    (5)
  • Bruce M.

Ordered 2 slices, they were given to me with in 1 min of ordering them. They were DELICIOUS. So cheesy and and their sauce is PERFECT! Margharita Pizza was on point today

  • Sergio L.

Very good, I am a pizza connoisseur. Not your regular slice, This place is great and the people behind the countr/owners are extremely down to earth and bunch of nice guys who joke around. Classical music is playing at all times. Best experience i've had while going to a pizza joint.

As a native of Southeast Queens(Linden Boulevard represent represent!!(c)Q-Tip), I will tell anyone, and defend to the very last bit of life my love for the rich, wholesome goodness of a slice fresh from the oven of Margherita Pizza. Not only have I grown up on the fare from this establishment, so have my brother and sisters. As well as damn near everyone I know. Yeah, the spot is a hole-in-the-wall. Think about it in this manner - they've been around since the 1960's, as much an anchor of Jamaica Avenue as other places. And it doesn't mean that you won't have lines heading out of the door. I've seen people balk at the price of a slice. Look, you can get a dollar slice almost anywhere these days. But, do you want a slice you can savor? Or do you want a slice that's like the career of one of these radio rappers - fast, hard to ascertain and barely any flavor? A Margherita slice is hard to top, trust me. Margherita is a staple. I've got homeboys who have moved out of state who, the moment they touch NY soil, have to hit up the spot just once. Trust me, the pizza and the experience is worth it.

    (5)
  • Steven L.

2.75 for a slice seemed kinda high for the Jamaica area, but the slices are always hot and freshly made. Best pizza in the area.

    (4)
  • Shannon P.

You can't tell me the pizza at this place isn't good. Always the perfect pizza slice here. Hot, cheesy, and tasty. And they have an excellent crust which is crucial to any good pizza. I like to put a few dashes of black pepper and parmesan cheese on the top of mine here. Delish!!!

    (5)
  • Kala j.

This place never disappoints!!!!! A queens staple.... Yes, you wait a long time, but it's worth it! The pizza is ALWAYS consistent. Which for me is key! As I say "you Betta get IN where you fit IN." lol if not you will be a wall flower and won't get your slice. Haha so be patience and you won't be disappointed.

    (5)
  • Christine S.

Only come for a stop and eat in. The pizza is at its best right then and there! It's been the best since I was little some 20+ years ago.

  • Orrin L.

Went here for the first time in 07 when I was attending York College and I been hooked ever since. If you went to York you know this is the only place to get Pizza from. I took my fiancee here and she got hooked. I would drive from Brooklyn to Jamaica Ave just for a slice. That's how good this Pizza is. The price for a slice is high, but it is well worth it. I recommend this place to anyone who loves pizza or those visiting NYC for the first time. My opinion, best pizza in the City. There are some good spots in Brooklyn too, but not like Margherita's.

    (5)
  • Cyan R.

Believe the hype. The pizza here is absolutely incredible. If you're looking for NY style pizza and you're in the area, you can't miss with this pizza. So good, cheap and reliable. Been here maybe a thousand times and I have yet to have a bad slice.

    (5)
  • TJ M.

Best pizza in Queens...hands down. This place has been on the ave for decades. They even had another location on Jamaica Ave & 160th back in the day (bet a lot of u youngins didn't know that). My moms used to go here after school in the 70s, me in the 90s & now my daughter & friends go here regularly. Though I don't hit the ave often anymore. Every time I do, I make sure to get a slice w/ a large fruit punch.

    (5)
  • Brittany A.

Some of the best pizza in Queens. Honestly. Unfortunately you're going to be standing up at the counter with a bunch of people you probably don't know AND with out a doubt the pizza is going to burn the roof of your mouth. Phenomenal though. You have to try it if you haven't.

    (4)
  • Maria M.

Its small, but has the most delicious pizza in queens!!!! Its always busy because everybody wants to eat their pizza. Made to perfection!

    (5)
  • David K.

The pizza is always hot. Prices a bit high though, considering the neighborhood. And.... Considering the fact that just a couple of blocks away there is another neighborhood Pizza place that has a lot more space inside for customers who want to eat-in, also has hot pizza, and (if all you want is a cheese slice) sells them for $1 each. On its own, Margherita Pizza would do well. But had to take one star off for the very limited space inside for customers. Only a handful of tables. There is a counter in the back where customers can stand and eat, but even that one is very short and can barely accommodate less than a handful of customers. The space just behind the front counter where customers stand to give their order is far too narrow. During lunchtime, you're constantly bumping into people all the time. That space fills up very quickly. The food is good. But just make sure you get it to go, and you'll just have to deal with the headache and hassle of being horribly overcrowded at lunchtime when you do get your food. Normally, I don't like comparing two similar businesses, but had to take off another star because Margherita Pizza just isn't competitive with the other Pizza place literally a couple of blocks to the left, when you're facing the front entrance to Margherita Pizza. I'm sorry, but they're just too close together in the same neighborhood. The other place has much more space inside, hot food too, good tasting pizza too (though Margherita's pizza is a bit better in taste), but the prices are a lot better at that other Pizza place. And considering that the neighborhood is far from a rich one, the difference in price is going to be a huge factor.

I've been coming to this spot since I was a kid with my mom and it hasn't changed a bit. I swear that little Spanish man that looks like super Mario has been there as long as I have been going. I don't know what they put in the sauce but it's amazing and I can't even begin to describe the cheese it's not like any other that I have had before . Although Margherita's isn't big on ambience the pizza more than makes up for it. It's still small as hell and you have to fight for a seat but it's well worth it. Its the best pizza that I've ever has outside of Italy.

  • Dana R.

Damn good pizza here. If I lived in Jamaica instead of going there twice a week I would be on a steady diet of this pizza. I could not imagine my thoughts when I first walked in here about two years ago. I was expecting regular pizza on par with regular pizza places. I did notice how packed it was at the time though so that made it look like the food was even better. I love the pizza even though its not cheap. $2.25-2.50 seems to almost be the standard for a single plain slice these days. ... its a shame and makes me feel old(im 30) that I can remember slices for $0.75 a slice.

    (4)
  • Joe S M.

I have walked by this place many times, but yesterday stopped in for a plain slice, since I hear it is one of the best pizza places in New York. I must say I was never a huge fan of New York pizza, a few place here and there, but I do have to say this was one of the best slices I have ever had. Fresh, hot and tasty. The sauce is not only good but they are very generous with it. Who know that my hood, which has so many crappy fast food places would have the best pizza around. If you are not from Jamaica, believe me it is worth traveling too. Another little gem in Jamaica.

    (5)
  • H S.

Margheritas is the best pizza ever! It is as good as Glorias used to be in Flushing. I dont know where they get their sauce and cheese but together its delicious. Their fountain drinks are the bomb. Best fruit punch and grape punch on the planet. Just the right sweet. The reason for the lost star is because they close at 7. If you work you can never get there in time to eat. I wish they closed at 8.

    (4)
  • April G.

My rating is strictly for the pizza itself. Pros: One of the best tasting pizza in all of Queens. Cons: a hole in the wall with some of the most intimidating looking customers I've ever seen. All in all, this place is worth the long line. Even if you lose a tooth or get a black eye from one of the customers impatiently waiting in line, the pizza is worth it.

    (4)
  • Peter D.

After 22 years living in this neighborhood, I refuse to eat pizza anywhere else!! They have over time gotten a little more expensive than I'd like to pay and thin over the years compared to their price but their sauce is really what keeps me coming back when I'm in the mood for pizza. I honestly don't think I've eaten any other pizza on Jamaica Ave since being introduced. I tried a slice from a spot on Sutphin Blvd once and threw it out after the first bite. Then I trooped to Margherita's just so I can get a good slice. Anyone who's done that walk knows that's a mission for a slice of pizza but it was well worth it!!!

    (5)
  • Rockaway E.

Pizza tastes almost exactly the same as it did 25+ years ago. I remember going here with my mother when I was a kid and I just went here a couple weeks ago and was surprised that the pizza tastes almost exactly the same! Great pizza. The only thing I was shocked at was the expensive cost of $2.75 for a slice. What the hell? I can imagine how expensive a whole pie is. But they are always busy so I assume the high cost doesn't deter many customers. But I guess if you are gonna pay that much for a slice of pizza, it better be the best and this is the best.

All my life I compared pizza to theirs... Nothing's measured up. Best pizza. no competition.

    (5)
  • Manny M.

Really great pizza. But there are super-pros, and super-cons. Pros: -Amazing taste. One of best slices in queens. -Always have a fresh pie, usually right out of the oven. Cons: - Located on Jamaica Ave so its not easy to access with a car. -The slices are so fresh that they are literally too hot to eat. -Also, the slices are either 2.75 or 3$. More than usual, but well worth it.

    (4)
  • Naima C.

It's a decent slice ! There is always a crowd here and little seating so take your slice to go !

    (3)
  • Cristina D.

Disappointed. Ordered an anchovy pie for $22. Eek! Not worth it. and I had such high expectations based on all the great reviews, uff oh boy! Actually, it was so bad i had to toss it!! something I have never, ever ever done! Maybe the anchovies were spoiled but honestly....just terrible!!!

    (1)
  • Nick B.

Maybe one of the better slices in downtown Jamaica, which I am sorry say is no great achievement. However, the slices are hot and fresh and I have heard that the heroes are also good. That being said, at $2.75, I don't think I have seen a more expansive slice around anywhere.

Margherita Pizza is by far the greatest pizza in the Galaxy!!!! Back in my early teenage years when I reside in queens New York, I made it my business to eat at Margheritas almost every other day of the week. The cooks were the coolest guys in the world, and funny as well. I tried to convince them to give me the recipe , but they would reply by saying...that's going to cost you a million dollars...lol, besides, it's a family secret recipe. It's now been 23 years since I been to Margherita because I was deployed in the military and I traveled the world...still, no pizza place can top Margheritas, hands down, enough said!!!! ;)

    Awesome Point Blank Period

    (5)
  • Zach C.

Good pizza, really expensive at $2.75 a slice but there are not a lot of good places in the neighborhood so I guess they can get away with it.

    (4)
  • Shanice F.

This is a hood stable it is the only pizza place on the ave. and it is a great place to get a slice the prices seem like they go up every 3 months but the pizza will make you forget you spent 20$ feeding your self it is very tiny and you would think after being here for so long they would expand the pizza has changed threw out the years the crust is different but worth the money

    (4)
  • Shaunna P.

Margherita Pizza is the BEST PIZZA EVER!!! I remember my Mom buying stacks of pies for birthdays, pool parties and sleepovers 40 YEARS AGO. Whenever I come home to visit NYC, I always get a parking ticket in front of Margherita's...LOL. Seriously, the pizza is still as AWESOME today!!!

    (5)
  • Coy T.

FAVORITE PIZZA!!! hands down the best in NY...uhm take it to go though :-)

    (5)
  • Rupi R.

Margherita's Pizza is honestly the best pizza I've ever tasted and I have tasted a lot of pizza in my life. This tiny spot on Jamaica Avenue has always been packed every time I've been there. The pizza is always hot and made to perfection. It is so good that you can't just have one slice. I'd recommend this to everyone. Everytime I family or friends that come from out of state/country, I always bring them here and they are always amazed as much as me. If you're looking for true New York pizza, you HAVE to check out Margheritas!

  • Justin L.

This place gave me mixed feelings. On one hand, their ingredients are great and it tasted very good. On the other hand, my slice was very soggy. I went here with the pizza tour group and got in on the second pie, as this was the first place and I was a bit late. Some who got slices didn't have the sogginess problem, and some did ( it may have been oen fo the the 2 pies). I was one of the unlucky ones. This isn't a case of me being bitchy about something small, either; I couldn't pick up the damn thing with things sliding off. I ended up just picking the pieces of cheese off my destroyed plate and eating them with a fork (this was not pizza napoletana). The real bad part here as this pizza tasted great, and it was a real shame that they didn't take more care to avoid a sogginess issue. Everything except the crust was great, and thats because I can't really grade the soggy crust properly (the little bit that wasn't soggy was good). This tasted like rgeat pizza, but I can't bring myself to call it that based on what I personally experienced I will try this place again, as its fairly accessible, got great reviews from the others who got a proper slice, and its worth another shot. For now, this is where it stands though, as there is definitely some inconsistency here. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt which is rare for me, so hopefully I will have a good update soon enough.

    (3)
  • Sasha P.

Yeaaa the pizza is that good!! But u need to eat it right then & there too get the full flavor...it doesn't taste the same after it leaves the store. No wonder all the tables all always taken up =\

  • Lisa H.

Cant beat a good NY slice of pizza and this place delievers. Its a litl pricey @ $2.75 for a slice, and $1.00 for extra toppings but its always hot and fresh cause they are cranking out slices and pies all day. Only downside is that there isnt very much seating but otherwise its a must try.

    (4)
  • Tara L.

Mmmm, I love the pizza here. It's usually a pain to get served because there are always so many people lined up at the counter but the wait is well worth it and the guys that work behind the counter are always super nice. I usually just get 1 slice because they are pretty big and although I wish I could eat 2 slices, I don't want to let amazing pizza to go to waste. The crust is perfect NY style thin crust, the sauce is tangy and there's the perfect amount of slightly browned cheese.

  • Paula I.

I stumbled on this place because I was in Jamaica at the social security office. I was in the mood for pizza and was delighted to find that the pizza was really really good. It's tiny, cheap and just plain amazing. Too bad I'm rarely in the area though :(

at Peter rating system. as follows: STARS- standard yelp CHANCE I WILL BE BACK- YES - i'll go 100% even though its in ghetto surrounded by armed thugs like deathwish 2 Why I went - SISTER use work in this ghetto THis place is sick, this pizza so hot I burned. 2nd degree burns on my tongue but great pizza. I've eat L&B Grimaldi this is a great slice of pizza. Cheese so good and so runny its like a porno!!! I am very impressed, i'm reviewing this place 10 mins after I ate it. This place gives any 5 star french restaurant a run for its money. ITs sick I grew up in brooklyn paying 1.00 for a pizza 1.10 1.50 2.00. AT 2.50 or 2.75 this pizze is outrageously priced in the hood but well worth it. I was whitest guy in a mile radius and i'm chinese. i'm not sure about the price cause I will eat anything at any price. Cause restaurant work on repeat customers not random customers.

  • Salma M.

I read what everyone had to say about Margherita Pizza and decided to try it this weekend. The sauce is watery, after a couple of minutes on the plate the slice was sitting in a puddle of watery sauce and oil. The cheese is super greasy and slides off the mushy bread. This place is very over rated, i'm sorry to say. Total let down.

my favoriteeeee ! best pizza hands down , compares to no other and always worth the couple bucks . you definitely get what you pay for . .

  • Kenny F.

Seriously, this is THE BEST PIZZA EVER. For $2.75 a slice, this pizza is worth the hefty price! Everytime I am on jamaica ave, I buy at least one, but sometimes two slices. The pizza is always fresh and the staff is very friendly and helpful. For a hole in the wall pizzeria, this place rocks!!! If you are looking for New York Pizza, check this place out. I've never tasted pizza as good as this!!! My mouth is watering thinking about it! I'm gunna go get a few slices tomorrow!

  • Sonny G.

I go to York college up the block from this pizzeria. This is the only fast food type spot that I will eat at in the area, and the reviews from my fellow helpers have a lot to do with my reasoning. The area is located by many trains which of course brings rats. There was wonderfully composed article in my school news paper about all the vermin in our cafeteria. That means its a pesty area. With that said, this pizza joint has been standing for over the six years that I've been coming to Jamaica ave. The pizza is good, and more importantly I actually trust the preparation.

  • Ke'Cha Cydney G.

BY FAR THE BEST PIZZA IN QUEENS. $2.75...the price is steadly raising, yet i will never let this get in between me and my pizza. i love pizza from this place. its perfect anytime...and always crazy HOT. seriously...be careful when you eat the pizza because you may get burned. but its so worth it. :)

  • Mohammed S.

Nothing spectacular, just a hole in the wall that serves old school NYC pizza...at current NYC prices. This isn't something you couldn't get pretty much everywhere in Manhattan. Their popularity has less to do with how well they make their pizza and more to do with how poorly most other pizzarias in Queens make theirs.

    (3)
  • Anna S.

Not too crazy about..... Average food and nothing special about the place.... Having craving 4 a pizza will go some other place!

    (2)
  • James F.

Best pizza ever!! All others are compared to this. There is only one problem. Parking! If you can get your pie and get out before being ticketed you win.

Quintessential New York Pizza. Been in the same spot 40 plus years. You know the Pizza's good when your guaranteed an oven fresh slice every time, that's how fast they go here.

Okay I may be one of the few who has tasted this pizzza by the orginal owners when I went to Delhanty College Prep in the mid 80's. Back then it was a old Italian gentlemen that made the pizza and it was awesome. I stopped in earlier for a few slices and the pizza was ok. I have had better at Papa Johns on some days. Its a big slice. The crust has changed to a thicker doughy crust now. Sauce is ok and the amount of cheese is ok. The best thing is its hot out of the oven. I ordered extra cheese on one and told them to just let it melt no need to put it in the oven to melt it. Now I am not sure if it was the heat of the oven or the 102 temp in NY that caused that. I will say this they are not using a high quality mozzarella cheese. It taste like the kids string cheese that my lil cousins eat. I was once told by someone in Milan t that he test to a good slice of pizza is how it taste cold and not hot. Hot the slices are awesome but cold they are blah. The slices are kind of pricey at 2.75 or a pie at $21.00 but then if you want a decent pizza you have to ask $21.00 for a pie or $6.00 for a Papa Johns pie if you have a promo coupon. With this review I ranked them the way I did as I have had the orginal pizza years ok. I have had pizza at a Patsy's and Grimalidi in Brooklyn and also Totonnos in Brooklyn. Its much better and in the same price range as Margherita.

It's not a fancy pizzeria. They don't have lots of extras. Just pizza. Hot, fresh, delicious pizza. It is easily the best pizza anywhere near Jamaica Ave and I've driven past other pizza spots to carry out a pie or two. It's Great pizza at a decent price.

I grew up eating this pizza! Whenever I'm in NYC, I have to stop by for a slice or two..... ok, a pie! It hasn't changed! No matter where I go in the world, I always compare other pizzas to Margherita.

I grew up in Queens, but now live in California. Still visit once in a while, so I checked my yelping friends and followed the recommendation for Margherita Pizza. Started walking from Jamaica station and walked past sutphin and past Parsons and passed the King Manor on Jamaica blvd. I was looking for this hole in the wall and passed it the first time and some woman yelled out to me, "if you're looking for pizza this is the place." And so it was. This is the NY pizza I remember: good tomato sauce , pully stringy cheese, oily surface and very thin so it can be folded into the mouth. It was great pizza and I had some of the red stuff in a cup they call punch and drank it to wash down the last of my pizza. Simple place , simple pizza and very good.

Allow me to first say "Shame on You" to my damn self for not having known all these years about this unassuming dingy diamond in the rough of a pizzeria which has been located practically in my backyard for all of my life (I'm sure it even exceeds my age) Okay maybe not close enough to consider my backyard, certainly not what I'd call "walking distance".. but if were big on walking, yea I probably would.. despite the extra-hood calamity and chaos that is "THE AVE." (or Jamaica Avenue for yall that ain't familiar with Queens vernacular) So anyways.. yesterday for the first time in a long time, I braved several blocks of THE AVE. and passed by this pizza joint, which is quite easy to miss completely during the slow morning hours.. very suddenly I got a strong whiff of the wonderful just-made cheesy pizza aroma that permeated the storefront.. and believe me I was extremely hesitant at first.. cuz well, if the location wasn't suspect enough then the mere appearance of the spot will give you enough reason to second guess.. so I actually kept it moving, and about half an hour later the crave had won.. I made my way back over, and of course it was packed.. I saw the options are very limited, I think just plain cheese or pepperoni but I could be wrong.. anyways I got my cheese slice, dusted it with my usual parmesan-pepperflakes-oregano-garlic powder jumpoff.. and then let it rest a minute cuz it was obviously so fresh that the cheese needed to solidify a little more, plus my first bite would've probably burned me.. anyways let me cut to the chase, I thoroughly enjoyed this pizza and all of its components from the first nibble of the tip to the last chomp of its crispy yet chewy crust.. I have a strong feeling that a lot of the great flavor comes from the pizza oven itself (maybe cuz it's been pushing out pizzas for 50 some-odd years? could be) Its so quintessential New Yawk, and theres a real nostalgia about the place that I can't quite figure out.. and I don't mean just cuz it looks so badly in need of sprucing up, actually that aspect became more charming as the pizza entered my mouth.. but I started to think that perhaps in my early youth I had been there before with my mom, an innocent time when we were not so quick to judge.. or maybe it was that my senses of sight, taste, and smell were so consumed and so impressed.. that the sheer unadulterated bliss turned me into a kid again?.. yes? Okay fine, that's a little overboard.. I just really liked this damn pizza damnit, and this is where my rave ends ;)

This place is always packed with a line and on Jamaica Ave its a damn circus just to b-line for the door and get your order taken. the location is annoying, but hey, its in my hood so its super convenient for me. the layout of the space is narrow and unorganized - eventually someone behind the bar will look at you and you better spit out your order before the guy squeezing in behind you yells out what he wants before you. but i love it! my man and i always run over here on sunday before a football game or after a night of boozin to grab a whole plain pie for $16 and its delicious!! its thin crust and dripping grease make me happy. its always hot fresh and affordable!

Decent pizza for the area, but not saying a lot since there really isn't another real pizzeria around. Not a big selection of pizza just the standard regular slice and Sicilian. No seating really available though.

Best pizza in Jamaica!!! OK, so there's really not a lot of good food in Jamaica so this isn't such a great accomplishment but their pizza is really good!!! It's a little overpriced for Jamaica Ave. but definitely worth it.

I have had the pleasure of eating at Margherita's a few times since it is near my job. Delicious. Very flavorful. The sauce is perfectly acidic with a relatively thick layer of cheese. I think my only complaint - and the reason that I did not give it 5 stars - is that it is very oily. Also, the layout of the place makes it a bit tight, so you can't really truly enjoy your pizza there.

  • K B.

This is the best pizza I have ever tasted. Always expect your pizza to be hot and fresh out the oven. The only downside is this pizzeria is always crowded. I wish they would relocate to another spot on the Ave that is larger and can be an actual pizza restaurant instead of a pizza joint.

best pizza i've ever had, better than l&b in brooklyn. its so cheesy and for almost $3 a slice, its worth it.

this is really good pizza even though its pricey for the area. it must be the sauce and the oil that they use. the slices are big also which is a major plus. the pizza is always hot which is great to eat. only bad part is they dont deliver and it takes a while to get your order in since they tend to ignore you if you dont say anything.

I work nearby and this is literally the only pizza spot in like a 5 block radius of work. But when I tell you that whenever I am craving pizza, this place is consistently good. I've had regular slices, pepperoni slices and the regular Sicilian slices. All delicious. Good NYC pizza. No complaints. Yea it can be crowded during lunch hour and there aren't any seats. But that is all to be expected for the ONLY pizza shop available at that time and it's good... Delicious.

If you've ever been to the Ave as most people call the Jamaica Avenue shopping area. You must try this pizza. They've been here for well over 30 years and it's apparent why. Their pizza is really good. The sauce is good and the crust has a good flavor. There isn't much seating area inside and the line is always pretty long. You can order from the window if you'd like. It's guaranteed that you're always going to get fresh pizza here.

Went to Chitown and had original deep dish pizza and I'm sorry but this restaurant here makes the best pizza ever ! The only place better was in Italy ! The crust is not too thick (but not thin ) cheesy and the tomato sauce is not acidic . They've been around since I was a little girl and still don't deliver . Oh well ...

With the newly-moved International Night Market a bust, we decided to try the nearest and really only highly rated Yelp spot nearby, and it was an absolute freaking dogshow. $3 regular slice was fine and the $3.10 sicilian was too, but the wait is absurd, poorly handled, AND in too narrow a space (there was a 5-year-old next to us whining 'they really need to expand this place' and damn was she right).

  • Darwin G.

The place is busy and small. Walking in, it's two person wide, with people have the counter trying to order. The slice is very good for a traditional NY slice. A good amount of cheese, not too greasy, a fair amount of saltiness balanced by the sweet sauce, a medium minus thin crust. Then again, at $3, I would expect less in Jamaica. Joe's in Manhattan has a comparable/better slice at the same price.

My first taste of New York pizza sure didn't disappoint! The planets aligned, and the gods led us on a journey to find sustenance in this hole in the wall pizza parlor. Mind you, this is not for you calorie counters. After an 8-hour flight from Heathrow Airport, Rob and I decided to stay in NYC for a night and catch the flight to Indianapolis the next morning. I desperately wanted some NY style pizza for dinner. But we can't! It's New Years Day. Everything's closed. Not a good start to 2015, I tell ya. The next day, we checked the bags with a few hours to spare. The ladies at the check-in desk suggested Margherita Pizza since it was within walking distance of the train station. About 5 blocks. The place is not easy to spot though. A narrow store front cramped between a bunch of discount shops. The seating is VERY minimal. A few small booths in the back and a two standing bars. We ordered two slices and a drink each, which came out to $20 even. Not bad for two slices as big as yo' face! I could see my reflection in the pool of grease on top of each slice. But OMG! It was the perfect combo of cheese, sauce and crust. I'm not a huge sauce fan, but their sauce is delicious! The menu offers slices, pies, heroes, and extra toppings. Drinks include fountain sodas and Snapple drinks. Prices are reasonable. Great spot to grab a bite!

So how can I say this I've been coming here for more than 15 years and there are few things worth $3; a gallon of gas, a good cup of coffee, and a slice of heaven from Margherita's pizza. Let me tell you about the cheese I don't know what kinda blood, sweat, and tears goes into making it but it's the best cheese on a pizza I've ever had. The crust is the ONLY crust I'll eat. I no longer live close to this gem and alas rarely get to indulge (my hips and waistline is grateful) but today I was close by and had to detour and enjoy. Worth every penny and then some. While your at it grab a fruit punch. The owner (who the staff says isn't around as much) is rude as all hell. Even that couldn't make me take off a star. The rest of the staff is amazing and pleasant and churns out slices quickly especially during the evening rush with students and passing commuters. Limited seating quick service and the best pizza ever.

Love this pizza spot! Been going there since I was a little girl and my mother would sit me up on the stool in the back. She would give me a slice and I would only eat the cheese and sauce on top. Never the crust or bottom. She would always get mad and say she is not going to bring me back here but never stopped! Still go there to this day.

Jamaica must not have outstanding pizza. Really 3.5 star place. Yes, outside of nyc this would easily be 4 - 4.5...but we're in nyc. Flavor is good, dough is more chewy than crunchy, and the cheese is good quality and they put a decent amount on it. But it doesn't deserve 4.5 stars and i've def had 4 star rated places that are better than here. Again, its NOT bad and it IS above average but not worthy of the 4.5 rating. Also surprised to see a $3 plain slice in Jamaica. Plenty of counter space in the front to stand and eat, with some seating in the back. Also, beware of the loud young mothers that curse off their toddlers and smack them in the head. More than 1 instance in the 10 minutes i was there. Seriously, mothers, wtf?

Okay, so I LOATHE walking here because of the Jamaica Ave crowds, but it is so worth it when I do. The pizza here is sooo good. They aren't like a regular pizzeria where slices are sitting out then reheated for you (which I have no problem with), but every time I come here it's like I'm getting something fresh out of the oven. The cheese is actually melty! Mind you, there's no real 'order' to this place. You gotta call out what you want because from why I've observed, they dish up the pizza in order of whoever they make eye contact with first. It's not that they're ignoring you, there just aren't any 'lines' in the traditional sense or 'Order Here' areas. Hey, the pizza is good but it's still Jamaica Ave. Every man for himself = )

Delicious cheesy, big, old-fashion pizza! My co-worker claims this is the best pizza ever. So we came here during lunch hour. Immediately at sight, there was a line around the counter of people waiting to be served. We ordered our slices of plain pizza. The booths have the old fashion pizzeria chairs and benches set up - definitely brings back happy pizza memories from youth! A cheesy pizza is a good pizza! You can see the strings of cheese still connecting the slices of pizza when you pull them apart! The slices are pretty big, too! One bite, you are now tasting all the cheese just melting in your mouth as well as the crispy crust part of it!

This pizza spot is a hidden gem. Pizza is made from fresh ingredients and always fresh! My family and friends loving going to this spot because not only is it close to my house, the pizza is always made fresh and tastes absolutely AMAZING! I just wish that they would expand their seating area because it gets so busy sometimes that all of the seats end up being taken. Overall, this is the best pizza spot in the Queens are hands down!

It's 9:30am & to my surprise this spot was open! What's better then a fresh slice for breakfast. This has been my go to spot on the Ave for years, I noticed there has been a dramatic change in the quality of the pizza for the *Worst*. Not to mention now it's $3.00 for a regular slice! I picked up 2 slices to stay, it was extremely oily beyond the norm! & yes there was a lot of cheese, but the cheese was flavorless. The only exception was the sauce, it was perfect tangy with a touch of sweetness. They cut down on the quality of there ingredients, raised there prices & serve day old pizza (Greedy Owners) makes you think what goes on, where the eyes can't see!

I will start by saying I am not a big pizza person at all. When i say this is the best pizza I have ever had in my life and I would eat it regularly if I had the opportunity - I mean it. I am a proud Queens native and I have been going here since I was in junior high school. Same location, same decor, same owners, same delicious pizza. This is not a beautiful pizza parlor but I swear they make this pizza with love and unicorn dust. You will not be disappointed.

Hands down my favorite pizza in Queens. Lots of gooey mozzarella cheese, Big on taste, sauce isn't too sweet and I love the thin crust. You wont find a large dining space here. This is 1970's counter top dining. It gets crowded during peak hours, so come after 2 p.m. The staff is quick but can easily get overworked and busy during peak hours. Everything is authenticly made here. Truly NY Pizza made with love.

From my one experience, it deserves 5 stars. I haven't had pizza in months, possibly a year if you don't count the horrific chain "pizzeria", a family member requested... Regardless, I went in the afternoon, there was no line. L ordered a plain slice for us to share. I generally don't eat a whole slice, especially if I'm eating it standing outside. $3 is a bit pricey for the area, but I have to say there are plenty of restaurants around Jamaica that seem to price their food just as high, especially when there is nothing that comes close to it in the near vicinity. Our slice was available right away, which L thought was odd. It couldn't possibly be hot... But it was. He couldn't even take a big bite, the sauce was like lava. The slice we had was delicious. I did use a few napkins to eliminate the oil on the bottom of the slice. The crust was perfect, it was thin and crunchy. Sauce wasn't too sweet. It definitely wasn't doughy, but anyone can have an off day. It's definitely one of the best slices I've had in Queens, though I admit I don't really eat pizza too often. Next time, I'll probably get a whole pie or two.

This has been the best pizza ever since I was in high school! It hasn't changed. Even the cash register. I hope that it stays open forever! Every time I go home I stop there for a slice. Some people say Gaby's is the best. Not! Margherita's is the best!!

Pizza is really fresh! Hot, flavorful, cheesy and straight from the oven! There's barely any places to sit, so mentally prepare yourself to possibly stand while you eat lol. $3 is a bit much for a slice but it's so freakin good...

  • Briaunté W.

Best Pizza Hands Down!!! Is it worth the $2.75 per slice?! Absolutely NOT! That's pretty expensive for a plain slice of pizza. I don't even want to know how much it costs for toppings. Although it's on the expensive side, customers stand in & outside the little shop enjoying a slice of heaven. This pizzeria is infamous for their pizza & usually is packed. It's a hole in the wall place & easily missed if you don't know that it's there.

I'm surprised I've never written this up before - it's one of the best in Queens, if not THE best. Super popular with locals, the slice is maximum flavor in every regard. Max old school too - in a pizza dessert.

  • Alejandro J.

Amazing pizza. I went here yesterday and I only planned on getting a slice or two. I walked inside and saw the quality of the pizza and bought 3 lol. I didn't regret it either. I felt like I was eating pizza from Brooklyn. Fresh out of the oven, the crust had a wonderful crispiness to it; Not too thick, not too thin. The cheese was amazing, great taste and had a nice amount of stretch. I was in heaven eating this pizza. I must say this place has the best pizza in Queens. It definitely beats Gaby's. They were good at first but the quality seems to have gone down over time.
