I order from this place when i want some good sushi delivered. Very good sushi, Fast delivery on their scooters and they take CCs over the phone. Will continue to order from them. :)

this place has the distinction of being the first menu I grab when looking for takeout. The spicy girl roll is great and prices are what you would expect. I've tried just about all the sushi places in the area and there are tons, but Mado takes the cake. Definitely worth a try, more of a takeout/delivery place than a sit and eat place.

We ordered to go the 18 piece special (spicy tuna roll, salmon, and substituted the chicken roll with yellow tail) and 6pc Shumai! It was the worst sushi ever!!! The spicy tuna was the only thing that was consumable. The shumai (how can you go wrong with that?) well they managed it. I understand it's cheap sushi but c'mon raise it a dollar or two if need be and give it a better quality!!! Never again.

Ordered takeout from this sushi place just because I was tired of eating "Tangra Wok", an Asian fusion restaurant which is a couple of doors down the block. I was pretty pleased. The food was good.. it definitely wasn't the best sushi that I've ever had, but it was pretty good. I had one specialty roll.. I think it was called the New York roll.. and I also had this combo which was supposed to have spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, and chicken roll (18 pieces)... I never had chicken sushi.. and it didn't sound so appealing.. so the guy was nice enough to change it for a California roll and he also changed my regular salmon roll to a spicy salmon roll. I think the specialty roll was around $6 and the combo was only $8... which is really affordable. I gave this place 4 out of 5 stars because they need to have a better variety of specialty rolls. Other than that, the place was great... will definitely order from here again!

I used to work across the street from Mado and would count the hours to my sushi lunch special. It is inexpensive, tasty and they deliver pretty quickly. The inviting decor makes for a cozy dining in experience as well.

I have been ordering from Mado for about 3 years now. First when I lived in Elmhurst and now since I have been in Rego Park. I have to say that out here where there are not as many retsurants as in Forest Hills this place is pretty decent. I have tried about pretty much everything from the menu. The chicken katsu curry is pretty awesome. I would defintely compare it to Teriyaki Boy's version in the city. Love the salmon combonation deluxe. The salmon is good as well as the california roll or shumai which you get to choose from. Also comes with a small salad and some tempura. The maki roll combinations are all good but the fave is the eel sushi. The donburi is also good.I would pretty much recommend anything from this place. It may not be toip quality sushi but it will defintely do in a pinch.

This is a definite local favorite of mine. Me and my best friend Belle usually go here whenever I'm not working and shes not working or at class. It's a very small place, and also shadowed by another Japanese retaurant on the same block. Fuck that other place, Mado is 90x better. This place is very quiet, laid back, and the lighting is just great. Its dim, its not too bright, not too dark. The service is at the top because, well, they don't really get much business. Everytime we go, we're the only ones there. We've gone there countless times, and maybe just one out of all those times, we saw maybe one other table filled. I'm not sure what it is. I guess because of the fact that its being overshadowed by that other Japanese place, and the fact that its the last store on the block until it hits residential buildings. Not sure what it is, but this place is great. The food is great, prompt and very inexpensive. My meal of a Chicken Katsu platter (which includes a salad and rice), her Beef Teriyaki platter, vegetable tempura, and my extra order of Oshinko was less than $25 total. This is why we love the place. We can sit and chat, without anyone bothering us, or any sort of noise, and enjoy very delicious food for a very reasonable price. Also, their heating is great during those crazy cold days. Try it, you'll love it.

The rolls were delicious just don't order the tofu salad. It's just raw tofu and lettuce. I mean unless you like that.

The menus are completely wrong and the staff is not knowledgeable. Lunch boxes claim they come with a California roll and shumai, the staff said either or. The menu said soba, it was supposed to say soba. When they get their act together, maybe this place will be worthwhile.

Definitely not a dine-in restaraunt -- maybe for a quick bite for lunch. I'd prefer to do take-out or delivery. Came in on a Friday night. It was empty, no music, no decor, almost silent. Definitely not pricey, very reasonable menu. We ordered the Kani Salad, Mango Roll, Fuji Roll, and one other that quite frankly was so average I forgot what it was. The kani salad should be renamed to the cucumber salad with a little bit of kani. The Fuji roll is pretty good and worth a try if you like shrimp tempura and crabmeat. Probably wouldn't come back to dine in, but maybe I'll give them another try next time with delivery?

  • Syeda A.

Sushi was OK nothing special, I initially just wanted the dynamite roll but ended up getting the Boston roll to meet the $10 credit card minimum (this was a take out order) Got home and the rolls were huge.. I think they rolled them a little too wide? Anyway the dynamite roll was super disappointing and almost... Gross yeah I'll say it. It had this overt fishy taste, which ok it's fish but it tasted like it went bad? Also I didn't see any tempura flakes So glad I ended up getting the Boston roll it was the best of the two. If you want better sushi, and better service I would go to sake sushi which is down the street.

Food its great at a fare price, I appreciate their delivery service, once I got the wrong sushi roll, I called just to let them know ( I didn't ask for refund or exchange) ten minutes later the delivery guy came back with the right sushi roll. I like it when a business takes care of their costumers, this is one of those places.

  • Ethan S.

I really wish I took a picture of what they had the nerve to deliver to me, I ordered Salmon sushi. OMG I have never seen anything like it first its full of FAT which means they use the cheapest part of the fish next to the stomach, then they delivered it without taking all the skin off. Then I call and ask them to replace it because my mom refused for me to ask for a refund, the delivery guy asks me to open the case so to show him proof, I show him and he was angry with me!!!! despite him clearly seeing that the salmon was covered in skin!!!!! THEN tells me to go inside and get him a plastic bag. You think that was all? NOOOOO. I did eat the eel roll and my husbands fried fish roll.... vomiting ALL NIGHT!!!! Disgusting.

  • Diana E.

I love love love this restaurant. I live right around the block so I order from here fairly often. I have never had discolored tuna or bony unagi. Their sushi is always fresh and delicious. Their hot lunches and combination/bento boxes are great too - teriyaki, katsu, negimaki...all delicious. Not everything on the menu is superb though, and I would advise to stay away from the noodle soups. Stick with other hot food or sushi and you should be good to go! PS I could live off of their shumai for the rest of my life!

  • S S.

This place is often dark inside. When it's not dim inside, it's smelly---not in-your-face disgusting, but a stale, old rag smell that slowly makes me want to get up and leave. Or at least not return, which I haven't done since the first and last time I ate there with my family. We got the avocado salmon, avocado tuna, california, and yellowtail rolls, as well as teriyaki chicken and teriyaki salmon, and it looked a mess and tasted just as bad. I literally ate 1/2 of a roll and then felt disgusted with myself. My grandmother ate the food because she didn't want to waste money. The avocado in all our sushi was 1/2 black and the fish tasted slimy and gross. I will never come back in here again. I would rather go to sushi 33 even though it's got a "B" rating from the government.

Overall: I only order delivery from here which is better than all the other Japanese places here from a delivery standpoint. If i were to crave cheap delivery Japanese, I choose this place over the others, hence the 4 stars. Pros: Super fast delivery. Good prices. English Speaking person (never got an order wrong) Food is decent for the prices. Cons: For what it is, cheap Japanese takeout, it is not bad.

I hear service sucks so luckily we did delivery! Well, that took forever too but when it came... OMFG! I ordered seaweed udon (only 7.50?) and ended up with the best damn bucket of perfectly seasoned broth, hot yummy noodles, bright, plentiful seaweed, with gigantic pieces of broccoli, cabbage, imitation crab meat, and mushroom.... LOVE IT!!!

They have some great and fresh sushi here. Their cooked food was pretty good, I had a bento box with chicken katsu and it was fantastic. I've also ordered take out here before, but they were rather slow that time. They deliver rather fast though. So I'm guessing those are a priority. All in all, the food is great, the fishes are fresh, decent pricing, the wait is not too bad.

  • Stacy T.

I just finished a lunch here. I expected it to be fast-food Japanese quality. The fish was okay. It was soft at least, but it was pretty bland. I got Sushi Regular B - 6 pieces of sushi and 6 pieces of California Roll for 8.50, includes miso soup (lunch special). I had the white fish, salmon, tuna, crab stick, shrimp, and eel. The tuna practically lost all of its color. The salmon looked a little more lively. The crab tasted like most other imitation crab sticks. The shrimp was normal. The eel was okay, but there were a lot of bones that stuck my tongue. The california roll was ginormous and lacked any flavor. Overall the rice was slightly hard. Sorry, I wasn't feeling this place.

    (2)
  • Shelley L.

Lunch Special from 11am to 4pm everyday, free soda or miso soup Two rolls/12 pcs $6.25 Three rolls/18 pcs $8.50 Sushi Regular A (6pcs Cali roll & 8 pcs sushi) $10.50 Sushi Regular B (6 pcs Cali roll & 6 pcs sushi) $8.50 Those are the most popular lunch specials. I tried the California and tuna rolls and they were average to subpar. The rice seemed dry or slightly undercooked. Otherwise the California roll was pretty good. The tuna was mushy, which means it's not fresh. The service was spectacular though. I didn't really have a wait but I was the only customer there. The place had 18 seats when I was there. Four tables that seat four and a table that seats two near the entrance.

Im a fan. It's not Nobu, but if you are ok with that going into it -- then you should be fine. We do delivery, weekly. Tuna/avacado - great, Spicy tuna - great, Salmon- great. No reason to not use Mado as your go to delivery option. Save your $$ for dining out options.

It's odd giving this place 4 stars. But reviews are subjective to what each place is, I believe. This is a place that tries to do cheap, quick, take-out sushi (at least, that's how I think of it). Given judging it by that standard, they do a pretty good job. This isn't great sushi, but it's passable when you want a quick sushi fix. The udon noodle soup, sucked. Prices are really very cheap. They prepare the food very quickly. The inside is ok, seems clean enough. But this isn't really the sort of place you'd want to hang out in. Get your stuff to go, chill out at home and eat some decent sushi.

This is the go to spot for local sushi for me and my girlfriends. Not really a nice sit down restaurant but it's great for takeout and delivery. Very affordable prices for the quality of sushi you are getting. I prefer to order the individual rolls over a party platter bc it usually comes out cheaper.

    (4)
  • Gavin H.

I just went - it was awful. Sit down service was horrible, sushi offerings were horrible, the cuts & pieces were awful ... just awful. The health grade sign is a "B".

    (1)
  • Julie B.

I love Mado. Cheap, delicious, and they deliver even when it's pouring, snowing or freezing. The sushi always tastes fresh, and the special rolls are pretty standard, but still amazing. Plus, they have soy paper for those of us who don't eat seaweed! Great lunch specials too, 3 rolls plus soup for about $10.

"So, why did you guys name this place window?" I ask the wait staff. "Window?", "Yeah, mado means window in japanese.", "Oh! I didn't know that!" -smile- This place is very cozy, and fairly priced for sushi anywhere in the 5boroughs. Once the staff gets to know you, they open up and will actually talk a bit. As Michael mentioned, there is another Japanese place practically next door... but why pay twice as much for the same thing that might or might not even taste as good?

    (4)
  • John S.

I ordered from here twice. Came in 9 mins the first time, about 25 mins the next. Everything was good, ordered the spicy tuna, yellow tail, and others. Price is awesome and this is my favorite pl for sushi when I order in.

Its a small place and I would agree its a good place for conversation with a friend, loved one, or date. Its not loud, not dark or bright, or crowded. Just a good local spot. I had the sushi lunch special which comes with 2 rolls = 12 pieces. Decent sushi at a decent price. Most basic rolls are around $3.50. I rated it a 3 cause its not spectacular or gave an outstanding impression.

    (3)
  • Seren C.

Very attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere and delicious sushi! This is one of the better sushi spots in this area. Its small size keeps it from getting loud and crowded. An excellent choice for lunch or dinner...you won't be disappointed! The front of the place opens up completely so you feel like you are sitting outside and enjoying the craziness of Queens Blvd. pass you by...this is especially nice on cool evenings! Will spend about $15 for appetizer, some roles and tax/tip. Enjoy!

I just went - it was awful. Sit down service was horrible, sushi offerings were horrible, the cuts & pieces were awful ... just awful. The health grade sign is a "B".

Enjoy!
