This is some of the best Italian in Rochester. The place across the street may be more busy but Panzari's has far better food. LOVE their pesto cream sauce.

Panzari's is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Rochester. The ambiance is average Italian restaurant and service is good, but the food is great! All pastas are highly customizable and portions are large. Chicken dishes are always a winner. The pasta bolognese and tortellini are some of the best I have had. Their soups are also delicious. If you love fresh, try Panzari's pastas and soups, you wont be sorry.

So we love Panzari's food and get takeout from here regularly (probably every 6 weeks or so). We have lived in Corn Hill for three years and I'm ashamed to say that I had never sat down for a full meal at the restaurant. Sure, we'd had a cannoli (house made!) at the bar and drinks a couple times, but never a full meal. I went early (around 5pm) with my parents after our annual Geva Theatre outing to see A Christmas Carol to benefit Hillside. The dining room only had one other group seated when we arrived and there were a couple folks at the bar. We heard the specials and ordered. We got tea to start (had to warm up after my walk over) and they served simple warm bread and olive oil with cheese for dipping (love it). All three of us were enthralled with the "parmesans" so Dad ordered chicken parm and Mom and I both ordered veal parm. We also both substituted rigatoni Alfredo for the regular pasta & red sauce. When our meals came mine was perfect, but both my mom's and dad's had errors (wrong sides, wrong protein) that the restaurant corrected. Dad was understandably frustrated to have his meal come out late, though. The waiter was nice and comped one dessert for our trouble. We weren't sure was quite adequate given the number of errors and the fact that dad got his meal at the end of ours. The food was very good, as usual, though. I love their Alfredo sauce and their portions for the chicken & veal are great! For dessert we had chocolate/raspberry cake (which is ok - raspberry jam-ish layers are kind of intensely flavored and gummy) and mom had tiramisu (which she said was amazing!). I think the kitchen/service missteps were hopefully a fluke, and we will go back to give it another try in person. I'm sure I'll be getting more takeout, either way. =)

My bolognese was a little underwhelming and watery, and I thought it was strange that cheese was grated into our olive oil for dipping bread in. Is that normal? Because if it is, I've never seen it before. The caprese salad was solid. If you get anything with seafood, you'll get a generous portion here, so that's a plus. I hear the pizzas are more impressive, so the next time I'm in Rochester, I'll have to try it.

This is a hidden gem! Great local spot for real Italian food and a central spot at that. Must try any of their soups - All delicious! Best Arancini in town and always good service! Big dessert menu and looks so good, but I have yet to indulge. So cozy and inviting inside, not too loud like many other restaurants. Great pesto!

The food is great here, there is no question there. Whether you have the haddock french, the chicken marsala, or the wood-fired pizza......They're all delicious ! Everything is prepared to order, and the service is quite good. The problem here, is that it is just overpriced. This place is nothing fancier than a diner inside. There is no ambiance or view, except you see a little bit of a parking lot. $18 for a basic wood-fired pizza, $18 for chicken marsala, and $10 for just a basic large house salad, with nothing but mixed greens and a couple vegetables, is just excessive. The prices all seem to be equally about $5 too high. If the owners dropped their prices 25%, I honestly think they could increase their business 50%.

I am not a greens and beans person, or at least I thought I wasn't until I had Panzari's greens and beans...OUTSTANDING! So yummy. We've been a few times and the food and service have never missed. I especially enjoyed the red pepper bisque which was the special recently and it was so good I asked for a to go cup! My husband got the pesto grilled chicken panini, and I ordered the bolognese, and both were excellent. The servers are always very attentive and friendly. We've also sat at the bar and the bartender was great as well, suggesting and serving really fun martinis. Great place - will be back again (and again...)

I think I would give the food a very positive 3. It is good! But not earth shatteringly so. But I just really liked the whole experience here. I went here with low expectations due to mediocre Yelp reviews and being an Italian NY City girl (meaning complete spoiled by great restaurants). I was in Rochester for business and came here by accident (got lost and turned around in their parking lot!) My first impression was that is was so cozy and warm and just a welcoming atmosphere, especially with the tasteful Christmas/winter decorations (white lights, wreaths and red ribbons). I had chicken pastina soup and Mediterranean pizza. The soup was beautifully plated and garnished. Plus, I loved the dishes! They were gorgeous and I would want them in my home. Not your typical white plates. The pizza was very good! Everything was so hot like it was just off the stove, or in this case out of their Brick oven. Nice crust. Not quite thin crust, a little doughy inside and more crisp on the ends. The service was also nice, although it was a slow night. But the waiter was very pleasant. In short, I wouldn't say this place has mind blowing, ground breaking Italian food. But it was very good and had a nice atmosphere and seems like a nice place to go with family, friends or a casual date. I could picture my family having a nice time here.

Nice tiny place. Our server (Laurie) was quick to greet us. She was friendly. We ordered wine and she described the specials with detail. The homemade Balsamic vinaigrette was amazing. The Caesar dressing was probably the best I've had in a long time. The salad greens were ice cold and perfect. We had fresh bread with olive oil and fresh grated parm at the table. We added crushed red pepper and black pepper... Everything was served in a timely fashion. We didn't feel rushed at all. Dinner was great. We were too full for dessert. We were very happy. Great place, great service and great food. Well done folks... keep up the good work.

Ok. $7.50 for a double espresso was a bit extreme. Pizza was ok. Main course was salty. Good service. There are better places out there

Food is great! Love the bread with garlic butter. Arancini are awesome! A little pricy and everything is ala carte or I would give 5 stars.

I ate here with my parents last night (Tuesday night). We arrived at about 7:45 and were seated immediately. It was fairly quiet. We sat down and ordered some drinks, which took about 8mins to get to us even though we were one of 4 populated tables there. Too slow. I ordered their special that night which was a bone-in pork chop topped with mushrooms and prosciutto and it was absolutely delicious. Everything on the menu is fresh and home made. My mom ordered egg plant parm which I had a bite of and was also delicious! In terms of the quality of the food I would highly recommend this place to anybody. In terms of the time it took for our food to come out? Too long. It was about 35mins between the time we ordered and the time we got our food, but like I said, totally worth the wait. Overall, the prices were very reasonable, the food was excellent, but the service was slow, hence the 4 stars. Oh, the wine was crazy overpriced, so I ordered tanqueray and tonic.

This is our second trip to the restaurant. That is only important since we live in Bend, OR. We had the lunch here about 7 months ago and decided to return this time for dinner. A cozy place with a strong staff and welcoming wait persons. The pizza is very good As well.

I was in Rochester briefly for a trip and I loved this place! I got the baked ziti which was very good, but their cheesecake was amazing. I am still dreaming about the fluffy goodness. I don't think they made that cheesecake, I think they got it from somewhere in Rochester, but they had good sense to do so. I wish they didn't have paper covering the tables, which they were ripping big pieces and replacing when we were there, not very classy. But other than that, the food was very good and I would certainly recommend!

This was the best Italian restaurant I have ever dinned in. The food was incredible. I went there for lunch to celebrate a relative's graduation. I tried several of the pasta dishes and they were all so tasty. My dish was the portobello-stuffed ravioli--AMAZING. It came with a creamy tomato sauce that was mind-blowing. Finally, an Italian restaurant that doesn't serve overcooked pasta with crappy sauce. It was packed with flavor and fresh ingredients. It was also really cool to see a proper chief that probably graduated from an accredited culinary art institution in the kitchen preparing amazing food. I save 5 star ratings for restaurants that actually fit Yelp's 5-star description: "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" I can't see how this restaurant could have improved. Too bad I live 5 hours away.

Not a bad place but nothing special either and a bit overpriced. I had a pizza. Overall it was very similar to what you would get at a convenience store. My recommendation is to stay away from the pizza. Other members of my party had different pasta dishes and they were all good but nothing special. The price for two people including tip and a bottle of wine was right around $100.

Overall, a disappointment. Visited on Tuesday for an early dinner. The tomatoes in the Caprese salad were flavorless (indistinguishable from January refrigerator tomatoes). For an Italian restaurant to not have fresh local tomatoes in late August for this dish in particular is inexcusable. Vegetable lasagna with bolognese was just OK. The pasta and vegetables were nicely done, but the sauce was on the greasy side. Portion size was absurdly large (i.e., what passes for "normal" in restaurants these days). Service was slow and largely inattentive (there was one server on, but only 3 tables being served). I don't plan to return.

I ordered a pizza to go. The crust was more doughy than I would have expected and this sort of overtook the other flavors. The sauce was tangy and mildly sweet. I may give them another chance for the pasta, but I'd probably cross the street for pizza in this neighborhood.

Panzari's is a hidden gem in Rochester and is my favorite Italian restaurant. I bring out of towners here for it's prime location in Corn Hill, the consistent and delicious menu items and the desserts. I always order the Chicken French as its my favorite. I would be incredibly sad if Panzari's did not have a presence in Rochester. Many memorable dinners and celebrations here.

I went here to eat with a friend, and I definitely felt like we were on a date. The food was really nice, and most of the waitresses pretty cute ;) The food was ok, but the waitress said the pizza was small, then I got a huge, crazy pizza, which I would have ordered the small. Also, whenever I asked the waitress for something, like a side of Bleu Cheese she forgot to put on my salad, she'd go do 10 other things first. It's a small restaurant, so you can see what she's up to. There was a huge 12 top dirty near our table that look pretty disgusting... The food was pretty good, but not amazing, my pizza sat in the window for awhile because it took long to get my dressing for my salad. I'd go back and give them another chance.
