I have been coming to this diner on and off for many years, with a long break when I wasn't living in Nassau County for several years, but have been back here again on and off since around 2006 or so, sometimes meeting family from out of town here since it's a good spot for that, etc. I have been here a few times again the past two months and I think the Celebrity is a good, solid diner, and one of the better ones we still have left on L.I. and not many to rave about any longer. I mean, I was here today for brunch, got a booth no problem, it was 95 degrees out and it was cool and comfy and clean in here, and the food is solid, prices not dirt cheap but I'd rather pay a bit more for a good diner than less for a lousy one like most of them are out here lately, and service is generally always friendly, attentive, quick, and accommodating. Sometimes it does get really super packed here I notice, especially at like certain holidays or certain weekday lunchtimes or Saturday evenings, but mostly it's not too bad and there's more than ample parking all around the place. I dunno, I like the Celebrity and I like it a hell of a lot more than the other two lame diners that are just east and west of here on the illustrious Jericho Turnpike (that one in Woodbury next to the McDonalds is really, really bad, trust me on that one). I can't quite give it four stars but it's nearly there. Home Depot is nearby, and all kinds of other shopping and food, I just wish we still had Borders Books up the road, but it is gone now...oh the pain!!!

Mediocre service, and a terrible sandwich. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and go somewhere else

  • Samuel K.

Nothing special here and the prices are HIGH! came here for breakfast and the service was fast but man the prices were high for food that wasn't that great. gotta say the portions were huge. wished i knew so i could split something instead of ordering myself. just too expensive for the type of food that's here but i guess it's syosset and people are "rich" so they can charge that much.

  • Franco C.

Diner prices on the rise. Oh sweet mother of god- $9-something for eggs? I could buy the whole damn chicken for that. Sheesh. They are getting a little nutty here with the prices- Hello? Did you hear about the McD's 2 for $3 specials going on? What you say, no mini muffins? Bite me- I don't need them anyway.

    (2)
  • Vincent M.

This diner gets more and more expensive every time I come home to Syosset! It's a magic trick, I swear! I leave, the prices soar, the ads in the menu's increase and the food stays the same. It's too bad really, I used to go to this diner all the time but I'd much rather take the trip to Westbury and eat at Harvest Diner.

  • Karen F.

Yes, the prices are crazy high - but the food is great and the basket of mini muffins (corn & bran) is terrific. Over the last few years our famiy has migrated from the On Parade Diner to the Celebrity - usually for breakfast./brunch or lunch. It's a classic Lawn-Guy-Land style Diner with Matza-Brei at Passover and Bagel-all-the-way the rest of the year. (N.B. The $16.95 bagel all the way easily feeds 2 people order it to split. The lox is tasty and not too salty!) The food and service are solid, and while it can get crowded they are well versed in crowd control. You can get anything you want from the extensive menu. And they have great pastries. Yum. I love diners.

  • Kelli D.

This is a pretty decent diner. The people who work here are always spot on and friendly and the food and service is MUCH better than On Parade Diner. They have the absolute BEST Turkey burgers. The flavors and seasoning in the burger really made the dish and the burger speaks for itself. No need for cheese or other toppings. While you are waiting for your food they give you a basket of mini muffins which are tasty as well. They have great breakfasts as well the pancakes, challah french toast and omelets are all good and its always hard to pick what I want to eat. Of course when nothing else would do go for the classic grilled cheese and a plate of fries. I always thought diner french fries were just average but Celebrity's fries are a cut above the rest.

4 out of 5 stars. first time going to this diner and it was a great experience. the food was awesome. i asked for well done burger and i got a well done burger. the fries are delicious and doesnt taste like fast food /frozen fries at all like other places. the service was constant but the only con i had about it was that i felt like i was being rushed. the bill came fast even before i finished eating. the tomatoes were RED, the lettuce were GREEN...nothing pale nothing leftover from the other day. the portions were huge and filling. the coleslaw was ok but the pickles were good...how a pickle should taste like. its very clean and great overall. i would definitely come again

In my estimation, this is the gold standard of diners on Long Island - which is why you'll see the same faces every weekend for brunch for the past decade. Despite the somewhat puzzling low star ratings, one thing that is consistent about all of the prior reviews of Celebrity is that the food is consistently good. While I respect the other opinions below, Celebrity is not akin to McDonald's. I've said it before with respect to other reviews, there are reasons why you'll wait a few minutes to get in here. Yeah, the mini muffins are a nice touch to the bread basket for brunch, as are the marinated chick peas that are served with the bread basket at dinner. But that's not the end all be all. You'll generally get a lot of bang for the buck here, as many choices come with soup and a beverage (with free refills - which is not standard at a diner). They have excellent split pea soup, served with great fried croutons - and it's available every day except Sunday. I also like that you can order both honey and smoked turkey. As for breakfast, their omelettes are excellent, and not swimming in oil. Celebrity is not a greasy spoon. They cater to their crowd, which is why there are so many loyalists.

  • Nicholas K.

I have been to about every diner on Long Island and Its safe to say most of them are dirty grease bowls equal to that of fast food restaurants. I stopped by Celebrity on sunday for some brunch with the family and seeing the place as busy at it was I was hoping to get a good meal. The moment we sat down the waitress brought over a basket of assorted mini muffins that were gone by the time our meal came they were so good, great with coffee. I had the pancakes which were absolutely delightful my wife had the challah french toast and it was equally as tasty and you can tell had the homemade cinnamy taste the way french toast should taste like. My son doesnt like to eat red meat and wanted some lunch, the waiter recommended their homemade turkey burgers and my son had never eaten one before so he decided to try it. After finishing it he requested we take a few home he enjoyed it so much and later that day eating one myself I can fully agree they were great, juicy and flavorful. I think my family found its new weekend family brunch spot, look forward to coming here again and axing IHOP and their generic cuisine.

Stopped in for a quick bite over the weekend and had a surprisingly decent burger. The patty was way small but the pound of bacon and fresh halved avocado sitting on top made up for it. Decent Service, decently clean, just your average decent diner.

  • Randi L.

Good place to go for a quick, fresh meal. Most entrees, wraps, etc come with a bottomless soda, soup, and salad or fries. Service is usually excellent.

  • Wayne S.

Staff very friendly, portions ungodly large, food very appetizing!

  • D F.

Walked in last night wanting a bowl of soup. Seems like a reasonable task for a DINER right? Well, the waiter informed me there was no more soup. They turned it off. No soup at a diner? FAIL.

  • A M.

Why are there no good diners in Nassau/Suffolk? All the food looks the same. All the food tastes the same. And it basically all sucks!

    (1)
  • Simon H.

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but the diner that I had gone to for many years raised their prices and ouch! does it hurt! I grew up in Syosset, and when we were back in town, looking for a late night fix, we came to Celebrity Diner looking for a late night snack. As soon as I opened up the redesigned menu, I was shocked by how far they had ratcheted up the prices! I mean, I know that this is Syosset, but its still a diner! My late night meal? 2 eggs, side of fries. No cheese, no omlette. As basic as you can get. $5.50. A Diet Coke? $2.75. My girlfriend's greek salad? $8. I am sure that Celebrity was the first to raise their prices, and other diners will soon do the same. But, try and find another place which may do a better job of holding the line. This place just priced itself out of my spot to visit list.

  • Stuart S.

Glad I didn't pay for the meal I had here. It's hard to do diner food poorly, but Celebrity Diner fails at some of the more basic items, like eggs. On top of that the prices are steep enough that it helps to be a celebrity to eat here, except none would ever be caught in such a dumpy place.

    (2)
  • Aaron S.

Expensive and cross contamination discovered Used to be great food at great prices. Haven't eaten here in a while until recently and wow it changed. Not only did the syosset patch release health information about cross contamination but the prices are outrageous. $17 for a shrimp salad wrap that was ALL lettuce and tomatoes. Maybe 1 scoop of shrimp salad. My family walked out with an $80 bill for 2 wraps and 2 hamburgers at a dinner. On parade diner is right down the road and is a better choice

    (1)
  • Michael S.

LI is filled with diners so to separate from the pack is no easy task. I feel this places does it. For starters they drop off a cup of chick peas to munch on which is always a huge place anytime a place gives free table food. Each dinner comes with soup, salad, drink, and dessert so while the menu price might seem high, value wise it's a great deal. Had the salmon which wasn't dry at all not too fishy. Split pea soup was spot on. Overall would be a regular customer

  • Tessie B.

I double agree...diner prices are on the rise. We come here generally for breakfast during work. Generally the food is what you would expect from a diner. Portions are huge. Service is usually good. Though the last time we were there the service was less then desireable hopefully an off day. I'm sure we will keep coming here...just wish the prices were alittle better is all.

    (3)
  • Marc F.

Everything a diner should be-good food, good service, fair prices and good atmosphere. The specials and regular items are good. I attend regular meetings that are held at the Diner and all aspects are always very good.

  • Larry B.

Food is great. Fresh. Tasty. Extensive menu with anything you could want. The disappointment which holds back a 4th star, is the service. It's rushed, then it's not there, if you can imagine, at the same time. Not friendly, and not that accurate. Wrong orders were brought to the table. The food trumps the service. I'll continue to visit Celebrity.

    (3)
  • Jona K.

Nasty service and management. My wife had some coffee which tasted bad and requested a coke in its place. Was told no substitutions by the waitress. Requested the manager who was even nastier. Foolish business people to lose a customer over a $2 charge. It's average, overpriced fare to begin with. They obviously don't need my business so I won't be returning. FYI, the cashier and manager's daughter is equally needing enrollment in charm school.

    (1)
  • Aaron F.

We stopped by for breakfast. The standard eggs, sausage, and toast. Nothing special and very expensive. I will say that the sausage is the best I've had in a while. The mini muffins are also good as well. These were the only highlights from this very expensive and mediocre breakfast.

    (2)
  • D. T.

Food is good and cistently good service and very clean but the prices are nuts for a diner.

    (2)
  • Lisa P.

Sometimes the service is crazy fast..and other times you wonder where the heck your waiter/waitress went. I love the muffin basket in the morning and generally the food is OK..although yes, kind of pricey for a diner.

Came for breakfast on a Friday morning. Seated quickly. Friendly and accommodating waitress. My bacon, cheese, green pepper omelette was good. My wife was pleased with her steak and eggs. My son happy with his bacon and scrambled eggs. On the negative side, the staff was slow with the coffee refills. Also, the cashier was not so accommodating when we paid with an American Express gift card. However, I am basing my stars on the food and the really nice waitress. I will return.

  • Stephasaurus R.

Went before noon on a Friday, it was totally packed and could hardly find parking. The waitress was extremely rude and kept trying to rush us out of our table. There were new cooks, and the food did not taste the same as it has in the past. We were not thrilled with our meal at all... Which we could tolerate, what we could not tolerate was the waitress getting very clearly upset when my sister came in with a stroller. When we asked for a high chair she told us they didn't have any, and we should have told her we were bringing a baby cause we were in the way. I was not aware celebrity diner was a no baby zone. We will absolutely not be returning.

The food is always good and the service is impressively fast. I always leave extremely full and satisfied. Prices are not cheap but fair for the portions they serve.

Came in for breakfast while waiting for my mom to come out of surgery at the neighboring Syosset Hospital. I had the Eggs Benedict breakfast special, which was ok. My small gripes were that the Hollandaise sauce was a bit gritty and it was also an intensely deep yellow color, which was off-putting. There was no detectable lemon flavor in the sauce, which I usually look forward to in a Hollandaise. The accompanying hash brown potatoes were a bit undercooked. The special came with a small orange juice, which I appreciated, and coffee. The coffee was fresh, but our server wasn't too on top of the refills. Overall, I thought it was a good deal for $11.75.

  • Alan K.

So, first-off, let me say that the atmosphere inside this diner was pretty crummy. It's a microcosm of likely what most of Syosset is about--moneyed, annoying people with too much time on their hands acting like they're something special. Ok, on to the food. I ordered an omelette with spinach/mushrooms. Not bad quality. Price? Way too high. Came to about 12 bucks plus another 2 for coffee. Now, as for the cashier: she was hands-down the most miserable woman I've ever seen handling money at a restaurant. I was with a female friend of mine and she was staring at us both, giving us dirty looks as i went to pay. Never said a word to me. Not "how was everything"? Thank you? Nada. She just had this annoyed, I'm doing-you-favor by taking your money look on her face. Really? You need to have someone else with a pulse/personality to work the register. Just some free advice from a frequent diner customer. As for the Celebrity diner? I was treated like the help! I won't be going back anytime soon. There are too many other good diners on LI, such as Golden Coach in Huntington, South Bay in Babylon and many others. If the Celebrity Diner was a TV show, I'd cancel it.

    (2)
  • Drew A.

The food, decor and waitstaff here are solid. It's a great LI diner. Let's just get that out of the way. Where it loses points, is in the prices. Unless you're getting a lunch or dinner special, you're paying top dollar for diner style eats. Is the greek salad good? Hell yes! Is it worth $15 with chicken in it? Hell no! I thought diners were supposed to be the place where you can go get a cheaper meal of something you can probably cook at home. A casual neighborhood spot where anyone can grab a nice meal regardless of social class. I guess not. While the eats will fill you up good, the $20pp price tag just doesn't scream everyday diner to me.

Best diner in town!! Great burgers, superb fries and the muffins they give in a basket before serving you your breakfast in the morning are delicious!! Staff couldn't be nicer and more helpful!! If you're a Syosset local like me, or are in the Syosset area looking for a good diner to eat at, the Celebrity Diner is the place to go!!

FANTASTIC PLACE! The food is very delicious. Professional service provided by the staff unlike Broadway diner. Always great to visit and my kids love this place!

  • Joe N.

The food is good, but you have to be a celebrity to afford lunch there. I ordered a turkey burger over Greek salad and it was $18. FOR LUNCH. The salad did not come with dolmades, Kalamata olives or anything that would justify the cost. It was just mesclun greens with feta cheese and some pepperoncinis. The other salads are also expensive, but they're a better value. Lunch and dinner comes with chickpeas or cole slaw and a side of pickles for the table, which I enjoy (and it makes me feel better about the bill.) I recommend the split pea soup. It's the best I've had at a diner. You can order just about anything on the menu with confidence, just check the price first.

Coming from Queens, the diner capital of the east coast, this is not a very good diner. The food was very bland. Firstly the service is pretty bad. Our waiter must have been day dreaming because he came back with his own original take on my order. An egg sandwich with tomato and turkey bacon came back as a tomato, turkey bacon, american cheese sandwich. When I explained that wasn't what I ordered he argued with me and said I did. He graciously agreed to bring me a different sandwich. Regardless, the egg sandwich came back with scrambled eggs, tomato, turkey bacon, and cold hard slices of American cheese. I guess it was very important that I eat cheese with breakfast. My wife had canned hash and eggs. Meh. My son had scrambled eggs and bacon which was palatable. You go to a diner you expect a few things to be decent: burgers, pancakes, and eggs. If you order the chateaubriand or sushi you're on your own. I just can't recommend a diner that screws up your order and can't get an egg sandwich right. So what you're the only diner around, take pride in your product and service.

Dependant on which waitress staff you get it can be awesome or a near miss.Seafood bisque, french onion soups were hot. Bread basket given. Hot coffee and tea selections. Dinner options come with a drink and soup/salad for one price

  • Matthew B.

I doubt I'll be back there based on the prices. I was shocked. Being that I didn't want to blow that kind of money on a meal but needed some dinner, I ordered the Challah Bread French Toast. When I received it, I say 3 pieces of dry Texas Toast on a plate. I asked if this was a mistake, and I ordered the Challah Bread one, they assured me that it was. In my head, I expected a few big pieces of challah bread french toast with a couple scoops of butter, some powdered sugar and syrup on the side. Instead, I got Texas toast, a couple packets of syrup and a few little packets of butter. VERY disappointed!

  • Zach C.

I ordered the Eggs Benedict. It was barely edible. The Hollandaise Sauce was certainly not Hollandaise sauce. It was some shade of infant diarrhea, chunky, and tasted awful. I have no recollection of the Canadian bacon or poached eggs. The muffin was unevenly toasted, burned in spots and un-toasted in others. The potatoes are a whole other story, I'm not sure how you can mess those up, but take a look at the pictures and you will see what I mean.....burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. The staff was very nice, however.

one of the worst meals i ever had, got the cobb salad. completely tasteless and gross. service was good though.

Lunchtime. Packed. The place is bustling. Let's check it out because we gotta get back to the office. Despite the parking lot being full, we were able to get seated immediately upon arrival. Our waiter quickly got our orders. I noticed the lunch menu insert and settled for a burger because it seemed like the safe selection and I didn't have the time or patience to read a diner menu. Today's soups: chicken noodle, matzo ball, yankee bean, and maybe one more that I just can't remember. I got a cup of matzo, which came with the lunch special. Nice broth; bits of chicken, celery, and decent matzo ball. The lunch burger is pretty basic: a charbroiled patty served on a lightly toasted bun with an ample amount of fries and a couple of onion rings. Naked sandwich: no veggie garnish, sauces, or other condiments. The thick cut steak fries were hot and crispy, but the rings were just the opposite, like they were made in advance and grabbed from a bin for garnish. Table service was friendly and prompt. Drink refills were timely without question. Food was ok and filling, but nothing spectacular for the price.

I don't know how this place doesn't have more stars. Celebrity diner is everything a diner should be. The staff is professional and usually pretty fast, the restaurant is in good shape and kept clean and The food is always really good too. I'm a big fan of the rancheros breakfast wrap and my fiancé loves the turkey burger over Greek salad. I've also heard a lot of good things about their seafood dishes.

One of our families favorite diners and we have tried many on Long Island First the breakfast specials are worth getting there before 11am Second We have not found a diner that gives everybody mini muffins for breakfast Third if you order dinner the prices include everything, beverage, appetizer and dessert , you may get shocked about the price you just have to account for the extras Finally, like any restaurant you have to get to know your server and you will be rewarded...demand a table with tony! And wait for him, he is the celebrity here.

    (5)
  • Kevin F.

This place could be great. But it's awful. The food is never fresh, always cold and stale and the staff is nasty. The $18 salads come with dry, stale, flavorless chicken that tastes like it was grilled 3 days ago. There are far better options in the area.

    (1)
  • Janice J.

This dinner is exactly what you expect when you go into a Long island diner. They offer a huge menu of good foods. The service is good and real fast at lunch times to assure people on lunch break get back to work on time. The egg whites are real good and not too oily. Give them a try and you will like the place.

    (4)
  • Thom H.

Pretty good diner. Coffee mugs are mugs and not cups, nice touch, even if there are ads printed on them. Free small basket of mini-muffins. Eggs over easy and pancakes came out with the eggs on the hot pancakes, which overcooked the eggs :-( In the end, a typical Greek diner. I'll be back.

    (3)
  • Nick S.

Excellent turkey burger and very good coffee. There's a lot on the menu here and it's super busy. Here's a newsflash: Good food costs money and the portions are on the larger side.

After a long drive in from Jersey; my parents, teenage son and I decided to have lunch at the Celebrity Diner. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was typical for a diner. We received the menu and started flipping through everyone looked up at each other in shock elbowing and whispering Wow the prices are really high! We all had sticker shock! However, being unfamiliar with the area we thought maybe this is the norm. Our waiter was great, very attentive and greeted us with a plate of pickles and coleslaw; which we all loved and quickly devoured. The burgers came out quickly and were very tasty everything was fresh and filling with a great portion size. Everyone was very happy with the food and service we received. Our waiter was great he was very familiar with the area he gave us some great tips on things to do in the area and explained the best way to get there. We had a great time and enjoyed the food. The only down side is the prices were way too high.

  • Michelle A.

I can't say I'm thrilled. As my followers know I'm a legit food critic and compared to other diners in this area celebrity is not the best. I'm with a large group of people who tried everything from pancakes to burgers and they all agree with the 2-3 star rating. I'm offended.....

Hands down the best diner on Long Island always busy always fresh food. Service is very good

    (5)
  • Tracy K.

I agree with Franco.. I concur! Nothing special - the highest priced eggs have ever met.. very valuable... The owners of this place also own the diner down the street next to borders.. leased out to other restaurants all whose ship has run aground. Patsys, Smoking Bbq or something.. they keep going and no one lasts. The location is key.. location location. If you are coming to this diner.. my reccomendation is what they do best.. roast turkey.. you won't be disappointed.

I had the #11 which was a western omelette with juice, toast and home fries. For $10.25 it seemed steep but I had no issues with the food. The juice was tiny but fine, the omelette had ham, onions and peppers. It was a little overdone but the home fries were cooked just right. The service was on top of things and got things out pretty fast. I didn't consider the portions large and it wasn't a really great value but it made for a decent enough breakfast.

    (3)
  • Liz M.

We stopped in for a late lunch around 2:30 p.m. so it was not busy at all. I was underwhelmed by the service and even more disappointing was the food. We both ordered omelettes and they were so overcooked. Since when is an omelette supposed to be brown on the outside? Let's just cook the eggs to death and serve it. I cannot see any reason to go back here and don't feel I was treated like a celebrity.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
